    I'm sorry I'm just not comfortable playing as a girl with biceps bigger than mine, that's just too much.
    Graphics are great, gameplay solid I guess, sound is amazing. this is a typical ND story driven game with 0 replay value, but the plot..... omg I don't wanna go there. Just play the first game and forget this one ever existed.

    Preface that Part one was my favorite game of all time. Gameplay not much improved since the previous one. The story got cheap kicks in early then lost me. It belongs with the 2nd Matrix movie on the list of things that should never have existed.

    On a technical level this game is good and deserves some praise for what was achieved both visually and in world design, never have I played something with the level of polish in it's technical systems and I give props to the developers for that. However the game is let down massively by uneven pacing, poor writing and mixed level design that really spoil what is on offer here.

    The elephant in the room: It's no secret that this game had big boots to fill and this series in particular lives on it's story which is in a word quite terrible. The plot has several prominent convenient and immersion breaking plot holes and conveniences that fail to really give a valid reason for it's existence. The characters are poor and do not reflect the excellent character building from the last game and almost deliberately seek to tear them down in a way that is hollow and unfulfilling. Some new characters are good but on the whole most are shallow and not likeable with little core to them that would build the empathy the game attempts. This game can be fun but it is massively overshadowed by this due to it's heavy story focus. There is a bold decision halfway through that makes little sense in how it was excuted. This game would score significantly higher (7-8) if the story was given a directors cut that interspersed the stories with each-other at the same time.

    Gameplay wise it's more refined and open but again suffers from poor pacing and some areas of really quite awful level design which appears to get worse as the title progressed. You can see at the beginning that they wanted to expand the scope but this is replaced later on by increasingly linear hallway type levels that don't expand the series in any meaningful way.

    Combat too is refined, but is more of the same and is not really improved beyond some elements of stealth and does little to further the genre.

    Sound is excellent, graphics are great. This on paper could have been a masterpiece but unfortunately it was executed poorly. It is not a bad game and it's not a masterpiece.

    I would recommend renting this or waiting for it to go on sale. If you do not like depressing content or really enjoyed the first for it's story I would probably give this a miss entirely.    … Expand

    This game obviously obviously had some big shoes to fill. I enjoyed TLOU1 despite it's boring gameplay because of the engaging story and well crafted atmosphere. This game however fails in almost all aspects, graphics being its only saving grace. In a way it, it is the perfect example of a modern triple A failure.
    It's very pretty to look at, but has little in the way of gameplay, as it almost plays itself. There is no choice, the game is linear from start to finish. It would've made a good movie if the story wasn't bad.
    Everyones favorite character is killed off, Ellies character is all over the place, making it obvious not even the writers knew what to do with her after killing Joel.
    One second she's mad, the other she's having some lesbian fun, then she goes back to a killing rampage in order to reach Abby, the main villain of this game, then after a small genocide she finally has the chance to kill her and she has a sudden change of heart. Maybe she decided some post apocalyptical netflix and chill with her girl friend would be a better way to pass the time?
    Oh and the game pulls the genius move half way to have you play as the villain, Abby.
    No one likes her, that was the point of her from the beginning. Create the most unlikeable villain possible and make a tired revenge story. Why force the players to play as her? so you can have catharsis when you kill yourself? it's just such a badly written game it feels like it was meant to fail from the start. No clever twists, no clever writing, no memorable lines, an amateurish, tasteless and awkward narrative. That's the story we get to accompany non existent gameplay.
    What a 60 dollar scam, I feel bad for those who bought it without knowing what they're in for.
    Oh and what's with the reviews for this game? it smells like foul play to me, early review copies in exchange for 10/10 ratings, maybe even bribes.

    Finished it and there is great, good, bad and absolutely terrible aspects. It's cobbled together like it was done by three different people and they never got to meet each other until the printing of the disc. It subverts expectation for the sake of it and the new main characters are weak as a B teir sci fi films background characters and while their at it have some of the worst and out ofFinished it and there is great, good, bad and absolutely terrible aspects. It doesn't stop there, the pacing is destroyed by the games otherwise amazing design (in levels and comat areas) and to offset this they add character switching yet this makes it worse because when your switching from character to character to flash back to "main" game and that main game switches from open areas to long linear areas to a mix of both and back and forth you loose all investment and your time spent feels like it's getting the middle finger. Horrible choices in the way it's all constructed, just horrid. I could go on with how bad the this story is and how badly it foes a diservice to the girst game and the fans but it's been said about twenty five thousand times in these reviews in twenty five thousand different ways all with a red number but I'll say one morr thing, this game has thee worst pacing in both story and progreasion I think I've ever experienced in a game, that mid game progression break is just bonkers.

