    The gameplay is as solid as any other mediocre shooter ever made which isn't the main draw for these sorts of games anyways. The biggest issue is that the entire story for this game is the epitome of r/im14andthisisdeep.

    The gameplay is like the first game but a little tweaked. Nothing to brag about. The graphic are upgraded ofcourse. The last thing is the story which is already known, it is horrible. I do not understand why others ideals and politics has to be shoved down our throats.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Massive letdown. On the level of "The Last Airbender", which isn't worth being paid to see. I enjoyed the first half of the game, but the second half forces you to play as Abby, your enemy, and I literally just don't give a **** The writers are trying to make you empathize or see that everyone is human, but any functioning adult already knows this; we don't need a video game founded on violence to morally preach to us.

    I put the game on very easy and was planning to power through to the end, skipping all cutscenes because I literally don't care about the characters and already killed most of them; but I was so mad I googled to see if I at least get to kill Abby at the end and found out I do not. So depressed, so let down. What a pointless story, it might be good for a child to play and learn about seeing both sides of a coin, but what parent would let their child play such a violent game? If I want to empathize with others, I'll watch a romcom, I bought this game to visit violence on my enemies in an imaginary world, not be preached to and watch them walk away, or feel their pity on me letting me walk away from them.

    Even if they force me to play as my enemy (basically encourage metaphorical suicide), at least give me the choice to kill her in the end (the power of games is choice, vs movies/books). Nope. She gets to live.

    Also, lots of lame forced moments where you can't control your actions. You could easily shoot your enemy, but instead it goes to a cutscene and they get the jump on you. And then you chase them but they are invulnerable. All in a game where as soon as Joel turns his back, Abby shotguns his leg off.

    Literally selling this game on eBay ASAP.
    Literally created a metacritic account to give it a 1 because it's that bad.
    Literally never buying a Naughty Dog game again until it's out for a year and reading all the spoilers to make sure it's not some lame preach-fest for children.    … Expand

    Played the game, gameplay was slow and unintuitive. At worst the gameplay was agonizing and at great it was scarcely an improvement of the first. The story was absolutely terrible, made no sense.

Sadly the sequel completely and utterly destroys everything you've come to love from the first game and actively makes you regret ever playing it.

    SPOILERS

    The main character from the first game, Joel, gets killed in one of the most brutal and unceremonious ways possible making your heart sink and then forces you to play as the killer for many, many, many hours. The only other event that made me feel the way that scene made me feel was when Glenn from the walking dead got his head bashed in by a baseball bat. I stopped watching the show afterwards, not because it was unusual for characters to die once in a while but because it was one of the major main characters you had come to love and really care about and the only reason he died the way he did was because it would invoke a bigger emotional reaction than if he had died from anything else. Joel's death was used the same way, only to make the player feel terrible and nothing else. Later on you get to play as Joel's killer for a long time, no, just no. If the point of this game was to entertain the player and make them feel good while doing so, it has done exactly the opposite. I don't remember the last time I bought something because I wanted to feel horrible for dozens of hours willingly. I don;t understand the rage about politics or sexual orientation of certain characters, who cares, it's not even remotely important in the scope of the bigger issue of this game. The only things the game does right are graphics, animations and sound. The story is utter complete garbage, the character development is also utter and complete garbage and everything else in between bar the 3 pros listed previously. I can't remember the last time I was as disappointed with a sequel from a game or movie I loved so much for so many reasons and somehow, one of the greatest video game companies decided to ruin it all. If you enjoy feeling complete despair, sadness, tension, more sadness and despair, this game is for you. If on the other hand you enjoy feeling good and not have buyer's remorse, this game is absolutely not for you.    … Expand

    The story is continued with weak motivation and logic. The genre in itself is understandably unforgiving and vicious but they failed to deliver it the way they did in the part 1. This is the output of a twisted mind, although the message they tried to put out is insightful they utterly failed to represent it in a noble way and thats what hurt the most gamer's sentimental value they had for the game.

    It was a traumatic experience for me, I didn't wish to continue after 2 hours into the game. My disappointment is immeasurable to discern after waiting for 5 years! I wish I could undo/unsee what I witnessed.

    Thanks for the first game, but this one needed more heart, humanity and passion to be a decent sequel. I can even say that this sequel was totally unnecessary.

    Oh and you were really conscious about what we wanted, all that fake advertising showing this one character alive, so many hate and negativity from you coming out of nowhere.

