    I think the game unfortunately highlights the worst in people, not because of the game itself but because of bigoted responses. Reading some responses including on Google, It left me almost in tears to think how much hate is out there. The game is a 10. Thanks naughty dog

    Never has a game made me cry so much. A incredibly powerful experience.
    I really didn’t think a sequel was necessary but it justified itself 100x in my opinion. Hoping a grounded mode gets added soon.

    The game makes no steps forward with the game play, the dogs aren't new many games have tracking hounds or other things like that in it.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is my first time reviewing a game, it's not usually something I do, but I couldn't not give this game a 10. It truly is a masterpiece, and something everyone involved in the development should be really proud of what they have achieved!

    Try to ignore the amount of bad reviews, that amount of bad reviews in such a short space of time clearly shows they were not reviewing the whole game! Yes, a certain characters story comes to an end, and yes it sucks that it did, but c'mon guys - what did you expect? Did you genuinely think ND were going to basically mirror the feeling of the first story... They've switched it up, and I for one absolutely loved the experience. Give the game ago and be open minded.

    The graphics are truly spectacular, the gameplay is similar yet polished, the story is different but that doesn't make it bad, if you accept it and see where it takes you then it really is a great experience.

    Easily my favourite game on PS4, and I'm yet to talk to any of my pals who disagree. I finished it on Sunday night and couldn't stop thinking about the overall experience of the story.

    Of course there are a couple things they could have done different, but anything major enough to lower my score? Hell no.

    Anyway, this is just my opinion, but I felt the need to briefly write my thoughts on the game, so hopefully anyone involved in the making of the game may stumble across it amongst all the unnecessary hate, and appreciate that the majority of people accept it for everything it is, and truly appreciate the masterpiece they've created.

    Thanks for making one of my lockdown weekends a much better experience with this game!    … Expand

    The only reason I'm rating 1 is because of how blatantly biased the critic reviews are. I mean scores of 100? Really? You're saying the game cannot be improved AT ALL? In any regard? Wow. Just reminds us once again that you can't trust critics to have your best interests in mind when it comes to spending your money on video games. (Shout-out to the 5 critics that had the balls to give an honest review)

    Pros:
    - Animations (loved the modification/upgrading of weapons, death animations, etc.)
    - Sound design
    - Graphics
    -Environment / atmosphere

    Could be seen as either pro or con:
    - Story / sequencing
    - Characters / character development

    Cons:
    - Some bugs
    (e.g. Couple instances of my weapon going invisible when killing an enemy, then reappearing after killing them lol)
    - It tries to be realistic, but didn't go as far as I expected
    (e.g. Reloading a 2 bullet mag, to add 3 more bullets to it, but your character drops the old mag on the ground that had the spare bullet in it)
    (e.g. Dina teleports to her horse when you get on yours if she's not directly next to it)
    - Looting became boring and repetitive over time
    (i.e. Pick up screws, pick up a bullet in a drawer, open a safe, etc., over and over again)

    The story?
    The game clearly tries to mess with your emotions in a number of ways. It also displays multiple "lessons" that may or may not get you thinking:
    - The cliché lesson of revenge only leading to your own downfall and a feeling of hollowness was desperately injected. Except in this instance, you don't even get to exact that revenge in Ellie's POV. You kill hundreds of people, lose two fingers, lose Joel, lose your partner, just to simply... give up and not follow through? Lol. Yeah you kind of feel sorry for Abbie in the ending fight scene, but if this is the direction you want to take your game at least give Ellie (a.k.a. the player) SOMETHING after all that suffering and grinding.
    - There was also the lesson of "two sides to every story", which I have to admit was portrayed in a way that most people don't usually consider (I'm not referring to the timing of the scenes in-game, but the amount of details of the "other" person in general). I appreciated this aspect, but I didn't like the way they sequenced all the events and flashbacks.
    - Then there's the lesson of "you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone". Another aspect I liked (Because it's a valuable life lesson, just like the previous lesson). A pretty sad realization for Ellie, but unfortunately it was too little too late. It's heartbreaking that Ellie couldn't move on from what Joel did, and couldn't just enjoy her time with him to the fullest before he was killed.

    Relationship?
    Okay we get it, Ellie's a lesbian. No one is saying there's a problem with that, but the way it was portrayed in game is like a religious person trying to force their religion on you. We don't need the details. Add that to the hyper-masculinity of Abbie, and the fact that Lev is a transsexual? Then you start pissing people off because it feels like you're trying to push an agenda in your game, when all we want to do is play games.

