    My main problem with this game stems from Abby. Is Abby justified in killing Joel? Absolutely, he killed her dad, she is 100% justified in killing him I have no problems with that. What Naughty Dog fails to grasp is that even though i fully understand and agree with her character motivation here I still don't f***ing like Abby, and i have no logical reason to because she just killed our main protagonist from the last game. You guys spent an entire game building up Joel's character and making us care about him, we played the game as if we WERE him. But now? We're expected to sympathize with his killer? Not even that, we're expected to LIKE his killer, to root for her in same vain we did Joel. You literally control Abby in a chase/fight sequence against Ellie where you beat the hell out of her. Then at the end of the game when you're finally getting some payback the game decides Ellie is a bigger person or something and just lets this **** (who by this point has killed several/maimed several of Ellie's friends) just hop in a boat and leave. Sorry but nah. Cannot get behind this character and nothing in this story makes me want to.

    The game really wants to push the message that 'Revenge is bad'. Ellie loses pretty much everything in the end and can be seen walking off in the distance alone, the game WANTS us to think this is just the consequences to her actions but all it really feels like is more of a narrative contrivance. We spent this ENTIRE game on a bloodthirsty quest for vengeance to honor Joel's memory and take down his killer, only to be thrown through a loop in end when Ellie suddenly decides she's over it and let's Abby go? After she moments ago bit off two of Ellie's fingers?? And it feels like the game expects us to cheer at this revelation like Ellie has somehow overcome some ethical hurdle in sparing Abby's life? The narrative choices in this story just seem so out of touch with everything in the previous game and even the DLC that it's almost jarring. Nothing we know about Ellie would lead us to believe that she would spare Abby in the final encounter, but since Ellie can't be allowed to achieve her goal of this game or else the revenge message doesn't work, we now have to just stop and let her go in the climax of the final fight. Expert writing.

    The first few hours are amazing then once you get to the city it all just goes down hill quick. And I wanted to love this game so much, 7 years of waiting and they let you down. Not even a dlc could fix there mistakes.

    When you shoehorn in themes nobody wants, it sours the whole game. Yeah, mechanics were good enough, it looked great, no real game breaking bugs, but its not relatable, and forces in a topic that has no value other than to appease the target group. I can't say I enjoyed it, sorry.

    Beautiful visuals that hide a very weak and cheap plot. It reminds me of a cheap sitcom. Lots of holes in the story, after the first 3 hours you don't care about anything and anyone's journey anymore. Also lots of gameplay problems with the movements and fighting system.

After almost six years of waiting and waiting for a stronger or a similar game to its predecessor, we got The Last of Us Part 2, which is pretty fragile and weak compared to Part 1.
    The first installment of the game was really entertaining and the story was solid and intriguing. The characters were strongly built and they made the players connected to them emotionally. On the contrary, This game story is solely built on the average revenge storyline. The characters are weakly built on feminism and sex. For that every moment they make a sexual reference.There is a pretty clear propaganda for the far leftists, LGBT and feminists , which can be sensed throughout the gameplay.    … Expand

    I am a big fan of Naughty Dog and I have always admired their attention to details, technical marvels, and their hand-crafted relationships and brilliant storytelling.

    Personally, I believe that Last of Us I was an incredible game not because of the great gameplay nor the emotional music and so on ... but because of its astonishing story, narrative and characters.     Essentially the story is what made the player feel that the game is fun and interesting. However, all of that is nowhere to be found in the last of us part II except for a few instances, and so what is left is a game that is frustrating and unappealing. A game that makes the player feel bad for playing it. as the result the game becomes unplayable especially in the second half of the game!

    The graphics and gameplay are great and a step up from the previous game, but again I believe that the story is what made the first game incredible and it is same reason why this sequel sucks. I believe The story is ruined because of the choices the devs took but most importantly the execution of these choices!    … Expand

    The 1st game was a bottle of good whiskey! The 2nd is a glass of dirty water when you have not thirst. Keep this leftist/SJW narrative away from the games and story. This game seems-not in a cool way-the last season of Game of Thrones. How far can you go for screwing up a story/franchise? The characters and the game became SO TASTELESS or with a bad taste!

