    Terrible plot, Too many Flashbacks, Pointless Revenge lesson, Nothing new apart from graphic design perspective, Predictable cut scenes and Bad Execution. Its a perfect example that they tried to be too clever to blow people’s mind and i think they did accomplished it but in the wrong way!!

    Tlou was a great game, story,lore,graphics, judt amazing game. This game ruined everything they built, could have salvaged it with multiplayer since the only improvement is gameplay. Critics got this 1 wrong.

    It's a shame hackers leaked the story. I went in blind and completely loved it... one of the best games I've played this year and even better than the first.

    There are sections which felt straight up like they came out of a horror film... it was intense.     It felt like they mixed uncharted 4 with the last of us part 1. There are some great action setpieces which really helps break up the pace. There are parts where I felt like I was spending too much time stealthily taking down enemies and scavenging for supplies but before long I was outrunning clickers and or watching a cutscene.
    Loading times are quite short, there was hardly any pop in or framerate issues. The game ran really smoothly.
    The sound design in this game is from another world... it's unreal... sometimes I shot an enemy and they'd lie there screaming for help. Or I might cut someone's throat and then i'd hear them choking on their own blood... it was horrible but really helped create the sense that this world is brutal.

    Brutal is a word which defines this game. Some parts were hard to play through. I found myself shouting at my tv towards the end. Overall it's just an unforgettable experience and one which you shouldn't miss out on.

    also I hope metacritic goes through and trims out some of these troll reviews. Right now the user score is way too low. The game has been out for like four days and according to psn only 7.7% of players have finished it so many people here (many of them on the very day the game released) have given it a zero. I imagine a lot of this is down to bots as well. Just play the game yourself and you'll see it's something special :).    … Expand

    I just don't know how I feel about this game...I was here for Ellie and Joel, but the story was taken on such a strange tangent, I didn't enjoy playing as Abby, I know they wanted to show that she was just like Ellie, but I had spent the whole first game with Ellie and Joel, and fell in love with them, I wanted to continue THEIR story, not some new character, the message of the cycle ofI just don't know how I feel about this game...I was here for Ellie and Joel, but the story was taken on such a strange tangent, I didn't enjoy playing as Abby, I know they wanted to show that she was just like Ellie, but I had spent the whole first game with Ellie and Joel, and fell in love with them, I wanted to continue THEIR story, not some new character, the message of the cycle of violence was lost as we spent the whole game brutally killing randoms without a second thought....the first game had much more heart, I was disappointed to be separated from Ellie and Joel, the game trying to be clever just didn't work, really wish this had been a different story. :(… Expand

    I was originally gonna say that this game was mediocre, which for me would be a 5, but that would be a dishonest reflection of my experience with this game. After 24 hours of all this game has to offer, I couldn't bring myself to play the 2 or so hours I needed to finish. Put simply, it was not an experience I enjoyed. There were pieces of a game I would've liked scattered within the messI was originally gonna say that this game was mediocre, which for me would be a 5, but that would be a dishonest reflection of my experience with this game. After 24 hours of all this game has to offer, I couldn't bring myself to play the 2 or so hours I needed to finish. Put simply, it was not an experience I enjoyed. There were pieces of a game I would've liked scattered within the mess of the painstakingly rendered brutality, but those scenes accounted for 2 hours out of the 24 at the absolute most.

    The game's problem isn't "SJW propaganda" or anything like that. It has progressive themes, but it's not as in your face about it as many would have you believe. Do I care about the game's progressive choices when I don't enjoy it? No.

    The game is the most realistically rendered on the PS4. The amount of detail put into making the environment and characters as visually realized as they are should be commended. Does this save me from how depressing the game is to play? No, but it's a major reason why I could put up with it for so long. Unfortunately, the level of detail was also part of what made it so depressing. Any non-zombie deaths in this game are hard to take part of without completely shutting off your empathy.

    There's a similar argument to be made for the sound. It's wonderful in terms of the score and the sounds of all the weapons, but if a non-zombie dies, the game's audio is a huge part of what makes murder so brutal.

    The gameplay is similar mechanically to the first game, but the levels are more expansive and the AI are somewhat coordinated. Usually the agency in how you tackle a level would be great, but I could never skip the fights thanks to the confusing, labyrinthian layout of each one.

    The story is downright weird. There are times where it's great, but there are more times where the story is predicated on hard-to-believe coincidence or barely existant to begin with. Given how airtight the first game was, I have no clue how this happened.

