This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was really dissapointed! The graphics are amazing, but the thing that caught my eye about TLoU1 was the amazing story, - the relationship between Joel and Ellie, the character build-up and the way they don't act as "heroes", but they act human. (Joel, saving Ellie, even though it was selfish, it was human! We grew to love her and also didn't want to sacrifice her!) We waited so long for TLoU2 and we got this?! One of the most loveable characters, just killed with a golf club? Him, giving his identity to a stranger is way out of character! Totally not a way Joel would act! Then, we have to play as the same person that killed Joel, and we have to try and kill the character we grew to love SO MUCH? And you expect us to just feel good about playing as her and betray our favourite characters? In the first game, when the moment came, we didn't want to sacrifice Ellie. Why would we want to kill her now? Why would we want to play as the character that murdered the fan-favourite? You worked so hard and I recognize that. But we waited so long, had our hopes up for another story with our beloved characters - the duo, Joel and Ellie. Why did you think it would be a good idea to force us to play as Abby? I rate it a three, because of the graphics. I refuse to play. Expand

Everything about this game surpasses the first one. People who complain about the story are obviously either missing the whole point of the story or have dreamt up a story of their own in the last 7 years and butthurt that it doesn't follow their expectations. The game is an improvement over its predecessor and hits you in the gut with its emotional story and powerful message yet once again!

Well unfortunately in this game it's not the case, and no I havent played the game and u don't even need to play it to find out how trash the story really is, the only time where u actually might need to play it is when u want to find out how good the gameplay is, second off this game is a waste of 1. 60 bucks 2. Almost 25 hours of ur life, u can simply just open youtube and watch the whole game without having to spend 60 bucks, but that's up to you if you want, third off if u actually put graphics aside for a bit and compare the first game to this one u will lose ur **** this game is just so **** disappointing to just see this series going from one of my favourite games to this waste of time is just ridiculous, I've watched a streamer play this game and I **** u not I fell asleep the gameplay is so **** repetitive u literally do the same **** over and over again and u don't even feel like ur progressing through the game, all u do is just literally go. Back and forth until u just quit the game, if u were to remove cut scenes from the game no one would play the **** that's because no one plays the game for the gameplay, only the story which surprisingly they **** it up, Joel dies in the first two hours of the game and u don't even get to play with him, he dies in the most dumb way u can possibly think of by trusting and saving some random person he's never heard of then he proceeds to walk into their basement with his brother Tommy with other like 7 people who are some random people, yet in the first game Joel and Tommy barely trusted anyone which doesn't make any sense, after Joel dies by abby, the devs of this game literally force u to play as the character that killed Joel for like 10 hours at some point in the game which obviously makes u feel frustrated, u literally build ur relationship with other characters on the game and then they die because Ellie wants "revenge" yet at the end of the game u don't even kill abby u just spare her, oh and what does Ellie get when she spares her? oh nothing really she just loses two of her fingers and loses her girlfriend and her baby and Tommy, the game makes u feel like a idiot for even spending the time to play it there's nothing to benefit off from playing this game, the best way to describe this game is this "at this point the game doesn't feel like a story, it feels like a **** message" Expand

