    The Last Of Us part 2 had me go through all the emotions. I could not put the game down once I started engaging in the story. It has great character development as well as a well put together story to follow. This sequel is true to its name as a part 2 of The Last Of Us. I’ve seen a lot of hate because of the playthrough with Abby but it made the game much better. The soundtrack, the mood and the overall ambience of the game was perfect. Definitely a shock in the beginning for me because I never read or look at spoilers.. but I continued with the game regardless. I like how they made you contemplate if Ellie and Joel were the real bad guys for what they did to Abbys Father. It’s a nice change of pace and closing to Elles Story. Hopefully a third game comes out where you play as Abby.… Expand

Но и также в противовес всему откровенный слив. Во первых разрабы ввели в заблуждение всех своим трейлером, где Джоэл якобы отправляется с Элли, из за чего я с полной уверенностью продолжения приключений побежал и сделал предзаказ, а в итоге ожидания были разрушены, как это назвать если не обманом? Во вторых прохождение за Эбби - шляпа. Ну не смог я ей сопереживать , хоть и пытался, правда пытался. В третьих странно прописаны персонажи. Джоэл так беспечно подставился в начале, вы серьезно? Томми швыряет из стороны в сторону. Дина очень понравилась, но её взяли и вывели из игры грубо говоря. Хотелось ее больше в игре, больше химии с Элли. Отступники "шрамы" тоже симпатизировали, но хотелось бы увидеть бы их за компанию за Элли. Простите, но какого рожна я должен играть за какого то высосанного из пальца персонажа, если я хочу играть за героев первой части. Ну не волнует меня Эбби, да понятно, она тоже человек, да убили отца, но кого это волнует когда ты сопереживаешь родным персонажам, которым была посвящена целая игра, а тут тебя пытаются за пол игры заставить полюбить совершенно чужого персонажа, да и ещё забившего до смерти клюшкой Джоэла, который, напомню, без разговоров бросился помочь незнакомке. Но это все лирика. В общем можно долго говорить, но повторюсь игра в целом хороша, драматична и вложено в нее сил немало, но это не совсем то что лично я ждал столько лет. Графика, физика предметов и персонажей на высшем уровне, чувствуется кропотливая работа. Геймплей супер, а особенно понравилось куча всяких тонких настроек. За это отдельный плюс. Минус за обманутые ожидания посредством лжетрейлера, слабый сюжет и неудачное решение передать игроку управление за Эбби, да и в целом ее за уши притянутую историю.
    P.s. напоследок хотелось сказать что после всего того что прошли главные герои первой части, взяли и так бездарно слили Джоэла, ещё и в самом начале. Можно было столько всего интересного придумать, столько драмы нагнать, развить тему "цикад" и вакцины, возможно и что то другое, было целое непаханое поле. Но увы и ах.    … Expand

    The story had its ups and downs. I don’t mean in the writing, I mean in how I felt. I think it was done on purpose. I hated certain moments of this game. Particularly towards the middle and end. But as it went on, I became attached and understood the reason behind why I am playing. The game makes it seem like it is a story of revenge, and for parts of it, it is. But that is not the major theme. It branches out and does things that many of us did not want to happen. It pushed the limit on storytelling. It went against the grain of what people most likely wanted. It definitely isn't what I wanted or expected, but I really enjoyed all of it. I just had to finish the game and sit on it for a night before I took the time to write about it.    … Expand

