It is nice for Part 2 to have expanded combat area and polished gameplay.
But there is a huge conflict between the gamplay and the story. Players only want to beat the game to see what's happening next instead of enjoying all the design. And at last , the "what's next" turned out to be gigantic pile of "Scheiße".

In TLOU1, there was a good rhythm of tension and relaxation. Sometime like Joel, I don't really worry about achieving the goal or not.
I kind of understand why the writers took this path. After I finished the game, it's just lazy writing. And too much of Neil's personal stuff sneaked in there. Neil tries to create a perfect Jesus image to be the other side of Ellie, but failed.

This that it has been Spoiled and it turned out that the leaks were true. It made my expectations drop a lot with the game ... I haven't seen anything revolutionary.
The subject of Ellie as I see many media say that we qualify for that is a lie ... It is simply something that we do not give importance to and we focus on issues of Gameplay and History. That Ellie is what she wants to be.

There's a lot to say about this game but I'll be brief.

This game had the potential to be 10/10. There were gameplay elements and visuals that would have been stunning if I wasn't so frustrated, angry and despondent.

The marketing of a game hasn't been so misleading since metal gear solid 2.

Love the artistic and technical, besides their Bugs and glitches (that i've found a couple of them through the gameplay) aspect of the game though. But i think the bad things are bigger, that the positives at least for my personal taste. If you like the first game, i would NOT recommend this product.

"Subverting expectations" by making the game unenjoyable from the plot point standard, doing a disservice to the entirety of TLOU 1 that was written by leagues more competent writers and doing all of that to pander to people that don't even play videogames is exactly how not to make a videogame, let alone a huge budget project that is supposed to be the killer app of the generation. Even ignoring all of that, which is absolutely impossible due to the game being a narrative heavy cinematic experience (a yet another slow paced 3rd person action-adventure with "realistic graphics, which is precisely the only type of games all in-house Playstation studios can ever make, it seems), the gameplay is also worse than TLOU 1 at times. I would like to see how far Sony's reach extends when The Game Awards 2020 comes around and TLOU 2 magically gets a GOTY 2020 award because the fans' opinions never matter to them either. Expand

-Slow opening unlike the exciting opening of part 1.
-Joel’s song about “losing you” is a little on the nose.
-What is the point of the opening flashback only to skip 4 years?
    -Lame teen drama.
    -Dull opening in Jackson.
-Ellie doesn’t feel like Ellie anymore. Where’s her sarcasm and wit?
-Dialogue between Ellie and Dina in general is very stilted and awkward and dull.
-Overuse of the “knocked unconscious” trope.
-Dina is a very dull love interest.
-Convenient writing like Abby’s group having photos of themselves with written names found in a bag.
-More lame teen drama like Dina being pregnant.
    -Constant use of flashbacks.
-Traveling alone in this zombie infested, dangerous world doesn’t seem to have consequences since everybody seems to be doing it like Jesse.
-Even MORE lame teen drama with Ellie being jealous of Jesse.
-Contrived dilemma of needing to go back to Jackson or continuing after Abby because Dina is pregnant. Why did Dina even come along?
-They do another “giraffe” moment with Abby and the zebras.-
-“We’re no better than them” cliché.
-Flashback date with Own and Abby is unbelievably cringe and boring.
-Owen and Abby’s aquarium date mirroring Joel and Ellie’s museum flashback. Tacky and contrived. Be more original.
-The unnecessary sex scene with Owen and Abby.
-Character falling into water and disappearing trope with Tommy.
-The scene with life on Ellie’s farm is very dull.
-I have to round up sheep. Really engaging gameplay.
-Boring flashback with the barn dance. More lame teen drama

