    This is a complicated game to review, with several ups and downs across almost every aspect. If you're a giant fan of Naughty Dog's bombastic roller coaster rides, you can probably add 2 points and make this a 9. If you're like me and prefer less guidance and shorter games, you might want to wait for a sale but aren't likely to regret playing this by any stretch of the imagination. The story is great and don't let someone who only played the first 5 hours turn you off the game, the murder of Joel really sets the tone of the game. The overall story is just about revenge and loss which fits the game and the world well, with the deaths of many characters really just happening out of nowhere showing the amount of loss and sadness in the game. by the way, I didn't get the game spoiled for myself and I'm not going to have a cry over the LGBT stuff.… Expand

    It is my opinion that no game is a 10. This is because I want every company to strive to always better everygame they make. I believe Naughty Dog has made a superior game in almost every facite to the first one. The graphics are the best of the generation. The story over halfway through the first playthrough has me as emotionally invested as any game I have every played. Maybe it helps that I didnt read anything about spoilers or other otherwise that were leaked. I don't think it would have made a difference.

    The game play is bestter than the first in nearly every way. I feel like the controls fit the type of game very well. Though that being said a few things I would have like to have seen improve is the infected. I enjoy everything but the evolution i expected in the infected doesn't really exist.

    I will play through this game at least twice is my guess. It truly is an amazing send-off to an amazing generation of video games. I feel bad for anyone who doesn't get to experience the games greatness.    … Expand

    This game is amazing. The story is touching but extremely sad. Great character development. I just finished it and am rating it 10/10 as it truly is a masterfully executed story telling piece of art. As for the so many 0 scores, I believe some people were upset by an event early on in the story, and others simply came to hate on it for featuring LGBTQ characters. И сериал с не самым лучшим сюжетов, и с одной единственной идеей - типа мол хватит уже мстить друг другу, а пора подставить другую щеку. Экшена не хватает, диалоги пусты - ну все как у среднебюджетного сериала. Сюжет по факту раскрывается к 80% прохождения игры и дальше уже не интересно, а по большей части противно.
    Про карты. То, что вещали некоторые обзорщики, что больше свободы и тд, по факту не правда - в игре всего 1н уровень, где можно пойти не коридорно. Все остальные - сюжетный путь и залезть забрать загадку, сейф, лут. Про красоту уровней и левел дизайн. Такое чувство что игру начали делать сразу же после 1й части - большинство локаций достаточно скучны. Несколько левелов в начале и эпилог отличаются хорошей картинкой. Все остальное даже не на уровне Анча 4.
    Про персонажей. Все первоплановые персонажи не красивые - Элли, Джоил, Эбби. Эбби — это отдельный случай. Я не думаю, что в постапокале можно найти себе стероиды и жевать их на постоянной основе в течении 4х лет. И то я думаю, что барышни, которые таким занимаются скажут, что за 4 года такого не добиться нельзя. Сцена секса с ней - это вовсе фу. Гей софт порно. Как те же Склепы разрешили эту игру у себя? Непонятно. Элли реально вырастили некрасивой - хотя во всех флешбэках у нее была более-менее терпимая внешность. Джойла состарили так, как будто чувак просидел в Бастилии все эти годы, а не прожил в городе с относительным достатком. Второплановые, все представители меньшинств - красивые и харизматичные, что на фоне основных персонажей - удивляет. Самый красивый персонаж из всех – Дина. Особенное слово про ребенка. Азиатский мулат с арабско- еврейскими корнями – просто отдельная ода толерантности)
    Как можно рисовать таких уродливых женщин, при большинстве муржской аудитории у игр? Тут уже реально вопрос к разработчикам, что они действительно не хотят денег.
    Я надеюсь, вскоре продам этот треш. И надеюсь, у меня его заберут, хоть и с хорошей скидкой…    … Expand

    I had trouble telling people what my favorite game of all time was until I played the Last of Us 2. This game is an absolute masterpiece. Definitely worth playing.

