    This game is just as bad as mass effect 3. I feel nothing but a huge, huge disappointment. Just the same mass effect 3 again. Wasted my time and money. Would never ever buy any naughty dog product from now on and forever, just like I never bought anything bioware-related after me3 fiasco.

    Absolutely horrid story, which is a shame considering how beautiful the game looks, however this is a narrative game which is completely destroyed by the atrocious "revenge plot" that they want to force down the player's throat.

    The gameplay it's almost identical to the last of us but the story has lost all emotion. It's like watching a dripping tap sometimes a big flood of new story elements will come in then all of a sudden theres not a drop of good content for hours.     I personally loved this game. Yes it does some stuff different to what the first game did but overall i believe it worked, this game is not as simple as the first one instead it is much more of a personal journey from two opposing perspectives which drives home the message that there are no hero's in this world, only the ones who get out alive and those who don't.

And I think this is what frustrates me the most about this game. it feels as though this game hasn't been developed for entertainment, but to force an agenda into your face under the guise of a video game.     All it takes is a little push for Ellie to go mad and her quest for revenge story is a brutalistic masterpiece. Do I need to say more? Play the damn game and fully experience a masterfully crafted sequel that will keep you on the edge of your seat and witness the sheer brutality that needs to be played. The first game is all about love, and the sequel is all about hate and you can see why

    The first "Last of us" was one of my top 5 games of all time.
    Really felt attached to the characters and you really get to see Ellie and Joel become like father and daughter.

    With LOU2 they completely change who Joel was as a person. Why would a man who has clearly done bad stuff in the past...
    just randomly give his real name to a bunch of strangers, when they know the areas and who's around?! They (him and tommy) know there are people who may be after them because of Ellie/fireflies and their own past.

    They give him one of the worst deaths within the story. No build up to it...no nothing.

    Then they make you spend half the game playing as the person who murdered Joel in an attempt to make you feel sorry for her(Abbi), even though she doesn't have any remorse for the people she kills throughout the story. Ellie only wants revenge for Joel and you see that in the situations where she kills people, you see her heart breaking because in every situation...you(Ellie) are attacked first and HAVE NO CHOICE but to kill in defence.(the game doesn't give you any other options)

    Absolutely butchered this game!

    This game COULD HAVE been really good, even with this "Abbi wants revenge" as the games basis...even if Joel died ....but they played it all completely wrong...

    If you can't connect to the characters, how are you expected to enjoy or at least have 'the want' to play this game.
    And the fact that they keep trying to block any sort of constructive criticism from the public (y'know, the people that they want to take money off of) especially on social media is a joke!    … Expand

    One of the best game ever: it's awesome and spectacular, the gameplay is amazing and the graphic it's an absolute stanner.
    All of the bad rewies are from idiots, or from the ones that hate NaughtyDog; if you say that this is a bad game, you deserve death stranding with its "postman simulator"

    I wont go in to any major details, but its not anything like the finest one.....its gritty, bleak and depression at its best. - and as a video game i LIKED IT ALOT. WOULD I LIKED TO HAVE SEEN THE STORY PAN OUT IN ANOTHER WAY? YES,. But with the story we got - i was still amazed and dont regret buying it in any way

    This is the most disappointing experience I've ever had in my gaming life. I can't even describe that frustration I felt, when I realized whats going to happen in second part of the game. After completing the game I understood why devs did this, but it didn't help. It took so much work to make such huge locations, but what's the point? In second part I've speed ran them in disgust, skipping all the content, just to know how the story ends. Yes, TLOU2 is much much longer and bigger than the first game but it also much much shallower. Well, I know that my expectations are my problems, but when you've got army of fans huge like that, you can't just **** on their heads.    … Expand

The gameplay is very good and the graphics is so phenomenal for ps4 (i dont even know how ps4 can run this game). Maybe alot of you really hate the stories because the way Naughty dog treat joel ( actually i kinda sad because of it) and the way ellie forgives abby and let her go in the end of the game ( she lost everything). In the end tlou 2 is a game not a movie so you have to play it and you will understand why this game is good or bad. I dont say that everyone will love the stories but atleast you will like the gameplay or the beauty of the graphics. For me its up to you to say that this game is very bad after play the game but when you rate this game 0 and youre not play the game yet your argument, your rating is invalid.     The graphics and voice acting was great, but the entire story feels hollow and poorly told. All of the favorite characters were killed off dryly and the ending was horrible. The game left me disappointed and I would never recommend this to anyone.

