But, do not buy last of us 2 for full price or if at all . **** story, **** character development and the ending is bollocks. Joel dies in the first two hours, and it's an insult to the consumer. The infected got me with multiple jump scares. Being able to lay flat and other new perks were fun to use. Loved the explosive arrows. The story is unfortunately terrible. The trailers and even description of the game is deceiving. Due to bad storytelling and pacing issues I spent half the time feeling miserable and angry. The other half I enjoyed was due to gameplay and only when I played as Ellie. A good portion of the game is spent being the person who killed Joel. I do no care for Abby and after playing as her for half the game I still hate her character. Her story was pointless and was just to bring us back to where we were at 10 hours earlier in the story. I was super excited to play this for years and super disappointed when it ended. I will take the good parts to memory (ie Joel and Ellie flashback at the museum, gameplay etc) but forget the rest and NEVER play this game ever again. Thanks for making 2020 more unbearable than it already has been.… Expand

    The game it’s beautiful and the gameplay it’s never boring. The history it’s very controversial, but if you give it a try and look for the details you are going to get it. Maybe you would not like it, but you will be able to comprehend everything.

    I expected more knowledge about the virus, zombies, the pandemic of humans disappeared, the reason of ellies immunity and making a vaccine. But there is no mention about that anywhere. Its a big female drama. Transgender and female problems were tried to squeeze into a zombie apocoplyse, which wouldn't even matter for the story. The topic of revenge and violence has influenced the writers to much, that they ruined it for the player. Its not new, not fresh, it's the present picture of movies and series. It's sad they had to kill the franchise with that.
    Graphics: 10/10, looks like a PS5 game
    Gameplay: To much looting, but great combat improvment with dodges. Realistic reaction, AI is quite good, even as comrade.
    Sound: Super nice sound on the point. Maybe to quiet at some places, where nothing happens

    Overall gameplay, graphics and sound make the most out of this game. Many people worked on this and without the story, this is top game. Most annoying for me, they ignore the apocoplyse story completley.    … Expand

The amazing soundtrack, the graphics, the animation of the main characters and Yeess also the STORY!! I don't understand the hate, because I love Joel too but this is what IMERSION and good story telling looks like!

    For any person that calls themselves a gamer, and a fan of story telling, this game is a must. I haven’t left a review before but this game needs to be praised. I’ll be honest, I am not generally a fan of female protagonists in games. Stupid of me, but I find them mostly forced and in there just for the PC likes. This is not the case in this game, I had just as much fun playing as theFor any person that calls themselves a gamer, and a fan of story telling, this game is a must. This is not the case in this game, I had just as much fun playing as the females in this game as I did playing Kratos or Arthur Morgan, they were **** brutal. The graphics are the best I’ve ever seen in a game. I am a PC gamer first and foremost, and this tops RDR2 for me in that department. Easily the best character animations in gaming, just unreal. You can tell the hours that went into this, it’s extremely polished from top to bottom.

    The story threw me throughout and I enjoyed the multiple character aspect, particularly how it played into the story. I won’t spoil but I liked this story more than the first Last of Us.

    Gameplay was sick, lots of variation on how you can attack the encounters throughout. Just such a brutal game, having just come from playing God of War I was not suspecting this to make me react more than that with how cool and just **** up some of the kill animations are in this, particularly when I died. All in all, having played games for 20+ years now this game would comfortably sit in my top 5 comfortably alongside Red Dead 1, Assassins Creed 2, God of War and Witcher 3.    … Expand

    One of my favorite game titles, it was very good game how I expected, but the story isn´t for everyone, the gameplay is amazing, characters are written great and emotions works, thanks naughty dogs for a very good experience :)

    it have impressive graphic, a good melee combat system, but everything else kinda sucks.
    the story is forgettable and boring, no character is written good, and every aspect of the plot is disappointing.

    This game is beautiful!

    Game play is crisp excluding the dodge mechanic which needs work.

    Cons:
    Game doesn't let you play your way it forces you to sneak sometime while forcing you to flee others which is fine just not my style.

