As the story evolves and more information is given to you, it is possible to picture how things will end. But if you really liked the first game, you can't say that the characters acted different to what you may expect from them in every single situation they were put on.

You want revenge, you want Ellie to get revenge, but Ellie did get revenge. She destroyed Abby's world. Abby was left torn to pieces BY Ellie. Ellie killed every single one of her loved ones. But as the game tries to tell you, is revenge really the way?

After Tommy's visit and Ellie's visions of the past, tormenting her, It was obvious that she couldn't leave things like that, She couldn't have lived not knowing what would have happened if she went to the very end.

The conclusion is that it wasn't necessary to kill her, She realized it too late.

Yes, she lost 2 fingers, yes, she returned to an empty home. But we got to know Dina, and DIna has a strong character and she was not the kind of woman to sit tight and wait for Ellie. She couldn't do that to herself.

In the end, are we left with unanswered questions? Yes, we were. But wasn't it the same way at the end of the first part?

Other than the controversial plot of the game. You cannot deny, it is impossible to say, that the game plays your emotions to the edge. I felt the sadness and urge to cry when Joel died. I felt the anger and need for revenge. The need for revenge drove me through the entire game. I felt outrageous when the game was presenting me Ellie as a boss, and asking me to hurt her as Abby, I let Ellie kill Abby no less than 20 times before I took action. But here is the genius, when you see what you think is the end of the game, you are so mad that Ellie left things like that, only to get proved wrong when you see what revenge costs.

You laugh, you cry, you get angry. The range of emotions this game makes you feel is proof of its level of development and greatness.

The game play, graphics, sound quality and soundtrack are just freaking phenomenal. I'm speechless. But this is Naughty Dog we are talking about. So we were not expecting less. Gustavo Santaolalla, Chapeau! Hats off!

So hate me haters, but I freaking loved the game.

Spend your money on other games, there are many indie developers who deserve it more. Also don't forget about the crunch and terrible employee treatment from Naughty Dog, stop supporting this company.

    2. Game playing pace is dreadful and suffering. I spent 40% of my time playing someone I find difficult to connect to. I guess most of the players wouldn't feel related to this new role.

    3. The essence of gaming is about building empathy with the character with gameplaying and storytelling. Obviously, this game does not meet this standard at all.

    4. The promotion of this game is all about deceptive marketing, false advertisement, misleading message, and dishonest influencer content marketing. This is absolutely intolerable! This is absolutely illegal!

Yes, you could definitely go ahead to buy and try this game. But, apparently, you could spend money much more wisely under this unprecedented economic downturn.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I thoroughly loved my time with this game. It wasn't until the very end of the game that I understood how ambitious this game truly was. And to me personally, I felt that it landed it perfectly with the ending we got.

The gameplay is fantastic. It is much better than the first game in every regard and it gives the player a ton of things to work with, given all the different scenarios.
The story started out very strongly, and it was very shocking to see what happened to Joel. But at the same time, I knew there would be a reason for it, and there was.

There were points in the story where I was conflicted while playing as Abby because at this point in the game you are taught to hate her, but as I got to engage with her and her personal drama I really started to enjoy playing as her as well. (also she has many of the best encounters in the game, hands down).

I feel that they were able to make gameplay that properly challenges you mechanically but also support the story by showing how tough this world is. The graphics are also easily at the top of this industry. If not the very top, very close to it. Even though a few dynamic lights etc, were missing in the final game, I would still say that overall it pretty much reached the quality bar we saw from the pre-release demonstrations.

The story supports the gameplay and the gameplay supports the story. Other elements such as audio and graphics are also crucial in making both story and gameplay what they are.

This game is massive, and I don't think you can truly understand what it is about unless you play it from beginning to end on the hardest difficulty available (Survivor) to truly understand the hardships these characters go through.

I am only giving it a 10 because it is a truly unique game that deserves recognition for what it has done. Again, this is my personal opinion.

While i get why some gamers will not like the death of Joel, in reality it was the only way we could have Ellie go for a never ending vengeance. As well what Joel did, needed to have consequences. There is always two sides of a coin. I think that the game is excellent, graphically a masterpiece, the story takes risks, as is touching our so beloved characters in a way that we do not like and that is exactly coherent within the world they live and the consequences of the actions in that world.