    It's not all bad though, this game is near second to none in graphics on console or PC (barring RTX mods), a few stand up to it like RDR2 but that had a budget and dev team larger than God could provide. Ps4 Pro resolution is good only marred by a film grain effect that can be a bit jarring and HDR is well implemented. The Pro doesn't get too loud either, albiet a few moments in intense action does so.

    Animations are by far unmatched even compared to RDR2 and it keeps it's game speed here without being sluggish or actions taking a day and on that note the actions are amazing, the fluid combat and human enemy encounters are some of the best in gaming, I can't get over how good they and how boring old third person stealth games have actually become fun games comat wise and not only that but brilliant. There is some frame pacing issues and the FPS is pretty weak even for 30, Ai on my TV settings smoothed it out but the frame pacing continued.

    Gameplay moment to moment is pretty good (bar that awful pacing) but when you are looting and shooting and climbing and jumping it's a fun loop but again... pacing...horrid. Weapons and tools are fun and exploration is highly rewarding leading back into this which in turn makes the combat more fun, a masterwork in this regard but... pacing. The combat does vary from encounter to encounter and some are very bad while the human Ai does start to show it'a not all that great after a few encounters in.

    Sound is incredible and it's got that amazing 3D audio design that needs to be in more games, a headset is highly recommended. Voice acting ranges from oscar worthy to B film to phoned in depending on the character or if it's a cutscene or character banter.

    7/10 over all.

    5 for the story. 8 for the game if you ignore the story. I really wanna give it a 6 or 3 out of 5 stars but there is something about the quality here that helps it edge to a 7 yet I gave up caring about the story and tried my best to not question it after the half way point.    … Expand

    How the story is told generate instant and passionate Hatred of Abby and most players won't even want to finish the game because of this.

    This game should've started with Abby...
    Letting us grow her character creating some attachment to her and leading up to the moment
    she meets and kill Joel. Then moving on to Ellie wanting revenge for Joel's death.
    Not killing Abby in the end is also a big mistake and completely enrages most players.

    The game graphics and game mechanics are great but the story is the main issue here.
    Stop trying to subvert our expectations... We were expecting Ellie & Joel to win from the start....    … Expand

    The pertinence of Ellie's sexuality in a zombie game about murdering monsters is questionable in the first place, but when the game starts right off the bat beating the LGBT drum and placing so much emphasis on it, it raises questions about the motive.

    Joel is no longer the gruff, manly man he was in the first one. Naughty Dog has taken his balls,
    he is now a meek, timid, and emotionally expressive man who desperately kowtows to Ellie. He went from badass savage to senescent grandpa competing for his chosen childs attention. In the opening exposition, he plays a soft guitar song, singing passionately, exposing his inner turmoil and feelings.

    What the ****? I guess Joel has denounced his toxic masculinity. This is not the Joel fans have come to love. Joel in the first game was compelling explicitly because he was aloof and did not expose himself. As the ancient adage goes, SHOW dont tell. The first game showed us how Joel was tormented, non-verbally, through his actions. In Last of Us 2, he might as well stare at the camera and tell the audience directly; "I'm tortured, emotional and sad! Here, I've written a song about how much I need other people!"

    The narrative of Last of Us 2 would fall into the "culture war" category. It is, first and foremost, trying
    to change American culture by altering gender roles and perceptions of the human condition. I understand what they are trying to do. Men can expose feelings (often considered feminine) and women can kill and be tough (often considered masculine.) But these themes are woven into the story for woke purposes, in a contrived way rather than indirectly. There is no logical explanation for Joels sudden shift into sappy and emotional behavior.

    He suddenly transforms with no explanation between the two games. I dont wan't devs trying to curate my worldview, I don't want devs trying to nudge me towards a woke ideology. I just want devs to write a compelling story, a good game, and leave identitarian politics OUT.

