The game is terrible. They failed at this game and Neil Druckmann trolling people on Father's day is absolutely disgusting. I hope people see through this garbage. We hate the character of Abby and ND failed to make her a sympathetic character.

ellie says she can try to forgive joel and in the next day he gets killed by abby filled taken by vengeance because joel killed her father. Ellie sees joel last moments and gets mad obviously.
She goes for a hunt for revenge almost loses her humanity on the hunt same as joel . Killing everyone who stands against her until she gets to abby to get her revenge. Abby gets filled with revenge again killing the people that are close to ellie. the game is a hunt for revenge from both sides. It has a sad ending showing that ellie lost her family and everything she had with dina by revenge Great game dunno why people are unliking it so much

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Gameplay was fun, graphics were just amazing one of the driving reason to push me through the game. I was enjoying it until about the halfway point I see why did Joel in and what they were going for there but they lost me when they forced me to play as that hideous character Abby. Every second I spent playing as her I wanted her to just die, spent a lot of time just jumping her off cliffs. If they would've just pushed the Ellie revenge plot straight through they would've at least made a safe bet there that people would've been happy. Instead they try to make this curve ball bull crap that just leaves a sour taste in your mouth when you finish, and I even had a feeling that was gonna happen too. Extremely disappointed I don't know what naughty dog was thinking with the story... I'll definitely never fire this game up again I don't even want the plat they can keep it. Expand

Terrible game. Did not enjoy the characters. Wasn’t happy with gameplay. felt very boring. Can’t imagine going from the 1st game to this garbage. Please save your money and do not purchase this game you will regret it deeply. Art work was the only nice thing about this game and I’m sure there will be other better games with artwork just as nice. I can’t even write more about it.

I was not planning on buying this game for a few reasons. I felt like the developers were pushing an agenda that was taking priority over storytelling/gameplay and a couple of key points in the game were spoiled for me. In short, I loved it. There were a few lines of dialogue that turned me off or made me roll my eyes but the game itself is much more than that. There is plenty of enjoyment to be had from this game and I hope that others give it a chance. Even knowing key points about the ending, and feeling apprehensive about it as I played through, I never got to the point where I felt like it wasn't worth it to see things through. Two things keep me from giving the game a 10/10, one is a particular boss fight that is.... "stealth based?" which I did not have fun with. It was like hitting a brick wall as far as progress in the game. The other issue that I have is the play time/lack of replay value. While I enjoyed the game immensely I don't see much to do in a new game+ besides go through the story again which is something I might do years down the road but for now the case is just going to collect dust.

TLDR - was biased about the game, wife bought it for me, played it, enjoyed it, give me a reason to play new game +

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. TLoU 2 was trying its best to recreate the success and brutality of Game Of Thrones, and even have a "red wedding moment", and instead - only succeeded in recreating the failure, and futility of Game Of Thrones, Season 8.
The good: The stealth gameplay in TLoU 2 is a massive improvement over the first game. Feels more polished and evolved, like me sneaking around in Metal Gear Solid 5's open world. Its a shame, because this gameplay would suit a slightly more open-world survival/stealth game. Especially with how GOOD this game looks and animates and plays. I was often face-first into walls, trying to zoom in on small details, and reading old posters, menus. Looking around and exploring what was left of some persons old bedroom, or house. The VISUAL craft and design did a great job at world building...
But lets move onto how the narrative starts to get in the way of this improved gameplay and world-building. TLoU 2 is constantly trying to drip-feed you narrative, from conversations you overhear from NPC's (which some were fine), to the hundreds of hand-written notes left on every preset dead body, in every house, or building... requiring you to stop and read to tell their mini-story in this post-apocalyptic America. This works fine if done sparingly, but this game inundates you with letter-after-letter, from some person who was about to die who decided to write a full page journal entry on whatever scrap-paper they could find; to even groups of people communicating together, by what seems like letter-only, who clearly lived in the same neighbourhood together. It ends up accomplishing the opposite, It goes from world-building, to immediately pulling you out of the game once the heavy-hand of the narrative makes itself too pronounced in the world around you. I was bored when Doom 3 did this over 15 years ago. This bleeds into the patrolling enemies talking out loud EVERY time you're within ear-shot, trying their hardest to make you feel guilty about the person you're about to kill. It becomes almost laughable after a certain point. The game is trying so hard to MAKE me feel a certain way, and never earns it. "Society is crumbling and people are turning on eachother" "one mans hero is anothers' villain". That nameless NPC you're about to stealth kill actually has a name, a dog, friends AND a girlfriend. It becomes over-saturated. This trope has been done to death in the zombie genre. It seems weird for it to become the LASER focused premise of the sequel. By the end of the game, I felt like I was being bludgeoned over the head by the writers at Naughty Dog . Yes, I got your point . Now where is the good part?

