Why are all the male characters idiots? Why did the dogs kill Joel? What I just went through?
There’s no story here. You just run for 20 hours and get no ending.

For 20 hours, you kill "bad guys" for revenge, and you let the last boss live. Why? What’s the motivation? What’s the point of all this? No response. The developers went crazy with this LGBT and forgot the story.

I’m convinced that only lesbians should buy this game. If you’re a white heterosexual, you love women, and you’re worried about your brain, don’t buy it! Don’t vote with your money!

Sadly, nowadays it is a legitimation for publishing bad content, feminism, homosexuality or anything else to implement "politically correct" in a video game or film. Because if the storyline/the gameplay doesn't please the masses or individuals, you are automatically a racist, homophobic, sick human being. Which is indeed not true, because the broad mass of players agrees with these values and norms and have empathy for the characters. Nevertheless, the story is still badly written and even worse told and does not automatically become a "masterpiece" by incorporating such values. Here is a short list of the points which, in my opinion, makes the story bad:

    1. Joel and Tommy behave completely out of character by giving a random group their names and address. TLOUP2 even provides the proof for this itself, because as Ellie said: Joel and Tommy were aware that Joel has many enemies. (This is illogical in the normal world alone, but in a post-apocalyptic world? According to the motto: I go to any random group, tell them my name and address and then invite them to empty my fridge, although I know them for 3-4 minutes? Difficult but, ok.)
    2. The way Joel died is not worthy of a main character of this caliber. The death of Joel was a inevitable consequence for a second part, but the production was simply off.
    3. The fact that you MUST play the murderer of Joel for about 10 hours after watching Joel being brutally tortured and killed by him is insane. The order is crucial for me, because afterwards the game tries to force you into empathy to this character, which is not possible for me anymore. Perhaps when the order would be different, the empathy as well as the understanding would be much higher.
    4. Tommy behaves again out of character, which is ironic, because he behaves neither as in the 1st part nor as he was presented in the 2nd part. Because first Tommy goes off alone to protect Ellie and others, then wants to go back with them, after they teamed up in Seattle and he was told that Dina is pregnant. He barely gets away with his life (which I think is very unrealistic, considering the wounding he was inflicted with) to put pressure on Ellie one year later to finally hunt down the murderer now, and to put her own life at stake, even though he knows that she has a family now? It just doesn't fit his character.
    5. Ellie's departure at the end was not necessary. She takes off for another month-long "journey", leaving behind child and wife to hunt down the murderer of Joel. Any normal person who is filled with such hatred (especially in an apocalyptic scenario) and has two fingers bitten off during the "final" fight, would beat or kick the murderer with so much rage until you are exhausted or the adrenaline leaves the body again. The fact that Ellie lets the killer go is not logical. And yes, that's the "moral" of the story, but the fact that hate creates more hate and that you only experience loss and suffering with blind thoughts/actions of revenge is something that was performed 4-5 hours of playing time earlier and so I think the end is a pure time shift.

I don't care if a main character is male/female, gay/lesbian, black/white, African/Asian (to make that clear), as long as the core of the storyline is well worked out and you can identify with the protagonists or antagonists, which was very well done in the first part, but was mocked in the second. Positive about the game is the graphic appearance, as well as the open world parts. The gameplay hasn't improved much, but gives the impression that it is a bit outdated. As a very emotional person who comes for a great story I can not rate this game better than 1.

My conclusion from The Last of us Part II is, that no matter if you like the game or not (in my opinion it was a bad game), it doesn't matter anyway, because it's always easier to put others in a pigeonhole than to accept justified criticism/feedback. In the end all that counts is how much money the product has made, regardless of how high quality it is.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To me there are borderline rules for story plots -- food is worthless as long as it is toxic, even if it looks good and smells attractive. A game is worthless as long as it is obnoxious to the point you lose your appetite to play. It is a pity for those reviewers that had to play (assuming they did) through and yet had to lie for whatsoever reason.