    I’m gutted with what Naughty Dog have put out here. We have been victims of false advertising and pure lies. From the trailers we were shown, we were expecting a game about Joel and Ellie.     The only good thing about this game is the gameplay and graphics. The level of detail that has gone into this is brilliant, at times I thought I was looking at real humans. The world of the last of us is great, but in a story driven franchise, when it’s not up to par, it will drag everything down with it. The ending of this game will leave you feeling angry and upset, there is nothing satisfying about it and nothing gets cleared up. It appears Naughty Dog have tried to do something different with this game, but it doesn’t work and it’s a mess. It feels like a big political statement and a message about revenge is bad being shoved in our faces.

    In my honest opinion I had to set the difficulty to very easy after the first couple of hours into this game just to get through it, it wasn’t a good experience at all. We was told by Neil Druckmann himself that the Last of Us is about Joel and Ellie, this game isn’t. I bought it as I had to play it as I consider the first game the best I’ve ever played. However, after this I will not be purchasing anything Naughty Dog put out in the future. Save yourself £60 and don’t buy it.    … Expand

    The story of this game has been made to forcefully divert itself from the natural development of the first chapter in a very violent purposeless manner. I do understand that the authors have clearly stated how this game is about hate and revenge. However if you put the time and attention in the game, you can clearly see that the game is made over misplaced moral degeneration and cutting the main characters in the most disrespectful way imaginable.

    Joel in the Last of Us was and still one of the most bad ass character in the history of gaming. He was not prefect with only the instinct of survival as his only drive to keep going in the ugly world he lives in. But Ellie existence in his life has opened the door to the player to explore the depth of his character. Showing how realistic and justified his action were to be.

    Joel saves Abby, an abnormally masculine and bad looking female with every a treat that a normal human being would despise, and have the highest level of moral degeneration. When she find out who he is, she kills him out of revenge in the most unmemorable way you can image. The writer does not let him die a heroic death, but on floor of no where location that doesn't have any further connection to the story. To add salt to the injury, a character that resemble Neil Drunkman spit on Joel dead body as a sign of disrespect to the figure that Joel represent.

    the entirety of the game play is to follow Ellie and Abby journey to meet and fight to death, but that doesn't happen. The player will go through 25 to 30 hours of a marathon of revenge, that doesn't take place. Putting the player in a position to question the purpose of making such a pointless story.

    To be fair, the flash back between Ellie, Joel and Tommy are beautiful. But that anger me more, how can you make such a good flash backs, yet constructing such a horrible current story that lack every sense of depth.

    this part of the review will be very personal opinion, but it has to be out there for you to read. the political influence in this game is disgustingly unbearable. If the plot of the story is written buy the same writer of the original Last of Us, then I wouldn't say that.

    Even as an Iraqi middle eastern man, it bugs me why would an Alpha male Texan Character like Joel meet his end like this.

    MY final massage to Naughty Dog is this; how can you expect players to appreciate and respect your work, when you disrespected and forsaken your own legacy.

    Fighting : 8 / 10 ( smooth, it will better if you have more non-kill option like MGSV if you want to tell revenge is bad )

    ( There is many other ways to "Kill Joel", many ways to re-arrange the memory ordering in the game, and many ways to tell the story for Abby so that we can get more interesting on her )

    For the people who love Joel, what will be the feeling that they need to control Abby after Abby kill her like that in the very beginning and Joel is just act like an idiot ( unlike he is much more careful in the last of us 1 ), I think the only feeling is disgusting.

    It can be better if they include Abby in the fake trailer.
    It can be a good game if it is a separate story for Abby.
    It can also be better if the story just starting with Abby and her story, then she find Joel is the one who kill her father.

    And if the directer want to ask question,
    Just let me choose the answer in the ending of the game, but not only showing the animation.