The first game was a shorter, concise narrative, that built up to an emotional ending it EARNED. I understood everyone's perspective, and motivations, even Marlene and the Fireflies. But this sequel, TLoU 2, does not earn any of the emotions it's TRYING to get out of the player. The writing is inconsistent, changing the characters personality and motivations and having them make decisions that don't make sense.
And with how progressive Naughty Dog seems to be politically, which is reflected even more in this sequel, has me questioning why they would build up one of the gaming industries only prominent LGBT protagonists like Ellie, a character that even the sexist "gamer-bros" fell in love with and rooted for. To go from successfully normalizing having a gay, female lead, and then simply destroy all that, destroy that character, just to re-tell the same old "revenge bad" story. Seems like a such a wasted opportunity to do much more from a progressive standpoint. And without getting too much into spoilers, lets just say that by the end of the game, Joel got it easy - Ellie's character is not only destroyed within the narrative of the game, she's also destroyed in fandom sense as well, her icon was taken down a notch. And if Naughty dog thinks "BUT THAT WAS THE POINT" my response is,
"well, your point kinda sucks, and you missed a great opportunity to platform a gay character and raise them up to iconic status."
To summarize, TLoU 2 is a technically impressive game, that suffers massively from its narrative in two ways - the narrative itself is unsatisfying and depressing, (again, reminding me of torture porn and futility of a movie like 2002's french film "Irreversible") and because the narrative is so stilted, the gameplay-loop also suffers from that compartmentalized story that jumps not just from character-to-character, but goes into flashbacks within flashbacks. It never really establishes a good flow.

The game as part 2 does'nt work. They deconstructed the main character, to give space for an not original unrevenge script. We would only like a cohesive story with the two parts, but Naughty dog's crew just only followed the flow of Game of Thrones in **** in the history like they wanted. Gameplay, sounds and graphics is amazing. 5/10 is a great note to a history write with lazy in a hurry.

I got the game because I wanted to see how ND handles a story like this (I had seen the spoilers but decided to give it a chance anyway because I love harsh stories). The only thing this game does right is making the player empathize with Ellie because we are pissed with her— but even from Abby’s perspective, it isn’t justified enough. I love writing imperfect, flawed characters, but this story, it was too prescriptive in terms of theme and the emotions it was trying to covey and that is where it falls short. Yeah I love the cruel world of TLOU universe but there are tedious ways to approach those themes and then there are ways not to; this game was just negligent and crude. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

Just been done with the game and got to say it's way worse then I thought. It's disappointing to be honest as they try to feed you an unwanted story by making you play as Abby after and before she kills Joel.
The Gameplay and Graphics are good but the AI is stupid as hell. The enemies don't even response to your Allies. Dina crawls right beside them and they pretend they don't have eyes

The Gameplay and Graphics are good but the AI is stupid as hell. The enemies don't even response to your Allies. Dina crawls right beside them and they pretend they don't have eyes and it's laughable. I understand most games now provide an Ally so the gameplay is not as boaring or so that it doesn't get lonely but dude. Put in the extra effort to polish it and make the AI to detect your Allies as well.
The starting of the game where we first get to see the settlement was so good . If they really wanted they could have gone in a different way and tell us a heartwarming lovable story but they had to be disrespectful to its fans and put in their **** agenda and make it worse.
If you are a new comer you will enjoy the game but for the fans of the previous it just fuels us with harate and ending the game with saying violence is bad after Ellie killing thousands of innocent people .
The game might as be named The End of us and not the last of Us.
I have a huge games collection but I particularly shared this game from a friend because I have no wish to help the developers for being disrespectful. You don't make us Love a piece of work and then destroy it for your **** agenda. Might as well make a new IP for it.
Anyways I didn't enjoy the experience.

