    Truly unique! One of the most intense experiences I´ve had with art ,because yes, this is a freaking piece of art. It makes you feel very angry and very happy, it warmly hugs you and then destroys you completly. Its one of those things that will take you some time to get over, and thats why its fantastic. And I cant help saying how happy I am about all the LGBT representivity and theTruly unique! One of the most intense experiences I´ve had with art ,because yes, this is a freaking piece of art.     This Game is a masterpiece, one of the best games I've played. The gameplay is awesome, the story is fair and really touching! Naughty Dog is an incredible studio. Don't be influenced by haters, judge by yourself and try to understand the moral involving the characters. Few games could demonstrate the variation between styles like TLOU 2. You should play this for sure!

    Many games work off their gameplay with story as secondary. The innovation in TLOU was its story, melding cinema-quality story-telling with bursts of engaging gameplay. So good, there are 4-hour edited "movies" of it. This game could have been good. They could have made Abby a villain and she would have been a 3-dimensional villain. But they played her as the protagonist and failed. IMany games work off their gameplay with story as secondary.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. My biggest gripe being Joel's death. It felt so undignified. He was acting all out of character, and his brother. I am not mad that he died bc it was bound to happen with him being that "mentor" character. But the way he died made no sense. Lets look back in the first game. It was established that Joel is a seasoned survivor that is not very trusting of new people. So much so as in running over a stranger who was calling for help in the streets bc he saw that it was a trap. He was very careful and cautious of basically everything.

    All of that was absent in this game. Him and Tommy just trusted Abby's group and told them their real names. No sense of caution, or carefulness even though they were all about that in the previous game. They made them stupid and killed Joel for no reason other than plot convenience. They needed him to die so Ellie can have a revenge plot. On top of it all, they had the audacity to make us play as Abby for half the game. Why would we want to play as her? She was so boring and uninteresting. We came for Ellie and Joel, not Abby. It's like when in Halo 5 you played as Locke for more than half the game when everyone wanted to play as Chief. I would've been fine with his death if we at least got to play Joel and didn't kill him so quickly. The trailers were so misleading, implying Joel would have a mush more import role in the story and selling a completely different tone than what was expected. And I know they wanted to "subvert expectations" but this was an example of a great concept but very poor execution and has The Last Jedi vibes.

    Lastly, the ending sucked. Ellie should've killed Abby. It was established in the first game that Joel was the most important person in Ellie's life (she even said this). And for her to let Abby live and basically save her, it's like that wasn't present. I guess she forgot. I know they were going for a "revenge bad" theme but when you killed EVERY SINGLE person in Abby's group EXCEPT Abby herself felt so damn unsatisfying. What even was the point of this game? What did they spend 7 years on? Clunky mechanics and a half-made story?

    I didn't like this game. The graphics look OKAY at best but nothing really impressed me. The level design was poor and felt really handheld. How convenient as we walk through a ruined city that every single window is boarded up except the ONE window the game wants me to go in. Mechanics were almost the same as the first game but somehow felt more clunky. Most of the side characters are either boring, useless (looking at Dina), or both. Again, what did they spend 7 years on? I would've given this a 0/10 at first but after collecting my thoughts, I'd give it a 2/10 bc the game was at the very least able to run.    … Expand

    save your money. IT will be 10 bucks in a couple of weeks. I cant believe that naughty dog has gone this woke way and destroyed what could of been an amazing franchise. Hopefully this is a wake up call to all the other studios thinking about making a game with pure wokeness

    Having just completed the game yesterday I today made a Metacritic account just to express my feelings about this experience. I had huge anticipation for this game going into it with no knowledge of leaks or spoilers and I can say it starts out fantastic. Joel's death evoked emotion and was certainly a catalyst for me to want to keep playing, wanting justice for him and closure. (But it was completely out of character for Joel and Tommy to reveal their names and settlement so easily to a group of strangers) Exploring Seattle as Ellie was fun and felt nostalgic to the first game but this is where my praise for The Last Of Us II ends.