Characters like Joel are shown to adept and skilled at survival in the first game, skill-fully avoiding an ambush in the early parts of the game showing his many years of experience in his line of work but fails to do that in this game for sake of the revenge plot that they wanted. His death spits in the face of fans who liked him. There's nothing wrong with giving a main character a good death. It can leave a lasting impact like Lee in the Walking Dead or Zak from Crisis Core. Those deaths resonated with fans because it was expertly crafted. This wasn't done well whatsoever.

    The ending makes no sense too, you play through the game killing left and right only to spare the antagonist you were after in the beginning of the game at the very last moment after fighting them. I get that the game wants to do the "revenge is bad" angle but it's done so poorly Ellie's motives make no sense considering what she's done to get there. I honestly felt like it was written by somebody else entirely, somebody with an abysmal writing experience and knows nothing about the writing or the game's characters.

    The gameplay was always mediocre too, nothing that amazing, you might as well watch it on Youtube.
    The only thing redeeming about the last of us is the characters and graphics, the former is done so poorly in this game.

    Never really liked the first game but really don't like this game.
    Don't recommend it, just watch the cutscenes on Youtube if you really have to.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us: Part 2 wasn’t a terrible game in any way shape or form, under any other title it would be seen as a great game. But the fact that the initial game was so great and the standards were so high for a sequel, it somehow seemed destined to fail. It was one of the most beautiful games I’ve played. The attention to detail of the characters and the feels of the areas you explore are immensely pleasing. The core visual of the game could be mistaken for cutscenes at points. I can tell the effort put into the game visually and gameplay wise were very thorough and it showed. Where the game kind of lost me was the storyline and the feelings the game left me with. When I ended the game I set down my controller and I didn’t feel positive, I didn’t feel as if I completed a great triumph or just had an unforgettable experience with the game. It left me in regret. I wish I hadn’t played the game. A lot of the story seems out of place. There are flashbacks in random points that either interrupt the story or don’t give anything really meaningful, (though the flashbacks with Joel were very beautiful and sweet to play through). The characters had no meaning to me because they were introduced and were killed before we got to know them, and they are either 1)later revealed to be a good person and we should feel guilty for it (I never felt guilty) or 2) were not touched on at all for the rest of the game. The plot was very simple minded. We all would want to get revenge in a situation Ellie was put in obviously but I feel like it could’ve taken a much better and more controversial approach, where it could leave you wondering if you made the right decision or not. I didn’t mind Joel’s death, in fact I think it needed to happen, but the revenge plot just made the story seem one-dimensional. Additionally, a lot of the points I felt bored with the repetitious gameplay and it didn’t feel like anything new or dangerous was around the corner. Lastly, the whole zombie/ infected outbreak was kind of abandoned. Not a single important person was bit or infected which gave me the impression that they kind of got rid of the outbreak being a point to drive/ break the story. It felt wrong in that sense. In conclusion, The Last of Us: Part 2 is a ‘good’ game but the fact that it was a sequel to one of the best games to have graced our screens made it feel pretty poorly thought out and executed. I didn’t wait 7 years to play a ‘good’ game after I had played an unforgettable experience. It, in all honesty, left me with a sick taste in my mouth and makes me not want to touch another story driven game for a long while because I’m afraid to be left with the same taste… Expand

After such a disgusting way to treat a beloved character, trying to have me sympathize with the bad guy for almost half the game just felt like a slap to the face. I understand that this is a rough world that they live in and dying comes unexpectedly and brutally, but before anything, this is a VIDEO GAME. video games are meant to be enjoyable and immerse the player to keep wanting to play more, but this game did just the opposite. Critics say this ga,e is being 'review-bombed' by 'homophobic' or 'transphobic' gamers, but I cannot stress enough how much that is not even close to the case. You look at other games that feature an lgbt relationship, and they still get a high rating provided the story is good enough. End of the day, this is just a lazily-written game and an utter disappointment. This wasn't the sequel we wanted, and even after waiting 7 years for it, I wish it never happened.… Expand

The attempt at an edgy protagonist switch was badly done and left me wanting. I didn't particularly enjoy the story, it was a badly written attempt at a revenge story and felt half-hearted. I've finished the game now and to be honest I did not enjoy myself even half as much as I expected based on the first title. It left me feeling...Disappointed, dirty, and sad and at times even a little upset. :(

    For clarity, I did know about the way Naughty Dog and Sony had been acting like a child having a tantrum. They went and tattled to teacher with Youtubers and Twitter users, getting accounts closed/struck (the worst being over a meme...pathetic) so maybe that coloured my perception.