    Joel's Death?
    Naughty Dog meeting room: "sHoCk FaCtoR gUyS!!!"
    Sure, it makes sense for him to die because of everything he has done. But the way they killed him and the timing of it? Lol. Also why was he so trusting of these people in the first place? Doesn't make sense.

    tl;dr / Summary: In my eyes the story seemed as if the devs watched GoT or TWD and said "I wanna do that! Look how successful they were!". Overall, it was an unnecessary sequel for anyone that has played the first game. Why would anyone want to waste hours upon hours playing a game just to see their beloved characters completely humiliated and destroyed? At least in GoT you were able to move on with other characters... But this just seems like a game for sadistic people or people that have never played the first game. It's $60USD for a 2020 Depression/SJW/Flashback Simulator... With some redeeming qualities (Especially if you've never played the first game)...    … Expand

    This game is about the lack of forgiveness and the cry for blood.
    This game is about (for the most part) everybody out to do good, but convinced of that self image always ending up attacking others and seeking revenge on others.

    There is a deeper layer to this when the creators say "we feel like this story needed to be told".
    There is a deeper layer to almost every character of some importance or power being a woman.
    There is a deeper layer to almost non of them doing any better than the men.
    There is a deeper layer to almost every man dominant in the story being in the flashbacks.
    There is a deeper layer to Elli pretty much beginning the game with calling someone a "biggot".
    There is a deeper layer in players/fans calling this game out for being "made for SJWs".

    Among these layers are the facts that we are all just human, just because men are out of power (or in case of this game, dead) will not make the world a better place, women will light it on fire just as much. And there is also the fact that people will feel trigged, will start to look for a fight, because at first the woman dominated world with a lesbian protagonist that replaces the man sounds like tagged on to please "SJW" and the Media (Oscar bait in the movie world i suppose). But it's not. You got to look at these deeper layers. It's very well crafted.

    The biggest downside of the game is it's gameplay. It's great, it's fun, it's well don, it looks good... but sometimes you just want to be in the story, see what happens next and instead you have to cut through buildings for the next couple of hours. It kinda gets in the way. I can't wait to see what HBO dos with it's adaptation. This could become what "The Walking Dead" should have been.

    It's a great ride, try it... and see if you are willing to forgive, willing to not jump at the triggers the writers put in this game just for you to bark, just for you to go looking for a fight (albeit a less deadly one). This is a masterpiece.    … Expand

    This is truly not so good, not so bad, but very good,and very bad. The game is bizarre because of script.Not contents of books,but arrangement make mistakes.
    I don't like who forcing players to understand the story,nobody likes,so director lose the best weapon in TLOU: empathy.
    I could play TLOU again and again,for TLOU2…just once.And please,no part3

After hearing in interviews years ago that tlou is Joel and Ellie, and the sequel would be just that, you would be forgiven for taking them at their word. It is little wonder people are annoyed with the terribleAs expected the game looks great, the gameplay is not exactly anything new. Basically some of the uncharted 4 mechanics added in.     As a huge fan of the original game, and more importantly the original characters, this game is just so bad. The graphics are a amazing, the gameplay is about the same, but the story is god aweful, and in a game all about story that just breaks its very foundations hence the score of 0. I honestly wish I had never play it.

But more than half of these reviews are by people who have either not even touched the game or have not even finished it, which u can tell based on the fact that 18k ppl review bombed it in the first few hours when this is a 20+ hr game and from the fact that a lot of the reviews have no clue what happened in the game, which is quite sad, because this is a good game. The best parts of the game are the graphics and the gameplay, but the story isn't nearly as good. I don't understand why tf they made us play as Abby after she killed Joel, I feel like playing as Abby should've been dlc or smth rather than something I have to do to see the finale. But the parts with Abby still had enjoyable gameplay and great scenes. Now the story, it wasn't bad but not great either. The only two problems I really had was the **** ending, and playing as Abby, I understand that the end is supposed to show how Ellie accepts Joel's death and knows that killing her wont bring Joel back. But Ellie killed hundreds of people to get to her, and now when she finally does she feels empathy or regret?

    Anyways apart from that the game is pretty fantastic, playing on the hardest difficulty was extremely fun to add a sense of realism and made each encounter so much more stressful and exciting. And even though there aren't too many new things in stealth, the fact that u can now prone and some of the sequences with water lets to experiment with the combat system a lot more. Basically, u should buy this game but the story might be a bit of a dissapointment.    … Expand

Why would Naughty Dog think it was a genius idea to play as Abby?! Imagine playing RDR2 as Micah after killing Arthur...HELL NO! You will never see a single penny from me ever again Naughty Dog! Other than the **** story, graphics are beautiful & flash backs were amazing...that was the game we deserved. So fn disappointed, wish this game game never happened honestly… Expand

    Sound and Visuals: 10

    This is probably the one part of the game that everyone can universally agree was nailed. The environments were phenomenal, amazing looking flora with great graphical fidelity. Lush forests, verdant cities, dark and impending tunnels, honestly you could spend so much of the game just looking at the environments and not get tired. The use of lighting was incredible, especially in those darker environments. The visual brutality of combat was stunning in how visceral it was. The game even offers character models you can unlock so you can truly marvel at every facet of the infected, and just how much detail was put into the characters. Sound wise everything sounded fantastic, it was more of the same from the first but that’a far from a negative. Every sound really added some extra depth to the brutality of each swing. Gameplay: 7

    So this one has to be broken up and examined for each aspect. Survival/Horror aspects, Combat, and Traversal/Puzzles.

