    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The reason that I am giving this a rating of 5/10, is because of the story alone. I really enjoyed the game play and the graphics though. Coming from The Last Of Us, we were not expecting a Part 2, but here we are 7 years later and oh my god. So as I stated, the story is not very good. I know where they were trying to go, but they went about it the wrong way. Not only did they kill off a beloved character (one of the MAIN characters may I add) they didn't even have Ellie kill Abbey. As well as having us play as the killer of JOEL! And they try to make you feel sorry for her! Naughty dog even MISLEAD all the fans of the game by inserting Joel into roles that HE IS NOT IN! Now, I understood about the whole "ending the cycle" of non-stop killing. When you read these reviews on websites about the whole "these people are homophobic or they are incels" and the list goes on. NO! This is not the case for everyone. I have played the ENTIRE game through and i had no issue with LGBT. Most people are negative bombing the game without playing it, and just solely giving reviews on the leaks they see, or they are just agreeing with people who have a bigger following. I actually applaud naughty dog for doing this, BUT DO NOT call the people who don't like the game homophobic, trans-phobic, incels and etc. It just shows how immature these sites are.

    So all in all, It isn't a bad game. Bad story? YES. Good graphics? YES. But we are not allowed to hate the games story without the name calling. It has to stop!

    A great part 2 to a great franchise but overstays its welcome with bloated sequences and padding galore. Opportunity to end in a number of occasions which I feel would have been a more satisfying ending however would not have changed my rating.

    The gameplay is good but not a big enough change to make it stand out. Graphics are great with a big jump from TLOU1. But the bad review from this comes down to the decisions made with the story. The decisions made destroyed what made the first game amazing and I believe the decisions made were not the right ones.

    Last of us part 2 is a great addition to the playstation family with a very thought out story that challenges your thinking, challenges your loyalties and shows you in the last of us universe, each action could have a painful consequence. Great gameplay, great graphic and a very intriguing story.

This game starts off with a memory of joel and ellie after the events of the first game, and will end many years later, but the game in general will have a lot to show that might be questionable to some fans and will sit firm with some. After the game starts, you immediately feel the world and the characters, the combat feels nice and smooth and will change through difficulty, but the main focus here is the storyline, the storyline was intriguing and depressing but still interesting in a good way. This game wants to show us the amount of work and pressure was put into it, and the developers delivered the game will definitely go down in history for killing off a character other companies wouldn't dare to touch, joel sadly gets beaten by a golf club, but this will become the main story for the rest of the game, the story is hard to understand but if you take the time and really understand it you realize, everything comes together even if you might not like abby she will still become a relevant character that gets misunderstood because so many people think joel is a badass and untouchable, and although we think he is great, he would probably go down as the worst man in history because of his selfishness, joel ultimately gets killed by someone who wants a eye for an eye, and even to end this will be obvios and contributes to the story. Characters are as lovable as ever and will mostly be different which adds diversity and uniqueness to the game and im definitely going back in for another playthrough to see if i find new details on them. The combat doesn't get to much added but it still manages to feel more diverse and vast, but the gun combat will sometime feel just off but it usually doesn't matter because it goes back to its great gun combat almost immediately and stops the awkwardness. Overall The last of us part 2 will go down in history as a great sequel, and will not be doubted until you play the game for your self, but if you dont like the game its okay, thats just life… Expand

Ellie killed many people to get to Abby for nothing. Jesse died just to leave his child for the ladies, but Dina disappeared at the end so even uninteresting and unimportant Jesse died for nothing. And apparently, for Neil Druckmann, sexual orientation of the characters are more important than their personality. I lost my interest in the upcoming HBO show too.… Expand

    This game really increases the drama and tension. The story is great and the gameplay is better than the first one. Graphics are amazing. So much to look at and explore. Don’t listen to the negative reviews. Haters are going to hate.

    Beautifully nuanced writing is the staple yet again albeit with a brash way of conveying it. Despite wavering at times, it’s sense of overbearing morality stems through characters, story and outlook on life. Gameplay however lacks variety and affairs meander way too long to the point it forgets it’s a Video Game.

