    Oh that storytling... after you made everybody hate Joel, you made the same thing to Ellie. She seems more like a maniac that needs to be stopped. It's a hard thing to play a character you hate.

Especially the part of the game with Abby (which is long) has the player wandering around scavenging and occasionally shooting zombies. Never has a story been less interesting. Personally I skipped almost all cinematics because I didn't care about the origin story of Abby or whoever irrelevant character.
    The graphics are good, but nothing of an improvement compared to the first game. Make yourself a favor and do not spend your hard-earned money on this compilation of irrelevant shooting sequences.    … Expand

The characters (especially Joel) changed completely and made stupid choices. The political agendas were obvious and distracting. Abby is definitely the worst playable character in history. The worst part is being forced to play as this unbelievable character after she butchered one of the bests. They need to flush Neil or Naughty Dog is doomed.… Expand

Над сценой смерти Джоэла заплакала бы и макака, они просто убили главного персонажа первой части. Эта игра нацелена на женщин?! Нас хотят растрогать тем, что Элии убила беременную женщину, которая бросилась на неё с ножом! Да, после того как нам рассказали историю Эбби и её друзей, этот момент приобретает краски, но чтобы мы эти краски увидели, нам нужно было пройти огромный пролог. Видно что разрабы черпали вдохновение из Убить Билла, но вместо сильных женских персонажей, тут же паразитирование на первой части, финальная сцена это вообще бой двух баб в грязевой ванне. Рассказ истории флэшбэками уже не новый, и довольно грязный приём. О трансах в постапокалипсисе вообще молчу. Было очень опрометчиво брать Хелли Гросс как второго сценариста, а может Нил прогнулся под меньшинствами.

    Забыл упомянуть про часть, где Элли и Дина живут в доме, от этой части у меня ж*па порвалась на британский флаг. После всего того что она пережила в первой части, во второй, после смерти Джоэла, после того как Эбби её чуть не убила, они нашли **анный загородный дом без зомби, ПОЛНОСТЬЮ ЦЕЛЫЙ ЗАГОРОДНЫЙ ДОМ, И ЖИВУТ ТАМ СЕБЕ ПРИПЕВАЮЧИ! Это просто мечта любой 14-летней лесбиянки, но это не влажная мечта лесбухи, "ЭТО ИГРА ПРО ЖЕСТОКОСТЬ". Когда началась часть с Джоэлом я надеялся что это всё её сон, и на самом деле она лежит в больнице в городе Томми, или типа того. Но нет! Это всё происходит на самом деле. Это просто п*здец, простите за мат, но у меня нет других слов. На этот понос предлагают смотреть мужикам, которые час назад крошили черепа и вспарывали горла, со стороны Элли такая-же претензия. В итоге это не та Элли из первой части! Это смазливая девчушка, которая просто хочет жить со своей девушкой в огромном доме, без намёка на каких-то там зомби и всё такое. Очень хочется надеяться что это дело рук второго сценариста, а не Нила Дракмана, ведь если это Нил, ему пора купить такой же дом, и жить там со своим мужем.

    Ставлю тройку только за геймплей, отлично от сюжета.    … Expand

    I really like the story but the gameplay was poor optimized and like when you try to get on the roof game won’t let you go except the way that game want like I try to jump on table but I can’t then after a while ellie jumped on the fence and I forced to unlikely play the game until the end

This game is great visually and naughty dog did well on the technical side of the game, but the story was awful. Not only did they destroy the main character from the first game in more ways than one, you play some she hulk for half the game. It’s fine they wanted to take a different direction in this game but could have done it in a better way. Big fan of the The Last of Us, but part two destroyed this franchise for me.… Expand

    The graphics were top tier but the gameplay and combat mechanics were far too similar to the first for me to consider this an improvement especially with the time it took for this game to release. Other than that, the story and key plot points were unbearable while playing and forgettable after playing.     The game has amazing graphics and outstanding acting performance by the actors. However, the story is complete garbage. Its full of plotholes, illogical character decisions and all characters stay completely falt throughout the story. All in all a very bad sequel to the original