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Oh man, where to begin? Neil, what the actual f* were you thinking? Why write a revenge story if you're not going to serve up some cold revenge at the end. So let me get this right, its ok for hundreds of other soldiers/cult members to die in pursuit of Joel's killer, but when it comes down to finally killing Abby she grows a conscience? What were they thinking? Did they honestly expect everyone to be cool with that ending?
When I started playing this game initially I remember telling my friends that I don't get what has people so upset about this game. I did a good job of avoiding spoilers prior to playing it. I was jokingly telling my friends that literally the ONLY thing that could potentially turn me against this game is if they try to turn it into a morality lesson of "revenge bad, durrr".
Then halfway through the game you suddenly switch to Abby and I thought this has to be a joke right? Did these devs honestly expect people to be cool with playing Joel's torturer/murderer? Did they honestly expect a little backstory and context to make me NOT want to kill her. She could be a freaking saint that saves a whole boat full of puppies and I'd still want her to suffer and die. You can't just open with her horribly killing Joel, who everyone had a strong emotional connection to and people have been reminiscing about for seven years leading up to this. Everyone was exited to finally catch up with Joel and Ellie after all these years, only to have Joel get snuffed in the first couple hours. Now, I would be ok with this as it really sets up the players boundless hatred towards Abby. I thought it was an effective way of making you feel Ellie's rage and lust for vengeance. But this needed the payoff of enacting that vengeance in the end. This game gave me the catharsis equivalent of blue balls.
I even thought the game pulled a fast one on me when Ellie and Dina retire to the countryside and everything is super idyllic, which lead me to believe that Ellie would drop the quest for revenge in favor of love. Then when she decides to set out to finish what she started I cheered! "Sneaky game, making me believe we wouldn't get that satisfying conclusion" I thought. Well played! I honestly unlike many others wasn't seriously mad at this game until the very end. Death by a thousand cuts and drowning seemed like a pretty cathartic way of ending Abby. Then....nah...actually revenge is bad and sorry to all those people that had to die for me to get to you Abby, but oh well. Byeeeeee!
If my fiancee hadn't been asleep next to me on the couch I would have let out an agonized scream at that point.
My question is, did Neil Druckmann honestly think people would be on board with this? Was he surrounded by yes men during the whole production? Did't anyone take him aside to say "hey Neil, I don't think this is such a great idea. Might piss off a lot of people and effectively Last Jedi our franchise into the ground." But I guess nobody dared to speak up and we ended up with this train wreck.
Honestly, I don't think a game has ever affected me in such a negative way. I have been feeling this ball in the pit of my stomach, feeling depressed and angry for the last few days now. Wishing I'd skipped this one now.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I want to start out by saying this was no where near the worst game I have ever played. In fact some parts of the game are actually really good. But for me the gameplay loops with the humans npcs and the writing in general didn't make for a fun experience. And honestly I disagree with the idea that the game is too bleak but mostly because the writing, imo, doesn't earn that emotion. I hope to say what I liked that keeps me from rating this game lower and then go a little bit into why this game just didn't gel well with me and was at times a chore to play.

I think the flashback sequences were really well done and brought back much of the feeling of the last title. And I do wish to make it clear that I came into this title as a fan of the last game, But they present a bit of an issue that will be gone over towards the end. I love the new infection types such as the stalker and the rat king and felt they were the most tense parts of the game. And I felt the end level of the game played much like ending to 28 days later where you unleashed an infected or two to thin out the guards. I love the subway are where you can pit infected against the gangs out to kill you. Moments like those worked and I loved them a lot. What doesn't work was everything else.

The flashbacks, imo, should have been the opening to the game let us get back that feeling from the last game and then you kill Joel as it would have more impact. As it was the flashbacks seemed so random and out of place. I also don't like Abby as written because she doesn't make sense compared to Ellie in that Ellie has PTSD and yet Abby doesn't? And Abby going from a one track tunnel vision person to being altruistic after the deed is done just doesn't happen in human psychology and you need only to look at studies on the aftermath of families who attend the execution of someone who killed a loved one to know that you don't just go back to normal you
after something like torture and killing people. I am sure some military Service people can back me up on that. So it takes me out of the immersion when Abby seems to walk away mostly fine but it's
Ellie who is damaged. I mean even that doctor lady who was with Abby admitted to hearing Joels screams in her sleep and yet Abby is just fine? Ellie has nightmares about Joel but Abby only ever dreams of her dad and often not in a PTSD kind of way? Does this make any sense to anyone else?
And that's really the rub. The story and plot conveniences tend to fall apart the more you think about it. Ellie's in trouble oh look Jessie just happens to be near by. Abby in the sight of the sniper Let's just have Manny show up out of no where.I could go on and on with the number of times I was taken out
of the story but I won't. When I am fighting to survive against the infected that's when I was immersed
anytime after that I felt taken out of the story and found my encounters with the human NPCs to be boring. I know others disagree and feel the infected sections were the boring part but I guess different strokes. I also felt a bit lied to as the cult that hated LGBT seems to be so little of this game
when the marketing made it seem so much bigger then it was I thought they would be who we fight
through out the game and we didn't. I don't understand the advertising choices.

