    At first after finishing the game I honestly couldn’t say I liked it. I almost hated it. That was what was so interesting to me. I didn’t hate it because it was bad, I hated it because it was exactly how I was supposed to feel. This game is about revenge. Not the just the engaging and “fun” parts of revenge where you can feel awesome hacking at people on your road to what you believe isAt first after finishing the game I honestly couldn’t say I liked it. I almost hated it. That was what was so interesting to me. I didn’t hate it because it was bad, I hated it because it was exactly how I was supposed to feel. This game is about revenge. Not the just the engaging and “fun” parts of revenge where you can feel awesome hacking at people on your road to what you believe is just. This is about all the parts of revenge. The ugliest parts. The depressing parts. We aren’t meant to feel good at the end of this game. We leave it feeling sobered. Anyone who had trouble playing this game, as did I, you are not wrong in feeling that way. This game is heavy. You are meant to have a hard time. But I am glad I finished it because it’s a game that will stick with me for a long time much like the first if not more than the first game. It’s meant to stick in your head and alter how you see things. This game was an experience. The first game felt like a journey where we were able to see Joel and Ellie. However, this game it was like I was Ellie. I was the one dealing the blows. I was the one having the traumatic feelings. I was the one right in her shoes. This game is meant to be played, not watched. You are meant to hold the controller. If you don’t, you are doing this game a great disservice for something that games this generation don’t do. It is thought provoking and it is sobering. Go in it with an open mind, leave all your expectations at the door because this shattered mine.… Expand

    The game play didn't evolve from the first game, not in a significant matter. The story is interesting in the first hours than take a nose dive. It tries to take out emotions with sucker punches instead of proper plot quality and well written story, making me feel bored and frustrated instead of empathy.

    Я не ставил специально высокий бал игре, чтобы люди понимали, что так бороться с играми бесполезно. Люди выступают за свободу слова, но когда она им не уместна они жалуются. Что в принципе очевидно. Эта игра по всей строгости может получить 8 баллов, никак не 9 и не 10.

    Снимается бал за звуковое сопровождение, оно слабое как по мне.
    Красота заросщего города - безумие которое меня захватило и никак не возможно судить столь низко эту игру. Она не шедевр, но можно попыться уделить ей хоть капельку своего внимания. Сочтите это как фанфик 14-ти летней девочки и не более. Не хотите видеть другой исход событий, а не тот, что у вас в голове. Вообще не проходите игры которые имеют продолжение историй.    … Expand

    Absolutely astonishing. Naughty dog outdid itself both in the technical and narrative aspect of the game. This is one of the most beautiful game I have seen, running in a 7 year old hardware, it is still much better looking than most games introduced for the next gen or even the latest pc games using ray tracing.

    Graphics are amazing.
    Has been pointed out by many, no need to talk about this anymore.
    The voice over acting is very good.
    Music is nice, but some more fitting 'mood music', while fighting through the different areas,
    would have been even nicer.

    The gameplay is not that much different to TLOU.
    Some minor improvements, but nothing spectacular.
    Feels familiar and I can't say it really bothers me that much.

    Now, the story.
    If you look at the game as a pretty lengthy DLC, the story is actually ok.
    A tale of revenge and its consequences.
    The moral being delivered might not suit everyone, but there has been worse.

    The problem is though, there is no game that preceded this DLC.

    Imagine TLOU2 being about Joel and Ellie diving deeper into the questions that actual matter in this universe. Being it a potential cure, the 'actual' origin and events of this apocalypse or anything else that actually had a major impact on the universe.
    What if there are more people like Ellie? It would put the actions of the known characters in a different light.
    After the game would have dealt with those things, this DLC could have been a nice fit to wrap things up.

    But this is not what the players got.
    What we got was a vehicle to transport a message.
    Which again, might be fitting for a DLC.

    The whole experience feels artificially stretched.
    You can tell what type of enemies will be around the next corner or fence.
    You fought the infected in the previous section? Time to frag some humans now.
    Rinse and repeat.
    Cut out the repetitions, and you end up with a 10 hour DLC.

    The experience just felt shallow.

    Flashbacks can be a nice way to provide additional insight on a character's motivation.
    Here, they feel like an excuse for not being able to deliver a immerse game in the first place.
    You go back and forth and it feels irrelevant.
    There's no bonding with characters, no matter how many flashbacks you go through.
    Flashbacks may add some additional insight in other games, here, they provide the only insight and it feels hollow.

