It's a good game. Not excellent. To many bugs and the story is quite a cliche.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm not entirely sure why this game is getting so much hate by the fan base to the point of "review bombing". It's extreme, to say the least. Disclaimer - I haven't finished the game yet so maybe the ending is what possibly set all this drama off. But I do know that even if the ending is terrible, I'm still having fun playing this game so far and I intend to finish it. It is definitely not worth the lowest rating possible on every reviewing platform; although it is everyone's right to give whatever score they choose even if it is the lowest. I just hope that they are considering every aspect of the game and giving a fair, unbiased (to others review bombing) score.

The original game is currently one of my favorite games of all time. The story focused on two characters who weren't too sure of each other at first, but alongside the player, started "warming up" to each other and developing an unbreakable bond. Thus, the player developing an extreme emotional connection (or at least I did) to the characters that was (SPOILER) later suddenly shattered in the sequel (SPOILER OVER). Then we have the core of the story; a "zombie" apocalypse that is a bit of a twist. Instead of the typical virus outbreak and hordes of relatively normal looking walking dead, the core story revolves around a fungus outbreak that acts extraordinarily different than the former. They aren't the typical walking dead, they're over-grown fungal covered and parasitically controlled monsters. Lastly, we have the gameplay. It's very similar to the Resident Evil series. Except less puzzlely, much more action and sudden events intensive, and more cut scenes between areas due to the heavily story-driven nature of the game. All of which I love and make me prefer the game over the Resident Evil series.

The sequel, as you would expect, overall improves on the basis of the previous game. I've played past the part where (SPOILER) Joel dies (SPOILER OVER) so I know that the original emotional connection with the previous main characters is semi faded away but I still find the story engaging enough. Would I say it's better than the first game? No, obviously not. But it is generally difficult for any game to outshine the original. The first time you play something, you develop a first time experience that acts also as a bias, tilting the scales in its favor compared to the sequel(s). All I'm saying is that the first game's story was amazing and the second game's might not as amazing, but it is still decent at the very least.

The gameplay is more fun than the first game's. The new attack dodging ability is really cool, I just think that it is a little too easy to dodge most enemies attacks. I am playing the game on "SURVIVOR" mode which is the hardest difficulty that can be picked, unless there are harder ones unlocked after beating the game for the first time. Given I was playing on the hardest difficulty, I found that enemy attacks were way too slow to hit me so it became apparent that I could just punch/slash the absolute !%$# out of everything instead of using ammo or stealth. That's a bit of an over exaggeration, there were points were I ran out of ammo and had to resort to stealth, but it made me feel like a badass fighter. I also found that you can take an unhuman amount of bullets before dying. I was being shot like 4 - 5 times before running out of health which became felt way too easy on the hardest difficulty. In real life, you'd be lucky to survive one shot depending on the impact location. I think they should make it 1 shot then 2 shots with health upgrades on the hardest mode. They definitely should do some difficulty retweaking in terms of player damage. Lastly, the stealth is a little too easy. They added a full prone feature so you can lie on your stomach and crawl. It's slow but it basically makes you invisible to enemies even if they are like 5 feet away. Combine that with the craftable silences, which by the way I always had one crafted, and you're easily a "skilled" assassin with next to no effort compared to typical stealth action.

Some say the story is lacking; I agree that the story is definitely not as good compared to the original game's, but overall the game is good. Needs a bit of tweaking in difficulty/balance but it is just about as fun as the first game. I'm probably gonna get a lot of hate for this review for holding an unpopular opinion; so be it. The game is fun for me and no one or group is going to deny that fact. If this game was zero fun, then I'd score it a 0 but that's not what I think and I'm standing by it.

The flashbacks and parts with Joel and Ellie were *amazing* and should have been used in a different order so the impact was higher.
If your major take from this game is that there are lesbians in it, you've missed the actual story, and are just homophobic. I don't care if the other character was a muscular woman either - who cares - how she was used is the issue.
    Graphics are freaking amazing!
Action and gameplay is like a refinement of the first game mixed with Uncharted and it works well.
Hard to know what's next in the game universe, or if they will end it here. Hope there is more - there is a feeling of emptiness after completing it and I want this universe's story to end on a high overall.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I've just finished the game. It is an excellent game and it plays really fluently, in terms of game play mechanics. I really liked the refine combat system, especially the dodging and directional dodging. A long, and I bet, awaited feature since the prelude. And the music monumentally outclasses everything below it. It done a great deal with reflecting the right emotion with whatever moment was present in the game. The visuals for a 2013 hardware is incomparable from what I have seen, you can't deny that. I have recently completed the original TLOU game.

Towards the end of TLOU II and throughout parts of the game, I was simply put, left confused.

I am not a person to bash on a game heavily. But from what I have played from my experience, to focus on the core characters, and then to veer off to a different set of characters with different lives and intentions doesn't seem to play well with the masses. Very risky move

When playing as Abby, we are fed the narrative that her life has meaning, is innocent and sweet. And then we are made question Ellie's mission and objective. We can't let part II take away the core characters from the prelude and neglect them, is what I felt was the intention here. I feel that they are neglected in favor for getting a viewpoint from Abby's life. There is no significant breakthrough backstory for Abby. Which I thought was disappointing. She was mundane to play overall. But in the end, were made feel as if all that Ellie has done, is made out to do bad on her journey, fueled by revenge. The compensation for playing as Abby is the empathy you endure as her, but for Ellie it is made out to be a huge task and strenuous. It was evidently confusing to me at first. But these are stark missions both these troubling characters endured on. And for the majority, i'd imagine so too. What I have said so far is a heavily personal on my behalf.

You always should look on the flip side too, after playing through all of Abby's perspective, maybe Ellie was pushing her luck a bit too much all along, maybe it was meant to be. Who knows. Ellie was always troublesome with the truth. Both were on the same mission and motivation of getting revenge. The longer I go, the more it lingers to me that these new characters introduced in part II, were in a time where Joel and Ellie also happened to exist. You can't really feel for one over the other, when you have new character developments.

I don't want to get into any stereotypical, racial biases in this game that people discuss. We just got to learn to accept that these are people with their own different beliefs in this game. I have nothing wrong with that. But personally, I truly believe in the ying/yang dynamic, especially with the gender types.

The developers were very brave to pull such a feat, 7 years of development for this plot. Bold moves set by Naughty Dog. I was just left in a state of confusion. I have nothing inherently bad to say about the story line at all. It's imperative to keep who the core characters are. I might need to replay this game to fully understand the complexities that Part II brings. I want to accept things for what they are. For this game as it stands at the moment, It's going to take a long time...