The ending, even bittersweet is nothing but derivations of love, vengeance, pardon, break ups...

    It,s a game for adults and i think it’s a masterpiece.

What I learnt from this game is, this game makes me understand that human beings could never understand each other, either between Ellie/Abby, or between gamers. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I remember finishing TLOU 1 I started at the the credits for like 15 minutes, wtf I need a part 2 this game is god tier. So when I heard part 2 will be a thing I could not be more happy for video games. We watch first trailers with Ellie and Joel everyone was so hyped. June 19th you know what happened...
Let's start with positive points, graphic is really well done I haven't encountered any bug/crash which I would say is a good thing. No slowdown as well. Gameplay is okay feel the same as first part but I don't play this game for the gameplay but for the story like a majority of people.
The story is the bad point, you remember the intro of tlou well TLOU 2 was kinda fun, looked like a teen tv show... Then, a bit of action and Joel dies? We have been teased with trailer with Joel and Ellie all we wanted is to know how the relationship would go and we get this?
Despite this event, I kinda liked the part with Ellie, probably because I had a story goal and I was playing Ellie. But dear god, the second part with Abby? I'm sorry but all I wanted was a skip button it felt so empty so weird like could have been another game. The character is bad designed ( not only this one but all new ones), the story around is weird, flashbacks for this girl, who cares?
The ending was garbage too I might be too dumb but I think I do not understand if there is a message for anger to show or something else?
I've always been recommending the part 1 to friends for the story even though they do not really play this type of game since this game could be watched like a movie so if you remove the story the last of us is not even an average game. Even the music is not good enough compared to the first one.

As a nutshell we were expecting so much and we got nothing. Such a waste

But absolutely drops the ball on a boring and dead narrative that's barely intriguing at the best of times. The whole intro sets the entire tone for the rest of the game... disappointing. The intro skips four years, and does nothing to tell us what happened during that time, nor why there's a group of fireflies who have somehow managed to track Joel down in the middle of nowhere? Not to mention as a man who full well knows that he is being hunted, drops the ball on keeping up an alias. I have no major issues with Abby, but the plot for Joel to die lacking major impact because it just dropped it on you out of nowhere with no real lead up. Expand

ND chose to be bold when they could have made full fan-service that would surely pleased more players. Instead, they decided to make us question everything and everyone, to make us do things we might not have wanted to do (not in a "the game is bad" way, you'll understand while playing).
The levels of emotions in this Part II is equal if not even superior than Part I but most of them are completely different. While Part I was about love, attachment, finding someone etc. Part II is about hatred, fear, revenge, anger... Some will like it, others won't.

The graphics are probably the best I've seen yet, it's the first time we've come so close to photo-realism, and yes, I've played RDR2 on PC 4K, GOW, Detroit... Uncharted 4 was already impressive for its time, they did it again.
Gameplay: It's clearly not a revolution. Just a good evolution from Part I. Everything is simple, fluid, fast. Effective.
The music is incredible, maybe even better overall than the first game. Gustavo Santaolalla is always masterful and moving, and Mac Quayle's action compositions serve the game perfectly.

Negative points: We can regret the absence of a duo as powerful as Joel/Ellie from the first one, a few lengths in the second part of the game, and a small passage towards the end which displeased me but it's only a really personal opinion.

I find the review-bombing on this game (and the others by the way) quite a pity. Especially when there are either no arguments, or when the person gives his opinion about the leaks and speaks as if he really played the game, like for example "Abby is trans-gender" when ABSOLUTELY NOT. And I really saw reviews talking about it as if it's a fact or as if this game is LGBT propaganda when it's not at all, and believe me I'm the first one to say it when it's the case for other games/movies. There was no forcing from the devs on that side. Unless seeing a lesbian couple shocks you that much?

To conclude, 9/10. And some people are surprised that a lot of people who loved the first one can love this one. Well let me tell you: The Last of Us is my favourite game. The Last of Us Part II is now my second favourite.

