    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So first of all, Graphics/Audio/Atmosphere are on Top and I don't expect anything less from Naughty Dog as they showed that in Uncharted aswell as in the Last of Us Part 1

    What I don't understand is, how can such a renown Game Developer like Naughty Dog, that made Hits like an Uncharted mess up so badly.

    I personally liked the Game and how the Story started, Joels Death was tragic and horrifying and touched me deeply, and of course we want to see Justice for him. But you don't do that by killing the Majority of the People responsible for his Death and then let you play the Killer herself. IT MAKES NO SENSE.

    The Moment I got to play Abby I just wanted to find a Way to kill her and go back to Ellie, this is how much I hated her.

    I understand that Joel killed her Father and that Naughty Dog wanted to show the Reason why Abby killed Joel and make us feel with her. But please make her the Main Antagonist of the Game in the First Place and not a freaking Protagonist that you have to carry through the Story. The Deaths of her Friends (Manny, Owen, Nora, Mel, etc.) didn't touch me at all, I felt satisfied even after we got to know them a bit better. I couldn't empathize with at any point o the game. Especially after her killing one of the most beloved Characters in Game History.

    At the End of the Day its a Revenge Story, which is fine in itself, but why would you have to play the Revenge Story of 2 Characters at the same Time.

    Im disappointed, and sad, I waited so long for this game, and got so excited with all the Fan Theories, around Abby originally in the Trailer aswell as the Cult.    … Expand

This game is phenomenal, firstly the gameplay is a big step up from the original that builds on the systems in the first game and improves in them in every single way. The graphical fidelity is mind blowing, I genuinely can’t believe this is running on a PS4, it is very obvious that a lot of love and care has gone in to this game and it shows in the level of detail through the levels in the game. The amount minuscule details that have callbacks to events in the games universe or give further depth to a character is mind blowing. The level design also feels more natural and less linear than the first game, with many levels having a maze of buildings to get through to get to the other side.

    The storyline is brilliant in the way it gives even more meaning to elements of the first game whilst telling its own story. I’ve never experienced a game that challenges the main characters choices and morality so strongly and make you question their motives and then go on to make you play as a character that you currently hate and takes you on a journey to understand and empathise with them. I believe this was the intention of the game, if you get angry at certain moments and cry at others, the writers and actors have done their job and I sincerely believe this game is a masterpiece in story telling, acting, game design, art style and graphical fidelity.    … Expand

    La historia del juego me hizo experimentar un torbellino de emociones, algo que también pude experimentar con red dead redemption 2 y god of war, por lo que no me decepcionó.     The Last of Us Part II is not a bad game by any means, I experienced a lot of different emotions playing through the different chapters and encountering different characters. It is a very difficult task to live up to the lofty standards that the first Last of Us set. Whilst the sequel is a very solid game, it has multiple flaws that don't make it that Game of the Year / Greatest Game ofThe Last of Us Part II is not a bad game by any means, I experienced a lot of different emotions playing through the different chapters and encountering different characters. It is a very difficult task to live up to the lofty standards that the first Last of Us set. Whilst the sequel is a very solid game, it has multiple flaws that don't make it that Game of the Year / Greatest Game of all time contender.

    For the positives, the graphics for this game are beautiful. They are up there with Red Dead Redemption 2 for the best graphics that I have seen in a video game. Another positive for me was Abby. I felt like Abby's story progressed a lot further than Ellies and I felt like I could understand her motives for what she did.

    My main gripe with the game is Ellie herself, I felt that she took a step back from what made her so great in the first game. She lost her sense of humour, and was reduced to a bitter former shell of herself. I didn't enjoy her sections as much and her dialogue was rather dry and boring. If it wasn't for Dina keeping some element of humour in the levels, it could have been worse.

    My other issue is the clunky combat. I have never really been a fan of Naughty Dog's combat system. The combat feels clustered and tedious. The enemy AI is also ridiculously funny as they can't even see me from directly in front of them.