    In conclusion, it can be a Great Game for EVERYONE but they just want to make a Game for SOME PEOPLE only, what a shame. Please don't call it "The Last of us Part II"    … Expand

    so the obvious elephant in the room is joels death its fine to kill a main character its happened in alot of fiction but the way they did it i would call tasteless the first torture him with a golf club but not kill him and this happens after joel saves abby's life then when ellie shows up abby kills joel and Manny walks up and spits on his corpse and insults him it feels like a slap in the face to fans cause it wouldve been fine to kill joel and he didnt even need to have a heroes death but the way they went about it wasnt right either the spit on him and then later on expect you to play as abby and then even later they expect you to beat up ellie as abby its just not right. on a side not abby isnt trans i know she looks like it and i kinda thought at first she was but shes actually just a buff woman as confirmed by the director and others so thw murder of joel wasnt done for some lgbtq agenda.

    the actual trans character lev or his original name lily was handled very well in my opinion they brought attention to it but only for a minute just like how they handled ellies lesbian relationship with riley it just to give background detail and not to encompass there entire character and i quite liked lev.

    another thing its very uncomfortable having ellie have sex with dina yes nothing is shown and it cuts to afterwords and this has nothing to do with lesbians it has to do with the fact that we watched her grow up and it just feels uncomfortable to see that its like watching your own daughter have sex you wouldnt wanna do that there were better ways to handle that and once again i wanna point out its not cause there lesbians i actually like ellie and dinas relationship.

    also the game trys to make you feel for abby but constantly has her be a peice of **** as well and its annoying like joel saves her she kills joel out of revenge, owen is dating and has mel pregnant so she **** owen so the game knowing you would think shes ****ty immediately trys to show her feeling guilty for lev and his sister to try to make her seem like a good person cause she cares the she lies at nora to the hospital saying owen is the one losing his arm not to mention the obvious she cost all of her friends lives because of her ****ty revenge on joel which could have the same said for ellie as well though not every body dies obviously.


    so at the end the game has you fight abby as ellie which why would you wanna fight the girl that you saved in the first game? Then you proceed to beat the **** out of her as abby, then she lets ellie live and leave time passes then ellie hears about abby in cali then it shifts to abby in cali for a short bit there then back to ellie in cali kill random people find abby fight abby and then see a flash back of joel just sitting on a porch no words nothing then ellie stops trying to kill her and lets her leave the whole cali section feels too long and un needed that whole thing couldve happened in Seattle and been fine.

    I have played this game start to finish and i have to say this is the worst storywriting i have seen in a long time.Narrative and how its constructed throughout the gameplay is just a straight downgrade into a dumpsterfire if you compare with the first game.A beautiful story like TLOU does not deserve a badly constructed mediocre sequel like this.

    The game looks beautiful, plays pretty well but it’s more boring than watching paint dry. I turned it off and I started playing MLB 20 instead. Setting 65 bucks on fire would have been less of a waste of money.

Even the ending didn't make me love the game, not 1 bit. i had high hopes for this game, but i got disappointed. like Kratos said "Keep your expectations low , and you'll never be disappointed."

    Gameplay- About the same. Moving things around to get from place to place replaced with jump. Story- Pretty much uprooted the first game, put into a fire pit, and burned. The characters are turned 180 degrees and pretty much unnoticeable. Post apocalyptic doesn't mean anything in this game. It has gone from a game of survival in which you need to survive with wits into a revenge plot that makes characters unlikable to the point of setting down your controller and returning the game.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First off, I'd like to say that if anyone from the art/animation/music/gameplay departments happens to see this, you guys did an amazing job and I'm sorry your talents had to be wasted on a game with such **** storytelling.

    I tried to like this game...I really, truly did. The first one was in my top 10 favorite games ever, so when the leaks for this came out I avoided them like the plague so I could judge the game myself on release. What an utter mistake that was. To be fair, the entire game isn't bad, just the vast majority of it, but the good parts give you a sense of what it could have been, and that makes it hurt twice as bad. I really enjoyed the game for the first hour or so, but then it all went to absolute **** from that scene (you know the one) onwards. I actually had to stop and take a day long break after I reached it. I know some people are dubbing the game as "Angry Lesbian Seeks Revenge", but I don't care that the game is focused around Ellie or that she **** girls. All that was in the first game anyway.

