    Honestly, best game of the year so far.

    Gripping and entertaining story, shockingly beautiful scenery, well acted, well animated, good level design. Playing this made me feel scared, triumphant, sad, and ultimately drained by the end - in the best possible way. Don't believe the negative press, it's a righteous successor to the first game. One which I can only believe will be vindicated    Honestly, best game of the year so far.

    With more than 1000 games I played in my life since 1987, this game is in my top 5. I have never seen anything like this. It's just unbelievably beautiful, the scenes are breathtaking, the character models and animations feel alive, the story is moving and dramatic. I finished it yesterday and still can't believe how perfect the game is. I feel sorry for those people who bombed theWith more than 1000 games I played in my life since 1987, this game is in my top 5. I have never seen anything like this. It's just unbelievably beautiful, the scenes are breathtaking, the character models and animations feel alive, the story is moving and dramatic. I finished it yesterday and still can't believe how perfect the game is. I feel sorry for those people who bombed the negative reviews (without playing it in most cases) for such an awesome game like this. There are no better words for the game: UNBELIEVABLE, MASTERPIECE.

    Game is trying to give us many reasons to why we should care about a random NPC's life in the first game. Story telling is nonsense and game is full of darkness, it makes you feel worse after you play it , cause there's just sadness and drama.
    Nobody would like to play a game that is insisting on hating the character that made you love the original game.
    Ellie treats Joel in the worst way ever ! What about all the things they did together and all the things Joel did for her.
    I want more respect for the character that we all loved , And I would like to see him more.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First thing first, the team that took care of the graphics is really talented and deserves more than this trash game, amazing stuff, shadows are perfect, lights are perfect, everything looks amazing, 1 point for that.

    Now to the grim part, don't even know where to begin, from the very start we see Ellie be an absolute **** to everyone, doesn't even feel like herself for most of the game, she felt human in the first game, now she's basically a cold blooded killer without emotions, arguably one of the best things of tlou1, the relationship between Joel and Ellie is completely gone, our beloved director spat on it just like he spat on Joel's dead body in his tasteless and **** cameo.

    Joel gets killed like a rabid dog within 2 hours into the game in front of tommy and Ellie, she shows emotions for about 5 seconds and then goes back to her emotionless state unless some flashback or ptsd is needed for the plot, in general everyone gets over terrible things super quick, just the time for the cutscene to end and its all good.

    After Joel dies, Ellie goes on a quest for revenge, the user can expect many hours of endless walking simulator and scavenging, absolutely no new mechanics in the game, some animations and minigames are exactly the same from the first game (death by clickers and generators for example)

    After the walking simulator part is done we see Ellie's actual original intent start to happen in the game, she kills many of Abby's friends in the process without thinking twice, she even gives the same treatment that was given to Joel to Nora, just with a lead pipe instead of a golf club. Around the same time we also discover that Dina, character that lacks of any background story or depth except having kissed Ellie while drunk, is pregnant and followed Ellie even though she knew she was, yeah yeah strong woman, really woke, right? no, just stupid, you'll lose your kid, putting another life in danger but its a game, whatever,

    We finally get to what seems to be the end, Abby finds them, kills Jesse in a second and then threatens to kill tommy, screen goes black and we switch to Abby's point of view of the last 2 days.

    For the entire time the game tries to make you feel bad about Abby, showing how good of a person she is even playing with dogs am i right? no, no one cares about her, never seen her before and doesn't have any background, all the player knows is that she tortured and killed Joel, no matter how hard they try, most people will hate Abby endlessly, I know I did and I also hated every second played as her, we get through some "side quest" shoved into the game to make it 2 hours longer about Abby, ruthless killer of scars, torturer of Joel, having a random change of heart and saving 2 scars and that's all.

    Back to the theater, finally i thought i'd get to play as ellie and.... nope, you must play as Abby, chase ellie and go in for the kill, tommy gets shot in the back of the head by Abby, somehow survives, Dina gets her face smashed on the ground by Abby and is about to get her throat slit when the scar kid Abby saved calls her name and everything is good, Abby leaves ellie, tommy and Dina alive, gotta make this game a bit longer am i right?.

    Speed through some happy family scene, bla bla bla no one cares and we get to the last part, the biggest let down in the game, tommy visits Ellie and tells her where Abby is, after a bit of indecision she pursues her, after months and months we finally get to the final showdown and... ellie doesn't complete her revenge, apparently, joel, the man who ruthlessly murdered an entire hospital and killed his friend or whatever she was in the first game, marlene, to prevent ellie from being in danger wouldn't have wanted Ellie to finish off Abby.

    the whole story doesn't deserve a single point and it also feels like political agenda, its clearly noticeable how the only white straight characters are there because they were in the story already, everyone else is either non white, gay/a lesbian/trans or both, i don't have anything against those categories but its it feels very unlikely that minorities would become majorities after the apocalypse...