    I actually played the game, unlike most who have review bombed this game. It's absolutely incredible. Every minute of it is tense, heart wrenching or just goddamn fun. There is a lot of context that you get from just being in the game-world that is utterly vital to the story, hence why many wont truly get it.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. para mi este juego esta bueno, no me gusta como esperaba pero tampoco me parece mal juego, sin embargo que yo me esperaba que muera joel ya que en esta historia no hay ni buenos ni malos la historia trata sobre supervivientes a una "pandemia", sin embargo a eso no me esperaba que muera asi, porque ya como vimos en la 1ra entrega, joel es una persona que después de esta catástrofe, empezó a desconfiar de todos, el se dedicaba a el contrabando( el daba armas a grupos y ellos les pagaban),también cuando se encuentra con sam y henry el desconfía demasiado al principio, entonces me parece muy raro que cuando abby le dice a joel y thomy que pueden ir a su mansión donde están sus amigos me parece raro que joel y thomy no desconfíen en ningún momento a pesar de lo que paso cada uno, en cuanto a abby me parece que ustedes quieren que entendamos y que nos encariñemos con el personaje, pero la mayoría llego a entenderla pero no a encariñarse, también elie al final entiende por que abby mato a joel, lo que pasa ahí es que elie entiende el sufrimiento de abby pero abby nunca entiende el sufrimiento de elie, y en cuanto al final a mi gusto( mi opinion) hubiera estado bueno que elie matara a abby así cerraba ese "ciclo" que tanto busco, porque elie principalmente queria venganza contra abby pero tuvo/quiso matar a todos sus amigos, entonces para mi elie tenia que matar a abby asi cerraba ese ciclo, pero eso lo digo como historia, en cambio el juego te da una moraleja de lo que causa la venganza. En mi opinión el juego si esta bueno pero no mucho pero no es malo esta en un punto intermedio, en cuanto a jugabilidad, graficos, un poco de la historia, y esas cosas el juego estuvo muy bueno, lo unico son esas cosas que recalque que EN MI OPINION arruinan un poco la historia, pero no la arruina del todo ni mucho, son pequeñas cosas que a mi gusto cambiaron todo el rumbo a lo que yo esperaba. Pero el juego en si esta muy bueno y me parece que no deberia tener todo el hate que tiene, nada mas lo que recalque y pocas cosas mas, pero no cambia demasiado la historia, la verdad que el juego esta bueno en si. I avoided the leaks and came into the game knowing nothing. After finishing it, I can't help but be disappointed. It seems Naughty Dog forgot what made the first game special. The quirky bits, interesting side characters and interesting story are not very present in this game. I was extremely disappointed to see that Joel's demise came because he trusted a stranger. Especially after being so cautious in the first game. But it had to happen considering this is a revenge story. So that out of the way, I am beyond perplexed as to why I had to play as Abby for half the game. It seems as if they tried to make Abby seem better than Ellie by trying to give her better parts, playing with dogs and giving more character development. All in all, I'm beyond disappointed and hope Naughty Dog gets back on track with their next game.… Expand

So if this game was a standalone game and were not a sequel to TLOU1 than it would be a pretty decent game but oh boy if you compare part 1 to part 2 there are dimensions between them. How could someone approve this kind of story writing? Almost all characters act out of their character what we learnt and seen throughout the first game and then they gave us new characters with almost no personalities and killed them off pretty fast and everyone just forgot about them like they never existed. I could go one and on and on but that would take too much time. So in conclusion:

    Gameplay: 4/10 (it's almost exactly the same like the first one)
    Music: 9/10
    Voice acting: 9/10
    Story: 2/10 (this is generous because of the flashbacks between Joel and Ellie)
    The game: 2/10

    If you loved the first game don't bother to buy the sequel you'll be disappointed how poorly they write and treated the characters we fell in love with through the first game. If you support this game it's like you would spit on joels corpse.    … Expand

    This is a story based game. Therefore if the story fails you have to minus more points even though the graphics and game play is exceptional. The story fails, Yes 3/10 seems brutal but if you played Sekiro and the boss's and combat suck you would take extra points off even though the world and graphics are really cool. If you do love misery porn then this will be a 10/10 for you

    A great game! Yes the story is very different but thats good. I don't need everything to have a happy ending in life like a Disney Movie. Real life is also not fair and cruel.
    I think they made a great Job.

    One of the best stories of all time. Never does a game manage to impact on your emotions as heavily as TLOU2, whether good or bad, undoubtedly this game has impacted many people deeply. Round it off with stunning visuals, top class sound design and upgraded gameplay and you’ve got one of the best games of all time.

