    Wow,. All I can say is that I am surprised at how utterly bad this second half of this game is- first half is decent,but very clunky and not really the greatest story,. But I feel like the story completely ruins this entire franchise in the second half,.. personally I am shocked that critics gave this the score they did, it only proves they have to be in naughty dogs pocket somehow.     If you haven’t purchased yet, save your money. I wish I would have listened to all the reviews from users prior to wasting my money.

    User ratings are painfully accurate, critics ratings prove they are fake. Most gave this game a 10 out of 10,. Which couldn’t be further from fact.

    This game Fully ruins its franchise and characters in one fail swoop, making it one of the dumbest decisions I’ve seen in a game. I’m surprised they slapped the fans in the face with such a disrespect to the first game. This is not a game to purchase if you enjoyed the first Tlou

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Soy un fan acérrimo de The Last of Us, posiblemente quedé enamorado de la primera parte, creó una relación Joel-Ellie que se desarrollaba al mismo tempo que el videojuego, unos personajes complejos y que era inevitable cogerles cariño.
    Mi crítica no tiene nada que ver con la ideología metida en el juego, desde el dlc “left behind“ se sabía que Ellie era homosexual y no importaba para nada, es más en este juego la relación con Dina podría haber sido una relación como la que mencionaba anteriormente que se va desarrollando según lo hacen los acontecimientos del juego y chapó.
    Pero no, naughty dog añade una personaje que independientemente de lo que represente esta metida con calzador.... Pero eso no es lo peor, para mi ha sido una puñalada en el corazón el final que le han dado a Joel, se lo han cargado sin más, merecía un final digno, era una muerte que se presuponía pero que debió hacerse con amor y delicadeza hacia un personaje increíble y que se ganó a miles de fan por lo humano que era.
    Podría hablar de cosas buenas que tiene el juego pero también de muchas malas para compensarlas.
    Como punto final he de decir que este juego para mi marca un antes y después con el que era mi estudio favorito, seré prudente con cada título que hagan a partir de ahora.    … Expand

They managed to **** all over the original game within the first two hours, then continue to smear their **** all the way to the end.     the game play and the graphics are amazing for me but the god dam story come the frick on why !!!! it was so good at the first part why would they destroy it with this agenda why i don't get it to make 1 million person happy you lost 10 million for that ....

    Such a beautiful looking game, production wise it's amazing, it's obvious that people really worked hard for it. But why they allowed such story writing to pass through to release is beyond me. Subverting expectations is the new meta it seems, it's so edgy and pretentious it makes me want to puke.

    Terrible story. Sorry to see the developer ruin one of their best franchises. The only thing that people love about the first game was the story, and here they missed it big time. So the result is a bad game that you may still play but won't enjoy it nor that you will ever remember the story or characters. Nevertheless amazing graphics that you’ll appreciate.

    The first game was universally praised for many reasons but I think, what made it truly great was the evolving relationship between Joel and Ellie. In part 2 that dynamic is immediately thrown to the side in favor of new characters, which I do not enjoy at all. Most if not all the new characters I find to be bland or awkward. The established characters, although they may have the same name, their personalities seem to be very different from the first game. To the point that some of the decisions that the characters take are baffling to me, so much so that I ended up despising a character that I previously loved. The ending is just bad. It makes everything that you did leading up to it utterly useless.

    I do not think this game was made for fans of the previous one. This would probably be better received by players if it was a completely new game but since it is a sequel it should be compared to the original. Part 2 falls short in every single aspect with the exception of graphics and gameplay but as I have stated previously, tlou2 is mostly about the story, and comes woefully short compared to the first.

    tldr: if you want to be depressed or you are a sadist, play this game.    … Expand

    This game is so laughably bad, and an insult to any fan of the 1st one. I played through the game just hoping it would get better, but it only gets worse. I suggest not getting the game if you’re a fan of the first one.

    Great graphics mediocre game-play thats about it seriously disappointed 7 years and we get this horrible awful story. was such a huge fan of the first one just really disappointing, hate you sjw's and alphabet people you just have to destroy everything

    Beyond disappointed. Completely derailed from what was built on in the first game. This story is similar to the SJW Netflix shows made for teens. Wish I could get a refund honesty.

    The “sneak up until you can press triangle to kill them” gamelay got boring in MGS2. This is repetitive drivel wrapped in an episode of One Tree Hill. Avoid.