Now as I finish this off notice I made no mention of politics or Abby being trans or implied to be. My own daughter is trans so this was never an issue for me. Abby isn't bad because she's implied to be trans she's bad because her character arch just doesn't make sense and it made for moments when I should be crying into moments of Meh because the writing is so disconnected with what's on screen
that it's hard to connect to those emotions that the game wants me to feel. If anything the politics
and trans and gay rights issues are just so small that it's the least of this games worries. So much
so that I don't mention them till now because they didn't really effect anything in either a good or
bad way. You could honestly take them out and lose nothing from the story. And that's why I rate this
so low. Not because of politics, not because of youtubers but because I played it and just found
the game to have some bright spots but a lot of just baffling spots that just didn't add up to an experience I had hoped to have coming off the last game in the series. And as I close this out I want
to say it's not as bad as I was lead to believe it would be, It's not great by any means but it needs so
much more work especially on the Abby character. If they could tighten that up and keep the infected then maybe a third game will make me love the series again. Till then I just can't really recommend this game.

Without the solid narrative and relationship between Joel and Ellie the first game would've been an unremarkable, though fun, adventure through another post-apocalyptic world. After finishing the Last of Us I never wanted another game with similar gameplay, I didn't even want another game in the series. When they released The Last of Us II I ONLY bought the game to see how the story would continue. Unfortunately, the story is essentially a rushed cash-grab with surface level themes like "Revenge is bad". I hope I'm missing some hidden message in this mess but it doesn't seem like it. Don't buy this game for the story. If you buy it, buy it for the gameplay and graphics or else you'll be disappointed.

There are so many different ways they could have taken the narrative arc that would have been better than what we got with this. Never seen such manipulation through narrative choices which force the player to do things which they wouldn't want to do in a game. The darkness of the majority of the first game made the lighter moments between Joel and Ellie all the more poignant. The development of that relationship made the first game. There is none of that character development in the second game. This is just a nihilistic, depressing slog through endless violence disguised as high art. After all that, you are rewarded with a completely ridiculous and unsatisfying ending.

The death of Joel is the most troubling aspect of this game. Not that he dies, but the way in which he dies. Having to play as his killer for a portion of the game fails to make the gamer feel sympathy for the antagonist. It feels cheap and manipulative. Forcing content consumers to dwell in the murky greyness between good and evil seems to be a recent theme in entertainment. The disrespectful end to Joel’s story has a very familiar feeling to it. The destruction of all that came before to make way for agenda-driven narrative is a well-trodden path for entertainment content creators recently, most notably with the horrendous The Last Jedi. I'm not talking about any of the SJW stuff that many others have mentioned, although there are many boxes ticked here. The agenda I'm talking about is the one rampant in much of modern entertainment that seeks to divide the audience as much as possible. Beloved movie and tv shows have been utterly destroyed by this agenda of divisiveness recently. There are too many to mention by name although I've already mentioned one of them above. Its almost as if someone is ordering creators to make the most divisive entertainment imaginable. This would certainly be in line with the wider world, especially in politics, which has seen increasing division recently. Whatever happened to making universal stories that resonate with everyone?

People should ask themselves why creators are making such divisive content and whether they want to continue to fund this practice. The best art will always reflect the hope inherent in the human experience, no matter how dark our experiences on this planet may appear at times. The first game has hope as the core emotion. The sequel doesn't resonate on a deeper, visceral level as its bereft of hope. That's why I think if people were honest with themselves they would realise the majority of praise for the game is only intellectual in nature.

I won't be buying a PS5 after playing this game and I certainly won't be buying any other Naughty Dog game in the future. If this is the future of gaming then I'm out.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game was highly anticipated by everyone and without a doubt it should be because of how great the first game is. However, because of that big burden and expectation it is carrying, it is also a curse for the game. Players expected so much and rightfully so we should be! However, when you play the game you will see a big different from part 1 to 2. Below is my pros and cons.
    Pros
Voice Acting – amazing, I think this is where they hit the mark.
Music – a good balance of music and soundtrack used. (Not the best but good for the game)
Sound effects – I feel it used right elements to bring the game to life with its sound effects
Graphics – this is kind of mixed for me. At one point it looks amazing with facial expression on point, but another looks dull, lightning is bad, part 1 looks more beautiful and some motion capture is stiff. At best I can honestly say its just plain good and not great, still get a positive for me.
    Cons
Story – This is were ND blew this game, I know that they were successful in shock value. I was shocked to know that Joel died but man it was executed poorly. Look at how Aerith died in FF7, the music, the sacrifice the pay off, it is all there. But TLOU 2 just killed a main character with no pay off and no meaning behind it. I am OK with killing Joel but do it the right way like a sacrifice for the better good or something. He is out of character; everyone is out of character. I understand why a lot of people put 0/10 as score because the first game is full of story while this one just fell flat.
Characters – Dull, unengaging, out of character. Some parts are cool, but it will not make the whole game for me.
Gameplay – it is OK at best but the reason why I put it here is because it is the same old gameplay. Minor changes that is boring. The last “boss fight” does not feel like any boss fight. This game is not revolutionary, and we have a lot of zombie games out there, RE 2 is whole lot better than this. TLOU distinction from other games was the story but sadly this was ruined. I like the guitar playing though I find it cool.
Bugs – Too many bugs for it to be a masterpiece, this I cannot understand why the hell it got amazing scores. Bugs like missing character models and teleporting characters… for a AAA game it’s a shame for it to have this.
Total for me 2/10 – This game fails so bad in story telling that all the good points will be forfeited. Some might still like it specially those who has no attachment to the first game but even if you did not pay the first game you will be dumbfounded by their decision and character choices. Not a fun game, just all hype and big disappointment.
Stay away from the game. If you want to play it, rent or buy it second hand.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’ll start with the positive then proceed with the negative.