    The game itself is superb quality. However, the narrative does a great disservice to fans. Woke/SJW themes aside, the drastic changes to Joel and throwing him under the bus by making Ellie the main protagonist is not something I'm happy with.    … Expand

    На счёт сюжета наверное я сейчас скажу то что лежит на поверхности, в TLOU2 вообще нет положительных персонажей с точки зрения морали и этики. Там все заслуживают смерти. НО у нас есть эмоциональная привязанность к персонажам и мы сами пытаемся оправдать их поступки. Вы наверное могли понять по запискам в игре что все те кто были "адекватными", умерли в первый год.     Unfortunately after 10 hrs in a 26 hrs of gameplay it does start become repetitive, I got such love for the first and I appreciate they wanted to create a single player experience lik the first but why are they trying to shove a narrative down our throat and not do anything truly different, the opportunity was there. This felt as a total let down for myself and others. BUT the story is pathetic how you can kill one of the most important character in just two hours after starting the game and apart from the way he dies, it is not even organically there were too many ways to write his death but they went for the most foolish and irrational, literally sent to trash everything they created in the first game. A este juego le doy 9.6 por que la verdad me gusto mucho solo que tiene problemas y uno de ello es muy grande como la muerte de joel su muerte esta mal escrita es super forzada y la verdad cuando la vi me quede decepcionado sin ganas de seguir jugando el juego pero despues segui ya que habia invertido ya mucho dinero por ese juego y la verdad lo demas me encanto hay otra parte de la historia que no me gusto mucho que fue un flashback de abby la parte de el acuario me aburrio pero en cuanto al personaje me gusto al principio la odie y al final me termino gustando de echo al principio de la campaña de ella estaba como okey esta bien pero ya denme a ellie quiero ya jugar con ellie despues se me paso y la campaña de abby me gusto muchisimo a excepcion de la escena que ya comente y ellie un personaje que me gustaba al final me termino callendo mal y las ultimas 7 horas del juego me encantaron encontre muchas emociones ahi es el juego que mas emociones me a sacado en cuanto al gameplay y los graficos es espectacular naughty dog hizo un gran trabajo ahi en conclusion me encanto el juego puede que hubiera estado a la altura de 1 pero por los errores que comente para mi no lo estuvo y la verdad lo recomiendo.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Sincerely, when you start the Last of Us 1, and watch trough Joe's story, the death of his daughter. The pain he had to endure, but then hope and destony knocked at his door, he had the opportunity to love and raise a new daughter , you fight fore her you teach her, you train her so she can survive in a difficult world, as a father, is such a powerful story. Definitely Joel would sacrifice all humanity just to save those precious feelings, just to save that single soul. Such a powerful message. I had been waiting for a sequel for so long, where I finally see Elie, find happiness, where she could have love and care, understanding , to find a family and start a new life away form the horrors of an apocalyptic world. Maybe with Joel as a father or as a friend. All the Hope's I had were simply crushed. Ellie is not nice, she is bitter, cynical and stupidly rebellious just like an annoying teenager who doesn't get what she is into. Very different from the self aware kid she was when she was younger, she is, by imposition, a lesser version of herself very emotionally dependant. Which is very contradictory to her abilities. Joel, who sacrificed humanity for her is just a bad memory, non important. The story concentrates in selling a Walking dead approach of multiple characters stories, but forget to be strong in the main ine. By weakening the main' storyline the only achieve shallowness. The lesbian relationship is so shallow and imposed, with no real motivation that just falls in annoying. The game play? Just doesn't Add anything new. But with more humans with different ways to be killed, which can be totally ignored if you just play your way through. You will be looking for materials and throwing Rick's, bottles and so in just as in the first game. And pressing the command to listen just as Joel and Ellie did in the first game. I dont really care about gameplay for this game, if only Ellie would have had the chance to have a good resolution or grownth as a character. This is just disheartening, sad, for all the fans who loved the first story, to see Ellie turned into an expression of what media wants: an enraged confused teenager who is mad about society..My advice? Buy the game when it gets to 20 dollars maybe in two months.… Expand

    A full agenda game, not only because Joel's end, but because the forced agenda related to the characters and not bringing nothing organic but forced to the game, a very sad way to end with a game that was amazing in it's time

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am torn about this game. Not because I don't know how to rate it myself, but based off the division I have read. I have trouble finding others that feel exactly how I feel on the details.