Если я буду рассказывать все аспекты моего недовольства, то выйдет очень длинный текст, так что в 2 словах. Огромноя проблема по-моему состоит в том, что разработчики обманули игроков, они сказали, что Джоэл жив, они показали ложный трейлер, а всё потому что игроки догадались раньше времени за это уже можно снимать у игры балла так 3. Но основная проблема не в этом, скажите мне почему нельзя было дать выбор в конце? Многие игры так делают, все вы были довольны можно было бы убить Эбби и нет. Этого не сделали, потому что хотели показать игроку куда приводит месть. Но концовка от этого бы не поменялось Элли бы всё равно осталась одна, некоторые скажут: "она не хотела становиться последней мразью",но я не вижу ничего плохого в том чтобы отомстить за любимого человека, если бы игроку дали выбор, я бы смело поставил 9 баллов… Expand

    Lastimável, essa é a palavra, um game que criou uma legião de fãs com a obra prima que foi o primeiro, decair tanto com essa sequencia.

    Graficamente a game é lindo (talvez o mais bonito do PS4), a física do game é disparado a mais avançada dos games que já vi (trabalho impecável), mas só.
    O ponto forte da franquia é a história e é nela que o game é um caos, lastimável!

I dont understand why I am buying politics in the game and that wouldn't even bother me much if there was actually some heart. Forgiveness? The final act weighs down the game after everything or everyone tou could care for are already dead. I wanted to love this game. Hell, I do love everything about the mechanics and graphics, but that cant make the experience any better when there is such a lost storyline and characters that are not engaging to your audience. I feel like if you write positivity about the game you believe you are some rebel to society and doing social justice, but at the expense of what should have been the best game of the year. I want to understand what happened here and I want a different game with the characters I enjoy.… Expand

El juego es una joya SI, si eres de mente abierta tal vez te agrade la decicion final, pero a mi en un principio me desagrado, mi yo de fondo decía ¿Encerio el sujeto que acabo con todo un grupo de caníbales, que acabo con muchas luciérnagas junto con la reina luciérnaga etcétera termino así? Para mí fue una muerte FORZADA.
    El jugador llega a simpatizar con abby pero abby no simpatiza con el jugador.
    No me desagrada la muerte de Joel solo me desagrada el hecho de que yo esperaba una muerte digna y no tan forzada o mínimo donde le dejarán luchar como con Tess por qué Joel era el más duro de todos los duros.    … Expand

    This game was a narrative mess. Beautiful graphics though. Played half of it, then when the characters switched I couldn't force myself to continue.....deleted then sold the game.

    i missed the feeling of emptyness just like the first one, and i dont see joel's decision would've made me hate him the world took everything from him so he took everything from the world and i dont care about abby, her father, her crew and lev.
    And story is all missed up i was the whole time saying "what the hell is going on?" Like when ellie killed owen and mel who helped yara, ellie killed owen the guy who's close to abby's heart after her father?? And lev killed his own mother the one who's close to anybody in this world's heart even if she used to shout at you. He killed her and told abby to let Ellie go like she didnt do anything.

Long story short, the story is FULL of plot holes. I mean my brain was hurting with all them plot holes. Its just a mess where the guy that wrote the plot just wanted to tick EVERY SINGLE thing on the political agenda list. Its just so sad to see such a prolific title with so many fans since the first game to destroy everything its predecesor just built. The rest of the game is a solid 8/10 with amazing music, graphics, enviroment, lighting, enviroment and pretty much anything else. Gameplay is fun and enjoyable even though the AI, with enemy people specifically, is not bad but not great either. So all in all the game without the story is a solid 8/10 to me but the story is so terrible that i give it a 3/10 at best.
    P.S. please FOR THE LOVE OF GOD just stop putting agendas and politics into games, i dont play games neither for those two, i play games for the fun and maybe to learn some things. OR AT LEAST if you gonna make a game about political correctness just do it right so atleast the plot makes sense.    … Expand

But the story was utterly butchered thanks to the new 'direction' they took the game. Killing an essential character that everyone loves (Which also was on the box art and everything to make believe that you would actually play as joel.) pure for shock value is such an weird way full of plot-holes is bad. Really bad. Rewriting Joel's character to make him trust strangers is weird and didn't feel like a man that survived as much as he did in the first one.