    Positives-

The graphics are excellent. I would slow down my gameplay just to take in the scenery.

    Negatives-

The game play is repetitive with very few new enemy challenges.

This game was delayed and still had bugs where people would spawn often right beside me.

The characters you play don’t develop. They are mostly angry, bitter, and thoughtless, but for a few moments of humanity.

You have no options to make decisions which makes it feel like your forced do things not in Ellie’s character. I would sit there and not press the button the game was indicating I press. Its the first time playing a game I thought, this is miserable. Unfortunately, it’s just a downward spiral for her character.

Abby is an unlikeable angry person who cheats with a guy who’s girlfriend is pregnant. He’s an unlikeable POS too. Their whole group is unlikeable. Being forced to play her character was not fun. I rushed through her sections of the game which unfortunately is a huge part of the game. She does one good thing and I guess we are supposed to feel like she has been redeemed. Nope. Also her father is a unethical doctor who didn’t inform his patient he was going to kill her before being he put under anesthesia. Abby is an angry sociopath and her deceitful father got killed because of his own horrible decisions. Joel prevented Ellie’s murder.

It was apparent early on revenge will take more than it gives. But that is the core of the story and repeatedly reinforced ad nauseam. This drives the plot to nowhere. Nothing was gained by the experience. We literally end with less family, less digits, less purpose than when we began which I understand is the point but what a disappointing experience. Its like GOT or the SW trilogy. When your ending is bad it ruins everything that comes before. I replayed the first game twice. This game has no replay value.

We get the point. Revenge is bad.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is an excellent game because the characters have story arcs. They change and develop and realize life doesn’t have to be misery. This game begins with misery, with some misery in the middle, a blip of hope, then a strong miserable ending.

In summation. Excellent job and creating a graphically beautiful game. Boo for releasing a game with bugs still in it even after a delay. It’s misery and depression with amazing graphics.

It lacks the magic of the first game with no real spark between the characters and the established characters making unrealistic decisions to seemingly only push the story forward in a certain direction.

    Graphics & visuals = excellent
Gameplay = serviceable but dated & becomes a tedious grind
Sound and voice acting = Excellent. I thought the actors did really well despite not having very good material to work with. I wish some of the weapons had more punch but for the most part the violence and action was really visceral thanks to great sound.
Tone and mood= Morbid and dismal (in a cool way consistent with the world and story)with not enough to offset the general misery to make it enjoyable.
Writing = Awful. Had some good ideas but executed them so poorly that you felt that they bent established characters to fit the story and the new characters were bland, shallow and unlikable (except V in my opinion). I thought Ellie was well written except for a couple of stupid and downright out of character decisions (which no doubt were written ahead of time to allow the story happen).
Story - terrible with the whole effects of revenge dichotomy ruined by one half of the story apparently totally sweet and getting catharsis after revenge with the other being emotionally tortured, haunted and losing everything despite "doing the right thing" in the end.

Also it was just plain boring and dull. After the initial shock and anger at the death of Joel, the frequent flashbacks and changes of perspective ruined the flow and pacing with the gameplay becoming a real slog by the mid-point of the game. Some parts were tense and scary with some cool moments but they were few and far between with no great character dynamics like the first game to fill the void of mediocrity

