    Although ND is still a industry leader with TLOU2 graphic wise, they have sold their soul to the story devil. I couldn't believe that what started out in TLOU with great storytelling, devolved into a stupid revenge tale. Highly disappointed with what was released. This is definately a step in the wrong direction and a do not buy till highly discounted for maybe 10 bucks.

Unfortunately the writers got into the sugar cereal and had a meltdown in the story department. I have no problem with killing off main characters, especially to inspire you to follow through the game until the end, but to make you play as the killer of someone you pent 100s of hours with building a relationship with and getting attached to? To be frank, are you high? This is just first and foremost poor story telling and to put this out on the market thinking it was a good idea was a horrible mistake. The only reason i didnt give it a 1 is due to its gorgeous scenery and solid gameplay.… Expand

    The game in itself was great and i enjoyed it, but when the second part of it started it just went down and down. Abby side was compleatly useless to the story and i think it should ended in the Teather part where you fight Abby as Ellie, and then just show The part with farm house. Gameplay 7/10

    Gameplay has nothing strictly speaking wrong with it, except TLoU1 already did all of it and with better context and story. Graphics are inconsequential.

    A good video game either needs truly superlative gameplay to make you want to go through for the challenge's sake, or a great story to make you want trudge through it even if the gameplay isn't that great. Ideally both. But if your    Gameplay has nothing strictly speaking wrong with it, except TLoU1 already did all of it and with better context and story. Graphics are inconsequential.

    A good video game either needs truly superlative gameplay to make you want to go through for the challenge's sake, or a great story to make you want trudge through it even if the gameplay isn't that great. Ideally both. But if your gameplay's the usual action-adventure cookie-cutter stuff, and the story absolutely atrocious, the end result isn't going to be any good.

    This could be the greatest game ever made, and I'd still despise it because of the crunch development. That's what's p***ing me off the most about this game, the fact that a horrible, abusive practice went into making it and game journos are letting the man responsible get away with it with no consequences because he's hiding behind progressivism and using it as a defense for his actions. I never would've bought this game, it just never appealed to me, but I'll gladly drag it through the mud for normalizing crunch.    … Expand

The writers try to flex and use "look how good of a writer am I did ____" The characters are dull and uninspired, the narrative tears down any positive things about the game as the dread of horrible writing overshadows all narrative moments of levity or well written lines.

    Good Great Stunning for graphic, game play. Some nice action and scene. Plot and story though, don't compare this **** to the first one. Whoever come up with the plot with Joel's execution, delivered it poorly. Stop making game. Go living a sad miserable life instead.

    Went through the whole game and I wish that they could've fake Joel's death to get him off the hook then big surprise by the end. Or Abby got infected by the ending then a sour revenge turn into forgiveness that can be respect. Too easy...... that execution is too easy for Joel. This is the end of the series. A cheap shot for part 2.

    If you never play the last of us before. Then play this game. It's alright with up to date graphic. But if you did play the last of us before. You will find that same feeling like FFXV. The plot that can never be complete.    … Expand

I'm all for revenge but its just been done a million times and weak. the main problem with this game though is that so many reviewers have given it 10 out of 10. there is no way even if you are fan of this style of game and this series that this is a ten its a 8 at most mostly for the fact that the game play is so stale, exploration is like a 10 year old game with invisible walls of grass or vines everywhere, you can even jump on cars or anything they haven't scripted which is just lazy game world making for a exploration game there is very little to explore as its all just open air wall corridors on one level. Its like a game from the early 2000's. So how can you give it a 10 that is just poor journalism. another Massive problem with the game is that the level design is so linear and basic its just not acceptable for even a indie game let alone something with this budget in 2020. In the age of Dark souls, Bloodbourne, Tomb Raider and Jedi Fallen order we have a game which sends you down tiny little paths with invisible walls of vines, come ON! and they are giving it a 10/10. I don't understand those reviews, they must be scared if reviewing it poorly other wise they might think people would think they are anti LGBT, and the whole gay thing is way overplayed on this they make such big deal about it, instead of treating it with respect and just being normal about it instead they hinge whole story arcs on it. I did not care Ellie was a lesbian in the first game and it didn't bother that Abby is transgender, even though it feels a bit forced. My problem is that everything that had a meaning in the first game, doesn't have one anymore in this one. I feel like Neil just gave us a huge slap in the face with Joel's unnecessary death and how pointless it was. This game made want to quit when we were forced to play as Abby right after killing Joel and the having to fight Ellie. The ending was the worst I've ever experienced and made me feel like Ellie's entire journey had no meaning after forgiving Abby for literally killing everything she loved and letting her go. I'm tremendously disappointed and heartbroken. The jump button was basically useless and the visuals were fantastic, which saddly is the only good thing about this game.