This game was emotionally exhausting to get through, and I've been a wreck for days, but damn if it isn't one of the most amazing journeys I've ever been though, without even leaving my home. The father/daughter dynamic between Joel and Ellie is one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking relationships I've ever witnessed, very rarely have I felt such a strong connection to fictional characters, they eventually start to become as real to you as those you love who are actually alive. It's probably a weird and seemingly ridiculous concept for some people to grasp, but I guess you can't always understand something unless you've experienced it firsthand. Anyways, This game deserves none of the hate it's received, it's a daring, dark, hauntingly beautiful narrative that touches on loss, grief, hatred and the true nature of revenge, and it's a hard pill to swallow at times.
I can't recommend this game enough, but be warned, it's **** heavy.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let me start this off by saying that I wanted to like this game. I was anticipating its release for the longest time. When it was postponed the second time, I was beyond sad. And when we got a new date, I was so damn happy. I wouldn't shut up about it when speaking to my friends, I kept saying that it would be the greatest game ever made by any company. When I got my hands on it, I was terrified that bad things would happen. I was unaware at the start that we would be lied to by the developers. How were we lied to, you ask? Well, in the trailers we were led to believe that we would be on an adventure with Joel again after all of the years of waiting. We would be getting revenge together for a common disturbance that needed to be rectified. But no, instead of Joel and Ellie speaking in the present, we only see flashbacks. In the teaser trailer, Joel grabs Ellie from behind and when she asks what he's doing here, he says "You think I'd let you do this on your own?" This is one of the main reasons I bought the game in the first place. After his death, we see this same scene again except Jesse is the one grabbing her from behind and saying the SAME EXACT LINE that Joel did in the teaser. In the "screenshots" released, Joel and Ellie's present models were used to make us think we'd be on an adventure with him again. But no, in the game the scenes were just flashbacks. What they did to deceive us, in my opinion, is unfair and heartbreaking. I feel utterly betrayed.

The story itself is built horribly, making us sympathize with the one who killed Joel. They even force us to play as her. IF we didn't have to play as her, if we had to find her and kill her, the game would've received a way different rating. The story still wouldn't be good, as I personally would've done Joel's death way different. Abby's character and motive to hurt Joel would've been more demented, instead of killing him.. kill someone he loves in retaliation. Say... Tommy. His character at the end of the game was a broken man anyway. If Jackson ever got compromised, he'd surely die with that horrible limp and impaired vision.

Ellie's decision to let Abby go in the first place is completely pointless. Many love to raise the argument that she did it because "revenge isn't the answer". Well, if that's the case, how do you justify what Abby did? She murdered Joel. Plain and simple. Joel did what he did out of love for Ellie, and Abby did what she did out of love for her own father. Why is it bad that Ellie would want the same thing?

"I'm gonna find . . . and I'm gonna kill . . . EVERY. LAST. ONE OF THEM. Except for the one who killed my father figure. She gets to live!"

Makes absolutely no sense to me.

    Here's my final thoughts:

If you leave a character with less than they started with, or with nothing; then you went absolutely nowhere. You took one step forwards, then two steps back. Ellie lost Joel, her stable relationship with Tommy, Dina and the baby, and her ability to play guitar(which was her only way that she could feel connected to Joel). Having her walk off into the woods makes me thing that Naughty Dog is considering a third game, and I hope they see this.

PLEASE DO NOT MAKE A THIRD. Your writers have already destroyed this story.

To the actors, I have nothing against you. I'm assuming you had no say in anything.

The story is BRUTAL and it often elicited emotions that made me genuinely uncomfortable, but the payoff was super cathartic. The gameplay felt great, it has everything good from the first one and a few added mechanics that made fights feel really fluid. Needless to say, the graphics were phenomenal. The amount of detail made me want to take my time and explore every bit of the levels. The puzzles were definitely light in comparison with TLOU, but the ones that stood out were surprisingly natural. Figuring out a solution kind of felt like it wasn't even a fabricated puzzle at all and I just happened to find a way to solve a problem naturally.
It's crazy how some people are putting this game on blast. Reading a bunch of negative reviews I get the impression that these people either didn't even play the game or are just salty about one certain plot point and refuse to enjoy a narrative that makes them feel complex emotions. I feel sorry for everyone that can't appreciate how absurdly good this game is, both as a spectacular sequel to a game that should have been impossible to follow, and just as an awesome game in its own right.

The two largest twists of the story were completely anticlimactic and a big middle finger to the fans of the first game. You aren't likely to get attached to any of the characters in the new game, which is really shocking for a Naughty Dog title. It's also extremely clear that Naughty Dog had a political agenda when creating this game. Let me be clear, it's not the agenda that makes the story a 0/10. It's the agenda coupled with a complete disregard for what the fan base deems as beloved characters as well as a completely inconsistent story with very little depth. Unfortunate, considering the studios last 5 new gen games had some of the best storytelling in video game history.