I actually praise naughty because they are the only company to have the balls to make a controversial game like this. I'm currently SPOILER WARNING 13 hours in and at the part of the game where you play as abby and see why she took revenge on Joel many people might not remember at the end of part 1 when Joel saves ellie the doctor that stood up to joel was actually abbys dad and he was loved in there community highly which you could probably understand why she did it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is one of greatest games this year, one of the best games in this generation and just one of the greatest games of all time. Despite all the controversy surrounding half-fake leaks without context, review bombing and baseless disgusting rumours and death threats, the game is out and people can now judge it for themselves. Let's see what it's all about:

Story: This story is brutal, haunting, harsh and depressing. It takes place in a world where there's no happy ending. Right from the start it shocks you with a powerful even that makes sense in hindsight. After that, a journey start, involving likeable characters with nice interactions between them, a lot of powerful moments and big twists. In the second half the game goes in an unpredictable direction, surprising you, making you feel confused, playing with your emotions. And in the end it all reaches it's climax. A brutal and exhausting climax, that capitalizes on everything that happened before it and leaves you empty and just a little bit hopeful. It's not a bright and cheery story, that's for sure and it can not work for some people, but it's not bad as some people would like you to believe. The characters are likeable, despite committing human mistakes and showing their darkest side in their worst moments. You can't just pick a side and stick to it, because this is a very morally grey world and a very morally grey story. Despite all the good moments, some things can fall a little flat and the story relies on coincidences too much. 9/10.

Gameplay: The gameplay is phenomenal. The game takes everything good from the first one and builds on it. Level design is nice and you can use fully to your advantage. Melee system allows you to brutally dispatch enemies and avoid damage thanks to the new "dodge" button, gunplay is satisfying and stealth is nervewracking, but very easy and is almost always an option. Infected enemies have multiple variations which require their own approach to dealing with them. Sections with them often have a horror feel, especially when it comes to a reworked "stalker" infected type. Human enemies use different weapons, can have dogs that sniff you out and can throw molotovs. The AI is pretty smart, they can flank you, cover each other, heal themselves and generally be a nuisance(The game was played on Hard difficulty). The game also has a bunch of unique encounters, which need to be experienced. Outside combat you can solve simple puzzles while exploring the world, find collectibles and resources and discover optional world-building materials and scenes. 10/10

Sound: The game sounds incredible. Be it the crunching of the snow under your feet, the sound of the rain above your head, gunshots, cries of pain and roars of the infected. Gustavo Santaolalla's soundtrack is beautiful, somber and haunting and definitely deserves mentioning. 10/10

Graphics: The Last Of Us 2 is one of the most beautiful PS4 titles. It's phenomenal from technical and design standpoint. The animations, the little details, the quality of textures. Everything is just so pleasing to the eye. It's not something I can describe with my words because I'm not good with technical terms, but you have to experience it. 10/10

I've only encountered a couple of very small bugs with textures or animations, that were really rare for 30 hours it took me to finish the game. In the end, I loved the game and would recommend everyone to play it. Unfortunately, I can't in all honesty give it the maximum rating because of couple moments. But the story is engaging and great, the gameplay is one of the best you can experience and the game just looks, sounds, feels and plays fantastic. A definite buy.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us is a 2013 action-adventure game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. Players control Joel, a smuggler tasked with escorting a teenage girl, Ellie, across a post-apocalyptic United States. The Last of Us is played from a third-person perspective. Players use firearms and improvised weapons, and can use stealth to defend against hostile humans and cannibalistic creatures infected by a mutated strain of the Cordyceps fungus. In the online multiplayer mode, up to eight players engage in cooperative and competitive gameplay.

    The Last of Us
Artwork of a teenage girl, with brown hair. She has a backpack, with a sniper rifle strapped to her side, and is standing behind a man in his 40's, who has brown hair and beard, and a revolver in his left hand. They are standing in a flooded grassy environment, turning to face the camera. The text "THE LAST OF US" is positioned to the left.

