    A great achievement, genuinely pushing the state of the art of the medium on several levels. Also depressing, ruthless, extremely graphic and arguably at times cruel to the player. Beware, I guess.

    On a technical level the game is absolutely incredible. The quality of the visuals is amazing, and even more so considering the hardware its running on. Tons of beautiful environments.    A great achievement, genuinely pushing the state of the art of the medium on several levels. Also depressing, ruthless, extremely graphic and arguably at times cruel to the player. Beware, I guess.

    On a technical level the game is absolutely incredible. The quality of the visuals is amazing, and even more so considering the hardware its running on. Tons of beautiful environments. Animation quality is generally extremely high. The new rope physics are very impressive.

    Exploration, combat and stealth gameplay generally works really well. Searching for and gathering loot can become a bit tedious. Jumping and platforming is a weak point. Certain doors and other passages can trigger a change in location which you can't reverse for no real reason other than the game simply not letting you, breaking immersion a bit if you missed some loot in the previous room. Accuracy RNG for ranged weapons isn't really a fun mechanic but you don't notice it very often. Upgrading weapons and skills is pretty underwhelming, but also not distracting.

    The narrative is very straightforward. Closer to a character study (of some great characters) than a grandiose story. The acting is excellent. Just like in the first game the playable characters are not defined by the player. Moral choices are made by the characters without player interaction. There is quite a bit of nonlinearity in the narrative, most notably including a /very/ long (too long) intermission between the start and conclusion of a pivotal scene.

    Easily one of the best games of its type of this console generation. Congratulations to the team.    … Expand

Joel’s character was assassinated more than just in the literal sense. And finally the majority of the game playing as the person who murders beloved characters.     Un capolavoro videoludico. Il gioco ti trascina su questa giostra di emozioni pazzesca, pieni di alti e bassi assurdi. La grafica e il comparto tecnico riescono ad arrivare ad un livello clamoroso rendendo il gioco il migliore in questo ambito attualmente. Vorrei fare davvero i complimenti agli sviluppatori per aver creato e scritto un gioco del genere.

    the gameplay is the same but slightly more polished and smooth if you liked the gameplay of the previous one you won't have any problems with this.

    If you played the first game and you like the gameplay then you are gonna love part 2. It's much better in every way. It got alot of good game scenes and intense moments. I would give the gameplay a 9/10 The down side is the story that is really bad if you compare to the first game. But the thing is that it has alot of good moments too.     It's a fine game. The graphics, animations, sounds are great. The story and gameplay are not so much. It varies too much and the characters motives don't make sense. I constantly disagreed with what was happening and the game never gave me a choice as the player. I could just have watched this as a movie or a very drawn out series and I would've probably fell asleep and abandoned it.

    The story and characters are not the best, but not as bad as others quite make it out to be. They are just butthurt about Joel dying and having to play as another person than Ellie (maybe 2/5 of the game).    … Expand

    I finally finished it. It’s a masterpiece. It really really is. I hate yet to read through all the hate as I have been avoiding spoilers, but whatever it is (and I can guess) people are **** stupid.

    Play the game, then keep playing it. Even if you think it’s going in a direction you don’t like, stick with it. Fuuuuuck.

    Just finished the game and I have to say it was an average experience. Normally I would give it a 6/10 because it has beatifull graphics and ok-ish combat, but because of the fanboys rating the game a 10 I have to give it a 0 to even the overall score.

    Overall graphic, game-play mechanics and lightning are so good but the story is just sad and emotionally draining. If you're playing video games for escapism then this game is not for you.

    Absolutely phenomenal game with stunning visuals and gameplay. It takes what is so special about the first game and improves upon it in nearly every way. Definitely a must play for any Naughty Dog fan.