7 years after the masterpiece that was The Last Of Us, The Last Of Us Part II was the perfect love song and sequel to its predecessor. Filled with vengeance, love, and loss, the sequel does more than keep you on the edge of your seat with it’s immersive storytelling, beautiful graphics, and twists and turns guaranteed to leave you speechless.
Plot: within the first hour, Joel is tragically tortured and killed by a new character known as Abby and her group. It’s not clear who she is but you later find out that she and another accomplice are former fireflies and we as the player come to the conclusion that their act was simply a retaliation after what Joel had done back at the hospital controlled by the Fireflies. This sends Ellie and Joel’s brother Tommy on a warpath to avenge Joel’s murder and kill each and every last person that was present during the execution. Gripped by fear, anger, and a sense of guilt, Ellie’s journey through the story is met by hardships and heavy losses with nothing but her sheer will to settle the score. With the exceptional character development by the writers you learn that Abby and Ellie are just 2 sides of the same coin when you find out that Abby’s father was the lead doctor and surgeon that was gunned down by Joel during his shakedown of the hospital. Ellie and Abby’s final showdown is nothing less than a tear jerker knowing both of these strong female leads want nothing but to alleviate the heavy burden both of them carry. The Last Of Us Part II will go down as one of, if not THE greatest video game in modern history and is a perfect send to the PlayStation 4 as we enter a new era of next generation of gaming consoles.

It is important to understand that the player is not playing as them, but as an already built character, that is going to do things you might not agree with. We're watching a story and interacting with it, but it is not OUR story. Is Joel's, Ellie's, and Abby's story. The graphics, sound, and gameplay are in the same level as the first game: incredible, hypnotic, very, very, very well made. It is truly art.

This game, unfortunately, is recovering a lot of bad reviews. Which, a lot of them are completely valid. It is fine not to enjoy a game and have a strong opinion on it. But you cannot hate a game because it is political. Everything is political. Even if it's very subtle, it still is. It is super important to have this perspective in the world we are living right now. This game won't make you feel happy. This game will make you think and feel it. Even if you disliked it, it is something you won't stop thinking about for a while.

And then this game started screaming “Gay Rights” and I was in it all the way. An out gay woman traveling with her girlfriend?? Gay bookstores? Yes please! And then halfway through, when it became clear I was suddenly playing as Abby full time, I got pissed. I didn’t like her and didn’t think that could change. And then Lev shows up and my heart exploded. If there was a third game, please center it around Abby and Lev.

I’m not sure it has the replayability that the first one had just because of its weight, but if anything makes me go back, it’ll be the combat system. It is smooth, dynamic, and having enemies who are individuals that seem to think and feel is incredible.

It really is the greatest game of the generation.

I was furious about it. However after finishing the game, I accepted it. Accept that anything can happen to even someone that's strong. Some billionaires even fall and lives on the streets now. So why can't a video game character like Joel make mistakes?? Even if people are furious about the fact that he died too early. The character development for everyone else were amazing. The ending was another level of amaziness. Even though the game has some minor set backs., But it's still hands down one of the best games in gaming history. Naughty dog has done it again. However, with such astonishing achievement, the story which these Technical performance give Advantages to tell, the story itself is poor. In order to not spoil, I could say the story divide into two parts, almost can say it could two different storyline for the game. Yet, Naught Dog have made poor decision to combine and how they did it. Which nearly bur all the good sides of the stories, and made players wondering what the purpose for playing, which I believe is doesn’t and shouldn’t matter with other values and message developers what to carry out. This feeling is far more significant when one playing on Hard/Survivor difficulty, when the story is one of the biggest motivation for challenging gameplay, unlike any FromSoft game that is gameplay is already far more than enough.

One might argued that TLOU2 is relatively good in a absolute standard, but lets not forget many Big Companies and Studios always could create new game with good graphic etc, which they should able to do so. Good Graphics are just the means to present a great story, especially for story telling game like TLOU. The Lord the Rings Trilogy didn’t won multiple Oscar by high budgets or Fancy CGI, but the story and world that Tolkien created.