The graphics and gameplay are amazing don’t get me wrong but no one bought this game for that reason. On top of this the one of the beloved main characters is killed off within 2 hours of gameplay just to rush and push the story along. Secondly the order and directing is so off you play multiple flash backs in the game I feel that it could of been a tolerable game if you started off with these and play through to the ending. In no regard is the game trash, but compared to TLOU it’s a **** show and was a huge middle finger to fans of the first Expand

Ok let's start with the good things:
-very good gameplay much improved mechanics , shooting combat exploration , movement over the predecesor
    - very good atmosphere, scary and desolant places, unexpected enemies locations
    - very good sounds and music
The bad thing over which i can't go past is: How can you Naugthy Dog put me to play as Abby the main villan of the game after investing so much in Ellie and Joel and building their story, attachment and journey ?? You just give me a cutscene and think that i will love Abby????
I passed over the Joel death , over the bad choices but you could at least make a chapter in which to justify the Abby revenge and make and interesting plot and let me continue to play as Ellie
The Story is Sooooo Bad .... what where they thinking ??
I absolutley loved the first 12h even with the ups and downs ....but now i don't want to touch the controller anymore .....such a frustration and dissapointment ..

It pushes buttons certainly, but that's the point. It delivers a thrilling story that builds on the original and makes us view character motivations in ways I've never seen before in a game. The last of us II is a masterpiece in character development and ironically, the very blind emotional rage that has been present is a parallel for the whole story. I actually hope that in retrospect, that irony is not lost on people who actually play and finish the game. It's not about seeing what you wanted to see, it's about seeing beyond your blinkered perspective and predjudice. A truly amazing game, a very worthy sequel and I hope in time the bile is fittingly seen for what it is...
Maybe some people should actually drop their linear mindedness and finish the game first to understand that this closed minded hate crusade is the very driving force of the game itself

The graphics are improved, but some textures and scenes are just downright ugly. Some characters don't move when approached and dogs "rotate" instead of turning their bodies naturally when you go to pet them, destroying the immersion even more. Crafting is also improved but extremely overrated (all this hype about JuMpInG being added to the game for example is a complete let down) like most elements in this game. Speaking of elements that are disappointing, this also applies to the story.

Joel and Ellie are killed by the "main antagonist", but the dumbest thing of all is that Joel isn't even "in" this game. You only "interact" with him in flashbacks which are incredibly stupid. Characters are more diverse, but are all unlikeable and at times insufferable - including Ellie. It doesn't feel like a real horror, the Last of Us 2 experience. It feels like what would happen if the franchise was taken over by SJWs led by Anita Sarkeesian to prove some "#woke" political point no one cares about, and not even doing it well (for example, Abby, seen as the main antagonist, is transgender, which is portrayed as a villain but also deserves pity cuz Joel bad! Or the constant hilarious and stupid decisions Ellie makes that you have no control over.) The pacing is also terrible. The game feels way too long for what it is and just seems to fester as you play it with mundane tasks, as if the devs were forced to add filler to meet a quota. The sex scene with Abby for example, while extremely cringey, lingers on way too long afterwards at a black screen for no reason other than to fill time and make you question life itself.

TL;DR Overall its an average horror game with slightly better graphics and a terrible story, but as a LAST OF US game, comes off s an overrated, boring, and quite frankly extremely disappointing experience, that was a product of poor decision making, abuse of employee labor and having to PAY "journalists" for reviews and 10/10. If something is too good to be true usually it is. This game is an abomination of a forced sequel for easy sales, that nobody asked for. Don't believe the paid reviews, or hell even me, go and see for yourself how much of a trainmen this franchise has become - unless you're an SJW, pass. This game single-handeldly ruined the franchise. Play the first TLOU instead.

I would like to separately highlight the courage of Neil Druckmann for the fact that he was not afraid to make the story of the game as controversial from an emotional point of view as possible. Perhaps this is not a masterpiece in terms of building a story, but not a single game has yet caused such a storm of emotions and empathy in my head.

Gameplay has become even better since the time of the fantastic first part. It’s really interesting, sometimes funny and exciting to play.

The only right option in the case of The Last Of Us Part II is to buy this game and comprehend it on your own, without the help of anyone else from the side, because it will arouse completely different emotions in every person's mind.

Objectively evaluating the product, I would put 9/10. For someone it might be 8/10, and someone will refuse to accept this story because of their own views and put the game 0/10, but my emotions and impressions do not allow me to put this game score below 10/10.

Undoubtedly one of the main game of this generation, along with Red Dead Redemption 2 and God of War.

