    Great game with a solid story, but lacks the pacing and focus of the original. The first game knew when to step off the gas and give the player a breather where this one has just one speed; full. Well worth a play. Storywise it wanders off its vengeance theme a little too often to really hit the mark as well as the original, but a strong cast of new characters makes it enjoyable nonetheless.

Naughty Dog has done a remarkable job with the amount of attention to detail to its world and characters. The Last of Us Part II's Story is the hardest part for me personally to review. The things that had happened in the story where essential to the development of the game and to its characters. Joel was my favourite character in The Last of Us and honestly even though he had died I felt like this was a good fresh concept and that his death was essential. Naughty dog loves to show of the reality and beauty of our world but also be realistic with the situations that ellie and abby are thrown into. The major thing that I had dislkied about this game was when Naughty dog forces you to play as Abby for basically an entire half of the game. The first half of the game i genuinely enjoyed and playing as Ellie was a fun time. However the second half of the game, you are forced to play as Abby for around 10 hours just to see how some events unfold. This honestly infuriated me because I was never thinking about Abby's character, all I cared about was Ellie and Joels story being told. I understand that Naughty Dog thpught that this was necessary but honestly I wouldve been ok with a 5 minute flashback about this girls backtory or even make it 10 minutes. Naughty dog tries to make the player be sympathetic towards Abby but I probably did not have any sympathy until she finds her friends all dead, the confrontation mission and the last fight against Abby and Eliie in Santa Barbara. Abby honesty was a terrible character to play as and it just felt like Naughty Dog was just trying to make you feel something for her over a 10 hour period. There was one question that I was constantly asking myself while I was playing as Abby "Why am I playing as her when I am supposed to kill her and hate her, isnt she the main villain?"Like I dont want to play as the character that killed my favourite character. There honestly was some terrible decisions in the game dont get me wrong. But overall you cannot deny the endless hard work that the Naughty Dog team had done with this game. To give Naughty Dog credit they tried something new that they thought would actually be realistic. For a survial zombie game I thought that it was such a fun game and the gameplay was well thought out. The mechanics were great and I was super stressed out because I was playing on Survivor. I was constantly on the run and it felt like I couldnt breathe because of the intensity. The situations that Ellie is thrown into are super intense but that is what makes The Last of Us special. Overall The Last of Us Part II has many great qualities and many negatives. I would give the Gameplay of the last of us Part II a 8 and the story a 5. All of the Joel and ellie parts of the story were well done but as you played as Abby you dont really sympathize and care about her at all. The Gameplay was amazing and nice and smooth.     The game has not to be played and completed way too fast or you'll end up seriously destroyed, but what I'm sure is ND did the best thing ever.

I felt as if the character's were really well voiced by their respective voice actors. I found the gameplay fun and intuitive. Some mechanics were less so, but all in all a fun game to play.

    The ending may have been pretty lack luster and left a sense of desirability. But the main story I found to be quite enjoyable.    … Expand

    Everything you want from the modern game. Amazing visuals, amazing story telling, gameplay that is unrivalled in intensity and fluidity, a plot line that has you guessing and gripped until the very end. I’ve been waiting 7 years for this and it has been worth the wait. Avoid spoilers if you can and play this game through with a fresh untainted outlook.

    So I am a huge fan of the original and absolutely loved the sequel. The main complaints I have read so far have LGBT issues. If you are a homophobe and didnt play the prequel then this maybe not for you. Also maybe try developing some tolerance its 2020 you bigot.

    Graphically its amazing, great visuals and smooth textures. Controls a lot smoother than the first one and the combat feels a lot more fluid.

    Thr story is very well done, its heart breaking and heart warming all at in one. It creates drama and tension, makes you worry for the characters and even challenge your beliefs about well established characters. It is one of the most humanising games I have seen and really shows the effect of the characters choices.