I cannot understand how characters from the prequel went casually consumed for nothing. This is a betrayal to players who went for the game for all the reputation it had before. And no, I don't even want to talk about unrealistic character design or what. It is the very first scene of the game that ruins the whole experience, which is almost impossible to salvage -- and of course they didn't end good enough to pull it back. I was in a shocked state throughout and had no idea what was I playing.

    What a pity.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Hello and good morning from where I am, I wanted to post this review starting with the fact that I would give this a 5-7 in the ratings but due to reasons I will soon talk about you will see why.

Firstly I would like to say this game is not bad visually, it is an extremely beautiful game and one of the most graphically splendid games in the last/current decade however the mechanics are not as they could be, assuming that the assumptions that Naughty Dog pushes their employees to the brink of insanity are true it is understandable but where it lacks in refinery it offers an excess in accessibility truly making it so that anyone who is anyone can finish the game which is good on their part.

    Now the issues.
Let me let out a disclaimer first, I have not played TLOU part 2 nor will I play.
The reason why my review is so low is because of the story, the build up and the way the media are handling it. Firstly the story is horrendous, I've seen better writing in shows like Eromanga Sensei (shameless plug) anyway so the story is bad, starting from the way Joel and Tommy where acting in the beginning, they were acting like they only been surviving for a few days which as we all know is a lie, Joel of all people would know better after all in the first game he was untrusting and over cautious, to the point where he could anticipate an ambush for him to go and die in such an obvious ambush is insulting. Then it gets worse, Joel death was not necessary but it was expected but they did not make it worth it because Elly goes through the game killing over hundreds of people but spares Abby because of reasons not explained, she had a flash-back of Joel and stopped. Why?! The game won't tell you, Neil won't tell you and the media won't tell you because there is no reason why except to get you to come back and buy the next game. If this were truly a story of the cycle of violence Abbey should have died in that moment and got her due reward for killing Elly's father figure, ruining her relationship, biting her fingers off and basically ruining her life.

Aside from the story we get Sony and Naughty Dog's blatant abuse of the copyright system and throwing out DMCAs to everyone who dared to even look at TLOU 2 leaks/memes the wrong way. I understand that you would want to keep these things uptight so you could make more money as a company but to abuse a system so much without consequence just because they talked about it is not okay and it will never be okay no matter what universe your in Naughty Dog and Sony will always be in the wrong in this situation. To add to the fire is Sony's double standard with censorship, so let me get this straight a 3-D fully acted scene in a game by a Sony exclusive is brilliant but a tiny bit of cleavage needs to be scrubbed from the face of the planet, that is not a good business practice, actually to be honest it isn't actually one or the other for this one anyway it isn't right what they are doing and should reevaluate their censorship rules.

Finally the media the media has decided to collectively group all the haters together and put a label on them like, their transphobic, homophobic, perfectgamephobic or bots there all bots, instead of reporting the actual issues like the DMCAs, false advertising, etc. they want to paint any failure on us bigots for not supporting the game, as a journalist they need to cover theses stories with divinity and grace, refraining from pushing the narrative for their own gains and the defeat and deflation on the opposing side.

That is why I must give it one. If you SJW, feminist **** people wanna kill me here's my twitter @LambdaOf_Chaldea try all you like to beat me down but you won't stop the truth from coming up and Metacritic if you delete this review you are admitting your helping Naughty Dog and you have your own terrible agenda to achieve by keeping them happy. I thank you for your time.

Forcibly using the death of the previous generation to sublimate the game is something that the weak will do. If you feel that such a storyline is used to perfunctory players, you have done it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you've ever watched Game Of Thrones, well...this is the "Game of thrones" of computer games.

The first "Last of us" was one of my top 5 games of all time.
Really felt attached to the characters and you really get to see Ellie and Joel become like father and daughter.