    It’s very much a more refined The Last of Us gameplay. If you didn’t like that you won’t like this. The addition of being able to go prone and dodge help open up new ways to approach your combat. The survival aspect and that feeling of terror when it came to the infected was pretty much stripped away in this one. Infected became more of an obstacle to overcome than a fear inducing enemy. The game constantly forces you to ditch efforts at stealth which kind of takes away your freedom of gameplay. However the world is much more open than the previous one. In addition the locations provided various ways to approach a combat scenario, which helps keep the fights from feeling to stagnant. Traversal was pretty decent with some decent semi-open world areas, but exploring outside of these areas rarely felt rewarding. In addition I felt there was just too much ammo available to ever really worry about, same with parts for craftable items. Puzzles were pretty minor and were neither a positive or a negative for the game. The controls are still rather clunky like the first one. (Sorry had to cut a lot of detail to make the word count)

    Story: 6

    Now, i’m not going to go too indepth in the story, as to not spoil anything, but to put it very simply: It was a 25hour long story that should have been 13hours long. At least 8 hours should have been removed and summarized into a 2 hour long segment AT MOST, (the rest could have been worked into a DLC that would be optional and released after launch) and the last two hours of the game shouldn’t have been included at all. They could have rewrote one segment only slightly, and the last two hours wouldn’t have even needed to take place. The game strives to tell a story of revenge, but drags the story in an attempt to expose you to both sides. The story is not dark, it doesn’t tackle dark and horrific themes, it’s just bleak. The game even teases a happy ending which shocks you due to the fact that it’s so bleak, just to rip it away from you for no real reason. To be fair, there are also TONS of moments where the character chemistry was so good that I couldn’t help but smile. Some really wonderful interactions between the characters and adorable moments. ESPECIALLY in the flashbacks. I understand what Naughty Dog was trying to do, and can appreciated the story for what it is, but it’s execution was far from good. The first half of the game I couldn’t put it down because i wanted to know what would happen next, but the second half I couldn’t put it down because I just wanted to get to the ending. I wholeheartedly believe that if they changed a large portion of the second half, and released it as future DLC, and fixed the ending, the game’s story would be an 8-8.5/10 alone and the game would have been around a 9 overall. It would have been a much more concise story without 3-4 pointless and unnecessary subplots. I will say that I have NO issues with how they decided to go about the game. No issues with how they handled characters, and found them and their paths to be a very natural progression of the story. A lot of the complaints are from fans that are mad about this, and they were unfounded. The characters were enjoyable So yeah, overall I sit at about a 7.6/10 for the game. I enjoyed it for what it was, but it certainly could have been done better.    … Expand

I was more than ready to give the game a 6 or 7, and was very mad at the ending, but once I let it all sink in I realized how good it was. My major problem is that it ruins the first game in ways, but that was pretty much inevitable. This game is a masterpiece

    One of the most thought provoking and beautifully crafted games ever. The visuals are top notch but the characters excel. Not a retread of the first game, the exact definition of a part 2

    I'm not one to post reviews often but I'm compelled to add my opinion after playing through this game over the weekend hoping that things were exaggerated. I feel that a story driven narrative needs to have both relatable characters and compelling story to tell which both are lacking in this game.

    There is no doubt that the engine that was created is impressive and that the game is visually beautiful. That is what earned the 3 points of my review. If nothing else, this provides an even better reason not to preorder games and instead wait for a proper reveiw.

    If you want to know what the story is, I would watch a stream which at least provides you the option to fast forward through all those points where it is a test of your mental fortitude just to proceed..    … Expand

