When I first saw the trailer for TLOU years ago, I thought to myself, “they’ve finally made a game for me”, in the sense that, here’s a game with a grounded and brutal story with what seemed to be a fantasticThe Last of Us is quite possibly my favorite game of all time. When I first saw the trailer for TLOU years ago, I thought to myself, “they’ve finally made a game for me”, in the sense that, here’s a game with a grounded and brutal story with what seemed to be a fantastic script and fully realized characters. As a huge film fan, this was extremely exciting news. In the final moments of TLOU, when Ellie mutters “...Okay” and it cuts to black, I knew that I had just experienced something game changing, for the video game industry and pop culture in general. I have been anticipating this game (Part 2) ever since I put that DualShock 3 down and stared in awe at the credits, contemplating the morally gray decision Joel had just made. It’s a damn shame moments from this game were leaked. I tried to go in blind but no matter how hard I tried, there was always some dingus posting unfunny memes in an attempt to “troll” whoever they could. This game is so much more than those out of context moments. This game makes you reconsider everything you have experienced and learned from Part 1. From it’s shocking beginning to it’s heartbreaking ending, this game is pure art, through and through. The attention to detail is downright astounding and the gameplay hooked me so much, I checked my clock and 7 hours had gone by in an instant. Although, these aspects aside, we all know where the divisiveness really comes from, its story. Personally, I loved it. I beat the game about 4 or 5 days ago now, I’m already on my new game plus on Survivor, and eventually will be going for the plat, but no game has stuck with me this long. The story has burrowed its way into my mind and I haven’t been able to get it out. When I initially finished it, I was confused, hunting for meaning in it all. After sitting and contemplating, I believe it to be one of the best stories I have ever experienced through the medium of video game. In a world of cookie cutter stories, spoon feeding us the things we want because we know they will make us feel good, Naughty Dog has dared to pull a move and challenge its audience. At first, I was extremely apprehensive, “Why are they doing this? What is the point?” But after the credits rolled, it all made sense to me. I appreciate when something differs from the norm and oh boy did this do that. If you haven’t played the game, go in with an open mind, ignore the leaks, and just give it a chance. If you still genuinely don’t like it (for non-bull**** reasons) then there you go, but you may be surprised how you feel when you let go of your pre conceived notions. This game isn’t perfect though, I do think there are some pacing issues but other than that, I see no other glaring problems. This game will challenge you and your expectations, let it and embrace it. For me this is a phenomenal achievement and I’m so happy to have played it day one and own a copy. This will go down in the history books of gaming whether for good reasons or bad. There is so much more I would love to discuss but I wanted to keep this spoiler free so those on the fence or those who just haven’t had the means to play it yet could read this. I’ll sum it up with this, I loved all of the characters, even if it took me a few hours to understand certain things, I thought the ending was damn perfect and got a few tears out of this old cynic (along with many other moments throughout), and finally, the story was exactly what it needed to be, every bump along the way made perfect sense in this brutal and violent world. Please play this game, I couldn’t recommend it more. Thank you.… Expand

    não achei que jogar com a abby foi uma boa ideia, acho q no início foi sim (pois ela não havia matado o joel ainda) mas depois achei péssimo, eu tinha interesse 0 em saber a história dessa menina.
    além disso achei um corta clima gigante quando a abby esta prestes a atirar na ellie e do nada o jogo direciona para o passado da abby, não gostei disso, ademais tudo está perfeito!!!    … Expand

    The most visually appealing game I've played since red dead redemption 2 showing what a launch ps4 can do when pushed against a wall

    A very slightly disappointing story in comparison to the first due to the forced segment of the second half for a character Naughty Dogs should have expected to be hated by devoted fans of the first.

    As much as they got me to sympathize with this individual and understand their motives I cannot forgive them due to their actions early on in the game however I digress as I see Naughty Dogs message in which revenge can lead to dire consequences not just for yourself but for the individuals around you.

    It isn't the sequel us fans wanted but never the less it is an amazing sequel to the masterpiece the last of us 1 was with the ending making you Feel like the character at the said ending. Empty

    I do however believe there is room to improve upon the overall story with a sequel due to certain knowledge discovered very late in the game and with the aforementioned ending being left very open with many routes to take for a potential part 3

    I was one of the many people spoiled due to the may leaks however Neil Druckman was right in regards to the story not being 100% true to the leaks

    At the end of the day, not everyone will like this game nor every character in the game however all and all the game, in my opinion, is still a must-play for players of the first and is an emotional rollercoaster.