    Overal: graphics 10/10
    gameplay 9/10
    story 3/10 because the beginning parts were nice.

    Dopo la morte di Joel, la voglia di vendetta e di vendicarlo ti assale e il gioco ti prepara per viverla.
    Il problema inizia quando inizi a vivere la storia da Abby; vani tentativi di farti amare un personaggio banale e odioso, con una caratterizzazione che ti porta a fartelo disprezzare da subito.
    Personaggi importanti che muoiono senza manco un minimo di focalizzazione su quanto accaduto.
    Un gioco che per quanto lento sembra non finire mai e che non ha un degno finale, ma tutto il gioco si può riassumere con "come se non fosse successo nulla".
    Grafica e dettagli di altissimo livello che vanno a scontrarsi con un IA non proprio "Intelligente" e cambi di dinamiche di gioco per cui non puoi essere minimamente pronto e ti obbligato al morire al first try.
    Il finale penso sia il peggio possibile, neanche immaginabile prima di giocarlo.
    Il voto che do si riassume in:
    9/10 le prime 10 ore;
    1/10 il restante gioco

    These three points are given for excellent graphics.. the rest of this game is a joke. no likeable characters, horrible story, extremely repetitive gameplay, the game is way too long, and they completely take away the warmth, beauty and hope the first game had in between all the dark.

But the story itself and the decisions characters make, kills everything that's setup. Taking the choice from the gamer to kill Abby or let her go makes the whole game, the whole journey of the characters totally pointless.… Expand

Then Ellie ends up not even getting her revenge at the end and the make you play as Abby and you can't kill yourself. Is pretty rough. This game has the intention to delivery a story where it failed. It gave us graphics and gameplay. The horror aspects were great, but a game that was made and advertised for story based elements then fail to deliver has no right to be Game of the Year. They should have done a game where you play as just Abby first before her dad died really build the character development and have this be a 3rd game in the series. The gameplay is good but it's nothing I haven't seen already. The graphics and atmosphere is where this game shines. I disagree with the critics on this heavily.… Expand

I don’t know about anyone else, but I play video games to be entertained. In a way, playing is an escape from my daily life, or something that I can do that is fun that helps me relax. I think that this is the case with most people. I can’t see any entertainment value in a game as brutal and bleak and depressing as the last of us 2. I don’t want to feel depressed and angry when I want to unwind by playing a game. I understand that some games want to elicit some emotion from you to bring you closer to the story and make it more immersive, but they went way overboard on this one. Naughty Dog will turn around and say that it’s groundbreaking storytelling, but that’s a load of BS.

    I understand that the development team was trying to go in a different direction and capture different emotions from the user than they did with the first installment. This direction was a complete and utter failure. All I ever felt while playing this game was disgust and depression. It’s so dark and bleak, and I did not find it entertaining at all. I’ve only played it once. By comparison, I have played the original last of us at least a dozen times.

    I guess the biggest thing that bothers me about this is not the fact that they made a very polarizing, bleak, and depressing game that angered a massive portion of their fan base; it’s that they pretended like they didn’t do anything wrong and that the game that they created was made of pure gold sprinkled with Atlantis dust. The developers came off as very arrogant and elitist.    … Expand