    *SPOILERS FROM HERE ON*

    What's really pissing me off is that not only does Joel - a character the fans know and love - die (Which I could almost forgive), but he dies in what feels like the first tenth of the **** game, in the most undignified way possible, and to some random chick we've never met or heard of before, who's life Joel had JUST saved like 30 seconds beforehand, and who is impossibly jacked for no goddamn reason considering we're in a post-apocalyptic world where food shortages and rationing are commonplace. Seriously, even in modern day with unlimited funds, a woman would need to maintain some crazy daily calorie intake for a physique like that, with a large majority being protein. And then as if that wasn't enough, to add insult to injury, they actually have the audacity to make you play as her afterwards as the protagonist of her own 10 hr+ side story! Not only that, but she's the least likeable protagonist ever, and the entire time i just wanted to go back to see what was going on with Ellie. Letting her die repeatedly in her segments was the most fun I had with this game.

    The only reason even I retained interest in the game long enough to finish it completely was because I couldn't wait to see Ellie slaughter ever last person who was in that room at the beginning, especially Abby, but ND couldn't even do that right! I nearly threw my PS4 out the window when Ellie spared her as if she didn't just spend the entirety of the game offing generic goons with no issues. I get that ND is trying to shove the "rEVenGe BaD" message down our throats, but it just comes off as hollow and disingenuine because Abby is able to get her revenge and walk away scott free, but Ellie loses everything and doesn't get **** to show for it. Anyway, I'm done. I just needed to get that out.

    Like I said, there are good things about this game of course, as with every game, but when the credits rolled I let out a big disappointed sigh and uninstalled it. if you enjoyed it, good for you, I'm glad. Most people who dislike it seem to want others to hate it just as much, but the fact is I really wanted to like it, and really tried to, but just can't bring myself to.    … Expand

    I hate giving this game a bad review I hate it so much cause the first game is one of my favorite if not my most favorite game of all time.

    The game looks wonderful, the gameplay isnt much different other than a few small things added like a new jumping mechanic and some stuff you can do with a rope, the voice acting is still astounding as is any cinematic game put out by Naughty Dog. There are some new enemy types and instead of fireflies and cannibals you have WLF (wolves) and cultist. So the the only real thing that has been improved on is the graphics.

    Now the story and the characters...that's a complete other matter, and I will say first of Joel dies am I happy about it, no. Did I expect it, yes. The main issue I have with is the way the story is presented to you makes absolutely no sense, and characters that are one note and easily forgettable. The daughter, Abby, of the doctor in the first game goes after joel which waaaaay across the country so it like looking for a very specific needle in a Grand Canyon full of needles, but she finds him actually he falls into her lap saving her life. Then after that Joel and Tommy throw complete caution to the wind and tell them their names and where they are staying, which is completely out of character for both of them to just trust people that they have met. If you are going to kill off Joel at least have it make sense. After a short romp with Ellie as she goes throw the list of people that were there taking them out, you switch over to Abby, and play with her and what she was doing during this time that Ellie was killing her friends. The thing is though at this point in the game you have so much hate for Abby that this pointless bit trying to get you to sympathize with her just doesnt work. By the point I literally dont care and only want her dead. I dont care about her, her friends or the dogs at all. But they make you play as her, beat the hell out of Ellie, bite her fingers off and damn near kill Ellie's girlfriend. They try even more to get you to sympathize with her by making her take on kind of a "Joel" role when she is taking care of this kid turning against her own people doing so, but I just couldnt care less about her or her struggles. And by the end she and the kid are left for dead hanging from poles, but Ellie finds them, cuts them down and proceeds to have one last fight with Abby in which she wins but right before she is about to deal the killing blow she stops........becaaaaause reasons? So the cycle will stop? Whatever. I wanted this game solely for the story, not the graphics not the gameplay, the voice acting helps but wasnt the most important. The story! And when you deliver one that is completely nonsensical as this, someone dropped the ball somewhere Dr. Uckmann. I just cant recommend this game to anyone who fell in love with story and the characters of the original.