Un juego con una jugabilidad de 10, una música muy buena y que encaja mucho con el ambiente, sonido y graficos espectaculares... pero cuando llegamos al apartado de la historia, lo cual es LO MÁS IMPORTANTE DE TODO EL JUEGO EN SI, comienza todo a caer en picado. Nada que decir de la primera muerte, es el mejor modo de hacer que odiemos a nuestros enemigos y de hacer que nos zambullamos de lleno en la historia, el problema comienza cuando a quien deberiamos de odiar se convierte en personaje principal, ¿en que estaba pensando naughty dog cuando decidió eso? En fin, si fuera una simple misión de recordatorio o un intento de explicación de los motivos personales del malo estaría muy muy bien traido, pero que Abby se juegue MÁS HORAS QUE SE JUEGA A ELLIE ES UNA ABERRACIÓN. Han conseguido un despegue de oro, Ellie yendo con odio y rabia y ¿después tengo que ser Abby? ¿La persona a la que más se odia? Por favor. Un final sin sentido, o bueno muy oculto. Entiendo que quisierais condenar la venganza, pero si quieres eso NO HAGAS QUE ABBY LA PRIMERA EN VENGARSE GANE.
    En fin la historia es un desproposito que ha intentado vivir de las rentas del anterior juego. Por ello a la historia le doy un 0,5/10.
    No quiero entrar en toda la idealogia que hay en el juego, estoy a favor del movimiento pero también hay que saber cuando y cuanto mostrarlo para que sea realista y no un mero escaparate. La historia de Lev, siendo trans es la gota que colmó el vaso, es cierto que tienes que dar visibilidad a todo pero no creo que este juego fuera la situación. Una decisión muy fuera de lugar y que desentonaba totalmente con la tematica del juego. Cosa que no interrumpia pero te sacaba de la atmosfera que el juego debia de tener. En resumen: un juego con una agenda politica metida de contexto totalmente, pero que a fin de cuentas eso no destroza el juego si eres una persona normal.
    Para acabar, simplemente volver a reiterar que la historia es el mayor despropósito y fuera de lugar que he visto en mis muchisimos años a los mandos de consolas. Han destrozado un personaje tanto psicologica como fisicamente para nada, puesto que el juego al final se queda en nada. Muere quien no tiene que morir y vive quien tiene que morir. Jugabilidad 10/10

The actual mechanics are similar to the original in an almost too conservative way. Naughty Dog really doesn't put the game out there mechanically to stand on it's on. What it really comes down to is the story. While obviously a VERY subjective metric The Last of usThe Last of us Part II is a fancy looking cake that tastes like dirt. Naughty Dog really doesn't put the game out there mechanically to stand on it's on. What it really comes down to is the story. While obviously a VERY subjective metric The Last of us is 95% built on story. In this case the game falls flat on it's face. I don't want to give any spoilers out but my opinion of the story is that they try to tell a boring flat revenge tale and then execute it poorly. This game to me is like the new star wars trilogy. It seems it doesn't want to be defined by its predecessor but does not know how to do a good job on its on. I say again that The Last of us Part II is a fancy cake that tastes horrible. So I took my time in this game because I wanted to feel the characters, I wanted the deep raw emotion of connection you would feel with the first one. And in a perfect world that's what you'd get. It took me over a week to get to the end as I wanted to process each moment. Instead I was handed a revenge story that left me feeling like a withered stump. No connection, the only person I felt anything for was Ellie. My favourite parts were the flashbacks. Playing as Abbie for the other half of the game felt distasteful, irritating, and boring. I couldn't stand her character and you have to be enslaved to that experience for hours. I thought okay maybe only two hours as her. Instead I have to watch an incredibly awkward sex scene, a boring love triangle, and her anger at her friends being killed as if it's a surprise. When she just did the same thing. Stopping the cycle of violence could have been put in a third story. I'm left with no emotion, no satisfaction. Other then I just want to play Ellie. I don't care about abby and her constant drivel. Would have liked to see more of Dina at the least. Abby was terrible. Ugh. Just ugh. Please learn from this and make a third one that you learned from. Though now Joel's dead so seems like there's not much for redemption. You couldn't have taken his life half way through or 3 quarters and given us an emotional story arc? Please don't bring abby back she's pointless.… Expand

    It breaks my heart to write this, but I really did not expect such a poor story after all these years of waiting. While there were a few genuinely good moments, majority of game filled up with plot holes. It just took elements of what worked for the first game without understanding what made them compelling.

Forces a relationship down your throat that is nothing more than a clingy one night stand, why should I care about this relationship when it starts from that and she only decides to join out of the blue on your revenge world tour. Best moments are with Joel, but you can save an entire game with a few small little moments. Pacing was terrible. Music forgetable. Abby's portion of the game, while a brave choice and understandable, last too long and was ultimately a pain to play through. Nothing more than a cashcow for the platform to end successfully on. Wasn't needed and is nothing more than a golf club to the franchise.… Expand