    I commemorate Naughty Dogs for giving us the sequel that we didn't deserve but the sequel we needed and I give this sequel a 9/10    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Game is beautiful, probably the best looking game on stock PS4. The animation are sometimes a little off and there are a few bugs here and there but overall, it's way ahead of most of the games on this subject.

    Music are almost non existent which is a shame since the first game had some nice ones.

    Gameplay isn't bad but it's very simple, just an updated copy of the gameplay from the first game which was OK in 2013 but already not memorable. The reason people still liked the first game is that the gameplay wasn't that important, what was important in TLOU was the writing, the story, the characters. And this is where it gets ugly.

    One character aside, the cast is dull. You couldn't even describe the characters otherwise than by saying "it's that guy wearing a hat" or "it's that Asian looking guy". The characters aren't badly written, they're not written at all. Oh, my bad, Ellie is written : they gave her tons of hobbies to fill the void in the writing but it simply doesn't work. You can't be a good guitar player, song writer, astronomy expert, comics nerd, good drawing artist, hand to hand combat expert, pro sniper and bow shooter all at the same time. It's ridiculous and it doesn't make her more real, that's just pure failed writing. Also, the way she talks with Dina make them sound like they actually lived in the "old world" which is even more shocking since the fact she was so clueless on the subject in the first game was so evident in he conversation with Joel.

    All the good ideas from the first game in terms of rhythm and storytelling, like the short and almost entirely playable introduction are gone. Now you have to endure long and useless scenes where you can only walk ALL THE TIME and the game takes forever to really start. Most important events are badly timed, they happen too soon or too late so they have almost no impact on what you feel. The game completely lacks that feeling from the first one where you feel like you're there, in the game, living the same adventure the characters do. Instead of that, it's like you're watching people you don't care about act from far away. Plus some scenes are so bad, so outdated, they feel like a Seinfeld episode in term of directing.

    And what about that stupid idea of forcing you to play with the antagonist for HALF THE GAME. Yes, everyone understood why, it's so obvious you can't misunderstand it, that's not the issue, the issue is that it's a stupid idea. That's not what the players were told, they were all thinking that this game would be TLOU but with Ellie as a main character which is not the case. They lied to the players, pure and simple. On top of that, you can also add that the game is long for absolutely no reason (the story is so simple and the gameplay so limited, you want the game to end after like 10 hours) which makes this part of the game even more boring.

    Let's not forget "the message" the game is trying to push on you. It's so obvious, so awkward, so contradicting, cringe and illogical, it simply doesn't make any sense, the writer obviously wanted to do something deep but failed to grasp the gist of it resulting in a really stupid conclusion.

    The Last of Us is one of my favorite game ever. When the second one was announced, I tried very hard not to get my hopes up because I knew making a sequel at least as good as the first one would be difficult. I avoided all spoilers and drama but even with all these precaution, I've never been so disappointed by a game. This is a unexplainable and unforgivable waste.

    I gave it 1 because I acknowledge all the hard work the 3D artists, devs and such put in the game but I can't give it more because TLOU2 is abysmal compared to the first one.    … Expand

    Now the for controversy. Is the story as good as the first game? No, I don't think it is. The writers decided to go in a new direction (which I applaud), but the landing wasn't as perfect. But I still think it's a great story, easily one of the best I've seen on the PS4. Now that's my opinion from playing the game. And as you've seen, enough people think otherwise.

    But the point is that you have to play it to make a decision for yourself. I bought the game know many people hated it, but I still was willing to give it a chance. And I'm happy that I did so.

Those hating on it, are pathetic trolls that haven't even played it, or are just so dumb they don't understand the story from both perspectives.     Отличное продолжение культовой игры. Играю и не могу оторваться. Не терпится узнать развязку сюжета. При том что игровой процесс очень увлекательный и доведённый до идеала. Персонажи как живые. Людей и животных убивать даже страшно. Такое чувство, что это не игра, а всё взаправду происходит. Пейзажи нереально красивые. Everyone did not expect that this part not about relationships between Ellie and Joel. I'm from East Europe and I also don't support homosexual ideas but in-game I did not feel that Dina was specifically included in the game for the sake of praising Drakman's Liberal Ideas. In the first part we knew that she loves girls and not anyone said that this game is bad. I love this world and anyone can’t destroy it.… Expand

I’m not sure what the developers were trying to achieve with the numerous and obvious shoehorning of homosexual and trans themes throughout the game, but all it did was make the characters feel obnoxious and unrealistic. What’s worse is that it felt as if they were so adamant in pushing their political views that they felt it was justified enough to bury the entire framework of the original games story under the rug. However in the case of this game, they didn’t just bury the original games story, they trampled and beat it to death, as exemplified with Joel’s death so early in the game and being replaced with an unrealistically physiqued new character Abby.… Expand

    This is not a game for our snowflake generation, who likes to live in a fantasy of everything being happy and nice; expecting our heroes to do the right thing all the time.
    Last of us 2 is a piece of art, and the goal of creating art is not to impress, but to express. Kuddos to Naughty dog for making the tough choices and showing us how flawed human beings really are.