    Last of Us Part 2 is a good game and it definitely has some strong elements that keep it engaging. But my dislike for Ellie in this game and the clunky combat keep me from giving this game a higher score. It is a good game but definitely not game of the year, FF7 Remake, Doom Eternal, and Animal Crossing all rate higher for me.    … Expand

    Played 16 hours so far and it has been a bliss. I never felt a game so much. You feel like you are really there. It's such a tiresome on-edge game that really gets to you. This is by far the most mature gamed I have ever played. It's realism really gets on your nerves. The scarcity of everything and how each bullet counts really put a toll on my heart.the feeling you get when you justPlayed 16 hours so far and it has been a bliss. I never felt a game so much. You feel like you are really there. It's such a tiresome on-edge game that really gets to you. This is by far the most mature gamed I have ever played. It's realism really gets on your nerves. The scarcity of everything and how each bullet counts really put a toll on my heart.the feeling you get when you just wasted your last molotov and you shoot with your gun and miss and find out that it only had one bullet on it, then you decide to sprint to you your enemy who won't stop shooting you untill he reloads and then you smack the square button like you are really fighting for your life. I can't tell you how much this game gets on my nerves and still can't wait to open it the next day and see where the story goes definitely am experience you will want to try… Expand

    21 de Junio, al fín me pasé el juego despues de 3 dias de puro vicio. Lo único que diré es que el juego tiene un propósito desde el principio, la venganza, y te lo van contando desde los puntos de vista de los personajes jugables (no spoiler). El juego es perfecto en los apartados sonoros, gráfico y jugable, pero aqui llegamos al apartado de la narratica, acepto que no sea un juego de 10,21 de Junio, al fín me pasé el juego despues de 3 dias de puro vicio. Lo único que diré es que el juego tiene un propósito desde el principio, la venganza, y te lo van contando desde los puntos de vista de los personajes jugables (no spoiler). El juego es perfecto en los apartados sonoros, gráfico y jugable, pero aqui llegamos al apartado de la narratica, acepto que no sea un juego de 10, ni de 9, ¿pero ponerle un 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 o un 5? La historia es buena durante todo el juego, obviamente no al nivel del primero, pero es BUENA. Me hubiese gustado que la hayan contado de otra manera, con otro final, etc, pero no es malo, es una conclusión que para mi, esta dentro de historias "buenas".

    This game is pretty good, like it. For me, TLOUP2 is better than Uncharted 4, gameplay part is better than in original game, the story have problems, but it still good for me. Great job Naughty Dog.

    Here is what i think:
    I Think that the game is about Joel & Ellie , but for most of the game it's about joel, so why do you kill the main guy ?
    1. shock effect ? really ? apocalyptic/zombie movies did it 1000 times already
    2. they made Joel look "idiotic" by going to strangers and telling them his name ....
    That is a disrespect to the intelect of Joel, the guy was in a cruel world for a long time to know how to survive.He has the instinct of survival.
    3. To think that someone would prefer to sacrifice their daughter to save humanity ,should not be a father.
    so that on itself should not be an argument because why the **** would Ellie want to die.
    Like WTF ,she was Angry on joel for saving her life and lying just to make her feel better ?
    4. About Dina i feel like we don't really get allot of time to be "connected" to her, we don't see enough cutscenes with both Ellie and Dina.
    and yea sure i am your girlfriend , i will join you on a deadly revenge journey for no reason.

    5. Dina is pregnant ??how? WHEN? why? unnecessary thing to add to story...just a reason to put dina aside and let ellie go all alone...

    Everybody are at risk. That is why the game took a path no one likes and not allot of games or movies do it.
    By the way i should also say that the game is not very good for your health , you get depression , anxiety .
    That can cause allot of heart problems , mental problems and shock.

    I am really disappointed..... disappointed in people who write bad reviews even when they don't have either ps4 or game. I don't really know about the English-speaking community, but I have heard enough about the Russian community and want to say: PLEASE, DON"T LISTEN TO ANYONE AND BUY THIS GAME! Вы не захотите чтобы ваш сын учился жизни по TLOU2, искренне начав верить что женщина может командовать мужчиной.
    По итогу у нас 7 из 10 - спасибо за нелегкий труд программистов и художников. Вся эта история с оценками - хороший урок для Sony, надеюсь впредь они приставят к Дракману специальных людей, которые будут контролировать процесс его работы.    … Expand

This time Naughty Dog dwells even deeper in human nature, proving us that the worst danger in a post-apocalyptic world are humans themselves. Actions have consequences, and when facing with incredible scenarios, humans are capable of anything. Unlike its predecessor, the tone is so much darker, which is a pro and a cons at the same time. Some people might find the passing or the script to be too thick to their taste and that's a valid complain. For others, like me, it shows a different side of the characters. Nothing is never black and white, and this game proves that.… Expand

    TLOU2 after 11 hours spent in the game = don't be distracted by the evaluation of people who behave like a small child when something is not according to him. TLOU2 is an absolutely great game. He pulls in and doesn't let go. 11 hours in 2 days. I am 40 years old. The game is absolutely amazing.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'll get the negatives out of the way. The game was repetitive. You find yourself surrounded by infected and you die. You try again. You die. The game dumbs down the AI and you win. You move on. Then you find yourself in the same situation. Rinse, repeat, rinse repeat. It got pretty boring.