Жму руку разработчикам за титанический труд, если они хотели угодить ЛГБТ, как некоторые выразились, то они сделали это в меньшей возможной мере, к тому же такой химии двух влюбленных девушек я ещё нигде не видел, это было очень мило и как по мне всё было крайне убедительно, актеры дубляжа и захвата движения постарались. Геймеры, сидящие на попе ровно, с кривой осанкой и не следящие за фигурой сразу же начали возникать "а шо это баба такая накаченная ээ, она чё транс ыы" идут лесом, в постапоке я думаю лучше быть накаченным бойцом, чем клацать на джойстик, тем более её ведёт жажда мести за отца. На счёт мести Элли, она правильно сделала, что не убила Эбби, ей и так досталось (смерть отца, верных друзей, сестры Льва, рабство), если кто то после этого все равно хотел её убить, у вас не всё в порядке с головой. Ставлю 8 из 10, геймплей слишком нудный, бежать до кат-сцен и всё, лучше смотреть игрофильм. Если кто-то ожидал хеппи-энда, то вы конечно обосрались, все трейлеры были пронизаны безысходностью, насилием и несправедливостью, что нам и показали, эта игра не для умиления, а чтобы вы прочувствовали всю боль потерь и лишений, с которыми нам так или иначе предстоит столкнуться в этой жизни.… Expand

    Lamentablemente el juego logra tocar y herir las sensibilidades de las masas mas cerradas y a su vez débiles, llegando a hacerles sentir incomodas. Procura qué la próxima vez que intentes calificar el juego como malo lo hagas sin tener que mostrar tu clara inconformidad con la orientación sexual de los personajes y aspecto físico y lo olvidaba,    El mejor juego para cerrar con la PS4.
    Lamentablemente el juego logra tocar y herir las sensibilidades de las masas mas cerradas y a su vez débiles, llegando a hacerles sentir incomodas. I did not expect this from Naughty Dog, we have seen the same revenge theme everywhere but for this game it is a chore to get through. It isn't even deep or well thought out, it's like a middle schooler could create a more complex theme. Yes, revenge is bad and hurts people around you. Not only is this generic and overplayed, but they made it as shallow and surface level as possible. They could have at least made it a little more complex, this is just bad writing. They had years. The gameplay is an improvement but is still repetitive, and the game is very long so it's actually kind of boring. Especially when you stop caring about most parts of the game when you realize how bad the story is. This is the first Naughty Dog game I've ever played where I wasn't wholly engaged. I don't know what happened. If someone told me that I would be checking my phone while playing a sequel to one of the most beloved games of all time, I wouldn't believe you. It almost seems rushed, I'd be fine with a revenge story if it wasn't so surface level and generic. The writing also took a step back. The first game felt like a movie with the smart dialogue, being constantly engaging, and having fleshed out characters. Elie doesn't have much of a personality anymore. Major characters died so suddenly and were never mentioned again, but they weren't well developed anyways so I didn't even remember some of their names, so whatever. Character development isn't really here either. I added an extra star for the amazing visuals and voice acting. That should be recognized. I also liked the representation of LGBT in the movie, as it didn't really interfere with the game and it was just nice to see. I will say though, the game spends more time on saying that Elie is lesbian and showing sex scenes than actually developing her (or anyone else's) character and personality, which was confusing to me. I don't have a problem with the characters not being likeable, I'm fine with that, they just aren't well developed and the whole thing was just very shallow. Nothing interesting at all. Even after the leaks I was expecting something at least a little bit good, I mean it's Naughty Dog. I was expecting some things to be surprising and divisive, but never would I think this would've been boring or badly written. If you actually watch some people play, many streamers have the "let's just get through this" attitude instead of the "I am loving this" attitude of the first game. Many have quit or talk about wanting to quit. It's rare to see them end streams early because they're just "bored," such as what PewDiePie did. This wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't a sequel to The Last of Us. Even if it was separate and called something else, this game would not be very good. It would not make the writing any better or the gameplay less boring. It's a competent game, it's just unremarkable. One of Naughty Dog's most bland games, it is sad to see such a beloved studio fall from grace like this because I'm sure many of the bad decisions here were made by just a handful of people. There is so much talent in that studio, and I still believe in them, so I am just going to pretend this game does not exist. Might be one of the biggest disappointments I have ever seen. When someone buys a PS4 and asks what games to get, you immediately recommend them the latest Naughty Dog game. But I would not recommend friends this game, not just people who were fans of the first, but even casual and unassuming gamers that just want to find a good game. This is not a good game and I am having a hard time understanding why some people would rate this higher than a 7/10. There's no substance or anything even engaging in this game.     Highly disappointed. Naughty dog should be ashamed of releasing this sequel to a fan base drooling for a game of this caliber. It's a disrespect and a slap in the face to anyone who knew and lived tlou franchise. My only regret is spending 80$ to preorder this crap.