    The last of us should never have had a sequel, not like this.

    You just have to check the critics' score to realize that there's something rotten. The plot has tons of holes, the story was probably written by a 12 yo and let's not talk about the ending. I mean what were the Devs thinking. This game has Sarkeesian's scent all over it, I'm truly dissapointed.

    They stomp right over the original game just so they can create some sort of feverish nightmare of a story with sjw politics injected artificially. Breath of the wild dealt with these issues perfectly. They didn't let it affect the story and they didn't force it down your throat

    This game pisses me off so much. It's a game that defecates on the original. The biggest reason is practically the messed up story. They killed Joel in the stupidest way possible, you spend hours doing parkour and looting, you have to spend ten hours as Abby, and you receive a disappointing ending that makes the entire adventure useless.

    I was really looking forward to this game due to the first last of us was my absolute favorite game ever! I have been gaming singe 1996 and have been playing all sorts of games.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is mechanically amazing. The designers and programmers have earned their pay and then some. The story is held together on the good will and solid story telling of the first game. And then quickly destroyed with pandering.

    Many people have said the blatant SJW pandering made the game's story weak and filled it with plot-holes. I disagree, its not that the SJW crap killed the story, SJW issues can be brought into a game with good story telling and plot/character development. its was the writer's need to interject SJW pandering into the game that caused them to tell a good story very very poorly...just like Star Wars The Last Jedi, Han Solo, Ghostbusters 2016 and on and on and on. These could have been amazing movies, but they made it all about the SJW and now all about the story, which just so happened to have alphabet people in it. If it as done that way....many more people could have gotten behind this story line.

    Examples are :
    1.) Not forgiving the guy who genuinely apologized for a snide comment made while he was drunk when he tried to make amends.
    2.) Forgiving the trans char who killed Joel because the writers didn't want to have a trans char killed off. (They haven't said this is why....but we all know this is why)
    3.) The trans char getting raw-dogged like thats how it happens, ...its not. But it can happen when a biological male takes a biological female. It' can't happen that way with biological male on male.
    4.) The trans char speaking in a clearly biological female's feminine voice....no amount of hormones, which weren't being taken anyway, would cause that.
    5.) The awkward lesbian char development.
    6.) The way males and females interact is too.....PC OLICE in nature, that's not how they interact, that is how SJW's wish/think they interact, but its not and likely never will be.
    7.) The over all amount of these topics in the story cut scenes. It just doesn't need to be all SJW all the time. It could have been done with more authenticity and without the need to make the Lesbian/Trans...THE STORY LINE.

    Overall, not a bad game, just another great game killed by the need to make SJW the story, thereby degrading the actual story.Any version three of this game with the trans char is going to be dead on arrival.    … Expand

The few improvements they made to the gameplay are ruined be the pacing of the story because you end up having more clips than gameplay which is a pity because the first game had the perfect balance of this. The reality is I gave this a low rating because the story is trash and because this is a story based game that relies on you being into the story. It has a few good moments but because they kill a character in the beginning of the game then force you to play as the killer you lose almost all interest. Characters act out of character in order to advance the plot and everything relies on you to accept everything is happening by coincidence which is just lazy writing. The game wants you to be depressed and works goes out of its way to reach that goal which makes it just as hard to build up the interest to finish as much as playing as the villain for 10 hours. It’s a basic revenge plot trying to go over the top with its message that isn’t really unique about The despair of revenge.… Expand

    Now I found myself playing part two just wanting to finish the game so I can get it over with. I’ve waited so long as so many other people for this just to be ruined by one person’s political/morale views.

    STORY: Having Joel die for the sake of plot is such an lazy act of writing. I couldn’t even comprehend it happening while waiting for the game to release. As I witnessed his death I closed open my eyes and I had to takeoff my headphones and cried. I was crying for the fact that I couldn’t believe that this was actually happening I waited for years and supported naughty dog for them to sh** right in my face I balled out crying Knowing that the character i respected died like he was nothing. And for that it killed my enjoyment of the rest of the game. Having this take place in three days adds to the laziness. This game is very similar to uncharted in terms of how “action packed” it is in the span of time. It was very believable that Joe had that many encounters while traveling across America protecting Ellie, now Ellie fights a group of 20 people/infected every 10 minutes and is ready to go go at the next moments notice.