    Would players be able to bond with Abby?
    Would players be able to understand how the death of her dad turned her into the person she's portrayed as?
    I'd say, yes, absolutely!

    But you don't get the chance to do so.
    The time spent playing Abby is wasted by rescuing people you care even less about.
    People that have no actual impact on the rest of the story or the character development.
    The latter was probably the intention, but the game never manages to pull this off.

    The devs and all the work they put into the technical aspects of the game would have deserved a much better story. I would be disappointed (to say the least) as, for example, an environmental artist, that my excellent work is being held hostage by this story. The story and character development made TLOU great for many players. The impressive technical accomplishments, by that time, were the cherry on top. TLOU2 delivers on the cherry part, but the cake is just awfully undercooked.    … Expand

La verdad es que el la historia está muy bien, es de las mejores y le queda, la historia en sí es él como ellie busca venganza, pero después de un de repente cambias de personaje y ahora eres la que torturo a Joel, siento que al principio no quería ni verla, me daban ganas de dejar de jugar... pero con el tiempo fui empatizando en ella y empecé a darme cuenta de que no solo es “la que torturo a Joel”, no siempre es mala, no siempre tortura gente, tiene amigos y buenas amistades, digo.. no es como que Joel o ellie nunca le hayan quitado la vida a algún padre o una madre, claro que si, y ese el el punto, que cada muerte cuesta y el que más sufre, son los familiares, como lo qué pasó con abby cuando Joel mato a su padre, en este juego nos enseñan que darlo todos por alguien, no era lo correcto, no era necesario seguir matando, no era necesario querer vengarse y no era necesario quitarle la cura a yodo el mundo solo por qué quieres mucho a la niña...
    Tristemente hay decisiones que no podemos tomarlas cuando el corazón nos guía, es por eso que este juego nos enseña qué hay que cortar ese ciclo de venganza, el Querer volver a intentar matar a abby por lo que le hizo a Joel, está mal.. ellie debió aprender a superar su pérdida, pues a pesar de no haber perdonado a Joel completamente, ellos se querían y sin importar si estuviesen enojados o no... Full of plot holes and forced events, which are in no way beneficial to the development of the story of Joel and Ellie that I would guess most were waiting for. Вместо того, чтобы поменять порядок частей, дать сначала отыграть за Эбби и проникнуться мотивацией, нас заставляют (а это игра, где нельзя скипануть геймплей) играть за персонажа, который считывается сразу. Все ее поступки предсказуемы. И ты играешь, надеясь на глубину, а ее нет. Просто тратишь время на однообразный геймплей, который работает только в связке с острым сюжетом и переживаниями. Как только они исчезают, геймплей начинает раздражать. В итоге, получается плохая работа, которую, конечно же, защищают тем, что мы просто чего-то не поняли или слишком неэмпатичны , чтобы прочувствовать. Но история, за всей мишурой глубины, очень и очень простая с обеих сторон: со стороны Элли и со стороны Эбби. Просто в первой половине есть эмоциональная привязка, во второй ее нет.

    Концовка, вообще, раздражает.

    В сухом остатке, сценаристы банально не справились с двухсторонней подачей элементарной истории, видимо, из-за того, что давным давно потеряли связь с реальностью. Жалко потраченного времени.    … Expand

    I played this game and like it very much. I understand why so many people don't like some scene in the game. But it not fair if you just being Youtube Gamer (Just Watch and never played) or Anti-SJW and vote down this game(0-3). So many thing awesome in this game (like gameplay, option of accessible, environment in game, etc). It isn't deserve your anger score.

    the game is incredible, but very complex for everyone to understand the director’s goal since the first trailer launched was to "take the player out of the comfort zone" I never had so many emotions inside a game, the ending matches everything you go through, it's a lesson on empathy, point of view and feelings.     Игра не очень. Никому не советую. Персонажи отвратительные. Геймплей на троечку максимум. Мало того ещё и лесбийские сцены присутствуют, ну я такое не одобряю. Шумные собаки разочаровали меня.

    TLOU2 makes you uncomfortable with its decisions, which imo is the best part. You really need to play the game for yourself and go through the ride with an open mind. Questioning all decisions, even from your beloved characters, is part of the game.

    The Absolutely destroy all of the best characters killing joel in the first hour nearly! Then making ellie a psychopathic murder you play as the characters and the ending ends up one dead and one all messed up in the head the game NEEDS TO BE DELETED!!!