While killing Joel isnt a bad idea, the way it was executed was poor and theres so many character inconsistences, early in the game Ellie doesnt accept Seths apology and gift for his offensive comments "loud mouthed dyke". Which is justifiable but Ellie cant bring herself to kill Joel's killer snd lets her live. Whats worse is that Abby technically gets her revenge but not Ellie. It tried way hard to be subverted but it failed miserably. The only reasons why im giving it an 8 is because of the fantastic gameplay, graphics, voice acting and music… Expand

    If Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Revelations 2 had a baby with Silent Hill 2 and the Telltale Walking Dead series, IT WOULD BE THIS GAME!! I enjoyed every minute of it. I loved the puzzles, the scavenging for supplies, the exploring , and the BRUTAL KILLS! A LOT of work went into this game and it shows. Definitely an emotional roller coaster.     This is a masterpiece. Very harsh plot, but everything happens in a post-apocalyptic world, otherwise it can not be. I liked everything. We are waiting for the next games from Naughty Dog they are the best in this business.

    Thoroughly enjoyed the game and was engaged with the story throughout. The Abby storyline made sense and her section of the game made me understand the characters motivations.
    Game play wise I enjoyed how they improved from the original and the new accessibility features are something that I can see many companies applying in the future.

    My biggest complaint was that there were too many collectibles. I enjoyed reading the artifacts and the journals, however the trading cards and coins were a little overkill on the collecting.

    I understand that some people don't like the direction ND went, but I feel it made it a stronger story. Overall, as long as you go in with an open mind then I think many will enjoy the story.    … Expand

    On the other hand, the story and characters are tumblr fanfiction-tier. Plot holes everywhere, characters who are utterly unhinged, irrational, completely despicable, and impossible to relate to if you're even remotely well-adjusted. Coupled with the fact that they're being played by actors, who, by their performances illustrate that they've never gone through real hardship or horror makes for a final group of performances that, while basically competent, still fall off as insincere and unbelievable.

    To solidify this game's place in the middle of the road comes the gameplay. Bog-standard AAA "stealth" mixed with somewhat chunky gunplay, and all of it marred by "I am in love with my animations" syndrome that so many AAA developers seen to suffer terribly from in recent years makes the gameplay in and of itself wholly unremarkable and translates into a forgettable experience.

    The environments, while very pretty and full of detail, feel like video game levels more than they do organic settings, and do extremely little more than make a player stop for a few seconds to take a screenshot and move on without much second thought.

    For brevity's sake I will stop it here, because you get the gist. This is the game. A hundred-million dollar project that feels like the entire budget was spent on the graphics/sound team, and then left to some college student interns to write, direct and produce. College interns who think that Twitter and the CW are the pinnacle of cultural and artistic insight.    … Expand

Honestly, this is by far the most disappointing, depressing , Poorly written story I've ever played in a video game. The game had major pacing problems, everytime you reach a climatic moment, like the ending, its another 10 hour flashback. another flashback, after another flashback after another. They could have told the story better,, alot better. They ruin joels character and **** on him, he never speaks up or tells ellie why he did what he did. ellie doesn't kill abby in the end. Which is dumb, and abby goes all the way to the theater to kill ellie for killing her friends and then doesn't kill her.. it makes no **** sense.. abby never tells ellie why he did it, she just walks off. Nobody cares about abby! And all the focus is on abby. We came here for ellie and joel. Ellie has turned into a broken non likeable character. If your a big fan of the last of us, dont buy this. Neil should never write a story again, oh its also really boring… Expand

    O jogo é bonito, tem um cenário muito bem feito, porém tem muitos bugs sim, eu joguei posso dizer que tem, a mídia supervalorizou este game, é um jogo mediano, história "boa" porém o final muito ruim, resumindo jogabilidade excelente, gráficos lindos mas pelo fato da história ser tão fraca e forçada e ter alguns bugs, que sim atrapalham em algum momento, vai ser esta nota.