    I think I´m a minority in this topic, but this game hit all the right notes with me. And is really sad that this isn´t happening with other gamers. Personal context can change every piece of art and in this case, you really have to understand that this is a linear story. Choices are taken by characters, not the player. Игра сама по себе не плоха, сюжетная линия среднечек (не для фанатов 1 части), любителям толерастии особенно понравится (тут им и лгбт и сильные накаченные независимые дамы, ну и как же без трансгендеров). Графически очень понравилась! Но советую ее проходить только на ютубе, так как очень долгая и эмоции она вам не передаст в отличии от оригинальной версии.Ну, что сказать!     impeccable technical work. But the most importantly, the narrative, is so bad that we hope they never use this title again. the franchise "THE LAST OF US" is dead.

    The only reason I gave an 9 is because I played just first 5 hours of the game otherwise probably I will give a 10. So far is a great game from my perspective, I don’t care about any LGBT **** in the game, I just enjoy the game and period. Beautiful looking and a good story with twists and turns ! Good one Naughty Dog !!!

New enemies did not add any new interesting challenges, besides the dogs perhaps, but they were still quite easy to avoid (the game also forces the player to kill a dog in a quick time event, even though it marketed itself as a game that does not require killing dogs. The story did not appeal to me either, many of the new cast were not well developed, nor did their decisions make any sense (one of the most ridiculous things in the game is a pregnant lady putting herself in unnecessarily dangerous situations).… Expand

Ok, we understand that Joel killer her father and that she wanted revenge but we could have started the game with Abby’s story and experience her father’s death with her so we like her from the beginning, so that when she kills Joel we can at least understand at first why she did that, but why have Joel killed from the third hour of the game and have us hating on Abby so much then forcing us to play with her (and helping Lev and his sister sh*t won’t make us love her, this was just a waste of time) We should have stopped playing with Abby right after Joel’s death and continue with Ellie then meet her at the end of the game or something so we have hate built up towards her (that’s after loving her from the beginning of the game) and Joel’s death scene could have been so much more emotional, come on naughty dog. The story felt like it was written by a kid who hates Joel so much and didn’t want to play with Ellie anymore.
    Graphics could have been better in my opinion and there is a lot of glitches throughout the story that disrupts the experience even more.
    I wish they didn’t make this sequel as it ruins the first one for everyone.

    I still love naughty dog and still think they are one of the best game developers out there, but they just didn’t go right with this one. Sorry.    … Expand

It's not the type of game to rush through, you have to take it slowly and experience the amazing graphics and surroundings you are in. If you have never played this game then you have no idea what you are talking about. It's a game to play, to experience and to love from beginning middle and end. Never judge this game by leaks or vids, play it for yourself and you'll be blown away on how well amazing this, game really is. Worth every penny. What a masterpiece.… Expand

    The leaks were all true, the story was a disappointment. Displaced with no flow 7 years of development wasted in my opinion. The only positive thing I can say is the graphics were fantastic that’s why I gave it a 4. Everything else was just plain bad.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us is one of my all time favorite games, so I was obviously very much looking forward to Part 2. I avoided all the spoilers and leaks and went into the game without a skewed perspective (other than maybe my own excitement and expectations based on the first game).
    Two hours in and nothing has really happened, and there doesn't seem like a clear direction for the story. You're playing as Ellie, but at one point that switches and you're playing as a character named Abby. You have no idea who she is, who her friends are, why you're playing as her, but you know they're looking for someone who might be living in Jackson. Then, playing as Ellie you watch this Abby person smash Joel's head in with a golf club, thus setting up Ellie's revenge quest.

