    I want to be really honest, I liked the graphics (even though they were not a big deal), the same gameplay. But the story, the characters, the line, the ideological propaganda (lgbt lobby) was absolute trash, as it was progressed in the game, it became more and more empty and incongruous, with characters that became simply insupportable, this sequel has nothing to do with the first game,I want to be really honest, I liked the graphics (even though they were not a big deal), the same gameplay.     Pro:
    The game itself looks nice, really nice
    The voice acting is good, and the facial works are also pretty good.
    Menu and settings are petty nice, is very much need with the difficult setting

    Cons:
    AI is damn awful, to the point, there are games from 2012 would be superior.
    The Story is really weak compared to the first game and other AAA, it feels like the story group forgot about storytelling and a lot of plotholes.
    Controls are still pretty bad, the jump button is 95% useless, and was far to hyped up.
    Puzzles are not there really.

    The biggest problem I have is centered on the character Abby, not the fact that she kills Joel, but that could have been done better, but more you have to play as her. and that Ellie saves her "twice" To were most people would have killed her. It feels soulless, and Really wished I had refunded the game back when the leaks came out.    … Expand

    The worst game ever made. It's bad and enjoyable you can't enjoy bad games but this one is different. The game is Pinnacle of bad writing character abusement and **** holy way of making players feel dirty. It's pathetic piece of **** This game truly deserves a 0 or lower if possible.

    Awesome game. The plot amazes to the core, and makes you indulge in reflection a few days after passing. The gameplay is the best in the industry. It is sad that those who did not play this game believe that they understood everything on YouTube and underestimate the ratings. I was waiting for the game with great skepticism because of the merged spoilers, but when I played itAwesome game.     Doesn't really innovative from the last game, the story is below average compared to the last game, feels like they're trying to push the dry and edgy side too much. While the main theme violence begets violence flops pretty hard as you wade through nameless soldiers who repeat the same lines.with the horrendous crunch the devs were made to do. The accessibility options are a nice addition.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After 24 hours I finally completed the game and I must say it's just as good if not better than the first game. My only complaints is that maybe you play as Abby for a little too long and gameplay got monotonous, specially on day 2. I understand that some people dislike the choices the writers made but I think they pulled it off in a way I didn't expect, I even played the game having read a lot of spoilers but that didn't take anything away from me because I believe you really have to experience this game and play it for yourself till the end to understand the choices the characters made.

    I see some people say that they don't like the game because they don't like abby, but in my opinion the game doesn't really try to make you like her, they make you see that her motives are just as valid as Ellie's for doing what she did and puts thing in a different perspective, and to be honest Abby has some of the most intense and fun parts of the game.

    My only issues with the story are Abby's motivations to save Lev and his sister and MAYBE some issues with it's structure, it may have been better to mix up playing as Abby and Ellie a little more but, I get why they didn't do that but still. When seeing Abby's side of the story I really liked all the new characters they introduced and they all felt so fleshed out, specially Owen, I even felt terrible because I already knew what Ellie did to them (this is why I think the game is structured how it is).

    Not to mention gameplay was fun and devastating as **** it's the best looking game ever, the soundtrack is so beautiful and push the important moments of the story and the environments have so much detail and love put into them.

    My expectations with this game were as high as they come and it met them. I do feel really sad for how divided the fan base will be now and I really wished everyone enjoyed this game as much as I did, but come on people, it's not even close to a 0.    … Expand

    This game is incredible on many many aspects. The gameplay feels so, so good. Every weapon is very satisfying to use thanks to the sound effects and the gore. The ability to dodge is a good addition. The sneaking works very well with the added ability to crawl and different ways of going through the environment. The puzzle    Note : I am not giving it a 10 to balance out the bad scores.