Gameplay didn't see much of an improvement over the first game, but it didn't need to improve here. Graphics on the other hand are leaps and bounds greater than the previous game and I didn't even think that was really possible after the first game was remastered for PS4.

Sadly the story is the most important part of any game like this. And the first game was so well done that it was hard for any game to live up to the high bar it set. Unfortunately, this not only didn't reach the bar the first game set, this set that bar on fire as if it never existed.

The first title should've never received a sequel with the same characters if it was to be done so poorly. To me, Last of Us is the only game in this "franchise".

Graphically and gameplay-wise, I have a hard time giving this less than a 7, but because the story is so poorly done, so poorly thrown together and is such an integral part of the franchise that this game is a 5 for fans, a 7 for newcomers. A 6 is fair. This is the Haze of the PS4.

I initially thought I was the only one who felt Joel's regret when he disclosed his name to Abby and the group. The things that followed happened so quickly that I didn't get to ponder much upon it but having Troy and Neil go over it surely stemmed in me the depth of storytelling that took place in mere seconds. Istg I can't stress this enough, but massive massive humongous props to the Dogs for making those few seconds matter so much. Joel was still as, if not more nuanced than the previous game. A path that is filled with violence, brutality, and more than anything -- grief, as you get the occasional glimpse of a beautiful past. Slowly you find yourself shifting from hatred towards sympathy, sadness and understanding. Still left with a sense of anger underneath, unable to place it. Both you and the characters find that the path has led you astray.. you are lost in the dark. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I want to preface this by saying that I absolutely loved the first game and its characters.

Let's talk positives first. The technical aspect is suberb. TLOUII is visually breathtaking, the animations, the sound, the graphics are impressive considering the almost decade old hardware it's running on, huge props to the visual and environment artists. Like holy **** the quality of the facial expressions is incredible.

The gameplay is alright, it's slightly improved here and there, you can go prone and takeout enemies by jumping on them, however it can go repetitive after a while since melee combat essentially is press square to hit and L1 to dodge, and there's not a lot of ammo around.

The story is where this game completely ****s the bed. It manages to destroy everything you loved about the first game. It is full of disappointment, misery, plot holes and characters doing stupid things and complete 180's in the span of hours. Playing as this comically buff villain that brutally tortures and beats Joel to death just so the story can progress feels so cheap and disrespectful. From that point on Abby becomes irredeemable no matter how much dogs or saving animals the story shoves down your throat during her flashbacks. You're supposed to feel bad for her because her father died, even thought he wanted to perform nonconsensual lethal surgery on a child for a make-believe "cure" that had no guarantee of working. Playing as her for half the game was miserable.
Ellie's flashbacks are so much more engaging and fun compared to the rest of the game it's like they were given to the new intern to write.

There are way more points to consider but I don't give enough ****s to cover everything. I don't think the game is a 0/10 because there are things to love about it, but no way in hell is this a 10/10. "You don't like the game because you're homophobic" is a **** strawman and most of the valid criticism doesn't involve that, even though for me personally it is slightly over the top.Great visuals, serviceable gameplay and horrible story. I'd give it a 5 the it wasn't for the controversy surrounding Naughty Dog abusing copyright laws to strike down youtube channels who were discussing the leaks and spoilers, not to mention the Joel false advertising, censorship double standards, Neil Druckmann lying that Ellie was the only playable character and Abby not being advertised anywhere even though she's the PC in half the game.

This game though, i cannot articulate a sentence powerful enough to convey my disappointment. I feel like they did not consider the prior fan base attachment at all. Sure there are heartfelt moments in the game such as the museum scene but after what they did to Joel. I wont accept this story as something meant for their fans. I felt no attachment or sympathy for anyone in Abby's portion of the story.

As for the the visuals, sound, music, voice acting, it was great. Just as expected from naughty dog. The game play is similar to the first which i cant complain about but at 29 hours game time, i got extremely bored of the repetitiveness in enemies. It felt like the same layout with different background. Playing on hard, i found the game was too easy and forgiving on resources. I used maybe 2 health packs the entire play through. One on the tutorial and another when i got bored and rushed enemies in the final chapter. There was always snacks and resources to grab everywhere if you explored enough.