I want to speak about the game and give it the most objective assessment, as I am a very long-time fan of this series of games and games Studio Naughty Dog. You can talk about it a lot, but I will start with all the provocative plot. 1. Plot and narration: I adequately accepted the main character's relationship and subsequent LGBT scenes. The fact is that the consequence of the cause of revenge is completely empty. This is an accident! If Joel hadn't found Abby's father, then Abby wouldn't have come looking for him, and everyone would have been happy. Joel had killed too many people along the way, and surely all the children of his murdered parents wouldn't follow him?! The ending is very confusing and does not give a clear answer. Or just Ellie takes too long to come up with this answer, for which they built an entire location. I have no complaints about the very last moment. Ellie realized that it was time to stop. That violence won't get her anywhere and that she should just move on. But she realizes this too late, and the audience absorbs it and remains with the open ending. 1.1.Narrative: The Last of Us-was the most breakthrough project in the history of video games. It was perfect for everything from building locations, to minor dialogues (of course, the soundtrack, story and gameplay in addition), but when I think about this game, I imagine one big journey with a large number of different characters. And for me personally the problem was the fact that a large part of the game depends on one great location - Seattle. And all the characters are shown to us there, but unfortunately they are almost not disclosed, such as the antagonist Isaac, who was randomly removed as much as possible. It seems to me that the screenwriter of "wild West World" mostly ruined the project, rather than improved it.! 7/10! . 2. the Soundtrack. Disappoint you. It has become much smaller. For those who played in the first part., remember the last moment with David on the penultimate location. Everything was perfect and professional in terms of cinematography. A perfectly set stage and music playing at the right moment, and most importantly WHAT kind of music. Even when you normally listen to OST The Last of Us, every piece gives you goosebumps or tears. There was almost no such thing here. Perhaps Gustavo Santaolaglia has outlived everything, but something very remarkable was not.! 7.5/10! 3. Graphics and technical features: THIS is THE most TECHNOLOGICAL GAME that exists at the moment. Comparison with RDR2: RDR2 was done for about 7 years. It is also a very technological game and still in the open world. And TLoU Part ll was created for 6 years, but without an open world. I can assume that due to the limited location (although they are already huge there), you can work out every detail in the game and NAUGHTY DOG did it. 9.5/10 . 4. Gameplay: good old stealth action, only many times improved. The game can work out a lot of game situations. And this is one of the main rules of gameplay. Shooting is worked out to the smallest detail and with all the tin. But again, they have already lost the concept. They introduced some unusual mechanics, but the stealth concept itself did not change at all. 9/10. VERDICT: The Last of Us Part ll is an Arthouse story with a mediocre script, but with the best gameplay and graphics at the time of 2020. 8.25/10. I will put 9, since the score of 4.4 is undeserved for such a good game… Expand

    When the game isn't boring (not that much), the combat is really fun and satisfying. But overall this improves upon nothing, has a worse story and slightly less boring and shallow game. Not saying it isn't shallow.

I just couldn't sympathize with Abby at all, even though the game tried really hard to get me to like her. And it's not like I can't like someone who does kill one of fav. characters. In other TV shows and games I could not forgive them but I got to like them, but not with Abby. I went in to the game thinking there is no way I won't like the game. I thought all the hate was just from butthurt people who didn't want that Joel died or that ellie is lesbian.. But I really didn't enjoy my time with the game.
    It's not just the fact that I played as Abby but also that they teased the climax and then made me play 10 hours only thinking about what would happen. I think if they would have made me switch the characters more often like 2 times a day and changed the story so it would still make sense I could have really enjoyed it. But that just wasn't the case. And games for me are not all about enjoyment but it just dragged on and on.. And I could only think about ending the game.
    So I really thinking a few small changes (not the story) could have made me like Abby much more and so made me more invested in the story. For example I didn't give a fluff about lev or his sister or anyone who was with abby. There are also a few things that I can't really believe would have really happened the way they did like when we get to play as Abby chase down ellie through the curtain. Ellie could have just taken her shotgun and wait for Abby to open the door and shoot her in the knee but I can live with these mistakes. Im just really sad I couldn't enjoy the game that much.)(I also need to say that I played hellblade senua sacrifice and I felt really uncomfortable and needed to stop many times playing it because it made me feel sick in my head but even though the ending also was really sad I could enjoy it much more than tlou2.) Oh and also the other aspects of the game are top notch. Graphics, sound, music, acting,and the world. The game play got pretty boring after 20 hours. So in the end I wouldn't say the story was bad it was just in a unfortunate order. I don't know if it really only deserves a 3/10 but just really didn't enjoy it so...    … Expand

The game has beautiful graphics, impeccable mechanics and, there is no way not to comment, a spectacular sound mix, both with its music (composed by Gustavo Santaolalla) and with the sound of the environment and of each action that the characters perform, leaving the experience even more intense.