    I read all kinds of reviews and mostly people are unhappy with the plot for Abby, and some write about LGBT propaganda, although it is not here. It feels like capricious children were writing. We saw a kiss of two girls - LGBT propaganda. We got the opportunity to see the conflict from different angles and for different characters - draining the plot. It turns out in the first part, when they played for Eli, was it also a plot drain? If your brain is so limited, then play games without a plot.    … Expand

    Not a 10, not a 0. Game looks, plays, and sounds great. The story is full of unlikeable characters you don't care about. Most of the major plot progression happens due to dumb out of character decisions. The game tries to make you sympathize with events and characters but horrendously fails at doing so. Second half is boring and drawn out. Don't give Naughty Dog your money.

I felt so many emotions while playing and loved the relationships shown between Ellie/Dina and Ellie/Joel and how they developed. The gameplay was polished and fun, with cool animations and satisfying sound design. The settings were also diverse and you can really optimize what kind of challenge you want when playing. The story was suspenseful and bittersweet. However, if I’m going to nitpick the story did have some holes. Off the top of my head I can think of a few, such as why weren’t Joel and Tommy more cautious around Abby and her friends? They’ve lived a long time in a post-apocalyptic world and have wronged many, so I don’t think they’d be so open to share personal info. Also, I can understand how Tommy would turn spiteful in the end of the game, but if felt sudden and out of nowhere. It felt out of character to be that harsh towards Ellie. Maybe if we saw more development with Tommy and his anger towards Joel’s death it wouldn’t be surprising. Overall though I have very few gripes with the game and consider it a work of art. Just because the story didn’t always go the way I wanted to doesn’t make it a bad game. Although I still feel resentment towards Abby and will defend Joel for his actions, I was relieved that Ellie spared Abby in the end. Not for Abby’s sake, but for Ellie’s. She found her peace with Joel and realized she didn’t have to kill Abby to do it. The fight at the end showed how exhausting holding on to the pain and anger was, when neither of them truly wanted to continue. Ok that’s my rambling for today. Great game. Highly recommend.… Expand

    Genuinly can't believe all the bad reviews I've just been reading through. Shows how butt hurt people can get when the story doesn't go 'exactly the way they think it should go'. It didn't go how I thought it would go whatsoever but that doesn't make it a bad game. If anything it made it a better game in my opinion. Much darker than the first and some good twists (if you didn't seeGenuinly can't believe all the bad reviews I've just been reading through. This game is **** awesome first off and people need to relax about SJW and playing as Abby they didn’t need anymore backstory to their characters you know enough about the main characters in the story sure it sucked seeing Joel die early nearly brought me to tears and then you have to play as Abby I took enjoyment out of it I loved watching her get killed when I made a mistake but it’s not all about her it’s about who is really the evil person sure Abby killed Joel in a gruesome way but Joel also murdered almost all the fireflies and took the one chance for a cure with him he damned the the entire human race for one girl because he loved her like the daughter he lost during the outbreak it’s hard to blame him for it too so is it really that hard to blame Abby for killing Joel(avenging her father and killing the one guy who stopped them from making a vaccine (also manny was one of my favourite of the former fireflies and he’s the **** who spits on Joel) in conclusion I’ve seen bad reviews about this game and me personally there either dumb as **** for not seeing the great story telling and making it more than just a revenge story and have it be one that’s also a redemption story for Abby and Ellie who cares if the main character is gay it’s not like Its actually you!!     This game is an emotional roller coaster. You'll laugh. You'll cry - both happy and sad - you'll get pissed off, and rightly so... but if the only thing you can take away from it is "screw this game" then you weren't a fan to begin with.

    This is the perfect way to continue the story of the Last of Us. i give it 5 stars. and 8 fingers out of 10 :D    … Expand

    The graphics are good, the gameplay is ok.

    Con:
    While I never were the biggest fan of The last of us gameplay wise, the story always was a thing which I liked about the game. I liked the character dynamic between Joel and Ellie and how those characters grew together through the story. I also liked left behind. It fitted the overall narrative of the main game.

