    Rate is 10 because of crazy haters, real rate is 8. This game is really gives me unusual expirience. I didn’t like looking at events from both sides at first, but then the second part of the game became much better for me than the first. The second part presented a new narrative experience that was not there before. I did not understand the ending right away, for this I had to remember the game and look for answers, because the reason for the act was much deeper than other similar moments in the scenario.     Just finished the story. The Last Of Us didn’t need a sequel is how I feel. Solid game though, how can you not play it when there’s so many emotional ties connected to the first game.

    It's amazing. If you liked the first game, you will like this game. If you say you don't, please stop whining about a story that was different from what you wanted to see. Life is hard . Considering the gameplay, everything great about the first part has been kept and improved. It did a great job at pulling you really into that world.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After 7 years of waiting i thought the life of Joel and Ellie would be presented to us with a meaningful and compelling story.
    Instead of that i finished the game only to see Joel dying at the prologue out of nowhere from some uninteresting characters that doesn't mean anything to me because the story is so badly writen and executed that it doesn't even bother to make them shine.
    So much sadness and misery for nothing and two beloved characters ruined.
    This is not a good tribute to what made TLOU such an amazing game.
    I would also like to mention the misleading and false marketing of the game that will never be forgotten.
    Good graphics,amazing sound and music with more refined gameplay mechanics than it's predecessor but with a poorly written and executed story that is more comparable to a B movie.    … Expand

    The game looks great and the gameplay is really good. But the big problem as you know is the story. The problem is that you have to play as Abby for 10+ hours in the game. Being forced to kill dogs and bad story choices.

    Yes, maybe this time the story isn't brilliant, but everything else is still perfect.

The sound design is also great, but the characters and story are terrible and I never thought that this would be the product we got after waiting for 7 years. Joel, the beloved protagonist in the first game is killed off within the first 2 hours of the game and he only gets 10-15 minutes of screentime. How does Joel get killed? Well, he and Tommy rescue this girl named Abby and head back to where her group is staying at to escape from the infected horde that attacked them. For some reason, they think it is a good idea to tell this group of strangers that they just met their names, their relation, where they live, and even invite them over to restock on supplies. But in the first game, Joel doesn't trust anyone and even ran over a guy who faked from being hurt. Also, in the first game, when Ellie met David she doesn't trust him at all even after they survive an infected horde attacking them. So apparently Joel and Tommy have lost their survivor instincts and trust anyone they come across and tell them everything about themselves and invite them over. Well turns out that this gets Joel killed because the girl he rescued from the horde wanted to kill him. She kills him with a golf club while Ellie watches her and begs her not to do it. And for some reason, they decide not to kill Tommy or Ellie despite knowing Tommy just told them that Joel was his brother and knowing Ellie was somehow close to Joel because how Ellie begs Abby to spare his life and reacts to his death. The only reason why the writers didn't kill off Ellie and Tommy here is because they have a story to tell. I cannot believe how bad this writing is so far. Anyway, Ellie wants revenge and travels to Seattle so she can "KIll every last one of them." She does kill every person involved in Joel's death except Abby who was the one who actually killed Joel. She had the chance to kill Abby, but she decides to let her go because she thinks revenge is bad now. Imagine playing God of War 3 and Kratos is trying to get revenge on the Greek Gods for doing him wrong. He kills every god except Zeus who was the main one he wanted to kill. Zeus is almost dead and Kratos is like "No, I'm done. You can go." Or your watching John Wick and John Wick goes after the guy who stole his car and killed his puppy. He kills about a hundred people and when he gets to the guy who stole his car and killed his puppy and is about to kill him he is like "No, I'm good." and walks away. That is the ending of The Last Of US 2. Also, the game makes you play as Abby and tries to show you she is a good person. They make you try to feel sorry for her, but it fails so hard because you don't care about her since she killed Joel. I like how they make Abby seem like she's the good character and Ellie is evil, but Abby gets her revenge when Ellie doesn't. Really? Everyone would think the exact opposite. The game's message is trying to teach you revenge is bad and it'll cause pain and push everyone away from you. But again it fails because Abby got her revenge and got what she wanted at the end of the game which was to go off with a boy she met named Lev and Ellie doesn't get her revenge but she loses everything which was her girlfriend Dina, the baby that Dina had with her ex, Tommy, Joel, 2 of her fingers, and the ability to play the guitar. The ending literally contradicts the message the story is trying to tell you. The writing is a joke. I will not buy part 3 if they ever make one, I will never trust critic reviews again, and if they decide to make Uncharted 5 I will not buy it until I see reviews of it by other gamers and not trust the reviews by critics.… Expand

    Just finished. 9.6/10. It's an extremely well executed video game. It might not make you feel good, and you might not like the plot, which is fine, but the story was creative and well crafted, and nobody is complaining about the graphics and gameplay. The negative brigading seems pathetic.

