This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Graphics, game play and acting are amazing, I think the game suffers from an inconsistency between the promise and the pay off. I took the promise as revenge, but they attempt to substitute the payoff but don't stick the landing.

I believe they attempted to make me want a forgiveness payoff by showing me the costs of revenge, but while I came to care about Abby, I never cared enough about her or her friends to compare to Ellie/Tommy's satisfaction of taking revenge. Take Mel, who I found pretty unlikable in “the other person” role to Abby (who is also “the other person” so there are no winners) and didn't have much of a personality. I felt bad when she died because she was pregnant, not because I liked her. I became more, not less, okay with it during Abby’s story, since I liked her less as I got to know her. I feel like the game wanted me to not want anyone to die but I only cared about Ellie’s friends, Lev and Yara.

I feel like the forgiveness pay off didn’t stick since they didn’t tease it throughout the story. To me, it doesn’t fit Ellie’s character arc to let Abby go, even if they have players frustrated approval by making us sufficiently depressed by the end fight and presented Abby as having suffered enough. Particularly since the Joel flashback didn’t coach against revenge, just showed that Ellie was ready to forgive Joel. Forgiving Joel doesn’t necessarily impact Ellie and Abby’s story. If anything, it should piss Ellie’s character off more since she never got to rebuild with Joel and rarely forgives.

I feel like they criminally underutilized Joel and gave him a poor death that made Abby irredeemable in the players eyes. I had nowhere to put how much I hated that Joel was dead, except to point that at Abby. That then makes it unsatisfying to end up caring about Abby since you know you don’t want to, particularly since not caring would make like 15 hours of gameplay boring and frustrating. I feel like they could’ve made it grey by having something like Joel saving Abby when she’s coming to kill him, and he gets bitten in the process. Abby then not wanting to kill Joel since he saved her. Then Abby or Ellie (for maximum depressive effect) kill Joel at his request. Then Tommy and Ellie get blinded by rage at Abby for creating the situation and have to process Joel's death and unintentional sacrifice through the story. At least that way there would be some decent reason that he was dead and that killing Abby would negate Joel’s sacrifice. It also wouldn't make the player want to hate Abby. Could even have them make up and work together in a climax against Wolves, Scars and Infected all fighting at once. That might’ve delivered players the forgiveness substitution and capitalized on it for an awesome final battle.

In my opinion, the general story stumbles at the start, with Joel's death lacking meaning or build up, and I was unsatisfied to see that they didn’t build on it with flashbacks. The idea of Ellie’s revenge story is satisfying but they quickly get the threads tangled with Dina’s pregnancy, Jesse being back in the picture, trying to save Tommy, and hunting down the group that killed Joel. It seems like the first act pay off they finally settle for is “life is complicated and gets in the way”. Which is true, but it shouldn’t mean that they don’t satisfy story points. It’s also a lame climax.

I get that the game is supposed to be a difficult story, but tLoU was difficult and satisfying. Likable, if tortured, characters had meaningful relationships and lived their stories in a way that was satisfying because it fit their character. Joel became the father we always wanted him to be as positive payoff, and had the hospital breakout as the consequence. Ellie grew to love and trust someone as positive payoff, and accepts Joel’s lie as the consequence. That’s classic “yes but..” storytelling.

I think tLoU2 suffered with too many weak arcs. What was Jesse’s arc? Seems like he’s just in there to be a decent bloke and then die for dramatic effect. Tommy wants Abby dead, fails, so sends Ellie years later when revenge has cost him his health and marriage. That’s not much of an arc. Ellie was revenge driven, then moves past it, then can't move on, and then seemingly moves on for no reason other than player payoff. Abby grows to understand that Scars are people too (a fight we don’t really have a bone in) then gets tortured for Joel/revenge unrelated reasons.

The game promised me that Abby would pay for Joel’s death. Then didn’t show character progression to realize that promise. Then attempted a payoff substitution without putting in the work with arcs. Just making sense to the player isn’t enough, actions that don't fit a character's arc are unsatisfying. It all seems to contradict the bold choice in tLoU, to be given the ending that the arcs take you to. Kinda feel like they missed why tLoU was so satisfying

Let’s address the elephant in the room first: there’s little doubt that this game’s prominent LGBT characters have led many professional reviewers to rate this game much higher than it deserves. My problem with this game isn’t that the playable characters are all women, or that it has LGBT characters. My problem is that the game is too long (around 25 hours), but the gameplay is not challenging or varied enough to keep it interesting.

The appeal of Last of Us was the story: the relationship between Joel and Ellie. The gameplay was OK, not great, but the game only lasted 12 or so hours. This game is double the length, and retains all the same core gameplay elements as the first one. About 15 hours in, it just started to feel tedious. Another abandoned building to search for supplies, another group of infected or human enemies to fight using the same tactics. There’s almost no variety here. The story is OK, but nowhere near as compelling as the first. A big reason for this is that half the game is spent as the new character, Abby. There’s no getting around the fact that we simply don’t care about her as much as we do Ellie. In addition, the human groups in this game are thinly sketched. There is very little information on how these groups formed, their purposes/intents/beliefs, why they are fighting each other, etc. It’s all very vague and very thinly sketched. One group seems to be vaguely power-hungry, the other a bunch of religious zealots whose beliefs are barely explored at all beyond vague gesturing to their “prophet.” This religious group is also the hook for the introduction of the trans character: the trans character was a member of the religious group, but fled because they wouldn’t accept her. That’s about as uncompelling, standard Hollywood fare/boilerplate as you can get. It

It seems clear now that Last of Us should have been a standalone game. It did not need a sequel and this game is nowhere near as interesting as the first one. My advice would be, don’t waste your time.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is probably the biggest mixed bag you could ever find. On one hand, it makes insane technical innovations, with some of the best graphics I’ve ever seen, and on the other hand its game play systems barely evolve past its predecessor title from 2013. Immense care is put into the environments and acting, yet points of the story seem to have been thrown together with no thought of logic or pacing. For about every pro one can find for this game, there’s a con that drags that pro down, and makes this game, to me at least, abhorrently meh, and insanely disappointing.