With LOU2 they completely change who Joel was as a person. Why would a man who has clearly done bad stuff in the past...
just randomly give his real name to a bunch of strangers, when they know the areas and who's around?! They (him and tommy) know there are people who may be after them because of Ellie/fireflies and their own past.

They give him one of the worst deaths within the story. No build up to it...no nothing.

Then they make you spend half the game playing as the person who murdered Joel in an attempt to make you feel sorry for her(Abbi), even though she doesn't have any remorse for the people she kills throughout the story. Ellie only wants revenge for Joel and you see that in the situations where she kills people, you see her heart breaking because in every situation...you(Ellie) are attacked first and HAVE NO CHOICE but to kill in defence.(the game doesn't give you any other options)

    Absolutely butchered this game!

This game COULD HAVE been really good, even with this "Abbi wants revenge" as the games basis...even if Joel died ....but they played it all completely wrong...

If you can't connect to the characters, how are you expected to enjoy or at least have 'the want' to play this game.
And the fact that they keep trying to block any sort of constructive criticism from the public (y'know, the people that they want to take money off of) especially on social media is a joke!

I came away feeling not that I had participated in anything, but that I had been subjected to something.

The game is a technical marvel, but the story is off-putting, and not because it has anything to do with the first installment of the franchise. Even if you've never played the first game, the second is a travesty. Reading critic reviews, they tend to fall back on the old trick of saying the game's bleak idiom "is not for everyone" or that "some people just don't get it". Some even claim that distaste for the game is due to misogyny or insensitivity to gender/sex/sexuality issues. I think that's lazy and pretentious.

In order to play this game and enjoy it you need to have a marked lack of empathy. You need to be something of a masochist. That's not why I play a game. Certainly, difficulties in games are welcome, as are moral dilemmas, but you can't have a game that strings them together so poorly that all the characters feel two-dimensional and thoroughly loathsome.

Game play is excellent, the visuals are stunning, physics are extraordinary, and I know it's a "survival" game. Yet, I hated absolutely every character in it, then hated myself for having had to go along with the script and not being able to play the game as I would have preferred.

The experience was, all in all, absolutely negative.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I beat this game in 20 hours. I streamed the whole thing. I feel as if I can give a justified review.
We waited for so long. I waited for a game that kept me up at night, dying from excitement to play it. The first game actually prompted me to go out and buy a PS4. This game was supposed to be above and beyond all expectations.
    Oh how we were wrong.
    STOP: Don't get me wrong
It was still graphically and mechanically an amazing game! Loved every bit of that.
    BUT
I'm sure I speak for a lot of people when I say that the story was absolutely awful. Who in their right mind would've assumed that the fans liked the way this one played out? We saw no resolution to any conflict. Let's start at the first mistake.
Naughty Dog did Joel SO dirty. Who is the bright mind that thought the route they took, was a good one? A character with several layers and stories, SNIPPED so early on? Not to mention the intuition and intellect Joel possessed was just mindlessly disregarded when he was shot and beaten like a dog. How on Earth are we supposed to just accept that? A man, a survivor, just shot and beaten like that? No. Big plot hole there. No way that was Joel. Absolutely disgraceful.
Then Abby's story? NO ONE ASKED FOR THAT! If someone did, please point me in their direction as I'm at a loss.
So you're telling me, out of all of the incredible minds at Naughty Dog, THIS was the best story line you could come up with? This?? This misdirection and deceit you've pressed upon your fans is borderline criminal. I'm sure there are hundreds upon hundreds of fan fictions capable of surpassing this sorry excuse for a story, tenfold.
The ending to this game is just depressing. It's depressing to the point that it has ZERO replay value. I played the first one 3 times over as it was just THAT good and had such a hopeful message. It was an incredible story. How did you lose you way? Who came up with such a sad and tragic ending? Who would want to feel that way again? Ellie coming home and being 100% alone. She has no one. Unless there was something I missed, she's alone.
I know I'm not the only one furious that after SO long, we were given a sorry excuse for a story. No one asked for Abby. Everyone screeched their lungs out at the sound of Joel's voice during the first reveal. Was that not enough of a sign? NO ONE ASKED FOR ABBY OR HER STORY! NO ONE!
(not to say I didn't like it, but how dare you think that takes priority over the characters we all know and love)

TLDR: Don't play it if you don't want your heart shattered into a million pieces and be left feeling SO disappointed.