OMG no what I am going to be as brutally honest, if you want to play a game with good graphics and do not care about the storyline then play this game. I AM A STORY GAME person so when I played this game I WAS ABSOLUTELY DISAPPOINTED AT WHAT NAUGHTY DOG WAS THINKING. The way my GUY JOEL MAY HE RIP WAS KILLED WAS BEYOND STUPID AND INFURIATING. we all know very well that Joel was a smart badass man he would never reveal his location nor say his name knowing how many people he had crossed. Also, the misleading trailers were not helpful at all like really, I know they were like ''do not want to spoil'' but they could have easily used all the flashbacks as footage. Moreover, how could you show a 2-4 min trailer about a character that WE WERE GOING TO PLAY 10 HOURS AS (felt longer)? The first game was just amazing the story was written to a perfect t I even thought y did they carry on they should have left it there. The whole entire 25-hour game is pretty much made to hunt down ABBY, so when the ending came the only thing gamers were holding onto was when knowing Joel died at the hands of ABBY soo obvi when we don't kill ABBY I was like ''WHAT THE HELL' haha that is exactly what I said. Its not even that, its the fact Ellie is left with absolutely nothing, that made me think wow the disrespect to both characters I was shook. So what else can Ellie's character now go off of? The game obviously wants you to like Abby, but what did they expect when you kill him off like that and fans have been waiting 7 YEARS. Abby saves kids hugs dogs while Ellie kills a pregnant woman and hurts dogs like I was heartbroken. I am not going to lie the graphics are amazing but the story is just terrible. A whole 7 years man I am actually so sad. How low do we get sex scenes really, the first story was about a loving relationship about Joel and Ellie, yes I know at one point Joel had to die but not like this like really we got to that level. I also wanted facts about Ellie's immunity the facts behind it and all that cool stuff but NO. I hope Naughty dog can redeem from this I really have NO CLUE HOW but overall the game was a letdown. And that is my opinion well I hope anyone that reads this understands and has a good day. But I have to say the voice actors are only doing their job so I do not blame them.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is not a 0 or 10 rating game. It depends on your style. I'm single-player focused. I play games for their visuals/atmosphere, play style, and most important storytelling.
On visuals/atmosphere this game is phenomenal. One of the top in this gaming generation. Respect on that front.
On play style, the game style is interesting at first but reverts to stealth kills or smashing square in most cases This gets boring very fast. Replayability is out the window. Its a one and done if you can get through it.
On the story side, this is where the discussion starts.
Whenever a game has to force a character out of character to make the story go forward, I lose interest. Whenever events don't make sense, I lose interest. Let me say, I lost interest big time.
Normally I don't review games, however, this mess of a storyline compelled me, specifically because of all the hyped 95-100 reviews by critics (hacks).
Say we keep the events as is, the method of telling the story is massively mistaken. Had the game started with Abby's story, her emotional turmoil of losing her father, her hunt of Joel leading to killing him, then switching to the story from Ellie's side, I might have been inclined to appreciate her point of view.
However, seeing Abby killing Joel, then switching to her side, there is no chance of me liking her. Whether I play 10 hours or 50 hours. I've already made my mind.
Forcing me to kill a dog, then reprimanding me after the fact, by forcing me to feel guilty, cheap storytelling tricks.
Killing 50+ humans, then feeling bad cause the last human I killed was pregnant. How does that make sense?
Killing every human in sight, then stopping at the last one, suddenly makes things ok?
Leaving a great life, to go kill someone. Killing everything in your path, then letting them go? It is soo out of character that it feels extremely shoehorned. The character of Ellie acts 2 dimensional in such an unrealistic way that it doesn't feel real.
It makes me think of Season 1 of Arrow, where Arrow kills 30+ bodyguards, but only wounds the leader. Why is this 1 person more important than the other 30 I've brutally beaten/murdered?
In my opinion, the story was deliberately set in a way to mess with people, for pure shock value thinking this is great storytelling.
TLOU 1 was a great story, it built characters, built attachments, made me care about 2 fictional characters. It made me like Ellie and Joel so much, that I didn't care that Joel's choice stripped humanity of a possible cure. Screw the cure, I like these 2 characters and their interaction. That's powerful storytelling and character-building!
TLOU2 did nothing for the characters. Beyond Ellie, who I liked cause of the 1st game, there is not a single character that made an impact on me. Sadly enough, had I known Ellie from TLOU2 only, I'm sure I wouldn't have liked her either. Her actions are incoherent and give no closure.
This is where my scoring of the game goes to a 3.
    No character attachments.
I won't remember this game positively.
If someone mentions this game to me, I'll advise them not to play it.
Sad to see a game with such great potential being wasted for mere shock value and cheap storytelling tricks.
Great storytelling will make a game live forever. Nice graphics won't. I'd play a remastered TLOU1 anytime, there is absolutely no way I'd play a remastered TLOU2 at any stage.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's so interesting to me to see the backlash of how people are upset in the lack of control they have over the story in The Last of Us 2, when that was literally the climax of the first game. The game is great, it has some pacing issues, there are points where I just want to skip the travel and go to the next main plot point. Since Uncharted 2, Naughty Dog have been pushing the line between how much "down time" they can put between action set pieces before it becomes a bit of a drag. To me, both Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us 2 lean too heavily into these areas. The Last of Us 2 at least has the advantage of giving you the chance to use these downtime segments to search for items if you are running low or like to make sure you are properly stocked up. This isn't a huge issue, but it does make the Last of Us 2 hard to sit down and play in large bursts.