However the truly worst part of the experience is the plot, that is fundamental for a very linear and story driven game like this one: through a literal destruction of all the beloved character of the first game, the game substantially wants to teach you one of the most generic lessons ever, the one of revenge being a bad thing. In order to achieve this mediocre goal the story relies still on crucial events happening purely by chance, action completely out of the personality of characters and several minor plot holes. If we consider also the abuse of dmca takedowns on YouTube from Sony and the misleading advertising for the game(if you play it you’ll know what I’m referring to), I do not recommend this game thinking about the milestone part 1 have been for gaming, and I suggest saving 60$ and watching the play through on YouTube/twitch if you’re curious on how a story so anticipated can be so poorly written Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. TLOU 1 is one of my favorite games of all time. Playing through Part 2 was very difficult for me. Right off the bat the gameplay is great, feels nice and brutal. Now the story on the other hand is hard to say. The main issue with the story is Abby. Very cut and dry. They should have put the flashback scenes at the very beginning of the game so the player can feel and understand her. The way they handled Abby was very poor and I never felt like I actually cared about her or her friends, I just wanted them dead for what they did. I can 100% understand why some people will absolutely hate this game. The game could have been a absolute masterpiece if they had the scenes in chronological order to build up emotions for the characters but they don't which is the worst thing. The game isn't bad it just makes a huge mistake with the story. I loved and cared for Dina and Jesse but everyone on Abby's side I didn't give a **** about them. It just makes me sad because The first game is a absolute masterpiece to play it just hurts knowing the mistakes this game makes. They should have put **** in order. Thanks for reading. Expand

After playing it completely through, I get why people are mad. But even then, this is an interesting case for story's that try something different. Too bad that in this case, the game director didn't succeed in creating characters with the same personality and integrity like the first game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A fully substantiated and considered assessment of the game in my opinion is 8/
    10. Let's start with the good. Of course, decent graphics and gameplay leave a good impression. The emotions of the heroes, fear, anger, love and despair are perfectly conveyed. The plot construction is excellent: first you play as Ally and see everything from her side. But later, playing as Abby, you rethink every event, think of every person that killed and feel the story from a different angle. In general, the plot can not be called bad, but from my point of view this is the biggest disappointment. First of all, this is disappointment in Ally, from which the developers made a dumb machine for revenge, which does not see life. Of course, the murder of Joyle was a terrible blow and trauma for her life, but even after revenge, the murder of all friends and relatives of Abby and after Abby saved her life twice - Ellie wants to find her in order to save and then kill. . (???). At the same time, in contrast, it is clear that Abby, despite everything, retains humanity in herself, despite the fact that she also has a childhood trauma from killing her father. Sparing the enemy’s life and forgiving twice is noble. Ally, on the contrary, is curbed by such cruelty that she is ready to kill innocent people and leave everything for revenge. In the end, you understand very well that Ally has everything - her beloved nearby, a child, a house, and it would seem that what else is needed? But she refuses all this for revenge to a man who has so lost everything. Abby lost all the drears, she had no one left, but she forgave Ellie and only this can bring peace. Forgiveness, not revenge. Ally, thanks to her stupidity, loses everything - but for what? Instead of forgetting, no matter how painful, Ellie loses both his family and love, and even the last thing left of Joyle - playing the guitar. And now, at the end of the journey, she was left with nothing because of a thirst for revenge. The plot is good, but it's a shame that the girl from the first part made a brainless obsessed woman. We all loved this hero so much, but it turned out that Ellie really did not become anything useful in this life. And after the ending you think: “And really, it would be better if it was used for a vaccine and it could be useful, because throughout her life she only did that she killed so many people, brought so much pain and remained useless and with nothing.".

I understand why there is a lot of hate to this game , but if we close eyes on it , I wouldnt say that the game will be much more better . I understand the main message from Neil Druckmann ,about all this moral stuff and how your desire to revenge can be fatal for you. But we were waiting for this game for 7 years ,we wanted to see another story ,this main characters are alive , both of them. I cant understand Abby's actions. You start the game with killing of the main character. You are starting to hate Abby and you dont want to know her story and why she decided to do it.

We all see the LGBT advocacy , this is why this game loses a few points instantly. I dont care about this stuff ,but in the game where we see an inflated woman , its **** my friends . In this game women better than men everywhere . I think if this game hadnt got a LGBT advocacy it would be much more better , the characters of this game wouldnt be looking like this one. Abby would looking pretty much better and more beautiful.

The game is a technical marvel and shines in every aspect in the visual department, framerate is solid and the visuals are varied, vibrant and simply bursting with detail. Gameplay is tense with every enemy feeling like a genuine threat and combat and customisation is deep and engaging. Exploration is deeply encouraged and rewarded in spades making combing every nook and cranny of each new area feel like an effort worth the time to dedicate to it. The voice acting as well, as you would expect, is top notch with the cast bringing their alls to the roles and it truly shows.

Where the game suffers tremendously, is with the story, writing and pacing. The Last of Us 2 is bogged down by it's cliché and poorly written revenge plot with baffling decisions littered all over the 25 hour campaign, some dreadful dialogue and terrible story structure. The story feels awfully rushed and carries almost no weight in comparison to it's predecessor. The cast of characters this time around are incredibly bland, generic and forgotten the moment they exit the screen or are killed off and all of the emotional tension from the first game we have come to love, is disregarded in favour of this bland storyline about the cycle of revenge and the need to remind you every step of the way that violence is not the solution. It truly feels like a child's interpretation of what violence looks like. Furthermore the depth and charm has been all but stripped away from Ellie and the game as whole, and we're left with an unpleasant, miserable husk that made me half wonder if this was the same lass we travelled across the country with in the first game. The writing does improve noticeable in specific sections of the game, and they are noticeable, but that's spoiler territory I'm not going to dive into.

Overall, despite enjoying my time with the game and seeing that it excels in the gameplay, visuals and technical departments, it's bland and forgettable cast coupled with a horribly written, poorly structured plot make the Last of Us Part 2 one of the most conflicting titles I have played in a very long time.

On the one hand, great graphics, the best character animations I've seen and quite good (Yes, even with Joel's death) first part of the game. On the other hand, everything that happens in the second part of the game is a failure. No matter how scriptwriters try to justify Abby's actions (especially compared to Ellie's), they failed. The story of the Lev/Lily and Yara is just a sjw joke. But still, I liked the ending that everyone hates so much. Of course, scriptwriters could have been more talented in explaining that violence only leads to violence. But we have what we have.I am disappointed, the ending of first part left me with bitter-sweet feelings, second one left me with nothing, but sadness. The game has beautiful scenarios, an awesome ost, and a better gameplay than the original. But the history is awful. If the game were one hour shorter, it would be a 9, because I really got happy at the final part. But the epilogue ruined it all. The last chapter, that ending they give to the game is a spit for the fans and the original game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have a lot of mixed feelings about this game. I’ve been looking forward to it for years, much like a lot of other ND fans. I believe that Neil Druckmann was looking to avert expectations and take risks. I don’t think that those risks paid off, because at the center of it- this story is a bleak journey with poor motivations and no real message or heart. The love and theme of parenting in the first game is what made it good- this game doesn’t have anything meaningful to say. It can’t decide on a single message, and that is the worst problem of them all. Many people have argued whether they love or hate playing as Abby. I personally liked it, and I thought that Lev and Yara were great characters that I desperately wish I could have seen more of. The seraphites are so interesting, and both them and the WLF make a lot of sense. Their different ways of living were obviously thought out with extreme care. It’s just a shame that the characters were not treated as well as the environments, tech, gameplay, and sound- which are all fantastic. There are some big pacing issues, with both gameplay and story. Many sequences could have been cut out, and huge, HUGE parts of the story could have been replaced or re-arranged. The timing and location of Joel’s death made it so that flashbacks were dispersed throughout the story in a way that felt disconnected and strange. Despite great performances, it was hard to get really invested or emotional in Joel and Ellie, except for a few key moments. It shouldn’t be hard to invest in them, but the story structure and the heartlessness was fighting.