    It makes me sad and frustrated to see the negative criticisms for this game, especially those that refer only to the fact of the sexual orientation of some characters, but the disgust for the plot and the decisions made by the characters makes it seem that many people did not play the entire game, or they played expecting something more artificial. They forget that in this game four years passed after the events of the first part, and that lives changed for several reasons during that time, some for the better and others for the worse. Once again I comment, this game is completely human and it is necessary for the player to be open to explore the feelings that the game provides.     Si vous vous demandez pourquoi les notes sont aussi différentes dans les avis c'est parce que plusieurs choses peuvent diviser dans ce jeu :
    - le scénario et ses thèmes principaux : la haine, l'amour, la mort, la vie, la séparation, le lien    Sans crier au chef d’œuvre, je pense que l'on aime ou pas, toute personne qui a vraiment joué à ce jeu jusqu'au bout n'en est pas sorti indifférent.
    Si vous vous demandez pourquoi les notes sont aussi différentes dans les avis c'est parce que plusieurs choses peuvent diviser dans ce jeu :
    - le scénario et ses thèmes principaux : la haine, l'amour, la mort, la vie, la séparation, le lien père-fille, les regrets, la vengeance et ce qu'elle engendre, le pardon, les différentes facettes d'une même histoire.
    - le gameplay : il permet beaucoup de possibilités, on peut jouer tout en infiltration ou en gros bourrin, mais les munitions étant limitées c'est déconseillé, à part peut-être en "facile" où apparemment y a plus d'objets dispos.
    On peut foncer dans le tas à coup de flèches explosives et grosse mitraillette ou trouver la bouche d'aération cachée en hauteur ou l'espace sous le camion. Le mieux étant bien sûr un mélange des deux.
    Sinon on peut aussi tuer tout le monde en attaques furtives comme j'ai vu sur certaines vidéos (après avoir fini le jeu) et là on se rend le jeu particulièrement répétitif je pense. Je vous déconseille de jouer de cette manière.

    Mon avis :
    - Avant tout, parce que j'ai vu des commentaires pas très intelligents dire ça plusieurs fois : oui j'ai joué et fini le 1er y a 7 ans, oui je l'ai adoré, oui j'ai joué au DLC Left Behind où on apprenait l'homosexualité d'Ellie (oui parce que certains découvrent ça maintenant mais on le sait depuis 2014) et NON je ne suis pas senti trahi par ce qui se passe dans cette suite.

    - le scénario : j'ai vraiment aimé. Le parallèle entre les histoires des deux "héroïnes" qui n'en sont pas vraiment, nous fait vraiment réfléchir sur ce qu'est la vengeance et la haine. En tant que joueur, en connaissant tout de l'histoire de chaque côté (n'oubliez pas de lire votre carnet de notes d'ailleurs régulièrement), on en vient à se demander qui a raison et qui a tort, ou si les deux ne sont pas juste aveuglées par leurs émotions et en fait assez identiques au final.
    On se posait déjà un peu la question à la fin du 1er : sauver une personne et condamner l'humanité ?
    Ici à la place des Lucioles on a un peu l'équivalent avec les WLF, sont-ils juste des meurtriers sanguinaires ou ont-ils une raison plus profonde d'agir comme ils le font ?
    Bref, on passe par toutes sortes d'émotions, la joie, la peine, la colère, le sentiment de trahison, et le jeu nous met parfois volontairement dans l'inconfort de la haine, nous force pour nous montrer l'erreur que c'est.
    Un autre bon point c'est que si on fait bien tout, qu'on lit et écoute tout, on a une histoire vraiment complète, du coup pas besoin de DLC, pas de jeu en kit.

    - le gameplay :
    au début, me souvenant de comment j'avais joué lors du 1er, j'agissais un peu pareil : bourrin avec les humains ou en fuite, et très discret avec les infectés. Mais avec le temps j'ai diversifié ma manière de jouer en alternant les deux rendant le jeu bien plus fun et moins répétitif.
    par ailleurs, même si je suis fan d'action-RPG, TLOU 2 n'en est pas un, seulement le skill compte. Vous pourrez améliorer un peu votre barre de vie et améliorer légèrement vos armes, mais ça ne vous rendra pas vraiment plus fort.

