    Mediocre just like the first one. No significant improvements in gameplay. Let's wait see if part 3 will improve anything, otherwise it's going to be a 3rd mod of uncharted.

I don't Mind Joel dying but do it in a smartly written way that respects the character and fans which Neil **** did not do and then afterwards I've got to play as Abby yep that was a wrap for me, also when Ellie confronts Abby she kills all her group then spares her in the last minute.     Everything in the game is perfect. The combat, physics, graphics, were perfect. The scenarios were almost perfect.

    If you are like me, you played The Last of Us Part 1 way back during it's release on the PS3. The game had stunning graphics, great sound, good gameplay, but the things that made it one of the best games on the platform was the beauty of the level designs and above that the magnificent storyline involving two of main characters with their struggle to survive and make sense of the world.If you are like me, you played The Last of Us Part 1 way back during it's release on the PS3.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is the next step for the medium. It’s storytelling surpassed most books and movies these days - you care about the characters, you understand what they are doing. You feel the pain. It’s beyond anything a videogame ever did!

    ND did almost the same with Uncharted - I remember how I feared for Nate during the last couple hours of U4. But TLOU - as a series, it’s the most adult storytelling you‘ll find in a game to date. This shows, what the medium is capable of.

    The ending left me in tears.

    Not to mention the technological excellent the game is made of. It looks so incredibly good...you have to see and hear it.

    I promise you, it’s not the overhyped game, a lot of people think it is. It’s a real masterpiece.
    Take the ride, you won’t regret it. Even if it’s hard to swallow all the violence especially towards the end. It’s worth to get through it.

    I am so happy, a studio like ND exists. So curious to see, what they’re gonna do on PS5.

    BTW...@metacritic: please get rid of the fake reviews. Most of them look like bots. Nobody was able to finish the game on the same day of its release.    … Expand

    That rat king was awesome, the new type of styles and fight strategies, the hole story and the final fight that left me with my jaw on the floor. Sometimes it gets so emotional. Great job.    … Expand

I felt the peace of Jackson at the beginning. I felt Ellie's pain and subsequent rage when her father figure was killed. Surprisingly, I felt Abby's heartbreak when she saw her father dead on the hospital floor, knowing that 7 years ago, I, as a player, am responsible for it. Most of the characters are fantastic. I grew to empathize with some that I hated, and disliked some of the characters that I loved. All through Naughty Dog's masterful storytelling. From a technical standpoint, I don't think we'll see something on this level until a sequel to God of War (2018) or GTA 6 should that ever created. The environments, animations, A.I., everything about the gameplay is fantastic. The large open areas down to the darkest rooms all have such great attention to detail that aids in fully immersing you into the world. The fact that playing as 2 different characters felt so different was amazing. Ellie feels agile, swift in her movements and kills. Abby on the other hand feels like a wrecking ball, capable of barreling through an enemy that's in her way. All of the weapons have a distinct feel, especially the melee weapons, which make you feel every swing you make. This game was everything I wanted it to be, even though it was nothing like what I expected. I understand why others are disappointed, but you have to go into it with an open mind. If you do, the experience will be something you never forget and it won't be matched in a very, very long time.… Expand

If you ever wanted a coin/card collecting simulator, this game is for you! 6/10

    Story: hate it. A simple revenge story that could have been entertaining, if the story didn't keep bashing you on the head very well known concepts. Yes, revenge comes at great personal cost... Yes, death and loss is traumatic... Yes, revenge starts a cycle of retaliation... it's almost condescending in it's constant harping on the theme. Almost as if the writers thought they had stumbled onto something new and profound. it falls apart in a final act that feels like all characters just completely lose all pre-conceived concepts and even common sense... and in the final scene it goes from harping on a simple theme, to trying to interject some new motivation that actually needs explaining, but does not. 3/10

I played TLOU 1 for the first time in 2014 (the remastered edition) and I loved it, so I was very hyped when the sequel was announced. The thing is this game is just awful. I was able to avoid all mayor spoilers but if I knew this was going to be this bad, I wouldn't have spent 70 dollars in this crap.
    SPOILERS BELOW

    Now, to start, the graphics are great but the gameplay is pretty much like in TLOU1 with some new additional mechanics. They could've changed the general gameplay in those 7 years between 1 and 2, but after all, it works. Those are the only things "good" things I can say about this game.

