    Graphics and combat were great.... The beginning of the story was good but... i truly hated the Abby part and the Ending is just ..... BAD.

    Besides the graphics & gameplay this game is not worth the money & surely not worth your time. If you were a fan of the first game there are bits and pieces of ellie & joel fan service sprinkled out throughout the story , besides this I can't think of any other redeeming qualities that would make this game worth anybody's time.

    The controls were a bit clunky but the mechanics overall are decent. My issue is with the story and characters itself. I personally found, compared to the first game, the overall writing as not as good. Additionally, the characters were less developed and relatable and I found myself less attached to them. Gameplay wise, stacks up to first.

    Beautiful graphics and the sound engineers did an good job bring that chilling clicking sound that I loved in the first game. But sadly, this game is more sit, watch and listen to what the developers message of ‘story’ is. Characters are tossed away like small trash and you feel forced to continue since what you can about is teased in doses. Lackluster and honestly disappointed in the game.

But the story just walks the entire franchise off a cliff. Joel's death especially. Myself and literally the entire fan base was fine with Joel dying. However, the way they killed him off was the most disturbing and dumbest way to kill of a MAIN character. Had zero affect on the story and Naughty Dog literally treated him like a naughty dog (pun intended). You can tell the writers tried extraordinarily to like Abby and sympathise with her. Although, that is quite difficult to do considering she literally killed a fan favourite at the beginning of the game. Naughty Dog had the right intentions in painting the antagonists with a good light but it just utterly failed during the execution. This game obviously had a ton of high hopes considering the first game. But, it's sub-par controls and gameplay for a triple A game. It's terrible story where you have no choice but to play as abby THE ONE WHO KILLED JOEL, not only that you have to try and feel sorry for this abby during the rest of the game. I went into this game knowing the spoiler, i was prepared. But even that couldn't stop the onslaught of thoughts going through my head while major things happened. I kept on thinking to myself, "How the **** does that make sense" or "They really messed up the story". I was feeling more pity for those who loved the original and our now playing the sequel compared to actually liking the game. In one last sentence, this game is a hard pass for me.… Expand

    Huge disappointment. TLOU was loved for its script and the beauty of the characters. It was the characters who created the story, not the other way around. Unfortunately in TLOU2, we have a horrible and incoherent story.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After 7 years from the masterpiece that was The Last of Us, we get the sequel to a very loved game. It would seem impossible to think of this game flopping due to everything established in the first game and the excitement of the news of a sequel. But somehow it was worse than I could ever imagine.

    The tragedy that sets the whole story into motion is also a great betrayal of beloved characters on the part of Naughty Dog. The problem with this scene is not that Joel dies but the manner of how he dies and possibly when this takes place in the story. Joel in the TLoU was always cautious and hardly trusting of anyone. Joel even drove into a stranger on the road pretending he was injured because he knew what they were planning from prior experience of doing the same thing. Knowing the danger of people, Joel and Tommy decide to risk their lives to save a stranger with infected storming in to then tell Abby where they live and what their real names are without finding the motives of this stranger first? With the rising pressure of the infected, they decide to flee to the friends of Abby who are hiding in there neck of the woods and probably shouldn't even be there with no cause for concern with what that could mean. Not to mention the game just started and just before you even get your feet wet into the game Joel dies to a nobody in such a dry way just for shock value. This whole scene felt so forced and ingenuine of their characters that I didn't want to keep watching after this all played out.

    The second half of the game was very boring as I couldn't care less for Abby or any of Abby's friends. ND forces you to play as Abby just so they can impress upon you that Abby was justified with the actions that unfolded throughout the game. I never bought into this idea and never will. Also, don't get me started with the unbearable sex scene that came out of nowhere.

    What seemed to be the ending(s) of the game which I thought ever time it faded to black was more disturbing than what they did to Joel. Between the ideology being shoved down our throats the whole game to the cycle of revenge never taking place which was broken as Ellie let her go, I realized this game was a giant waste of my time.

    The only good things I can take away from the game are the amazing graphics, superb voice acting, and the flashbacks to Joel and Ellie that looking back now should have been the entire game.    … Expand

    I thought it fell so short. Gameplay was expansive but long, but the graphics were incredible. However, I loved the first game for the story and this story is just not good. I'm saddened by it and I'm sad to leave this review but it missed. Hoping that better things come out of this

    2. Clunky controls, jump button is an absolute joke.
    3. Don't even get me started with the lazy and absurd, lousy 30-hour time-filler. That's not a story. The ending literally proves its meaningless.
    4. Destroying iconic characters the entire fan base loves in a disrespectful way and spitting in our faces was absolutely ridiculous.
    5. Nothing else changed. New characters and 'gameplay' were boring after the first 10 hours.

    This is such a shame. This game was supposed to make quarantine a little bearable.
    Instead, we've got a game that makes you hate yourself during the whole playthrough. I don't want to play something that forces me to watch all my loved characters suffer or become some sort of a monster.     The gameplay is really the same, which wasn't cutting edge even back in 2013 and now it's just straight-up boring. The violence levels are absurd, which is weird coming from a person who was giggling like a small child while playing Doom Eternal recently. I'm really sorry, but as a person who had to put down his dog, I don't want to play a game that forces me to kill one while watching her suffering and then make rub it in my face and make me feel like an ****
    And the sex scene... One of the dumbest and most disgusting sex scenes I've seen on screens. Great job with "not sexualizing" women.
    The only upside is the graphics, which are gorgeous. The animations are top-notch as well.
    This game should have been great, but it really sucks what it turned out to be. And it really sucks for all those developers and artists and Naughty Dog, because you can see how much work was put in it and how many crunches they had to go through. But unfortunately, this game is ruined by bleak, horrible characters and even worse plot, that was written with a whole purpose of taking everything you loved about the first part, ripping it in pieces, and setting it on fire together with your house.    … Expand