The Graphics, Music, Audio, And mainly the scene with Ellie singing and playing Take on Me, Those are the only good things about this game and that's why it deserves at least a 1. Why force the player to play as the "Villain" she was the villain no matter what, you can say she was justified but if you asked every parent in the world 99.9% of parents wouldn't sacrifice someone who is basically a child to them mainly after already losing a child. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. You can never ever truly understand a story. If you weren’t completely physically or emotionally involved. So we do our best to judge the experience due to the amount of information we are given. TLOU 2 could not have been more Clear. It’s a Revenge story. TLOU pt1 was a story searching for an answer that we never got. “Is Ellie Truly the cure to mankind?” You are left questioning yourself if what you did as Joel was absolutely 100% all worth it. I guess we will never know now. TLOU 2, things we can all agree on. Mechanically the game works well nothing revolutionary but it works. The game looks good we expected that. I mean we are at the end of the PS4’s life line. Musically, sound, & audio etc....of course it sounds great as it should. Story...well...now here’s something that we disagree on. It all depends on your quest. 4yrs have gone by & that’s a long time. Lots have happened in the world since we last saw Joel & Ellie. In an instant the entire plot of TLOU pt1 goes down the drain because of a character seeking revenge. Immediately it leaves the player thinking WTF just happened?! If NaughtyDogs purpose was to create a part in a game. To go down as the most upsetting Scene to ever be written in video game history. They just won the award for that! Congratulations NaughtyDog! Put yourself in Abbys shoes for one second. I wonder how many Abbys exist in the world of TLOU. Maybe the world was filled with Abby’s since the very beginning. We didn’t see that because we were so concern on hoping that we would find a cure. If you play as Abby and you can relate & sympathize for this Character. In your quest this is who you are in the world of TLOU. I think most of us were seeking and still searching for answers. That’s the Quest that we were hoping for. RIP Joel, we still don’t fully understand WHY. Expand

The game has many issues with the story and weird pacing and unlikable characters and has completely misses the mark on what made the fist game so good.
Shock value for the sake of being shock value does not make a story good.
Almost all the deaths are dry and even some characters act as if the character that just died never even existed.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After waiting 7 years for a game which had promise and high expectations, Naughty Dog has proven to somehow break their trust with fans and anticipated gamers. The gameplay is one of the most enjoyable aspects of the game because it has kept the consistancy of the first game with a few upgrades and tweaks. The storyline however, the biggest reason why fans fell in love with the first game, was the most lacking. It is clear that Naughty Dog has created a sloppy storyline based on inconsistant character development and its clear shift to focussing on new characters. Joel's death is one that most to all fans expected but the timing and execution is why the story has failed. His character in this game is clearly inconsistent with the first game as the Joel that all fans have come to love was cautious, on high alert, and not trusting of new faces. Therefore, it is not clear why in part 2, he would trust a new character, walk into an environment where he can be ambushed and then introduce himself, all while knowing the reputation he built on the first game. Secondly, the sequence of events of this game is what makes Abby a highly unlikeable character. If we learnt about her past along with Joel and Ellie's adventure after the hospital, this would have made a stronger built up tension and when Joel was killed, would have had a better pay off and stronger moral dilemma between the revenge. Joel and Ellie's relationship is also dropped which is another factor in its problem. Naughty Dog, why in the world would you get rid of the reason why fans love the story and the game in the second part to replace it with revenge and new characters, fans did not wait 7 years to see. It is clear that the overarching theme of this game is revenge. It is not a good theme. Considering Joel and Ellie's relationship had hardships because of the betrayal, it would have made more sense to make the theme forgiveness. While Abby faces the concequences of the loss of her father, we also follow the storyline of Joel telling Ellie the truth, and then Ellie learning to forgive Joel to bring them back together. When this happens, Abby hunts Joel down and then kills him. By this point, Joel and Ellie's has had a proper conclusion, both characters fully developing. By killing Joel in the beginning and only finding out that Ellie was open to forgiveness the night before his death, provides no closure to the story. Furthermore, forgiveness can also include hope which the first game featured. Hence why certain scenes in the first game lifted up the mood and released tension. Part 2 however, is solely based on revenge and because of this, most of the game is depressing and frankly, off putting. Personally, I found myself stopping half way through because of the toll it took on my mental health. Yes, it is sad he died, why can't there be sections of hope? Times where the game is so beautiful you just have to sit in awe. Instead, this franchise has become based on a depressing plot. I found myself turning on something overwhelmingly happy like Animal Crossing or SpiderMan PS4 to keep myself feeling happy. Learning Abby's story after killing one of the most loveable characters also makes her a lot more unlikeable. While it is known that sequals are worse than the first, Naughty Dog has created a new low of which many game developers will never reach.
    Naughty Dog, you **** up.