Just based on the story, if i could go back in time, id cancel my pre-order and pretend Joel is still living a life watching over Ellie in Jackson with Tommy and Maria. This thing is just a heartache for the fans of the IP.

I, personally, liked the two storylines of Ellie and Abby(though I think Abby's storyline was carried longer than it should be). This is not the route lot of us, the last of us part 1 fans(including me), we're expecting the developers to take, but i appreciate what they've done here and I think they've created a masterpiece. The visuals, the soundtrack, the gameplay, the story(with some flaws) is awesone. The only reason I'm giving it a 9 is because I wanted to see more of Joel and because Joel deserved a better death Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let me start this off by saying that my anticipation for this game has been extremely high. I have been looking forward to this for years. I consider The Last Of Us to be my all-time favorite game. Now for my review of The Last Of Us 2...

This game is filled with stunning visuals, great voice acting, smooth transitions, and intuitive gameplay. Unfortunately, this is a story based game and quite frankly the story is bad. The first game was about redemption, rebuilding a broken and terrible man into a decent human being who becomes the father figure of a scared and lonely girl. Her light, helps to rebuild Joel and make him probably the most loved father figure character in gaming. Then the writers completely destroy that very early in the second game. Ellie treats him poorly and she cannot relate to the fact that he loves her and wants to protect her like a father would. She pushes him away at every opportunity. The release timing on this game couldn’t have been worse, Father’s Day weekend...WOW...you want to destroy a beloved father on Father’s Day weekend...unbelievable!

Most fans expected that Joel would die in the sequel. My problem is not that he dies, but rather, how he dies. Torture? Really? I understand Abby wanting revenge for her fathers death, but the torture was not warranted. We are supposed to be ok with this and then you want us to play more than half the game as Abby. We HATE Abby for torturing and killing Joel. There can be no redemption story here. The writers have overreached in thinking that players would accept Abby after this. We’ve spent hours upon hours of playing as Joel and Ellie and have grown to love him. You can’t possibly torture one of them and not expect a visceral reaction.

I was ready to quit playing when the game started to make me play as Abby, but my love for the first game made me see this one through to the end. There were too many subtleties to mention here about how the writers attempted to make Abby the good guy and Ellie the bad guy...Abby loves dogs, Ellie kills dogs, Etc. I absolutely hated playing as Abby.

The game did have some good moments. The flashback to Joel taking Ellie for a birthday surprise was excellent. It was thoughtful, meaningful, and heartfelt. It really was special.

There was a point near the end that I thought some sort of overall story redemption could happen, but it didn’t, it got worse. When Ellie rescued Abby and Lev at the end I thought “hey, this would be a great time for Ellie to see it wasn’t worth it and Abby’s concern for Lev was worth letting her live and leave in peace”. Instead, the writers created one of the most brutal fight scenes I’ve had to play. I was begging for it to stop. I hated what they turned Ellie into. THAT’S NOT ELLIE!

I’m appalled at what the writers have done to these beloved characters. I play games for enjoyment. Think of it as a mini-escape from real life. I don’t need ugly terrible lessons shoved down my throat. This game was a hard and terrible pill to swallow. I wish now that I didn’t finish the game. They have ruined the story line for me. I started a new game+, but have found that I just am not interested. I’ve replayed the first game at least a dozen times on 2 platforms, I won’t be playing The Last Of Us 2 again. That really saddens me. They’ve ruined the franchise. If they make a part 3, I won’t buy it. They lied to us over and over in the lead up to part 2. I can’t trust them again. So, they may have ruined the Naughty Dog name as well. I am beyond sad about this game.

I hear that they’re getting an HBO series based on this...I WON’T BE WATCHING!