    Now, why the game sucks.
    Just within the first 2/3 hours not only does the game has major plot holes, but it kills Joel. Literally, it just kills him in the worst way possible. The problem with this is that Joel is the best character of the first game, and to have him killed of like that just sucks. Joel's death is the reason why Ellie sets out on a revenge quest... which hardly feels as one. Not a single moment makes you feel like you are avenging Joel, it just feels like Ellie going in a killing rampage just because of the sake of it.

    Then there is the problem with Ellie. My issue isn't with her being a lesbian. No, the problem is that she is not the likable and compelling character that she was in the first game, her personality is weak and she's just a plain, unlikable teenager that kills people. She is no longer that great character that transformed Joel in the first game. Apart from that, the game sets her in a revenge quest, in which she kills lots of people in order to reach and kill Abby(Joel's killer) only to let her go because, apparently, violence is bad (even tho you've just killed hundreds of people in the last 24 hours). It makes the game pointless and it sucks, because the ONLY person you really wanted to kill is the only one that you can't, it's just crap.

    Other issue with this game is the hole Abby thing. The fact that you must use her as a character half of the time sucks. Why would I want to play as Joel's killer? She's a bad character and it's impossible to enjoy playing as her. I bought the game to play with either Joel or Ellie, not this crappy character.

    And finally, in consequence of this, the game ends up being just... violence, which for a 24-hour game ends up being repetitive. The first one was violent, sure, but it also had great storytelling, great characters and character development. This game lacks one of the best things about its predecessor that is the relationship between Joel and Ellie.

    I waited this game for years and for them to make such a terrible one just disappointed me. They introduced a new, awful character who you are forced to play with, destroyed Ellie's character and killed off Joel, their best character, in the worst and stupidest way possible. The story ended up being crap and ruined what could've been one of the best franchises in videogame history. I’m giving this game a 2 instead of a 1 only because of the gameplay and graphics. Do yourself a favour and don't buy it, save that money.    … Expand

    Absolutely adored the game. There were some moments in the second act of the story that dragged for me but ultimately it was fantastic. Gameplay is great, combining elements from the first game with brand new techniques, moves and styles. New styles of infected are terrifying and the different settings have so much to explore in them

    Very poor story, not so good AI, poor characters, ... The game is trash. Good graphics do not make a good game. Naughty Dog managed to destroy something that could be the best toy franchise of all time, pushing the political agenda into the story. DO NOT BUY this game!

    this game has given me so much feelings and emotions that I cant explain. I kinda understand why people are hating on it, but this game for me was absolutely stunning. The story, the animations, the fights, everything. The story just fits together so well after 7 years, its incredible. Remember, this is only my review, everyone has their own, this is mine, please dont hate on me.

It is because she tortures someone to death it doesn’t matter who it is that is never ok. They should have made Joel’s death quick if they wanted us to emphasize more but what Abby did you can’t come back from that it was brutal murder for no objective besides inflicting pain… Expand

Ao conhecermos a perspectiva de Abby, sentimos raiva e nos perguntamos o por que de estarmos sendo forçados a ver o lado da então "vilã" e ao longo da história percebemos que Abby não é vilã, na verdade, ela é muito parecida com Ellie e Joel, para mim, ver a cena em que ela tira a vida de Joel de um ângulo diferente, só me prova que logo após o ato, ela não sente alívio, não sente nada. Ao longo da gameplay ela conhece Lev e Yara e assim como Joel, torna aquilo o motivo dela viver, e numa breve conversa com Lev, demonstra culpa por algo que ela fez, e sim, gosto de acreditar que Abby se arrepende de ter buscado vingança.… Expand

Who the hell thought seriously that it's a good Idea to kill a main character using a complete unlikable brat, nobody knew or wanted in the game? Gameplay-wise TLOU2 doesn't offer much new, but it's good made. I give one point for the great graphic and animations, and one point for the effort with the actors and sound effects.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is the first review that I’m writing for a game and I’m doing it because I just can’t let all the bad comments stand.