    All I can say is go in with an open mind, it is different from the first but not in a bad way. This deserved a 10 and naughty dog deserves more praise than its getting. Sadly in todays world people cant think laterally and when something doesnt go their way they jump on their keyboard and slam the hard work that was put in rather than trying to understand the message of the game.    … Expand

    This game excels in every area.
    The gameplay, the score, the environment, the depth, all are fantastic. I think the story is what the game will be remembered for and with this the Last of Us 2 sets a new standard for stories in gaming.
    Everyone at Naughty Dog can be proud of this achievement, a true demonstration of a team who are at the pinnacle of their craft.

    10/10 A masterpiece.

    Great story, world building and some of the best visuals from a PS4 title. Looks amazing on my launch PS4. Most people who hate on the game don’t own it. Highly recommend

    Every aspect of this game is an 11! Anyone giving it a 0, reminds me of a child at Christmas crying because the brand new, awesome toy they got, wasn't the toy that they wanted. Also, I haven't seen anyone commending Laura Bailey for the phenomenal acting she done. It's a shame this game had to be promoted with barely a mention of her. Definitely her finest work to date. The gameplay is too similar to the first game, which in my opinion is outdated, but maybe they wanted to make it familiar to old players.

    The story of this game is absolute trash, they kill beloved characters just for the "viewer-shock" purpose of it, their deaths weren't well developed and didn't add up to the game in a hole.

    I will say this game would be good if it was a stand alone game not releated with the "The Last of Us Franchise", but they just destroyed everything the franchise was based on and replaced it with a poor story line. That said i will give it a 0 score because i think it's importante to spread the message that the community is not happy with it.    … Expand

    Su jugabilidad es muy buena ofreciendo momentos de verdadera tensión en combate, pero ni eso es capaz de salvar la pobre trama desarrollada al principio la cual finalmente rompen al final del juego, intromisión demasiado forzada de personajes y abandono de otros que venían desde antes, en otras palabras una historia con gran potencial arruinada por lo políticamente correcto....     Obviously the game isn't worth 0 or 1, please don't trust the haters, I also don't think it's worth 10 (I would have given this game a 9 but I'm trying to find a balance with the review bombing currently happening).
    Of course the story obviously isn't to everyone's liking, I get that. But even if you hated the story, every other aspect of this game isn't worth 0 or 1. Story wise this game will be divisive, personnaly it touched me and I found the narrative aspect of this game better than the first one. I would recommend it immensely.
    And on a last note, you can dislike the game for real reasons, but please stop talking about fake stuff like the hidden agenda, Neil being in the game or the presence of a white supremacist group. It's all fake.    … Expand

Hard storyline that will definitely not make unanimity. I had trouble accepting some parts of it because i loved the first game and its characters, and seeing what happens to them saddened me greatly. ND warned us, it is not a comforting game. They don't send rays of sunshine towars us (well, most of the time, e.g Ellie's birthday), which doesn't mean that i think the second opus is badly written. In fact, the story line (that some are so eager to call pure s*** out of anger due to a major character death) made me reflect and feel as I never had before with a video game. It is a masterpiece. The game is an intense experience, and whether you like it or not is up to you. For my part, i enjoyed the whole thing even if it was a hard journey.… Expand

    It will kick you in the stomach and tell you a story of vengeance and redemption: you will love it at the beginning, you will hate it in the middle and you will cry at the end!
    That's not what you expect: that's what you need! Forget all you know about TLOU and embrace the story: CAPOALVORO

    The Last Of Us part 2 is one the best game of the last 5 years so far. And it CANNOT be judged without being played. The majority of the people that rated it haven't played it yet. Even though the end is quite bad. It's a GOTY overall. The decade has just started and we already have one that will be remembered.

    Lo que molesta es el final, el final es una porquería anticlimatica y encima destroza al personaje de Joel por completo, sin duda es una de las decepciones más grandes que he tenido, otra cosa es la calificación exageradamente positiva que tiene según los especializados, ya que solo hablan del apartado técnico, pero curiosamente no hablan para nada de la historia, de sus huevos argumentales, de la hipocresía del mensaje y el final tan pésimo que tiene el juego, sin importar eso, en términos generales el juego es pasable y no se merece para nada el GOTY 2020.    … Expand