    The game looks great, it's graphically pretty stunning, and I didn't mind the first 12ish hours of gameplay - playing as Ellie. There are parts that drag on for far too long, and the exploration gets stale. I just wanted to get to my next destination and progress the story. As Ellie the game makes you do some pretty awful stuff and seems to be intentionally trying to villainize her character, while also making her seem very bland, flat, uninteresting, and one-note. Then, after about 12 hours, there's a switch and you're back to playing Abby. Halfway through the game you have to play the girl who beat Joel's head in, and also start over with modding weapons and specs. During the beginning of this portion you learn that Abby's dad was the surgeon Joel killed to save Ellie at the end of TLOU. ND is shoving Abby down your throat, trying to make her sympathetic at every turn -
    Ellie kills dogs in her parts, Abby pets them and throws them balls!
    Ellie is killing everyone, Abby saves two kids from a cult!
    Ellie murders a pregnant woman, Abby stops herself from killing a pregnant woman!
    In trying to make Abby some sort of foil to Joel or Ellie, they demonize those two characters to try to prop Abby up, and force the "you have to look at things from other perspectives" aspect down your throat. I didn't want to play as Abby. I didn't sympathize, or empathize with her. She killed Joel, as Ellie looked on, begging for her to stop.
    The new characters are all fairly uninteresting, on both sides. I have zero investment in Abby's friends, and the folks on Ellie's side are just as boring and forgettable. The best moments of the game are flashbacks of Ellie and Joel, and watching their relationship fade over time as Ellie begins to question what happened at the hospital, and eventually finds out. They're emotional moments that I wish had been explored further.
    Now, the ending. After playing as Abby for 10-12 hours, you shift back to Ellie. She's living on a farm with Dina and their kid, and it seems like happy times. But Ellie is having flashbacks of Joel and embarks on another quest to kill Abby. Now we're in Santa Barbara. All of this felt disjointed and I felt really disconnected from the game by now. I really didn't want to continue and I honestly didn't care anymore about Abby or revenge, because Joel has gotten kind of lost in all of this by now. When he was killed I cracked my knuckles and was ready to go on this journey with Ellie to get revenge. At the end I had lost all of that. Anyway, turns out Abby has been taken prisoner by some group in CA. Suddenly it feels like we're playing Tomb Raider or Uncharted and Ellie is breaking into a compound with a prison only to kill Abby. All in all, after a fight and Ellie almost killing Abby, Ellie has a flashback of Joel and lets Abby go. In the fight Abby bites off two of Ellie's fingers. Ellie returns to an empty farmhouse. Dina is gone. She can't play the guitar Joel gave her. She has nothing. Oh, and Abby sailed off into the sunset with this kid who she was protecting. So, yeah, revenge is bad, but only sometimes, I guess?
    This game could have been great and could have explored so many aspects of this world, but they shoved an unsympathetic character down your throat, killed Joel in a very cheap manner, in a story riddled with plot holes and characters doing things very out of character. The pacing was off, the story waned, and two beloved characters were destroyed. It felt like the pretentious bs that a Fine Arts major college student would try to pass off as deep and philosophical, but has no actual depth or purpose, then those who don't like it are blamed for "not getting it".    … Expand

I understand some of the complaints people have with the story but it doesn't deserve the level of hate it's getting, if you give this game a rating lower than 7 that is crazy for me but to each their own. This is a great game in every aspect, loved the gameplay, obviously the graphics and the art design are amazing, the music is perfect and the storytelling is so good it made me feel all kind of emotions and the story makes perfect sense after the event that happened at the end of the first one. The characters are great and complex, i loved Ellie and, after killing Joel i didn't think i would say this but, i loved Abby too and they made me feel for her and understand her motivation.
    The only complaint i have is that the ending is too depressing i would have preferred a more bittersweet ending, showing Ellie reuniting with Dina and JJ, and even tough i liked the last flashback it left me wanting more, like maybe having them play guitar together one last time would have been perfect. So that is why is not a 10/10 for me but it was really close to it and maybe after experiencing the story a second time knowing what happens it could get there.