You knew people weren't gonna buy this dog**** if you told them Joel dies at the getgo by playing a bit of golf with that mother****** Abby.
    Yes Joel needed to die for the story to work but he didn't need to die like this.. you guys literally dumbed him down just to serve the plot.. the Joel I knew and loved would never have trusted Abby enough to go back to her mansion and neither Tommy nor Joel would've uttered their names like "hi my name's **** Joel I killed the fireflies we live in a city downhill oh some big guns y'all got there you have ammo?here take mine and shoot me in the goddamn leg".
    And it wasn't just Joel.. Ellie is extremely unlikeable.. alongside with Dina and Jesse.. on Abby's side is the same **** unlikeable characters and even tho I felt ok with Owen's character the pacing and the timing of them flashbacks were so dog**** that by the time we got to them I couldn't care less and was already over the fact that they died and just wanted to get back to Ellie or just **** finish the game..
    Ellie's and Dina's relationship feels as forced as homework felt in the 3rd or 4th grade.. not because they're both females.. swap Dina out for a male character and it still would've been utter garbage...
    I ain't even gonna talk abou the ending cuz that **** made me wanna wash my eyes with **** Griffin acid from the Witcher because that game was actually amazing.. but rn as the metascore stands this **** is better than TW3...
    This game proves that good graphic doesn't make a good game.. I also like how youtubers had to mute certain sections because of copyright.. like you know people are gonna make content so why make the half of it **** copyrighted...
    The only two characters that were decently written were Yara and Lev and none of them **** matter at the end..

    I have literally no idea why anyone would hate this game. The story is FINE, maybe even better than Tlou 1.Gameplay is much better than the prevoius one and so are the graphics (obviously) plus the physics used is top notch (especially with the ropes swinging). I'm 100% sure most of the haters havent even played the game or are xbox/pc players getting angry because they dont get ro play this.

Decisions that make no sense, characters that the game consistently tries to shove in your face for you to feel sorry, the last of us 2 is a complete disappointment. Wasted my money buying this trash. Biggest flop in the videogame industry.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Nachdem ich mir auch zu genüge kritische Stimmen zu diesem Spiel angehört habe, bleibe ich bei meinem Urteil, dass dieses Spiel ein Meisterwerk ist.

    Ich verzichte darauf genauer auf die visuellen und auditiven Aspekte einzugehen, denn ich meine, dass selbst die größten Kritiker zugeben müssen, dass diese Punkte einfach atemberaubend umgesetzt worden sind.
    Ich muss aber auch nicht erwähnen, dass dadurch die Atmosphäre unglaublich immersiv ist und die Welt nicht unbedingt erzählen muss, um sich selbst zu erzählen.

    Vielmehr möchte ich hier auf die kontrovers diskutierte Story eingehen, welche meines Erachtens nach unglaublich gelungen ist und zu unrecht bei so vielen in Ungnade gefallen ist.
    Wobei man hier auch skeptisch sein sollte, dass noch am Erscheinungstag so viele Menschen negative Kommentare haben verfassen können, obwohl das zeitlich nicht möglich sein sollte und viele auch schlicht und ergreifend homophobe Gedanken haben, weswegen sie dieses Spiel negativ bewertet haben.
    Natürlich will ich hierbei NICHT alle über einen Kamm scheren nur, weil sie sich kritisch äußeren bzw. geäußert haben, denn Kunst muss nicht jedem gefallen und man kann anderer Meinung sein.

    Fangen wir doch mit Joels Tod an. Ja, es ist traurig aber ich finde es dennoch legitim, dass Joel unter diesen Umständen getötet worden ist. Wieso? Weil es es üblich ist für diese Stadt, dass man während der Patrouille fremde Menschen aufsammelt und das hat auch vier Jahre, ohne größere Zwischenfälle funktioniert (das kann man in den Patroullienbüchern nachlesen). Außerdem haben sich Joel und Tommy auf der Flucht vor einer Horde befunden und konnten sich gerade so retten, und als sie sich dann im Haus befunden haben, hat man dennoch merken können, dass sie eine gewisse Vorsicht haben wallten lassen, weil sie zum Beispiel nicht wollten, dass die fremde Gruppe die Sättel der Pferde abnimmt.
    Außerdem finde ich, dass wenn man Abby als Charakter eine Chance gibt, man feststellt, dass sie sich eben nicht stark von Ellie unterscheidet und das meine ich garnicht negativ.
    Vielmehr möchte man, dass sich die Beiden doch einfach Vertragen und diesem ewigen Trott der sinnlosen Gewalt entziehen, nachdem man beide Lebensgeschichten dieser Figuren kennengelernt hat. Und es ist einfach eine unglaubliche stärke dieses Spiels, dass es uns zwingt zu tun, was wir nicht wollen, indem wir aktiv gegen Ellie oder Abby kämpfen.
    Wir hassen es das zu tun, aber gerade dafür sollten wir das Spiel lieben, weil es solche eine Mitgenommenheit bei uns auslöst und wir unsere eigen moralischen Grauzonen anfangen zu hinterfragen. Gerade weil wir wissen wie viel Schmerz sich diese Figuren zugefügt haben und mit welcher Beiläufigkeit sie sich jeweils die liebsten Personen rauben. Wir wollen, dass es aufhört aber das tut es nicht, denn das spiel möchte ein Kommentar zur Gewalt sein, wie Neil Druckenmann selbst sagte.