    Graphics: 10/10 - I think most agree on this
    Sound: 10/10
    Gameplay: 8/10 - I enjoy that combat is conservative so you don't get too tired of it. It did have some beautiful locations I enjoyed, but certainly wasn't perfect. But they did have a chance to give us more variation in enemies with the Scars that didn't really get fully utilized.
    Story: 6/10 - This is where I find it difficult to find other people who feel the same on all the details. The killing off of characters doesn't affect me. Like A Song of Fire & Ice, I feel like it's up to the authors on who and how they kill off. The voice acting and dialog, like Uncharted 4, are some of the most natural feeling pieces that make me feel sorrow for modern day films. It also makes me cringe at huge games like Fallout 4 because of how good it is.

    But the structure of the entire thing fails. I understand that many modern story writers have the urge to showcase both sides of a story, as throughout story history, it is relatively done quite rarely. But even with modern attempts, it obviously fails. A story is strong when it makes us feel for the motives of a character, so trying to showcase two sides always dilutes that. So then what is the purpose of trying to justify both sides of a conflict then? There might be good reasons, but LoU2 did not have a good one.

    Almost everyone who played this sequel played the first game. So we all played as Joel as he decided to save Ellie from the Fireflies. He had a sudden fear for Ellie's life, and decided that killing everyone in the building was the only way to do it, and that completely jived with his character. It was a terrible situation, but we all excepted it and moved on. You still had a feeling of foreshadow that told us his reckoning was coming, so I also excepted his terrible death. And the way it was showcased did an excellent job at making you hate Abby.

    Now there lies an incredible chasm of division with the fanbase. I don't hate the game because of how strong the female side was. I am completely unaffected by Ellie's love interest or how strong a character Abby was. But doing so well at making us hate Abby then making us play her a huge chunk of the game while trying to make us feel empathy for her completely fell flat because of it.

    I also don't feel that much hate for making us play almost half of the game as another character. It kind of sucks, since you just wanted to finish out Ellie's story. The flash backs also fell kind of flat on there face because of how much present-time story you wanted to see through, but to me, that was just something the storywriters of LoU2 wanted to experiment with. As I said, it failed, but I feel like it had decent intentions. I also feel like the LoU Universe doesn't necessarily belong only to Joel & Ellie, so I wasn't against seeing other stories. Like Uncharted, I am sad to think about that Universe ending and would be happy if they continued it with other characters. But we saw Nate's arc end, so I am now ready to move on. So LoU2 should have finished Joel & Ellie's arc before moving on. Even me trying to imagine it, I could have excepted a parallel story during this game, but not as an antagonist that the game did so well to make you hate right off the bat.

    Abby's story did a good job at making me care for Owen. You kind of felt bad for him, and he was enjoyable with his good humor and obvious desire to stop Abby from continuing the cycle of revenge that this game was obviously about. But he then does nothing to help stop it when you run into him as Ellie. So his and Mel's death was obviously his fault. Okay, not the direction I would have taken, but you then feel no empathy at having to kill them as Ellie. So why, then, make us play the second half of the game as Abby trying to make us feel shame for doing what we had to as Ellie? It's not like the game gave you a choice, which might of made me feel differently.

    So overall, I don't feel hate for another game that obviously tied to offer nothing but strong female leads instead of just trying to balance it out. I do feel strongly that the game did so well with creating a fantastic antagonist right of the bat, but then just shifts gears and tries to make you feel empathy whilst sacrificing the opportunity to finish out the story of the characters you grew to love in the first game *and* the entire first half of the game. If they made you play Abby's side as the first half of the game, it might have even changed things. I probably still would have disagreed with it, but just that shift may have helped. If the creators properly feel these criticisms, I would feel better and would support the next games, but I am disappointed in their responses so far.    … Expand

The Last Of Us 2 is a game faithful to the mechanics presented in the first game, but improved. The game is incredibly beautiful, with ultra realistic graphics, especially on the faces of the characters. Now about the history line, I can say that it is very good if you understand that the game is about people, and that people make mistakes, especially when they are moved by emotion or traumatized , and that in this game there are no hero characters or villains, do not play this game thinking that you will control a fair and innocent character. I think the lack of this notion brought all these bad reviews. So considering that, I belive there are two big mistakes in the script: first of all, the way Abby finds Joel pretty quickly in the same day they found Jackson it's very convenient, it didn't cost anything to spend a little more time and make this part more realistic. second: the time spent on Abby with the kids, I feel like they were only put in the game to make Abby look like a good person, and it makes sense because the game wants us to feel empathy with her, but I don't think we needed that much time to do so, they could include more of her relationship with her friends, more about her time with the fireflies. Last of all, the way Tommy treats Ellie and Dina when he comes with a clue about Abby doesn't fit the character and Ellie threatening Lev at the end to, even tho she was desperate and traumatized, I don't think Ellie would do that, just look at her reaction when she finds out she killed a pregnant woman.… Expand