    Hope the creators see these reviews and take note. It's like Neil is having a threesome with us and the critics, but all he wants to do is fondle the critics with his progressive values, so we're just left to toss ourselves off. I've seen the Halo franchise get butchered in recent years but not nearly as badly as this.

    Товарищи, это игра про пост-апокалипсис. Первая часть брала своими психологическими и философскими аспектами. Мир который сошел с ума, где потрепанный окружающей средой Джоэль находит антидепрессант в виде Элли которая заменяет ей дочь. Тут нет места привычным нам удобствам, тут правят законы социал-дарвинизма где «выживают сильнейшие». И объясните пожалуйста, каким боком, в этом мире, появляются лесби страсти, милость и прочие нелогичности???
    Концовка-мерзость. Убить столько людей, а в итоге оставить в живых главную тварь. Походу Дракман видит все сквозь призму феминизма.

After a seven year wait this is what naughty dog gives it’s devoted players, a game that essentially beats every aspect of what everyone loved about the original to a bloody pulp, and then proceeds to spit on it. However the graphics, landscapes and generally game design are very good, I just wish they weren’t wasting on such a piece of awful storytelling. To wrap this up, the game upon finishing left an awful taste in my mouth, very similar to the feeling I had while watching films such as alien 3 and terminator dark fate. Then again I think even that would be giving it to much credit.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game was a disappointment based on the poor story telling associated with it. There are several moments in the story that simply do not pass the common sense test of human interaction.

    1. When Joel is killed his death is because he told a stranger his name after helping them. This is the same Joel who knew that he was a wanted man based on the actions he took in the hospital in the previous game. Our paranoid Joel was now either foolish or naive something not fitting with all his actions up to that point. This stranger(Abby) then killed him as she was hunting him. 2. Playing as Abby: Shortly after Joel meets his untimely end you play a stretch as her which doesn’t make much sense, you don’t want to identify with her you just want to see her dead because she destroyed a character that we got to see shattered just to be built up again. 3. The ending: Ellie goes on a quest to avenge Joel and at the end when it’s time to kill Abby and avenge the man who meant so much to you, ya just stop and let her leave. The person who took so much from you, that you killed so many just to get a shot at her now you let walk free. Particularly when you are drowning her, with all that adrenaline pumping through her veins you mean to tell me that despite every chemical in her body telling her to kill that somehow she had a moment of altruistic clarity. The crackhead at my local gas station knows that just doesn’t add up.    … Expand

The sequel had a ton of potential to be great but it's like ND pushed aside the infestation filled narratives of the game and forced a revenge plot on the gamers that most people find dull and filled with plot holes. Obviously the graphics and other technical stuff was a vast improvement on the original but of course it came out years after the original, problem is, TLOU1 was a story-driven masterpiece of a game and the gameplay was secondary for people who experienced it, it was the story that has driven most of us to continue and see what will transpire next for Joel and Ellie, and then having the story fall flat on the 2nd game was for sure a massive disappointment for the people that has been waiting for the next chapter from the 1st game's main protagonists. i hope this serves as a lesson to ND, if you want to try new ideas on gaming, make it on a new game and don't force it on an already established title.     game shoves an annoying "empowered woman" agenda down your throat the entire time. Like we get it. You're progressive naughty dog. Cool graphics are the only saving grace for this snore fest. Imagine a movie, but you have to watch them walking everywhere in between scenes and listen to the small talk.

    this game had so much potential but naughty dog decided to allow an SJW to write the script and it's blatantly obvious, and the developers were just lazy, improving on nothing but graphics.