    Linear story could have been opened up more like the first area to allow more exploration and open world feeling.

    The story is terrible or at least half of the story, I have never played a game that seems like it was made by two completely different teams. Playing as Ellie is great, and Abby is a chore.

    The main mechanic is playing one side then the other when both are not equal in quality this does not work.

    TLDR: They missed the mark with this game, and it is only exacerbated by "game journalists" who refuse to give an unbiased review. I wanted to love this game however after over 20 hours I could not stand to play it any longer making this the first game I have ever traded in on release week.    … Expand

Probably the most beautifull game i ever looked at in my entire life of playing video games also the AI of the game was really really smart i have not played a game that ist AI is smarter than the last of us 2 and trust me i have played a lof of games.And seeing people rate this game 0 1 2 3 and even 4 is very disrespectful to me for all the years of work they put on this game. I didn't like all the new characters but Abby Lev and Dina where amazing and the very last cutsene where Ellie walks away from the farm it made me burst into tears.This game was a **** masterpiece i could rate it 100/10 if i could.     I finished The Last of Us 1 feeling like Joel had doomed humanity and was selfish, so the death of Joel did not surprise me, though it happening at the start of the game was a shock. However, what better would there be to ignite a story of revenge than killing a (controversially) beloved character right off the bat?

    My playthrough of this game was completely untainted by spoilers, and so when I discovered that you play things from Abby's perspective I was really impressed (it also explains why you play as her at the start).
    In my opinion, Abby had every right to go after Joel after what he did. Abby left Ellie and Tommy alive but Ellie had to go for revenge. Ellie killed hundreds of people to get to Abby, and Team Ellie managed to kill all of Abbys friends, including her ex lover. Ellie was in the wrong, but you don't realise it until it all unfolds in Abbys half of the game.

    Essentially this story shows you everyone being as bad as each other. You become invested in Ellies tribe at the start and have no empathy for anyone else. But when you are forced to become part of Abbys tribe and see things from her perspective, you begin to hate Ellies tribe instead and it's then that you realise what it is the writers are trying to communicate.

    I admit there are some minor plot holes and ridiculous decisions made by some characters, but I understand that these are there to set up crucial story moments, and can be mostly forgiven.

    The story is complex and it is hard to summarise well whilst doing it justice in a short review, but I implore you to ignore the review bombing circle jerk and give this game a go. It is excellent and the best of its kind.    … Expand

    Historia buena, pero inferior a lo esperado.
    No es satisfactoria.

    Como punto negativo destaco la segunda mitad del juego la cual se hace pesada. Te obligan a jugar 15 horas con Abby y si bien se logra empatizar con ella se echa en falta a Ellie.

Many people will be devastated playing this game and feel betrayed that the story didn't end up going the way they wanted but does that mean it's a bad story. No. The world in this game is a bleak and brutal world and the story has to be as well.
    A bold move by naughty dog to make you play as joels killer 'Abby' but throughout the her story you come to realise her life was destroyed because of joels and ellies actions, I for one loved playing as her and felt a deep sympathy for the amazing beefcake.
    The revenge feeling of ellie is great when you first start the campaign killing as many WLFs as you can but when it switches perspectives to Abbys point of view you realise you have been killing people with loved ones, the pain I felt realising I've killed dogs who have names and who you can play fetch with really broke my heart.
    By the end of the seattle storyline I didn't want to kill any WLF or Sephrarites because after hearing in game dialogue I came to feel sorry for them. As the game shows theres no real good guys or bad guys in this world, only people trying to survive and build communities.
    The end scene with joel and ellie trying to move on and start again really hit hard knowing Joel dies the following day and they never got the chance to start over, seeing joels voice crack when speaking to her really hurts. This is a story of revenge and how taking revenge puts you in a cycle of violence and a world full of hate which will only bring you nothing out of it for example abby killing joel leads to all of her friends dying and ellie trying to hunt down abby leads to friends dying her losing dina and the baby.
    The fight between ellie and abby at the end is a really tough one to play through because i love both characters and didn't want to see one kill the other and was relieved when ellie finally puts her revenge behind her and stops letting abby and lev leave and go.
    Don't be mad at having to play as a lesbian woman or a hulking woman cos both are very great characters, it's 2020 enjoy playing as women and grow up. Also about time a trans character makes an appearance in a video game, what a character lev is.
    Don't listen to the majority of negative reviews cos most gamers haven't even finished the game it's currently on 18% of people who have completed it so anyone who hasn't finished the story has no right to even write a review.
    Loved everything about the game, personally I preferred the first games story but the second games story is just as amazing and shouldn't be discredited because you didn't expect it to go your way. The last of us 2 really opens up the world and shows how a revenge story has consequences on the person enacting the revenge.