I can see the big vision of this game. actually, in the world of last of us. everyone is the last. they could have been dead at anytime (P.S. So what do we get when we strip a heavily story based game out of it's story? Another mediocre zombie survival game with good visuals and gameplay from 2013. And quite frankly good visuals from Naughty Dog is not an acheivement anymore. They have the know how, they did it before with previous generations of PS, so it's not a big deal for them to use every genertion of playstation to it's limits. Quite frankly it's not a big deal for any AAA studio anymore.

In my opinion this game is a 5/10 at best. I can understand all those 0/10, as the fanbase is furious and wants to make a statement with those bomb reviews. But all those 10/10 critics scores are a joke and show in what state the gaming journalism really is.
If a linear stroy driven game with really weak story, good visuals, mediocre gameplay, combat that lacks variety get's a 10/10, then what score should RDR2, The Witcher 3, or Final Fantasy XIV get? I guess a 20/10.

10/10 should be acheived by groundbreaking titles only. That score is for games that have great graphics, amazing story, memorable characters, fun an challenging gameplay, spot on sound and deliver innovative features/concepts that nobody tried before. And sadly TLOU2 gives us only great graphics. Everything else is just mediocre at best.

The Graphics are Realy Beautiful this is why i gave 1 Point but the Story.... lets begin with the Start.
First of, killing a Friend or Mentor, Family member at the start of the Game is one of the laziest and most uncreative ways to start a Story that could have gone in so many Directions that the First game made open at the end but ok, it worked. I hated that Character so much that it kept me going. It had good moments and the "flashback" parts where realy good and made me Love the Joel&Ellie relationship even more wich also resulted in hating Abby even more. Killing her Friends was not satisfying enough but was a good start. So far so good, but then it started to get ridiculous.
What the HELL did you think you where doing Naughty Dog ?!?
You forced us to Play as Abby ? The one Character we wanted to kill on the most Brutal and sadistic way that would be possible without the game getting Banned!?! You wanted to make us have feelings about her and her Friends ? You wanted to make us feel sorry for her and her dumb father ? You wanted to Justify her actions and thought that we would think that she had the right to kill Joel ? Yeah, guess what ? IT DID NOT WORK! All that it did was wanting her even more dead. I gave and give a damn **** about her feelings her friends and her damn father all i want is too f***ing kill her! There was absolutely not even a little bit of room for empathy or feelings towards this f***ing piece of sh** called Abby. Then the second part did end and you made us fight against Ellie... i realy don`t know what you did think to yourself while your where writing and develop the second part of the game... and then you let it end there with everyone going there ways and the second part ends. At that time i realy thought this would be it, this is how it ends. But no, you made us Hope that we would get what we where all waiting for throughout the entire Game. Once more we are going out to seek Abby and leave everything behind us to finally Kill that piece of sh**. And than what ? Right, wen don`t get it. The game ends and Abby is still alive... Did you realy thought that what was happening to Abby at the end of the game would make us Happy enough ? That we think that she suffered enough ? Pathetic.... All that we wanted was to f***ing Kill her, too slaughter her, too make die a slow and Painful way but you, Naughty Dog, did not give us that satisfaction, you did not give us Justice. You did not Deliver! Another Franchise is Ruined, another once so good Developer is gone. All that you did with this game, Naughty Dog, is that you will go Down like all the other developers that did not Deliver and let their Fans down. Naughty Dog you are just a huge disappointment....

The downfall is the absolutely horrible story they gave us for this. The characters aren’t the same from the last game and this game literally dumbed down Joel and had him get killed like a rat in the first two hours and then they try to make Ellie seem like the antagonist when she’s not and they try to make you care about Abby when a majority of the people who played through the story can’t stand her for the way she killed Joel. Oh and not to mention she killed Jesse like nothing too. Jesse was the only new character I was interested in and they kill him like that. Abby killed Joel, killed Jesse, almost killed Tommy and Dina, and she bit off Ellie’s fingers. Ellie’s killed lots of people trying to get to Abby and then she just lets her get away with killing Joel and Jesse and biting her fingers off. And at some point in the game when you play as Abby Ellie is a boss battle which no one wanted to play as Abby and every person I’ve seen play through this let Ellie kill them as Abby multiple times. This game could’ve been a masterpiece if it wasn’t for this horrible fan-fiction story telling. They can either remake this sequel entirely or they can redeem themselves with a third last of us with better story telling and not his fan-fiction bs! Expand

