    I was really divisive whether I should give this game a 1 for its gameplay or 0 for its entirety. But I have decided to give this a 0 anyway so people won't have to waste 25 hours into this pure garbage.
    Most of us kind of having a hunch already that Joel might be dead in this game but apparently they executed it is so poorly and the most insulting thing is that you have to play as stay puft for around 10 hours and they wanted you to care for her. How on earth could the director think of that nonsense? We played the first one and rooted for the relationship of Joel and Ellie and that's the selling point of it. And now they only throw a bit of it here and there and instead they put so much effort to show their political agenda and sacrificing a good story.
    And last but not least, for all of you that wants to keep going with the spoiler. I guarantee you it provides no satisfying ending at all.
    If they want to make a memorable game, then congrats because they have definitely made me memorize one of the biggest scam in a game franchise.
    I will stay away from any future game that you direct, Neil. You don't deserve that title.    … Expand

    6 hours into the game, and i can say, dont listen to some kids that cant afford this game and are seeing some random parts of the game off YouTube and getting but hurt because of LGBT part of the game. It is fantastic, as good as 1st one. It is grim, sometimes too much, but still fantastic. Highly recommend.

To say that men and homophobes have an issue with this game is insulting and disregards the fact that you have to play the game as a Abby while she wants to kill Ellie. What happened to this game honestly? I’m a woman, and it’s sad that I’ll have to announce that when giving a score to this game to be able to show that MEN aren’t the only ones upset, and I’m not a homophobe. Now that I’ve cleared that up, this story does not compare to TLOU1 and the gameplay doesn’t either when players are forced to play as the antagonist in over 10 hours. The theme for this game is obviously ‘revenge bad’ but still Abby should get away with killing the lead character from the first game without any repercussions? Lmao I can’t do anything else but laugh at this point. I could’ve spent my money on other things and this feels like a waste of time and money to be honest.… Expand

    Amazing Game. Can´t understand the hate. The gameplay is so dynamic and something special. The story is something diffrent and this is what the game does make so perfect. 10 out of 10 really enjoyed the time with the game.

    Visually it is the best looking game on the PS4. You can tell the amount of hard work and attention to detail that has gone into making this game look stunning. The lighting in particular is next gen and I truly believe will be a benchmark for other triple A titles to hit.

    The soundtrack was noticeably absent for a lot of the game. When it was present it had the familiar feel of the first game, but it was hardly present. there were still some fantastic scenes that were made by the sound and music direction, but they are few and far between.
    Voice acting was on point throughout the entire game. Cannot really fault it.
    The Story! Oh dear lord this is where it gets very tricky. Thematically, it should work very well but it sadly falls flat. Many of the characters introduced in this game I just don't care about. They have somewhat fleshed out stories and history, but sometimes they just feel kind of unnecessary. This is also meant to be a story about revenge and how it can become all consuming, a message that the game constantly throws at you. The problem to this of course is that in game we have no choice but to try and enact our revenge. there is no 'Spare the life' option of any of the human enemies you fight. the only option there is, is to either continue playing the game, and have it try and make you feel bad for the decisions you are making, or stop playing the game altogether.
    The game is also too long. A few times came natural stopping points for the game, a final showdown if you will, but trying to end the game there just gets you the 'game over' animations and throws you to the start of the encounter again. It just feels weird to play through it! I cant go into too many details without posting spoilers, but for a game that heavily relies on the story, this does fall quite short. I think it would have worked better as a 3quel or maybe a couple of separate games as parts of the story are disjointed. Either they had two many ideas and tried to cram them all in or the story was changed late in production as some of it just doesn't quite fit.
    Overall the game is great to play and I couldn't put it down. But that seemed to be in spite of itself at times.

The way they improved their gameplay, their animations and even the sounds is amazing. The level design is incredible, especially if you keep in mind the kind of level design the first TLOU had. They improved a lot.

    Now, when it comes to the story... It's a very    People rating this game as a 0 or 1 are clearly haters. Even if you completely despise this story, this game is incredible. The way they improved their gameplay, their animations and even the sounds is amazing. The level design is incredible, especially if you keep in mind the kind of level design the first TLOU had. They improved a lot.

    Now, when it comes to the story... It's a very tough experience. The story is cruel, sad and angry. Does that make it bad? No. I still love the story and I love the characters. Each decision made by each character is completely justified and you can understand why they do what they do. Each character gets what they deserve in the end, even if it's not pretty or doesn't seem completely fair at first. If you really think about it, the ending is perfect. Does that mean it's an ending that leaves you with a smile on your face and feeling proud of what you've done? No. Because there's nothing to be proud of when it comes to revenge and violence. But everything the characters have done is completely understandable.