The messages of saving the person you love at any cost could have been pushed further. If Joel and Ellie went on a trip to avenge Tommy’s death, that could have allowed these two characters to work out their conflict with what Joel did to save Ellie all those years ago. Joel would have been in-character to tunnel-vision in on revenge, while Ellie would be the one to realize that it was pointless, and it wouldn’t make either of them happier. Perhaps if something then happened to Joel, the story could revolve around Ellie’s guilt and sadness in a more meaningful way. There is much, much more that I can talk about here, but I’ll just cut short and say that there would be many ways to tie in the different factions, Abby, lev and Yara into this game. Countless ways to make them more interesting and relevant to Ellie’s journey. The gameplay adds a lot of new elements to it, that I feel really enhance things. There are some hits and some misses, but boy- the hits are REALLY spectacular. The new enemy types and boss fights (especially the one main one) are more amazing than I could have even imagined. There are many good things to say about the beauty and amazing details of this world. Overall, this game is a bloated, disconnected, meaningless mess. But it sure does look beautiful, and it plays extremely well. I can’t hell but feel like the confidence that Neil Duckmann has had regarding this game must mean that he is an ego-driven writer who needed someone like Bruce Straley to level him out. He’s been a personal hero of mine for years, but he’s lost my faith in him. He told fans to trust naughty dog, but I’ve lost that trust in his writing. I’m not sure how Halley Gross contributed exactly, but she surely didn’t do enough to save the story. I’m extremely sad and disappointed that this wasn’t the masterpiece that I was hoping it would be.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I loved the first game. So much so that my daughter's name is Ellie. The best parts of that game were easily the characters. The story itself is relatively simple, but is made so beautiful with how each event is explored between Joel, Ellie, and everyone else involved. The gameplay was fine. I liked it more than Uncharted because I had grown tired of climbing building after building in videogames. The visuals have become dated, but the cinematic aspects of the game make it a masterpiece in my eyes. The sequel on the other hand... is not.

The Last of Us 2 improved in many ways from it's predecessor. The gameplay is rock solid - building on the foundations of the first whilst not being an over-complicated mess. Visuals are top-notch for the PS4. The setting & cinematics bring you in like no other narrative driven game. But the major issues lie with the story and the characters. Almost a 180 from the original.

I don't agree that characters make decisions that don't line up with what was established in the first game. The stakes have changed and I feel like they handled the situations as we can expect. I think the story has very solid plot points that would've been much better if told in a different order. Meeting Abby and then watching her immediately kill Joel was gut-wrenching. And it could've been great storytelling, if they never tried to make us care for her character - but they spend half the game trying to make you like her. While playing as Abby I found myself purposely dying out of spite for her character. I believe a better approach would've been to start the game off as Abby with her father (not dissimilar to Kingdom Hearts II's opening) so that we can better understand this characters actions. Also, it would've been better for Tommy/Dina dying in the opening with Joel & Ellie out for revenge, and later Joel dying in the theater.

Overall I like the story they wrote, but a little more time in the writer's room would've done this game wonders.

Yes killing Joel was the worst thing that happened in the game, but you soon find out why he died, playing as Abby wasn’t the best but if your going to make a new game there has to be BIG changes. But no matter what you think of the divisive story choices, divisive or not they are just poorly written story choices that negatively display a story which around those story choices this is well written. The gameplay is fluid, the environment and level design is stunning, game mechanics are well executed. But at the end the last of us 2 fails to write Abby’s character well to justify the game time spent playing as her in a game that isnt bad or inconsistent in writing because plot points were divisive, but in a story that tries to be unpredictable and fails with no adequate writing to explain abby's character or actions with very poor writing to explain a few characters fates. In terms of innovation I feel player choice was robbed in comparison to the 1st game. its more like we are forced into situations with this game in which I think we could had benefited to alternate story choice elements on what in Particular Abby or Ellie does. it would had left it so much more of an impactful first playthrough impression. *** Score:6-7/10 game‬***
why a 7. My average calculates it at a 6.5 based on categories of graphics, how smooth / responsive it runs, overall Story and innovations if applicable. In my score substance needed to stand out more than just beauty. I thoroughly enjoy the 1st last of us game. It is one of the masterpieces that was thought provoking in terms of Joels building relationship with Ellie who is your companion for a majority of the game. the world provided an interesting twist on the common tropes of a pandemic and dystopian settings. the second game is thought provoking but there was a good section of the game I felt like I didn't have as much understanding of character motivations or maybe they were just not written clearly or I could not understand it clearly in particular Abby. The fact the story seemed so linear and not taking into account players being able to to make the choices at certain points in the game us the real disappointment I have in this game. Maybe I set my standards too high but I think that could had helped the game a lot in the story department. limiting player choice to a linear set up doesn't work well considering its predecessor.

This is a honest opinion about the game, using my experiencie given with The last of Us (for me, a solid 9.6) and The last of Us 2 (is a 7.4 but the calification is only with entire numbers) The gameplay feels good, the same in the first game but with some improvements (the dash, dodge, jump, new tools and weapons, etc), the ai is good, can be better (sometimes feels so unnatural with reactions in 1 frame, and others the enemies seem to not see you almost in front of them, could be better), the battles and enemies are good with the last problem exposed.
Now the problem, character development and story, first the Joel's death. Feels so wack, unrealistic (in consideration about the first game): Joel mistrust everyone in the first game, even Ellie, and now he got a window of trust with some random people (even saying his name), and being killed; is so dumb, a stupid decision and a whole hole in the narration. All the plot with the antagonist has a bad execution and low quality doing with morality, could be a lot better, more development could be required (the introduction could be like Assasins creed brotherhood with an assault to Jackson, and knowing better the enemies in the road. This could be more safe than the final product). The final is also dumb, why doing everything you have done to revenge, even leaving your own life behind, to do nothing in front the person who killed your best friend and even a pattern figure (and others like Jesse's death, being a problem with the relation with 2 near of you people Dina and Tommy, basically destroys your life) and get nothing instead? (literally, Ellie is alone in the final) This feels bad, and seems all the story and every action the player done is for nothing. Sorry if something is not clear, english is not my native lenguage.