The puzzle phases are so much better than in the first game and more diverse with the ropes, the jumps, all the windows you can go through. The maps are much more open (at least during the first half of the game) with a lot of things you can easily miss if you go in a straight line (pretty much every weapon and upgrades can be missed). The ambient music works really well to raise the tension. The facial animations combined with the acting make every character look so real, you can read everything on their faces. The accessiblity options also are unrivaled. To sum it up, everything is really, really good and if you liked the first game I don't see how you can dislike this one based on everything I just mentioned.

    Now, for the controversial aspect, the story. It is incredible. However, the game does not go easy on you. At all. Prepare to be upset several times. That said, the hard parts are there for a reason and not for shock value. They make sense. And they make more and more sense the further you go in the story, and take into account every character's motivations. The story in itself is simple but emotionally complicated, a lot more than the first game's that is very straightforward. If you haven't read any spoiler, the better because ouf of context any story can look bad, hell the first game's story can hold on a post-it note. Around mid-game, something happens. If you can get over it and just enjoy the ride, you will love this game. The second half of the game probably is my favorite part because of the weapons you have and the environments you go through as well as the dialogs.

    I am sorry to say it, but I think that a lof of hateful reviews are left by people that are either not emotionally mature (the game is supposed to be 18+ remember ?) ,or mad that this game's story is not what they wanted, or they just decided that they hated the game before they even played it. So, go for it, make you own opinion and I think that you'll see that the game is incredible. Probably my GOTY.    … Expand

    While this game isn't a 0 out of 10, it certainly isn't a 10 out of 10. The Graphics and gameplay are decent, but the storytelling is absolutely horrendous. That's just my opinion though, I would advise you do your own research to decide whether or not to purchase this game or to invest in something that will be more value for your money.

    The gameplay is as usual very good (at least better than e.g. in RDR2) and for me the journey was exciting and varied.
    If you liked the first part and can live with it if the story doesn't continue    I was very well entertained. Sure, the story isn't everybody's cup of tea, but if every producer would just do fan service we would have a lot of predictable stories with happy endings.

The story may not be true to some people, or just the story is not the same. If to compare easily Award-winning movie Most of them may not be pleasing to the viewers but understand. I want them to end like this. It is similar to many movies as well. For example, the director of Jung Bong Junho, the end may not be as we had hoped. LaLaLand, Her. What is the delay?     I'm going to start by saying there are currently a lot of bad reviews for this game. As of beating it tonight only 15% of players shared the achievement for completing the game, so take that for what it's worth.     I'm going to start by saying there are currently a lot of bad reviews for this game. As of beating it tonight only 15% of players shared the achievement for completing the game, so take that for what it's worth.

    Visually the game is stunning. A lot of love was put into the landscapes and character models and it shows.

    The voice acting is, as expected, phenomenal. Ashley Johnson, Troy Baker, Laura Bailey and everyone else involved did an absolutely fantastic job.

    The game starts off faster than it probably should. Things happen that set the whole story in motion fairly quickly, and I feel like a little more time should have been given to explore how things had changed in the previous few years and solidifying how new characters fit in and how some relationships have grown and changed since the first game. It slows down a bit and hits a pretty good pace when you get past the opening, however. The game took about 30 hours to complete. It seemed like the perfect length to me.

    The story is not one of hope like part 1. It is dark, it is gritty, it is desperate at times. It feels almost a little too one track at times as you rampage from one landmark to another, but after you hit a certain point in the game, the story expands in ways that fill in some of what felt like plot holes and a semi one dimensional story. Don't get me wrong, the game is fun through the beginning, but it makes you question where the story telling of the first game has gone. It makes up for it in spades later on.

    Characters are flawed, non-perfect beings, just doing their best to keep surviving this hellish world. The characters interactions from the plot to enemies interacting on the battlefield feel real. They feel human. Combat is similar to part one, but feels a little smoother. Once you take a little time it feels good for the most part, but a little clunk now and then. Encounters have really varying dynamics depending on enemy types, but all types will keep you on your toes with different mechanics. It's varied enough in encounter types that it never feels too stale, and will really get the heart pumping from time to time. Enemies are a lot more unpredictable at times than you might expect, adding a little flavor to your stealthy fights. When your cover is blown it can feel like a bit of a struggle cycling through weapons and supplies, trying to assure you keep enough meager supply for the next inevitable fight. It feels like you are really surviving off of whatever bits and pieces you can find, and really adds to reminding you of the post apocalyptic world you are in.