En general el juego me pareció bien, gráficos, gameplay tiene sus detalles como la IA de tus compañeros e historia, todos se quejan por la muerte de Joel pero si analizamos bien nadie ha muerto de una forma bonita, el mundo de TLOU es cruel y hablan del inicio y el final que todo el mundo esperaba la venganza y no lo hizo pero no dicen nada del transcurso del juego como en la historia de Abby te das cuenta que no es tan mala, te das cuenta que Ellie y Abby sufriendo pero cada quien a su manera y te hace empatizar con Abby. Por eso en resumen un guión que te haga sentir enojo, tristeza, bajones y dudar si quieres que Abby muera o no porque ya conoces por lo que paso Abby y sabes como es en realidad, en mi opinión es un buen guión tienes sus huecos así que por eso no es perfecto, como porque dejo vivir a Abby si Ellie nunca supo la historia de Abby y si forzan un poco la relación de Ellie y Dina pero nada que moleste es parte de la historia incluso se me hace original hacer que el personaje tenga diferentes atracciones y no sea siempre un H y M. En conclusión buen juego, buena historia, guión, gameplay, no merece un 10 pero tampoco una tan baja le doy un 8/10.… Expand

It's just crap, the only good thing I'll get out of it is the graphics, the gameplay is great and not bad, but when it comes to history, gameplay etc. it's just crap, totally boring and SINNER disappoints both the game itself and the ending, and the ending is so bad and disappointing and frustrating, they kill ellie's father figure in a ridiculous way (I mean, really? Joel didn't even trust his shadow and out of nowhere decides to save a stranger and let her take them to her shelter? it's like it wasn't joel), they kill their friends, they shoot him and blind in one eye practically his uncle, When we look for revenge they destroy us, And after we look for revenge again we let her go? not to mention we lose 2 fingers and the ability to play guitar, And if that wasn't enough, she abandons us and we end up alone, Losing everyone and we're left miserable. I know The Last of Us isn't a happy story, but please, is this a joke? The rest of the game obscures how little good this crap has. I doubt that Neil and the bunch of useless people who worked on it will see or care about our reviews considering the money he's making off of this crap. They turned a work of art and an incredible story that touched the hearts of millions of people into politically correct nonsense. If the companies keep this up, what's next?     Game starts with Joel cleaning a guitar to give to Ellie. A metaphor. He's cleaning his past, it doesn't go away. Yet he tries the best that he can, he gives the guitar to Ellie. Time passes, when he gives it to Ellie, he tells her a joke:

    what's the downward of eating a clock? It's time consuming.

    All the game revolves around this. Spending time doing things we think might be important, wasting time because those action take us away time to do things we really like with people we love.
    Revenge is one of those time wasting actions.
    This point is carried till the very end of the game.

    A specific fact puts everything in motion. In the prologue, Joel is killed by Abby. That's where the game starts.
    We're put in Ellie's shoes seeking revenge. That's not a "bad scene", that's not "bad writing". That's the main plotline, that's what people miss about this (maybe because they didn't even play the game).

    So, we're in Ellie's shoes and we are going after the WLF, Washington Liberation Front, a rebel group. Most of the game we're her seeking revenge. The narration lasts for 3 days, with flashbacks from the very end of The Last of Us to the very start of The Last of Us Part II. There's also another point of view. Abby's point of view, the one who killed Joel. Narration, takes the same diegetic timing, three days and four years flashbacks.

    We then discover Abby avenges his father's dead killing Joel. And Ellie avenges Joel killing everyone Abby loved.
    Everything is cyclical. Revenge brings even more revenge. Death brings death.

    The Last of Us revolves around the impossibility to separate what's bad from what's good. Subjectivity and pragmatism has always been the main focus of the first game. In the end we're left with just question, was Joel right? He saved the only person he really cared about, but he left the rest of the world dying. They put the whole Abby's story to be certain that you could understand that all the people (and sigh dogs) you killed with Ellie (and you didn't care about, because they were just NPCs) were actually someone for someone else than you. That's the whole point of both games. Choiches. Consequences.
    In the first game we're left with Joel killing people to save the one he really loves. Someone kills him because of this. Was he right? He killed for a loved one. Was Abby right? She also killed for a loved one. The point is: everyone is right, everyone is wrong. They did what they did because they felt it was the right thing to do. It was not the same for other people.