    I could criticise that the start & finish to combat sequences are too certain. There's not much surprise encounters when looting etc. Game is like now it's fighting part and we shoot them and our characters says literally oh we killed all the guys and now it's looting part. It could be better if we were on the alarm all the time reflecting the environment. Not much a downside but yeah..

    I must say I didn't see any spoilers beforehand except the critical one at the beginning. When I finished the game, I was satisfied with my feelings and the journey I have been through.

    It slows down at times, feels too stretched. It lacks some quality and I must admit that it's somewhat disappointing. I'm not talking about like all the angry fans about creative decisions by writers, this is their story. They've chosen a story to tell and I liked it, just not as good as I expected.

    There could be other ways to continue our beloved duo's journey and it would be more appealing for the fans. They have chosen a a bold approach and I respect that.

    BTW, there's not much SJW thing to worry about. The things there are only adds to the story in a good way.

    Overall, this is definitely one of the best games of this generation and a MUST PLAY for all the gamers.    … Expand

    They forget that as a player at the wheel you should steer. Instead the story must go where it must go according to the directors and writers. This is a huge problem when your underlying message is violence begets more violence. You cannot condemn violence and talk about how bad it is while taking away player choice. As a result many of the plot points and climaxes fall flat on its ass.

    The game's biggest gimmick is how perspective changes your point of view. So if this fails to impress you, the game does very little except that. The impact is a literal "all your eggs in one basket".
    Speaking of climaxes, it's certainly a problem if you don't care for any of the characters. This point being subjective. Some will but I didn't. As a result I rather enjoyed playing as the infamous new character the game introduces.

    Throughout we don't get a say in what characters do. No option to kill A or spare B. Things just runs on rails. I thought I was clever in thinking that I would spare as many humans as I could via stealth, only to learn that certain doors won't unlock until hostiles are cleared. Literally forcing me to commit murder even though I got past all the threats non lethal.

    It's a stealth game. I dig it. I can appreciate that, but then you get RE:4 cabin sequences and it really doesn't make sense the rest of the game design considered. It's just frustrating and tedious. If you start a gunfight via poor judgment - then fair enough, but forced sequences don't work for this title.    … Expand

    It was until recently after finish another playing-through of the first game, I decided to finally give Part 2 a try, my opinion has completely changed after I'm done, and I feel sorry to have easily bought into the hate narrative without actually experiencing it.

    On paper, without context, the plot of this game can be "hate-able", the keyword here is "without context". Putting everything into the game's context and execution, it actually make sense. The characters are very well-written, they are human, they don't make optimal decisions, they are influenced by their human emotions. It is not an easy game to play, emotionally speaking. But it is an artistic piece to experience, you can tell that the team put lots of heart into crafting this game, it made me reflect, and think about the theme this game explored. That's what a good piece of artwork should do, to chanllenge and provoke.

    There are definitely moments where some characters' action feels off and out-of-character, those areas could be executed better, hence it's not a 10/10 for me. But the overall quality of this game is great.