    El juego es bueno, aunque es tedioso que tenga tantas horas de gameplay, tampoco me agrada la idea de que me obliguen a jugar con un personaje que me cae pésimo, sólo para intentar empatizar con él. La jugabilidad está anticuada, pero los gráficos son fantásticos, y la historia estará mal narrada para quienes simplemente se pongan a jugar, y no presten atención ni quieran analizar el por qué de cada acción. Podría estar mejor narrada, y desarrollada para esos jugadores casuales.

    Fantastic game and story. Powerful, emotional, and thought provoking. Definitely a case of you should play before giving an opinion unless you don't like violence then that's ok if you don't wanna play, but not "I heard something happens that I don't like so F this game. No one play it! It's awful even though I have no context!"

    This must be one of the best game i ever played in my life, way better than the first.... I really don’t understand the toxicity of the hater, or maybe they haven’t played this master piece....I hope metacritic create a verification option to only let the people actually play the game can rate this.

Если представить обычную гетеросексуальную пару, то они так себя и вели, так что обвинять эту игру в пропаганде ЛГБТ - бред. А вот с феминизмом другие дела. Его тут много. Ладно главный герой - это женщина, ладно даже два главных героя - женщины, но то что Naughty Dog сделали с Эбби - это полный п****ц. Перекачанное некрасивое нечто. Конечно не все девушки должны быть красавицами, но это, это перебор. У Элли же с внешностью всё в порядке. Но феминизм проявляется не только во внешности, но и в геймплее. Маленькая, практически беззащитная Элли, превратилась в машину для убийств, для которой нет преград. То же самое и с Эбби, но тут и так понятно, что это терминатор. А теперь разберём сюжет. Он здесь неоднозначный: одни говорят, что это шедевр, другие - что историю слили и сюжет г*вно. Кто же всё таки прав? С первого взгляда сюжет и правда такой себе, я ожидал что-то другое. Но когда ты начинаешь копаться в нём, добираешься до его посыла, до смысла сюжета, ты понимаешь: это ведь реально шедевр. Сюжет о девочке, которая в погоне за справедливостью потеряла всё. Эта игра учит нас тому, к чему может привести насилие, тому, что в погоне за своими желаниями, ты можешь потерять многое, если не всё. Многим не понравился сюжетный момент с Эбби, ведь это по сути главный антагонист, который убил полюбившимся многим Джоэла. Но это было необходимо. Таким образом разработчики хотели показать, что нет плохих или хороших людей. Играя за Эбби мы делаем много хороших поступков, а играя за Элли - много плохих. И уже с одной стороны персонаж плохой, а с другой - хороший. Также много негатива вылилось из-за концовки, где Элли, жертвуя всем, просто отпускает Эбби, хотя уже её фактически победила. Мне самому это не очень понравилось, лучше бы Элли её убила и потеряла всё. По итогу она и не отомстила, и при это ещё и потеряла свою любовь, друзей и два пальца. Но даже такую концовку модно оправдать. Элли считала, что в её кошмарах и мучениях из-за смерти Джоэла виновата Эбби, и вообще по логике это так, ведь она убила его. Но в одном из флешбеков Элли узнаёт, что Джоэл наврал ей в конце первой части The Last of Us, из-за чего смотри на него обижается. По итогу она не успела при жизни простить его. В конце же она поняла из-за чего эти кошмары, из-за того, что она не успела простить Джоэла, а не из-за того, что его убили, и она отпускает Эбби. Цитата: «Элли мучали кошмары и она думала, что это из-за Эбби, но когда она топила её, то поняла, что дело в том, что она не простила Джоэла во время жизни». Игра даёт почву для размышлений, так что пусть каждый думает сам, что значит эта концовка и игра в целом.… Expand

    it's just straight up stupid, the whole game is a joke. It's more like you made it without thinking a single bit. Some scenes are so out of context and cringey. Surprise it's been 7 years, and there is no improvement at all, just backwards. It is just too ridiculous to watch. I'll give it a -1/10.