    Aber um diese emotionale Achterbahn mitzufühlen zu können, muss man dem Spiel und besonders Abby eine Chance geben, denn es lohnt sich.
    Besonder, weil jeder Charakter gut geschrieben ist und auch wahnsinnig eindrucksvoll inszieniert worden ist, sodass man in jedem Gesichtausdruck lesen kann, was die Figur fühlt. In nur wenigen Spielen haben sich die Dialoge so echt und die Figuren so menschlich und nahbar angefühlt, dass man fast vergisst, dass dieses Figuren garnicht wirklich existieren.

    Ich muss ehrlich sagen, dass ich nichts wirklich zu bemängeln habe von dem was erzählt wird. Die einzigen Dinge, die mir negativ aufgefallen sind, waren zum einem die Spielmechanik aber auch die Quick-Time-Events, aber man hat dennoch eine gewisse Verbesserung - zum Vorgänger -gespürt, besonders bei den Umgebungsrätseln.

    Zuletzt möchte ich noch das Ende ansprechen, dass das Spiel in seiner Bedeutung zusammenfasst und den Schlussstrich der Charakterentwicklung darstellt. Nachdem Ellie ein zweites Mal getrieben von Rache verfolgt und sich wieder bis zu Abby vormeuchelt, findet der finale Kampf zwischen Ellie und Abby statt, in diesem Kampf verliert Ellie nicht nur zwei ihrer Finger, sondern kurz bevor sie Abby tötet erkennt sie, dass sie vergeben und dem Trott der Gewalt entkommen muss, damit sie nicht völlig konsumiert wird von der Rache. Dies wird symbolisch durch die Rückblende vermittelt, in der Ellie Joel für seine Taten vergibt. Aber man sollte nicht erwarten, dass dieses Ende ein fröhliches ist. Es ist nämlich bitter-süß besonders als man am Ende zum Farmhaus von Ellie Dina ( Ellies Freundin) gelangt, wo sie ein verlassenes Haus antrifft und als sie sich dann hinsetzt und versucht das Einzige zu tun was ihr von Joel geblieben ist - das Gitarrenspielen - kann sie selbst das nur noch teilweise, weil sie getrieben von Rache ihre Finger verloren hat.

    Es ist ein schönes Spiel aber eben eins für erwachsene und eins, dass dem Spieler moralisch alles abverlangt und deshalb so spielenswert.    … Expand

There's a few points in the game that seem like such cliche "bombshell" moments to try to force you to connect to a character who has barely had any "screen time". Where the story, characters, and core gameplay mechanics fail, the graphics are probably the best I've ever seen in any video game and are oftentimes breathtaking. The water effects and the landscape are amazing and immersive. If only this story based game had more going for it besides that.… Expand

The idea of character continuity is non-existent and there is no payoff to the story beyond the fact that it is told. The perspectives feel forced and there are so many cringe decisions the player is forced to make for the sake of attempting (and FAILING) to illicit a certain response that it honestly feel like sandpaper on your mind. Very few games make you hate want to kill your own character but this game takes this to a new level.

    For those reviews you see praising this "Stunning and brave" telling of a "true" and revealing story about human suffering are shallow at best, and must be taken with a pinch of salt.

    Just because a story is controversial doesn't make it a good story. But sure, play it for yourself if you want to grasp the depths of how deeply you can despise the character you are forced to play. You can expect to have forced empathy shoved down your throat with little to no effort placed on connecting the player to the character's struggles on an actual emotional level.
    It's almost as if the game expects you to sympathize out of virtue, which is **** let's be honest.
    With this lack of actual character development in mind, you can look forward to a story that leaves nothing gained for the player in terms of closure, beyond a ONCE AGAIN... FORCED... and so pathetically terribly at that, garbage excuse for some kinds of emotional forgiveness that is hollow and barren AT BEST.

    The game is just another absolutely terrible story that tries to vilify the characters you loved and make you question your emotional connection to them by highlighting their bad choices in the past and painting them from the perspective of others who suffered. While in theory this might be an edgy commentary on the human condition its NOT A GOOD BASIS FOR A SEQUEL TO A STORY which was based on making you connect with the characters you are now told to hate. It LITERALLY spits on your emotions... scummy move.

    So what does this all mean?