No playing as her was the last thing we wanted. Nobody felt bad for her to beat joel with a golf club. Worst sequel ever played. And I remember when you deleted bad comments thats so mature. Yoy can't have a site where to review games that are bad or good and not allow bad comments. Just to get a game to have good reviews thats bull.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. this game has just left me with a feeling of emptiness and heartbreak . the terrible story line just seems like a waste of the spectacular graphics and gameplay . it had so much potential . naughty dog could’ve turned this into another great game although it would’ve still been hard to top the original . however , just like real life , not everything can have an interesting story line and ending . people that mean something to you die and there are many painful lessons you have to learn ; just like ellie and abby . i suppose the game did teach the importance of dealing with your emotions in a healthy way , particularly grief and pain . there is nothing cathartic about revenge (this is already portrayed in the beginning when joel is killed) you can tell that abby didn’t feel good about killing him . all it caused was a spiral of many more unfortunate events and both girls lost everyone they cared about ; all to learn just how disappointing revenge is . in the beginning , i was just waiting for abby’s death but at the end it wasn’t even satisfying watching them fight . it was emotionally exhausting . the entire game didn’t feel right with joel being killed off immediately (and in the most degrading way possible) i lost interest in the plot . it’s such a shame , but the lesson provided here is very important .… Expand

    Contiene muy buena jugabilidad, excelentes gráficos, es muy entretenido pero en la historia se quedo muy corto el juego, inclusion forzada y te obligan a usar un personaje que odias desde un inicio por lo cual toda la parte en la que utilice el personaje odie cada segundo esperando que terminara y del cual se prolongo por muchas horas.

The gameplay and graphics are decent, but the narrative is what totally destroys the experience, from the prologue you can see how they dispose of one of the important characters from the first game in such a horrendous way and the supposed lesson Ellie learns in the ending doesn't make any sense.

Unlock a few doors, delete some generators and make it more clear where you need to go.     They've absolutely destroyed the story of the game. I know TLOU1 had some story alterations before it was finally released, but at least that story made sense as a whole.

    TLOU2's story doesn't make any sense. None whatsoever. Everything feels forced and has an agenda.

    Just a quick overview (spoilers):
    - Start the game where the previous one left off. Remember everything you've gone through to get here.
    - Immediately erase all of it. Joel walks into the most obvious trap ever and gets brutally murdered. Ellie has to watch him die.
    - Play a bit as Ellie and Dina, which all feels pointless, but at least we get to see the technical side of the game...
    - Play as Abby for HOURS, while we just want to walk her off a cliff. The writers know very well we don't care about her, but they think that forcefully playing as her for hours will change that. It won't.
    - Then there's not one but two confrontations between Ellie and Abby, and I remember shutting down my PS4 multiple times, trying to gather the courage to finish this section of the game.

    Naughty Dog have created the smoothest and best looking game of the PS4 generation, and yet I feel completely disconnected while playing it. Maybe the writers will say: not every story is meant to have a good ending, you don't have to like it to enjoy the game. I agree. But I wasn't looking for a likable story. I was looking for an involving one that made sense, and that didn't force me to do things that make absolutely no sense every five minutes.

    It just makes me think that Naughty Dog had no clou how good the story of TLOU1 was, maybe it just ended up like that by chance. Or maybe they were actually good story writers but got completely carried away in TLOU2. Either way, I wished I've never played TLOU2. I haven't touched the game in 2,5 years and I probably never will again. For anyone who ever played TLOU1 but not yet TLOU2: keep it that way.    … Expand

    I bought Part II in 2020, even knowing of the 'Joel death scene' leaks. I had faith in Naughty Dog as a newer fan. Since then I've been married, raising a daughter, and moving on with life during Covid-19. I have attempted to love and understand this game's story for the past few years now and with thorough research and analysis of this product, my only and ultimate conclusion is that this game is absolute, social pandering, manipulative, narrative trash.