    Last thing I want to touch on is that yes, there are LGBT themes in the game. People seem to be making mountains out of molehills on this.

    The world of Last of Us Part II is diverse. Characters are a hodge podge of survivors, just doing their best to survive. We've known Ellie was gay since the first games DLC. People have seemed shocked about it. The game neither villifies her sexuality, nor glorifies it. It just is. It's not made to be a big deal besides a little bit of bigotry happening briefly to show it's still not completely accepted in this new world. There is also a Trans character that is acknowledged as being trans, but similarly just kind of is. It does have minor implications on the story line, but isn't made to be a huge deal.

    I found it to be tastefully done. It's how I would like more LGBT characters to be treated in media. The struggles are acknowledged, the characters are neither villafied or glorified for it, and the characters are not defined by their sexuality, it's just one of many aspects of who they are.    … Expand

    I wasn't a huge fan of the first one but I'll agree that it was a good game overall. I can't say the same for this sequel though. Aside from graphics everything else takes a turn for the worst, especially the story and characters. I would not recommend playing unless you like trophies and buy it second hand or something.

    Although the graphics and game-play is good, but its destroyed by the story, destroy whole the franchise, give me a bad experience and disappointed. The character change (specially Joel) also unreasonable and deviate from part 1, its cannot acceptable. Also the game trailers scam and game director's attitude make me disgust and feel offended.

    The visuals are incredible, the sound effects and music are great but the story lacks and in order for the story to go how they wanted they had to make a series of coincidences happen and make all the characters seem completely stupid.

    Joel's death is written horribly and disregards his (and Tommy's) entire personality from the first game. The actions he and Tommy make are so out of character and make both of then seem dumb, just so that the revenge story can take place. Both of these characters were very smart in The Last of Us and were cautious about giving information to strangers.

    Abby and her group leave Tommy and Ellie alive just so the story can continue! If the characters were making smart decisions this story would not have been able to happen.

    You have to play 10 hours with the person who brutely murdered Joel and the creators try to make us feel bad for her because of Joel killing her father. Abby is a terrible person in general and shows no compassion for the people she kills, unlike Ellie.

    I enjoyed the gameplay but the story lacks, it would have been so much better if they took a different path.    … Expand

    Every minute I spent playingh this game I was slightly afraid that something terrible awaits me down the road, and I will hate this game as many others on the Internet. But when, 30 hours later end credits have rolled out and I was stunned by the qulity of this game in every way possible.

    This game really doesn't deserve alot of the hate it's getting. The story is an 8/10 everything else is 9/10 or better. Gameplay is fluid and fun. Graphics are amazing, only 30fps though.

People review bombing no way beat the game real people like us are just now beating the game now and it took a solid 2-3 day and nights straight to do so, I feel like my heart's strings have never been pulled harder and people jumping at spoilers to make judgements have no clue. This game gave me heavy resident evil vibes in the best way that the first never truly pulled off. The boss fight with Abby was straight out of RE:Nemesis and maybe Im the outlier here in that by my time was over with Abby I DID empathize with her SO strongly and honestly at the final fight let her kill Ellie just to see if there was a cannon ending for that. I really was not expecting to like Abby and from the first day in Seattle with her it felt like a slog but something about her, maybe the voice acting, maybe the ultra hard shielding around her heart that she had so strongly that made her so Hateable for many, but Relatable to me. We all love Ellie because we saw her grow up, and I know it was intentional writing, but Ellie pissed me off more than once and it's because I was really close to a few girls who acted just like that. Abby showed multiple times a certain restraint and maturity that Ellie couldn't understand untill she literally lost the ability to play her favorite tune. It was tragic. I truly was surprised myself that by the end I wanted them both to win, though I knew they had already both losses, so, so long ago. It was a masterpiece. And many people may never know it, they will judge this game off many other things, and the gameplay itself is superb in stealth and A.I.