    If Neil Druckmann doesn't want to use the word "fun", fine. But there were too few points where I felt immersed enough to appreciate it, much less have fun. I could play the final parts of the first Last of Us because I was invested in the story. I could understand the character even when I didn't agree with them AND THANKS TO how invested I was, I could see it through. That second part is obviously important somehow, because I could play through what was a way more catastrophic choice in the first game, while in this game the stakes are drastically lower and I've had to put it down for good. The accessibility options are great, though. That's something that's great, and I hope more games do that.

    I wish I liked this game. If you think you will, don't let me stop you. But whatever your stance, take your time to consider those with the opposing views. No one's an enemy of anyone here. We just wanna play games, and I think we all forget that sometimes.    … Expand

    What game were they playing? This is nothing short of a masterpiece. If you played the first game and fell in love with the characters then you will find no shortage of tear jerker moments. The action is great, the characters as strong as ever and the story is engaging as hell. Screw your 4 star ratings. Actually play the damn thing and stop being biased.

Шикарный геймплей, с возможностью тонкой настройки сложнотеева, для любого стиля игры. Именно благодоря таким продуктам , игры имеют право называться искусством. I really didn't think TLOU needed a sequel but somehow it told a story that left even more of an emotional impact than the 1st.     The plot of Tlou 2 is very mature which requires a lot of patience and understanding and I think that is why the rating is like that.

    I think that I've never experienced emotions as I experienced with this game, this game made me express every kind of emotion there is but Anger and sadness was the main emotions for me

    The mechanics were amazing, the sneaking and the mele combat absolutely crazy.

    There is no need to talk about the visuals who was outstanding.

    As a con, I would say that the game was a little bit to long and quite frustrating during the end, could end 2-3 hours before the actual ending.

    But with that said it is still a masterpiece, and I'm very glad I had the chance to play it, great job Naughty Dog for this Piece of art , can't wait to play your next game.    … Expand

    So 0/10 is I think fair score for this game.
    Really don't understand what was the end goal for Naughty Dog here, seems like they took inspiration from SW: the Last Jedi, movie that subverted our expectations with no payoff, basically this is the same, the Last of Us 2 subverts our expectations with no payoff.    … Expand

Like, it's dark. HELLA DARK! And not everyone's into this theme hence, divisive... Personally, i quite liked the story but the ending was the WORST and downright sucked!     A magnificent piece of art. I recommend it to everyone. ND is one of the industry's standard. 10/10 easy. I'm satisfied with how it ended and I wouldn't want a pt3. How about a new IP you naughty dog!

    This game pisses me off so much. It's a game that defecates on the original. The biggest reason is practically the messed up story. They killed Joel in the stupidest way possible, you spend hours doing parkour and looting, you have to spend ten hours as Abby, and you receive a disappointing ending that makes the entire adventure useless.

    I decide to play on (because I have paid for....) but I regret that now. It destroys all of my sympathy and empathy for the characters and that for each of them. It destroys everything.

    Now there is only emptiness.

    @ NaughtyDog: You did'nt trigger anything in my but frustration. The so called story is nothing but an moralizing pathetic drama, a permanently forefinger raised. Believe me, you ruined not only TLOU, you ruined much for the game industries.

    Beside of this there are a lot incomprehensible logical gaps in the game/story that make the experience even worse.

    The role of the "islanders" obese completely open, all said in the game are empty phrases.

It's essentially one of the best thought-out story ever written in any form of media. Gameplay wise it has the same tone but it's much more evolved. The AI is vastly improved.     Whoever gives this game a 0 is braindead but whoever gives this game a 10 is also braindead, this games graphics,gameplay, and voice acting is superb. But the story is not the best. It's a revenge plot and one of the characters (no spoilers) is done dirty. so im subracting 3 points for sub par story mode.

The ending literally makes no sense, not only she didn’t get any justice for Joel, she lost 2 fingers. Good job, Naughty Dog! Here’s a suggestion to save this game from flopping. Make part 3 with Ellie woken up, and all the stuffs that happened during part 2 was just a dream.     The Gameplay is most like in TLOU 1, but with many Quality-of-Life Improvements and better Gunplay. The Feedback is a blast when you fire a Shot with the Revolver or hit Enemys with an Arrow. The most polarizing part in this Game is the Story. For me personally, it’s realistic and a useful Story in the Franchise. It’s not TLOU 2, it’s Part 2, like written in the Title, it’s the further Course of one big Story and that‘s feelable and well made.