But they just let that tension dwindle and die and it becomes just a simple revenge story. Not to say that it isn't neat. But there were 3 story beats that actually made me feel something. Out of a total 10ish big story beats. The ending kept the same era of bittersweet uncertainty about it like the first one and it was great. I loved the ending. The Last of us part 2 is a technical marvel in terms of gameplay, It’s a fresh spin on the old gameplay from the first game with new features such as going prone, jumping, suppressors, climbing and scaling walls using ropes, and cables. new enemy types such as the Scars who communicate by whistling, a very creepy and original type of enemy. on the infected side, we have the classic infected types return: Runners, Stalkers, Bloaters, and the extremely none chilling clickers. We also have new infected in the form of shamblers, a deadly new type of infected that explodes spores when it gets too close to the player. There are both new and old weapons, every one of them feel unique and different, and the beloved stealth aspect making a return. The graphics are 10/10, the gameplay is a 10/10 the voice acting and sound design is a 10/10. What hurts this game to it’s very core is the story. It is FAR weaker than the previous title, which received over 200 awards. Although not completely awful, it has a very confusing plot and a very sluggish 3rd act. Characters make choices that seem strange or even to the point of ridiculousness, which leads to unnecessary major character death, and a story with poor pacing, bad writing, weak motives, and an overall laughable ending. That’s not saying the entire game is horrible, the story has some great moments with Joel and Ellie in the form of flashback sequences, which really show how much they’ve grown. However these sections are too few and far between some of the ridiculous moments. Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker once again kill the roles as Joel & Ellie with some of the finest voice work this generation has seen. To summarize, if you loved the gameplay of part one and are okay with your expectations being subverted, you will love this game, If you want to get this game because you fell in love with the story of the first game, I’d save your 60$ and look up a let’s play on YouTube. Nothing special in terms of story. A very disappointing turn out for a company held in such high regards when it comes to story telling. We all know that Neil Druckmann and the Naughty Dog writers are insanely talented, but the story for me completely misses the mark which drops the final rating for me to a 7/10 Expand

Visually stunning and realistic as come to expect from Naughty Dog, I found the consistently dark and bleak nature of this sequel a stark contrast to what I love of the first one. I went back and beat TLOU on grounded a month prior to the sequel's release so it's still fresh in my mind.

I can essentially sum up this frustrating narrative in three segments.
First 10 Hours: Here is a revenge story! Pretty cut and dry. You hate these people and you're gonna make them pay for it!
Next 10 Hours: Congrats, you took your revenge, and now we're gonna spend a hell of a lot of unnecessary time trying to make you feel bad for it. So let's stop the plot and go on a long sidequest of attempted retrospective character development!
Last 5 Hours: Let's try to reconstruct this ending now that you're all caught up. Oh wait, you shouldn't be mad anymore? Also, Catalina ofcourse.

I rate it a 10/10 for the environment, animation, etc.. basically the art dept. Story should've been handled very differently. Combat is fun...for a while. I'm honestly probably better off keeping TLOU ending as the only ending, and not going into this sequel. Leave it a that.

In the bright side the graphics were gorgeous, I loved the dodge ability, and the cute Joel and Ellie moments were the best other then that the game is just bad it focused to much in Ellie sexuality, also the ai companion sucked, horrible ending, they also added themes that weren't necessarily just to please a demographic group that is most likely never going to play this game and the only emotional scenes were the death o Joel and Jess.

this is nothing like the first game. this has a completely different atmosphere with revenge and hatred driving every character's decisions, unlike the original whereas love and companionship formed ellie and joel's relationship. the story of ellie's hatred showed the realistic side of relationships, not just the "happy ending" part that we're always so used to, which is why i believe that those who did not enjoy the game were expecting to have everything work out the way they hoped. because of this, i can see why a lot of people didn't like part II. there were definitely times where i rushed the gameplay just to get a level over with. however, we were told that this game wasn't going to be for everyone and good lord Neil Druckmann was not lying. at some parts, it made me feel like an absolute monster and a piece of **** not just because we were being forced to kill dogs, but because i genuinely HATED what i was doing at one point to my opponent. there were a **** ton of twists that kept happening, especially towards the end. so many things were so heart wrenching, and others were heart warming at the same time, but i do admit that some parts were pretty badly executed and some characters absolutely sucked which kinda took away from the story. the whole idea of the game was to emphasize how everything won't have a "good happy ending," which made players think about the realistic side of life, especially when dealing with someone extremely close to you in a post-apocalyptic world. overall, tlou p2 was a rollercoaster of emotions and made me sob multiple times, but also gave me mixed feelings. unfortunately, it didn't come close the amount of appreciation and love i have for the first game because that was the true masterpiece itself.

This game, was amazing, speaking about mechanics and new enemies, but if we speak about storyline, is disappointing, in the beggining Joel dies by the most humillating way and the final, we control Abby like half of the game and then we have to win Ellie in a fight? it sucks, for me this part of the storyline doesn't exist. I'll not give it blatantly 0 or 1, but believe me - critics are overrated this game. The Last of Us and Left Behind expansion was a shooter game with decent zombie outbreak theme. It wasn't a masterpiece, unlike most of the people says - the tie between Joel and Ellie developed slowlyI'll not give it blatantly 0 or 1, but believe me - critics are overrated this game. The Last of Us and Left Behind expansion was a shooter game with decent zombie outbreak theme. There is tons of games out there with that, but what this game did better than those was story telling. It wasn't a masterpiece, unlike most of the people says - the tie between Joel and Ellie developed slowly and once it should be strengthened, it happened instantly. Nothing can be perfect, I know but a masterpiece shouldn't have problems like that - especially when it's main focus is story telling. Aside that, game was just a shooter, with optional stealth if you want. Believe me, there is tons of games does that part even better. There was puzzles, and they were boring because set on moving a platform a lot.

I really tried to avoid spoilers even with the first game, so here's what's about the Part II. Storytelling is awful. Only good thing I say about story is how it's presented and some of the characters are lovable. Aside from that, there is tons of plot-holes, unnatural behaviours, lazy writing and inconsistency. Once you completely finish the game, I think developers want you have a bitter taste but hell, you get a stale taste and say why those people done this? and most likely why critics gave this 10/10? I'll not give any spoilers, but imagine whole story development and character's life choices doesn't even matter in the end. Unlike Part II, the whole story development was key point in the finale of the first game.

Gameplay is almost identical, with smooth improvements and better AI. Sound design? Awesome. Musics, decent enough. Graphics? I expect more tbh, especially from a Sony Exclusive game.

Let's talk about politics, game isn't fully loaded with LGBTQ+ but sometimes the privileges given on "that one" character will bore you. Unlike most of the other people, I played Left Behind and I know Ellie is lesbian. I'm a crossdresser as well, so consider it came from a "non-binary". The problem isn't representing it, the problem is making one character overrated, who represents that culture.