    Once again I wonder or possibly doubt it's even possible for them to continue this story again, especially with Ellie. But I have absolute faith and excitement for anything that may come. At the deepest expense of my emotional reserves. The HBO show that supposedly is happening could potentially turn this into something even greater. But as it stands, this is another turning point in video game narrative, and the the risks may have been obvious, (especially living in a post Game of Thrones world) I think we can all agree that the execution was nearly flawless and The Last of Us 2 has stuck it's landing.    … Expand

Certainly, difficulties in games are welcome, as are moral dilemmas, but you can't have a game that strings them together so poorly that all the characters feel two-dimensional and thoroughly loathsome.

    Game play is excellent, the visuals are stunning, physics are extraordinary, and I know it's a "survival" game. Yet, I hated absolutely every character in it, then hated myself for having had to go along with the script and not being able to play the game as I would have preferred.

Characters from previous game are no more,this is just bland copies of old game models. Knowing how abusive ND was to their workers,i can't add more points for the soundtrack and animations.     TLOU shows you the nature of a human kind, it shows how ugly we are and how we're not very different from each other. Emotions often take control over rational. It's been that way, it will stay this way.

It's a fantastic game and a worthy sequel to part 1 in every aspect. The story may be divisive, dark and not always what I would have done. The gameplay is improved from the first but not drastically changed. It flowed a lot better and gives you more options for taking down enemies. At 28hrs for a first play through I think a person can easily get their’s money worth here. It’s pretty much a movie as well. Great cutscenes and lots of them. I was such a big fan of the first game, played it countless times. Loved everything about it. As a huge fan of the first game, this game just hurts. Characters you fell in love with, they lose. They lose everything. And it gets worse and worse for them as you play through all the way to the very end. And the characters you dislike, the villains, they win. And i just don't understand how this could have gone in the direction it did. Its disgusting. When i got to the end, it just felt like i was staring at a big fat game over loss screen that i could not go back to and win. I just lost and now i have to deal with that.

    Its tragic because i actually loved a lot of things as i was initially playing the game. The gameplay, the graphics, the voice acting, the horror aspects, the musical score. So many things i was enjoying, but the story was so poorly written and executed that it was actually a distraction from these good features of the game.

    So lets talk about this story. Its hard not to talk about the first game during this because the story of the first game got so much right. It built up characters that the players fell in love with and cared for. Characters that we could relate to, with flaws that we could understand. We witnessed the journey and shared the emotions of the various characters we encountered throughout the game. It was so enjoyable and because of this we were excited to see how this story could continue.

    What we got instead was poorly written revenge story with shallow characters, that the players didn't know and never care for. We weren't built up to like any of the new characters. And the characters we came to love from the first suffer and they suffered as a result of not being the characters they were in the first. Players are forced to witness a tragic, gruesome death of one character as a result, and its a death that was hard to watch. Players wanted revenge just like Ellie. They wanted payback for this hurt. Instead we are forced to play as the killer for 8-10 hours? Forced to fight and try to kill Ellie and Ellie's friends? Then we let the killer get away and we leave Ellie with nothing.

    Why? How does this make sense as a good story to tell to your fanbase who loved your first game so much?I understand for some stories, especially in a world like the last of us, characters will die. That's fine. But what was the point in this? We suffer, and these characters we care for suffer, and nothing enjoyable came from that whole experience. Many people dont care for whatever message this game was trying to communicate. It sacrificed too much to try to deliver this message and instead players are angry and hurt and NaughtyDog is going to have to deal with that.

    I'm done talking about it. I'm going to redownload the first game now and experience what made the FIRST last of us great.