    TLOU was a great walking simulator with an incredible story, the gameplay was meh but the story made up for any shortcomings. Now that I’ve experienced TLOU2 from start to finish I can firmly say screw this whole studio. Visually it looks amazing but the gameplay hasn’t evolved enough and the writing is hilariously bad.     Awful story which aims to raise idea of strong and independent women. Only good thing about the game is graphics, animations and level design. Story, dialogs are total c**p. I registered here only to give this negative review, never in my life gave low scores but this one really takes cake.

    The gameplay and graphics are very good, unfortunately that doesn't really matter because the story and the way the characters behave just doesn't make any sence and it pretty much ruins the overall experience. Saw the leaks, decided to buy the game anyway hoping it wouldn't be as bad as everyone said and ended up regretting wasting my money. Dissapointed but not surprised.

    All I can say is... Thanks for ruining another franchise with lazy and bad writing. I've read YouTube comments that came up with a better story than a whole team of writers... What's even worse is how they treat some of the beloved characters. And the ending is probably one of the worst endings I had to endure in a long while. No payoff, no reward no nothing. But it's nothing special because we've come to expect such graphics in AAA titles for years now. If only the story was as good as the graphics... What's also quite upsetting is how the "critics", aka the ass kissers, give it raving reviews, while the actual fans aren't too fond of the game so far. Just look at Pewdiepie's reaction to the first pivotal moment in the game. That tells you all you need to know.

    This sequel ruins the original masterpiece.Part 2 still got great graphics and some intense sequences but the story is horrible and poorly written.This game clearly doesn't have magic that part 1 had and it didn't rise to its expectation

False advertising to make you believe that joel is still alive, they tricked us making joel saying in the trailer a quote that he never says in the game, when in reality it was Jesse who was talking to Ellie, so they just changed the whole scene.

    The story makes nosense comparing to the first one, dialogues and story was made to promote the lgbt community nothing more, so obvious and so forced.
    Killing joel in the most brutal and disgracing way, then spitting on him, why? It was so graphic that It makes you feel sick.
    They tourned Joel and Tommy into amateurs who would give their location and real names to a bunch of strangers.
    Having to play as joel's killer to make you feel "sympathy" for her and turning Ellie and Joel info the villains, in top of that we have a meaneless ending with Ellie sparing Abby and being left Alone by Dina.
    So basicly this game was just made to mess with your psyche and your mental health destroying all what we knew from the dynamic between Ellie and joel to just promoting their own believes and ideals with their agenda in the most narcissistic way.    … Expand

    But they completely ruined the franchise with this one. And don't get me wrong, the gameplay is fine (pretty much the same as the first game with a little more gimmicks) , and the graphics are great. But the last of us wasn't and never will be a fun game because of its gameplay, it's about the beautiful story that leads you through interesting plots and the interesting characters you meet along the way. But sadly this game does not have that. The story does not make sense, the characters are boring, the game is more like a pro LGBT community AD. Dont get me wrong. Whatever rows your boat, but I don't need to see two "men" literally having sex in a zombie game. And the best part is that Joel, the guy who brutally murdered atleast 200 humans and zombies in the first game, Dies within the first hour because the devs thought it was necessary to kill the main character in a humiliating way, even though you spent 15 hours playing him in the first game to build a story that was so boring and trash, to the point of asking myself why I 'm even playing this game...     Graphics are great, the whole feels alive.
    Gameplay hasn't change since the first one and is kinda jenky at parts
    A couple bugs here and there nothing game breaking
    story is really underwhelming as a follow up to the first one
    Ellie's face animations are weird
    Tommy and Jessie are kinda good but most characters feels shallow especially Ellie compare to the first one

It becomes boring and I had to leave the game many times for that. Played TLOU1 and thus loved to see Ellie and Joel in beginning but besides that it is just too bad. And like in Bethesda ego's lie to the player base in order to sell **** No laws to protect me from that and/or to correct a sickening industry, which laws tend to do if they are present.
    Let's see what the Poles will do in November.... because America is in a real BIG crisis !!!

    I have never reviewed a game before. I'm only doing this due to the fact that this game received so many "official 10/10" reviews and I just can't understand that.

    I gave it such a low rating because I feel so betrayed. I didn't enjoy The Last of Us (original) because of it's gameplay or it's graphics, I loved it because of the story. I can't tell you how moved I was by Joel and his    I have never reviewed a game before. I can't tell you how moved I was by Joel and his character development all due to his experience with Ellie. As a father, I can understand Joel and I can relate.

    I wasn't going to preorder this game since I knew it was going to focus on Ellie and I was made aware that there was going to be a lot of reference to her relationship. However, I thought to myself, Naughty Dog has never let me down before, so I should have faith in them. Instead, I will never preorder a game again. I have been let down too often by poorly executed games (ie. Destiny, Battlefront, Battlefield 1 and 5, etc).