    The only reason why I've given this game a 9 instead of a 10 is the way they present the story. I won't say it's confusing because I was never really lost, but it's true that they jump around in the game timeline a lot, and sometimes it's annoying. Also, I feel like there's some characters you don't get attached to (Jesse, Yara and Abby's group) and sometimes the game treats these characters as if they were important somehow. Just because you're with them for a couple of minutes, that doesn't mean you get attached to them. I think they did well with Lev and Abby, but I just couldn't care about the others I mentioned. But it might be just me that needs more time to get attached to characters.

    The rest was amazing. Great experience, makes you question everything you do, and makes you hate some decisions the character make, even if you understand them. This game makes you realize that revenge will only bring more pain and loss.    … Expand

    The game has a serious amount of flaws the story isn't as captivating as the 1st game character design is awful their also seems to be a strong hate towards trans people in the game and Joel the supposed saviour is killed by a golf club he's survives everything except a stick of metal not even a heroic ending

    My main issues with the game are as follows
    1. Destroying Joel's character and killing him off the in the first hour of the game.
    2. Spending 10ish hours playing as a character I loath.
    3. After going through everything we don't even get the payoff of killing Abby at the end.

    TLOU 2 is far and away the most developed and intricate game I know aware of. The character development and storyline is on par with the best of cinema and the graphics are about as photo-real as todays technology can handle. The story, emotion, combat mechanics, world-building, physics, horror, characters/VO, graphics, music and sound all working flawlessly and in harmony makes the Last Of Us II feel like a next generation of video gaming. I felt like a character in a well-crafted movie.

    This game is what publishers will strive to be on par with for the next several years. Well done Naughty Dog. The developers and everyone involved should be incredibly proud of what they have created.

    Unfortunately people are narrow minded and have decided they don't like a game with homosexual characters, or the death of a beloved character, and are acting out like overgrown children to voice their hatred. Don't listen to them. They are the worst of us. They are scared of the importance of what you have achieved.

    I got the game the day it came out and played it everyday until I finished it. The did break my heart and gave me a story I was not expecting, but in the end I love it. Game of the year contender for sure.

The story was so well written and deep, it really got into your heart. How to story played out, you could really feel like, you would have made the same decisions as Joel did, especially in the end. After losing his daughter, and the amount of time he had spent with Ellie, he really looked at her like his OWN daughter and he would have done anything to protect her. The gameplay was also nice and the graphics were awesome too.
    The game was story-driven, it had amazing characters and an amazing story, and these are the two components which made the game being liked by soooo many people.
    When they announced that a second part was coming, I was so excited, I wanted to see the two characters, I really got to love during the first game, appear again and have another great adventure/journey together.
    I had no problem with Ellie being the main protagonist, I thought "that's cool, this time Joel will be the one accompanying her and not vice-versa"
    I also had no problem with Ellie having a relationship with Dina, they look so cute together.
    I also had no problem, when they announced Abby, and that we will be playing with her as well.
    I was like "okay, that's cool too, I'm sure that she is connected to Ellie or to Joel somehow, and that's why they are introducing her"
    I prepared myself for the release, I said to myself "I'm gonna stay up and watch the whole game no matter how long it takes"
    By the time I got to the end, I was shocked... I did not belive it at first.
    You are 20 minutes or so into the game and they frekain. kill. Joel, who was the main protagonist in the first game, the one who was loved by the whole gaming community
    I don't have a problem with Joel being killed, I think the community already knew this, I mean they were prepared for Joel being killed at somepoint
    But. Not. Like. This. He died like a freaking noob who just started surviving in a world which made a lot of people crazy and greedy towards others.
    Why would he die like that? He is old, he has been surviving in this world for who knows how long, and he and his brother have just met a group of strangers, and they tell them their NAME?!
    Why on Earth would they do that?!
    Time passes, and the game forces you to play with Abby, for half of the game and the developers expect the players to feel sorry for Abby, just because his father was killed by Joel, and she got her revenge. She is NOT a likeable character, AT ALL. Putting aside all the gender and sexuality things, she kills the ONE PERSON who we loved so much and they want us to feel her sadness and motivations why she was like that and why she did it.
    The developers put Ellie and Joel in the villain role, like they are the bad guys, doing terrible things and just... hurting others.
    Don't tell the players they can't play this game with a "closed-mind". Nobody, I repeat, NOBODY is going to like Abby.
    And then the Ending... oh god... this could take up a whole another topic.
    After Joel's death, Ellie swears vengence, saying she will kill every one of them, so she does with everyone BUT Abby.
    After the game forces you to play as Abby and try to kill Ellie, the screen goes black and just random months pass. like... wut...?
    And then Ellie sets out to finally get her revenge on Abby, finds her, helps her get to the boats so they can escape, but then challenges her to a fist fight, finally settling the score between the two of them.
    Ellie has the upper hand, starts choking Abby underneath the water, then gets a flashback on Joel, and then randomly releases Abby and lets her go...
    Then Ellie returns home, hoping that she will find Dina and their child, but finds nothing. Oh and she also loses the last memory of Joel, the guitar (she can't play it, because Abby bit off two of Ellie's fingers), and then just starts walking out the farm...
    In a game, where the story and the characters make the game great, you need to have a great story and loveable characters, but the developers failed to deliver
    The whole story makes no sense. This is not how we got to know Joel and Ellie, they would never have done such things.
    Then the devs come and be like, "We don't understand why players don't like the game", even calling us incels...
    Like really? You are making a game, which has an audience, then you decide to put your own political and sexual perspectives on the game, going so far as insulting your own audience.
    Suprised people wanting to refund the game?
    A game is made to entertain people, not to teach politics and gender/sexual equality. Everyone has their own opinion about the last two things, you have no right to change that and shouldn't try forcing your own on others.