Well, seems like the score I give is only and ONLY for game engineering and like I've said it's not something truly unique. If the main focus is story of the game, it should impact scoring more than other games. 4/5 is for simple, enjoyable gameplay and good voice design. Musics and graphics are not that much of good so they doesn't impact rating for good or bad. Story and character development - literally zero/5.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So now that I've finished the game, I'd like to give my impressions. I wouldn't even call the whole thing bad writing. The story was okay. But there were some questionable decisions. For me personally, it would have been smarter to get to know Abby before her group found Tommy and Joel. I'd prefer a character, who struggles with her wish for revenge and duties towards her community. It would've been nice to have the flashbacks like: Ellie: past to presence, Abby: presence to past, instead of playing a character I don't know and didn't understand when she showed empathy for others. I wasn't as emotionally involved as I was in Part I. I saw a single longer encounter of Abby and her father. I still don't know him, don't really care about his death, therefore Abby's personal demise. I would've loved to see how bad live turned out after and why her hatred eats her up. Part I portrayed reasons for Joel to be the way he was, which I'm missing within the character of Abby.
Joel had the purpose of surviving, but more was stacked upon his shoulders: find a cure, lose Tess, keep Ellie safe, rebuild relationship to Tommy, keep Ellie at distance, give in and let the love grow. Abby's purpose is: make war, find Joel. Not enough to get emotionally involved. She doesn't struggle with anything but comments from Mel and Owen, which she ignores and moves on. Other characters like Tommy, Ellie, Joel and even Bill make up their minds about things - good, decent and enjoyable characters. Maybe I'm just not much of a revenge-at-all-costs-person. I don't understand the drive.
When Abby tries to save Lev and his sister, she shows some character traits I can work with - a little late. I enjoyed and was involved in the war-situation on the island, but that was because of the screams, the fire, having Lev in the middle of this. I felt for Abby when she told him "You're my people", but she destroyed the moment when she wanted to cut Dina's throat. Joel's character in Part I left the thoughts "C'mon, Joel. Try to get over yourself." and later "FINALLY! Go save your girl!". Abby leaves the thought "The hell are you doing? Why'd you do that?", later "I don't care. Let's just get it over with." I rushed through her episodes to return to Ellie. I needed encounters like the one with Lev or even with Abby and her group before so Joel's death wouldn't make me feel devastated because I had to play a character I'm thinking "what am I doing here?" of, but rather had a decent character, who cares about more than revenge, making seeing her kill Joel harder. Her friends for example. Who I don't feel like they are as Abby doesn't give a **** about them until they're gone for good. I've watched Manny spit on a dead man's face, sending an insult his way and I'm supposed to feel a friendship between Abby and him later? Come on :'D and while everyone else is shaken by the events, Abby found her smile. I'm supposed to feel for her when there's not even a little remorse or self-reflection? That's a main character quality she's missing, if we leave the Scars-situation later on aside. Another involvement aspect: I would have loved for Jackson to get into the middle of the Seraphites' and Wolves' conflict. It would have made Ellie's decision not to kill Abby even stronger. Ellie would've made her decision for the greater good: Abby can only keep her people safe and alive when she's not dead. Yes, this story is about personal processes. Still, I would have loved Ellie to decide for the greater good.
On the other hand, their fight at the end broke my heart. I was glad Ellie decided not to kill her. The ending was unsettling. It wasn't an open ending like Part I, but isn't closed, either. I would have liked Ellie to finally play and sing the whole song Joel wrote, instead of playing the first few chords and leave. That would have made me feel sad instead of just empty. I love the world, the details, the old characters, would like to say I loved the new ones, like Jesse (again I didn't get enough time), I loved the gameplay (and at the same time hated it, but that's because of my gaming skill :D). I just wished so badly there was a way to feel for Abby in order to make playing her entertaining. I wish the order of events was different and with a little more small encounters to get to know Abby. I even would've preferred to play a character from Abby's group, who watches her get consumed by her hatred. I would've liked to play a character, being on her side regarding the whole Joel-thing, but making no comment on Abby's actions so that I, as a player, get the chance to carry my opinion rather than being pushed into an opinion I disagree with by all means. Great game, great level designs, great details, great acting, confusing decision regarding the choice for a new main character, that doesn't bring along main character qualities, confusing decision towards the order of events, leading to little involvement on Abby's behalf.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After finishing the game over the weekend, I can honestly say that I enjoyed the game quite a lot. There have been a lot of reviews bombing the game, but I would like to share why I think this game is a good one at least, if not a totally worthy sequel. I just want to warn that there will be a lot of spoilers.

First: the gameplay. I liked it, it was familiar, easy to settle into. It got tedious after about say 16 hours but with the introduction of Stalkers a bit before then you are kept on high alert. I especially liked the additional boss fight with the monstrosity you encounter later in Seattle.
The crafting was the same, but you have to level up Ellie and Abby's skills in a follow-up order, which was a bit annoying, since I couldn't immediately get the skill I wanted or would find useful at that moment in the game. I also loved that you could customize most settings, like companion effectiveness, enemy alertness level and even button functions on the controller.

The character perspective switch. Through the game you play as Ellie in the first half, and go through the same timeline again, but this time as Abby. I wasn't the biggest fan of the switching, since we we're playing as Joel's killer and eventually turing us against Ellie, but I understand why it was important for us to see Abby's side of the story, get to know her, find her motivations, see that she's actually a person that lost so much and just couldn't let go. It kept her from being just another villain set on uprooting what we had established. It also brought regret on finding out you were responsible for killing her dad and eventually her friends, they get you to bond with those characters, but didn't shy from the fact that, yeah, they're already dead because of you.
I wasn't the biggest fan, but I even started to like Abby near the end of Day 2.

The pacing. A little drawn out, took too long to get to the point, but ultimately a good time. The flashbacks to Ellie's time with Joel were the best parts of the game. Abby's flashbacks too, great parts in understanding her character. 10/10.

The "agenda". Ellie's gay and her girlfriend accompanies her through the first half of the game. Beginning features homophobic comment. There is a trans boy later on that Abby helps out when the crazy cult wants to kill him. The story would be exactly the same if Dina was a guy (except maybe for the pregnant part but that can be changed) and Lev was a girl that broke the rules of the cult, it has 0 influence on your life or the story. I really enjoyd these aspects. It was nice to have more diverse set of characters, you don't notice how bland stories are without diversity until you get a story with a lot of it. 10/10.

Now: the story. I can honestly say that this is the main reson why it didn't get 10/10 from me. As a standalone game, it is beautiful in every way, but as a sequel to a dearly beloved first game, it klings too much on shock value. I liked that the first game felt organic and had more highs than lows. If I could associate it with a colour, The Last Of Us would be deep forest green. Part II would be the colour of rust. It got old and started to collapse under its own weight. The game would've benefited from it so much if they decided to end it in the theatre in Seattle. To kill Abby aswell. I understood Joel's death, Ellie losing her fingers and the abundance of other deaths and tragedies throughout, but letting Abby go made the whole game's story moot point.
The whole part in Santa Barbara was useless to me and felt like they were milking that damm revenge cow till it ran dry.