Treats known and established characters like nobody's and tries to justify the actions of the characters who kill them AFTER they do so??? In what world did they think that would work out? Ending is also extremely undeserved, with after establishing ellie as blindly seeking revenge just having her go ooo killing is bad at the last possible second when she already has nothing left to lose. Story wouldn't be a big issue if this was a gameplay focused game, but as it stands, like the first one, the gameplay is just a slow, gritty, boring uncharted with no puzzles. Expand

I DONOT understand why Abby kill Joel so early.
-> Since Joel dead early of the story, I CANNOT focus on Abby. However, you want to focus and understand Abby. And Joel is the main character of previous series. However, Abby who whole new character killed Joel with golf club. And Joel's dead was NOT a noble and was NOT sacrifice for Ellie. You think this is make sense??

    2.
I DONOT understand why Ellie DIDN'T KILL Abby.
And why Ellie recalled Joel who play the guitar when she almost killed Abby?
-> If you want to express emptiness and meaningless of revenge, you MUST express after killing Abby first.
If you intend the relation between Abby and Lev to be similar Joel and Ellie's relationship, and if this is why Ellie didn't kill Abby, this game is JUST PIECE OF NUCLEAR WASTE. Relationship between Abby and Lev is NOT parents and children and this relation EVEN NOT a lover.

    3.
Abby got somebody but Ellie lost everyone.
-> Abby killed Joel and lost friends, but she got Lev.
However, Ellie lost father, friend, lover. And she lost fingers to play the guitar which only left connection to Joel.

Ellie DIDN'T revenge but lost more than Abby who did revenge and whole new character. KEKW

    Conclusion :
Neil Druckmann stuck in his own thoughts. So he didn't think about completeness of the game and deceive previous series players.
Considering graphic team and actors, I give 1/10, not 0

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is an absolute disappointment. The graphics were okay and voice actors on point therefore the 1 point. Sadly the story, the most important thing imo, was so bad and forced and cringy that i cant give the game more than one point. Now some spoilers about that disgusting story, so pls dont read beyond this point if you havent played the game....
I feel like this game was just made to promote political stuff. Like i support different sexualities and that women are equal to man and all that but come on dont force that stuff on me when i am trying to play an action game. Things like abby looking like an absolute machine who never skips working out and supplements in a time with extreme food shortage and all that is just pathetic. And Mel jumping from a solid 3 Meters as pregnant women like its the most casual thing made me cringe so hard. They also killed almost every male character (mostly by women) and not a single female character was killed by a man. And yeah letting Joel die like that and then frocing me to play that joke of a Character called Abby to force me to sympathize with her made me almost quit the game. There are still so many things to complain about but i dont want to waste any more time on that trash and neither should you.
    My opinion: a generous 1/10