    Conclusion: don't waste your time and money on this game, it's a total let down, druckmann just followed his own agenda and didn't care at all about the story or the fans, hopefully this is a wake up call for people about naughty dog.    … Expand

    Just disappointing
    I played the first game back in 2013 on ps3 and i was just amazed how beautiful the narrative was and how complex and detailed each character was, for me it was the best game I’ve ever played. Then I decided not to buy xbox one and buy ps4 just because I wanted to experience this game once more on the next gen console. And since then I've total of 8 playthroughs and    Just disappointing

I got to a point where I don’t know what am I playing. And I can’t event get back and play the first part because it’ll remind me of how bad the second one is So my advice to you if you haven’t played it and you love the first one just don’t try to ruin your experience by playing this, trust me it’s not worth it    … Expand

    The gameplay is amazing. Much improved, it flows so well. Sometimes it will be tense and exciting and sometimes it will make you feel like a complete badass. Great story as well.

    Gameplay is solid, but the story made key mistakes. Spat on a beloved character, and forced excessive amounts of unwanted gameplay as Abby, Joel's killer. Just not a satisfying ending either, as Joel gets no justice, and Abby walks free while Ellie has nothing .

    You don't need a good history anymore, just put some teenage drama and some artificial relashionships while demolish the one relashionship that we are realy invested. So tired of swallowing progressive propaganda in my games. Leave the gamer alone **** SWJ. Besides that this game has poor, contrived writing that is just trying to prove a point. OMG just stop, i want my money back.

Technically speaking the game is really good, sound design, graphics, character model, etc... but we are playing The Last of Us right, not Dark Souls. TLOU story is sooooooo bad and boring, so generic, is imposible to care about these characters. And they killed their franchise character, who the **** does that?! And why?! The last of us part 2 is a good game not a great game but a very good game the gameplay is awesome it is better then the first one incredible bosses incredible graphics one of the best gameplay ever made but unfortunately the story start pretty good the first 10 hours is very good you go and kill and get revenge on the people that killed Joel but the ending like you are about to drown the villain and get that kill final but then you let hear go just like that and then you go home and there is nobody there whiting for you Dina definitely would have stayed at the house for you and then it just ends on a clif hanger you got be **** kidding me 26 hours of fun to end like that if you had just killed Abby and then get home to your family it would have been a 10 out 10 for me sorry but it could have been better… Expand

    - The graphics are beautiful. Some of the best this console generation has to offer.
    - The gameplay is good, not great, but good. - The gore and kills were very cool and very brutal. - Joel. Yes, Joel. The very little time he has on screen were great. The opening of the game and the flash backs of him were the best parts of the game in my opinion.
    - Sound and atmosphere were on point. No complaints there.

    Now the cons:

    - Very, very boring game. I was bored within the first 4 hours. Looking for materials and supplements and ammo and collectibles were like 70% of the game. I know the first game was like this but the level design is so big now it became very tedious and annoying. - The characters were terrible. Even Ellie was annoying me. Abby was a pain to play with. It was a cringe fest. Supporting characters were very average at best. Jessie was ok, Tommy too. Everyone else, terrible. - Characters appearing from thin air. I couldn’t believe how some characters just meet up with me out of nowhere. Like, where did you come from and how did you find me. Happens on like 3 occasions. Impossible. - The end. What a terrible ending. Has to be the worse revenge story ever. I just don’t understand how they thought people would like the end result. I would of rather Ellie die over how it turned out. Trash. Garbage!

    Like I said. This isn’t a 0/10. Its decent, but has a lot of flaws. The hype over this game and fake reviews it got from journalists is what really hurts it. It is nowhere near a 10/10 or 5/5 or 100% score. It really isn’t. 4/10 from me. I was going to give it a 3 but the graphics and sound and atmosphere picked up most of the slack. Don’t buy this game brand new. If you really want to play it, buy a used copy. You’ll probably still feel like you wasted your money 25 hours later. I’ve deleted it from my PS4 and it will never be back.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. These reviews are ridiculous and show the worst part of a user review system. The game is great, just as good as the first one. Any hate it gets is for spoilers with no context or anger of a made-up "agenda" should be ignored.