    I recommend this game to people who are interested, whether you like it or hate it, it's a worth-experiencing game, the kind that we probably won't get many in the upcoming future, judging by how un-ready the audiences are at accepting something different.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To whoever read it: let me start by saying that (1) I am not a troll but a serious 35 yo gamer, (2) TLOU1 was one of my favorite games, (3) I have no problem at all with the LGBTQ+ community.
    This is literally the way of destroying one of the greatest games ever created (actually TLOU1 was recently voted as 'game of the decade').
    SPOILERS AHEAD! STOP NOW TO AVOID THEM!
    Let's see how to start with. The first game was loved by millions of gamers not because it was the scariest, deepest, post-apocalyptic game with flawless controls but because of its fresh and excellently delivered story. That's the very reason why it's still a game that you love to play and that's why it will always be a masterpiece.
    Let us write about TLOU2 now. I will demonstrate the positive comments first because to do so, I won't even have to waste more than a couple of lines:
    1. The point where the horse dies in the beginning is something that I wasn't expecting, it was fast, and I loved it.
    2. The Joel/ Ellie part in the museum proves the lost potential that the game had... It was the best part of it in my opinion.
    3. The scene where Ellie falls into the water with Jesse (while in the car) was really good too.
    4. Abby fights the best resident evil-type enemy that we have ever seen in a LOU game.
    5. The, covered in flames, battle between the Scars and wolves was visually stunning.
    And that's it!
    Negative ones:
    1. Joel dies like a dog; a death that, always in my opinion, being the protagonist of the first game and a beloved character of ours, didn't deserve. This is also done very very early; I might have understood if that was happening around the middle of the game.
    2. In multiple cases we see that Ellie has become a scared fragile little person. I really don't understand why the creators chose to do that. That was the last thing I was expecting from this character. Ellie was a 'catchy' character exactly because of that! She was a bad-ass 14 yo girl; that's the main reason why TLOU1 was different than all the other scary post-apocalyptic games. Let me prove my claim: Dina appears to be more bad-ass than Ellie having killed a person at 10 yo comparing to Ellie who did so at 14. I don't have to say much about Abby; she is by far more bad-ass that the scared version of Ellie we got in this game...
    3. I didn't feel any bond with ANY of the new poorly presented characters.
    4. I never got into the song that Joel sung to Ellie. First time that she played it was fine; the next ones though seemed that ND tried to force us to feel something about it... (That's how I felt it at least.)
    5. We can partially understand Abby's hate towards Joel but to play with her?! Spend around half of the entire game to play with the most hated character that we have ever seen in the game? And go after Ellie too with her? No. That was just too much and I was forced to do that. From the moment I started playing with Abby, about who I didn't care at all, I was wishing for the game to end. But then I was getting more moves/ expansions/ weapons for her and I knew that I had to play more and more. I hated this part deep into my guts. My solution to that would be to play some (most?) of Abby's part BEFORE she killed Joel. I think that like that it would have been easier for the players to digest Abby's character as being the second main one.
    6. Each character had too many problems and conflicts and in the end I was emotionally drowned by that (Ellie vs Abby, Abby vs Mel, Ellie vs Dina, Dina vs Tommy, etc).
    7. Even though I saw that ND considers of creating a third LOU game, I think that LOU2 should have been finished at the house where we first see JJ. What follows (which is just a couple more hours) could have been fully developed in a third game (with Fireflies etc). It feels that they 'burned' the idea of Rattlers.
    8. This is a general comment about ND. I find it EXTREMELY misleading to the point that people might actually be able to sue ND that they altered the trailer of the game to show something that DOESN'T represent the game itself. Pay attention here. I am not talking about copy pasting different parts to alter the story so you have surprises when you play it. I am talking about putting Joel in the trailer to trick us that he actually accompanies Ellie in the adventure. Because of that alone I think that ND is the dirtiest video game company ever.
    9. What a horrible end... Everything was in vain. The people Ellie lost, the people she put in danger, just to let Abby go and for what? She felt bad for her because of her condition? She saw her as Joel and Lev as herself been protected by Joel?
    10. Awful story... What a pity; I am not pissed, honestly. I am as sad I can be for this game, which I was expecting for the past more than 5.5 years (since my last replay of LOU1 on PS4) with excitement...
    I played LOU1 on PS3 and then again on PS4 and I'll definitely play it yet again sometime in the future. I will not play LOU2 ever again though...    … Expand

    No point in comparing this to any expectations or the prequel. On its own TLOU2 is an experience all on its own and while the story might have its critics - to not experience it to judge for yourself would be an absolute travesty.

Overall tho I still had a blast ( for the most part) playing this especially the earl sections. A lot of heart and love went into this. It starts out solid, and remains so throughout it's first chapter, but following that it wanes in quality and becomes unsatisfying and at times, very pretentious.

    Last of Us II is sequel to an amazing game, that was always going to be hard to follow. In gameplay it certainly does not disappoint; it's faster, more versatile, more dynamic. The story however, is a massive step down in quality - and I sincerely mean whether you liked the direction they chose or not. I didn't; but I can respect their choice. What I don't like is simply the broken structure. Really bad.