    The second game however completely fell short in that regard. I was fine that they killed Joel. Killing of characters for the narrative is a common tool nowdays to bring the story forward and the last of us had it's shock moments either - the death of Joels daughter for instance. But I completely disliked HOW they killed Joel off. This is not how a beloved character should have ended. It felt cheap and unnessecary violent just for the sake of violence. That also brings me to my next problem. The game is unnessecary violent. I don't have problems with splatter or violence in games but the game never managed to make me feel violent despite the fact that the violence in the game is really drastic and grim. It simply missed it's purpose as a narrative element.
    That's mainly because the game is as said violent for the sake of beeing violent. Violence does not make a saw move a good mirror for the darkest abysses of mankind, and neither does violence serve this game in that regard.
    If you want a good example how grim violence can bring forward a good story you should take a look at Spec Ops: the Line. Yager did that right with the violence and despair of their mortar scene and the partial degration of the so called protagonist to a full fledged war criminal. The last of us 2 is macabre at best and cheap at worst.
    Furthermore does it feel a lot like they tried to make Ellie more unsympathic through the violence and Abby more symphatic. This does not work and doesn't help Abby as a character very much.
    You have to play through at least 10 hours of the game as a character which is hardly likable and who is despite all efforts of the devs simply unsympathic. I don't care if Abby is trans, well whatever the devs think is appropriate, but I do care if a main character which I have to deal with for half of a game is neither relatable nor likable or at least a decent protagonist or villian.
    Abby is in my opinion simply a bad written unlikable and dull douchbag.
    I also don't think that her beeing trans is adding any good value to the story here the way she is written. There would have been quite a few ways how that could have added value to the story, but like Naughty Dog handled it in this game it simply didn't. If I look at Ellie I think her beeing lesbian would also have given a lot of narrative possibilities, but they weren't exhausted in this game either. There are plenty of good ways to design a good villian and Abby failed miserably in that regard. And so did she as a protagonist.

    It also doesn't help that Ellie does not kill Abby in the end despite the things Abby has done. That makes the end unbelievable and the conclusion unsatisfying. Especially since Ellie is a broken character in the end and Abby comes out of this almost unbothered (by the games standards). But I assume that Naughty Dog did this to set up the opportunity to make a third installment to the franchise with Abby as the maincharacter again. I really hope they don't do that. After this episode I really don't want another the last of us game.    … Expand

    I dont want to ruin the plot with spoilers, but it is fantastic story. Quite logical and so on. A little bit too long and gameplay is only 8 not 10, so better to play 2 hours but not whole day as me.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Don’t believe the false negatives! This game is great. Grinded it on survival mode for 31 hours. Fantastic storyline and impeccable character development. From hating Abby, to rooting for her to kill Ellie in the end when you realize she’s actually the more altruistic of the two; this game surely sends you on an emotional rollercoaster. Not to mention the countless deaths of supporting characters you wanted to see thrive (Yara, Jesse, Manny). Joel had it coming and we all know it. The brutal battles scenes and challenging 1v30 WLF/Scar slaughtering served to impress beyond anything Last of Us 1 could offer. Seeing both sides of the story through the eyes of Abby and Ellie was truly masterful by the devs. And left you deeply contemplating who was in the right. On to what I didn’t like .. At times the game would feel very repetitive in that “ok, we’re here and we need to get 5 miles that way through crumbled building and hordes of enemies.” If the battles weren’t so intense and graphically amazing, this would have made a big impact on my score. My final word and issue with the game... Did we really need to go to San Francisco to reach the same outcome? Don’t get me wrong, the battle with the Rattlers is awesome and it felt like they would never stop coming out of the woodwork, but Ithad the same ending that the theater battle had. No one actually believed the devs would kill a changed Abby and protecter of Lev. When Ellie was initially shown at the farm with Dina and JJ, I thought it was over. I hoped it was over! But they instead added that extra bit in San Francisco because they thought it’s what we wanted. It didn’t bother me too much, but I know deep down that it just wasn’t really necessary apart from maybe setting up for Part 3. That’s all, hope you enjoyed my review.… Expand