    CHARACTERS:
    I do not care for any of the characters except for Tommy and Eli everyone could died and I wouldn’t blink an eye. Having me play as Joel’s killer felt like I was just spat in the face constantly while playing.I remember tearing up when Tess died I remember tearing up when bills lover didn’t want to be with him I remember tearing up when Sam died and his brother killed himself now I could care less. most characters are cringe or annoying. unfortunately the only non-annoying character is Jesse which people might call me sexist because he’s a male.

    ELLIE: what made Ellie special was the relationship between her and Joel, having the father daughter bond or Having them travel across America and her seeing all these monuments and museums and asking these questions on how things actually were before and Joel knowing and explaining and seeing her in disbelief is what made these two characters solid, now when they go to a Monument, Museum or store they always say the same thing “I can’t believe they used to do this” or “I can’t believe they used to do that” haha hehe humans where weird. Now that the connection is gone I just feel like I have to be forced to care about there funny jokes of the past.
    ABBY: Being FORCED to play as Abby during a big portion of the game was not enjoyable at all. The fact that they made her the “female Joel” made me want to stop playing immediately. combat was fun yes, but I did not want to play as Abby I did not want to see her story I did not want to see her feelings because I did not care. For some reason this game try’s to make you understand her, the only thing I understood Was that she needed to die.

    GAME PLAY:
    Naughty dog always was good with game play, but in this game it waste so much time of you walking around during these “game play” cut scenes, That you find yourself bored and just wanting to get it over with. I’m actually kind of disappointed with some of the variations in game play stealth killing people is the exact same Animation over and over again no matter what character you play which is lazy and boring. I found myself having the same exact death animation as well ; getting shot in the head. I did not die any other way.

    Graphics: Beautiful but wasted.

    The graphics are good, the gameplay is ok.

    Con:
    While I never were the biggest fan of The last of us gameplay wise, the story always was a thing which I liked about the game. I liked the character dynamic between Joel and Ellie and how those characters grew together through the story. I also liked left behind. It fitted the overall narrative of the main game.

    The second game however completely fell short in that regard. I was fine that they killed Joel. Killing of characters for the narrative is a common tool nowdays to bring the story forward and the last of us had it's shock moments either - the death of Joels daughter for instance. But I completely disliked HOW they killed Joel off. This is not how a beloved character should have ended. It felt cheap and unnessecary violent just for the sake of violence. That also brings me to my next problem. The game is unnessecary violent. I don't have problems with splatter or violence in games but the game never managed to make me feel violent despite the fact that the violence in the game is really drastic and grim. It simply missed it's purpose as a narrative element.
    That's mainly because the game is as said violent for the sake of beeing violent. Violence does not make a saw move a good mirror for the darkest abysses of mankind, and neither does violence serve this game in that regard.
    If you want a good example how grim violence can bring forward a good story you should take a look at Spec Ops: the Line. Yager did that right with the violence and despair of their mortar scene and the partial degration of the so called protagonist to a full fledged war criminal. The last of us 2 is macabre at best and cheap at worst.
    Furthermore does it feel a lot like they tried to make Ellie more unsympathic through the violence and Abby more symphatic. This does not work and doesn't help Abby as a character very much.
    You have to play through at least 10 hours of the game as a character which is hardly likable and who is despite all efforts of the devs simply unsympathic. I don't care if Abby is trans, well whatever the devs think is appropriate, but I do care if a main character which I have to deal with for half of a game is neither relatable nor likable or at least a decent protagonist or villian.
    Abby is in my opinion simply a bad written unlikable and dull douchbag.
    I also don't think that her beeing trans is adding any good value to the story here the way she is written. There would have been quite a few ways how that could have added value to the story, but like Naughty Dog handled it in this game it simply didn't. If I look at Ellie I think her beeing lesbian would also have given a lot of narrative possibilities, but they weren't exhausted in this game either. There are plenty of good ways to design a good villian and Abby failed miserably in that regard. And so did she as a protagonist.