    The first game was perfect, you had a good game with a great history and the perfect ending, but now they Just improved the graphics, keeped the gameplay and made a sh**ty history that spits on the legacy of the first game. Its not that i only dislike the way things went with the campaign, but your history was straight up bad.

    Me parece un excelente juego, buen gameplay, graficas, pero le pongo un 0 porque se tiraron a la basura el legado de la parte 1, le debieron haber puesto otro nombre y me lo creo, un spinoff y me lo creo, pero que se hallan tirado la historia de esa manera no es algo bueno, me parece el colmo... para mi sería un 9.5 si fuese un juego con otro nombre

And in terms of Joel’s death, it isn’t a plot hole or bad writing. It’s literally the culmination of Joel growing older, and more peaceful while still having darkness in his past. Joel was a mass murderer and hardly a hero. All in all, TLOU2 is a great next step from the first installment and I can’t wait to see what Naughty Dog has next.… Expand

    The graphics are immaculate. The gameplay is fine. There isn't anything beyond amazing here. It's good, but there isn't anything to rave over. The story is atrocious. There are a lot of plot holes and you can see where the writers had to write themselves into or out of a situation. Specific characters do things they wouldn't, but if they don't, there's no game. It's unfortunate.

    Gran juego, dejando claro que el mundo de tlou es solo gris, no hay buenos ni malos. Respecto a las criticas, te puede gustar o no pero un 4.5???? Una cosa es opinar y otra cosa tirar odio como esta haciendo la mayoria, por mas que no te guste la historia no es para un 4.5 ni de casualidad este juego.

    That boldness of the story is something I love. Naughty Dog did not play it safe. I'll choose to avoid spoilers in my review, but they made narrative decisions that they knew would be divisive. They told a complex and emotionally challenging story. It asks a lot of the players to engage in this story and feel the feelings it provokes. It's dark, miserable, and traumatic in all the best ways.

    Unfortunately when some scenes of certain moments leaked without context it took away Naughty Dog's ability to control of the experience of those who saw them. While they expected some backlash from fans who played it, the backlash we have now is exacerbated and intensified by the months of stewing after spoilers before the release of the game. There are a large percentage of reviewers determined to hate and nitpick at any perceived fault. Don't let them persuade you. The game is masterfully executed and intentionally made. It may not be a story you like depending on your personal taste, but there is no denying it is art done well.

    Play for yourself. Come with an open mind and willingness to let the game tell the story it has to tell.    … Expand

While the game never gives you any choice of what to do (just like first game), it doesn't serve up a simple picture either. It really forces you think, to consider for yourself what/who's right/wrong. It's an exhausting, but rewarding, storyline that would have made the creators of KOTOR 2 proud.

    The graphics are simply stunning, as good as it gets on the PS4. Especially the motion capture which really makes the character models come alive.

    Gameplay is mostly on par with the first game, though it's been enhanced. Still, more could have been done here to refine it. Gunfights are still a bit awkward.

    Overreliance on cutscenes and flashbacks. There were stretches of the game when things really got a bit tedious. I get what the devs are trying to convey with a certain cutscene of flashback gameplay sequence, but they really could just shorten it and let you get back to actually playing.

    Some of the mini-games (notably the ones involving a guitarr) were also a bit tedious.

    TLDR:
    This is one of the single greatest games, or even experiences, ever created. Seriously, you will not regret buying this game.