    The game really tries to force you to make quick bonds with the new characters. And I didn't just click with them. I didn't like Dina, I found her annoying and didn't really care for her. Jesse though. He was amazing. Really wished he stayed around for the possible trilogy they were hinting at the end (I'll talk about that in a bit).

    Some aspects of the story had feelings of cut-and-paste from a fanfiction post. Like... It felt a 13 year old was trying to imitate 50 Shades. And THAT scene... Very unnecessary and didn't understand why they felt it had to be included.

    But now for the good stuff:

    I liked how very unsafe all the characters were. Everyone was at risk of being axed from the game. Why is everyone surprised that Joel died? I was totally expecting it to happen. Joel can't be around for very long in the game. It makes some sense to me.

    The graphics were obviously amazingly beautiful. It's Naughty Dog. They're good in that department.

    Some of the puzzles were a bit confusing but I liked how much detail they put even into rooms that were hardly involved with the story.

    I really liked the idea of playing Abby. Seeing everything from her perspective was very eye-opening. Beforehand you were rooting for Ellie and hoped she got her revenge. But then ND forces you into Abby's shoes and to experience her side of that fateful day in the hospital. And her side of events in Seattle. I was like damn. I don't know who to side with. And I know Naughty Dog were aiming for that angle. I think they did that perfectly for me anyway.

    The game left you wanting more. When you stopped to play so you can grab some dinner or run errands, LoU2 was the one thing constantly on my mind. I had to play it whenever I could. Sometimes for hours well into the night.

    The ending, however, made no sense whatsoever. I mean... Why did Ellie and Dina decide to live in a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere? And why did Ellie spare Abby when she wanted her dead? Tried drowning her and then goes nah mate just go. So many plotholes that I'm sure were intently put there so we're screaming for The Last of Us Part 3.

    I agree with a friend of mine who sai that Naughty Dog wrote it how they wanted it and they weren't afraid to really push buttons with the story. They didn't mind killing off main characters and shoving new ones in. They unapologetically made the game their way, no matter how unpopular it may have been.

    The game wasn't so bad that it deserves a review bomb on Metacritic but it wasn't great either. It was an okay game. I'm glad I played it and waited when I did.    … Expand

Weaving multiply characters paths over the span of days. Combat is the best Naughty Dog has ever done. The only real problem to me is the length, game is to long.     The fact that this game is getting review-bombed so hard makes literally 0 sense to me. Are there really THIS MANY people butt-hurt about the leaks? Is it the gay stuff? Regardless, this game is a masterpiece. Normally I would rate this at about a solid 9 but with all the ignorant incels bombing it I've gotta give it a 10.

    Storytelling is next level.
    Graphics: top - especially for this (7 years) old console

    Gameplay: one of the best - the AI has improved a lot and I have not seen this mechanics in any other game

    I've play the game for 12 hours so far and it is fantastic, game play is much the same from the first game and story so far is gripping! I love the last of us games!

As the the non linear story tries to explain the motives of why torture and the brutal senseless violence is common within the human communities , the usual suspect seems again the source of evil . They will force you to change characters every know and then and not only that there are too many flashbacks that get old really fast. The gameplay is fun during the first half of the game but gameplay also gets old, you will be doing the same thing over and over and over again and this is: enter a new area press R1 to see who’s in there sneak behind them press square and then stealth kill them (with the same animation every single time), that is the gameplay don’t let them fool you with the trailers they have been releasing where every action looks so fluid and dynamic.
    Having said that, the game environments, characters and the animations (facial expressions interactions) look absolutely amazing, truly amazing. Certain scenes really can touch you and make you emotional but as we said as the game progresses the intensity of the story dilutes and between this and the repetitiveness of the gameplay is why you will eventually drop the controller.    … Expand

    Although ND is still a industry leader with TLOU2 graphic wise, they have sold their soul to the story devil. I couldn't believe that what started out in TLOU with great storytelling, devolved into a stupid revenge tale. Highly disappointed with what was released. This is definately a step in the wrong direction and a do not buy till highly discounted for maybe 10 bucks.

    Great game unless you're an SJW that gets triggered by anything that goes against your specific political beliefs. On a technical and story telling level, this is a great game. Not perfect, there are aspects story wise that could have been better, but it wasn't terrible or trash. Motivations made sense for the characters, Game play was great. Visually perfect.