    The Good The gameplay is phenomenal. its buttery smooth and ellie/abby controls beautifully. There are no problems when playing as either character.     The Good
    The gameplay is phenomenal. its buttery smooth and ellie/abby controls beautifully. There are no problems when playing as either character. The graphics are amazing, visually its the peak of gaming with Ghost of Tsushima rivaling it. the game as it plays is great and what ive come to expect from a naughty dog title. The enemies were clever and it was very fun from a gameplay perspective. The music and audio design was top notch everything i did fit and fit way too well.

    The bad
    The story was just bad. It was so bad i almost quit playing the game 3 separate times. I literally went to the home screen. Abbys whole story was ultimately pointless because she brought it upon herself. We are supposed to feel bad for herbut i did not. The relationships this time were not nearly as good as the original. The cast jumped in and out too much to care for them. Switching between abby and ellie was jarring and jumping between the two was just disorienting. I wish they just had 2 separate stories one for ellie and one for abby. I think killing joel was just the wrong route to go. There were so many out of place scenes as well like A FULL ON GOD DAMN SEX SCENE between abby and owen which was thrown in there for no reason. The story was a full on mess and ellie's actions were so bizarre and out of place. The best parts of the game were the flashbacks and that's because the interactions were amazing because joel and ellie have great chemistry and bounce off each other so well. Lev was just a worse ellie i liked him but he was literally just there to try and humanize abby who acts like a monster.

    The model for abby looks really bizarre and off. Most women dont look like that unless they are body builders and even then body builders are on special diets to maintain their look and abby looks like she tried to take steroids and male hormones and stopped taking halfway. her young design is good and looks like a real person. her older design looks like somebody's fanfic character in this game also burritos would definitely not make you look that way. even real soldiers do not look like that. It felt like they finished ellies section but thought the game was too short and decided to create a whole scenario for abby the antagonist. literally lev is ellie just as a boy. they literally took joel from the first game and made abbie a clone of him. Also those stats and gains you made from the story are gone when you first get to abby modern day. so 15 hours in they expect you to start from scratch. It made me consider quitting the game. Also really shes punching zombies come on thats just dumb.

    The ending was also just not fun. It literally felt like they put it there so they could try and show abby is redeemed. Ellie enters an armed compound with tons of people just to fist fight abby who is being held prisoner and being tortured by the people in the compound and its dumb. The whole story is terrible. not only that the character relationships were all over the place and i could attached to any of the characters. They had too many characters and really the only ones i remember well were dina and ellie and owen and abby which both were poorly done and i did not care for. Overall the story is bad and boring and for a story driven game thats half the fun.

    Overall this game is a game that is good gameplay wise but abysmally bad in its storytelling. If you are looking for a story driven game. I would just play the first one because its perfect and did not need a sequel especially one this bad storywise. Its a very good game, gameplay wise but gameplay for a story driven game is only half of the game. story is also important and it flops on that.

    Its not a 1/10 no the game is very playable and smooth but it screwed up the story so bad i can't go higher than 5/10. That's what i give this game its a game that plays amazingly but the story needed a complete rewrite its that bad.    … Expand

    After playing each chapter of TLOU2 the only thing I can say is worthy successor to the first game. that beyond a great combination that achieve the most amazing graphics that you will see on this generation and beyond... Great And a new incredible soundtrack composed by Santaolla and an agile, exciting game mode and at the same time terrifying, which allows you to adapt the difficulty soAfter playing each chapter of TLOU2 the only thing I can say is worthy successor to the first game. that beyond a great combination that achieve the most amazing graphics that you will see on this generation and beyond...     Boring as hell! The game play is generic. And the history, well, is the worst thing in the game. Abby characters is awful and uninteresting. And the dialogues between ellie and dina are a joke. Its looks like a teenage highschool love history and they suppose will take revenge for joel??? horrible...

    Second character will be main enemy in the eyes of the Ellie and in other characters, and you will play as her in more or less half of the game.Characters are really well done written,but sometimes when somebody dies you dont feel it so emotional (in 2 cases).Game will explain to you that nobody is white knight,and every body have a reason why they done some bad things.