    - Le jeu a quelques bug (perso j'ai eu : corde qui disparaît et perso qui bug) cela reste rare quand même

    - Musique de Gustavo moins présente et c'est dommage vue la qualité de ces musique

    Point Positif :

    - J'aime beaucoup le gameplay, il et sympa et il a était améliorée (exemple : Ellie peut grimper plus facilement, elle peut ce coucher au sol, se mettre en dessous des voiture, ce cacher sous les hautes herbes, etc... Pareil pour Abby aussi bien évidemment) bref y'a plusieurs possibilités de tuer des ennemi aussi (soit on fonce dans le tas soit on fait discrètement) on peut jouer a notre manière et explorer les environs que ce soit des bâtiments etc... On peut améliorer nos arme grâce a se qu'on ramasse ou bien on peut confectionner tout sorte de chose (soins, cocktail motolvo, surin, flèche, etc...) et j'aime beaucoup ce système de jeu, enfin bref perso j'adore le gameplay qui et réaliste et sympa

    - Les graphisme. J'aime beaucoup il sont magnifique et très bien fait, Les développer ce sont inspiré de la vrai ville et ça prouve qu'il essaye toujours d'être le plus réaliste possible (c'est pas nouveau mais c'est réaliste) on voit vraiment qu'on ai dans un jeu post-apocalyptique grâce a la végétation sur les bâtiment et les routes effondré bref pour moi (donc mon avis a moi) c'est le plus beau jeu graphiquement

    - Les personnages, je trouve déjà que le personnage de Abby et très bien réalisé, ceux qui on jouer au jeu jusqu'au bout savent que Abby et une personne bien (même si je l'aime toujours pas personnellement) mais je l'aime plus qu'au début du jeu en tout cas. Pour Ellie et Dina, je trouve que c'est le meilleur duo du jeu et les seul moment réconfortant dans le jeu c'est des cinématiques entre elles, leur relation et magnifique du début a la fin, on voit vraiment qu'elle s'aime etc... Bref j'adore leur relation.Bref j'aime beaucoup les personnage, ils sont tous bien écrit je trouve

    - Ensuite j'aime beaucoup le faites que Naugthy Dog nous ai fait jouer Abby car son point de vue et intéressent après je peut tout a fait comprendre que certains n'ont pas aimer la jouer mais personnellement au début j'étais un peu énervé de la jouer mais plus on la joue plus on l'aime bien et on la comprend, perso j'ai aimer.

    - L'histoire du jeu ma ému, perso je comprend pas vraiment pourquoi certains n'aime pas le scénario parce que je le trouve incroyables (après chacun son avis hein) , cette histoire de vengeance et bien écrit et super bien fait, j'avais peur de ne pas aimer mais au final j'ai apprécié...

    - etc... (je peut pas tout mettre ;-;)

    Bref voilà mon avis et le jeu mérite 9/10 (mais la faut monter la note mdrr c'est pas possible sinon) pour ma part, si vous aimer les jeu post-apocalyptique avec de la violence et avec un scénario qui se base sur la vengeance (je conseil d'abord de regarder ou jouer le 1 bien évidemment) Foncer et vous aller aimer sans aucun doute.Bref perso c'est le jeu le plus beau et incroyable que j'ai jamais jouer, pour moi il dépasse largement le 1er

    perso ceci et mon avis personnelle et je croirais seulement en mon avis et même que vous y croient ou pas peut importe, je veux juste donner mon avis sur ce jeu car ce jeu va me marquer a vie ...

I found myself fighting against the game itself more than the enemies in the game. The writing of the game felt a lot like a GoT season 8. The further you got, the worse the writing got. But this game single handily ruined the last of us franchise and spat on the gamers who loved the first one so much. We had to see Joel who was the main character we were all so emotionally invested in get beaten to death in the first 2 hours of the game and then play half of the game with the testosterone boosted Abby who killed him. This game tried way too hard to focus on female empowerment instead of giving the community what we wanted and that was a masterpiece like the first Last of Us game where the story telling was based on a strong , caring Joel and his growing relationship with this girl Ellie who he was meant to smuggle across the country to save the world but instead saves her when he realizes that the fireflies were going to kill her. Naughty Dog butchered an amazing franchise and a game that had the potential to be game of the decade but failed to focus on their community. I’m heartbroken...… Expand

    Ok, my expectations for this game were very high, and there's a lot to say, but I will keep this short.

    The gameplay is very similar to the first game, but it is tense and it is nerve wracking. I played on Moderate difficulty and it was never too easy or too difficult, but I had to either scavenge for ammo or be very stealthy if I wanted to have a fighting chance. The sound design is    Ok, my expectations for this game were very high, and there's a lot to say, but I will keep this short.

    The sound design is perfect. No more to say. Play this game with headphones on.