Thank you Naughty Dog. That was breathtaking.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’m honestly at a loss on how this game could stray so far away from its roots. Personally I’m tired of beautiful games that are just shallow in lore, stories, and interesting characters. While ND has continued to show their ability for map design and lighting, the gameplay seems to be almost untouched on improvements since 2013. Gunplay seems clunky and AI running straight at you with zero evasive ability while you clearly have a gun drawn on them feels brain dead. Not to mention the amount of bugs I experienced was something I expect from EA. THE STORY.... where to even start? The disrespect for Joel, the unloveable Abby, countless NPCs I’m supposed to care about but don’t... half the game spent trying to manipulate my first impression. Going on a murderous rampage for revenge, only for absolutely no pay off. I felt like the one being spit on.

It felt like there could had been a completely different arrangement of events to kill Joel off (If you absolutely felt the need too) and introduce Abby. A better back story and flash backs of the fireflies vs the Gov, memorable events from the last game sprinkled in as the trickling effects of Abby story is shaped by Joel. It all felt hollow and rushed like the narrative was so forced, the writers couldn’t even stomach enough to put typical ND effort in. I’ve already sold my copy to someone else as there’s zero Replay-ability due to the lack of MP and the fact I wish I could just get my time back from this game. I really tried to give it the game a chance even though I deleted/redownloaded twice out of pure distaste. I’ve played a lot of bad games over the years, most of which were bad due to being unfinished or due to indie Devs, but this, this was the opposite of everything I wanted to happen EVERY SINGLE TIME.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have spent 5 days trying to post my review but metacritic has been blocking it.

I hate giving this game a bad review I hate it so much cause the first game is one of my favorite if not my most favorite game of all time.

The game looks wonderful, the gameplay isnt much different other than a few small things added like a new jumping mechanic and some stuff you can do with a rope, the voice acting is still astounding as is any cinematic game put out by Naughty Dog. There are some new enemy types and instead of fireflies and cannibals you have WLF (wolves) and cultist. So the the only real thing that has been improved on is the graphics.

Now the story and the characters...that's a complete other matter, and I will say first of Joel dies am I happy about it, no. Did I expect it, yes. The main issue I have with is the way the story is presented to you makes absolutely no sense, and characters that are one note and easily forgettable. The daughter, Abby, of the doctor in the first game goes after joel which waaaaay across the country so it like looking for a very specific needle in a Grand Canyon full of needles, but she finds him actually he falls into her lap saving her life. Then after that Joel and Tommy throw complete caution to the wind and tell them their names and where they are staying, which is completely out of character for both of them to just trust people that they have met. If you are going to kill off Joel at least have it make sense. After a short romp with Ellie as she goes throw the list of people that were there taking them out, you switch over to Abby, and play with her and what she was doing during this time that Ellie was killing her friends. The thing is though at this point in the game you have so much hate for Abby that this pointless bit trying to get you to sympathize with her just doesnt work. By the point I literally dont care and only want her dead. I dont care about her, her friends or the dogs at all. But they make you play as her, beat the hell out of Ellie, bite her fingers off and damn near kill Ellie's girlfriend. They try even more to get you to sympathize with her by making her take on kind of a "Joel" role when she is taking care of this kid turning against her own people doing so, but I just couldnt care less about her or her struggles. And by the end she and the kid are left for dead hanging from poles, but Ellie finds them, cuts them down and proceeds to have one last fight with Abby in which she wins but right before she is about to deal the killing blow she stops........becaaaaause reasons? So the cycle will stop? Whatever. I wanted this game solely for the story, not the graphics not the gameplay, the voice acting helps but wasnt the most important. The story! And when you deliver one that is completely nonsensical as this, someone dropped the ball somewhere Dr. Uckmann. I just cant recommend this game to anyone who fell in love with story and the characters of the original.

So I'm giving it a 2 for the graphics and voice acting.

As for the plot - the story is not badly written, not by a long shot. Honestly, the way in which this story was crafted is nothing short of genius. Ellie and Abby mirror each other. While they view one another to be the villain, they're really one and the same, which calls into question the topic of right, wrong, and morally gray, all while serving as a powerful caveat for those who may be seeking revenge.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story starts off decently, then makes what can only be summed up as a terrible decision an hour in. Moving past this they did well with what they scraped together and I'd say it plays as at least 8/10.

Then come even more terrible development decisions focing you to play as the worst protagonist a game has had for the last decade, not just in terms of character development but in how the character is shoehorned in. I pushed past this thinking that it would all lead to a satisfying conclusion, I was wrong.