    Overall game is brutal and its trying to emotional break you.Sometimes game will order you to do some things which you really dont want to do (like killing someone),and sometimes characters will chose path you dont really want,BUT IT DOESNT MEAN THAT IS BAD WRITTEN .In the end you will find out that revenge cant be controlled,and it can destroy you.
    This game is unique,and i respect every decision what Naughty Dog has made.

    If you can handle emotional breaking story ,and play a game witch have better story than Holliwood films then i can for 100% recommend, this masterpiece.

    Shortly about different things:

    Graphics and design 10/10 :
    Naughty Dog always made best looking games and its applied it on Tlou 2 too.This include face expression where is every detail there,and when it comes to some brutal things like in fighting but mainly on cutscenes,you will be shocked how detailed that is (for someone this might be too much).
    Ambiance of the game is so stunning and sometimes you will stop and only look on incredible work.

    Soundtrack 10//10:
    Soundtrack like in first one is indescribable.I must thank Gustavo Santaolalla for one of the best soundtracks ever (including in Part one).

    Sound design 10/10
    There is not much to tell,its so much detailed and made well.

    AI: 9,5/10
    Its scales in difficulty, but its stunning.You feel that every enemy have life and much less that he is some obstacle in game.Every enemy have name, and if they friends find him dead they,shout to him by his name, and act differently compered to different games.They will search for you every where and they will talk/helping to each other to find you.They are adding 2 group types of human enemies which one is stealthy and another is full of military arsenal including trained dogs.When it comes to mutated creatures (zombies),they are same ,only change is that they are adding some creatures including one which will be fight boss.

    Why to change something what is so good.Its same as first one ,but it have some changes like jump,crawl and dodge.Using guns and tools are great and every weapon or tool is unique and usable

    The game is fantastic. The storyline is deep where you can't tell if you're doing a good thing or not. Plenty of collectables and fun things to read in the world. Honestly, its probably the best game to come out this year. Don't let trolls persuade you otherwise. This game is top notch. and I highly recommend it for its fantastic story telling. Play this game, you'll love it.

    This game is absolutely essential. It took everything the first game did so well and made it even better. Dynamic levels, beautiful scenery, environmental storytelling, rewarding exploration, flawless voice acting, brutal combat, logical stealth—this game has it all and more. There are many paths through each level, accommodating multiple different play styles. The gameplay of TLOU2 far exceeds the first one.
    What about the story? This is a revenge story first and foremost, but it does it in an interesting and not as cliche as you might think way. I won’t go into detail, but with the believable and well written characters, the story in this one is just as good as the first one.
    Let’s talk about the elephant in the room. Yes, this game features a prominent lesbian couple. Yes, you play as a young female who is either gay or bi (not made clear as of 12 hours into the story). However, this relationship feels organic and real, it feels like a relationship between two young women struggling to survive in a brutal world. If you have issues with seeing two young women engage in a romantic relationship, then this is an issue within yourself and not within the game. I also want to address the notion of “forced diversity” in this game. I just don’t get it. America is not made up of just straight white men and women. The majority of this game takes place in Seattle, in which it makes sense to find large populations of non-white people. It makes sense to see reasonable amounts of non-straight people. So far in the game the only gay people I’ve seen are the main couple (Ellie and Dina) and a random guard talking about her girlfriend. This game has no social agenda that it’s trying to shove down your face - it’s simply creating an immersive and realistic world space. If you don’t like that then again, the problem is with you and not the game.
    Overall, this game is the most immersive, beautiful, and captivating game I’ve ever played. There’s a reason why the critics say 95/100, I implore you to experience this masterpiece for yourself.    … Expand

Flaming with controversy, behind the scenes of the project, and how the critics and fanbase are heavily divided against each other. As a fan of The Last of Us (2013), it pains me to say that this was not a good sequel to such a beloved masterpiece.

    I love the first game because of its narrative and characters, the worldbuilding, the meanings of the story and characters, how it is a rollercoaster of emotions. Sadly, I didn't feel anything for The Last of Us Part II but only hate...which is what it was going for but handled very poorly. While looking at the game, I didn't get a story, I got a game preaching to me about something I already know but how terrible it was used.