    Though if you're a bigot and you don't want any more nuance in your storylines then what you get in an episode of MLP, this game is probably not for you.    … Expand

    Took me around 40 hours to complete the game. Played on Normal. However I'm the kind of guy who tries to collect everything. Either way what is obvious the game is done almost perfectly in the technical area. Actually I came just across 3 bugs - one time the light from the flashlight got disconnected from my character, needed to reload the game from the previous "checkpoint" and it went back to normal. The second bug was with the rope which came alive and was acting like a snake (really - I even recorded a video). The third bug was an NPC stuck because of my companion. Nothing too serious, especially that the game is long, so it's impossible to get rid of all the little bugs.

    However. At first I didn't know what's the buzz about and why do people hate this game. The progressive ideology seemed almost absent, these topics were very minor and acceptable, so it didn't destroy the experience. But then the last 5-6 hours happended and oh boy! It's like some sort of crusade, really. But that's just the cringe stuff - makes you pity-smile, but doesn't ruin your overall experience. So that's not the main problem.

    The problem are the plot holes, blank characters and really naive and stupid twists. The last parts of the game are so bad in matter of the story, choices, etc., that you just want to complete this game and forget it. What's funny though is that actually I liked the parts with Abby and have nothing against this character. The problem is in the story and in the fact that this game is boring-long and it spins the same loop all over again - cutscene, travel, shooting, collecting, and so on, and so on, and so on, dozens of times. Gets so repetitive after a few hours, especially that the locations (in the first 2/3 of the game) look mostly alike (devastated buildings) and the story is not motivating, so you get bored during cutscenes, you don't understand the motivations of the main characters, some things they do are pure nonsense and seem to be in the game just to make it longer. Yup, this game is way too long. The best parts in matter of gameplay are near the end, there's much more diversity and all the perks you acquired during your playthrough give you more opportunities during fights, so it's more fun. But only if you rate the gameplay, which still is far from perfect. While I like the visual diversity in the last parts of the game, I still don't fully like the combat system and the AI which is broken. You can go with the stealth approach and that's cool, but if the enemy spots you everyone runs towards you - all those contaminated just run at you almost without any strategy (yeah, their brains are rotten, I know), human NPCs on the other hand just act stupid. You can stay hidden in one place and kill like half of them, they will come at you one by one in the specific area, then you move to another cover and just wait to slash them, that's about it. And when there's chaos you just don't know what's happening. It gives you a feeling of randomness, many fights are like flipping a coin, you just get frustrated and your skill doesn't seem to matter. Some of the - let's call - bosses are almost impossible to kill, the game is not balanced perfectly (also seems that after a few failures with a "boss" the difficulty is being lowered, but that's just my opinion).

    Either way the story is very weak, near the end it gets cringy because of politics and some other stuff. The game is also way too long, should be much more condensed, especially the first 2/3 of the game. It just gets boring and frustrating - you think it's almost over and you get a few extra hours of gameplay. Sure, this would be great if you like the story, but as the story is bad and you don't feel connected to your characters, you're not motivated and you just have enough of all those really stupid and naive twists. If something that happens like 5 times in the game can still be called a twist, but whatever.

    Still, the game is not bad, but if you liked the 1st one there's a huge chance you'll be disappointed.

    I'm rating this product as a whole - not only the game, but also how Sony and ND is treating the gaming community. It's really the final call to change something, enough is enough. Censorship is bad. If you're tolerant, open, if you actually like other people and if you're for true diversification and acceptance, then accept the fact that someone can have a different opinion or views than you. That's real tolerance that you accept the fact that someone has opposite views! It's easy to tolerate people who share your own vision of the world, right? So, no to discrimination and censorship, yes to liberty of speech!