The ending has characters making ridiculous decisions that don't stay true to who they are and it leaves you unsatisfied and in limbo, wondering where the value comes in, you'll never want to play through this again.

The game ultimately tries to play off of 'shock and awe' moments instead of trying to build a decent story. If you want to kill or save certain characters that's fine, just do it in a way that respects those characters and understand that this isn't the final season of game of thrones.

I can only imagine the critic reviews were bought either directly or through the tactic of pressuring for high scores under penalty of cutting a publication off from future events and early review copies, a commonly used tactic. Failing that I can't imagine any of these reviewers actually played more than 10 hours and should be ashamed of dishing out perfect scores to something that has disgraced it's predecessor.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I will review the 3 main aspects of the game:
    - Graphics
    - Gameplay
    - Story

    1.- Graphics:
Astonishing, beautiful and out of this world graphics. The character's expressions were so realistic. Forests, landscapes, skyscrappers, all of it, it is perfect. The physics of the game were incredible too, as a programmer, I can´t imagine how much time, frustration and coffee cups did it take for the developers to achieve only the rope's physics. Such level of detail gives this game a huge added value.

    2.- Gameplay:
Gameplay is pretty good too. The game is significantly easier than the first one, but still challenging, the game had me restarting some encounters over and over because of me failing to achieve the encounter in full stealth. Even though I didn't use the difficulty customization, kudos to the developers for thinking about that too, and giving players options for lowering the difficulty if necessary.

However, there were some parts that were quite boring because the game has you walking for quite some time without actually encountering enemies of any kind. This gets slightly compensated with the visuals you get to see during these long walking sequences.

    3.- Story
This is probably the most controversial and prone to debate aspect of the game. In order to understand the writer's narrative choices, people have to understand the aim of Naughty Dog for this game.

Clearly this is not a Joel & Ellie game as it was with the first release. In this game, our protagonists face the consequences of the decisions taken in the first game, and THEY LOSE. it is now their time to suffer those consequences. Joel dying within the 1st hour of the game is probably the most realistic outcome the story could possibly have. Players of course are not happy with these choices, but me personally, it didn't really affect me, I appreciated the story. However, there are some things I did not like, which I list below.

    - Abby's gameplay:
It is not Abby with whom I have a problem with, but with the fact that the game makes you play with her for the last 6-8 hours. Abby is a character recently introduced, I'm not supposed to care if she's got an affair with Owen or that kind of personal things. Abby became highly relevant after you discover her relation with Joel's actions in the first game, but that aside, there's not much story to tell about her, I think that her appereance on the game could've been reduced a lot.

    - Tommy's sudden change of mind:
At the beginning of the game he shows himself reluctant to go after Abby, and right before Abby shows at the theater, Tommy suggests to go back to Jackson, since these people've already gotten what they deserved, but then at Dina & Ellie's house, you see this arrogant and rude Tommy that out of nowhere is convinced to kill Abby and Lev. Maybe because of Jesse's death, I don't know, but it didn't feel natural for Tommy, specially because throughout both games, Tommy has clearly shown a kind personality.

    I give this game a solid 9.

Joel flashbacks and Ellie and Dina relationship is the only good thing about this game. It has a bad ending wit a poor message and boring characters, it tries too hard to extract some empathy from the player, and in my case it fails miserably.

The environments, world-building and set pieces are stunning, and the attention to detail outshines many other AAA games available today. The graphics are excellent, in particular the lighting and effect detail, and character animations are very well done, though can become repetitive after some time. The story is a bittersweet description of consequences and perspective in the context of revenge. Through it, we discover what compels people to seek vengeance through anger and their idea of justice, while simultaneously from another perspective, were shown that revenge doesn’t make you whole in the end, and doesn’t solve anything. It’s a haunting, gritty, and oftentimes brutal story that draws on the characters, organisations, and relationships from the first game, and develops them in a world that still hasn’t recovered from the apocalypse. In saying that, the pacing of the game at times feels slow, and some sections of the game feel out of order. Certain characters don’t get as much time as they need to become fleshed out, and ultimately feel a bit flat. In addition to this, many elements of the games story are nuanced and alluded to in such a way that the underlying meaning is obscured to many people playing (or reading) the game. Overall, this game is phenomenal, and thought provoking, and anyone going into this blind will enjoy the game it presents, and think a lot about the story it tells. Expand

It constantly feels like this game is trying to make me feel the hate and anger that Ellie feels, but it just falls flat because it doesn't allow the player to make significant decisions or choices and the choices that the character makes go against the common sense of any rational human being. It wants to be an RPG but it is too linear, it wants to be open world but, again, it's linear. The gameplay is pretty much the same as the first for better or worse, but the graphics and even sound are remarkably improved and makes it fun to play if you can get past the occasional poor writing and constant glaring plot holes. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Oh man, where to begin on this.