Честно, я не особо фанат игры, но я смотрел её на ютубе(прохождение), да, это не то, если бы я играл, но все-же, смотря на первую часть и дополнение (left behind), это было ОЧЕНЬ КРУТО, ОЧЕНЬ!, эмоции, переживания, но не этот сюжет который я ждал 7 лет, не эту ситуацию, которая произойдет в первых часах игры, они не должны были такого делать, хотя бы не так, как это произошло. Я понимаю, что Нил хотел показать, что за все есть расплата (за смерть платят смертью), но не таким глупым способом, я лично считаю, лучше-бы он сделал хэппи энд. История и правда тяжелая для обычного обывателя, но Нил показал жизнь, как она бывает в реальности, но сразу-же встает вопрос, почему мужчина проделавший такой путь, вдруг расслабился и пошел в логово к девке, которую знает 5 минут?, ну блядь, такой глупый слив, что пиздец, хотя-бы как-то в конце. Я явно не ждал эту игру, я ждал другую игру... Где будет хороший конец истории, ебаный разработчик получай свой ебаный НОЛЬ, и самое классное это подводка к протогонисту, типо они тоже люди, но я не хочу играть/смотреть(нужное подчеркнуть) 5 часов за тварь, которую я хочу убить, я морально сгорел и пошел снова смотреть первую часть этого шедевра.… Expand

    one of the main sole problems is the secondary character, Abby. apparently when you finish the first half of the game as Ellie THEN you can play as the killer of the original protagonist Joel miller for the second half.it seems with the whole narrative playout that we the gamers should go with the flow
    of things and love it right away but sadly disappointed the only real characters that are still worth giving a damn is Ellie and Tommy I didn't even finish the story because of how bad and unbearable the story was getting.i even got the collectors edition for it. so in conclusion to it all
    it a real shame what naughty dog did. feeding off the glory of the first game and making an empty promise

As a game, I would give it a solid 8/10, the graphics are astonishing, new mechanics are added and bluh bluh bluh. On the other hand the story makes it the worst game in the freaking universe, if you've played the first game you won't like this one. The whole game was about revenge, which it wasn't applied at the end of the game. I literally spent I've 30 hours thinking that I would kill Abby but instead I was basically left with, nothing. I lost Joel, 2 fingers, I let my enemy live, and I lost my girlfriend and child. Don't even bother making another part naughty dog.… Expand

The plot of this game makes me feel like I am tossed with sh*t by some outsiders, but after I do the same thing to them they beg me to let them go? Do you, Neil, think that even if after the thing you treasure most, the thing you love most, the pride you uphold most has been shattered on the ground by some self-righteous people, you are still going to stand there and let go of your hate??? I don't get it. Let me teach you something about life, that is not something you will ever forgive about. If I were Ellie, I would have died for Joel. Revenge IS allowed in the civilized world as long as you resort to law. It originated, however, from a barbaric world like the one that Ellie lived in, and the one that Joel refused to change in the first game.

    Ironically, in a game that boasts about it's equal rights about women and other minorities, the discrimination for Asian is so much that I feel sick about this kind of attitude.

    One point for the efforts endeavored by the hard-working programmers who brought this game to life. I think I will never purchase any other game entitled Neil Druckmann as the writer in the future at all.    … Expand

While the first part made us fall in love with it the second part is as if some 5 yr old wrote its story line. While the game play might have slightly improved and the graphics are brilliant the story line which is the primary focus of this game is absolutely horrible.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This franchise has the continuity of a Friday the 13th film. It took absolutely everything from the first game and threw it away. They killed off a huge factor in the first game's success withing the first two hours, and the rest was just nonexistent throughout the game. The new characters introduced went through little to no development throughout the course of the game and they were overall non-memorable and boring. Even some of the characters from the first game were dulled down to fit the **** boring character motif prevalent throughout the game. The whole revenge fueled plot was nothing new or exciting and reminded me of some **** 2000s action revenge film. Then, the game threw a curveball at the players and forced us to play as a particularly unlikeable character in a **** attempt to "humanize" her, but in reality, it just made the few people who made it that far in the game want to quit even more. After that **** experience, the game gets even worse with the ending. What is the point of killing off a major character, and setting up an entire (yet **** story about getting revenge on the one person who caused it all just to let them go scott free. It makes for a very shallow and unsatisfying ending that completely voids the entire playthrough and makes literally everything for nothing. This game is a major waste of time with very few pros to outweigh the many cons. Please dont waste your time or money on this… Expand

Fair enough most aspects of the game are great, but the problem is it's called the last of us part 2 and the fact that the plot is so bad and full of retarded holes is simply unacceptable. The more you love the first game, the more you will hate this one

I knew that the last of us series is dark and its expected that it would get darker with the most obvious expectation that one of the main characters would die or be incapacitated in some way (Joel was the laziest choice in my opinion) and the way they died would probably be gruesome and dark. But to just randomly introduce a character that noone knows just to up and kill joel for little more than shock value and then forcing the player to play as her to try to "understand" her is one of the worst writings i have ever seen. I had problems with other scenes like the sex scene which was just unnecessary in my opinion, the obvious attempt to appeal to SJWs by just making ellie gay and abby as transgender with no contribution to the plot, everyone being a female and Naughtdog refusing to kill females otherwise they might receive hate, and the overall plot that starts off weak and ends with literally nothing accomplished and noone dead. I loved the Last of Us for the setting, the characters, the beautiful but dark vibe, some decent gameplay, but most importantly the plot. It's sad to say that all of these aspects have felt downgraded with the only redeeming quality is a slightly better gameplay and visuals.