    As much as I despise this game, I can see why people love the game for what it is and its message it sends. My issue with that is that they can't understand why many people hate this game and are willing to defend it without knowing its noticeable flaws of story and characters. It is obvious that they ignored the problems and just mindlessly go along with the story, which is manipulating players thinking what they are doing is wrong . I don't expect the game to be perfect as the first game and not use too many of realistic logics like real life, but i also expected to actually make some sense out of it since this is suppose to be "gritty, dark, brutal, and realistic" game about revenge, when all we got was a dull romance, people wanting to kill each other instead of actually surviving, a little SJW representation, dull characters, and a very anticlimactic ending.

    This game tries so hard to be miserable, it fails to make the game's story work. If I want to play a dark miserable game about a character who thinks they're the hero of the story and think what they're doing is right when really they're a villain causes not by character but player's choices, I'll play Spec Ops: The Line. If I wanted learn that revenge is bad and has consequences, I would play either the God of War series or Red Dead Redemption series. That's all I have to say about The Last of Us Part II.

    I won't agree with you liking the game, but I can understand why you do. Even though this is isn't all I wanted to say because I still have stuff to say about this game, I hope you can kinda understand why I don't like the game as much as you do.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Can't choose 9.7 out of 10. I just had some verrry minor complaints with how the ncps handled cover at times but other than that. This game was heart pounding fun. Each battle was so intense and also fear. It was like playing Doom Eternal on nightmare but with a dash of resident evil horror to get your palms sweaty. Gameplay is exactly what you'd expect from playing the first one, just more options now and more refined. Animations are on point. Graphics are a masterclass and put shame to PC master race people. Story was awesome. Not sure what people are hating this for so much, but it seems to be "trendy" to do it. I just played the Last of Us part 1 just before this as well, this game does an amazing job of connecting the first game and second game. It creates a much bigger world of his crazy last of us. Can't wait for if they have a part 3!… Expand

    I think the game is fun but the story is a dissaster... The game could have been the best of the generation but I think God Of War or Breath Of The Wild are way better than this... not the best sequel of the first one, a true masterpiece

    I come from the original game, I come from replaying it multiple times. And WOW. I'm impressed. First things first....... the emotion captured during playing this is unreal. I am a 220lb, 6'2" guy, and I teared up few times. The emotion is real, the loss felt is real. During playing, you become emotionally invested in the game. Secondly. Go buy it, play it, you'll love it!

    Amo el primer juego y amo esta segunda parte, bien es cierto que hay momentos un tanto tediosos, pero consigue enganchar y mantenerte en tensión. No juzguéis y disfrutarlo. La historia pese a lo que sucede es muy buena, y quien diga lo contrario es solo por rabia.

    The graphics are breathtaking and the gameplay has improved quite a bit compared to the first one.
    I can understand how people get mad about the story, but this is THE LAST OF US. What did you expect, a fun little adventure?

    The last of us part 2 is a beautiful game and the game play well too. If you never played the first one or watched a playthrough you may enjoy this game immensely and there's the problem. Story wise for returning players is a total disappointment. Played the first one but this one doesn't feel like a sequel. It's like the first one is devil may cry and part 2 is dmc.

    My review: The Good; Bad and the Ugly...

    The good - you can tell immediately that the characters are more agile. The graphics are amazing and the controls are very responsive: almost perfect. The people who built this game did a fantastic job in every way. You will not be disappointed by the games technical game play.

    The bad - you are constantly reminded you are on a linear track and unable to jump over a two foot bush to get to a location just after climbing up and infiltrating a military installation.

    While I have only begun this story, the emphasis seems mainly on human vs. human as was with the first version. So far, the infected creatures and their traits do not seem to be as daunting or scary as in the first game. So, for people who have not played the first game, you really should consider this masterpiece.

    The ugly - have you ever been out with two other friends and because they romantically like each other, you feel like the third wheel? Or, have you ever been out with two friends and one of the friends likes you but the other friend is trying too hard because they either like you or the other person and are getting in the way of just having fun?

    Unlike any other video game I can recall, there is so much emphasis and attention spent on the relationship between the main character and their partner that it interferes with the game play. It is so bad that at times when I need to be focused on being stealthy and hiding behind things, I cannot because the partner is interfering with my movements and affecting the outcome of hostile encounters.