The story also drags on a bit long. While I think the story for the game is fine, and I'd argue I enjoyed it better than the last two Uncharted games, there's no doubt that it is bloated. There are a ton of characters, there are a lot of plot threads that have to be resolved that it can be a bit overwhelming.

The choice to switch to Abby for a huge chunk of the game was infuriating at first, but as I played it, I calmed down and took time to put some rational thought into it, and overall it was a great inclusion. Abby is not a great character, she's not horrible and there are some little hints as to who she is as a person sprinkled in if you look into her reactions to some of the documents you find, but there were definitely a lot more opportunities that they missed out on in regards to developing her more.

Overall though, the story is fine. Killing Joel is fine. The Fireflies had focused so much into making the cure, it makes sense that they'd want to send a small army after the man who killed one of the last medical professionals on the planet. Joel trusting Abby also makes sense. Joel has changed, just like he changed throughout the course of the game. People forget that between the moment where he didn't trust the "injured" hunter, he manages to become trustful of Sam and his brother, at the end of that same chapter. Living in a safe community, where hunters aren't nearly as prevalent, it would make sense that finding a seemingly peaceful human in a moment of intense stress, that he would trust them. He isn't out roaming the world constantly fighting humans anymore.

The story isn't revolutionary by any means, but it does create a commentary on the absurdity of protagionists in main games killing literally everyone they come across. It admittedly doesn't handle this topic with the greatest amount of sensitivity, and would have been better served developing Abby as a foil to this mindset, but it does its job. In this universe, everyone is willing to kill everyone on a moment's notice, regardless of who they are or what their past is.

Beyond the story, the game looks great, the actual graphics themselves aren't anything super exceptional, but in typical Naughty Dog style, they have pushed the graphics to their most extreme limit in terms of designing the game around looking great with what they are using.

Sound design is pretty solid, I won't say it's the most exceptional game in this regard, but the guns sound nice, the character dialogue sounds good.

The gameplay is similar to the original game. There have been some notable changes, some of which are a bit of a step backward (or in the wrong direction, I guess), and some of them are pretty great. The gunplay feels awesome, pulling off chains of kills feels even better than the first game. The upgrade system (for both your character and guns) is fun and lets you lean into whatever strategies tend to line up with what you enjoy doing, and all of them seemed viable from my experiences. The variety of enemies is far superior to the original game, though due to this game's length, it doesn't feel like a huge difference because this game is a good bit longer than the original, so those enemy types still appear a lot. Infected + human sections are a nice change of pace, it's fun to see how they will interact with each other in cool ways.

The puzzles are more varied than the first game, though admittedly still nothing to write home about.

Realistically, I think this game is about a 9/10, however, due to review bombing from children who haven't played the game, I'm going to give it that extra point to try to make the review score more indicative of what the score should be for people who have actually PLAYED THE GAME.

I think, it's cool because explore the human behaviour and the actions have consequences, also show the human like human with errors and hits.