    In conclusion, I think I will be extremely wary of Naughty dog in the future, I thank them for TLOU 1 which I loved but this left a sour taste and tbh I'm likely to look at the Xbox rather than Sony for my next gen in the hope they will act more like adults. :(    … Expand

    Amazing game once again, with brilliant graphics that I have never seen in a game. It is literally like watching a movie. Improved gameplay, amazing and gut wrenching story. This and the first one are still my favorite games of all time.

    The game look absolutely beautiful; environment designs, lighting, textures - but the story is a complete disappointment in every way. It seems like an attempt to take all that is sacred in the human experience, and force you to feel nothing but negativity. It is as though the decision making in the game development was given to a resentful child wanting to annoy the world.

The game made me feel disgusted and gross. The gameplay was sadistic and unsatisfying and the story was absolutely a mess as well. Not to mention they tossed away the MC from the first game like a piece of trash. Ellie also lost everything for no reason.

    Dont even bother. The SJW BS feels so forced and out of place in this game. And the game forces you to play a character you hate for like half the game, why?

    Ill give it a 2 because the game worked and looked mostly visually pleasing. But that isnt even saying much since its a console game and is stuck with 30 fps anyways.

    Either you understand and love it or you don't and hate it. Even if you disagree with the story's direction it's still one of the most beautiful games ever made with A.I. that is smarter than any I've ever seen, the music is great, and gameplay is tense with tons of action. The gameplay should be what you judge it on else the story should come 2nd and the gameplay is amazing.

    I am someone who enjoyed this game. The combat was great. With the 2 harder difficulties, the only thing I didnt like about it was it was hard to get ammo from enemy's. It was they never ran out of ammo shooting at me but they got off ever last bullet before they dead. The story was good. I enjoy something different when it comes to story. And that was delivered.     Really enjoyed this game. Dispite all the haters they couldn't be more wrong. If you liked the first, I doubt you will dislike the second. All i can say is if you have some unhealthy attachments to characters, or for some reason you cant stand a story that involve LGBT characters then i would say this game isn't for you.

    Game play was great, mechanics were greats, and the combat was great. Being a linear game that is submerged in its story, it really failed to deliver. Most of it has severe continuity issues as well as pointless plot points. This is the first game from ND that I did not like, and that being an understatement.

Why do they hate their wonderful creation and characters so much? Why do they not care at all what fans think? This is a gaming company and they make money by putting smiles on our faces by giving us a fun game to enjoy. At least that is how it should be, instead Naughty Dog is indulging in the destruction of an IP to put a smile on their own faces. Why did they do this!? What did they possibly think they could achieve!?

    The only thing that the developers seemed to truly cared about is pushing a specific agenda. I don't want to be bothered with anything like that at all, because it destroys my escapism. I just want to play a video game, not be lectured. To make matters worse, I don't agree with these viewpoints at all.

    As a standalone game I would give it 4/10, but for destroying something I loved and cherished so much, that score is dropping to catastrophic 1/10.

    Naughty Dog and Sony have been sent a message by the fans and I truly hope that they reflect upon that and do everything in their power prevent a catastrophe like this from ever happening again.    … Expand

    Just finished my first playthrough, took me around 28 hours and I loved it. I managed to avoid spoilers and I enjoyed the story, the gameplay was similar enough to the first game that I found it easy to get back into but there was enough new weapons and gameplay mechanics that it still felt like an upgrade from the first. Would recommend !

    The gameplay itself, gameplay mechanics and AI is great as expected from N.D but the story is for the lack of words **** I know in the modern society most men are **** and a hindrance to women who's destined to achieve greatness.

    Joel gets **** by a golf club at the hands of Abby (The Maa'am, second of her name) and the way the whole ordeal goes down is way to convenient by the last of us standards, Abby just happens to be on the quest of vengeance against Joel and guess what! she just ran into him and Tommy, and the untrusting and weary man we know Joel and Tommy to be just spits out their name to her (a stranger) twice... that's just unacceptable character change right there. well anyway, it ends with Joel getting **** as a character and as a man.