    TLDR: If you want to play a decent zombie apocalypse game then this game delivers if you can ignore the entirety of the plot, but if you are here for story, good characters, good writing, and are a fan of the last of us series and looking for the same if not better quality game than the first one then this game will exceed your worst expectations. I heard alot of bad things about NaughtyDog, but I was willing to put all that aside as long as they stick to focusing on making good games, but this game has left me dissapointed, getting a refund, and never supporting this terrible company and I encourage you all to do the same    … Expand

    If you think game of thrones was butchered and that the bar had been set that ridiculously high that no one could ever do a hatchet job that bad to a beloved franchise......     Its a shame. The Last of Us 2 had a lot of potential and they just ruined it. Fallout 76 was actually better than this game. Poor execution and some terrible management from the higher ups ruined this game. Save your money and buy something else.

Forcing us to try and sympathize with a character in Abby who is irredeemable. There is in fact a big difference between Ellie and her. Add to the fact that we have to play as her for a large chunk of the game. Then the ending is hollow, Ellie’s decision does not match up with who she has been built up to be throughout the game. It’s on par with the sudden heel turn of Daenerys at the end of season 8 of Game of Thrones as in it’s a idiotic character choice. Such a disappointment.… Expand

Decepcionante do início ao fim! Um desrespeito com os fãs e com os personagens tão queridos! Até aceitei a morte de Joel e entendo a mensagem do game. Ao jogar com a Abby vemos a história por outro lado (ela ganhou meu respeito e admiração), mas desejava um fim diferente para ambas as personagens... talvez algum acontecimento que culminasse nas duas se ajudando para sobreviver e se entenderem em uma próxima sequência, mesmo com tudo que aconteceu.     Sometimes the game is absolutely amazing but the terrible story will never let you enjoy those moments. I completeled the first Last of Us three times but had to force myself to finish Last of Us 2. Such an utter disappointment Naughty Dog would succumb to SJW, get woke, culture.

    It might be me, but I got bored of the really linear format almost immediately. Both in story and combat. I know the first one was similar but it just felt...off. Like I was just moving my joystick through a movie script or scene. It's not so much playing a game as it is one of those choose your own adventure novels. Except there's only one choice. And the adventure itself sucks. I wish there was some form of choice, even if it was small. But everything felt forced to another level. All in all I appreciated the graphics and the cutscenes, at first, but the flashbacks, combat, and lack of any semblance of free will just turned it into a slog very early on. The "puzzle" portions of the various stages were insulting, at best. Something like Resident Evil, generally, requires at least one brain cell. Every stage is built for an intelligent bird in this one. Rolling platform? High access point. Door locked? Break window. It was just very superficial and repetitive. Add in something engaging. Make me think. Even if a little bit. Otherwise all the "puzzles" are just things to waste my time. Imagine if every building in Skyrim had its doors locked and a window up on a platform open. Eventually what's the point of the locked doors? They're just there to be locked. But when locked door equals another automatic access point the meaning is lost. Just goes back to the overtly linear format. The reason this has a 1 star review instead of a 0 is entirely because of the guitar. I spent more time playing songs on the guitar than enjoying the entire rest of the game. If this was Last of Us: Guitar Hero I'd give it 9 stars. Honestly, if I keep the game, it will just be for the guitar. Overall I wouldn't recommend the game to anyone. Unless you have insomnia. Or like playing the guitar.    … Expand

The game looks so good, I still can't believe it how amazing this game is, the visuals, the graphics, the characters, everything. But they really made us waiting for story like this, it's just awful, I couldn't take it at all. Yea I know what Neil wanted to say but this is just horrible for me at least. They way they killed Joel, the way Ellie turned into a cold blooded killer is just not what I was looking for. It supposed to be a story about Joel and Ellie, not about some random character who has a huge desire for revenge and then we had to play with that character too. I would happily give this game maximum rating if there would be a story which makes sense and would be enjoyable. For me the game ended when Joel was brutally killed with a damn golf bat, I mean come on, he deserved so much better, we, fans deserved so much better. If I could go back in time, im sure that i wouldn't buy this game. It caused me so much disappointment. If you have 7 years to write a story, then why would you come up with something like this? I'm really sad to say this but I regret that i've bought this game.… Expand