    - les graphismes :
    pour un jeu PS4 c'est vraiment très beau. J'y joue sur une PS4 normale mais sur un écran 4k HDR qui a une IA pour simuler l'upscaling qui fait du très bon boulot sur ce jeu et vraiment y a des passages dans la forêt, ou autres environnement où la Nature a repris sont droit, qui sont vraiment magnifiques. Et connaissant bien l'aquarium de Seattle je peux vous dire qu'il est parfaitement reproduit :)

    - la bande son : c'est subtile, jamais dans l'abus, très agréable.

    Alors pourquoi je mets 17 et pas 20 :
    - je pense qu'il aurait fallu plusieurs fins possibles en fonction du ressenti du joueur, avec des choix scénaristiques à faire (même si je sais que ça complique énormément la manière de concevoir le jeu).

    - quelques **** bugs dont un qui m'a gonflé à un moment, Alice (ceux qui ont joué savent qui c'est) m'empêchait de sortir d'une caravane, impossible de la faire bouger ! :(

    - il manque la fameuse roulade avant de parade qu'on retrouve dans plein de jeux d'action, du coup dans certaines situations compliquées c'est difficile d'éviter les balles ou coups.. il faut fuir et se planquer ou attaquer en prenant volontairement des dégâts et espérer avoir suffisamment de vie.

    - l'IA des alliés quand on doit être discret... Pour ceux que ça énerve il y a une option qui permet de régler ça dans "accessibilité - accessibilités des combats - alliés impossibles à saisir".. une fonction qui dit que quand les alliés sont repérés et attrapés (et ils le sont facilement, en tous cas en mode Difficile) ils s'échappent d'eux-mêmes.

    Certain moments are beautiful and the game looks pristine. But unfortunately it feels too dated and the story suffers from bad writing. Naughty Dog should have kept the first game as the only one. This was unnecessary.    … Expand

    I have fully completed the game. Stayed away from all the trailers and leaks (FORTUNATELY!). This game is a must buy for all who loved the first one. The game play is fantastic. The sound and voice acting is top notch! The first few hours to me at least were a bit slow but after that it was great! 9/10!

    I'm 14 hours into the game and although the story is more "straight forward" than the first one, it's not bad as people are putting it at to be. It sure starts slows but after about the 8-10 hour mark it sure picks up pace. The graphics, audio and gameplay are stunning. Impossible to rate this game lower than a 8.

The main antagonist is a female, the main lead is female, the main cult bosses are all female. It's all female, not to mention Abby is like she hulk, her arms are absolutely massive. I don't mind female roles I mean horizon Zero Dawn and Tomb Raider, masterpieces and it showed they were bad ass without it being shoved down our throats. The story telling is very poor, it's very jumbled about. What made the last of us 1 a masterpiece was the interaction between an old man who lost his daughter and a girl who was the same age as her who was scared of being alone. They embark on a journey together and they become a father daughter figure with lots of twists and turns but they always stick together with there witty and funny and truthful ways making us have ups downs and emotions that we just don't see in this game. I couldn't have been more let down in this game from a story telling perspective. When Joel died Ellie has hardly any remorse, yeah she crys a little from time to time but does it truly change her ? She cares more about Dina being pregnant. I'm pretty sure if my father died from getting killed by a group leader happened in front of me I would be absolutely brutal with no remorse towards people. Yet in this Ellie feels bad at points, I mean why ? You embark on a journey with Ellie and Dina who I just couldn't care less for as I have no sentimental value towards Dina and they make love comments towards eachother all the time, even though Joel literally died like 10 hours ago which made me laugh not gonna lie. But it gets better, you play half the game as the main person who killed Joel which is so bizarre, I just don't care about her, why would I ? You killed the main person in the story why would I want to play as them for half the **** story. It's like me playing as robin for half the **** game instead of batman, I just don't care for it. Why you thought of this idea is beyond me. The way the story leads up to Joel and Tommy getting captured aswell is so funny, I mean you have a group that is near your base, and you willingly go back to there hideout like yeah sure okay. If that was the first game, Joel would be like woah woah hold on we don't know them, what are they doing so close to us for. In this one they seem like 2 gullible idiots wanting to get killed. It's just a completely different game, the world doesn't even seem the same in this one, you hardly see tommy, I mean I expected to see abit more of Tommy in this game but still, I don't know anything about him after 2 entire games. That's because he you wanted 2 female leads to be in there instead of it being Ellie and Tommy together getting revenge for Joel's death. Couldn't care for Dina, couldn't care for Jesse, and to be truly honest I hardly care about Elie in this game as she pissed me off aswell with her attitude being more towards loving Dina instead of truly destroying the tribe who killed her father in way. Very poor storytelling. Do not get politics and political views involved with video games EVER!!! Why did you do this ? The game could of had such big potential to be the pinnacle of this generation of games or even next gen of games but I suppose we will never know now. Thankyou Naughty Dog for getting involved in real political world views instead of just sticking to really good storytelling which is what you were all about.… Expand