Seeing both sides, understanding where they come from before the inevitable clash. The problem is that this is a SEQUEL and you are only introducing antagonist in the second installment. It's a **** uphill battle, because you're trying to make us empathize with the character who kills the established and well loved protagonist.

    The thing is, you can clearly see that this was an issue for a writing team too. They make Abby too nice, too righteous compared to Ellie. It's a manipulative tactic, trying to push down one protagonist to boost another. They do their absolute **** best to make Ellie unlikable, didn't work. We practically witnessed this girl grow up, we will automatically be on her side.

    I think the better story would've been a continuation of Joel and Ellie's relationship. It would've been much more powerful to see Joel actually witness and process the consequences of his own actions coming to haunt him. Instead, they took a lazy way out, which turned Joel into a **** martyr. I can't possibly see him in a bad light, because I'm too focused on his death. The character I loved died, death makes it hard to be objective about said character's bad deeds.

    Oh well, I can see they tried, I just think that this shouldn't have been a sequel. This should have been a standalone game with original characters, that way this kind of story could be more balanced towards both sides of the conflict.    … Expand

    Now that we got that out of the way and hopefully the fire will stop soon...
    Time for the review. and I will be quick but honest about my opinion about it since too many have already reviewed it.

    What are the goods in the game?
    The graphics, first and foremost. Breathtaking! No complains here.
    The cinema, the way characters acting, the animations, they're almost flawless (still not perfect).
    The sound effects are exactly what you expect. Onpoint and satisfying.

    What's in the mixed thoughts?
    The writing. There's room for a lot of improvments, I was not amused. it's pretty average. A well made writing as an example is the witcher which made me giggle and laugh out loud many times. Little did I felt anything based on the writing of Tlou2 alone.
    The gameplay, the Fun. It's really mixed here. Some got bored really quick, others said it was fun and entertaining. In my opinion, It's fine at best and could have had some improvements, deleting animations in the workshops to stop wasting time for example, real is fine, too real is bad for gaming and time wasting, no one really has time to see someone cleans hisher gun everytime you go adjust the gun. Let's be real here, this is not the reason why you're playing the game...

    What's the bad in this game?
    The story.
    I don't like it, not one bit. It's more than just the recent "events" that you definetely will come across. It's just a revenge plot...It's generic, the way they executed it is pretty boring and lazy.
    A child can write a revenge story, almost anybody can write a revenge narrative and in my opinion and in all honesty, also can write a better and more satisfying story for both sides of the spectrum.
    It's also filled with holes, holes that shouldn't have been made on purpose. The ending is unsatisfying. They could have added multiple endings, they had 7 years to do so, but they decided not to do so...Interesting...really interesting...I wonder what was more important to them during all these 7 years...The story? Or the graphics...the cinema...the movie like feeling...
    The replayability - Well, we all can guess about that...

    i want to add some important things that I think should be addressed as well cause little has been talked about it, and I will include this in my review.
    First, crunch culture. People crunched their butt out to make this game, risking their lives in bad conditions to provide a product. if any of you, customers, or 'wallets' have no feelings for them or reconsider, "maybe the company crunches them too much, maybe they shouldn't work so hard to the point where it's health risky" If none of you even thinks about these people, you are pathetic, undeserving beings and should be ashamed to yourselves!
    No one should make a game at the expense of their health.

    Second. The DMCA strikes. I saw what you did Naughty Dog, Neil. A lot of it was unjustified and you should be ashamed of yourselves! A pathetic management with pathetic and boring ideologies.

    The final review after summing it all up is sligthly above average. 6/10
    It's an average and sligthly average at best.
    You may not like it from both sides, if so, replay the game and read my review again. There are better games that you can play the will play with your emotion strings to heart and not in a cheap way.
    Good examples are 'Nier Automata' and 'Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice'. Try these for a change if haven't done that yet...    … Expand

    Great game, interesting plot. The graphics are super, the storyline is very interesting and makes you experience the whole spectrum of feelings. There are controversial moments, there are not favorites, but all together it gives a cool effect, after which you think about this game for another half a night