    You get a story that throws your emotional bond from game one into the trash, then spits on it.
    Then very forcefully shoves an attempted new emotional bond down your throat trying to get you to feel something for and understand the actions of the character that just became your MOST HATED character in the story. Then at the end, this she-devil of a character you still even after 10 hours of gameplay AS, hate with the very essence of your soul, gets away scott free and leaves the "world" worse off than before in the players mind. No payoff, nothing, thats it.... Replayability.... NONE, you hate the whole plot and are just glad this **** of **** storytelling is over.    … Expand

In TLOU2 no one is a saint and everyone has sinned in one way or another. No one is 100% bad, no one is 100% good. We are human beings and many times we allow ourselves to be driven by impulses and life leads us on different paths. The game is exquisite in all aspects, gameplay, storytelling, graphics, art, and direction. Ellie and Abby are as strong as Joel and very much like him. Joel is the bond that binds them to them for better or worse. I don't know, I don't want to spoil the story but if I say to cry several times with emotion, insult, I was amazed, I discovered much more than a game in TLOU2, it left me a lesson. I went from hating Abby for her actions at the beginning to understand her, I went from hating the WLF to understanding them, I went from hating the Seraphites to understanding them, I did not expect anything that would come after reaching the middle of the game. It was like a shock. I don't want to leave out the amazing gameplay and mechanics, the crater and the weapons. The combats begin calmly and as the game progresses it becomes a kind of TLOU / MGS / Resident Evil, takes the best of these Games and applies it in very satisfactory doses. Ellie and Abby are a killing machine like Joel, they are very experienced survivors. I think the surviving difficulty is very well balanced to feel the most adrenaline-filled experience. The AI ​​of the NPCs is outstanding, it was seen in games like FEAR 1, the NPCs are super aggressive and intelligent, they learn from your way of playing, they help each other by covering each other, they ambush you, they flank you, the impeccable truth. Exploration is key to obtaining resources and improvements that will later help us to be more effective in combat. his actions.     Nice visuals, good acting, great soundtrack, ok gameplay but a poor story. I enjoyed the game but the story was bad, ending was meaningless and I didn't get attached to the character really. But overall a decent game. Not great but not bad either.

    This game should not exist. Neil Suckman should be ashamed for lying to the true fans of TLOU. Using Joel to sell the game because they knew no one would buy it if they had just come out straight with Abby being part of the story.

    Truly is an amazing game. Everything from the music, gameplay, and yes story is simply masterful. Every little detail successfuly transports the player to the game and helps maintain immersion. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to be told a wonderful and deeply emotional story.

BUT the shocking story line where you make what feels like basically no progress for hours just makes the game uninteresting. Also forcing you to play as a character you hate for 10 hours is unbearable, they try and make you connect with ABBY so you understand why she kills Joel but they do it in a way which makes Joel look like a complete idiot by going into a room with unknown armed people and just outright say his name. this is a completely different character to the first game who as, weary extremely cautious and overall a great survivalist. They clearly don't listen to there audience if Neil Druckmann had even seen the PSX 2016 crowd reaction to Joel appearing then how in the world could he think the script he wrote would be accepted by most of the fans. what could have bee the best sequel to a game in the past decade was ruined by agenda pushing and forcing players to do things they don't want to do. I'll just forget this game and pretend it was never released and it ended in part one and Joel and Ellie just carried on surviving.… Expand

Prefacing this with the fact that I absolutely adore the first game, I completed this one and I don't care at all for any of the LGBTQ controversy about the game, i fully support the LGBTQ community even though I am not a member. Furthermore, apart from one point it has nothing to actually do with the story, and even at that one point the nature of the conflict itself isn't the point, it just creates a conflict that is a vessel for the main story.

    The soundtrack is good but it's barely heard throughout. The graphics are blooming phenomenal. These are the only two positives for the game. The gameplay is better than the first but not by a large margin, and even seven years ago it wasn't a high-point. Furthermore, the gameplay doesn't build to a satisfying crescendo in any way, the fights and stealth are incredibly samey and it gets boring after a while. Never mind that a lot of the more "unique" fights come down to glorified QTE's that are also very samey.

    The gameplay is especially tedious when you're forced to play as a character you will likely despise for half of the game. Right after dropping a cliffhanger in a climactic confrontation in the story you will be transported back three days to re-do the time from another characters perspective. It wrecks the build up and pacing of the first half, which was just okay to begin with. Then, the disconnect between how you feel and how you're forced to act with this character takes you completely out of the game and makes getting through this half of the game a thoroughly unenjoyable slog. This is a horror game, it's hard to be horrified when you're rooting for the player character to die, there is no tension and there are no stakes. It's laughable how off-tone it is. This is half the game, and not just that it is subjectively the better half in terms of cool set piece and zombie battles, but it's bland, boring and frankly infuriatingly frustrating when played with this character.