    Overall, I would recommend this game if it was on sale at £15 or something but I imagine a lot of people who paid full price (like me) are going to be sorely disappointed.

Игра отличная, но за счёт манеры повествования пропала та целостность истории которая была в первой части. В игре очень много моментов повторяющих первую часть, к примеру сцена с космическим кораблём которая меня зацепила, но мысль о том, что она в точности повторяет сцену с игровым автоматом из оставшихся позади огорчает. И таких моментов много. И ещё мне показалось, что в оригинале второстепенные персонажи были гораздо более проработаны. Но а в общем игра супер. Картинка просто потрясающая, звук соответствует картинке, геймплей довёл до идеала идеи первой части, и сюжет в общем своё дело делает. Я пережил огромный спектр эмоций пройдя игру.… Expand

In this game there is blood and anger, broken bones and tears, people die brutally not "elegantly" doing heroic acts, like the most boring of the clichè. The story is super mature and yes, controversial, but only in a positive way. It's not for everyone, and if you can't appreciate this level of narrative, probably you should aim for something that is simpler.… Expand

    یک همجنسگرا، یک یهودی و کلیساهایی که امکان شلیک را قفل میکنند، تعداد بسیاری کاراکتر مونث، چند مرد احمق ، داستانی اتفاقی و پیام های دیگر که خواهید دید اما نه به اینجا بلکه فشار بیش از حد به کارمندان استدیو، ایجاد هیجان کاذب قبل از فروش، رفتن بزرگان استدیو و یک مشاور همجنسگرا برای پروژه
    تمام این مسائل باعث شد که من به دیده ناامیدی به اثر نگاه کنم.
    پیشنهاد میکنم بعد از تجربه یا عدم تجربه اثر داستان را بدون استفاده از ارایه های ادبی روی یک کاغذ بنویسید تا ارزشی چند از آن را قضاوت کنید.    … Expand

    ААААА, наверно убийство одного из ключевых персонажей самой игры в самом её начале для создания должной мотивации у главной героини и дальнейшего развития повествования?
    Определённо да! Ненавижу Naughty Dog.
    Больше чем уверен, что половина индивидов, понаставивших 0 даже не играли и 5 часов в эту игру, что уж говорить о полном прохождении.

    Graphics - 10/10
    This is easily the best looking game running on ps4 and it is a technical achievement for it to be running smoothly on a 7 years old console
    Music - 8/10
    This had some really great songs and osts but they decided to no use them during gameplay moments, would have loved to listen to them if implemented correctly like death stranding
    World Building - 9/10
    Always used to just stand and awe at the sceneries, this game has one of the best map design but also felt repetitive coming near to the end

    Its the same **** gameplay from the previous game, there is barely anything new added to make the gameplay feel any better. It felt good enough for the first game but they should have tried something new. Also the **** rope man, that **** is awesome and they didnt decide to use it much, they could have made such good puzzles from it, and what happened to the traps? they were there for the first few hours but they removed it completely from the game after it. Some of the set pieces were the highlight of the game but there were only few to keep me interested, just like marvel spiderman(ps4)