    I waited 7 years for this game and I am terribly disappointed. horrible story, they killed the protagonists and put a female character (Ebby) without charisma, disgusting and we still have to play with her. remove the incompetent and stupid Neil Druckmann, he ruined the game. The Last of Us 2 sucks!

    It boils down to angry incels feeling "cheated". By all means look up what their saying. But play it and make up your own mind.

She kills Joel because he apparently killed that stupid doctor at the end of the first game, a npc that no one paid any attention too! (Who in the first game was black but they changed his race so they could continue this **** story) what’s next are we gonna get Skyrim 2 were that first dragon you killed has a brother who wants revenge and goes out of his way to kill the Dragonborn from the first game, and then having to play him for ten hours just to tell his sad development and call out the player for being an evil psychopath for his actions? No because that’s stupid and in any other game that guy would just be another stepping stone for the hero to cross! First off if they wanted to add this why didn’t they include it in the first game, like we don’t know this character, why should we feel sorry for his death? Second who the f is Abby? Why wasn’t she mentioned in the first game as foreshadowing as to what’s to come? Third wtf is with that sex with Neil drunckman? I get we all have kinks but come on dude!… Expand

After experiencing the last of us 2 it not only makes you appreciate the first game more but it gives you a a sense of clarity when you realise the main writer departed with ND. Seems like the people that worked on part 2 didn’t have a clue what made the first game heartfelt and special. Even then you can’t completely criticise from it’s subjective problems, there are people still enjoying the game. Loopholes and Amateur Writing are the forefront of this games’ problem. Why didn’t Abby and her group kill Ellie and Tommy when they had the chance, no witnesses, less issues. Abby had no problem killing random people so what makes Ellie so special. Why did Joel allow himself to get ambushed so easily with Tommy. The disrespect shown to both Tommy and Joel symbolises why the game is receiving the hate that it is. People love to paint the “haters” as crybaby’s and homophobes, Joel’s death was not the problem, the problem was HOW it happened. There have been many games with LGBTQ representation that have been user reviewed in the highest regard. The fanboys have less and less ammo now that the game is out, the leaks were the whole truth and it doesn’t hold up as a good sequel. Not much to say about visuals, the game is beautifully well done, puzzles have really made me appreciate the gameplay.… Expand

While there were a few genuinely good moments, the majority of games filled up with plot holes. It just took elements of what worked for the first game without understanding what made them compelling.

    I give it such a low score because the most important aspect in these kind of games are the story and characters, and they are just atrocious in this game, some of the worst I've ever seen. I definitely can't recommend this game, not even on sale.

    - The game is morally skewered towards one out of two narratively leading sides of the story.
    - The story is a scrambled mess, littered with multiple flashbacks which has less emotional effect on the player because of how the story has been structured.
    - There’s next to no levity in the game, which can be extremely draining on both the player and on the storytelling, since the events in the game losses it’s emotional impact and becomes more predictable.
    - Some character choices are absolutely none-sensical and comes out of the blue.
    - The game either assumes that the player can correctly assume the correct character development during narrative gaps taking place before and during the game OR a lot of character development was extremely overlooked for the sake of plot twists.

    I’m sick and tired of big IPs getting away with this trash level of writing while racking in billions of dollars in profits. This needs to stop or else entire industries will devolve into a cesspool of badly written media and litterateur. STOP, JUST PLEASE STOP.    … Expand

    A nivel de mecánicas, todas fueron mejoradas. Basta con solo ver la diferencia entre como abres una caja fuerte en TLOU1 y como se abren ahora, la exploración esta sumamente recompensada, el combate esta dinámico con variedad de armas, cada actualización realmente hace que el arma se siente diferente, tienes 4 clases de pasivas para mejorar al personaje, dos personajes jugables cada uno con su estilo de pelea.