Throughout the game we see many similarities between Abby and Ellie, they're pretty much two sides of the same coin. Ellie is no better than Abby and the game should've gave Ellie the horrid realisation of this. Instead they have tried to make Ellie the better person, which she is not and never will be.

I actually liked Abby's story more than Ellie's, Ellie felt flat and narrow minded. The part where she showed up at the theatre after killing Mel and Owen, that was the first time I felt like Ellie was an actual person in the story, not just an object that progressed the game. I would actually contribute 3 out of the 7 score I gave to Abby's storyline.

I also noticed people said Joel and Tommy were reckless and out of character about telling the group where they lived and trusting them (eventually leading to Joel's death), but lets face it, it's been four years in Jackson, they got soft and trusting and slipped, especially since the group didn't show signs of being a threat in the beginning. Joel was also overpowered, approaching or over 50 and vulnerable.

In conclusion: I had a great time. Not the best game of the year, but the best one I've played this year so far. You can see that Naughty Dog put a lot of heart and effort into this game, sometimes it just missed the mark a bit, but still on the board at least.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There is an amazing improvement in the gameplay since the first game. Lots of new features and ways to approach enemies. What I liked the most is the fact that many things felt intuitive for me as a player. My first approach to do something, like breaking a window into an empty building or using the cables to move around, was respected even though it wasn't the intended approach. Also, the graphics are stunning and they help a lot with the experience. The amount of animations for every single character and interaction with an object are incredible and diverse.

On the other hand I have mixed feelings about the story. Abby's story and carachter development is superb. We see her grow as a person and deal with her past in a very good way. I liked that the main characters died as they would die in the real world. Not dying as heroes fighting against ordes of zombies and enemies, but with a simple mistake that lead them to get shooted. Ellie's story was good, but I would liked more exploration in her relationship with Dina and the times she spent with Joel after the first game (Possible DLC), as well as more guitar moments. On Ellie's side I didn't like that her character limited to a vengeance story, which doesn't ressemble Joel's teachings to her or so. Also something had to happen with the fact that she's inmune, that was the whole plot of the first game.

Hope the next entry fixes this mistakes, but overall it was an excelent game.

The Last Of Us Part 2 had the unfortunate daunting task of living up to its magnificent predecessor that is widely regarded as one of the greatest games of all time.

Is The Last Of Us Part 2 better than the first game? In my opinion, No. But is that a bad thing? Again in my opinion, most certainly not.

When you play this game, you know it's a Naughty Dog game. It is a technical achievement to behold and everyone involved in making this game should be praised and applauded. Everything, the visuals, sound design, level design, performances, art direction, i can go on all of it is of the highest quality and I've come to expect this from Naughty Dog but they really blew me away with this one.

The thing that brings this whole game down for me though is the story. I think a sequel to the first game was absolutely justified due the circumstances in which the first game leaves off in however this is not the story i expected and it's not the story i wanted. This story lacks what made the first game so special, it lacks the touching intimate relationship between Ellie and Joel. There is a load of new characters introduced in this game and i found myself not caring for anyone other than Ellie, Joel and Tommy. These characters are introduced so early and so fast it was hard for me to care. Particularly Ellie's love interest Dina, she is superbly played Shannon Woodard and she has a great personality but her relationship with Ellie felt very forced and rushed compared to Ellie's relationship with Riley in the Left Behind DLC. Later in the game, some of the characters get that time to shine and you learn about their motivations but it's a fair bit into the game and for me it was too little too late. I commend Naughty Dog for going out there with this story, people are gonna love it and people are gonna hate it but it failed to work for me.

One last thing i have to mention. Me as gamer i gauge my game purchases based on trailers and what is shown, particularly when it comes to story trailers. I want to let people know with The Last Of Us Part 2's story trailers, it is not at all representative of the ENTIRE story you'll be playing. It does represent some parts of the game but not ALL. I understand why Naughty Dog did this however there are scenes in the trailers that do exist in the game but have different characters in the scenes than shown in the trailer. This is misleading and it is wrong, I really hope they know they screwed up on that front regardless on if it was done to keep parts of the game secret. You cannot mislead your playerbase like that or you will lose their trust.

Aside from the story and the trailer representation, this is a well put together game. The performances from the great actors, the stunning visuals and the gameplay really carried me through to the end of the game. It will be interesting to see if there'll be a sequel or not but nevertheless congrats to Naughty Dog for launching and i look forward to seeing what Naughty Dog does next.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Just finished the game and i gotta say im really disapointed in the way Naughty Dog executed the narrative for this game, it felt lackluster, uniteresing, boring, and just streight up dissapointing, lets start with the first 2 hours of the game when they kill off Joel in a pathetic way by someone who wanted to avenge her fathers death, ok great, after that scene the game just became a drag for me i didnt see the point in continuing but like all the critics where saying just give a shot wait, continue to play until the end, ok i gave it the shot and still left unimpressed, the first half of the game playing as Ellie was fine the wasnt a problem but it was just redundant and boring narritavely you eventually find out Dina is pregnant and so on and so forth, then comes the 2nd half of the game and in my opinion this should been DLC or something on its own its just wasnt timed right in my opinon, having to play the 2nd half of the game as Abby was just a drag and uninteresting i didnt find my self caring for any of those characters that where introduced except Lev and his sister yara that when it sort of got interesting, but besides that the deaths of these new characters did nothing for me i didnt feel for them because i hardly knew anything about them, what was there to be connected to? and don't even get me started with the final section of the game, overall it was just a drag I understand what naughty dog was trying to go for but it was executed poorly narratively and should be done a different way in my opinion if you're a fan of the first game you will be disappointed with this story narratively. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is OK. To have to even be saying this about my favourite franchise of all time is a letdown of its own. The game is stunning. From environmental detail to facial recognition and character animation it's all a leap in the right direction as far as technology goes. The gameplay itself is something i was pleasantly okay with. I also enjoyed gameplay from the first one and though they're quite similar in how they play, the second one has obvious improvements and doesn't feel as clunky. So of course we get to the storyline and character development. Unfortunately, this is where the game drops off tremendously for me. I can understand how they were trying to make me sympathise and care for the character that is abby and frankly, she isn't a terrible character. I even found myself enjoying some of her missions more than ellies as they were more creative and adrenaline fueled at times. I also enjoyed the implementation of yara and lev. I thought they were great flushed out characters with interesting enough plotlines. This however does not mask the fact that abby commits quite an unforgivable act on one of my favourite video game characters to date in what i see as an impossibly stupid scenario to be put into. I also REALLY disliked the times i was forced to chase down the likes of tommy and worst of all, beat the living hell out of ellie. This just made me extremely uncomfortable and i felt sick by the end of it to be completely honest. Not in a good way. To top this whole fiasco off, i didn't even get revenge in the end. After watching such an anti-climactic ending to an otherwise disappointing game as far as story takes it, i was left with a really sour taste in my mouth. You send ellie all the way to santa barbara after killing thousands of people along the way and she suddenly decided it wasn't the right thing to do? That makes 0 sense and it really highlights the measure of disappointment i had with the conclusion as ellie sat there in the water realizing she lost everything and got nothing in return. She deserves better than that and joel deserved better than he got. The infuriating part about it is that there are glimpses of quality writing and storytelling in here. The flashbacks that are littered throughout the game were awesome to play through. I just think you sacrificed a rock-solid foundation that is joel and ellie for a shaky, kindergarden built chair of a foundation that is abby. I don't know how you expected people to appreciate this game for what it is. It baffles me. What's done is done though. Graphics - 10/10