    They then throw you into the shoes of the one who brutally tortured and killed Joel and try to make you like or even care about this character and from here the pacing of the game also falls apart. Suddenly you get tons of pills and parts as Abby (I played on survivor so I was used to scarce supplies.) This made game play as Abby feel halfhearted as the sudden resource explosion rushes you down her skill paths and weapon upgrades. But here's the thing with playing as Abby: I DON'T CARE. It was disappointing to play such a huge portion of the game as a character I have no feelings for. I was always asking myself when can I get back to playing as Ellie or at least Tommy, someone that I actually care about. The further I played as Abby the more disdain I had for her. Holding light that maybe by the end of the game we'd get to see Ellie finally finish her. I hoped that Ellie would kill Abby cleanly and not torture her to show she's above that, but what we got instead was horrific.

    Making you actually attack and choke out Ellie was heartbreaking, that whole fight should have just been a cut-scene because I had no want in actually playing through its scripted sequences. After this the ante has just been upped: Abby has now also killed Tommy (at this point you see her shoot him in the head so have no idea that he'd survive) and Jesse.

    OKAY *Takes breath* Can I finally play as Ellie now? Yes, but let's just skip the whole journey south to California, throw in some generic baddies at the end (Rattlers) and wow we're here as Ellie in our long awaited confrontation with Abby. Finally is this the moment I've been waiting for and slogging through all the previous Abby game play to get to? Would this be the redeeming factor to this game and the final closure needed? No. Ellie let's Abby go after everything. But before that happens they tease you with letting you stab a knife into Abby and then begin to drown her. I wanted to give Abby a clean death but as the knife was lost at this point in the fight, drowning will have to do but nope the script takes over and Ellie let's her out of the water at the last moment. Wow...

    A better ending would have been to finish the drowning and then have Ellie bury Abby with a makeshift cross rather than just leaving her body. That would have been justified and a good closure to the game. Lev is plenty capable of surviving without Abby and this would leave it open for DLC or the next game as Lev waking up and finding Abby's grave but not remembering what happened.

    I guess I can take solace that the prisoners did say Abby was bit, so if that's true she'll die soon enough but is that proper closure? Not for me. Sorry.    … Expand

    If you have played the first game and liked it, then most likely you will hate this one. If by chance you have never played part 1 then you might love this game. The story of this game is absolutely garbage. One of the worse games I ever played. Just wow.

    So far I am only a few hours in and have not been disappointed. 1,000% heart broken by what Abby did. Had to take a break and accept what happened. I finished part 1 four times and I'm really enjoying the depth Naughty Dog has added to the story. I read a good amount of the reviews and you can tell not every person posting touched the game. I believe this game is with the times and is aSo far I am only a few hours in and have not been disappointed. 1,000% heart broken by what Abby did. Had to take a break and accept what happened.     Truly a masterpiece from Naughty Dog! A deeply satisfying conclusion to Ellie's story, accompanied by some of the most amazing gameplay ever in a PS4 game and incredibly polished graphics.

    Cool game. Cool story. Great respect for the developers.
    You get a lot of emotions from the game. Excellent technical performance. Incredible battle animations, blood physics and facial expressions. Well-designed locations and the atmosphere of the post-apocalyptic world.

The story starts off exceptional but progressively gets worse, this is mostly due to randomly placed characters who really serve no purpose. As a standalone game, I would rate it higher but since it is a follow-up game to "the last of us" it truly is disappointing from a narrative perspective.… Expand

    Technical aspects are a 10/10. One of the best graphics of this generation. The story is about revenge and different perspectives. It a dark and heavy game that happens in a harsh world, this themes of this game are made for you to reflect not to escape from the real world.. One last thing for the haters this is The Last of Us.. not The Last of Ellie and Joel.