I wanted to love this game, and I wanted it to be even better then the original. There are plenty of people who are upset about Ellie being LGBT+ and other stupid complaints, but I'm not here to complain about that. I open the game expecting to be in love with the characters and story, just like the original, but not only did I not even get out of the first cutscene without the game glitching out and soft locking, the combat tutorials were just plain bad, with the introduction of dodging and the combat nerf being annoying mechanics for both me, who played the original recently enough to be familiar with the gameplay, but for my brother who hasn't played it in years. The dodge mechanic just flat out sucks, it doesn't work often, makes combat extremely repetitive, and with the combat speed of all the zombies in the game, you can never not use it for melee fights. The writing is something I'd expect from a 12 year old girl who just got off a binge of those awful Netflix movies, the 365 Days type, where the writing is bad, but it's "mature" enough to make them feel older then they are. The game opens with about 20 minutes of teen drama and sex, something straight out of high school movies, and then the first part closes out with Joel being killed by some girl that is just flat out annoying, in a way that makes no sense for his character, and very early. It makes the plot feel rushed and it genuinely ruins the game from the start. The game doesn't get better from here. This honestly plays out like a bad fan fiction, and the worst part is I know NaughtyDog won't address it, remake it, or make a better third game to fix this dumpster fire of a sequel. So now what I and many others consider one of the best games in video game history, it essentially ruins the original game and the entire franchise as it is now. I'm honestly disappointed in the studio for this massive oversight on garbage writing.… Expand

I have to say after hearing about the spoilers, I decided not to buy the game and watched the whole game on stream. So i can't say much about how the game plays. It was pretty standard naughty dog game-play. Not great, not bad. The graphics are probably one of the best for PS4. Also the soundtrack seems great again.

    But that all means nothing if the Story cant support the rest of the game.
    What it all comes down to, is that fans of the first game got a kick in the balls. Or to be more literal, a golf club to the face. For me it was long long before the leaks clear, that Joel would die. The fact that Joel would die isn't even the matter. The Problem is how he dies.
    The biggest part of why the first game was so great, is the character progression between Ellie and Joel. As close as those two persons became in the end, as attached we became as players to these characters. So for one of these characters to die, there has to be meaning behind this death.
    Joel dies such a meaningless death only to set Ellie on a revenge mission which doesn't even end with any satisfactory conclusion.
    Why not let Joel life until the end, to sacrifice himself to help Ellie survive? That would be a fine conclusion to both games. Instead they make Joel look like an Idiot and just killed him off.

    Man what happened... These must be new writers. Story was awful with no emphasis on character development. Extremely contrived. At least the graphics were great too bad the AI is still stupid.

Ofc it has to be the continuation of the first game, however, to continue the story with weird new story, you're exactly trying to be so-out-of-box ultimately leading to some of the fanbase not feeling attached to the story at all. Which it is. From the ending of the remastered version, ND have so many opportunities to continue the game with various plot and tweaks, this is a stale one. Don't agree with me? Ask Pewdipie.

    Expected the same gameplay, it was fun. But do I enjoy it? Probably no. To give 10/10 or even 8/10 is a mere exaggeration tbh. I dont understand where does the critics come from. Guess im better than them    … Expand

    Takes the character development from the first game we all love and sets it on fire while almost torturing Ellie repeatedly, coupled with an unfilfilling ending leaves a bad taste in players mouths.

    Utterly depressing. It’s like woke revenge despair porn for western culture. If you play this it not only depresses you but also ruins the first game as well. Do yourself a favour and don’t touch this with a barge pole if you want to still have fond memories of the first game.

The main story is about revenge and hatred and having us play Ellie and forced (us as the players) to kill multiple people without a second thought throughout the game just to let Abbie live just takes away the entire point of the story.     good graphics but no fun... forced to play one badly written story. Moral stories should allow choice... this preaches at you like you're in a lecture. Wanted to love it... but can't. Tried to be generous by giving 2 points for the beautiful graphics

    I don't really like the maps as well as there are so many places that looks 90% the same or have to revisit again and again.
    The story is just a nightmare. I simply would not want play as Micah to learn his background( and don't get to kill Micah either) after Arthur is dead in RDR2 and half of this game is exactly about that. Forced and disgusting cutscene are just icing on the damn cake.    … Expand

    For me this game never happened, I still can't believe they could ruin the history we used to love this much And I am getting really sick of people defending this joke of a game just because they are inclusive well I considere myself an ally to transexual people and I'm pansexual myself so believe that is not the issue here.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