    I loved the first LOU game and can definitely say it is masterpiece. The characters were great, the story was great. Overall it was one of the best zombie survival games i have ever played. When i saw they were making a new one i was so hyped, but im disappointed with Naughty Dog. The LOU 2 is not a Masterpiece (Critics please stop sucking Neil Druckmans dick and saying this game can compete with the first one because it cant.) It has its good moment (the flashbacks) and some parts are fun. But it does so many things wrong. First of all Joel dies in the first mission (WTF) im not angry about him dying, its the way he dies (Joel the alpha male who travelled across half the US, slaying hordes of clickers and hunters and then fighting his way through hospital filled with heavily armoured Fireflies all the while protecting a young Ellie is taken down by a golf club.) So stupid. Then you are forced to play as his killer and experience why she wanted to kill him, no one gives a **** about her. Im pretty sure the first thing everyone did with Abby is kill her using a pipe bomb just to redeem the game a little more! Then the ending...so you (Ellie) kill everyone involved in Joels killing in brutal ways. But as soon as you get to the person who actually did the deed, your like "eh, i cbb to kill you so ill just let you go and get no revenge whatsoever" This discount Greta Thunburg gets away with killing one of the most beloved characters in the series. wtf is this.

    No final do jogo eu simplesmente choro, toda a carga emocional do primeiro e do segundo jogo me afetaram.

    We already knew it wasn't going to be good, it was horrendous. When Neil Druckamnn decides to start TLoU2 by destroying in the first hours the whole story of TLoU1...
    This is almost as bad as Game of Thrones S08, The Hobbit trilogy and the last Jedi.
    Poor Joel... He deserved better.
    This is probably the worst PS4 exclusive of this generation.

But given of how disappointed i am from the story and the fact that i waited for so long for this, i really can not give this game more than 2. Unfortunately, the creators and everyone around it will say that most reviews are bad because the don't believe in diversity and stuff like that, but everyone of them seems to forget that the DLC in the first game had already told us that Ellie is lesbian and 99% of the gamers did not seemed bothered at all. Diversity is not the problem, using diversity in order to make a game relevant and edgy is the problem. P.S. Joel will always be one of my favorite game characters next to Nathan Drake and Arthur Morgan!… Expand

It's all in an effort to make you feel bad for the antagonist and try to make you switch sides as you go through the game.     I haven’t completed it yet, so hopefully the ending is even close as good to the original, but so far technically the best game I’ve ever played and the narrative, although sad, is so gripping and I simultaneously want to play it all and make it last longer!

    No game other than TLOU part 1 has made me as emotional as this one. Second best game I've ever played. Seems like the people disliking this game wanted an exact copy of the last of us. It builds on the first game and improves in every aspect. Don't believe the comments about pandering, or pushing agendas because it's just not true. One of the best games I've ever played

Ну и эти 40% игры за Эбби, то чего я сам побаивался и не хотел-забудьте. Игра, сюжет, масштаб того, что происходит во время игровой сессии за неё просто поражает. Эбби великолепна, раскрыта и показана нам полностью, она замечательна. И вы, возможно, сможете ее полюбить не меньше Элли. Я почти смог. I think the problem was not because he died, but the way it happened you know, he didn’t trust anyone in the first game, he even realized that he had a trap with that guy who asked for help in the first one, joel was very smart, the guy was know that strange people could be dangerous, now at 2 ... The guy enters a group full of strangers and already leaves saying the name, I thought he was going to say a false name, he knows that there are a lot of people wanting to his head, even more after he killed a lot of people at the end of the first, I found a hole they made with joel, it seems that they needed a purposeful hole to get the guy killed ...Man, proof that the story is bad, just look at the first TLOU, the stuff is unanimous, there are no people who hate the story of the first, now with this second, look at the **** that is going on. And man, you don’t have to pay the intellectual and show the meaning behind the story, because in reality, general, you’re not **** doing it. While killing the first game protagonist isn't a surprising move (and I don't have problems with it), but the way Naughty Dog did it was very disrespectful. Playing as Abby could be a refreshing experience, but her background story too awful and poorly written that I couldn't enjoy playing as her.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

    If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