    This game was something else for me, I found my heart beating so hard at so many times that I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I cried, I hated Abby but ended up understanding everything, I wanted to push Ellie so hard at the end to make her let everything go after seeing what happened to both of them.
    I get why everyone is so mad at the developers and the writers but this is what had to happen from the beginning, all the death and the hate and the sadness had to come, along with us learning to see both sides as something good.

    One of the best games I’ve ever played so far, I’m glad that everyone put so much effort into it and I’m happy that The Last of Us got such an ending.    … Expand

    I cannot recommend this game for anyone who enjoyed the first one. If you hated the first one, and its entire character cast, then this game is for you. Otherwise I would recommend passing this up. I would never pay for this game personally.    … Expand

    The first game is one of the best games ever made. This game has no reason to exist, hence it is 1/10. I have never felt more betrayed in my life. Characters are treated so poorly, I thought this was star wars the last jedi part 2. Deeply saddened by what became of this series. Alas, this game does no exist to me

    ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY THE WORST THING EVER CREATED. Neil druckman should be fired for this. Joel can’t say I wasn’t expecting his death in part 2 BUT he deserved BETTER. That aside playing through the first part with Ellie was absolutely enjoyable. Then.... they made me play as Abby... I DONT WANT TO DO THAT NOR DID I.
    The game became a chore after that I felt NO desire to play anymore. I shut the game off and deleted it off of my PlayStation. And looked up the ending and other stuff on YouTube.
    I understand they wanted her character to be empathized with but NO. They failed she is a BUFF chick who beat Joel to death with a golf club because Joel stabbed her father in order to save Ellie. AFTER her father wouldn’t listen to Joel’s warning. He didn’t torture him. He stabbed him ONCE.
    I don’t care about her dad or her I wanted her dead and her friends.
    Instead she kills Ellie’s friend and breaks both of Ellie’s arms and STILL gets to live at the end. Why was Abby allowed her revenge but Ellie was not. Why did Ellie have to lose it all? FINGERS INCLUDED.
    I don’t accept TLOU2 as cannon and I can’t be convinced otherwise 0/10.
    I hate Abby and congratulations to Neil druckman and naughty dog for losing the trust of all their fans and supporters. DONT BUY THIS GAME    … Expand

    Loved part 1. Part 2 was so depressing. They did so many things to ruin or kill of the characters I cared for. Too much over the top violence and gore. I wanted to stop playing times but was hoping there would be something redeeming by the end. There never was. I wish I never played this.

    Very impressive game, lovely environments and amazing graphics, animation and voice acting. Crafting and combat was intense and rewarding. Could have been a bit shorter as it started to drag towards the end but I'd rather a game be a bit too long than too short.

Both Elie and Abby are women to fall in love with, I adore the creators for showing Abby's story in such a way that I not only forgave her but also began to wish her well, that's why the end of the game was the hardest experience in my life (when it comes to games) .     Positives:
    -Graphics: Graphics are a high level and the detail and passion that went into the product is visible.

    -Animation: Excelent animations

    Negatives:
    -Gameplay: this is more a personal problem as I had this with the first one too. Though I had hoped they would have changed / improved more in 7 years.

    -Characters: This is where a major problem lies. Established characters act out of character and there is no development. A certain character who I will not name ends up being someone you play as and at the time you get there you feel nothing for that character or the ones around them. Also it is fine that they want to show you a revenge plot but they figuratively and literally spit on older characters.

    -Plot: I have seen a revenge plot a hundred times and I also seen it a hundred times better. You miss a connection when you just killed hundreds and now should feel bad about a single one.

    -The ending: I don't wanna spoil the ending, but let's just say the end feels empty like ash in your mouth as the whole goal of the game is not reached at the end.