    Neil has proven that without Bruce or Amy to steer the ship, he's a completely incompetent writer. The game is a pandering mess with ridiculous characters, subplots and writing. Beloved characters from the first game are disregarded and desecrated so you can focus on Neil's new cast of diverse characters.

If I turn a blind eye on those transgenders, transformers and other species, I’ll notice the lack of sense in main characters’ actions. Ending is ridiculous. I could understand, if there were a choice to kill or not Abby, but there wasn’t. All the story, all the long journey and adventure goes to trashcan. Idk why Naughty dog think it could be met positively by gamer community and sensible people. -5 for the story.… Expand

They will force you to change characters every know and then and not only that there are too many flashbacks that get old really fast. The gameplay is fun during the first half of the game but gameplay also gets old, you will be doing the same thing over and over and over again and this is: enter a new area press R1 to see who’s in there sneak behind them press square and then stealth kill them (with the same animation every single time), that is the gameplay don’t let them fool you with the trailers they have been releasing where every action looks so fluid and dynamic.
    Having said that, the game environments, characters and the animations (facial expressions interactions) look absolutely amazing, truly amazing. Certain scenes really can touch you and make you emotional but as we said as the game progresses the intensity of the story dilutes and between this and the repetitiveness of the gameplay is why you will eventually drop the controller.    … Expand

Игру, по моему мнению, не испортила даже перенасыщеность "гендерных проблем", хотя изначально мне казалось, что это убьёт сюжет. Но нет, к моменту развязки все это ушло на второй план. Выводы, которые делают герои по ходу игры очень сильно меняют героев и это видно по их решениям - от начальной тяги к мести герои приходят к мысли, что месть - ничего не изменит.
    Но есть одно, от чего моё сердце до сих пор разрывается - смерть Джоэла. Из за этого хотелось понизить оценку на 3-4 балла, но я сдержался. Ведь я понимаю, что не все должно быть так, как мне хочется. Это - жизнь. И игра следует тому же правилу. Разработчики не побоялись хейта за принятие непопулярного и осуждаемого в обществе решения. И это круто. Немногие студии могут этим похвастать.
    Хотя мне кажется, что я бы смог решить эту проблему без смерти такого яркого, самобытного и колоритного персонажа, как Джоэл. Однако, к сожалению, не я работаю в компании.

    This game just blew my mind. The story is so real and I've felt the same like Ellie. This game will make you cry and laugh. You'll be angry. You will want the revenge. At the end, if you understand the ending, then you understand what was Neil trying to tell. I just love it.

    Feeling extremely sorry for the employees at Naughty Dog that worked on the gameplay of the game, graphics, mechanics, etc. But the game is nothing if you don't enjoy it playing, which is what the story ruined.

    Neil Druckmann ruined the game and should be banned from the gaming industry FOREVER together with Anita Sarkeesian.

What is the whole point of the ending, why we have traveled so many miles, a huge number of people have died. Take and release Joel’s killer, are you serious?!? In technical terms, the game is good, I do not argue, but still this game is more about the plot, and here it is bad. I can’t understand why critics put this game at 10, the script of this game is a real arthouse, not everyone likes this game, I think that this game can only be put 7-8, and then with a stretch. The Last Of Us Part. 2 can be classified as one of the biggest disasters in narratives of a game of this generation, because what was seen in the campaign was a construction of a revenge that not even, teen Disney films can be as bad as and the saddest this is how Neil Druckmann treated one of the most iconic characters in the game, Joel, who literally prostitutes himself for a coffee, YES, YOU DID NOT READ WRONG, A COFFEE. The guy who saves Ellie's skin several times in the first game, which is no longer everything the media says, is treated like a totally disposable character, an irrelevant NPC.