I'm upset over the fact that Ellie is a LGBTQ+ character, hey that's great, she was even like that in part 1. What I am upset about is the lack of good storytelling a character development. I mean Abby basically does whatever she wants throughout the whole game and gets away scott free, by killing Joel, scarring Tommy and giving Ellie PTSD. She murders countless people and does not even pay once, how in the f*ck is that fair? Not to mention, when Ellie finally has the chance to take revenge she just what? Chooses not to? Because of the memory of Joel? F*ck that in thw first game, she was upset over being alone and does whatever she can to survive and takes care of Joel like her own father and the fact that he is brutally murdered isn't enough to take revenge?!     I understand the anger people feel towards multiple keymoments in the story. It's a truly unique game in the way the story is told and I don't think it's told in the best way possible. However I appreciate what they tried to accomplish. The problem is that I didn't always feel the way I knew they wanted me to feel.

    To me this is a unique experience that made going through the game rough at times but I like to think of myself as en open-minded person and I've always wanted to play a game that featured a true anti-hero because I'm tired of all the games where you get to be the hero or villain. This is something else. You're neither the hero nor the villain. You're just going through the story of people in a world that's gone to sh*t. You may not agree with what happens in the story or you may not feel satisfied with the events in the story and I think this is where they tried to do a similar thing as they did in the first game in a different way and it just doesn't work the same way.

    *spoiler warning for the first game*
    At the end of the story Joel goes on a manic rampage instead or saving the human race and undoes everything you've been working towards the entire game and dooms the entire population by doing so. As a player you folow the story and have no say in the decision that Joel makes. Eventhough this rampage is completely immoral and unethical in every possible way, you understand where Joel is coming from because the entire game builds up to this moment and this is what makes the story of the first game so memorable.

    This time they tried to switch it around and try something unique and this makes your mind conflict with your feelings. It's a true experience of morality in it's greyest forms and a critical look at the cycle of violence. It's an ambitous project and it might not be for everyone. If you just want to feel like a badass hero saving the world and mindlessly blow up people without having to deal with the consequences, you should probably skip this game and play something else. There are a lot of games out there that do not deal with the darker side of violence and war.

    I can't help but feel like all games that tried this in the past have been criticized for pushing an agenda while also celebrating the violence they condemn. It might be very hypocritical for a game to do this, but by showing two sides of the coin you can actually nuance the celebration of violence and focus on the morality and meaning of it all. I think this games does exactly that and it might not always feel right or wrong, but I think that's part of the experience you'll have with this game.    … Expand

While the game never gives you any choice of what to do (just like first game), it doesn't serve up a simple picture either. It really forces you think, to consider for yourself what/who's right/wrong. It's an exhausting, but rewarding, storyline that would have made the creators of KOTOR 2 proud.

    The graphics are simply stunning, as good as it gets on the PS4. Especially the motion capture which really makes the character models come alive.

    Gameplay is mostly on par with the first game, though it's been enhanced. Still, more could have been done here to refine it. Gunfights are still a bit awkward.

    Overreliance on cutscenes and flashbacks. There were stretches of the game when things really got a bit tedious. I get what the devs are trying to convey with a certain cutscene of flashback gameplay sequence, but they really could just shorten it and let you get back to actually playing.

    Some of the mini-games (notably the ones involving a guitarr) were also a bit tedious.

    TLDR:
    This is one of the single greatest games, or even experiences, ever created. Seriously, you will not regret buying this game.

    Though if you're a bigot and you don't want any more nuance in your storylines then what you get in an episode of MLP, this game is probably not for you.    … Expand

    The graphics are immaculate. The gameplay is fine. There isn't anything beyond amazing here. It's good, but there isn't anything to rave over. The story is atrocious. There are a lot of plot holes and you can see where the writers had to write themselves into or out of a situation. Specific characters do things they wouldn't, but if they don't, there's no game. It's unfortunate.