    Los graficos también son impresionantes, el reconocimiento inmediato del gesto facial en los personajes es espectacular basta con solo ver la cara para leer la emoción por la que esta pasando el personaje. Los escenarios super detallados.

    La música es de la mejor parte, tanto que ya no es solo un factor de fondo. Tiene un rol importante incluso en la historia.

Meaning, Tarantino regularly plays out long scenes - long being defined as 10-20 minutes in the context of a film - before revealing to you what’s going on.

    Neil Druckman is clearly a fan of that. And so am I, frankly. It’s a beautiful thing when executed properly.

    But here’s the problem. Games aren’t films. If you’re going to play out a scene for 10-20 minutes in a film, you can trust that the director is going to pay you off relatively soon and hang in there for the angsty in-between time. In a game, that in between time could be hours rather than minutes. And in the case of TLOU2, it is many, many hours.

    That’s too long. The trope dies, and you wind up resenting the people you’re supposed to be coming to love. And hating every new encounter while you wait to find out what happens. It takes too long.

    If Tarantino held a scene for hours, rather than 10-20 minutes, I would hate that, too. The scene in the farm house at the beginning of Inglorious Basterds where you don’t know that the Jewish family is under the floorboards until 20 minutes in? Incredible. Masterful. One of the best scenes in cinematic history. On the other hand, The Hateful Eight taking upwards of three hours to reveal who the hell all the players are and what their motivations are? Too long, he lost me, and statistically, most moviegoers.

    Naughty Dog commits that same narrative sin here, except in this case it takes roughly three times longer than the sin in The Hateful Eight. That’s a *long* time. As a writer and a game, novel and film lover, even I found it painful to get through the second half of this game. I could see that Neil wanted me to love the characters involved. And I was with him, begrudgingly, for the first couple hours, but eventually I grew to resent the whole endeavor. I threw up my hands and said, **** it, kill them, or kill someone else, or kill everyone, I don’t care, just do *something*”. It was exhausting. And I don’t relish that assertion. It’s just a fact.

    Games shouldn’t use this narrative trope. It doesn’t work.

    Apart from that *one* nagging issue, let’s be clear, this game is immaculate. One of the greatest pieces of any type of media ever created. The gameplay is every bit as great as MGSV and RDR2. The graphics are absolutely insane on a very old console on its last gasp. It runs extremely well and I encountered exactly zero glitches or frame rate issues in more than 30 hours of gameplay. The delivery of the story is unbelievably seamless and the pacing is great from that perspective.

    This game is 9 parts perfect, 1 part broken. Anybody who says it’s a 0 is an incurious, unfair, self-righteous baby. And in most cases I’m quite sure they haven’t beaten or in many cases even played/purchased the game. On the other hand, I strongly disagree with anybody who says this is a perfect 10.

    My problem is not with what happens to beloved characters. That’s fine. It is the creator’s prerogative to do what they feel is right and narratively compelling. The problem is the way they do it that ensures a long, hateful gameplay slog for the real-life experiencer through more than half of the game. By the end, I was rushing through and no longer exploring because I was that exhausted. I *never* do that, especially with a game from Naughty Dog, which is my favorite creator in all media by a factor of 10.    … Expand

O Jogo é sem dúvidas o mais técnico de toda a geração, mas se perde na narrativa, a vingança de Ellie se torna tão obsessiva que chega a ser pior que a de Daenerys (GoT), aliás, os finais são ruins em mesmo nível (O final de TLU2 é igual ou senão pior que os finais de GoT, Dexter e Lost juntos) e nem falo pela morte de Joel, que foi literalmente fútil! Pior morte de um personagem relevante em uma série de games na história dos games, eu nem consigo pensar em outra que se equipare e nível de futilidade... Mas o pior ainda está por vir, a "Salvação da Humanidade" se torna somente uma qualquer, deixa de ser heroína para ser um personagem randômico, munido apenas de seu ódio e necessidade de vingança, uma vingança tão mesquinha que exceto pela qualidade técnica é tão chato de jogar quanto Death Stranding. Triste, muito triste. A luta entre Ellie e Abby é a única coisa que salva no final do game, mas poderia ser algo que fizesse parte da história e não a principal parte! O que sobra é uma lição de moral com relação a vingança (que é interessante, mas como o resto de toda vingança, poderia fazer apenas parte do game e não ser o principal contexto). O melancólico fim, que dói e sem dúvidas nos faz chorar, mas poderia ser muito mais marcante, a morte de Ellie seria o encaixe perfeito, pois depois de perder todo sentido de sua vida (tomada por Joel), não aconteceu, a vingança, não foi completa, enfim, creio que daqui alguns anos eu possa pensar que foi o melhor final, mas no momento, estou apenas decepcionado.… Expand