But each time i found the script wrong and wrong. joel did not deserve such a simple and brutal death. And also ellie's behavior has been shown very differently but still my favorite character is ellie. I officially hated abby I still think how he didn't die. I am so hateful to this end, I wish ellie was happy if only she was with dina. I'm so sorry for everything but the visuals were really amazing. and the only reason rate it high is visuals because it's a terrible end. Also, I do not want to say the name of the beloved screenwriter, I am very angry with him. To have sympathy and empathy for Abby, she had to exist since the first game, and when her father opposed the scalpel and joel had to protect herself and ellie. And I want to say that Abby got a lot from Ellie. When I finished the game, I said everything was in vain. the visuals are amazing, but the story is garbage.

Dont get me wrong this game is flawed but just when I read other peoples reviews they fail to go into depth with what the game is flawed in, so Im here to do exactly that and review the positives as well. I will try and be as unbiased as possible but this is still my personal opinion.

I would like to start off with talking about how the game looks. To me its one of the most gorgeous looking games out there and I personally think that its the most realistic looking one as well, at least for console games. Theres so many litte details everywhere things are placed in certain areas that really didnt need to be there but the devs went the extra mile with detail for this game. This gives the game a good amount of points although I do have some issues with the environment but that goes more into level design.

Now lets talk about the level design and combat
Sometimes I think its magnificent especialy early game! You have these great huge arenas to stealthily move around or to engage in huge firefigts with. The game wants you to get creative with the ways you take out enemies. Sometimes they'll plant infected in certain areas for you to lure them out. It gives you a ton of tools and lets you do what you please with them. Now for the combat there isnt much new to it besides being able to dodge and crawl but they expand on this to the best of their ability and its absolutely stellar for the most part. Now there are some areas of this game especially later on that begin to feel the same as all the others and with a 20+ hour game they start to run out of things to innovate on. I found myself growing tiresome of the combat later on in the game just because of how repetitive it became. This is an issue. Another issue that I ended up having with the level design of the game is that there can be to much fluff. The game begs you to go from one area to another and follow the characters all the way which can be great for putting you into the shoes of the character however this also adds certain segments of the game that could've just been cut entirely to make the game far less repetitive and more enjoyable. Another issue is that some areas can look climbable but in reality are not and can be largely misleading. Sometimes I felt the design didnt do a good job at guiding you where to go.

Now lets talk about the infamous story mode Ill try not to get into to much spoiler territory but be warned for minor ones
To me its deeply flawed but not for the same reasons people are saying. Ive noticed a lot of people saying that this game caters to much to the lgbt community and sjws because of the lesbianism and the fact that everyone thought Abby was a trans gender even though shes not. In reality this isnt even a proper critique of the game, I would say that if Abby was a trans and the game attempted to say that its ok to be trans and its ok to kill straight white men then yes it would be a proper critique but the game doesnt do any of this. There are 2 gay characters in the game and the game doesnt even have enough depth to explain why theyre gay! This is my biggest critique of the games story is that it lacks character depth. We see our characters find friends and families but at time the game seems to believe that the only way to develop a character is to make them somehow more charismatic when there not engaged with violence. It lacks a good amount of depth for most of the side characters. Even with Ellie its not clear as to why she latched on to her girlfriend and her ex. Now onto the actualy story and its themes. Something I actually liked about the game was its themes about revenge. Ive seen many people critique the themes for being to simplistic but does making themes of a game more complex really make the themes better? I think its how they choose to achieve these themes. I think the idea of making you kill certain characters and then putting you into the shoes of the friends of those said characters is an excellent way to cause guilt and empathy for these characters. Its very harsh and thats what I think a lot of people on here dislike about the game. They complain about the game being to sensitive and catering to the lgbt community and then complain about its insensitivity in killing a certain character. Its a bit hypocritical if you ask me. On to my next critique of the story. The lack of pacing that this game has can make it feel nauseating. I thought the game would end 3 hours earlier then it really did and at that point I was hoping for it. If theres one thing this game knows how to do its dragging. Now Im running low on characters but I didnt think that the story was god awful. It was a let down for sure but put this with the other pros and this can be a solid game that overstays its welcome

The review of the game that follows will include minor spoilers that will not ruin your game experience because I will not discuss the story plot or anything in detail.

The first thing bothered me was that the game had somehow a lazy introduction. I expected to be sucked in the game within few minutes just like I was when I played the first game. With the Part II that did not happen at all. The game starts with lazy (some cheesy too) dialogs and the main characters (Joel and Ellie) felt surprisingly dead somehow.

Within the first two hours of the game the story makes a sudden, very rush jump and I felt a bit shocked and had a lot of question marks in my head. Now, I am not one of those fans that can only accept the story with the happily-ever-after ending. I am fine with anything, the good or the bad, it does not matter how disgusting it is IF it serves the good and high quality story.

I honestly hoped for the next twenty hours to get to see the justification for the terrible event from the beginning of the game but I did not get it. Very soon I realised that Naughty Dog threw some lies and few truths through the marketing and trailers for this game.

The truth is that this game is indeed about the hate and revenge, an infinite circles of revenge by the few main characters and it tries to make players question what and who is good and who or what is bad. The only problem is that this game does it in a really cheap way. Part II also introduces not deeply developed new forgettable characters and some of those were kind of supposed to put a big shadow on the main characters that were represented as positive in the first game. Developers tried to do it by showing you the story (that has so many holes, way too many) from different perspectives (Ellie is not the only playable character). Generally, I do not have anything against that idea because if we look at Joel and his acts at the end of the first game, he is not really the bad guy but he certainly is not the good guy and a moral example either. I actually expected to see more about Joel in the Part II, especially about his life between the day of his daughter's death and the day when he met Ellie for the first time. I always thought that these twenty years of Joel's life could reveal something that will indeed make me question what is good and what is evil (even though I always saw Joel as a positive character despite everything). However, in the Part II there was nothing about that.

I am not quite sure what Naughty Dog wanted to do with this story. They basically turned everything upside down and put me in a situation to do stuff in the game that I really did not want to. As if the only goal was to make a player feel terrible. They succeeded at the end, the only thing is that I felt terrible because this was not the quality of the story that I have seen in the first game. It is far from it.