    Once they killed off Joel, the person I was most interested in, the game felt very empty. While Ellie can be interesting, she's still a teenager. The fact that I have had to listen to so much teenagey romantic dialogue makes me want to just throw the game in the trash.

    If all you care about is good graphics and amazing sound development, then you'll love this game. This is why I gave a rating of two instead of a zero.

    However, I think Ellie going on her quest for vengeance with a friend , of any gender, would have been more engaging. The "brotherhood" bond that is formed via survival is deeper than teenage romance. Ask any person who has served. However, it feels like her love interest is just a tag along and I just wanted her to go home the entire time.    … Expand

    I enjoyed the game, but just a little little bit , what they did to the story, thats the only thing i hate, but a lot, i can't believe how they ruined everything the first game built, poor writing, the plot holes are **** up.

    Joel was like almost an Arthur Morgan to me, but atleast Arthur had a good death, but it still was a really sad for all the time you spent with Arthur (depending), if Joel had died like a hero or sacrificing for Ellie i wouldn't be annoyed, but if atleast you could beat the **** up out of Abby at the ending and stab her multiple times to revenge Joel, it would be a little better, but nope, Ellie let's her go... are you ****ing kidding me.

    Lastly, the actions of Sony and Naughty Dog have been both unethical and illegal in response to the leaks. We also learned about the horrible work environment that abuses employees at ND.

    So the gameplay is boring, the story is terrible, and the people that made the game are horrid. I don't see any reason to buy this game.    … Expand

    None of the new characters in the game are likeable at all. The main character from the first game gets killed 2 hours in and you are forced to play as the killer for at least 10 hours. When you finally reach the end of the game Ellie decided to not even get her revenge and avenge Joel. The whole game is just one big misery simulator for the sake of being miserable. The story has no direction and feels like it was written by a edgy 14 year old as a fan fiction. Play the first "last of us" and save yourself the headache and skip this game.    … Expand

The self insert character that was based on the director of the game was also disrespectful, spitting on a beloved character making it feel like it was him spitting on the game, the characters everyone loved, and him disrespecting the fans of the game.

Any investment that you have is actively exploited by the game in order to make you feel guilty or depressed. This includes whatever investment the player might have had in The Last of Us, since the characters from that game are completely ruined within this game, both in terms of characterisation, writing and their actual fate within the narrative.

    They removed Joel, a man who learned to find hope amidst a hopeless world by protecting the people he loves, by unceremoniously killing him with a golf club. All the lessons he learned and the new life he had resolved to lead are now completely meaningless, as only a single hour into the game he's just dead. While this creates a powerful emotional catalyst for Ellie, setting her out on this story does nothing but harm her character.

    Ellie herself becomes a nearly emotionless assassin hellbent on getting revenge for Joel's murder. This is not done in a way that makes it any more interesting than the countless revenge stories we've seen before. It's incredibly ham-fisted. But the worst aspect to this design choice is that it sucks more of the fun from the game. Ellie was a bright-eyed, fierce girl with real bite and personality. The player's desire to protect her and see her interact with Joel were the driving force of the plot in The Last of Us. It's why many people put up with the clunkier aspects of the game, the story really patched it up. But now? Joel's dead and Ellie is miserable. The aspect of hope is completely absent in this game, leaving the player with no motivation to continue playing. It is a complete slog to get to the end of this game, and you're constantly left questioning the motives of the developers rather than the motives of the characters. The journey has already committed to being hopelessly grim from the first hour in.

    The new characters in The Last of Us 2 have been pretty harshly criticised, and I would argue that this is completely justified. None of the new characters have stuck with me. Compared to the very natural and realistic dialogue from its predecessor, these new characters feel stiff, emotionless and robotic. Some of them are quirky for no reason and in ways that feels intentionally obtrusive, some of them simply have no personality to speak of, and some of them are simply annoying. Abby in particular is a egregious case, since we spend almost half of the game playing as her, before we even understand why she killed Joel. And in the end it simply turns out that Joel killed her father. Her father was a man that was actively trying to kill Ellie, and Joel killed him to defend her. Meanwhile, Abby killed Joel just because she wanted to. The game demonizes Joel and tries to get us to revaluate his character, but there's really not anything to think about. There is no real moral quandary. Joel killed Abby's father to defend someone he loved. Abby killed Joel because she was bloodthirsty and wanted revenge. Abby is unequivocally a worse person than Joel, which kills a large part of the game's message.