    **SPOILERS**
They (the Fireflies) took Ellie with the intent to kill her for the possibility of a cure and didn't give her a choice. Imagine that was your Daughter (or surrogate) and ask yourself if you would have not done the same thing in Joel's place? The **** up thing is that if they had taken them aside and asked Ellie if she was willing to make the sacrifice, she probably would have agreed - Joel be damned - and she would have been able to convince him no matter how much he hated it.
The fact that the story tries to paint Joel as a piece of **** suggests that they think that's how stupid people are that they would not have noticed this GLARING issue. And Abby's dad never did give an answer to what he would do if he was in Joel's position? Abbey trying to justify Ellie's murder for the greater good does NOT appear to convince him. I still had a sliver of hope for the story when I noticed that bit of nuance in the flashback. I hoped that Abby would at least come to terms with the fact that what she did to Joel was **** wrong given that she KNEW Joel's perspective as a Father figure to Ellie who was about to have his child murdered.
Yeah she NEVER had the high ground and the story makes no attempt to address this at ALL. Instead Ellie is painted as the vengeful piece of crap for wanting retribution for the murder of evil Joel.
    WTF!!!
Abbey gets to float away into the sunset levitating in a shroud of virtue despite torturing and slaughtering a helpless man who saved her life...Yeah **** Abby. That **** was never called on what she did and the game made no effort at showing any ramifications for her personally, This is why the story failed. If it showed some internal struggle on her part and some fall out with her friends that they were not OK with how things went down then it would have gone a long way to allowing us to empathise with her.
What kind of **** up family were these writers spawned from? You can tell that this game was written by childless nihilists. No parent would attempt this story without at least exploring this aspect. Yet they still payed lip service to it as if to say that it was not a point worthy of any real attention.
And then they dare to moralise and preach revenge bad with Ellie while Abby got to revel in hers. Meanwhile Ellie loses EVERYTHING despite "taking the high road".
Yeah the story was a colossal failure for me.

I can understand why someone could like this if you are not bothered by Abby if you believe she was righteous and therefore you believe that Joel 'got what was coming'.
Also you would have to be OK with Ellie deciding not to kill Abby despite already demonstrating that she couldn't live with the image of Abby gleefully smashing Joel's head in after torturing him to death...she did go back for her again from the farm. Why did she cut her down btw? Joel was helpless when he was beaten to death. It makes no logical sense why she wouldn't want to finish her on that cross

One title crushed it a few years back and another title is brand new: both are made by the same company. One game had terrible reviews, the other game has sold over 2.5 million copies. What to do? I ended up buying both after wasting my money on the Last of Us Part 2.

My review: The Good; Bad and the Ugly...

The good - you can tell immediately that the characters are more agile. The graphics are amazing and the controls are very responsive: almost perfect. The people who built this game did a fantastic job in every way. You will not be disappointed by the games technical game play.

The bad - you are constantly reminded you are on a linear track and unable to jump over a two foot bush to get to a location just after climbing up and infiltrating a military installation.

While I have only begun this story, the emphasis seems mainly on human vs. human as was with the first version. So far, the infected creatures and their traits do not seem to be as daunting or scary as in the first game. So, for people who have not played the first game, you really should consider this masterpiece.

The ugly - have you ever been out with two other friends and because they romantically like each other, you feel like the third wheel? Or, have you ever been out with two friends and one of the friends likes you but the other friend is trying too hard because they either like you or the other person and are getting in the way of just having fun?

Unlike any other video game I can recall, there is so much emphasis and attention spent on the relationship between the main character and their partner that it interferes with the game play. It is so bad that at times when I need to be focused on being stealthy and hiding behind things, I cannot because the partner is interfering with my movements and affecting the outcome of hostile encounters.

With a winning story and excellent programming, this title was destroyed by someone in the marketing department who wanted to plant a flag: reflected in the negative reviews out there in the public.

Bottom line: Wait and buy this game second hand because there will be many copies available. In fact, I will be happy to sell you my copy. lol. I am just kidding.

Most of all, we are all socially distancing now and looking for things to do: Playing this game is not one of those things unless you are getting paid to play it.

    Final analysis....BORING

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There are several reasons why you should avoid this game. I`ll evaluate this for you in the most objective but complete way I can, so you can see how this game was massacred. Please note that I loved Last of Us 1, and loved the DLC. I`ll talk about the technical, and the propaganda at the end.

    -> The Good part:
    a) Graphics are awesome, no problem there. However, most games nowadays have amazing graphics and sceneries that live us in awe, so I don't think that "good graphics" can redeem anything. But yeah, they are good.
    b) Gameplay was kind of fixed. The first game has stiffy gameplay to me, but it worked. They polished the right places and it feels better. Again, not a redeeming factor. In no way, this gameplay stands out from any modern game. Additionally, if I am going to compare to newer games, it is still far behind what it should be.
    c) OST is fine, audio is top-notch. What you expect from big-budget titles.