Background, I am an avid lover of the first last of us, the story was amazing.

However, there are a ton of significant issues related to this game

Graphics: Graphically speaking this game is amazing it is one of the best produced games for the PS4 that I have ever seen. Grass flows realistically, areas look spacious, etc

Sound Design: Again, no issue here, same as the first last of us, detailed and perfect. Sounds are realistic, everything from reactions from personnel and bullets wizzing overhead, death sounds, All incredibly detailed and realistic.

Gameplay: The same as the last of us 1, only with the added prone position. Combat is improved, but nothing remarkable. Easily considered mediocre of all the things you can note.

Story: The story is disjointed and hot garbage. At the midpoint in the story you have Ellie kill a pregnant woman which evidently affects her negatively despite killing hundreds of people before getting to that scene in graphic ways and using expletives. The game drags on, instead of ending at 15 ish hours or so. This could've been effectively two different games and the motivations dont seem convincing at all. You jump between flashbacks, and different characters

Overall: People play the last of us for the story, everything else in the game (gameplay, sound design, and graphics) are intended to complement the story to make it more realistic. The story is an unconvincing, disjointed mess and is a poor representation of what the series could be. Skip it and buy something that remains true to characters and doesnt just write "surprises" into the game to generate views.

I love apocalyptic and survival games. TLOU one of my favorites of all time.
TLOU2 is not a sequel. It's the ruins of a bright memory of beloved personages. Absolutely destructive and negative experience. Pathetic mockery on gamers. A pitiful, shameful attempt of emotional abuse from devs. I realize something funny: Druckmann and Gross can't in a relationship! They as directors can't create meaningful bonds and believable characters. Neil is a bad leader and has to be demoted or fired.
But let's start with the best. It's the most beautiful PS4 game I've seen. The world looks brilliant. Level designers, sound engineers, artists who build all environments are geniuses! The human-made surrounding world is absolutely stunning and gorgeous. But Neil ruined all their hard work with his damn infantile story.
Joel's death is the dumbest thing they came up with. It shows us how low and stupid this story will be. Joel and Tommy have 25+ years of survival experience in that damn world! They are too cautious and won't enter a building full of unfamiliar people(after horde destroyed). Joel won't stand in the middle of the room and declare his real name while being surrounded by suspicious armed people!
Abby's folks stay in a house with no protection! And they didn't kill Tommy(knew they are brothers)and Ellie(promised to kill them)! Are they really soldiers who kill Scars every day? The dumbest plot move I've seen in years. It was made only to shock, cause anger, create a revenge coolstory.
This plot is trash. It's a bad written 14yo boy's TLOU fanfic with no sense.
If you want to, do it properly -> Joel&Tommy saves Abby, they ran. Ellie seeks them. While brothers trying to escape infected and fight them, Abby hears their names. Owen hears shooting, came to help her. Ellie finds them, witness tragedy from afar. Abby finds a moment, knocks out Tommy, shoots Joel, beats him hard. Infected horde is coming. Abby's friends save her, drag her on a high point, they watch mortally wounded Joel with bare hands trying to save Tommy. Ellie chooses not to chase killers but to save Joel&Tommy, she kills infected. Tommy unconscious, Joel is bitten, Ellie has to kill Joel. She's furious, seeks revenge, wants to kill Abby. She's angry at Joel and blames herself(vaccine story). IMHO it's a much better way with layers of drama and I didn't even need 7 years to come up with this plot!
Since that it was unpleasant to play this game at all. Only one good arc The Birthday Gift. They could release it as a standalone DLC.
After that, we are going to play Ellie with Dina on her side. This is a second great fail we were participating in. Every single companion/minor-char is weak, half-baked, flat. I assume Neil (with Sarkeesian) was so hard trying to fill up his game with sexual minority personages and make them appealing but completely forgot to develop any of them. To my surprise, I'm disappointed with the extremely weak LGBT love plot! I wish to see their love! But devs just throw at us some facts about Dina's life and few scenes of their hangouts. End. Dina appears and disappears almost momentarily, her person isn't developed to reach the goal of sympathy. This is don't feels like a real attachment at all!
In this game, Ellie acts strange, she doesn't look like herself. She should have grown since the first game. In that world, she must do it really fast and become tougher. But we see 15yo girl with youthful maximalism and serious traumatic brain injury, that forces her to become goofy(sorry I'm exaggerating). I assume Gross was who changed her nature. Again, it looks like 14yo boy's fanfic. Pity.
Then we go back in time again and forced to play Abby, Joel's killer, the second half of the game. Have you lost your mind? Want to make us feel sorry for her? You fail! And we have more flashbacks in flashbacks. Abby's gameplay is almost the same. After 3 hours I feel like devs took Joel's gameplay, reskin it with she-Hulk, update it to a new mechanics. And devs force us to fight Ellie! I endure all this s**t only because of really cool ambiance. I even don't wanna talk about the needless sex scene.
Think about it! In the end, Abby becomes... Joel! Disaster!
I'll speed up. Mel (pregnant surgeon) going to patrol is idiotic! Neil never saw a pregnant woman before? Mel is running and jumping but Dina can't move her fingers. Ruined!
Environmental storytelling is gone. Every person in this game has to have a piece of paper, a pan and has to write a letter before death.
A bulletproof vest is only for corpses because Ellie can punch it through with an infinite knife.
I can carry on&on but there is a limit.
The worst imaginable ending. Every person from that room was brutally murdered but Ellie saves and lets the murderer go.
I cried in the end because this game so damn sucks! Devs ruin every character and made them make the wrong decision every time they can and force gamers to regret it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Here's a much needed support/rant review/comment.
Support for Naughty Dog, LLC and rant for the so called fans who are whining about this AMAZING PIECE OF ART.