    The story does have some pacing issues, but it subverts expectations. I went in loathing one of the two main playable characters, but by the end I really enjoyed them. It was a great juxtaposition, where Ellie is an entirely new character arc, and Abby is more akin to the first game, and they cross over in a brilliant way.

    lack of multiplayer out the gate is a huge bummer as I really enjoyed the multiplayer in the first game. Hopefully, they add it later.    … Expand

The most interesting thing is that everything in the first has improved in the second! One more point for dubbing, as always too much show, even I like it in English with subtitles and I'm playing dubbed! The events were very well thought out and with good reason! That is the impact they really wanted to make. Small, more graphic details like moving the grass a bit weird, and the main characters getting run over in some places gets on the negative side. For the rest, a spectacular experience, as promised. It had been a long time since anything had held me for so many hours without wanting to stop. For me, note 8.5. So I really liked playing it, although it started to get repetitive around the end. Also the graphics are beautiful and some of the best I have ever seen. Anyway on the the story.

    Before I talk about what I disliked, I'll talk about what I did like. First off I really liked Jesse's character. It was also really nice to see Tommy again. I also like Ellie and Dina's relationship, it was done well, and I liked the open world Seattle portion and finding Nathan Drake's ring in the bank was cool. And lastly the flashbacks with Joel and Ellie were amazing, the guitar scene, museum scene, hotel scene, and Joel admitting that he lied were some of the best scenes in the game. Here's what I didn't like: Joel's death. I'm fine with Joel dying, maybe around the end of the game, but not only does he die in the opening, he gets his head bashed in with a golf club by Abby. Oh and lets get into Abby, I HATED her from the beginning to end. And not only does she kill Joel in the most disrespectful way, you play as her for 10 HOURS. That's HALF the game, and they try to make you like her, but who is going to like after she killed Joel! And I hated playing as her all those 10 hours! It sucks some of the best moments are in Abby's story like the new weapons she gets and the infected boss fight but it was ruined by playing as her. Oh and on top of that you play as ABBY fighting and beating up ELLIE! Enough said. And in the end Ellie lets Abby live, even though every person playing wanted to kill Abby then and there. Everything about Abby just sucked, and it was half the game.

    On top of all this, the pacing was bad. We start by playing day 1,2,and 3 as Ellie, it ends with a cliff hanger, play day 1,2,and 3 as Abby, then the ending. It would be better if they took Abby's sections, shortened them and had up play Ellie day 1 then Abby day 1, Ellie day 2 then Abby day 2 and so forth. At least the pacing would be better

    Let me just end by saying that I am not a blind hater. I am a huge Naughty Dog fan, I love Crash, Jak and Daxter, Uncharted, and Last of Us. And I was looking forward to this game up until the release day and it was a huge let down. They screwed it up by taking too many risks that did not pay off in the end. My rating would be a 6/10 just because I really enjoyed the gameplay and a few parts of the story, but that plot man...It's like the Last Jedi all over again. I gave it a chance despite of what I heard, and did not like it. I expect more from Naughty Dog.    … Expand

I played 28 hours and I can speak with all sincerity, this is an average game. Don't get me wrong, but the story of this game is so porously constructed and directed that there are moments that you get lost and tired. Neil Druckmann wanted to implement a whole political agenda within the game, and I succeeded. On the positive points, I can quote 3.



    1° Graphics

    Basically, it's all the power of PS4, it's the game that most abuses the capacity of the console, even having downgrade compared to what the naughty dog showed in 2018, is still very impressive and wonderful



    2° Playability

    How did people expect Joel to die? He was a bad person who killed a lot of people. And the first game saw him blow his chance of redemption and lie to the person who would do anything for him. Don't get me wrong, I love his character, but I didn't see anything else for him.

    5. The new characters were treated better than the old ones. All the old characters were spit upon and the newcomers were treated with way more respect (i.e Lev and Abby).
    6. The ending was awful "revenge is bad" but the person who started the cycle of revenge gets away Scott free and constantly comes out on top against Ellie in the game (losing her friends doesn't count as her suffering, Abby's friends were punished for her actions, not her, unlike Ellie who lost her lover, baby, tommy and her fingers)
    7. They have the audacity to try and force you to feel empathy for Abby and her group. If they introduced her backstory and stuff way earlier and then she killed Joel it would have more impact. But having her kill Joel first thing and then expecting us to feel sorry for her is stupid. It's poor writing.
    8. The character development was non existent. There's no need to explain this because it's blatantly obvious.
    9. The false advertisement and the intentional misleading in the trailers is disgusting. It's deplorable that a company would intentionally swap character models, and ADD character models to trick consumers into believing something that isn't true just so they can sell copies.
    10. A better story would be Dina being murdered and Ellie decides to get revenge on her girlfriend by tracking these people down and Joel comes with her. The rest of the journey is about Ellie dealing with all this anger she has inside from Dina's death, to Joel lying to her and so on and so forth and Joel helping her deal with the anger as well as repairing the relationship they lost after Ellie finds out the truth about what happened during the events of the end of the first game. Then Joel goes out saving Ellie or sacrifices himself. The walking dead telltale series did Lee's death perfectly. That's how you give a good character a good death that fans are sad but not angry about.    … Expand

    I love the first tlou for the strong storyline. Sadly much time passed since its release and such developer as Amy Hennig and Bruce Straley leaved Naughty Dog. My impression is that next to others Neil Druckmann is responsible for this low revenge story construct.