Fallout/TESV/GTA/BOTW)

BOTW/Hitman)

Why would Joel say his name to a bunch a random strangers he just met and also why did Tommy say that you can come our place and restock to a group of random people. Then the worst part is when you play as Abby you will have to choke Ellie out which felt very uncomfortable. The whole Revenge plot was just absolutely GARBAGE. Why would Ellie KILL hundreds of people that didn't have to do anything with Joel's death just to get to Abby only to then let Abby go at the end??? You can see that this game tried portray as if Ellie is the main villain in this story and Abby the hero. Literally nothing happens to Abby in this game she got what she wanted and Ellie loses EVERYTHING, friends, family and what she was fighting for. Although being brutally beaten to death in front of Ellie is a slap to the face to the character and the fans. Joel & Tommy would’ve never been that complacent. The game play/mechanics are amazing, but I can’t get passed how Joel was killed. Then out of nowhere you play as Abby for 10hours!? Another slap to the face. Then to top it off Ellie let’s her go at the end. The motivation to excel in the game is to get revenge... and you let her go? Makes Ellie look weak and ignorant. Ellie lost everything... Joel (father figure), her gf (&JJ), 2 fingers bitten off (now she can’t play guitar), Tommy lost an eye, and SHE DIDN'T AVENGE JOEL!!!! That’s a slap to the face to Tommy’s character as well. She had no problem killing everyone else but the one person that started it all gets to go free? It was poorly written. I think they had some administrative issues within ND that was prolonging the release and they quickly slapped together this trash. I feel personally let down. As do many other gamers.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let me preface this review with my low score has nothing to do with politics. Everyone should have representation in gaming. I don’t want my review to be disregarded as a “review bomb” or that I’m a bigot for not liking the game. I wanna get the technical aspects of the game out of the way. Hands down this is one of the most beautiful games I’ve ever played. ND has crafted a beautiful world filled with detail. Every new scene makes you go “wow” The detail crafted into the world and the game is stunning. Characters look super detailed and you can really appreciate the effort that went into them when you look at the model viewer. Animations are so fluid and feel so natural. The way foliage moves and bends as your character walks through is crazy. So many times I’ve seen games where I try to do something in the world they’ve crafted and I can’t. So many times in this game have I said “I bet I can’t do X” to immediately perform X animation and it left me stunned. This game world looks and feels real. Hands down this game is a beautifully crafted technical masterpiece. That being said I did NOT buy the game for the visuals or the gameplay. For a game like this I consider it a plus if Its good or fun to play. TLOU1 had an amazing story with a lot of tedious moments and puzzles but its worth playing again and again just for the story. I find myself replaying TLOU1 and loving it even though how tedious some of it is. TLOU2 is about 24-26 hours long depending on how fast you move through it. Last of Us Part 1 is about 13-16 hours long. I mentioned that because in the TLOU1 I feel there is never a dull moment. The pacing is quick and keeps you engaged constantly. In TLOU2 it feels like it has A LOT of boring padding. There was so many times I said “please let this part be different.” “What’s the point of this?” “please stop padding the game and let’s just continue the story.” Let’s talk about the characters. TLOU1 has a small strong cast of characters. They’re all memorable and iconic. In the TLOU2 there were so many times I was like “who is this again” “why do I care about their death?” “We only saw them moments earlier and they had no development.” “why introduce new characters this late in the game? I don’t care about them.” I feel there are moments in the game that should be rearranged. We kill characters then get to know them as Abby. Shouldn’t it be the other way around so we feel bad about it? Most of Abbys friends feel the same. I couldn’t really remember if I had killed them as Ellie or not. They just felt pointless. The game feels packed to the gills with people and not in a good way. I killed so many people and felt nothing. It all felt pointless. Give me a small cast of characters and make me feel for them. Don’t make me kill 20 people and then show they had friends and family. That’s not the right way to tell