    Story: I feel like the writers either did not understand what the vast majority of fans liked about their first game or they just made stupidly over-bold decisions in the name of "creativity". The narrative pacing and the constant jumping around timelines is way too exhausting. By time they were showing me the context of a previous scene hours ago, my emotional investment and focus had already moved on. Abby and her dad could have been a really cool concept, if it was implemented very differently. Killing off Joel was not the problem, it's how they handled it. It was done so disrespectfully and out of character for everyone involved. They attempt manipulate me into liking Abby, the most irredeemable and unlikable character I've quite possibly ever played in a video game. I can't think of many characters in all of media that I dislike more than Abby: replies "good" to the opportunity to kill an unconscious pregnant woman, engaging in an affair with a father to be, killing off her entire group of friends with little remorse, helping Lev because her life was saved while just prior she had no hesitation killing Joel immediately after he clearly saves her life from a zombie horde. I never liked her and I feel cheaply manipulated throughout this whole game having to play her. It wasn't done right whatsoever from a narrative perspective.

    Technical: The only reason why I didn't give this game an absolute 0 is because of the rest of the team that actually gave me an awesome product that I did expect. They worked really hard, apparently too hard judging from the news of bad business practices by Naughty Dog. The visuals playing on the PS4 Pro were some of the best I've ever seen. The gameplay mechanics are definitely a welcomed upgrade and the expanded accessibility options allow me to fine-tune the controller for being disabled. I'm also appreciating this work which was transferred to the Part I Remake for PS5. The whole Seattle open-world section I was very impressed with. The guitar playing, animals, environments, sound effects, music, added violent realism: all quality driven and very welcomed.

    This is primarily a story-driven video game. Without a compelling (and coherent) story, it is purposeless to produce, own, or play. In fact, after a while, I just stopped playing the story altogether and I only played the encounters. I've gone through it several, several times and I just can't anymore. It is so boring and bloated. I don't actually mind the slower pacing, but the timeline-jumping is like a schizophrenic teenager telling me an unrealistic story who has never stepped foot outside in the real world and tried to survive. Between Abby's body build that you'd mostly achieve on a meat-hoarding, testosterone diet while competing at the CrossFit games for years and pregnant Mel doing rope climbs on security patrol with a rifle and a backpack equipped, I don't think the people at Naughty Dog understand much about facts and reality. I could also tear up every other character in this game as a shell of their former self, or shallow, or morally atrocious while trying to be convinced otherwise, but that idea is just too exhausting because there's so much that went wrong here. I could expand upon the fact that every plot point only exists by pure, miraculous coincidence, but again, exhausting.

    I really, really tried to like this game...

    I actually hate this game and I wish it didn't exist. I am personally considering nothing past Part I as canon material. This game is irredeemable, narrative trash. So fitting, being released in 2020, I think...    … Expand

Unfortunately, that wasn't the game we got. The promotional material for it was misleading as were most of the articles about it. This game is 90% about unrelated characters who had no part in the story until they were tossed in, here. The game mechanics have no noticable improvement over the first game, nearly a decade ago. The writing hinges on "OOH, I"M SUCH AN AUTERE -- YOU DID ALL THOSE TERRIBLE THINGS IN THE FIRST GAME, DONT YOU FEEL LIKE A BAD PERSON?". I mean. No. As a player, I have no agency in TLOU. Those are all narrative decisions made by the writing team. They're the ones who chose to do terrible things and indulge in torture porn. Also, saving the life of a child who was given no say in their future is hardly a "grey area", even though Druckman (a man who clearly thinks a child belongs to the sate first and the parents second) implies that the choice is a dirty one which has inherent guilt, leading to the deserved ending of that character.

    Everything about this game was terrible, except the voice acting, music, and some of the graphics. But the meat of the game itself and everything surrounding it was just a huge let-down. I do hope that Druckman is finally called upon by Hollywood to go make movies. . . and never returns to video games.    … Expand

OK, I can handle it, its just a game, ok maybe Ellie is going to do cool stuff and avenge Joel. And then I had to play as Abby. Nope, stick a fork in me, I'm out.