Если вы обращаете внимание на глупые придирки к небольшим вкрапления ЛГБТ, которые будем честны, были нужные разработчикам, дабы угодить меньшинствам и не получить неоправданного хейта с их стороны. Я высказал свое мнение, кто-то может быть согласен, кто-то нет, но это моя позиция и я считаю именно так.     Excellent game in pretty much every facet, especially visually and gameplay wise. The story is tough to play through, extremely dark and morally challenging, but I think it was done with good cause and mostly tastefully. I think a lot of gamers are crying over senpai Joel without understanding the deeper meaning of the narrative.

    just mediocre, repetitive, bad story. I only enjoyed some of the new mechanics added, 2 of them, rest of the stuff was already available in the 1st one. story is complete garbage and the game contains waaaay too many gameplay interruptions.

    Good Great Stunning for graphic, game play. Some nice action and scene. Plot and story though, don't compare this **** to the first one. Whoever come up with the plot with Joel's execution, delivered it poorly. Stop making game. Go living a sad miserable life instead.

    Went through the whole game and I wish that they could've fake Joel's death to get him off the hook then big surprise by the end. Or Abby got infected by the ending then a sour revenge turn into forgiveness that can be respect. Too easy...... that execution is too easy for Joel. This is the end of the series. A cheap shot for part 2.

    If you never play the last of us before. Then play this game. It's alright with up to date graphic. But if you did play the last of us before. You will find that same feeling like FFXV. The plot that can never be complete.    … Expand

Naughty Dog has unbelievably talented people who are simply the best in terms of Game Engine development and refinement of their own technology. They must be really proud of what they've achieved throughout these years and they have the right to be.

    My big issue with this game is the story and writing. Joel dies at the beginning of the Story, not a problem at all: sets the mood for a huge ride into revenge and violence in the streets of Seattle. I liked the powerful prologue and I couldn't empathize more with Ellie. I felt the same as what Ellie felt and that's what that prologue was supposed to do.
    While in Seattle though, a series of very stupid events happen. Leah, Norah, Mel, Owen, Manny and other characters die (sometimes even by a death worse than Joel's) and no one seem to give a **** about them or notice their death (for clearly forced coincidences). Characters motivations are often very bland and weak and Abby's journey often doesn't make any sense and as a player you struggle to empathize with her and her journey to "redemption".

    The ending was very weak and not as powerful as they thought it would be. Imagine sitting at Naughty Dog hearing authors saying "HEY, this walk to the beach following Abby and Lev thinking at what she has done must be really cool" well it's not. Like it's not cool the final fight which I get it is intended to be anticlimatic but not to that extent. In general the powerful story of revenge and redemption that TLOU2 was supposed to be ends up being just an "OK experience". The only thing I can do is to be suspicious of their next work, this game simply leaves me indifferent. No hate, no love.    … Expand

A miserable pseudo open corridor world with stupid AI, degraded animations (where are your praised CGI staged scenes from E3 2018?), A dumb stealth that everyone is tired of back in the previous part. On the plot, I still care about the gameplay, but the ending itself is delusional, which leads to nothing.

The weapon expansion system or the opponents AI also did very well. All in all it is an ND game. Unfortunately, the story itself did not appeal to me. Killing Joel - a veteran by Abby without knowing her motives, then forcing the player to play her makes the game frustrating. But maybe that was the director's endeavor. The ending of the game is equally annoying. Ellie decides to let go of Abby, who also killed Tommy-brother Joel, at the very end of Ellie concludes that revenge is bad? She couldn't imagine it when she brutally murdered Abby's friends [e.g. Nora]. For me, as a person attached to the first part, the story is disappointing. Gameplay is very similar to the first part, not too many new solutions introduced. Most zombie opponents are the same, probably a new type or two has been added. While facial expressions and the expansion of live opponents is admirable. After killing a dog, its owner calls him by name! Overall, this is a good game, although not revolutionary like the first part. As a continuation of Ellie's adventures, the game falls out worse.

    Just wrapped up a full playthrough of Naughty Dog's The Last of Us 2 - and WOW - what an absolutely beautiful, stunning, heart wrenching, graphic, gory, glorious emotional rollercoaster ride!!!     The game has horrific graphics and some decent, but repetitive action gameplay. Sadly the game is largely held back by very poor writing direction that seems intended to be annoying rather than interesting. So it has achieved its goal: it has annoyed me. I've played thru the game and immediately traded it for a better game, would not buy if I knew how bad this was.