Character development is garbage, characters do things that their character wouldn't do, Plots holes, TERRIBLE killing Joel like that, it just felt like lots of luck and no actual story development.     Story arc is utterly delusional. Characters make choices they wouldn’t, because a new 4head ran this guano show. He even inserted himself in the game just to have a sex scene with his new muhqueen. Jon snow still knows nothing. We’re forced to play a character only a small minority will relate too, for ideological reasons not her/him/it’s mental state. If a character is well written and enthralled by an engaging story everyone will relate to them. Pure pandering, welcome to 2020 folks. That just teaches me that those who grow a heart literally let the bad guy walk. Heck Ellie lost 2 fingers from abby, making her unable to play the guitar Joel left her. This story is such a punch to the face. No, it's more of a blow with a golf club to the head. My revenge lead me down a horrible path but hers still gave her a second chance? None of the way how joel even died made sense. How he was so willing to just be surrounded by all those random people. How tommy gave away the location of their town and offered them supplies. It was all pathetically written and disappointment doesn't begin to cover how I feel towards this game. Sure it looks amazing. But you're polishing a pile of **** No matter how much you try and make it look nice. At the end of the day. It's still a pile of crap you're forced to play with. Why am I giving this a 1 despite the other parts and aspects of the game? That's because I feel that if this game is given anything higher, Neil won't wake the **** up and realize it's not the lack of woke-ness that ruined the game. It's his dumb writing that did.… Expand

    This part 2 is a huge let down. Story is as horrible as other people mentioned. I would give it 1 star for gameplay but -1 star for not listening to disappointed people on social media. Think twice before you buy, they don't deserve your money.

    Story 0/10, very much not the advertised story we were told this would be, playing through as a psychopath to justify the killing of Joel and the ending left us with the feeling there was too much of the story cut and we will have to buy the remastered uncut version when the PS5 goes live.
    Sound 4/10, the music does barely fit the story narrative, the voice acting could be better with the grunts, oofs and screams for they sound muted and the dogs were too loud with their subtle high pitched squels.
    Controls 1/10, not a fan of sequence based movements for you are always having to time and predict when you are going to move before you make your movement.
    Overall 1/10, there is nothing other than the story and some unlockables to replay the game, so difficulty doesn't really matter and there is no pay off for playing at higher difficulties.    … Expand

I did enjoy what they did with Ellie. But the story is terrible. I hate how they used Joel in this. He was the main character in the first one and they used Him in a terrible way. I don’t really mind that Joel died. But I hate how they killed him. I would have prefer him to sacrifice him self to save Ellie. and the ending is one of the worst ending to a game that I have ever seen. It was so bad.     The story is one of the worst I’ve experienced in gaming history. The first one is an absolute masterpiece. It makes this game even worse knowing that they were able to make such a great game before this. Neil Druckman should be fired and replaced.

The end completely incomprehensible, it felt that they wanted to put Abby through our throat forcing us to use her when it is IMPOSSIBLE to feel some kind of empathy for her. Writing is all over the place, and representation felt forced honestly. While it's good to have groups be represented this game did it too far in a way that it didn't feel right if that makes sense. The post-apocalyptic feeling of the zombie game that was Part 1 is there, but the zombie stuff isn't a major topic like it originally was instead we got a revenge plot that only happens cause the writers threw out Joel's whole character so he could get killed by a Fridge with muscles with a golf club, and Ellie's promise to "kill" the Fridge gets thrown away cause she feels sorry for the Fridge saved 60 bucks thank you xQc.… Expand

Start the game as normal in town you're the Talk of the Town because he kissed a girl and wow okay nothing to do with zombies nothing to do with the first story so let's let's get on with it secondly you leave leave Jackson a small community Town put together by Maria Joel's brother's wife. You leave to go on patrols which was pretty cool and makes sense you want to control around the whole surrounding area in case any infected get to close it quickly switches to this unlikeable character named Abby an overly muscular girl I think as they said they did not want to portray gender in this game for some reason which makes us scared to look really stupid and dumb and someone I wouldn't want to play as picture Jordan Vaughn Stranglehold from Fairly Odd Parents mixed with the likeness of the boy who played in the reboot in Rob Zombie's Halloween movie the whole reason of her story from what I can muster because I couldn't find myself to finish this game even though I know what happens is she's getting revenge for Joel killing her parents now there's nothing wrong with a good Revenge story but when you're playing as Ellie you go on a murderous Rampage and kill almost everyone except responsible except for Abby. The graphics are amazing and the gameplay is mediocre and repetitive but that’s not why I play these types of games, I play them for story and to have fun. The only time I enjoyed playing was during flashbacks especially Ellie’s birthday which showed what we all loved about the first game the bond between Ellie and Joel. The characters feel like they’ve been stripped of all important character traits that made them who they are in part 1. Ellie the girl who’s killed hundreds without batting an eye starts to feel sympathy for Joel’s killers and lets Abby go in the end. They kill off Joel at the very beginning of the game and force you to play as a character that you already hate. There aren’t very many good sides to this game besides the graphics and game mechanics plus the small flashbacks where Joel is still alive. Which are over shadowed by the storyline that is brutally forced down your throat. Critics are saying that the game hasn’t even been out for long yet all the cutscenes are on YouTube.