As someone who managed to avoid all the leaks online and go into this not as a huge fan of the previous game but still excited to see where the story would pick up and the direction it would go even I was disappointed and can only feel sorry for the long time hardcore fans of the game who were waiting years for this.

I don’t want this be entirely negative, The art teams have done an amazing job from the way the world looks and feels, the music and even the gameplay feels improved upon which I was very happy to see I was honestly expecting the “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” mentality but they actually tweaked it and added new features to gameplay which really improved upon the first game. These are honesty the only reason why I can give this game any score at all and while the job they did was phenomenal the main part of a game and the main reason for the low score is the poor story line.

I have no problems with them killing off Joel in fact I was even caught off guard and excited to see how Ellie and the other characters like Tommy would react and with their emotions, I was even hoping to see more development into Ellie the DLC and even the first trailer for the game showed more emphasis on her sexuality and in a infected destroyed world I would have loved to see more of the struggle she faces and deals with them growing as I played more. But that didn’t seem to really happen the character growth of this game was a major let down especially compared to the first one where we get to see from the very beginning of joe and Ellie to where they end up. Abby felt so forced and boring that at parts of the game I was so bored of the story I was just rushing through to finish as quick as possible. The last few cutscenes I ended up treating like Netflix by replying to texts on my phone instead of being fully immersed in the game and invested as I was TLOU. I’m not saying don’t buy the game or play it, but honestly watch some gameplay or a review from someone you may often find yourself agreeing with first and see their opinions you may enjoy this game and if you do I’m honestly jealous but don’t just buy this game expecting it to live up to be an amazing sequel because chances are it won’t

The game is still utterly incredible, no matter what other users seem to think. As such, I will focus on the flaws that I found. The level design is too linear, making backtracking impossible even when all that would be required is walking back up a somewhat slippery hill. It is very easy to get lost searching for supplies and collectibles while losing track of where you have and have not searched, simply because the environments are so chaotic and the items so easily missable. I played the game as thoroughly as possible, and still missed a ton of collectibles—often due to being unaware that jumping over a certain ledge would lead to story progression and irreversible progression. The game could definitely be more open, and after all that time in development I am fairly disappointed that it is not. Only in the beginning is there any semblance of a somewhat “open” world. But that soon faded through linearly—although perfectly—tailored segments and environments built around encounters, as well as travel between encounters. This sucks because the world seems to have so much potential for intuitive traversal. Finally, this is a great game despite a seemingly shallow story over revenge and PTSD. Most people will feel this to be a worthwhile experience, albeit an incredibly unsatisfying one. This is by design, it is meant to be controversial and—probably—series-ending. I cannot see how a sequel, with the same characters, would be possible after this. As stated early on, this is meant to be an unpleasant experience during what is—for many people—a very unpleasant time. Do not play this if you currently are not in a good headspace.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let me start off by saying I saw the spoilers for this game before I ever even played Part I. I bought the remastered edition a month before the release of Part II and I could hardly put down the controller for the few days it took me to complete and it IS a fantastic work of art.

One thing that riddled me with anxiety throughout Part I, was leaving every door I walk through open afterwards, this is something that was changed in Part II (thank you). The combat system had a massive upgrade and the ability to dodge was a relief too and it all feels so fluid. Being able to crouch or prone in tall grass really added to the stealth aspect of the game and if a game allows me to sneak around like a ninja, luring people to the grass to hide their bodies, I am all over that ****

The flashbacks (particularly Ellie's) are beautiful moments, there is no better way I could describe it.

It has such strong horror vibes, at times akin to the likes of Dead Space (my No.1 favourite single player game until now) or Resident Evil because you would come across stalkers or clickers stuck in fungal growths in the walls and never knew if they would come to life which I loved (there is a boss battle which I will talk of further on) And the combat as well as weapons for Abby's playthrough are by far superior which is there to make her beginning more bearable.

I'll talk a bit about character development and how it has improved compared to Part I do this is where you need to be weary of SPOILERS.