    The Bad. Be prepared:
    a) Supreme, epic, god-awful story. It is like they ripped the script of TLOU 1 and tossed it into the fire. We all expected that something bad was going to happen, and we were fine with it. After all, Joel stormed into a base, killed everyone, and ran away with mankind's cure in its arms. Yeah, well. Joel was dumb down in a horrific way. It is like he is nothing in this world. His death has no meaning. Ellie, by her turn, was more mature in TLOU 1 than she is here. The story does not feel like an epic adventure you start to be surprised, no, it is about random, non-meaningful acts of violence to shock you. But again, they have NO MEANING. They will shock you sometimes, but you will just be sad to see the scenes, they will not appeal to anything. Some people liked it because "it is like real life". Yes, but this is still a game. We expect that these kinds of scenes to build up to something. But in The Last of Us 2, they are there because they had no idea how to write a story. Thus, they took the lazy road, shocking you instead of bringing you content that would make you think, like the first game. Plot holes EVERYWHERE.
    b) The characters. They are hollow. They have no depth. I have no idea how could someone say "great characters" in their review. You will feel nothing for any character in this game. Hollow, boring, uninspired. Even Ellie lost her maturity in this game. Joel became a dumb person. It is sad for me to say this because the first game knew how to build them. They feel like those Walking Dead characters that appear in one episode and die 2 episodes later, where they make a 15 min flashback of their past to TRY to give you some feeling but fail.
    c) Abby. Those who care about Abby being muscular and etc are just ignorant fools. Who the hell cares? The problem is how they handled her. She kills Joel, a beloved character, a death with no meaning in this game. But how, in the Nine Hells, are you supposed to like playing with her for HALF THE GAME? They try to picture her as a good person but fail. You CANT build empathy towards Abby for three reasons: 1) she kills a beloved character; 2) the writers and the director FAILED in providing Abby with a solid background and origin story to make you understand her; 3) she goes after another beloved character. Writers and director... you failed this character, it is not because of who Abby is, is what you built for her in-game.
    b) The conclusion. The conclusion of this story is not consistent with the whole game. The conclusion is something I would expect from a Pixar movie or a child's book. "Killing is bad". "Vengeance will not bring him back". OH PLEASE. Ellie killed hundreds of people to achieve her vengeance too, in the end, let Abby go because "vengeance leads nowhere". REALLY? Well, writers, I guess that the 100 people Ellie kills are nothing them. They are manikins, balloon people. Their deaths mean nothing then, The only important life is Abby's life. Want some real world? If someone would feel guilty and have a conscience crisis, it would have come IN THE BEGINNING. Ellie would kill people that she would realize had NOTHING TO DO with Joel's death and had a crisis right there. She would see in the first 1-3 kills. NOT AFTER 100. Not, in the end, facing her friend's killer in the face! That how these kinds of crisis work in the real world, go read about it. Hence, the EPIC conclusion for this game is... KILLING IS BAD. Abby gets her vengeance, Ellie does not. Why? Because the director wanted.

Finally, everyone talks about SJW propaganda. And yes, it is there. So now let me explain why it is handled badly. These topics are important for the real world, yes, they are! But guess what? For the world of LAST OF US, they are not on the top of the list. Thus, in many moments, it feels out of place. You see they just tossed in there because of agenda. No gamer would care about these discussions if handled properly! Go learn from BORDERLANDS 3 how to make amazing diverse characters.