    I personally love the last of us 1. But 2 misses the point of the first game completely and ruins characters. For me who finds story in games important this isn't a game for me. I would. I would, however say that if you're a person who liked the last of us 1 gameplay and visuals that you might like this too. I personally had hoped this game would reach new heights, but sadly instead of new heights it has reached a deep low point for me.

    My review will mainly talk about the story and my experience.

    I loved the first game and honestly thought they weren't going to do a sequel. Finding out that a sequel was being made, I was really looking forward to the release and was hoping for a game as moving as the first. As the release date got closer, I did hear about the game receiving negative reviews from people, but I wanted to play the game myself, because I loved the first and wanted to see how they continued Joel and Ellie's story.

    I played the game without watching any trailers except a small section of the dance scene. After finishing the game, I saw the trailers and read reviews both positive and negative. I honestly believe that it was wrong for Naughty Dog to edit a scene in the trailer to make players believe Joel would be by your side throughout the game.

    From reading and watching other reviews, I understand why players decided to quit the game after Joel's death. I do think it was out of character for Joel to not be able to see that it was an ambush especially since it was the driving point of the entire game. I understand why players quit when they had to play Joel's killer, Abby.

    I felt uncomfortable playing Abby because I had an immediate bias towards Joel and Ellie. As a player, I'm shown that I eventually will come back to Ellie at the theater. At this point, I felt annoyed and angry to have to play Joel's killer, but seeing Abby's back story, she had a reason to kill Joel regardless if the player agrees or not. At the point of arriving outside the theater, I was still on Ellie's side. I wanted to delay the inevitable as much as possible. Once the chase sequence started, I felt so uncomfortable running after Ellie. I immediately wasted Abby's bullets not wanting to shoot Ellie. Then I had to fight Ellie and in this moment, I was reminded of the scene in the first game in which Ellie had to sneak around to attack David. I kept hesitating and stopping to let Ellie win, but eventually I continued the game.

    Seeing Ellie have a family and home, I really thought this would be the end. Then Ellie decided she had to finish the job.

    I was ready to kill Abby for Joel, but finding Abby in a weak state it didn't feel right for me to fight her at that moment.

    The ending was moving for me. It wasn't a happy ending, but it made me question so much about the choices made to get to this point even though I had no control over the character's decisions.

    I enjoyed the game for the fact that it gave me an experience I never had before.

    I find it fascinating to see the conflicting views between players, because the story itself became so much more than a hero defeating the villain which was what I was expecting after Joel's death. It gives the player the chance to reflect on the actions they made as Joel in the end of the first game. The player can decide to change how they feel about certain characters or not. The player can expect a certain ending, but the game makes the choices and the player can only decide how to feel about it. Whether you liked the game or not, it's ultimately your choice as the player to decide how you feel about the game.    … Expand

Out of the 80,000 some reviews, I guarantee over half of them didnt even get the game. They judged it on the leaks and didnt give it another chance. I hear a lot of people say that it made the first game pointless. Though, the first game made itself pointless. They finally got to the place where they could make the cure, but Joel didnt want to lose Ellie so he killed the fireflies, making the journey "pointless". I understand the outrage over them killing off joel so soon and pathetically, however he had to die. He couldnt get away with killing all of those people, it was gonna happen at some point, so why not use it to spark a revenge story. The only thing I see wrong with this game is the fight against Ellie, I understand what they were trying, but it didnt work at all. Aside from that, I dont see what's so wrong with this game. Obviously it cant be as amazing as the first game, they weren't trying to do that. At the end of the day, a lot of people spent a lot of time on it. First they kill off Joel, then push the character who killed him (Abby) and make her into a character in which you are forced to play as. They also make the protagonist (Ellie) go on a revenge quest only at the end to spare Abby. Then seemingly leaving Ellie to return to nothing, making this whole story pointless. If they had a little bit of sense they would have given us at least some choices throughout the game. It has been 7 years, with that amount of time you could have made alternate endings.… Expand

Very poor gameplay with lots of buggy movements. Long and tedious repetitive gameplay. Story wise is a very big letdown compared to the first game. The Characters are no nowhere like the first game. Joel and Tommy are so dumb in this game and so are most of the characters including those by Abby, They should've killed us off if they knew we were going to come after them. Ellie isn't like she was in the first game. i really wish this game was never released as it ruined the reputation of ND in me. I am just going to stick with the first game.