    It isn't like the game doesn't attempt to make you relate to this character, it does, it just fails spectacularly. It tries to draw parallels with Ellie through inception-like flashbacks in flashbacks that mirror her growth and her experiences to make you feel that they've gone through a lot of the same stuff. Really though, it's just heavy handed and cheap, piggybacking off your relationship with Ellie to try and make a likeable character, or even a sympathetic character, because she's so similar, except she just completely isn't. They then give this character their own young child to look after just so it mirrors Ellie and Joels relationship, it's so contrived and plot convenient that this one person gets a relationship like that too. Another point, the actions of characters in the first one were believable, they acted how you expect them to given their character in any situation. In this one they act however they need to to advance the plot. The plot mostly being sadistic pornography for people who like suffering, because that seems to be the only thing they can depict well.

    I'm not really sure if there is a deeper message to the game because the only ones I can see aren't particularly deep or thought provoking. Revenge begets revenge, the people around you also face the consequences of your actions, the world is an unforgiving place, other people are people too so you should try to understand them. None of these are great messages, for the first two bad people get away with doing bad things all around the world all the time even today, they especially do in an apocalypse, hell literally THE BAD GUY in this game does. The second is so obvious it's not worth arguing. If one needs to be told the last they might actually be a psychopath, but this game takes it too far in trying to forgive literal torture and brutal murder.

    If there isn't a point and it's all just about showing bleak reality then F me is it a terrible thing to do, and it's even way over the top for an apocalypse. You, among other things, are forced to kill dogs, watch beloved characters get maimed or killed indiscriminately, kill named characters repeatedly because they attack you and are then made to feel bad about it later, kill a late stage pregnant woman (She literally watches you fight and kill a bigger, stronger male whose job it is to murder things, then attacks you while like eight months pregnant. It's unbelievably grotesque and stupid, especially when it again adds nothing to the plot other than to cheaply make Ellie look evil). Also that pregnant lady goes out on patrol, gets in gunfights, climbs and ropes and ninjas about. it's insane that anyone thought this was believable.

    The game spits on the corpse of the first, having you strangle Ellie as the other character and also literally spitting on Joels mutilated corpse right at the start, because despite marketing materials, Joel dies at the start. The trailers lie. There are many more issues, watch playthroughs. Worse than GoT Season 8.    … Expand

Graphics good ,gameplay good, story really bad. Delivery of the story and pacing is even worse, especially at the second part of the game.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'll get the negatives out of the way. The game was repetitive. You find yourself surrounded by infected and you die. You try again. You die. The game dumbs down the AI and you win. You move on. Then you find yourself in the same situation. Rinse, repeat, rinse repeat. It got pretty boring.

    The game really tries to force you to make quick bonds with the new characters. And I didn't just click with them. I didn't like Dina, I found her annoying and didn't really care for her. Jesse though. He was amazing. Really wished he stayed around for the possible trilogy they were hinting at the end (I'll talk about that in a bit).

    Some aspects of the story had feelings of cut-and-paste from a fanfiction post. Like... It felt a 13 year old was trying to imitate 50 Shades. And THAT scene... Very unnecessary and didn't understand why they felt it had to be included.

    But now for the good stuff:

    I liked how very unsafe all the characters were. Everyone was at risk of being axed from the game. Why is everyone surprised that Joel died? I was totally expecting it to happen. Joel can't be around for very long in the game. It makes some sense to me.

    The graphics were obviously amazingly beautiful. It's Naughty Dog. They're good in that department.

    Some of the puzzles were a bit confusing but I liked how much detail they put even into rooms that were hardly involved with the story.

    I really liked the idea of playing Abby. Seeing everything from her perspective was very eye-opening. Beforehand you were rooting for Ellie and hoped she got her revenge. But then ND forces you into Abby's shoes and to experience her side of that fateful day in the hospital. And her side of events in Seattle. I was like damn. I don't know who to side with. And I know Naughty Dog were aiming for that angle. I think they did that perfectly for me anyway.

    The game left you wanting more. When you stopped to play so you can grab some dinner or run errands, LoU2 was the one thing constantly on my mind. I had to play it whenever I could. Sometimes for hours well into the night.

    The ending, however, made no sense whatsoever. I mean... Why did Ellie and Dina decide to live in a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere? And why did Ellie spare Abby when she wanted her dead? Tried drowning her and then goes nah mate just go. So many plotholes that I'm sure were intently put there so we're screaming for The Last of Us Part 3.

    I agree with a friend of mine who sai that Naughty Dog wrote it how they wanted it and they weren't afraid to really push buttons with the story. They didn't mind killing off main characters and shoving new ones in. They unapologetically made the game their way, no matter how unpopular it may have been.

    The game wasn't so bad that it deserves a review bomb on Metacritic but it wasn't great either. It was an okay game. I'm glad I played it and waited when I did.    … Expand