    With a winning story and excellent programming, this title was destroyed by someone in the marketing department who wanted to plant a flag: reflected in the negative reviews out there in the public.

    Bottom line: Wait and buy this game second hand because there will be many copies available. In fact, I will be happy to sell you my copy. lol. I am just kidding.

    Most of all, we are all socially distancing now and looking for things to do: Playing this game is not one of those things unless you are getting paid to play it.

    However i just don't like playing these characters. I'm bored and i don't think the game is rubbing me the right way. Maybe too life like? I dunno. I'm 12 hours in and i'll likely stop there.... on account of me not feeling like my moneys worth - 4.
    Sure do appreciate the hard work of the developers though.

It feels like people just want to forget what Joel did at the end of the first game...of course I...like many of you gladly did it...i loved Ellie just as much as him and I willingly killed all of those people...but after it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Its was incredibly selfish, disgusting, evil...yet we love him. It also seems like people are just deciding to forget how much Joel changed throughout the first game...he goes from a man paranoid of everyone and everything and rightfully so to a gentler man by the end and its because of his new connection with ellie. She teaches him to open up. To love again and by living in Jackson for 4+ years I imagine he's become even more laid back as yoh can tell that Tommy and the rest of the town of Jackson are welcoming to strangers so id assume Joel has become that way as well. I keep thinking of God of War when it comes to this point im trying to make. Aureus teaches Kratos how to love and that he can be better than the other gods. That he can do good and be good. Ellie had the same effect on Joel. I dont want to go much further in it so ill say my pros and cons quickly, say my peace about the overarching plot and get out of here.

    Pros are obviously graphics, voiceacting, character animations, environments, set pieces and combat. I've already said I liked the story so its not in the list. I want to talk about combat quickly. I loved the brutal and simplistic combat of the first game and this game follows suit with some simple but great improvements. The dodge button is awesome to put it simply haha if you're like me and enjoy playing in a very realistic E3 demo kinda of style then the dodge button during brutal combat is awesome, llan and simple. Also the ability to go completely prone is a welcomed addition. That all being said i just kinda hate the encounters with infected. I didn't really like them in the first game and I don't really like it still. But thats just me. Doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the game. Okay lastly I understand people not enjoy the game but it definitely wasn't created for you to have fun. The first game was about love and this one was about hate so it definitely had a different tone and to me thats ok. This was a hard game to get through just like reading Blood Meridian is hard to do. Its depressing and violent and full of characters doing terrible things but just like Blood Meridian the final product is well worth it. The ending had me speechless just like the first game. It had me feeling so heartbroken for Ellie. So sad for what she went through and what she's cursed to live with the rest of her life. But she accepts joels death and forgets about revenge and it seems to me she is going to make joel happy by finally living and being happy and trying to move past all the trauma and death she's experienced. Although I didn't completely enjoy playing as Abby I loved what it added to the story and it wouldnt have worked without her side of things. Though I do think it dragged on far to long. The first game flew by but in a good way. This game feels like it could've been 4-5 hours shorter. I bought the game to play as ellie. Dont make me play as another character for 8 hours straight. They could've cut down abbys storyline to 4-5 hours. Definitely took a point off of the score for me, but thats my only complaint. I think the game is a near masterpiece. I wouldve probably given it a 9.5 if I could. Its as great as the first but with a completely different tone.    … Expand

The reason people hate Abby because they never put themselves in her shoes and felt what she felt. Abby didn't knew the Joel we did and he did kill her father. We all loved Joel and never wanted to see him dead, but training and getting stronger for 4 years, Abby sought revenge against the killer of her father. Satisfied and feel accomplished? I dunno, maybe. Also there were so many similarities with Ellie and Abby. They both still had problems of their own. The complicated relationships. Ex-BF Owen, who was going to have a child with Mel, that complicated things and same thing with Ellie, Jessie and Nora. They both had someone they looked up to die (Joel and Jerry (Abby's father)). They had their second loved one died but was kinda dismissive (Jessie and Owen).