    Oh boy, the story is less than mediocre, the simple revenge is bad tactic applied all over in the game. If this game didnt have the last of us attached to it then it would have been an average game. The story didnt feel right with the last of us universe, all the time i didnt feel like i was playing a last of us game, joel died, that was a great shock point but they kept doing the same **** again and again, you meet a new person, you develop some connection and then they die too, halfway through the game i couldnt care about anyone since i knew the game is going to kill them anyways. and wtf the game used the pregnant card 2-3 times, why tf was mel even parkouring while being 7-8 months pregnant lmao, the whole story, it felt like a kid wrote it and they were too confident with it and decided to move on with it. The flashbacks were the only times i felt like yes this is part of the game but they **** it up too, they jumbled everything, they were ordered very poorly. People say the story was intentional, if it was, it was executed very poorly. There was no outcome of the story, everything got worse till the end and i only felt disappointed at the end, there could be **** millions of children, like abby, of the people joel/ellie killed, now will they make millions of sequels? Even if they dont, im not going to play the sequel anyways.

    overall the game makes you feel frustrated alot, upset from the beginning to the end.

    The Last of Us Part II is an amazing game. I understand why the tone might have turned off a lot of people, considering it came out during a dark and difficult year for most people, but I think in retrospect, it will be considered a classic. The game has some interesting and complicated characters and the writing feels natural and real. My only complaints are with some of the story beats,The Last of Us Part II is an amazing game. The ending wasn’t that bad and reading some of the reviews here you would think it was a Game of Thrones level atrocity, but it wasn’t. It was perfectly effective at conveying a feeling of bittersweet hope in a dire world and explores how we deal with grief and finding purpose in life.

    As for gameplay, I have absolutely no complaints. The shooting and melee combat feels great and the enemy encounters can be tense and rewarding. You can play it however you want – you can go in guns blazing, sneak around and lay traps while silently pick off each enemy, or just run away and avoid combat altogether. The pacing is great, going from exploration and solving environmental puzzles to enemy filled areas and then some action-packed sequences are sprinkled in, but I can see how the repetition of the formula can get old for some people. It’s the pretty standard Naughty Dog formula. The environments are beautiful (even when they are grotesque) and the level design is amazing. The world truly feels lived in and adds to the immersion. I’ve heard some complaints that it was too long, but I kind of disagree. It took me about 24 hours to beat, but I mostly gave up on stealth near the end. I also think the accessibility and difficulty options were fantastic and let me fine tune the difficulty when I was having a hard time.

    The story is also great in my opinion, but is seems to be very polarizing. Without spoiling anything, there are some characters you initially hate and may grow to love as you spend more time with them or you may find these character's stories uninteresting, like myself. On the surface, it seems like a simple revenge story, but it has more layers than that. It's about people living with the choices they've made, dealing with loss, finding purpose, and laying the past to rest. It’s a game that has stuck with me after finishing and I’m still thinking about it days later.    … Expand

    What a beautiful, harrowing game that improved upon nearly every facet of the first. All of the gameplay mechanics and technical specs of this game are a step above the prior installment. I absolutely will not ever get the hate boner the fanboys had for this game. While I didn't like some of the story's direction it's hard to argue that this game is not objectively better than the first.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I absolutely adored TLOU1. I wasn't sure that I wanted this story to be continued. The thing that made the ending of the previous game so perfect was the glaring lack of choices that the player is given: in the hands of another game developer, the player might have been given a binary decision about whether to save Ellie or to save the rest of the world. Instead, the player is forced down a path, to act against their better judgment, enacting Joel’s selfishness and continuing the global nightmare of fungal zombie apocalypse.

    Part II takes that design choice and expands on it. Throughout the majority of the game, the player must make the onscreen characters do things that the player themselves does not want to do. It is uncomfortable.

    This game is not light-hearted escapism. It’s heavy. It’s also a riveting piece of fiction. With TLOU2, NaughtyDog managed to pull off something remarkable: they continue this story in a way that feels like a natural consequence of the previous game's ending. The storytelling and dialogue of this complex, layered epic are unparalleled in the medium of video games. The onscreen performances are so real that you don't feel like you're watching animated characters on the screen, you feel like you're watching real people. You see their micro-expressions, see hope and despair in their eyes as they navigate the extraordinary circumstances in which they have been placed.