    And ND, please don't make a Part III. Just leave it as it is.    … Expand

I do not see a problem with the decisions and the story how it was made. Bigger problem is how it was written. It almost seems like a huge pile of mess laying on each other. Just as everyone I am not a big fan playing as the second main character (we all know what she has done) but I must say that it was much more cinematic and funnier experience then playing as Ellie(because playing as Ellie you play in bigger environments). The problem is that they want to make us sympathize us with this character but they do a **** work with that. Also I do not see a problem with the characters and the way they were written. Just the way the game presents them and the way how the developers wants you to see them. Like for instance the charachter that looks exactly the same way like directer Neil Druckmann looks like. This character is the way how I imagine a person that when you would saw them you would burn them to crisps if you would have the chance but the developers for some reason wants you to see him in a good light. Why? I do not know. No one knows. And the same goes for a lot of characters. The last thing is the ending and oh my god I have never seen so long ending since the RDR2 but you know what is the difference? In RDR2 the ending is 4 times longer but is much more satisfying than this. Over all I do not think this game deserves this reviews. I understand some of the complaints people have with the story but it doesn't deserve the level of hate it's getting, if you give this game a rating lower than 7 that is crazy for me but to each their own. This is a great game in every aspect, loved the gameplay, obviously the graphics and the art design are amazing, the music is perfect and the storytelling is so good it made me feel all kind of emotions and the story makes perfect sense after the event that happened at the end of the first one. The characters are great and complex, i loved Ellie and, after killing Joel i didn't think i would say this but, i loved Abby too and they made me feel for her and understand her motivation.
    The only complaint i have is that the ending is too depressing i would have preferred a more bittersweet ending, showing Ellie reuniting with Dina and JJ, and even tough i liked the last flashback it left me wanting more, like maybe having them play guitar together one last time would have been perfect. So that is why is not a 10/10 for me but it was really close to it and maybe after experiencing the story a second time knowing what happens it could get there.
    I am happy that i was able to experience this game. When i replay the first game killing the doctor at the end is going to feel so different.    … Expand

    Incredible! I avoided all spoilers and opinions online and played through the game. Was disapointed at the half-way mark when the game turns. But slowly started to understand more and more about the intertwined plot. By the end of the game, I felt emotions toward charcter motivations that no other media had ever provided.

    I enjoyed this game every bit of it i was one of the ones who didn't read the leaks. Because im a fan of this game, And my anticipation was high the facial animations and its graphically stunning. This is definitely a much more mature adult game then the first game i cant find nothing wrong with this game. i didn't run into any bugs it ran smoothly through out its runtime.

Graphics are good but other than that I would rather play fallout 76 than this. So sad because the first one was amazing and is one of my top five favorite games.

    O ápice da merda foi no final em quem a Ellie passa o jogo inteiro atrás de vingança pq uma NPC matou o protagonista do game anterior de forma horrível, a Ellie simplesmente deixa a vilã ir embora sem mais nem menos. Literalmente a mina espanca a namorada da Ellie grávida, mata o melhor amigo dela, quase mata o Tommy (que é um tio pra ela) e mata a pessoa que largou tudo pra cuidar dela como fosse a própria filha dele e ainda arranca dois dedos da Ellie, isso tudo e ela deixa a mina ir sem motivo algum.
    Além disso os personagens são mau desenvolvidos, eles morrem e nunca mais são citados, são completamente esquecidos.

Which by the sounds of some reviews, is a narrowminded, one-dimensional, unmotivated story. The game directer was right when he said that this game wouid be divisive. But the reviews outright hating on this game are people that simply can't handle tragedy and see past the fact that The Last Of Us, is no longer just about 2 characters, but many. People listen to much to others opinions and that sways their own. This game getting review bombed is just down-right disrespectful to all the devs that have worked relentlessly on this game. Incredibly stupid writing where characters keep making idiotic mistakes that cause people to die. Ellies and dinas relationship is creepy, theyre acting like 20years married couple even though theyre barely adults gives me the creeps, nothing wrong with them being lesbians.

    Joel dies in a very frustrating way and later half of the game you play as his killer as the game attempts to make her likable. They fail. Miserably. They even make you fight ellie as her. Why??? Nobody likes this she man.