Just imagine, for years you are waiting on the next chapter of Nathan Drake's story, finally it comes out, you buy it day 1 only to realise that you play as Cameraman Jeff's son for 10 hours straight...     We waited 7 years to get some Agenda thrown at us. The characters dont act at all like in the first game, not because they grown as a character but because the story wants them to. This game is the worst stuff I played in the last five years.

    Naughty dog for the sake of being edgy, has lost a lot of fans of the Last of us. Abby was just the worst character. Instead of making a satisfying tale of revenge we got a complicated and boring plot about an eye for an eye and last minute change of hearts.

I just finished the game and I'm heartbroken. Joel and Ellie's optimism from the 1st game were thrown away and you FORCED me to play as the worst character in game history, WHY would you think anyone would chose to play as the person that killed a beloved protagonist?!?!     Now the negatives:
    -The game is WAY WAY too long and for no good reason. Everytime I thought the game was reaching its climax another uninteresting side-story would rear it's ugly head. If a lot of this narrative fat was trimmed then the game would be a more enjoyable and concise 8 - 10 hour experience. -All of the main characters are extremely unlikeable. Furthermore, TLOU2 wastes time trying to incur the players empathy for these unlikable and disposable characters.
    -Plot holes abound
    -The game forces you to play as characters for which you have little emotional investment. -The gameplay has marginally improved since the first game. However, 7 years have passed since then and there should have been at least some innovation. You won't find any here
    -The story comes across as unfocused, padded, unnecessary and lacking in genuine human emotion.
    -The games narrative themes is unsubtle and 'preachy'
    -The less said about the abysmal ending the better...

    Long story short, skip this one and pretend the franchise ended with the first game...

    In an evaluation where gameplay is worth 5 and the story is worth another 5 the score is 5 for gameplay and 0 for the story, with several questionable points the story is disappointing and unnecessary for fans of the first game, I dare say that even a disrespect after 7 years of waiting.

In other words, the feelings when you are inextricably linked with the game , experiencing the events, emotions, feelings of the main characters are what you should get from such kind of games. So that’s it! You will definitely find these aspects in The Last of Us 2 like in no other game!

    Throughout the story, which was very cool revealed to us from both opposite sides, you ask yourself questions like “What would I do in this situation?”, “If I could change something, would I do otherwise?”. All the emotions that come with these questions are priceless. You are disappointed, happy, proud, surprised by the actions of the main characters.

    The coolest thing is that the story of the Last Of Us 2 highlights the fact that everything is relative. The line between «good» and «evil» or “right” and “wrong” is often very difficult to distinguish. In many difficult situations you make decisions based on limited information. Often you make decisions that may seem right at a given time. That makes you think about it and move these questions into your real life. It hurts that people are only guided by their expectations of the game. I can't say that I’m an exception in these aspects. However, it‘s important to understand that all those issues for which the game is criticized are in our real life: LGBT, masculinity of female characters etc. It’s an integral part of our life. Why in the world of Last Of Us it had to disappear? Instead, you should ask yourself: why do I feel this way about this game? Please, score the game considering not just your expectations but based on all aspects of it. The low score and sales, by the way, could cause the rejection of the next Last Of Us part.

    Summing up, I would like to say that I definitely advise to play the game till the end of the plot! This is a very interesting, emotional story, which is accompanied by a great picture and atmosphere. The game will not leave you indifferent. So do not pay attention to the score! Just play and decide for yourself at the end of the game.    … Expand

    They make a RANDOM CHARACTER (Abby) that kills joel right at the beginning of the game and then THEY FORCE YOU TO PLAY AS HER FOR HALF OF THE GODDAMN GAME!
    They try SO HARD to make you like Abby and feel bad for the Random Character that killed Joel?? And then she gets away with it, fk you and fk your agenda Neil Drunk Man. You made me wait 5 years for this hot garbage.