I thoroughly enjoyed this game, start to finish, despite having a minor complaint regarding the ending. From stunning visuals to, in my opinion, a well thought out story line i struggle to see why the majority of reviews for this game are negative.
    I only have 2 complaints about this game: The positioning of Joel's death in the play through and the ending. However these are only minor complaints. Joel dies very early on in the play through which doesn't really give players enough time to reconnect with him as a character, which some say makes his death pointless (?). I replayed the first game prior to launch so i did not encounter this problem but i can see why it is an issue. However his death makes more and more sense as the story progresses and acts as Ellie's main driving force. Without the death of Joel, this game wouldn't make half as much sense. In terms of the ending, I feel it didn't provide enough closure in terms of the characters besides Ellie. Ellie's journey is closed off perfectly and having realized this much my issue with the ending is minor.
    All in all the issues with this game are minor and i think it is worthy of everyone who enjoyed the first game's time. I loved every second and everyone I know did also. Pick this game up!    … Expand

    Amazing game! All the hate before people even played it. Ignore it and play for yourself. If you were a fan of the first you will be a fan of this one

    Great game, very good storyline. Very coherent considering the whole philosophy of the world we know in that state, and with the gaming experience transmitted its message very clearly.

    It's so sad how this story continues. If we talk about level design it's basic, some animations are very badly done but in general, it's decent. Like most of the people, the biggest complaint is how they treated the story, there are lots of events that happened "because the script said it". I recommend this game if you don't care about the original idea of the first game: a freakingIt's so sad how this story continues.     The games story is a HUGE steaming pile of the worst smelling feces imaginable, and the shooting is still too clunky compared to part 1 being a total disappointment. I tried playing the game with a controller and my mouse a keyboard adapter (because i normally play PC) that work great with other games, but no matter what i did it still felt clunky. The worst part about this game is the way Sony and ND responded to the leaks and the people criticizing the game leaks was horrendous and unprofessional, not to mention the way they shove this LGBTQ and feminism "culture" as some people say in your face just ruined RUINED a good series! A message to sony and ND y'all lost a long time supporter, so this will be the last console i ever buy and don't expect another dime from me especially if it's another fake exclusive for ps4/ps5 cause we all know they'll port it to the next console for the buck$.… Expand

    Masterpiece. Hands down best game of 2020. Best gameplay of it genre and it takes all the mechanics of the first and improves them. Some of the Best if not the best graphics out there. Play this game don't be stupid and miss out.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. (Light spoilers) The gameplay, the characters, the graphics, and the visuals of the game were stellar. The first half had me on the edge of my seat story-wise as well, and I was so excited, and then we played 10 hours as Abby. Then, I saw all of the cheap ploys to try and make us like Abby and dislike Ellie. Have Ellie kill dogs and Abby pet them etc, but that doesn’t change the heart of each character. Just because a child calls Abby a good person doesn’t mean she is one. It shifts from a fantastic start to a bunch of cheap shots instead of quality writing. You can’t make an evil hearted villain and a sympathetic one all in one go like that. I saw what they were trying to do and can appreciate it, but it didn’t land properly. The game is better than average but doesn’t live up to it’s predecessor story-wise. It often reads like torture porn (I love angst fic and this exceeds the worst of what I’ve read in this field). I wish it was better, I really wanted it to be. The first half I was absolutely in love and then it just dipped, all the way to the less than stellar ending. I still enjoy the game. Some parts were so fantastic I’ll never forget them, and so I can’t drop the game in its entirety, but nonetheless I was a little disappointed. I do still suggest you play the game through on your own, but it’s not the masterpiece I was led to believe it was. 3/5 or 7/10… Expand

    Honestly this game is not for fans of the relationship between Joel and Ellie, this game totally destroys that and it changed it into something unrecognizable for The Last Of Us, Gameplay and Graphics amazing, but story is not worth the 7 years wait.

Sometimes i didnt want to play the game because it was stressful, but after beating the game it all made sense. They didn't want you to have this satisfying experience the whole game, they wanted it to be emotionally exhausting. And they accomplished that. Really raised the bar in terms of usingBeautiful game.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