    Almost every character you meet is layered and complex. I say “almost every character” because there is one character, Jesse, who felt as though he didn't have enough screen time for me to understand his relationship with Ellie. Given how nuanced all the other characters are, this is a relatively minor complaint. Ellie is quieter, sadder, angrier this time around, and that feels righteous to me, given the deeply traumatic last several years of her life. Abby's character is impeccably drawn as well. At the beginning of the game I absolutely despised her. As I came to learn more about her motivations, I couldn't help but sympathize with her. As I got to see her relationship unfold with new characters Yara and Lev, I saw her genuinely caring for them, and I started to want a happy ending for her.

    I know that a lot of folks are upset that Joel died. What did you expect? He did terrible things in TLOU1. He lives in a brutal world in which people die unexpectedly all the time. His death is MEANT to be shocking and upsetting. That love that you feel towards him, sadness at his death, the anger at this new muscley Abby character is the perfect impetus for Ellie's revenge story. And the fact that he was killed by the daughter of the surgeon he murdered in cold blood at the end of the previous game felt, to me, both unexpected and inevitable. His past misdeeds were always going to catch up with him.

    The flashbacks peppered throughout the game add layers to Ellie, Joel, and Abby's characters and flesh out their motivations. The astronaut sequence in particular felt like a beautiful send-off for Joel and left me with a lump in my throat. These flashbacks provide the narrative some room to breathe in between its major chapters.

    And you will need room to breathe, because good lord this gameplay is INTENSE. Each encounter is a puzzle in which the player has to figure out how to get past all the enemies in front of them with exactly the inventory that you already have. You’re subjected to edge-of-your-seat, white-knuckle gameplay that alternately had me yelping with horror and grinning with sadistic pleasure when I executed an enemy. Moments later, I would feel guilt in my complicity with Ellie's acts of heinous violence as I heard the shrieks of dying enemies.

    It’s a bummer that the enemy AI is kind of dumb on the default difficulty setting because that hinders the game’s ability to shine as a stealth experience. I would definitely recommend playing on Hard difficulty to help the stealth elements of this game truly come to life.

    This game bleeds polish from every pore. The visuals are nothing short of astonishing, and Seattle is beautifully designed and realized. NaughtyDog cleverly placed significant story events within iconic buildings in real-life Seattle (the Seattle aquarium, the Ferris wheel) which lends a wonderful sense of geography to the narrative. I currently live in Seattle. It was uncanny to walk through a post-apocalyptic version of my city.

    The ending is sad, uncomfortable, bleak. As I reflected on that final conversation between Ellie and Joel, that line from The Dark Knight kept coming to mind: “You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become a villain.” This journey made me feel strong emotions for these characters. At the end of the day, I think that's exactly what good art is supposed to do: make me feel, not necessarily make me feel good. NaughtyDog made bold and risky choices here. Frankly that's something that I wish more developers would do.    … Expand

Just finished the game and thought I'd share my opinion, the score is just my thoughts on how much I enjoyed the game, CHARACTERS were okay however some choices were really bad, playin as Abby was really bad in my opinion. The STORY was fine but the ending made me feel bad to Ellie and the reason she left Abby live was really weird. VIsuals and Gameplay were amazing, the new improvements in the combat and stealth were top-notch. The reason for the score is cuz stories in videogames for me is really not that important as gameplay and graphics, so there you have it.

    Now the backlash from the fans were expected but people should try to be less biased when playin their games so their opinions stay honest, balance is good, give it a 0 or a 10 as long as you stay unbiased then it's fine, thanks for your time.    … Expand

    I will be honest, this is not what I am waiting whole year. I like this game so much, but, she is much tougher, and whole game builds on this. The scenes are incredibly beautiful. Graphics are simply indistinguishable from reality. There is nothing to say about it, because it is even better than what I expected. The soundtrack here is beautiful as well as in the first part. But, i don'tI will be honest, this is not what I am waiting whole year. I like this game so much, but, she is much tougher, and whole game builds on this. The scenes are incredibly beautiful.