And yeah, some event's were rough and hard to accept, but they were needed for this idea, for the character's motivation and in order to move the story and they absolutely fit the world that they've created.
    Some people doubted the ending of the first part, the decision Joel's made, whether it was right to save one life, but not the lives of many. So now we just have the consequences of this decision. So what's the problem? What did you expect? Another sunset happy ending?

    I'm a huge fan of the first game and I'm totally on with how they've decided to continue the story. I don't agree with every decision they've made, there are some moment's that in my opinion are not necessary for the story, but anyway I've enjoyed playing this game, how it's ended and the idea that the writers wanted to convey.

    I see so many reviews where people say that they've played a few hours and want their money back because the story is trash. Really? Come on people! You haven't even finished the game to understand it and already criticize it.

    Visuals are amazing. Gameplay is typical, maybe slightly iffy at times.
    The Plot, which drives many games like TLOU2, is absolutely horrendous and heart-breaking. Like many others have said, "disrespectful" is pretty much the best way to describe the story and character development/s in this game.

And as for playing as abbie sorry her side of the story was amazing to see and you were just to salty over Joels death. The end of the game is about humanity as a whole and the things people will do to each other for it and the things they will give up in themselves for it. But that is probably lost on some people. The story was the best iv seen next to red deads in a video game. The graphics are beyond anything iv seen to the point of looking like it was a next gen game already. I would advise anyone to play the WHOLE game and see for yourself there are no forced politics or agenda's here just backward people from backwards countries who are not used to woman who are tough and bad ass. Shame on you for being so disgusting. Anyway this for me was probably the best video game i ever had the privilege to play and i will remember it for a very long time. В игре улучшали и так очень крепкий и интересный костяк геймплея, сделав его более вертикальным, проработав локации так, что ты всегда можешь на полную проявить свою креативность в его ее прохождении. Выдали все такой же простой сюжет, как в первой части, но засечь атмосферы, постановки и переосмыслений некоторых мыслей, сюжет выглядит интересным и интригующим до самого конца. И скажу, что как и спервоначалу частью концовку будут обсуждать многие, то насколько она противоречива, то как должны была поступить героиня итд. В этом плане игра держат планку, заданную 7 лет назад. И по сути правда, ведь всё гениальное — просто. The Last of Us Part II — это комплексное произведение, которое затрагивает много спорных тем и лишь пытается найти в них истину, а то как вы отнесетесь к ней, зависит только от вас.

    В свое время я поставил первой части 9,5/10, что я хотел сделать и со второй, но все же я не могу этого сделать так как все же среди новых героев The Last of Us Part II, на протяжении всего прохождения, я не смог выделить симпатичного мне персонажа. От катарсиса, который захватывает тебя в какой-то момент, практически ничего не остаётся к финалу. Закончилась бы эта история на несколько часов ранее, и такой усталости бы не возникло.