    It also doesn't help that Ellie does not kill Abby in the end despite the things Abby has done. That makes the end unbelievable and the conclusion unsatisfying. Especially since Ellie is a broken character in the end and Abby comes out of this almost unbothered (by the games standards). But I assume that Naughty Dog did this to set up the opportunity to make a third installment to the franchise with Abby as the maincharacter again. I really hope they don't do that. After this episode I really don't want another the last of us game.    … Expand

Gameplay is good just like the first game's, AI interactions with player is a perfect idea, but that doesn't change AI is stupid like it was in the first game. Story is completely bad, I mean there is few flashback levels of Joel and that's what I liked about story, other than that you get to play as Abby (Antagonist) for understand why did she wanted to kill Joel and show her life, and you can't get your revenge at the end. Like Joel said if he can go back to that day, he make everything again. And I think, anyone who love somebody like he loved her, do the same. Like Abby tried to revenge her father too. But, the biggest (for me) error is they make us play too much as Abby and make us almost kill Ellie.
    For me, this game was a 3rd game. For 2nd game, maybe a Ellie's journey to find out about herself, the fireflies, be angry with Joel, forgive him and more with Joel. Give us some background about her, about Dina. Show us how that small camp grows that big. Something without killing all main characters.
    They make us love a man, a hero and just killed on the beginning in a non human way and worse, making Ellie see all that. Seeing a '' father '' be killed on that way, is brutal. But I have to say something good. 10/10 about graphics, gameplay, music, voice and movement acting, and much more. You can see those actors give life to their characters with love and passion. Ashley Johnson is brilliant and no one can say otherwise with reason. Seeing her passion for Ellie is everything. About Troy... Idk what he felt when he knew about killing Joel so early... But I bet he felt bad.
    I loved that museum part, her birthday was perfect. You can see the shine in her eyes, and Joel was soo happy to see all that. I rated 2/10 about the bad feeling I have in all the game. Anger, sadness, disgust, chills and too much violence, blood and human/animals deaths. The Last of Us isn't about zombie survival anymore. If I wanted to kill humans, I get COD or something... False advertising, naughty dog's version COD in a good graphics = Tlou2

    Desde mi punto de vista se cargaron la historia del juego. Destruyeron los personajes para solo agradar a lo políticamente correcto porque sabían que se cargaron la historia. Es una desgracia que jodan una saga solo por quedar bien....

    Este juego es la representación de cómo no debe de hacerse una secuela, ni cómo se debe de tratar a unos personajes tan queridos por el público, por no hablar del guión que no se sostiene ni por sus propios pies y dejemos a parte el tema del NWO con calzador a más no poder

    Es el mejor juego que he jugado en mi vida, dirían los críticos.
    A nivel visual es impecable 9/10.
    A nivel de jugabilidad no es tan malo 6/10. A nivel desarrollo de personajes de inicio a fin es lo mismo 1/10. A nivel nuevos personajes para encariñarse 0/10.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I should've listened to my friend. Not even a fifth of the way in, my hero from the first game is killed... and in a undeserving way. What the heck Naughty Dog. So after forcing myself to play with an upset stomach, I found myself enjoying the scenery more than the story. That is the only reason this story got a 1. I couldn't pay attention and felt forced to play as a character I had no interest in at all... and had to sit through that nauseating gay scene. (I dont care about gay people, they can do what they want, but I find it disturbing to see any sensual acts from my gender)
    Finally, after all the bull revenge I was about to put Abby through...NOP. She bites my fingers off, and we go our separate ways. The En. Can't even play my guitar anymore. ... WHY WOULDNT YOU LET ME KILL THAT EBIL WOMAN!? Thanks for ruining TLOU Naighty Dog. Whoever wrote the story needs to find a new job.    … Expand

O jogo parece preocupado em lacrar. Se querem passar uma mensagem, não precisam desmerecer quem não acredita nela, isso é patético.
    Em suma: Gráficos razoáveis, sem nenhuma inovação. Não entendo porque a mídia fez todo aquele alarde dando 10/10. Menos pessoal! Foi só para vender?    … Expand

    Disgusting gameplay, all this was in the first part, I didn’t like the characters and theirs motivations. The picture and ditails are magnificent but all the other is very bad.

    This is the worst Sony game for the entire existence of the Playstation brand, with the second part of TLOU in terms of trash, only GOW 2018 and the Ragnarok DLC can compete, it’s a pity that the once great Sony stooped to such rubbish.

    I liked the first game for the story, take that away and this is what you get. The ending was so bad.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