    Now the story seems to be the thing most negative reviews focus on, so hear this. This game is very dark. It is by no means a feel good game, and it never claims or tries to be. It will make you feel sad, it will make you feel very angry, and it will make you fell confused at times. This is not some brainless story where the hero is always right and the villain is always wrong, and hero beats villain and lives happily ever after. This game deals with morality, forgiveness, anger, and regret. I will say it again, it is not supposed to make you feel happy. You are not supposed to like all the characters, they are not perfect people and they do very bad things, but also some very good things. The ending is a lot like the ending of an art movie, it leaves a lot of things for you to think about and debate with yourself about. I will say this once more and stop writing. It is not meant to make you happy and satisfied. If this game makes you talk and debate about it, then it probably made you feel how the devs wanted you to. And I think that is absolutely perfect.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I loved the game while we played as Ellie. The fact that she is gay actually makes the story better; more unique and original. But when we have to play as a character that kills our beloved character Joel, the game goes downhill instantly. They try, we cannot sympathize with Abby. She is a terrible person and we hate her. The fact that have to fight Ellie as Abby made me really sad. It was torture, like beating up one of your closest friends. And we don't get to kill Abby, which is absurd. They know that we wanted that, why didn't they give it to us? It's not the fact that Joel died, it's how he died. Brutally murdered and tortured. The people that like this game didn't appreciate and respect the first one enough. And the fact that Ellie loses her fingers and cannot play the song she wrote for Joel at the end, is heartbreaking. That was the only thing she had left of Joel; the guitar. At the end, Ellie is left with nothing. Her girlfriend and JJ are gone, and she cannot even play the guitar. Waited so long for this game. Such a sad, sad disappointment. I could go on, but I've ranted enough already earlier today. Please, if you love Ellie and Joel as characters, DO NOT play this game.… Expand

    There is no game like this. Graphics, sound and gameplay is one of the best of this generation. But the story telling is taken to a level which is rarely achieved even in movies.

    The story on the other hand is very poorly written, the Abby started at the most tense moment and every hour that passed it took me away from the main Ellie revenge story and started focusing on little things that didn't feel relevant to the general plot. All the characters suddenly die and it just feels like a Game of Thrones episode when you can't really connect with anyone because you know that no one really matters at the end.

    Also i didn't understood how Dina discovered her pregnancy and lost the ability to walk but the Abby side pregnant lady had a full baby inside and all just agreed to send her on a mission that made her die    … Expand

While I do think some people truly are acting in bad faith, there are legitimate criticisms of this game. The best way I can put this is with the first game, the gameplay takes a back seat to the narrative. With this game the narrative takes a backseat to the gameplay.     An emotional roller coaster.
    I love when creators take ideas in different directions even if it involves great risk. I truly believe that it worked here. Instead of going a traditional route and making Joel and Ellie go out as heroes it puts a twist on everything.     Pros:
    -insanely good graphics
    -Runs very smoothly with me havent had an issue with it
    -although gameplay zombie wise gets a little stale but overall it was good

    Cons:
    -Incredibly unfulfilling story
    -Game fills your throat with feminism and lgbtq stuff and stomps on your face until you swallow it
    -The game feels more like a political argument than an actual enjoyable game.
    -If i had to force myself to like or even understand abby i wouldn't be successful at all
    -The love/sex scenes were actually very very cringey and incredibly out of place

    But problem with LoU2 don't end here. Games are not camping stories. There is no masterpiece movie that have bad camera work, bad acting and dialogues but great story so is 10/10. No all part should work together. In LoU2 gameplay is almost unchanged and nothing to sing about. Unless you consider ability to crawl a genius idea or companions becoming invisible to enemies when you sneaking, so developers don't have to create actual AI a great innovation, then do you even played action games in last decade? Gameplay is average.

    Graphics? It's decent.

    But since gameplay is the same other games of genre have it totally disagrees with what story want us. The "violence is bad, and we should forgive" that Lou2 story supposedly wants to show us is contradicted by it's own gameplay were we doing some garden cleaning. The gameplay that decides to give us several options to kill enemies so we don't get bored with killing them the same way. And there is random cutscene, when we get sad and contemplating. But after that it's return of gameplay. That's why if we consider that story-telling is the leading and most important part of LoU2 then gameplay is bad. Because it not only not support it, but activity negate it.