Not entirely perfect but pretty close. The deep themes of love and loss, vengeance, mental illness and struggles are obviously missed by a lot of people who don’t understand it. Put yourself in Ellie’s shoes and you’ll understand. The fact that people complained and thought Abby was trans because of her MUSCLES further proves my point of all the toxic fanboyism. The Last of Us Part 2 is actually a good game, but a terrible sequel. We have now an open world, amazing an addictive combat and an okay soundtrack by Gustavo Santaolalla that is saved by Mr Robot's composer Mac Quayle.

Everything great until that. Except for the story. Neil Druckmann is so obsessed with creating an story about revenge that in the path he forgets that he is treating with two of the most beloved characters of this decade. He decides to introduce a new character to the franchise and forces player to understand her and he even adds scenes that look to proof her 'humanity'.

By the way, if Druckmann wants to player to feel something for the character that killed Joel, he is in a bad way showing us an intense and kinda awkward sex scene. But Abby is forced character that even in the end doesn't pay for her actions.

But flashbacks (Ellie and Joel, of course) are the best and at the same time GREAT part of the game, and that's what The Last of Us was always about, a beautiful love story between two lost people in a destroyed world, people who lost every reason to live but they're forced to keep walking in the world, but they're not alone anymore once they find each other. That's The Last of Us and Neil Druckmann seems to understand that when he wrote flashbacks along with Halley Gross. But when we go to present story seems to go worse after some great flashbacks.

Shannon Woodward as Dina is great, I don't know if maybe it's because of her voice or because the way character is written, to be a kind, sweet and at the same time strong character. She is great.

If Neil Druckmann wouildn't decided to go with a hate, revenge and consequences story we might have another great game, however it's not the case. And we get to a terrible conclusion, where the whole journey of Ellie becomes pointless, stupid, awful. Wish I could talk a little bit more about this, but in the end if we remove the moment where she decides to let Abby go we might have a good ending where the character finally finished her journey. But of course, that's not happening.

Sadly we can't say it's a great game when story is just terrible, but if you're not a fan of The Last of Us you'll have a great game that will offer you a long and great experience. But if that's not the case you will just hate it.

Let's just ignore this game exists anyway.

The combat system gets a bit tedious after repeatedly dodging and mashing the square button or creeping up behind an enemy and choking them out repeatedly, not to mention the jump button only works in certain areas.

A narrative breaking moment is getting Joel to forget all his survival skills by giving out is real name to Abby, this totally contradicts Joel's character from the first game. I derived no joy from playing Abby for nearly 10 hours, I had no investment in this character whatsoever and she overburdened the story in a needless way. I'm sure Naughty Dog once said that you only get to play as Ellie, that is quite deceitful of them and no wonder reviewers were not allowed to speak about certain parts of the game. All I wanted to do for those 10 hours was get back to playing Ellie.

While the game did display fantastic graphical vistas and some varied combat options Part II lacks the sensitively emotional style that made the original epic such a masterpiece.

The Last of Us: Left Behind DLC user score is 8.1 on metacritic which proves players didn't have a problem will Ellie's sexuality so using Bigotry as an excuse for bad reviews is used as a shield against criticism and contradictory to actual reality. The overwhelming majority of gamers don't care that a character is gay or straight, gamers care about the entertainment value, they care if the game was good and if the game was fun to play.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a massive fan of the Original The Last of Us game, I had high hopes for this latest installment. Technically the game runs great and the extra specs of the ps4 allow for much more open levels and graphical improvements. Theres a few minor gameplay improvements but more of the same here.
All this however only counts for the one and only star awarded in this review.
Everything above are bells and whistles when it comes to Naughty Dog games such as The Last of Us and the Uncharted series. Its the plot, the storytelling, the character development, and how invested we are in the characters.
This is were The Last of Us 2 falls flat.
Out of all the scripts that were proposed at naughty dog this is what they chose, its truly bizarre.