    Whoever is doing the writing for this game, it feels like Ryan Johnson is their spirit animal because I could not continue as Abby. I'm done with the franchise. Maybe I should've read the spoilers, I make it a point to ignore them, but the story was enough to override the game and make me regret buying the game. All the new characters were boring and I couldn’t care less about any of them. All the female characters look like **** purposely created to be unattractive. The gameplay barely improved and you’re forced to fight more which is one of the weakest parts of the game as I play largely for the story. Unfortunately, the story is terribly written here as well. It’s basically someone’s angry fan fic. Let’s destroy everything we love from the first game and leave you with no feelings of satisfaction, that’s what gamers want! Don’t waste your time playing, just watch someone else stream it if you can stomach it after the first couple hours. Just realize it never gets better. 2/10 fingers.… Expand

    The gameplay is great. They have really evolved since the first installment. To bad they force feed you woke-cookies throughout the run. It’s so extreme that it ruins the game completely. I want a good story, I don’t need to be lectured by a game. Can’t recommend to anyone I’m afraid.

And it's ND who kills Joel in the way he's killed, defenseless and disgraced. Why present us a character we have to play for about 6 hours as an ungrateful coward who draws pleasure from hurting others? And it makes absolutely no sense to let Ellie and Tommy live in that moment. ND just does because they're needed later to continue a bad story. And they do this again at the end to be able to use Abby in part 3 which I won't buy.
    It's ND who makes the player do all the violent things, because the player has no chance of playing the game other than ND wants them to. And then try to make the characters we love look bad for all the violence they've done? I felt nothing after Ellie killed the pregnant Mel. Why should I? The game gave me no chance to handle the situation differently. Jesus this story sucks. And a girl who likes dinosaurs ends up with a girlfriend called Dina - seriously?
    The Last of Us is now the game series that has both the best and the worst story in gaming. Including the most unlikable character you've ever played. The game mechanics are better, but who cares if the story is bad? The technical aspects are a 10/10, but who cares if the story is bad?    … Expand

    Technically speaking, is perfect, best graphics i ever saw in a videogame. But, the story is far from its predecessor.
    Its very, very dissapointing.

I found myself turning it off out of frustration more than anything. The Gameplay feels almost tacked on to the story, its ok to be frank, I didn't enjoy most combat sections.     Don't get me wrong it is pretty and somewhat well designed but for a AAA title, not so much. This is where the good kinda ends. The story is badly written and poorly executed in my opinion. And i'm not even talking about the current views and spoilers doing the rounds. Just the Established characters are off. Things are very filler oriented, character empathy is forced and strained.

    Controls in the first game were almost the same but smoother. The upgrade paths are linear and very 'static' in TLOU2.

    It is such a polarising game, some people wont care and 'fan boy/girl' and say it's amazing, but seriously, the standard is slipping.

    2/10 graphics do not a 10/10 alone, game play and story matter too.    … Expand

What ruins the game is that Ellie almost looks like a man, yes she is lesbian, fine we get that, but why make her LOOK like a man? I don’t get that, even her voice, it’s like this rough sounding lesbian woman and okay that maybe fits a lesbian woman but it’s too much and it’s simply not the Ellie I remember.... And then Joel suddenly dies by the hand of this woman?... man... woman who looks like a man? Yes, a woman who looks EXACTLY like a man! And then you HAVE to play as HER HIM! For almost the rest of the game, and I would get that if she/he was a lovable character but she/he isn’t, I hated her/him for the entire game, so that was absolutely awful, playing like that. The story ruined the whole game. The music wasn’t good either. The first game left me with this deep feeling inside when that last music started at the credits but this... there was NOTHING... music was bad, ending was meh...

    I completely forgot. they promised we wouldn't have to kill dogs but guess what... we have to kill DOGS! So unacceptable!!! And why the lies??!!    … Expand

    7 years later and all that’s changed is you can crawl and a jump button that belongs on PS1. It’s the same bottle throwing stealth and loot repetition from the first. No improvements just the same. Graphically it looks great so that’s where it gets 2 points.
    Story wise it’s a disaster. This is the last Jedi of videogames. It’s a postmodernist Retcon with a political agenda.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