After 30 hours of playing I can happily say the follow up to my favorite game of all time lands in my personal top 5. With as little spoilers as possible, I was a big fan of Joel in the first game but I was a bigger fan of Ellie since I was around the same age as her when the first one came out. I did not agree with Joel taking away Ellie’s decision from her but like everyone understood why he did it. I did after the first one expect Joel to die and I did not have a problem with how he did. Joel’s character was never written to die protecting Ellie from clickers. That would be lazy writing. Having him die as brutal as it was, was In some way a testament to his character and the pain he caused others. But also his death caused the player pain setting up a good revenge story. You just know Joel himself knew he had it coming. Seeing other character like Jesse and Dina ready to sacrifice themselves for Joel shows how he impacted the Jackson community. Ellie remains my favorite character in the series after this game but I do hope if we see more in this series it includes more Tommy. Now onto abbys side, I found some the characters to be annoying. But I think each of them had valid motivations. I did not like Abby when I first started playing as her but as time went on I liked her more and more. Laura baileys performance was incredible. While I still was mad she killed Joel, I understood it and I felt her pain as well. While I’m at it all the acting was top notch. My surprise of the game was lev and yara who helped build abbys character. The gameplay in this game was my favorite of the ps4 single player games. It felt as realistic as an infected filled world could. The engagements felt real, and the enemies felt like they were each created with their own mind and personality. I will replay multiple times for gameplay alone, and hopefully it receives a multiplayer. The graphics and soundtrack were obviously top notch. With graphics being the best I had seen on a ps4 pro, and made me question if we need a ps5. One last thing is the hospital mission with Abby is one of the scariest missions I have played. I’m not a huge horror fan but I have played resident evils and it felt straight out of one. Verdict/TLDR- if you’re a fan of the first one and willing to go in with an open mind you will be very pleased as naughty dog proves they are one of the best again.… Expand

The Music was awesome as always and the attention to detail was a lot improved, eben though in the First Part i thought that it couldnt get much better. There are some easter eggs that made me smile, like Gustavo Santoalalla playing guitar. And that you can explore auch huge parts of seattle was a really nice experience. Everything was really immersive and the fights were really terrifying. At oke Point i was disappointed by the story and I really didnt want to keep playing as abby Even though now i have to das that her story was very interesting and I would Even want to See what will Happen with her in lev(Finding the fireflies). I just think that Joel didn’t deserve to die this way and Ellie didn’t deserve her biggest to fear become true, she lost everyone and now even her memory is getting left behind because she can’t play the song anymore.     I was terribly disappointed to see that this game that i had long expected, turns out to have little to no diversity.
    I usually play as a transsexual MtF black midget with long blond hair in other games because this is the only way my wife will get me the specific soy milk (with +100% soy! tasty :DD) i want on her way back from her boyfriend's apartment. Now what am i supposed to tell    I was terribly disappointed to see that this game that i had long expected, turns out to have little to no diversity.

    Gameplay, graphics, music... everything else from the game is awesome. Except stupid plot logic and narcissistic writers ruined all of this and made the game joke of century.

This game is amazing, in apocalyptic games, we almost always have an ending with some kind of silver lining or hopeful future, not with this game. The ending hurts, and it's supposed to, we watch Ellie destroy both herself and everything she had trying to track down and kill Abby, it was only at the last second she realized she had become a monster and was about to traumatize Lev the same way she was traumatized by Abby. But it's too late, Dina left her, she'a all alone, and to top it all off, she can't even play guitar anymore, one of the key things that still connected her to Joel.

    Fair warning to anyone reading: 99% of the negative reviews were written on the day it came out when it was impossible to have beaten the game, and the vast majority of those reviews are due to the queer representation the game shows, which they did a phenomenal job of.    … Expand

    This game is absolutely phenomenal. This will go down in history as one of the best and most beautiful gems ever created.. Naughty dog delivers in every single aspect PERFECTLY. From the outstanding story (except for one part of the game) to the jaw dropping visuals, it exceeded all my expectations. This is one of those rare near perfect games (not perfect because of a part near the end).This game is absolutely phenomenal.     9/10 on story. There are people hating on this aspect because there are moments that are heartbreaking. That is not a bad thing. AT ALL. It brings you to the realization of how cruel this world is and it feels REAL. Things like that are needed in a game like this. The story progresses and flows beautifully as you go through the game. The characters are extremely well made and you really care for them. So many character interactions gave me goosebumps! then why isn't it a 10/10??? there is a large section in the story where it feels very forced and I did not want to play it for a second longer, yet it went on for hours. No one ever will be happy playing that part..

    12/10 visuals. Wow.

    11/10 gameplay. Gameplay is still amazing! Few games ever created are this satisfying to play. best part of the game by far.

    PLEASE acknowledge the amount of hard work and love clearly put into this game. Ignore the "agendas" because they are not there. Its a real story. 10/10 for the first run through until the one part I hated making it a 9/10.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