    My last note on this: I am definitely going to play Last of Us again. I do not know if I'll ever play LoU II again. The story gives me nothing but grief (in a bad way) and while the gameplay is really good, it's not good enough to carry it for so many hours as the game takes to complete.    … Expand

Naughty Dog really hit it out of the park as far as graphics, character movement, and attention to detail. It truly is one of the very best games I've ever played. The only real critique I have is they do push a certain narrative that kind of distracts from the reality. But it never got tooStarting out I was immediately amazed at the world around. The detail is nothing short of stunning. Naughty Dog really hit it out of the park as far as graphics, character movement, and attention to detail. It truly is one of the very best games I've ever played. The only real critique I have is they do push a certain narrative that kind of distracts from the reality. But it never got too pushy or over the top. I really liked Elle the actress is superb for sure. But it was Abby that truly took it for me, she made me feel so bad for her. By the end I was hating Elle! I really felt like her and Joel were very well explained, though we have known and loved them. They are definitely not good guys. I really enjoyed this story. Much better than most big budget movies. This game kind of drags on. At one point I thought it was the ending but it kept going for many more hours. A true Masterpiece, not without it's narrative flaws. But other than a tiny hiccup I believe it is one of the best games of all time! Highly recommend.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I just finished the game and I think it was awesome. I enjoyed the characters and the story. And I thought it was great to be able to play the "bad girl" too. I also enjoyed the violence and the fact that revenge lead nowhere in the end.

    The only story part I did not like was that Lev acted like a child and indirectly killed his mother and sister. It was like in those movies where you bring in a stupid character that does stupid things so that the story gets interesting.

    I hope the producers and devs do not get discouraged by the bad user reviews to create more such ambivalent and mature games.    … Expand

И в это сложно ,и многим не хочется поверить, но в этом и была задумка игры. Все неоднозначные события и задумывались неоднозначными и вызывающими раздражение. Через это раздражение и происходит главное эмоциональное вовлечение в игру. Нилу Дракману получилось сделать очень интересную игру по своей драматургической концепции, она сложна в понимании, она сложна в эмоциональном спектре, который должен прочувствовать игрок. Каждый, кто просто играл вовлечено и вдумчиво, стараясь эмпанировать героям, получит от всей игры огромное количество эмоций, а под конец будет сидеть до конца титров с раздумьями над темами, поднятыми в игре. Моя оценка 10 баллов, хотя я бы все же поставил 9.5. Как по мне игра затянута во многих моментах. Возможно нужно было больше времени дать Эбби, меньше Элли вначале. Так же по мелочам в игре есть косяки,как технические, так и геймплейные, но о них говорить слишком долго и они незначительны.. Эта игра на совершенно ином уровне, чем все другие игры, разве только RDR2 и Uncharted 4 от той же студии могут с ней сравниться. И я рад что есть такие игры!… Expand

I had looked forward to playing this belowed character again, and was instead forced to play his despicable murderer, which I hated so much I just couldn't take it. I wanted to blow this disgusting character up with a shotgun, not play her/him, wasn't it supposed to be about revenge? Life is too short for this **** I logged off in disgust and deleted the game.     I just can't believe this game would be so bad after the first one was so good. Terrible characters and awful writing. The story is so bad and political ideology is pushed, rather than a satisfying story. Also Abby is such a unrealistic character and she makes zero sense. The only thing I enjoyed was the graphics.

I knew Joel was going to die months before the official announcement. but TWO HOURS!? in the game and in such a kick in the face way of the part 1 Fans? So the Game is around 25 Hours game play give or take for the Normal difficulty. Now I will say the graphics are absolutely beautiful the combat is very similar to part 1 ( which is fine ) but a little clunky its nothing much upgraded as they said.

    So the first half of the game is playing as Ellie with Dina for most of it out on a mission for JUSTICE for the brutal torture and murder of Joel by Abby encountering much more of the WLF than infected, despite the hordes you see throughout.

    Ellie begins avenging Joel by taking out the people who where apart of Abby's group, now it is getting slightly fatiguing with all these new characters coming into the game. There was absolutely no connection with these new characters in part 2 in comparison to the connection with Joel and Ellie in the first game you genuinely felt the bond.

    So fast forward through the first half of the story as Ellie, you stay in a Theatre with Dina and then soon to be joined by Tommy and Jesse. Abby jumps Tommy, ellie and jesse run out, Jesse instantly killed with a bullet to the head then a tense stand off between Abby and Ellie cutting to black with abby aiming her gun at ellie.