    Если первую часть истории Элли и Джоэла вы могли советовать кому угодно, взахлёб рассказывая почему это приключение запомнилось вам надолго, то в случае со второй частью вы тысячу раз подумаете, как эта история резонировала с вами и сможет ли она вызвать какой-то отклик в душе у другого человека. Но лично у меня она смогла это сделать, поэтому моя оценка игре 9/10, если вам нравилась первая игра, то я прошу дать шанс и второй, так как она действительно это заслуживает, игроки не знакомые с серией, лучше пройдите в начале первую часть и только потом решайте нужно ли вам оно.     However - I get it. I'm not cool with having to play as Abby for half of the game, that part really grinded my gears. But I hugely enjoyed playing this game over all. I love the game mechanics, I love the huge maps where enemies just are around every corner. I loved the additional difficulity of evading the dogs.
    I can actually not praise the graphics enough, the drowned and overwhelmed by nature cityscapes, the modern buildings and technology being taken over by primal forces.
    It's not a perfect game. The constant change of companions wasn't suitable to how I like to play the game, Jessie's death was very unnecessary, Tommy was given more importance than I would have liked him to have given that him and Joel did not seem to be as close as this game makes it seem.
    However, given all the issues I had storywise, I still enjoyed this game a lot. Even if I would have prefered a straight-to-the-point revenge plot.    … Expand

I like how the game rewards the players for exploring every little corner with notes that enriches the story furthermore. They have background stories for almost anything; instead of just showing the outcome they offer the events that happened prior to it making it a much more immersive story experience.

    From people just giving pure herd-like hate to people that did not finish the game, I am disappointed to see the gaming community become as toxic as the people they were against.

    Not as good and impressive as the last one (of course) but it is still a great game and I would definitely recommend it for anyone that does not have a weak stomach.    … Expand

    The story is terrible. Naughty Dogs intentionally told the story in such a way to display how "artistic" they are. What they don't realize is that they have lost the ability to distinguish good stories from bad ones. The rest of the game is fine, but the story makes the experience unenjoyable.

All of these causes lead me to a big disappoint. Hope part iii will be more better.

    they did well in the beginning ... after playing around 12 hours, I felt that it was not what I expected I stopped playing and I only ended up watching the cinematic on YouTube, thank God I did it because the end is ****

    After all the leaks and the drama, I gave it the benefit of the doubt and stil purchased it.
    Well, I regreat it..., visualy looks awsome, but a game where it's main goal is the Story, but it totaly ruined on that department, looks like they focused on visual and hired cheaper writers, i won't even talk about the agenda it tries to imply, they could use it's character and tell a good story    After all the leaks and the drama, I gave it the benefit of the doubt and stil purchased it.

Congratulations Naughty Dog for the courage to kill one of the most beloved characters in video games and for the audacity to make us play with your killer. TLoU2 is a journey of emotions. It's the best I can say about the game. I was happy, sad, depressed, angry, pissed off, I cried a lot and finally, amazed. Ellie's journey after Joel's killer is magnificent. The dialogues, the gameplay, all the characters involved, the soundtrack, just perfect. The ending is exciting, the scene in which Ellie sees Joel when she is about to kill Abby is heartbreaking and strong at the same time because we see that in her last conversation with Joel, there is still a resentment and it was this feeling that keep her going on her journey of revenge. It is interesting to see the consequences of their thirst for revenge, perceptible to the good viewer. it's an excellent game, a wonderful and courageous story and an epic ending. Congratulations and I sincerely hope you give us a Part 3.… Expand

Итак к обзору: в сюжетоориентированной игре я считаю главное сюжет, что логично - и это главный минус игры, все что было в 1й части отсутствует во 2й - не считая флэшбеков конечно же.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What a great game! The graphics, The gameplay. Incredible! And my thoughts on the story?
    I love Ellie and liked Joel, but what he did at the end of the first game was a hard decision but a wrong one. Killing Fireflies who fought for a future and a Doctor who was so precious in these times was unacceptable. It was tough how he got killed, but frankly, it was only a matter of time before someone demanded revenge.

    So it was Abby. I have to say I didn't like her in the beginning, but in the end, I did. And I was glad that she survived the game thanks to Ellie. Both paid a high price for their revenge.

    For example, after Joel Ellie lost her Horse Shimmer, Jesse, her ability to play guitar, her relationship, and almost Tommy. He lost an eye and his leg is ruined.

    After Jerry Abby lost her Dog, Alice, her love Owen and her friends Manny, Mel with her baby, Jordan, Leah, Nick, Nora, after being tortured by Ellie? Nora lived after we hit her three times with the pipe because Ellie returns to the theater and says: I made her talk.

    Anyway, it was a tough and long journey. Can't wait for part III. Thanks, Naughty Dog.    … Expand

    This is a very cool game! Very good story and excellent graphics! One minus is the gameplay. It could be made more diverse.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