    Simply put, it doesn't deserve Game of the Year: the graphics are actually atrocious, I have taken several screenshots to reflect that; textures of leaves, plants, roots, tiles, books, some electronics are literally DRAWN and 1-dimensional, reminiscent of Ps3 days. The lighting is terrible, Metro Exodus pulled off Ray Tracing, how the hell did Naughty Dog who brag about their graphics notSimply put, it doesn't deserve Game of the Year: the graphics are actually atrocious, I have taken several screenshots to reflect that; textures of leaves, plants, roots, tiles, books, some electronics are literally DRAWN and 1-dimensional, reminiscent of Ps3 days. The game is not even open world and there are a dozen of better looking games like Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War (2018), Days Gone (which is a much better version of this game), Metro Exodus --- like how is TLOUP2 not even 4k? If you are sitting there with a 48', 50', 55'' or larger screen, I feel sorry for you.

    Gameplay, boring, an absolute chore. Somehow I can't believe that after spending years at a camp, that the characters will only have 1 or 2 bullets in their inventory, and the fact that melee weapons break so easy is hysterical. Like sure, I get that it increases the challenge, but this isn't the early 2010's where games can't find better ways to increase the challenge. A steel pipe or wrench simply won't snap in half after hitting a decaying corpse/clicker.

    Sound: no complaints

    Characters, well everyone knows the plot at this point, and I cant say I agree with what the game director thought was a good idea to kill a certain character, even staff at Naughty Dog questioned this. Stupid decision where the game designer tries too hard to be like Michael Bay or Ridley Scott. This is a game, we grow to love characters, we want to be able to control them, not have them and all the hours we spent on them, eliminated from the game leaving us only a teenager to control, like WTF.

    3/10 OR 30/100 - I wonder which reviewers PlayStation paid to give this game a good rating. Because it certainly did NOT deserve to win GOTY over Ghost of Tsushima, Hades, Doom Eternal -- games that actually went all out with quality and didn't cut corners or completely ruin the plot.    … Expand

The immense quality of animation and the most dynamic range of graphics the PS4 can offer. The story, although sometimes fatigue inducing over a 25-30 hour experience focused on plot, the narrative still for me is an overwhelmingly great feat. The cast all round do a great job of humanising their actions and making you torn between loving and hating them. Stand out characters would be Shannon Woodward's 'Dina', Ian Alexander's 'Lev' and of course Ashley Johnson as Ellie, Troy Baker as Joel and Laura Bailey as Abby in the lead roles. This game shouldn't be missed regardless of what you think you might know, you won't know till you see it for yourself.… Expand

    This is a terrible game. The original was a decent game with a good plot which dealt with themes like family and loyalty which resonated because although it was a brutal world, the story was essentially one of love and redemption and taking one’s destiny into their own hands and finding hope and a reason to fight even in an ugly world. This is literally the opposite of that. Fun times.

    The graphics is good and that's the only positive. Boring, repetitive gameplay. Disgusting characters. But the plot is the worst part, and I've heard that it only gets worse later.

    The game is years ahead of its time and it’s quite disturbing to see so many negative reviews just based on prejudice, it just makes the game that much important and necessary. The game is a gorgeous masterpiece, it doesn’t deserve the sexist and homophobic cohort of people trying to take from its shine. One of the best things I played. 10/10