    As for the gameplay, little changes in relation to the first game, with the addition of the dodge, but the movement is totally outdated for what we see today, perhaps the only positive point is the graphic look of the game which is beautiful and the soundtrack that it's acceptable, but nothing flawless, but it ends there. The technical part is totally flawed, with several bugs that can hinder gameplay, having to restart to the control point for the game to return to normal and I do not understand how the so-called "specialized media" in part of the world is not judicious with games from Naughty Dog, giving the impression of a perfect game before user reviews, totally encouraging the purchase of the game.

    But the worst of it all is the story, that in addition to disrespecting Joel, the plot is based on a persecution of the antagonist of the game (Abby) that you play with her and try to humanize her, it is as if they tried to humanize the Joker in a the Batman game, and Abby who is more masculine than the male characters in the game, the LGBT relationship between Ellie and Dina is the least important, because in the Left Behind DLC her sexual orientation has already been shown, which is positive in the case of a created character (different from the militancy that tries to push classic characters to please a noisy minority), the ending then is disastrous, because in addition to the bad story built on the concept of revenge, the main character throws everything out of the effort made during the campaign.

In fact, I don't even know if he had credit for certain, Druckman usurped her work, just as he had already done with Uncharted.

    Amy Hennig is only responsible for building the Uncharted universe and even with all the recognition, Druckmann wanted changes to his style and his style is there, making a game with a narrative worse than teen films.

    The story is fine. Yes it may not be as good as the first one but that does not make the game any less worthy of praise. The gameplay is immaculate, the graphical attention to detail is stunning and the inclusion of more semi-open world areas (from the uncharted format) really compliment part 2 of this game series. Reviewed by a regular guy without deep, underlying issues.

The Story is a complete disaster versus the first game, the logical aspects of trying to survive completely ignored, leading to unrealistic character decisions (such as Joel giving his name away leading to his death, this being out of character for Joel as he is incredibly suspicious in the first game). As well as this many new character's are added such as Abby and Dina who are forgettable and annoying, they add little to the story, although admittedly Dina does start to grow on you towards the end. Ellie is also out of character, by the end of the game she doesn't enact her revenge and still loses out, this was inadequate sequel that should not have been made. It is definitely not a 10/10, if I was generous it would get a 4/10… Expand

    I don't usually write reviews but this game doesn't deserve the amount of hate that it's getting. It's not a perfect game but also it's not the worst as the bad reviews are telling you. I finished it and I can say that in it's entirety it's a journey worth experiencing.

    it also has a start that draws you in. obviously it is played for 3 hours in a row at first without ever leaving the game
    but when you get in the middle of the game you can start to get bored slowly
    but when you get to the end you are begging for the game to end, especially when you play the memories of Abby you are getting cold from the game.

    Absolutely brilliant. Very different to the first game, but gives characters consequences for that actions in the first game. It's not the Joel and Ellie story anymore, so if that's what you're looking for, it's not what you're in for.

I really liked the game, i hated it at first because of what they did story wise, it was just so quick and at first i thought to myself "How can Joel be so careless" But after finishing the game i get it, he lived in Jackson for 5 years, he's getting older and is softening up a bit, still feels guilty to Ellie for what he did in the first game. Joel took Ellie her goal/purpose in life away from her, she was supposed to die in that hospital for a possible vaccine and she was okay with it. I have trouble with writing out how i feel precisely about the game, but i really liked it, the story it told & the general message about the cycle of revenge and vengeance was super. I hated playing as Abby on day 1 but through the cutscenes and discovering her dad was killed by Joel, her interactions with her group of friends and Yara and Lev made me really like her. The graphics, level design, music are also super. seriously impressive. I liked the improved combat system with the dodging mechanic and being able to squeeze through small spaces. The upgrade animations were also super cool and i enjoyed watching those. For me this game was for sure a worthy sequel and a 10/10. It's sad to see the hate online and the review bombing on here (i feel like 70% off those havent even played the game or even own a PS4 to begin with)

    I remember Neil saying the game would divide the fanbase, and it sure did. I really enjoyed it though and i'd like to thank everyone at Naughty Dog for making the game.     The story is a big downgrade from the original which is very disappointing. They haven't really done much to change the combat either and the ending is just so bad. This game could have been so much better.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