    If there is something of lesson that LoU2 gives, is that show of how illiterate professional reviewers become, and how hard they try to please they friends from industry that from critics they become part of game their marketing. Because if you developer of big game and want to spread some leeks and keeping hype up who you would go to give exclusive interview? Some additional info that no other have? And it's no brainier that for game magazine the exclusive info that others won't have is the most important. Reviews? Everybody would have them.    … Expand

Every decision made by these characters feels forced and out of reason in relation to the last game and it forces you to watch without even giving the option to change it. The further you go into the game, the worse and worse the writing gets until it’s basically unbearable, save yourself the money

My problem with this game stems from just how all over the place these characters are: Ellie goes from a hopeful soul who wants to help the world in the first game, to a homicidal maniac in the beginning of this one, to forgiving Abby later on?! And Joel, who would trust nobody in the first game and do whatever it took for safety, saves Abby for no reason and then tells her and her whole group of strangers his name? Speaking of Abby, they try and push this needs of the many outweigh the few mentality on her, but she abandoned her friends and morals to for lev? Excuse me? It’s like they didn’t even care about writing a good game here, they just wanted to, as I said, push a narrative with a pretty coat of paint. And if you want to push for representation PLEASE DO, I really love the LGBTQ+ characters, the POC, and everything, but these games are ruining characters for the sake of representation. There’s so many more valid points to be made about why this game was a shame, but they’ve already been made and I just don’t wanna think about this game anymore. I just really hope games start to realize that we don’t hate LGBTQ+ or POC characters, we just hate when characters are poorly written and poorly designed, and when their motivations and character traits are thrown about nonsensically. These negative reviews are all valid, and people trying to push this idea that we’re review bombing because we don’t like that they “killed off the white man” or because “the main character is gay”, please just stop. You’re the problem, and people like you are exactly why really good, really beloved LGBTQ+ characters especially won’t be widespread, because for a lot of you just having a woman or a gay character is enough.     visually it was great, but story was horrible. it seemed like it Joel and Ellie were not the same caricatures from the first game... maybe that's what they were trying to do, but it didn't relate well and i almost didn't like them. i played TLOU multiple times, but im fine with only playing this game once. try again next time...

I think the saddest part is that people went in with an opinion of i hate it, before even playing it, or before watching someone else, because of the leaks and loosing a favorite character without getting "true" revenge was too much for them to deal with. I loved it coming from things like a song of ice and fire and of course the original Last of Us, i love things that break the mold of everything is only "good" or only "evil", and good guys always win with very little negatives. In these games they changed that, they had REAL consequences for EVERY characters actions that felt like real human emotions (grief, anger, sadness, PTSD) its all captured so well, and it shows humanity in its truest form to morality, its not simply black and white (evil and good) its much more complicated than that. An amazing experience, but its very sad to see the community so torn apart because of trolls (Racists Homophobes etc) and people that loved the characters too much to let them change, as there supposed to in a story, which made them hate the game before the start, and if you go in with the mentality of looking at all the bad, you're not gonna find any good. In summary go into games with an open mind, and 0 spoilers, but most of all PLAY the game, you will find games much better that way i'm sure. worked for me anyways, Peace.… Expand

    Waited 7 years and spent € 60,- and 30+ hours on a mediocre story with well polished gameplay and amazing graphics.
    If I could I'd give it a 5/10 I would, but MC won't let me
    I hoped they'd put as much effort as they put into the amazing mechanics and beautiful graphics as they did the story.

Story definitely not going to please everyone, but try to move past the expectations you have coming into the game and give it a shot and you may enjoy it. Though "enjoy" might not be the right word since this is one of the bleakest games ever. Still, I personally liked the nuances of the story and found it deeply engaging, heartbreaking, and intense. They took a lot of risks with this story, and while not all of them pay off, I think overall they succeeded.
    Other than the story, which has understandably divided fans, everything else is top notch as expected. I've always loved TLOU gameplay, and this just improves everything I liked. Graphics, music, sound design, acting, all top notch.
    Still, I will say, Last of Us 1 is my favorite game, and this one doesn't come close to it, though it's hard to beat one of the best games ever made. Additionally if you loved the first game, it is hard to play this one and see all the characters you love go through absolute hell, and I get why people don't like it. I still think it's worth playing and forming your own opinions on it.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