    Revenge bad story, who very basic story. The ending is very bad. 1hr waste of time after which abby doesnt even die but instead ellie loses her gf, their baby, 2 of her fingers and she can no longer play the guitar which is something she enjoyed playing. What warranted this?? She saves abbys life and she gets punished for it. What a terrible ending. I get they were going for this bitter sweet deep ending but it just fails. Maybe had abby died in some satisfying manner it would have been bareable but they totally messed this up.

    Combat is the same as last game, slight improvements. Its fine, but it gets very tedious especially as the story doesnt hold interest so you get bored with it quick. Especially with having to play as abby for half of the game.

    What a disgraceful 2nd part to a phenomenal game.
    And critics think this is just as good if not better than the first? Who is taking these people seriously??    … Expand

    Siempre finales felices, venganzas terminadas satisfactorias,historias de un bueno y un malo con la victoria siempre del protagonista.

    Este juego muestra una cruda realidad, si, un personaje legendario puede morir a palos, pero eso es lo que lo hace más real y más humano. Abby también es humana, tenía sus razones es lo que intenta transmitir el juego.

    Ellie decide no acabar su venganza porque iba a intentar perdonar a una persona que literalmente había obligado a la humanidad a escoger un camino pedregoso y accidentado por amor.

    Abby perdono la vida dos veces a Ellie, porque también estaba intentando redimirse. Ellie no debía matar a Abby ya sirvió su venganza matando a sus amigos.

    Lo que quiero decir, es que la vida es así, una puta mierda y es lo que transmite esta historia. Un golpe de dura realidad en la frente, que nos haga caer en la cuenta de que todos somos personas con nuestras motivaciones,errores.
    Que la vida es injusta, muy compleja y que en ocasiones luchamos por causas que provocan más daño que bien.

    Por eso a pesar de algún agujero en el argumento(y alguna parte tediosa) este juego me parece excelente en todos los apartados,innovador, arriesgado. Se aha atrevido a hacer lo que ninguna serie,película,juego no ha querido probar por miedo más que justificado dado lo que le está ocurriendo a este.

    Romper los esquemas y darnos una historia,dura, cruel, injusta,compleja,sentimental,incongruente en ocasiones como la vida misma.    … Expand

    Que pasa, jugabilidad decente, apartado gráfica igual muy decente, pero hasta allí, un poco decepcionante en cuanto al desarrollo se tenían mejores espectativas, pensamos que era un juego pero resultó ser un largometraje de mal gusto

    Este juego es muy bueno es cuestión de gráficas y mecánicas son bastante buenas, como fan de la primera parte este me encantó igual, algunos aspectos de e su desenlace no, pero eso es lo que quiere mostrar está historia, una historia más humana y mostrando que la venganza es un ciclo en el que ambos personajes (Ellie y abby) terminan perdiendo muchas cosas por su venganza, en el primerEste juego es muy bueno es cuestión de gráficas y mecánicas son bastante buenas, como fan de la primera parte este me encantó igual, algunos aspectos de e su desenlace no, pero eso es lo que quiere mostrar está historia, una historia más humana y mostrando que la venganza es un ciclo en el que ambos personajes (Ellie y abby) terminan perdiendo muchas cosas por su venganza, en el primer juego se tocan temas de el amor y la compasion puede que esté sea uno de los factores por los cuales a tanta gente le gusta mucho ese juego, pero en este da un giro y toca temas como el oído y la venganza

    En mi opinión este es muy bueno y aunque no logra tener el mismo impacto que el primer juego es uno de los juegos con mejor historia que he jugado el año.    … Expand

That is so totally out of character for Joel. And force to play Abby. What a **** waste of time! I don't even like her. Why can't they just develop on Joel's and Ellie's relationship moving forward. This is **** story writing and ND needed 7 years to churn out this **** **** Don't waste your $$$$. There is no Last of Us WITHOUT JOEL!!!… Expand

    This game makes you feel like everything you have done was for nothing. There is no reward, or sense of enjoyment, you are just moving along through a story that you don't feel engaged with, because all the elements you cared about were replaced with whathever fitted the developers agenda, and rhe end of the gameyou just feel empty and feeling you wasted your time.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