    In the end after a year, we are almost in another world, but Ellie is restless and still wants to kill Abby. She finds her a few states far, in California, where she's been held captive and tortured for two whole months. Ellie tries to kill what's left of her again, but in the end she gives up.
    Abby was wrong keeping on with the revenge loop, killing Joel. Ellie makes the right decision. She's not like Abby, she can be better. Yet she wasted a lot of time trying to have justice, when it was just another revenge. In the end, there's no one for her anymore. But, at the same time she found herself again, breaking the cycle, not killing anyone. That's the point.

    In the first game we save Ellie, someone else dies.
    In both games we kill people, someone else life will be over.

    I too felt like **** seeing Joel dying. But that's the whole point of the game. We feel like **** That's what a character might have felt seeing someone who they cared for dying. The game aimed for that "feel like **** feeling", they wanted you to feel anger against Abby. But in the end it tries to explain that anyone can "feel like **** every one can feel anger. Abby too.
    In conclusion, you felt like **** That's good because you were supposed to feel like **** but you're supposed to understand that you're not the only one. And who's right being angry? Everyone. You are justified in your anger, so Abby was. At the same time, no one. Someone you loved died, someone who they loved died too. If you want a punishment in a dialectical meaning, you also get it. Both Ellie and Abby lost everyone they loved at the hands of the other one, except for one only person. In the end Abby is also captured and tortured, a semi-extradiegetic revenge always used in storywriting, where the revenge is not served in the main plot but it is by something in the same universe.

    Characters makes you feel in world full of people, as opposed to the first game. You're not the only one fighting this, you got supportive people all along the way. And this is the main difference from the first game. You have someone to fight for. You have someone who would fight for you.

I'm not against the idea of Joel dying but it is not necessary to have it so violent. He is the loved protagonist from the past game and to have him killed in such a way is terrible. Also to have Ellie not kill Abby in the end is it terrible ending. After having Ellie kill all of these people just to get revenge and not get it is the worst kind of ending. It's like Thanos did all of his atrocities to get the stones and in the end not snap because he didnt feel like it. I loved TLOU 1 and that game is one of my favorites when it comes to the lore of the world and the zombie virus. I hope that the story ends here so Druckmann cant ruin another franchise even more.… Expand

    The Flashbacks take you out of the narrative flow and just serve to give the player agency in hunting the main antagonist.     O jogo sem dúvidas é o com melhor gráfico a geração é dublagem, mas a história peça em alguns fatores (na minha opinião) eles tinham que dar um gostinho de vingança ao game, podiam ter tirado o personagem que ebby salva que foi o por que ellie não matou ela, e se ela tivesse matado minha vida seria melhor, mas a história Ta sim muito boa o que mais peca é a trilha sonora.

    The gameplay and the overall mechanics are spectacular. I like that for the most part you can choose your path to finishing a level. Guns blazing, silent and stealthy or maybe a mix of both. However, there are a few parts I felt were meant to be no win scenarios where you have to bail out to the nearest exit... Or maybe I just really suck.
    I felt excited to see the game through and finish it which quite honestly doesn't happen a whole lot. I own more games than I'd like to admit and I think I can count on both hands how many I really enjoyed and couldn't wait to finish and when I did I hated that it was over. This game was one of them and I will definitely be playing through it a few more times mainly to bask in it more and play around with the mechanics a bit differently. Recognizing this is why I felt the game was excellent and would highly recommend other likeminded people to give it a play.    … Expand

    Alone. This game felt more like a horror game than the first one did. I felt overpowered and uncomfortable the entire time. If you liked the gameplay of the first one this is similar but expanded upon. There are beautiful moments in this game and I really enjoyed finding all the notes people left around the world. Also take you time to read through Ellie's journal periodically it really adds to the story. Overall I don't really get why people are so mad and I would recommend you play it took me about 22 hours. Final note you don't need to have played the first game it does a good job of telling you what you need to know at the beginning    … Expand