    Before posting this I want to preface that I have a been a fan of the series since I purchased a PlayStation in 2015. This game blew me away, not as much for just the gameplay, but more the realism and compelling stories that I feel are both lacking from video games in this era. I find that this is the best place to share not just my thoughts, but the philosophy and themes that carried the game’s message (in my opinion):
    1: The Cycle of Violence This one is fairly self-explanatory, but Ellie’s final decision to spare Abby (and Lev) ends a generational cycle of killing and pain, dating back to the “parents” of both the game’s protagonists (Joel/Dr. Anderson). This opportunity for growth was hinted at and ultimately failed in TLOU, but serve the driving plot point of TLOU2.
    2: Parenthood I personally did not pick up on this theme until the epilogue, despite it being right underneath my nose for a solid 1/2 of the story. Take a second to think about the dichotomy between Ellie-Joel and Abby-Lev in. What did our “parent figure” do differently? The same? Much like Joel, Abby ends the lives of MANY to save the one life of Lev. How does this make her any better than Joel doing the same for Ellie? Was this decision even redeemable by either of them in the first place? The game’s final cliffhanger provides you, the player, the ability to envision how Abby and Lev’s relationship will progress, or be damaged, as they move into the “Jackson” phase which put a rift between Ellie and Joel. Additionally, Ellie rejected the opportunity to be a proper parent to Jesse Jr. Was this because of her PTSD from Seattle, or her fear that she would ultimately make the same mistakes as Joel?
    3: The Animalistic Decay of Humanity Less apparent than #1 here, but the comparison of the game’s protagonists to animals evokes the decaying state of society, and thereby, human nature: Joel: The Owl Throughout the game, Joel is referenced (most often by Jesse and Tommy) as an “old bird”. The imagery of the owl on Joel’s coffee cup and in Ellie’s journal drawings also cement this point. Joel is wise, slow, and strikes viciously, prone to fits of anger (Ellie’s rescue). Ellie: the Wolf Specifically in TLOU, many NPC’s refer to Ellie as “the wolf girl”. This is brought full circle in TLOU2, where Ellie meets her literal match in the WLF’s. Ellie is controlled by her negative emotion, and it enables her to commit terrible (often unnecessary) acts of violence. It is also noteworthy when Abby/Lev approach the hospital to retrieve materials for Yara’s surgery, Lev remarks “Wolves never look up, only forward.” Was this meant only about the WLF? Abby: The Oxen Abby’s direct and unforgiving personality are put in direct contrast to her muscular body when referred to as “the lady built like an ox” by the trader who provides intel to Tommy in the period after Seattle. This comparison does not carry as much weight as the others, but cements the point that these animal-based comparisons show the decaying humanity of the game’s core cast.
    Finally, while it is less of a philosophical theme and more of a fact, I think it is important to mention that while the TLOU series are technically “zombie” games, the real enemy is rarely ever the actual infected, instead more often human nature of the dangers of the self.    … Expand

We were promised a game just like the first game by the marketing and the fact that it is a sequel, but yet we got something miserable if you like the first game. As a standalone game it's also awful as the set piece is all wrong and the game is just too long. Wasted $60 I and many others will need a refund.

    The last of us part 2 is truly amazing ! Naughty dog is the best in storytelling by far. The game takes big risk but if you wanted to feel the emotion of the first one, they couldn't have done it otherwise. It totally worked for me and it's logical. It's more complex and deeper.     Graphics are simply great. Nothing more to say to it. The gameplay is amazing. There was no getting used to playing the game. It felt like picking up where I left off. In fact, it is even improved a bit.