I'll get straight to the golf club incident, Ellie and Tommy witness the brutal death of a much loved character and I absolutely despised the fact that I would have to play as the murderer but Naughty Dog deserve so much praise for how well written it was. It takes a good 15 hours to fully understand the driving forces behind Abby's actions but before that you do begin warming up to her after how much she did to help 2 of her enemies and through her optional dialogues with them, you see that she begins to change and that her motives are almost identical to Ellie's motives but there are some massive differences at the main one being, Ellie witnessing the death of her father figure with her own eyes and the fact that they had a falling out adds to Ellie's guilt. It took a while to realise it but Ellie is living with PTSD and the expectation that she had to get revenge whereas Abby came across her father's body and had years to hunt down and prepare herself for the golf club incident. I **** loved Ellie from the start and hated Abby from that moment but Abby is not a monster, they are just continuing the endless circle of pointless revenge and how far each will go to accomplish that act. Ellie is pushed by outside forces to get it done and there is a point in which she cannot physically or emotionally handle some of the things she has done and it gets harder and harder to watch and listen to the malice in her words. While Abby in contrast starts as a cold-blooded killer who begins to show compassion for her enemy and I loved those moments when Lev and Yara opened up to Abby, those kids were wonderful and the mechanism that allowed an emotional connection to Abby.

The Rat King (the only boss battle in the game) Uber Dead Space/Resident Evil vibes here, not as difficult as I thought it would be but on at least 2 occasions I almost yanked my PS4 off of my desk because my PS4 Gold headset was connect to the PS4 via USB (make sure yours is charged before starting this part of Abby's playthrough) And when it comes to the final showdown, you spend every moment as Abby begging Naughty Dog in the hopes you don't kill Ellie and your dream comes true. You then get to enjoy another beautiful but long cinematic of Ellie living a peaceful life until a PTSD episode and an angry visit from Tommy turns her world upside down, I was certain I was watching the final scene of the game but as Ellie you pursue Abby to California, witness the horrible treatment of survivors by the Rattlers where Abby and Lev are held captive. At this point I knew how this game would end but couldn't be 100% certain, as Ellie witnessed Abby's clear compassion and love for Lev she can't help but feel that Ellie herself is the monster after threatening to kill an unconscious Lev in order to force a visibly malnourished Abby into a fight to the death. Ellie realises that nothing will be accomplished either way and has done nothing but lose the things most important to her. Part II is a masterpiece. I have never been so emotionally invested in a game before and the only reason I am writing this review is because my housemate has yet to complete the game and I would have probably started pulling out my hair in frustration if I didn't talk about how much I loved this game. It deserves the 95/100 metacritic score, without a doubt.

Truly a masterpiece. Gameplay, graphics, characters, overall atmosphere. Game has some problems with storyline but even if u think that main story is bad - it doesn't deserve 0/10. im rate it for 10 only because whole bunch of idiots decide that its good too just ruin the game rating for no reason at all. Honestly - 7.5/10

Bugs/Glitches: Found a few in my play-through. Not enough to turn me off of the game but they were there,
others have reported game-breaking bugs but I have not come across them.

Music/Audio: As close to perfect as possible, will fully immerse you in a post-apocalyptic Seattle and depress you in the sad and down-trodden atmosphere the game places you in.

Game-play: If you liked the first game then you will enjoy this, not much has changed in terms of combat and scavenging. Combat is a bit spammy, animations are the main improvement with environmental animations tied into basic combat. Less puzzles and even fewer thoughtful puzzles are a shame.

Story: This is the massive negative for this game. With a game so story focused, this is why I've brought the score so low even with my glowing appraisal of the other aspects of the game. The story is filled with plot-holes, manipulation of the player and cheap ploys to get you to "feel" for a new protagonist.
There are so many easy tricks the writers use to try to play with your emotions and then act is if it was some profound twist. When in reality the story is just a massive misery/gore simulator that tries to look down its nose at you with a shallow "revenge isn't the answer" plot for some characters while
neatly ignoring that moral for other characters. The best way to describe this insult of a story is the writers trying to gaslight you into thinking this is some big statement on morals and virtue when its just them taking you on a Stockholm Syndrome roller-coaster.

Verdict: If you want to play this game as a tech-demo and simply enjoy the gameplay/visuals then by all means have at it. But if you have any hope for a decent story that builds on the first game then you will be very very sad and disappointed. Vote with your wallet if you don't like this sort of thing and
    wait for a heavy sale.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