There are 2 possible reasons for those who are saying the story is terrible. 1- Prejudice/discrimination, the game talk about (and show) LGBT issues, but they don't try to push it on your face, they do it naturally. So, if you are okay with that you definitely should play this game asap! 2- Didn't get the main point, after Joel's death, everybody gets angry, we want to kill Abby so bad, but when the game makes you play with her seeing all she had been through, everything makes sense, you can't hate her. There's no heroes or villains in this game. The game is about revenge and what it could possibly do to us.… Expand

    Just finish the game! I heard a lot bad news about this game before I bought it. But I think the story, game-play and graphic is truly amazing. I can understand some people don't like story because it's dramatic and intense. But this can't deny it's still an awesome game. I hope people don't mislead by the score and really experience it by yourself.

It seems as if Ellie is unable to hold a meaningful conversation with any other character, including her girlfriend. I also found the aiming and gun mechanics to be wonky at times. Where do I even start, how about the part where Joel is tortured and murdered in such a inappropriate way to send off this character. This man was part of the driving force behind the first game, a person who you become so invested in because you see the tragedy he has gone through, and to just off him like that is so lazy, Joel survived for 20 plus years being an idiot?? Yeah i don’t think so, not in a million years would he trust those shady people to begin with. And let’s talk about having to play as his killer for HALF THE GAME. I feel no sympathy whatsoever for this piece of crap character, everything you do as her is so pointless because you are just following behind what you already did as Ellie in killing of her friends. It’s like the developers had no clue what to do at all, they wanted to make the game longer than the first so they make you play a game twice as long as the first as some Macho man looking girl who you couldn’t give less of a crap about. And the way the story ends is so un satisfying. Ellie gets crapped on all game and in the end when she’s gonna get her moment, the writers think you know what? As if we haven’t made this game bad enough, let’s let the antagonist of the game who murdered such a beloved character, yeah let’s her live like get outta here with that dumb crap. There aren’t many pluses to this game, the gameplay is beat for beat the same exact gameplay as it was 7 years ago, so there nothing new and exciting there. The character design for some of the new characters introduced is so hideous I can’t stand to look at some of them, namely Abby who looks like a freaking ogre. But if I had to give a positive, obviously the graphics are stunning, that’s pretty much a given since naughty dog have a good track record with that, but saying that graphics doesn’t mean good game, you want more examples of that just look at every EA game ever. Another positive I have are the Joel and Ellie flashbacks in the game, that’s what made this series was those twos relationship and I wish it was more focused on that. There’s my review for this game. If you are a long time fan of this series I would strongly recommend you do not play this game and just look on YouTube if you want to see what happens. To people who are new to the series you’ll probably have an ok time with the game and not understand some of the story issues people are having with the game because you haven’t played the first, so to you I’d say spend your money on something more meaningful like the first game if you really want bang for your buck.… Expand

The strongest characters turned into weakest ones whom you want to slap hard to get over themselves and get **** done. Obviously, no happy ending is possible all things considered, but it could have been executed so much better. The characters we got to know in TLOU1 are left in TLOU1, cause TLOU2 has nothing to do with them apparently. No more characters or relationship development. Ellie is the most depressive, moody and plainly horrible to Joel. She did everything to leave him behind, between her attitude towards him until the very last moment when she let Abby go.     Beautiful game. Gave me the closure I needed for the story from the first one. It was amazing to see the story in so many points of view. VERY heavy on story and light on gameplay would be my only complaint. It was fantastic though. Seeing a story that didnt involve me battle royaling or competing was a breath of fresh air.     The franchise is all story and this is a game with a terrible story. The game does have lovely visuals and better than average game play, but the story takes all this away !
    The story tries so hard to force you to feel sorry for people that you immediately don’t want to feel sorry for they are really just unpleasant people.

    Le gameplay est intéressant, plus efficace et intuitif que dans le 1, la visée au départ semble pétée mais donne un réel sentiment de difficulté et d’accomplissement quand on réussit un bon tir. Il aurait pu être plus varié à mon goût.