Also, the character that kills him, we have to play as?! Why play as an unlikeable character? One plus of the game, the graphics are amazing! The gameplay, not so much.     I honestly don’t understand the hate this game is getting. I loved it. Though the game does suffer with some pacing issues in my opinion I thought it was beautifully done. The game is loaded with some raw and gut wrenching action. I often found myself yelling at the screen during some unbelievable jaw dropping moments. So when I heard they were making Part 2 I was nervous where they’d take these characters... While thisIt’s pretty hard to argue that The Last of Us was anything but sheer brilliance. Beautiful graphics that really pushed the boundaries of the gen, engaging characters who I grew to love and an amazing story with the perfect end. So when I heard they were making Part 2 I was nervous where they’d take these characters... While this game is very beautiful the gameplay doesn’t feel much different from the first game, which isn’t a bad thing but it does become very repetitive and gets quite boring when you’re exploring these needlessly big areas full of loot. The gunplay is still quite janky and the stealth kills very quickly become a rinse and repeat process. The main problem with this game is the absolute butchery and bastardisation of the characters and story we have come to love. Within the first 2 hours we see the beloved Joel beaten to death by Abby while Ellie watches sending her on a rage fuelled revenge mission. Not only does Joel and Tommy save Abby when they randomly stumble across her in a blizzard, they disregard all the things they learnt from the first game when they trustingly wander into an unknown camp and introduce themselves. It’s a hard first few hours and if you manage to get past the sudden betrayal of Joel you’d think the worst is over, but it is far from over... The game sends you as Ellie on this revenge mission to kill Abby and her followers and you spend the next few hours exploring and cutting people down left and right, before you’re forced to play as Abby for what seems like far too long, in hope that you’ll understand and reason with her of why this random npc caved Joel’s skull in. The end is where you truly lose all hope for this game. Ellie has lost friends and killed hundreds on her hunt for Abby, as she finally fights her and loses a few fingers in the process she has a flashback of Joel and now decides revenge is bad... letting Abby go. I mean seriously?! What? It seems that this really all was for nothing. Ellie returns home, a couple of fingers down and short a good few friends and lover and you sit and think what the hell have I accomplished over the last 25 hours? It wouldn’t surprise me if in part 3, Abby digs up Joel’s corpse and **** him before giving the finger to the camera and dabbing. Do yourselves a favour, don’t play this betrayal.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us: Part II is an undoubtedly story-based game. So my review will be focused almost entirely on the story. The gameplay is incredibly similar to the first with added movement options and different enemy types. Instead of following in the steps of its predecessor, the sequel throws away much of its character-development, atmosphere, and world-building for the sake of adding a playable antagonist. Despite early news promising the development of Ellie and Joel's bond, the latter is killed in the prologue of the game by said antagonist. Instead of naturally becoming a revenge story, the writers try their hardest to make the player emphasize with Abby - something incredibly difficult to accomplish if the player developed a connection to the protagonists from the first game. Characters close to Ellie die or abandon her unceremoniously throughout the course of the game in scenes that seem more reliant on shock value than good writing. Those who die are always taken out by Abby, and you'll occasionally play as her for these scenes. At the ending, Ellie saves Abby's life before challenging her to one last fight. Despite having two of her fingers bitten off in the struggle, Ellie gets the upper hand and is all set to drown the woman who has taken everything from her. With a brief vision of Joel flashing through her mind, she makes a disappointing decision to let go of Abby and allow her to get away. At the end of the day, Ellie is left with nothing. The player has gained nothing. The central issue that pervades the entire story is characters acting unlike themselves. Tommy and Joel give their names and home location to an armed group they just met. Jesse, who has been shown to have a level head, rushed through a closed door into a room that could have had any amount of hostiles. He was, of course, immediately shot in the head and killed. Ellie murdered possibly hundreds in her quest to kill Abby, and not only untied her, but she also challenged her to some strange form of honorable combat before letting Abby go free. It is not good writing. It's characters acting completely unpredictable just for something terrible to happen. It's like they can't create shock value without making someone act like an idiot. Lastly, there is no joy in The Last of Us: Part II. Not if you came into it with the previous characters in your heart. Every beloved character is dragged through the dirt constantly with no moments of reprieve. It's one miserable scene after the other. The only "uplifting" moments tend to happen when the player is controlling Abby. At the end of the day, there is no satisfaction for the player. None for Ellie. None for Joel, Tommy, Jesse, or Dina. You don't get your adventure with Ellie and Joel. You don't get your revenge. You don't get a glimpse of the hope for a better future that was present in the first game. It's devoid of hope. The only thing you get at the end of the day is a message that revenge is bad, but it falls flat once you realize that the only person who got their vengeance is the one that came out on top.… Expand

The game, in principle, did not need a sequel, since the answers were given, and the points were set. Yes, there was an open finale, but there was a completion. Heroes went their own way.

Characters in TLOU2 by contrast to are too one dimensional with dialogue equality matching their characterization. By setting up a revenge plot early on in the game, the gameplay becomes a boring quest of getting from A to B, clearing out NPCs and figuring out exits.     The game gifts an unlikeable character that only proves how a potentially good story can be burdened with cheap shock value and the death of beloved characters, yes the game was divisive, between the people who loved the first game and the paid reviewers from the specialized media, too bad we can’t kill the self insert of you-know-who

    The game is cool, they tried on it, everything is cool and gameplay and graphics and mechanics, there is no such elaborate game.

    Some of the best gameplay and graphics of all time. Very cool!! Idk if it’s 10/10 worthy but the majority of the people giving this game 0 haven’t even played the game yet and just decided to give it a 0 before it even came out. The reviews are full of pure hate, spoilers, homophobia so be careful.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