    Don't buy this game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Well, today I finished the walkthrough
THE LAST OF US PART II. My anger and disappointment knew no bounds. PLOT!!! No, of course I understand that we need a strong motivational tie, but to kill Joel at the beginning of the game is simply disastrous. And now after his murder we set off to avenge! The plot is based on this.
We kill almost all of Joel’s torment, and contrary to the majority, I watched with pleasure how Ellie kills them all one by one (besides this, I calmly reacted to the fact that Mel was killed and she didn’t care that she was pregnant). But something happens and at the end of the game we leave Abby alive without killing ourselves. Frankly, I felt anger and DISAPPOINTMENT !!!!!! I don't care that Abby suddenly has a boy / girl whom she decided to take care of! Eye for Eye Tooth for Tooth! I would gladly drown her there, for Joel and Jesse without regret.
What is **** ?? Forgiveness? Good? To hell! I do not believe in it! You go, so go to the end !!!
Further, the characters are well developed, however, Naughty Dog suddenly became representatives of SJW!
Are you guys serious ?! Homosexual relationships are disgusting and not acceptable! Women belong to men, and men belong to women, period! And call me what you want! Each girl is my potential wife, until it is proved that she has a boyfriend / husband. Yes, I am selfish and you girls my happiness will not give you a lesbian evil!
Our second main character is Abby. Seriously? I was not saturated with her special emotions. She killed Joel let out of revenge but killed and I wanted her to die the whole game !! And the fact that she saved some kind of seraphite does not change anything. But really, thanks for being at least heterosexual.
The gameplay has changed little from the first part; it is pretty not bad but outdated. the character’s modifications and improvements are made in such a way that you don’t pump everything in one pass, I personally didn’t really like it. It would be better if for the second passage I would quickly open all of them.
The graphics are incomparable here everything is super, the music is also beautiful.
The conclusion is that due to the fact that Naughty Dog suddenly became representatives of SJW, the game gets 2/10. For graphics and music.
Naughty Dog change and give without this LGBT ****!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Sincerely, when you start the Last of Us 1, and watch trough Joe's story, the death of his daughter. The pain he had to endure, but then hope and destony knocked at his door, he had the opportunity to love and raise a new daughter , you fight fore her you teach her, you train her so she can survive in a difficult world, as a father, is such a powerful story. Definitely Joel would sacrifice all humanity just to save those precious feelings, just to save that single soul. Such a powerful message. I had been waiting for a sequel for so long, where I finally see Elie, find happiness, where she could have love and care, understanding , to find a family and start a new life away form the horrors of an apocalyptic world. Maybe with Joel as a father or as a friend. All the Hope's I had were simply crushed. Ellie is not nice, she is bitter, cynical and stupidly rebellious just like an annoying teenager who doesn't get what she is into. Very different from the self aware kid she was when she was younger, she is, by imposition, a lesser version of herself very emotionally dependant. Which is very contradictory to her abilities. Joel, who sacrificed humanity for her is just a bad memory, non important. The story concentrates in selling a Walking dead approach of multiple characters stories, but forget to be strong in the main ine. By weakening the main' storyline the only achieve shallowness. The lesbian relationship is so shallow and imposed, with no real motivation that just falls in annoying. The game play? Just doesn't Add anything new. But with more humans with different ways to be killed, which can be totally ignored if you just play your way through. You will be looking for materials and throwing Rick's, bottles and so in just as in the first game. And pressing the command to listen just as Joel and Ellie did in the first game. I dont really care about gameplay for this game, if only Ellie would have had the chance to have a good resolution or grownth as a character. This is just disheartening, sad, for all the fans who loved the first story, to see Ellie turned into an expression of what media wants: an enraged confused teenager who is mad about society..My advice? Buy the game when it gets to 20 dollars maybe in two months. Expand

Every time it switched to Abby I wanted to turn the game off at the same time Elie wasn't that fun to play with either. by hour 5 I felt like I was just doing chorus and I just wanted the game to be over but I stuck in there to see if this story had anything up its sleeve. Just make genuine characters and don’t sacrifice characters for political agendas like Disney has done with Star Wars and the original trilogy Star Wars and prequel trilogy Star Wars characters. This is pretty much The Last Jedi all over again. Smh. The way I rate out of 10 is, 5/10 is I don’t really like it or dislike it. 0/10 is the worst possible thing. 10/10 is the absolute best possible thing. This game gets a 2 from me. I really hate it, could even be 1/10. Accounting for gameplay I might would give it a 3/10, but because what matters most in a game like this is the story, it gets a 2/10 from me. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. first off. i did not buy the game i watched the whole playthough and honestly the gameplay looked good and graphics look good but the story in a STORY DRIVEN GAME... it sucks badly, this is what happens when you let a feminist man hating person like Anita Sarkeesian influence your game, Joel dies at the hands of Abby for seeking revenge (not even a heroic ending not even no last words for Ellie no "i love you Ellie" nothing just straight up dead like he presence didn't even matter in first game) Jessie a new GUY that you'll quickly like.. dead.. Tommy loses an eye and gets divorced from his wife, and the worst of it all Abby is the ONLY one in the game who gets revenge, thaaaat's right... at the end of the game Ellie gets a chance to kill Abby and DOESN'T EVEN DO IT. its like watching Avengers end game and tony snapping his fingers at thee end and dies but leaves Thanos alive.. or or its like avengers infinity war when Thanos snaps his fingers and half of the universe is gone and.. that's it the end, no sequel.. honestly i don't see how 42,000 people can give this game a positive review i don't see it, and the reason why people hate this game is not because of the lesbian stuff that is in it, we watched Ellie kissed a girl in a dlc and kissed another girl at E3 last year and people still pre-ordered the game until the leaks came out and saw what happen to Joel.. the reason why i'm giving this game an awful review is because this STORY DRIVEN GAME HAS NO PAY OFF AT THE END.. NONE. i would say rent it first, and then if you like it then you can waste your money. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of all, there are two reasons why i give this game a 2 instead of a zero and those are:

    - Performance of the voice actors
-The beautiful looking game that the team created.