I'll start by reminding everyone the old proverb that goes "Live by the sword, die by the sword". I really hope that most of the whiners have heard that proverb before, and if they haven't then that would explain the apalling lack of much needed reality checks.

The reaction this game is causing in our society is a clear indicator of the sad existence of "eggshell skull heads" who wrongly believe that just because their psyches are weaker than most; then the entire world around them must adapt to their fragile needs and wants.

A plain and simple "WTF?" Is what better describes bad reviews based on wanting to keep X character alive, or the fact that you have to kill "poor defenseless puppies" (yes that was sarcasm, that's a thing you know?) while the whole narrative of the game takes place in a post apocalyptic SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST type of crazy world, the type we all instinctively know would be super scary to live in because of those and many other uglier posibilities.

Coming back to the proverb I mentioned: What else do you expect to have happened to Joel? The dude though a hardcore badass we could only aspire to be... had it coming for years now. Remember how he took any posibility for a cure away from humanity's grasp? I didn't hear anyone complaning then about how unjust, not caring about fellow humans and totally selfish move that was...

Why did no one complaint then? Two things:

1- Paraphrasing the philosophy behind Freud's "id" – We cannot 100% guarantee that we would have done any better in his shoes
(even Tommy admitted to that) since we don't really know what would it take to turn us into a savage killer blinded by . Which is exactly what happened to Abby too.

2- Back then we were not being bombarded with social justice crap that even thou nice on the surface, they wouldn't mean $h1+ and I yes I meant to say poop, in the world of #TheLastOfUs.
Just think about it, no global warming would be taking place, no animal abuse for sure (plenty of flesh eating puppies runing loose), clearly most people accept LGBTQ communities in this world.
Ain't that enough for yall snowflakes out there?

Naughty Dog, LLC made an incredible BOLD and BRAVE move with this story. Something only people who trully know how the real world behaves would do. And to me and some great critics I've seen, such choices have made this game a #masterpiece yet again. Only constructive feedback I would give them is: next time do a better job with bugs that's it.

PS: If you felt offended by anything I just said then I leave you one last "proverb":
    – "You better check yourself before you wreck yourself..." "... cause the world ain't all sunshine and rainbows"

It's that through it's the games 25+ hour of gameplay, it fails to come to a satisfying conclusion.