    I don’t understand all these negative reviews left, the majority being on the day of release, so they have barely played the game at all.
    people are complaining about the characters and how different Ellie is, they seem to have the image of the 14 year old girl from the first game... the fact that she is now a young adult (19/20) seems to confuse them, she is not going to be a standard young adult by today's standard as she grew up in a apocalyptic world...
    The game takes away the effect of being able to run in and gun everything down instead you have to think carefully about the encounters, and plan your moves carefully as one wrong decision could be the difference between life and death.
    The story is based on Ellie’s quest for revenger after the brutal murder of Joel, its more based on the physical and emotional effects of her decisions and actions, and you can see her character change due to this throughout the course of the game.
    I am speaking from knowledge of the game as i have completed it once and am now on my second play through.
    Now i admit there are things that could be done better and explained more, however the overall game is amazing, i also love the fact that they are diversifying with their characters with Ellie being gay and Dina being Bisexual, it just brings to light that just because there is an apocalypse doesn’t mean everyone will suddenly be heterosexual.
    Honestly i think Naughty Dog have done another fantastic game, i would recommend it to everyone.    … Expand

The only one but of the game the story, well narrated but very disorganized in its events, badly skilled the death of one of its characters if it had occurred in the middle of the game and with more credibility would have helped the title toWonderful game.     This is truly outstanding game. Game mechanics are solid, visual design on some magnificent level. Each punch with different tool feels like you hit it by yourself.
    The storyline also very strong, and in some moments very sad.
    Dogs did a good job with passion. But they spoiled everything with LGBT theme. That was completely unnecessary and disgusting.

Neil Druckmann quoted 'City of Thieves' by David Benioff as the main inspiration for the story - Benioff being one half of the infamous 'D&D' who botched the final season of Game of Thrones so much that one of the defining cultural touch points of a generation was forgotten within weeks and all the planned spinoffs were cancelled by their studios. They even have the nerve to put the book in the game - at one point Abby can be seen reading it when she is woken up. Couple this with Halley Gross being the lead co-writer, known for 'Westworld' which at first showed promise but quickly was exposed to be a whole lot of nothing, so much so that the third season's viewing figures are down a whopping 57% from the previous season.

    With this stellar line up of writers there was no realistic chance of a competent story ever being told. In their efforts to to break away from the status quo and 'subvert expectations' what we are presented with is a confusing mess of a story. I don't mind Joel being killed off, but the game establishes no connection with the player and Abby before you're forced to play as her. I was actually enjoying the first half of the game before the character switch - at which point I just lost all motivation to continue. I only completed it on the strength of the first game and the fact I paid £60 for it. I simply didn't care about this character, her back story, or her friends - who you know will die, ruining any kind of suspense or mystery during her playthrough.

    Going back in time was a big mistake for me - the story loses all momentum and you feel like you're just trudging along to get back to the scene in the theatre. It felt like a prequel within a game. The constant flashbacks for both charcters also ruined the pacing and overall the story can't hold a candle to the first game - which is a simple linear story through time focusing on the relationship between just two characters. In this game there are upwards of a dozen characters to keep track of and it felt like a TV show adaptation - with little character development for any of them. The overall theme of 'revenge is bad' was done in such a hamfisted way that it made you roll your eyes by the ending. The final act of the game could have been cut completely and the story starts to drag - the game is about 5 hours too long.

    Beyond the story the game is a technical masterpiece - the graphics, the gameplay, the audio, the acting, the world building, etc. Unfortunately for the game designers it's the the story which is the bedrock of the game and this falls well short. The story of part 1 is the main reason for the great sales figures for part 2. It's therefore likely that the story of part 2 will be the main reason for the reduced sales figures of part 3.    … Expand

    The game is not perfect in any shape or form the best thing is the graphics i didn't like the shooting mechanics or the Abby story it was just a waste they should have focused on Ellie story that i like more even if a lot of people didn't like the ending it was okay for me so i had no issue with it.

    Incredible performances, incredible graphics and detail, incredible gaming moments I’ll never forget. The Last of Us Part II is a story experience unlike anything I’ve played before and has, without a doubt, risen the bar for what gaming can be- just as it’s predecessor did seven years ago.

    Awful graphics, awful controls, awful camera and bad theme. This is a pretty mediocre release in every way. Graphics are like welcome to five years ago. Were they blindfolded when making the camera? Main character is boring. Hopefully this is the last game in the series

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