Those people deserve praise, but this is all i can give because that's not the whole game, sadly.

Now to the parts that i especially hate, because if i would talk about everything, 5000 characters wouldn't be enough in a game that has bad enough writing to rival Game of Throne season 8.

    - The Last of Us Part 2 Joel. This is not the character we were introduced to in the first game. Don't even try to explain it to me how Joel would ever fall into a trap so easily, and then (even though he knows he is a wanted man) announce his name in front of unknown armed people who heavily outnumber him in a sitation where he can't escape. The real Joel, that was written by competent writers, would've never died in such a disgraceful way. He would've died after tricking everyone in that room and after making sure that Ellie is safe.

    - Ellie. She hunts down all of Abby's friends and brutally murders all of them, even the ones who saved her in that situation where Joel died, which is can understand and accept. Then she proceeds to beat up Abby even though she loses 2 of her fingers (i will talk about that later) and almost drown her, where she suddenly has a flashback about Joel, where he talks about how he would kill everyone in that hospital all over again for her... and that's somehow a reason for her to let Abby go and live happily ever after. No comment, really, it's stupid. Revenge is bad, but somehow Abby got to have her revenge and just leave. Oh, and she is now gay for the sake of having gay characters in the game.

    - Abby. I don't care about her. Joel killed his dad, wow, very interesting, i'm sure 100% of the people in a zombie apocalypse has a worse story than that. Then we get to watch AND play her while she beats the crap out of everyone we love... It made me feel sick.

    - Ending. So... Abby gets to leave after killing Joel, Ellie gets crippled for no reason other than making us try to play on the guitar and realize that she can't anymore AFTER she realize that Dina left her because she went to kill Abby... but she didn't even do that so Dina left her for no reason... Tommy gets crippled as well, his girlfriend leaves him and the last thing he knows is that Allie don't want to avenge Joel anymore, he has no more appearance in the game after that... So in the very end Ellie leaves the guitar because she can't play on it anymore, she loses the only thing that could remind her of Joel and then she leaves the house to go somewhere, we don't know where because that's where the game ends. I can appreciate an ending where they give us the possbility to think about what happened afterwards, but i don't want to think about it. What's next? Ellie finds everyone and tells them how she got crippled in order to not avenge Joel?

Absolutely terrible writing, it makes me want to cry after playing such a wonderful game like the first Last of Us.

Most of the time you see uninspired cutscenes with poorly written characters you feel no empathy to or aimlessly walk around empty spaces. The game would benefit from being twice shorter, I think then they could polish it and get rid of the repetitiveness, but even that would not save the mediocre plot.

the gameplay is fine, It's improved since the last game, BUT! do not think that would make it worth it. half way through the story I would have given it a 70%. 50%: for gameplay 20%: for story.

This game fails on that front. Big time I'm afraid.

The gameplay is similar to the previous game and it feels dated to me. There are minor upgrades on things like melee combat, but it doesn't feel like nearly a decade has passed between games. Everything is very clunky and the AI is memeworthy for the most part. When you combine this with poor charcterisation and less-than-enthusing story, it adds up to disappointment.

The graphics look fantastic, and ND deserves a good deal of credit for that.

In summary, if you enjoyed the first game mainly for the gameplay and graphics rather than the plot and characters, this might be for you. Personally I can't recommend it though.

Without going into spoilers, the entire set of main characters comes off as unlikable, the plot that drives their actions forward is so simplistic a highschooler could have written it, and the dialogue is just... bad. There's simply nothing left to feel attached to after the first couple of hours, when you realise the characters you came to love in the previous game are either not the same anymore, or not there at all.
So, once you take the narrative elements out of the equation, what's left?
Predictably, not much. The gameplay is the same affair we've been seeing delivered by Naughty Dog since the first Uncharted, i.e. mediocre AI taking pot-shots at you from behind chest high walls, while you try to do the same to them. The "stealth" is equally unimpressive.
Motion capture also felt off at places, which is actually weird given the budget and development time this game was afforded. You'd think for a flagship franchise like this, they'd have taken more care to avoid entering the uncanny valley every time a character opened their mouth.
And to finally say something positive, and justify those 2/10 points I gave it, the graphics are pretty damn good. If you want to take a glimpse at what the next gen games are going to look like, you should take a look at this game. It really does look amazing.

So in conclusion, I can only recommend this game if you fetish is staring at stellar quality graphics. If your priorities lie anywhere else, you'll only be dissapointed.