The reason why it was hard for me to get an opinion about this game is the fact that there are things in it that I enjoyed very much. The game looks fantastic. Wherever you go walking and exploring everything looks so good until the last detail. The landscapes, areas, sounds, colours…

The exploration parts in the game are now giving something like a semi-open world feel. Similar to the Uncharted: Lost Legacy that has one big area that you can explore by a car but in this game those areas are much bigger. For example, there is a part of Seattle where you can really spend two, three hours exploring, checking buildings for supplies and find stories about people that used to live there. If you are not up to such things you can avoid it all and proceed to the next area but you might probably miss some hidden weapons and such stuff. The game offers some sort of puzzles here and there but they are too simple and obvious.

The gameplay is basically the same as it is in the first game. There are some new weapons to use and craft. There are also few new types of enemies and some of those are not naive at all.

Speaking of enemies and combat, Part II does it significantly better than the first game. Infected are scarier and human enemy AI is much, much better. If you play on harder modes enemies can be really tricky. They hear you better and they really seek for you. Once they spot you can try to hide but not for long because they will seek for you even in the grass or under the cars. Enemies generally communicate with each other and they will often call names of their friends to check on them or scream when their friend has been shot. This makes enemy AI probably the best I have seen, especially on harder modes.

It is also worth mentioning that this is the most accessible game I have ever seen. It has a big optional menu where you can set almost every aspect of a gameplay. It even has options for people with damaged hearing or sight.

So, can good graphic, visual design, animations and gameplay save a game with a thin story?

    Hardly.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The hype for this game was very high. First installment was almost perfect in case of visuals, story etc. and the part 2 is also pretending to be as good as it's prequel except one thing: the story. Some narrative decisions were totally wrong for example how can you kill Joel that everybody loved with the golf club and force the audience to play as the character who did it?! For ten hours! I really liked the game, they improved mechanics, visuals and they,ve added some rpg elements like the half open Seattle area in the beginning of the game. It really looks like the next generation game but the story , LGBT propaganda and weird ending brings down the rating to 7/10. Hope you don't make the next game about Abby Naughty Dog. And my god it was so satisfying to be stealthy in this game. Expand

Se tiene que decir que es un juego increíble, los gráficos, jugabilidad, banda sonora, etc... Para mi el único apartado en el que es peor que en primero, es su historia.

Great game with a solid story, but lacks the pacing and focus of the original. The first game knew when to step off the gas and give the player a breather where this one has just one speed; full. Well worth a play. Storywise it wanders off its vengeance theme a little too often to really hit the mark as well as the original, but a strong cast of new characters makes it enjoyable nonetheless.

Of course I'm disappointed that they killed Joel in the first 2 hours of the game, and I don't like they try to make you feel why "Abby" did it and that you should be sorry for her. And they try to introduce us a lot of not needed female characters (god knows why). The story is not bad but really basic and predictable, it doesn't make sense that you don't feel sorry for the hundreds of people you killed but you do feel sorry for Abby and let her live, it just doesn't make sense. I was hoping for more character development with Jesse and Tommy, but they just died in one second with no regret (GIRLS AT POWEEEEER!!!!). It's a good game though, long and enjoyable. But not a 9.5 as the press said. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Here's my brutally honest review from someone who's favorite game of all time is The Last of Us: This is so heartbreaking to write. The Last of Us is the first game I really fell in love with. And I waited 4 years for a poor story and a **** ending. I enjoyed the game gameplay wise and this is one of the best games graphics wise that I have ever played. Now granted the first last of us is my favorite game of all time but the last of us 2 doesn't do the things the first game did great justice. Honestly the game overstayed its welcome. It took me 28 hours to complete the game really looking for all the collectibles and even got the trophy for exporing every place in downtown seattle. The plot wasn't great for the time you play with Ellie up until you play as Abby and then the story gets even worse. We loved the first game for it's story more than anything else. It's just sad to see how they treated this game. The characters are alright and out of all the new characters I liked Dina the most and Jesse was alright. I absolutely HATE Abby. The fact that we have to play with her after she killed Joel sucked ass. I don't care about her story and the whole time I was playing as Abby I was itching to play with Ellie. Even though you get all weapons and new upgrade branches it doesn't bring anything fresh. There's this plotline with Abby where you save these two kids and play with them but it feels like a side quest. There's also this one sex scene with Abby and this dude named Owen who you don't care about and you have to see their relationship unfold like we give a flying **** The scene feels so forced and they do it while Owen is dating this one chick who we also don't care about and she is pregnant. Based off what we've seen from Owen it just seems out of character. Everything seemed out of place and it goes on for far too long. The first games runtime seemed perfect and it never got boring because it had great pacing. The gameplay is fantastic though and feels really fluid and polished with a few things added with the game being much more open which I enjoyed. Another thing is that the game is oozing with atmosphere and it's one of the most atmoshperic games i've ever played especially with how good the sound design is. For a story based IP this game lacks in what made fans love it. I wouldn't be mad if naughty dog tried their luck in a new horror based IP because of how tense and atmospheric this game is. Also Neil Druckmann is an absolute horndog! Expand

It was a good game but by no means perfect. A little too long which made it a bit boring to play at times but the story made up for it i think. The characters Ellie, Abby, Lev and Yara nice. The rest of the characters were kinda forgettable.

If the games story had been put in a more logical way maybe the story score would have been higher. As it is you only really get to know some

If the games story had been put in a more logical way maybe the story score would have been higher. As it is you only really get to know some characters after youa lready killed them, lessening the impact of your actions.

Amazing graphics and sound design though, i was really surprised that there wasnt a single stutter or fps-drop.

7/10 would not play again because its too long. Nice game tho!

Those in between are people who are not blindly furious with the game or completely fanboying around it. The game is average, it kills that the best part of the game happens in the first quarter of the game and is a descent from there, with some ups being miles from those first 3 hours of the game and it doesn't help the best parts of the games after those spike the game hit in those 3 first hours are flashbacks with Joel. The gameplay itself would give this game a minimum score of 4. After those three hours, you start playing as Ellie hunting down the team that kills Joel and it looks like a common vengeance story, but about half the game Ellie starts to doubt her revenge after killing a member from the team who was pregnant and thinks it best to leave it behind and go back with the team, but she gets ambushed by Abby who kills one of the three likable new side characters and TA-DA ... Back to the start of the story and you start playing as Abby from the moment she killed Joel, and the game starts trying to make you feel some attachment to the characters YOU ALREADY KILLED as Ellie. You find out that Owen is another likable character but the fact you know he is going to die x days latter makes so hard to create a link to the character even tho he probably has a better development then the 2 main characters during his small screen time in this flashback Abby segment and the game would make a better job if it made you play as Abby first after killing Joel and starting care about those new characters and making killing then with the Ellie segment a harder thing to do/see. I will stop the review here. The game is not even close to the 0 to 4 I see here. But no way in hell and heaven its an 8+ game too, damn even a 7 is an stretch because those are for games that are almost there. All those critics reviews just dont want to lose those early review copies they get and give this game a high score for it. Expand

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