    The reason that the characters behave unnaturally, the setups are so flimsy, the plot holes are so numerous and the world is so hopeless, is because the game has to happen in this way for us to be provided with a message: revenge is bad. Revenge makes you equal to the person you have killed, or it makes you more like them, etc. This is a valuable life lesson for everyone to learn. However, it is something that can be told to you in a far more subtle and understandable way, and is something most people learn when they are 12 years old. This is an 18 rated game. People who have no understanding of basic human morality should not be playing this game, which has full-blown nude sex scenes within it. it treats the player like a young child. The message is also undermined because the gameplay requires you to remorselessly kill hundreds of people to reach the ending, only to be told that killing is wrong. This only makes you view your experiences as even more pointless.

    In the end, Ellie is left completely alone. Joel is dead, her girlfriend and child abandoned her, she didn't take her revenge and simply gave up on Abby, and she can't even play the guitar anymore. She walks off into the distance, solemn and unfeeling. And I am left to stare blankly at the screen and wonder why I was foolish enough to have any emotional attachment to this game whatsoever. The payoff that I was waiting for never came.

    This game accomplishes a 2/10 only by virtue of its stunning technical achievements. The game looks gorgeous and plays serviceably. But if you take out all the aspects of this game that rely purely on budget, this game is left with nothing to stand on. Those things are undercut by being the delivery system for an awful, half-baked, virtue signalling, obnoxious, childlike story with bland and unlikable characters, ridiculous decisions, and an oppressively bleak and grimdark atmosphere.    … Expand

Keep in mind that a ton of people have beaten the game already before release date. Streamers included. Characters are written like they haven't existed in the world ever before and trailers are faked on top of the poor writing. Places where Joel is supposed to be in has been replaced by another character. Trailers gave the feeling that Joel is part of the story and you play with him as Ellie but parts with him on release are just flashbacks and I feel cheated on. Ending made no sense and was poorly written. On top of that Ellie didn't get her revenge on Joel's death and can't even play her quitar anymore Joel taught her to play making it even worse of a ending and Abby got away with all the **** she pulled. The story however does not seem well developed, contrary to what the fortunate ones who received the game for free and in advance say. It seemed to me that the game was forcibly stretched and when the control passes to Abby, the charm is completely lost. Other than that I felt cheated! All the publicity was done exploring the image of Ellie and Joel, but Joel is murdered at the beginning and half of the game is played with Abby, including the player is obliged to remove Ellie and space her. I honestly don't know where to start, it's honestly baffling to me that you can kill one of the two main characters within the first 5% of the game and think the game is gonna be enjoyable after, isn't enjoyment the whole purpose of Video Games? Why do you go out of your way to just make this game as un-enjoyable as possible.

    Don't get me wrong the game is pretty and the area's are well thought out, but the story and gameplay OOF. Gameplay is just a repetitive **** show, where you clear one area of enemy's and continue to the next.

    And don't get me started on the story, halfway through and it just felt like a draaaaaaag, having to play 10 Hours of a Character that i couldn't care less about really hit the nail in the coffin for this game.

    i don't know what else to type i'm just way to upset to keep this going.

    This pains for me to say but this game's story did not live up to its hype at all. I should've allowed myself to get spoiled but I didn't and I regret not doing it. I'm not going to spoil any parts of the game but all I'm going to say is that they removed a character in a rather disappointing and poorly written way. The game's story revolves around Ellie's revenge which is able to work. However, throughout Ellie's journey of killing hundreds of walkers and infected, it ends in one of the most anticlimactic endings I've ever seen in a video game. The amount of pain, loss, and suffering all for nothing because Ellie has a simple flashback. If you want to know what I'm talking about, go search up the ending for yourself. There is also a very unnecessary sex between Abby and a male but for some reason, there is a scene where Ellie and her girlfriend Dina are about to have sex but it fades to black instead.

    If you enjoyed the game, that is totally fine but I think we can all agree that the story could've been written much better. This game completely misses the charm that made the original Last of Us so special. Whats even more painful is that there is flashbacks of Ellie and Joel bonding that I enjoyed playing much more than the main story line. I feel there was much better writing planned out but Neil Druckman and Anita Sarkeesian messed up a lot of the story.

    This is why you don't pre-order no matter how long you've been waiting for a game even by what I used to call the greatest video game developers on the planet. You messed up on this Naughty Dog.    … Expand

    Very poor story telling purely for shock factor. Favourite characters became unrecognisable.
    Game is beautiful but it’s easily forgotten as you continue on with a story that becomes more and more unsatisfying to complete.
    My honest opinion? Forget this game happened and tell myself the 1st game was a stand-alone game.
    Such wasted potential.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