    Les zones ouvertes sont grandes, les décors sont oufs et mis en scène avec brio mais on oublie rarement qu’on est dans un jeu couloir.

    Graphiquement, c’est une tuerie, le travail sur les textures, les lumières, le réalisme et les animations est bluffant et prouvera qu’on pouvait faire de très belles choses sur la ps4.

    Au final, malgré les points forts, j’ai purement détesté ce jeu qui est pour moi une hérésie et vient gâcher tout le génie du premier. Après je comprends que certains ai adoré, à défaut d’être un bon jeu ça reste une expérience vidéo ludique rare et très travaillée, sans concession et faite avec le cœur. C’est surement pour cela qu’il déchaîne les passions.    … Expand

The game and cinematics showed us a story not anymore about Ellie and Joel, but a society instead. The last of us became bigger. Podria decir que lo que fallo fue en como acomodaron la historia, creo que si hubieran empezado con la campaña de Abby, y en medio de eso la muerte de Joel, para terminar con Ellie, cuidando además las motivaciones y los dialogos entre los personajes podría haber sido incluso con la misma historia ser algo mas aceptable, y por Ultimo dejar al jugador decidir el final de la historia eso hubiera hecho epico este juego. no lo califico mas bajo simplemente porque entendí la historia, pero no me gusto la estructura de la misma. por lo demás me parece que sin ser un juego de 10 en los demás aspectos deja un sabor muy amargo hasta detestable a muchos fans de este juego.

Not a bad game which a lot people are saying and thinking but compared to tlou 1 is an average game. If I didn’t really personally enjoy the gameplay this game would be a 6 but I think otherwise. I watched a lot of videos detailing the story and it’s plot being bad but I never once questioned it on my first play through I just simply thought the game wants me to feel this way about it and I think I’m right in that regard. I understand the hate and, as I say, it would be a 6 if I didn’t love the gameplay and the expansive linear areas within the world but imo it’s great but definitely NOT better or even close to better than the first.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 7 long years, a couple insane months, yet I held hope. I thought hard and realized that I need to give this game a chance. I do believe that the graphics of this game were mesmerizing, even the most simple animations and lighting were very impressive, the dodge button was also a delight about 1/3 of the time. The gameplay besides that is SO BAD. The first time Ellie jumped, I was astonished. Like, how can Ellie overpower grown men but can only hop like 2 inches, who knows. Everything else is basically exactly the same. The gameplay areas are a little more fluid but the gun play is embarrassing, slowing everything down in the process. The characters were so boring that I didn’t even remember half of their names. THEN THEY REMOVE THE PUZZLES (they should have done the opposite and made them more challenging. Maybe take advantage of that hilarious rope LMFAO so impressed). Joel dying is all good and well, but really, wtf? Need I say more regarding him? No, everyone agrees. Playing as a new character that I don’t care about, okay I’ll do that I guess, but SHE NEVER DIES like dude what. Everything was for nothing, now there is going to be the last of us 3 and it will be embarrassing. All and all the good was overshadowed by the constant feelings of either anger or boredom, oh ya did I mention the game is insanely boring? Should have been a 10-15 hour game which is disgusting. Also at no point did I dislike this game due to the SJW agenda, I don’t care, it doesn’t bother me but what does bother me is journalists saying that is why people dislike the game. It isn’t, that is probably 5% of people who hate it. I only hope DLC comes out so NOBODY buys it. How many people buy the DLC will be the deciding factor on how the community actually feels about this game. Sorry not sorry. Wasted time, wasted money, hopefully I can return this junk of garbage somehow.… Expand

    I was ready to love this game, even with the leaks, I tried my hardest, but this game is such a disappointment. It betrayed everything LOU was, cheap plot, boring characters, ridiculous deus ex situations, and the worst part? They are trying to defend the users' score by using the homophobic card. Cheap.     What I think about the unbelievable good critics' score, is that they just can't give it a bad score, because if they don't like it then they'd be homophobes, and haters, and probably even nazis...

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