a story at all. The reason Joel’s death is so hard hitting is because we journeyed with him across the country. We’ve been through hell with him. His death feels cheap and and is where the running start of the game trips and falls. When Abby kills Joel you burn like Ellie does. You want blood. How could ND just kill off such a well written character only to replace him with 4 that we have no time to get to know before they die? So you set off to kill Abby. Then the game switches your control over to Abby. At this point I honestly thought about stopping the game but continued. Honestly they should have taken an entire game to develop Abby and her friends. I wouldn’t have even been mad if this title was a spin off that didn’t have Joel or Ellie in it at all. This game has too many ideas to really do anything with. The bones of the story are okay though. The execution is not. Okay most of the gameplay is tedious and makes you beg for it to end and the story has A LOT of issues. So I ask what is the point of the game? Abby let’s Ellie live soooo many times just to be surprised to see her. It’s ludicrous. Ellie literally threw her happy family away with Dina just to kill Abby and then to not even kill her? Also what happened to Dina and JJ. you’re telling me they really cleaned out the house and moved? In a zombie filled world they packed the uhaul and just moved? Abby threw her life away for two people she knew for less than 2 days? Makes no sense. Lev and his sister were introduced too late to be meaningful. I honestly didn’t care for them at all. This game has too many “oh the humanity the tragedy of revenge!” Points in it and feels pretentious. And the end of the game I just felt hollow and disappointed and unfulfilled. I kept saying “what was the point of this game?” They didn’t need to make this game. I feel like I wasted my time and games shouldn’t make you feel like that. You should feel accomplished for beating it not empty. This is not worth a buy IMHO. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Finished the game and honestly felt disappointed. The best part of the game was the flashbacks, and the open area section in the beginning with Ellie. I enjoyed the dialogue and it reminded me of the first game. I hated Abby and did not care for her story in the slightest. Didn’t feel sympathetic towards her or her bland friends(looking at you Owen) and it was a 10 hour section I just wanted to be over to get back to Ellie. I think it would’ve been a better story if Ellie met Lev somehow and discovered he was being hunted because he got bit by an infected but turns out to be immune. Abby discovers it when Lev and Yara saved her and goes to get Lev to somehow get the cure again which Ellie didn’t provide. Ellie bonds with Lev and Yara and replace her in all of Abby’s sections. Abby will continue to hunt down Lev with friends forcing Ellie to kill everyone just like Joel did and Ellie will find meaning in why Joel did what he did and forgive him. And you get to kill Abby! I think the games story could’ve been done better as it didn’t hit the emotional beats at all and felt awkward and clunky at times. Music was good but felt lacking somehow. I honestly don’t think game has good iconic moments like Tess dying or Bill discovering his partner died or Henry killing Sam. It had moments like Abby discovering her friends died or Ellie seeing Jesse died or Joel being beaten to death which made no sense for his character for trusting them. All the moments are just shock value with no emotional weight behind it. There wasn’t a point to the plot or a good resolution towards it. WE GET IT REVENGE IS BAD. You’ll lose everything if you get revenge. Then why did Ellie lose everything and Abby gets to have something for killing Joel. Ellie lost her fingers, Dina, JJ, the baby, Jesse, relationship with Tommy is ruined, and can’t have a resolution with Joel and doesn’t get to kill Abby while ABBY A CHARACTER WE HATE, gets to live, gets to save Lev and gets to go back to the fireflies. How could you do this to Ellie a beloved character. This was suppose to be her story. I felt so disappointed in the ending and felt like the story should’ve gone in so many other possible directions. Give the players choices or at least don’t alienate them or make them play as a character they will automatically hate. Story writers need to stop subverting expectation for the sake of subverting expectation. You only do that if it fits the narrative and flows well otherwise you’ll get a crappy story like The Last Jedi, Game of Thrones season 8, and The Last of Us Pt II. Expand

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