    Spoilers...

To sum up, Joel is killed very early into the game. Ellie sets out on a revenge story which pales in comparison to Joels death scene, I expected hell hath no fury, some very tame encounters. Not only that halfway through the game you play as Joels killer and finish out the game with her.
Its just bizarre that they thought that we'd feel such little sense of loss for Joel that we'd be happy to play as his killer for the remainder of the game.
If the plot they've chosen to go with has to have Joel dead then atleast make it about revenge for Joel, and not have me play through half the game trying to convince me Joels death was justified because i for one am not interested.
Its a story that nobody wanted i think thats the consensus here. They should of went with a better script in my opinion, and written another adventure for Joel and Ellie. Its a simple as that. Oh what could of been...

But I just cannot tolerate poor story writing, plot-holes, worse melee mechanics, game-bloat collectibles... I cried twice during the Last Of Us Part 1 - I admit it. it's story was that different - that unique - that powerful. And that's really where this game falls apart - is in its story telling. The one thing that made this IP epic, seven years ago....

The Last of Us Part 2 had me crying but only bemoaning the loss of what was once a testament to what story could be in a video game! The Last of Us gave us a model for what was possible through tightly written well paced drama. Instead its successor seems hellbent, determined to undo the first game in literal ways as well as metaphorical but I digress for spoiler reasons. It is so unfortunate to see my fellow gamers echoing and sympathizing with these sentiments on other open platforms and this game to still have received such a high score by critics - the truth is this game sits at a 6 or 7 and that would be for someone unfamiliar with the first game. But what is more unfortunate, if you play the first game after playing this - it won't make any damn sense.

Something is very wrong. We've forgotten how to write. GoT after Martin. The soap opera that became the Walking Dead. The endless amount of content is not necessary if you don't tell your story well. The creative forces behind Naughty Dog sound genuine and I don't want to be dismissive of their good intentions but... whatever the message, moral or meaning of this journey was - was just unnecessary, confusing and forgettable. Go read or watch "The Road" instead and please don't hide behind various movements to justify your bad story telling, your poor product. Distasteful all around and not in the way the developers intended.

However Joel who is an intelligent character would never get himself into a situation with unknown characters like in the events of the game and wouldnt willing give out information like his name and where he comes from. The theme of an eye for an eye plays heavily into this game but by the games climax your left wondering what was these 25 hours for ?

My one minor quibble is that perhaps it would have flowed better in a traditional chronological order - perhaps by playing the second act first - but ultimately it doesn’t matter when considered as a whole. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first game in this series is an unequivocal masterpiece, which is why I think this game left such a poor taste in my mouth.

The Last Of Us Part II has a subpar story with even worse gameplay. The story consists of a tired narrative of "revenge bad" while allowing the antagonist to get her revenge with little meaningful consequences. The gameplay is almost the exact same as in the first game. Which would be fine if it wasn't the worst part of the first game.

I'm Giving The Last Of Us Part II a 3 out of 10 due to being a playable if not a boring game

The story is god awful, pacing is terrible (especially in places where there are flashbacks, like those could have been switched around to ease up the dramatic twists happening super early in the game), and the characters' actions make no sense. You know some of these characters from the first game, you know how they act and carry themselves around but here IT MAKES NO SENSE WHAT THEY DO. The theme is the most generic thing ever compared to the unique theme of the first game. Fantastic game! Beautiful graphics with wonderfully detailed environments and characters. The gameplay is better than ever, with more ways to approach every encounter than part 1. The story is a great tale of revenge. What make both games so special is that the story does not care about your feelings. Naughty Dog has a story they want to tell and they don't care if it upsets a few people.

I won't spoil it for those that have not played it yet except to say that it is a game about revenge, Once this becomes apparent you never forget the old saying that when you set out on the path of revenge, dig two graves,