    Reviewing the story will require giving some spoilers but before that, if you want to play this game just play it. Don’t fall into somebody else’s idea who thinks negative attitude and comments would make them popular. Now I am quite sure most people who gave 0 to this game never played the game or does not actually have any opinion of their own and copied and pasted somebody else’s idea. (Most. Some may have really hated. Can't argue that.) Rating something 0 just reflects hatred rather than a review anyway. Just because you don’t like something doesn’t necessarily make it bad. People worked hard for this. You may very well dislike it, just have some respect and write what you disliked about it. Rating 0 and commenting “OMG SO BAD” is not a review really.

    Some claimed the story was bad and I can respect that. The storytelling is unorthodox to say the least. You can’t expect everyone to like that. But I don’t think it’s fair to compare it with the first game. This is a new game, not a DLC. Personally, I liked it and below is my opinion about it.

    SPOILERS AHEAD!

    Yes, at first, I disliked playing as Abby, but in the end, I liked that I disliked it. Keep in mind that the story is supposed to be unpleasant and you are meant to dislike some characters. (Including the ones you knew from the first game) It felt like that was the point. What violence, vengeance, and hatred cost a person and how would they leave an effect. You would not really like a person who is consumed by vengeance and hatred. In movies or games, you may find them impressive or cool in a way, but you would not like them. At least I wouldn’t. I mean yeah Darth Vader is amazing, but who would like him in person? (I meant Vader, not Anakin. Please don’t get into that.) “You may dispense with the pleasantries!” Oh come on!

    The only downfall was Joel. Kill him the way he dies, at that time, at that place and exactly like that, but please don’t get him going in there voluntarily. I mean this guy was supposed to even mistrust his shadow let alone go into a lodge full of strangers. Especially after what he did. He is smarter than that. The Joel we knew from the first game would leave a stranger (in this case Abby) to be killed by the infected rather than getting involved and putting himself at risk.

    This is a story of “revenge”, which begins with Abby who lost all her friends because of it, then leaps to Ellie who was left broken because of it and Tommy who also ended up obsessed and alone because of it, fills players with the same rage and desire for a revenge but lefts them with the same feeling these characters ended up with: disappointment.

    Yeah, it was unpleasant, but that seems like the goal here. So, I consider it a success.    … Expand

    Play it before hating this masterpiece. It's an emotional adventure, which let's us gamers think about what's is right and wrong. Only because you don't like the story it isn't a bad story :)

Is the last of us part II a game that is perfect and a true game of the generation? I honestly don't think so. Is this game great and worth playing for every PS4 owner? Hell yea. These days we are not getting a lot of single-player narrative focused games without an open world. We should be thankful for this game beacuse it's one of few that are like that. I don't understand the people that are angry about the story, about how they killed theirs favourite characters. This isn't a story in which you think wow this character is the good one and this one is bad one I hate the bad one and love the good one. Everyone is a scumbag, everyone has a reason to be a scumbag. Ellie got her Father figure killed, but Abby had her real Dad killed by Joel, Joel not only killed her father but Joel made saving the world from the Infected impossible. Everyone has their reason but everyone is driven by the need to revenge, and that is never good. Overall the gameplay is still great for people that liked TLOU 1. And the graphics are just incredible. I don't think that for most people this game will be a game of generation, for me personally it is not, but it is hell of a game, and one of the best I played.… Expand

    This game leaves a pain in the heart, especially when it is said and done. It never goes the way that you want it to go or you would think it would go. Every character in the game has his own motives, drives and also demons that fights inside. The game does a great job puting you in the shoes of these characters and somehow justify their actions as brutal as they may seem. At first i was really sceptical of the way Naughty Dog decided to go with the story, but when i finished it, I had no doubt in my mind that they did an extraordinary job. The epilogue of the story was the part that made it in my mind one of the greatest games i have ever played. It really closed very well a cycle of revenge and also actions that had no turning back, to the point that makes you wonder how did we come to this and was this vengeance really worth it after all? But just as real life you just have to look forward and live with them.… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