    Ellie: Ellie was our surrogate daughter whom we loved and nurtured into being a true badass under Joel's wing.
    They made her a vengeful and depressed girl who can't stop herself from doing one despicable brutal act after another no matter how much it breaks her down, the path of revenge has made her blind and empty inside. Ellie was quirky and full of life in the first game, she was worthy enough in our eyes as a fan to see humanity be robbed of the cure it might have today.
    This is not the Ellie we know, this person wearing Ellie's suit isn't worth it. And when the game ends she just lets Abby go, everything she had done or suffered until that point is rendered meaningless, I guess avenging Joel didn't meant enough for her to kill the great Abby (The Maa'am, second of her name) character who had massacred her father figure and her close friends. That's not Ellie.. **** that!

    Naughty Dog and Sony have done it again and created a true masterpiece of a game. We should count ourselves very lucky to have companies like Naughty Dog and Sony. I can't wait to see what they cook up next for the PS5 but I'm sure its going to be groundbreaking again.

It would have been better if Abby was developed as a likeable charecter early on in the game. And instead of Joel saving Abby...Abby should have saved Joel...     Gameplay 10/10: Outstanding, ND does not fail in this installment, adding new systems in puzzles, dodge in combat, new melee weapons, camouflage in the environment, dogs as enemies, access new places breaking windows, among other things, I honestly do not understand the people who say that the gameplay is the same as it was 7 years ago, apart from what was mentioned I don't know what else could be added.
    Extreme violence in gameplay with amazing details.

    Graphics 10/10: The maximum that a PS4 can deliver, beautiful landscapes and very subtle cinematic/gameplay transitions that are hardly noticeable, impeccable.

    Music/Sound 9/10: I do not put a 10 because it is not as incredible as in the first installment, it also makes you feel many emotions, Gustavo Santaolalla shines again with each of his notes, impressive work. Excellent gameplay sound, rain, wind, footsteps, weapons, all with detailed and accurate sounds.

    Story 6/10: This is where the game disappoints due to the high stick left by part 1, the fact that Joel dies is very shocking, both for Ellie and for the player, throughout the first half of the game you You feel the anger for avenging Joel himself, that finally if you understand the story it dissipates a bit. ND makes us see that in this game there are no heroes or villains, they are all people who make mistakes, they all have their reasons for everything they do, on the one hand Ellie is thirsty for revenge for the death of Joel who is like her father, and on the other hand Abby killed Joel for the anger generated by the fact that he killed his father, TLOU 2 stresses the cliché that revenge is not good and only brings chaos in its path, Ellie lost everything by revenge, but in the end she understood that even though killing Abby Joel would not return, that's why she forgives her, to end the cycle of hatred and deaths, Ellie realizes how important it is to forgive, she did not do it in time with Joel and it is what more It hurts (last flashback), many people do not understand and are blinded by the fact that Abby has to die. If someone personally hated every aspect of the story, every word that came out of the character's mouths; it still can't be a 0. People are willing to throw aside the game-play, graphics and animation because this is a sequel that gives all who played the first installment very intense emotions. I myself, was affected very strongly by the opening of the game. For a few moments, it wasn't a game anymore. Fixated on the screen, I played the game from start to finish in one sitting. But, even though I'm giving the game a strong 10/10, I did experience what those who gave it a 0 did. Watching Joel die was gut wrenching. We all cared about Joel, some of us cared more than we thought. This masterpiece doesn't get to be brought down because some of us can't handle our emotions. Would you prefer Ellie kill a barley alive Abby and leave a child to die? Would you prefer we turn Ellie into the monster she was hunting all along? It would be too easy to say that all these folks are spamming zeroes because they have political agendas that rival this game's messages or that they simply did not understand the narrative. I assume the problem lies within the narrow vision through which players viewed it. Joel's death is something a lot of us expected but not in the way it's showcased here, just a mere 2 hours into the story. Let me debunk the reviews which are solely based on someone's anger about Joel's death. If you would have paid attention to the game, you would have realize that Naughty Dog spends the entire **** narrative trying to justify the choice to kill Joel off. The implications of the first game's ending are explored so deeply here, you cannot help yourself but feel for Ellie and her loss. But Abby's perspective is also explored. Those that complain about the message being too simple and overused, you forget that the first game was not complex at all, it held together the story with character chemistry and drama. "Revenge is bad" is such an oversight, it's actually insane how many adults describe this game that way. No story is original, it's borrowed from the past. No message is new, it's either old or revised to sound well for the new generations. This game presents its themes in a satisfying manner, not leaving anything out of the picture. There are many layers to the post-apocalyptic world shown in The Last of Us 2. Everyone's actions have consequences and everyone is flawed. This is truly gray morale, something that's missing from popular media nowadays. The ending is a bit long but it makes perfect sense within the context of the story.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