    I am a huge fan of part 1 so I couldn't wait to play part 2 after 7 years. I just finished the story yesterday, avoided all of the spoilers, trailers and leaks because I wanted to experience the story from beginning to end without knowing what I would get myself into. The story is, just like part 1, really good. It isn't as simple as people claim it is, it goes a lot deeper and real fans of the game can tell. I would definitely recommend to play this game and experience it for yourself. Forget about the hate this is getting and just enjoy it. People are just whining about the fact the story didn't go as they wanted it to go, but that's what makes it so beautiful, it is just unpredictable sometimes. Everything makes sense if you played part 1 about a dozen times like I have. Just try the game and relax, don't worry about the long travel time sometimes, if you think that is boring you could put the difficulty level up for a challenge, or turn it down to just race through it so you can carry on with the story.

    If one thing is sure, the game did what its intentions are. People are hating on it because of how much they care for the characters. They took the time to give it a bad rating just because they don't like the way the story goes, but they forgot that this isn't an interactive story, it is a experience, just like part 1. If you're not just an empty headed, low IQ nerd who just likes to play Minecraft, play this game (after you play part 1!) and enjoy the story it's telling.

    If the last of us part 1 was a 11/10, the last of us part 2 would be a 10/10, not on the same level, but still one hell of a good game!    … Expand

I heard about the leaks before playing so I was curious to see what was true and I was deeply upset to see that most of them was true. 30 mins in and we get a weed smoking scene. Are you serious? By this point I already dont care about ellie or her friends. Shortly after Everyone's favorite, Joel is killed, and in such a disrespectful way, to see him treated like that was not a good start to the game, then I get an eyeful of..gay? sex, my how progressive we have become. It looks just so awful with these rendered models that the 30 second it was on screen was enough to hurt my eyes. So now we control Joel's killer in some attempt to sympathize with.. her. This is where I want to stop playing, such an unlikable character already but okay let's see this through. A bunch more characters dies that no one cares about. We have to kill several dogs, in a sad attempt to tug on the heartstrings. In the final moments of the game ellie decides to save Joel's killer, then ellie then changes her mind another 2 times and decides that killing is bad, after killing a hundred people to get to her, just get your **** revenge jesus. Abby eats ellie's fingers, she cant play guitar so sad the end. Joel is basically in the game just so they can kill him and defile his corpse. Definitely wont buy another naughty dog game. I understand most most people won't have the same experience, game offers big areas to explore, the story is well written, didn't like the idea of playing a new character that was portrayed at the start as a horrible character, but once you play as this new character I began to understand her role in the game more. The game was well written as well as the characters, the graphics are amazing slot of detail in the small things. Going to play this over and over again. Epic follow up to the first game. The story, in a masterclass of narrative gaming, does not cower or flinch and will steamroll right over your expectations. This will certainly anger some fans (who appear to like their gaming narratives vanilla and predictable and their characters two-dimensional and easy to digest), but that is what makes the experience of the game so exceptional and represents a game that chooses a singular devotion to its themes, setting, and characters, instead of pandering to fans, or anyone else for that matter. It’s a magnificent achievement.

    I created an account just to drop by and vocalize how disappointed I am after waiting 7 years to see a sequel. I will pretend this sequel was only the first 20 minutes of the game and that is it. Nothing that happened in that storyline makes any sense to me. It is absolutely disgusting. They could've made a left leaning game as much as they wanted but not to the extend they did it.I created an account just to drop by and vocalize how disappointed I am after waiting 7 years to see a sequel.     It has one of the best stories ever the only minus point is that you play Abby for so long even though she is the one who killed joel, would have preferred to play Tommy.

    this game and story it's just amazing and lot of fortnite people give a bad rating just because he is 12 years old and (spoilful) their favorite character is dead (spoilful end) and that's really a shame for the ratings of the games.

    While the graphics are absolutely breathtaking, and the combat works just fine. The story of TLOU2 just doesn't live up to the previous title. While I understand what Naughty dog was going for by the end of the game, it just wasn't for me, and I can't see myself wanting to playthrough this one again.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