    If any one of you in Abby's shoes, you too would hunt the killer of your parents. Also when Abby said good cutting Nora's throat, she said that because she thought Ellie killed Mel, who had a baby intentionally. But life as always plays, put Abby in a worse position when she and Lev had to starve for month and go weak.

    When Ellie cut Abby down from a pole, seeing her so weak, that fear in her eyes, made me feel so so sad for her. I did feel empathy. I genuinely did.

    However, since we started this journey with Joel and Ellie, I did not feel sympathy towards Abby and actually wanted her dead, until I saw her weak and in fear.

    We all been there, the moment when Ellie holding the boat and sees a flashback of an image that casts a wrath up us and we do something really stupid, and that's what Ellie did and got her fingers bitten off by Abby.

    Question stands: Where do we go from here? Abby will join the fireflies and will be scarred for life with Lev. Ellie will also be scarred for life and will go back and live in Jackson.

    It was a good story, not perfect but good. I honestly felt the game was Game of thonesefied. . . ohh well, not everything we want is handed to us in perfect condition....    … Expand

I didn't enjoy some parts of the story. For example, when I started to play as Abby I found it hard to care about her but in the end, my opinion shifted just slightly. The long epilogue chapter was a great touch.
    About the gameplay, it took all the parts from the first game and improved them, and visually this is one of the most gorgeous games I have ever played. Very often I found myself just admiring the world around me. Lastly, I need to mention the music... absolutely superb.

    Story is awful and awkward, do not want to throw spoilers but believe me, story doesn't make any sense regarding the characters we know from TLOU in the events that unfolds here, also new characters are just swallow except by the antagonist (villain?), Abby, but man, you won't like this character, not because she has such muscles or she is vile, nope, you won't like her because her story in TLOU 2 is just absurd as it unfolds, at beginning make some sense, but then it's just inconsistent, same goes for Ellie.
    Game at first glance is shocking but as it unwinds some things becomes obvious and other plains simple doesn't make any sense. Abby character is affected by a kind of what I call Kylo Ren syndrome, SW fans will get it.

    Gameplay mechanics and Art is 10.
    Story is barely a 3.
    Screwing TLOU saga in the second part (Who knows?), 0.
    I'm not averaging here, overall for me is 6. You must play it if you like TLOU but most probably you will get disappointed after the end and not wanting a third part, for me TLOU ended in the first game.

    WTF moment bonus spoiler plus: Really Ellie, Dina and JJ enjoying a beautiful, charmful and peaceful life in a farm that seems extracted straight from "Little House on the Prairie", in middle of a brutal and ruthless post apocalyptic pandemic no man's world?     One of the best game of this gen! It's another win for Sony. Congratz ND for making yet another masterpiece for Playstation.

    What can I say ... I took the time to finish the game in almost forty hours, I am a nosy type, and I gave myself the time to give my opinion without too much hype, so my verdict:

    I start with the negative: - Unfortunately the soundtrack which is almost not present, one of the highlights of the 1st opus was the OST, except that there, rare the occasions where it made an impact on me.    What can I say ... I took the time to finish the game in almost forty hours, I am a nosy type, and I gave myself the time to give my opinion without too much hype, so my verdict:

    - The second point is that at the time I felt a little deja vu and repetitivity.
    -The AI ​​level always remains so, enemies humans or monsters are predictable.

    The positive:
    - Script and story, that's what I expect from a narrative game, bringing realism and getting out of the predictable, i mean the world We know is not the same for those people, it's a jungle law, every single one of them been trough a lot to SURVIVE, and that's why some actions seem almost natural for them, I salute the staff for the audacity, If they think of a sequel, I wish them good luck ..
    - The characters are great, I got attached to them(el hombre: Manny is too cool)
    - Graphics, nothing breathtaking. but it's good.

    Do NOT pay any attention to the user score for this game. This is a 25-30 hour game and people are leaving reviews a few hours after it came out, obviously just review bombing even though they haven’t played the game. The critic score speaks for itself, since critics have to actually.. play the game to talk about it. An insane concept, I know.

    The game is incredible. animations, character models and battle dynamics are flawless..The dynamics of war are so realistic that sometimes it can disturb, it feels great that a game is so realistic.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