    2nd half of the Story you play as Abby, which is drawn out WAY TOO LONG, i was hoping it would be a compressed part like left behind in part 1, but no you play about 13-15 hours as Abby? you get some insight and backstory about her which i did not sympathise with her at all. It was really draining me playing as abby rushing through combat areas just to finish this day 1-3 as her ASAP. finally seeing it through hoping there would be some relief back at the Theatre. Tommy distracting abby for Ellie to make an escape but Tommy seemingly killed and I say out loud "of course you kill Tommy too" but to my disgust you CONTINUE PLAYING AS ABBY and HUNT DOWN ELLIE BEATING HER MULTIPLE TIMES.

    Ranting on way too long here but dina and ellie dont day die to Lev questioning Abby, fast forward Lev and Abby are searching for fire-flies that have reformed SO YOU PLAY MORE AS ABBY SIGH. they get captured by a faction called The Rattlers. swaps back to Ellie and Dina on a Farm which is drawn out a bit too long and fatiguing which i initially thought this would be the end game of them just at the farm with Jesses baby. Nope Ellie must end this. Ellie tracks down The Rattler base finds Abby they fight on the beach Abby biting ellies hand off and Abby is on deaths door then a flash back of joel playing guitar makes Ellie spare her all for nothing,

    Joels death all in vain. Ellie returns to an empty farm as dina left, she attempts to play guitar but cannot without her missing fingers and it finishes ellie leaving the farm. This game is a complete blow to the Original fans and disrespect to the original characters. I wont play this again its left such a bad taste and I went into this game with very low expectations still I am disgusted as to how this Story and game turned out, i Regret buying the $300 edition. Game was uninstalled the next day from my ps4, i have put away my ellie statue and anything part 2 related because i do not wish to see the reminder of such disrespect and how out of character the original characters where. Naughty Dog are not one of my favourite Game Devs any longer. It should have ended of Part 1 and part 1 ONLY. ( not to mention the scars, wouldnt they way they communicate draw in infected?)

    ( The ones truly outraged are the real Last of us Fans, not just these people who call it all out as hate and are just blindly praising regardless of how potentially terrible and disappointing it can be )

    A história do jogo é muito bem contada, e sem pontas soltas e a imersão criada nesse jogo através da    O The Last of Us foi uma obra prima em 2013, assim como diversos outros jogos da Naughty Dog. E The Last of Us Part 2 honra do primeiro em tudo, tudo que existe no primeiro foi melhorado nesse. Ele é um game fantástico em termos de game play e história, a narrativa é algo épico.

    A história do jogo é muito bem contada, e sem pontas soltas e a imersão criada nesse jogo através da narrativas, cenários, inimigos e trilha sonora complementa o sentimento que esta imerso no jogo e deve ser algo a ser seguido nas próximas gerações!

    Minha recomendação é para pessoas com mente aberta e maduras, que tolerem o gore, porque ele esta bastante presente no jogo, mas a violência não é forçada, ela existe dentro daquele contexto porque a história leva a esse ponto. E sobre as críticas a homossexualidade, religião, aborto, drogas, etc, não influenciam na narrativa, são temas que estão presentes mas como pano de fundo, é apenas um background que faz parte dentro do contexto social, e não como agenda política como pessoas ignorantes e com mente fechada para novas experiências não foram capazes de absorver o melhor desse jogo, meus parabéns a Naughty Dog e espero novos games com a mesma imersão e qualidade!    … Expand

    Sadly though, they have been let down completely by the writers.

    TLOU2 should not be considered, by any TLOU fan, a sequel. The writers have completely and utterly destroyed everything that you learned to love in the first game. I don't care about character's sexual orientation - that personally isn't something that is on my radar, or something I'd care about; love who you love and all that.

    But the game is pointless due to its story - rather than create a worthy successor to the first, ND have put forward a nonsensical and boring story - and let's no mention the numerous misleading pieces before released; making it seem that Joel will be in it. I wouldn't be surprised if there will be a huge influx of refund requests to this alone.

    I tried to laugh off all the comments about the 10/10 reviews being "paid off" - but you really start to wonder if there is some truth to this, the further you get into this game.

    As a die hard TLOU fan, I cannot recommend this game at all - just keep on walking folks, let the ending of TLOU be the end.    … Expand

You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

    If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