For a narrative focused action game sequel such as The Last of Us Part II, my 10 point system reads as such:

    Narrative

Structure/Writing, 0/2: The revenge format the story was aiming for here failed miserably. Ellie’s half of the game is over reliant on coincidence, Macguffins, and long travel times to the next narrative beat, which causes it to suffer from poor pacing. Abby’s half focuses on an underdeveloped war and redemption arc which are detached from Ellie’s story. These factors cause the conflict between the game’s two main characters to be shoved to the background, with them only ever intersecting at the beginning and ending of the game, with the mostly detached story of the middle feeling like a chore. By the time you get back to the story you care about in the last hours of the game, you’ll feel so exhausted you might not even want to suffer through it.

Characters, 0/2: Not a single character is executed well in this game. The game ignores the fact that the Fireflies were a band of terrorists to portray Joel’s attack against them as an irredeemable act. Ellie is a psychotic murderer who voices multiple times she doesn’t think what she is doing is right, yet continues to kill hundreds of people so she can kill Abby (which she abandons in the end, making one question why she killed all those people just to give up over killing one more.) Abby is also a psychopath who willingly joins a war she has no stake in, tortures people for pleasure, and enables a drunk man to cheat on his pregnant girlfriend, and yet the player is supposed to somehow root for her. Finally, Tommy is a bumbling fool who tells his identity to complete strangers, becomes a Macguffin for Ellie to chase for half the game, and ends his role in the game by guilt-tripping Ellie into abandoning her family to become his personal hitman. Because every character devolves into a sadistic or unrecognizable person throughout the game, it’s very hard to root for/get invested in the struggles of any of the characters.

Narrative Cohesion with Part 1, 0/1: The problem with creating a sequel to an open-ended moral dilemma is that your narrative will have to take a side in a debate that has no correct answer. Due to this, the game handpicks narrative elements from Part I to try and manipulate the audience to its agenda, forcing the characters within the story to commit acts that conflict with their past experiences. My best example is that of Ellie, who was so repulsed at killing only 2 people in Part 1 (in self defense might I add), that she went into a state of shock and self loathing for months. After 4 years of living in peace, Ellie suddenly has a switch flip in her brain, and she becomes okay with blowing the brains out of people she’s never met and pose no threat to her.

    Gameplay + Design

Gameplay, ½ points: The game possesses an excellent stealth system, and has satisfyingly brutal combat that makes one feel immersed in the grounded world of TLOU. What drags this section down a point in the looting sections in-between, and the overall length of the game. The looting is just boring inventory management, and the combat doesn’t evolve enough to stay fresh as you enter the mid to late game, making the late game feel especially dull.

Graphics, Sound, Controls, 1/1: Not much to say here. It looks, sounds, and feels fantastic. It’s pretty common knowledge at this point.

Innovation, ½: As a sequel, I expect many new features that weren’t in Part 1, especially with the 7 years and budget Naughty Dog had to work with. I give them half credit in this department, for while the game makes great strides in the game’s AI, immersion, and direction, there’s a severe lack of additions in gameplay. Besides being flashier, the gameplay experience is almost identical to the original. Two of the biggest innovations advertised for this game are its jump and prone buttons. I’ll let you judge that for yourself.

    In Summary,

Narrative: 0/5, Messy writing, laughable pacing, and unlikable characters make this game’s story intolerable.
Gameplay/Design: ⅗, Beautiful world design and brutal gameplay leave strong first impressions, but fail to maintain their power over the long runtime due to a lack of innovation.

Overall: 3/10, A hollow narrative without the gameplay to keep it afloat

I loved this game. I've never written a review for anything before. Not a yelp review, or an amazon purchase, nothing at all. But this game. My god. I honestly don't know where to begin.

I loved this game. I've never written a review for anything before. Not a yelp review, or an amazon purchase, nothing at all. But this game. My god. I honestly don't know where to begin.

I would be lying if I said that I wasn't disheartened when I found out people were bombing this game on review sites, in some cases before people had a chance to even play the game out in its entirety. And I suppose that's partly why I'm writing this, but I digress. Let's get into it.

I loved TLOU, and I can honestly say that TLOU2 was even better. Make no mistake; I was pissed when the anti-hero was initially introduced and did the deed that must not be named. I put down my controller after it happened and contemplated whether or not I even wanted to continue playing. But I'm so happy that I did.

Naughty dog takes you on a journey in this game, one in which you start off absolutely despising a character, and initially you feel that this hatred is wholly justifiable. You want them dead, and by Ellie's hands no less. Or maybe you feel like it should never have happened in the first place, that it was just a trite plot point intended to illicit superficial emotions that doesn't make sense or go anywhere. I know I did. I couldn't see how naughty dog could redeem this character, ease the pain of what happened, or in any way provide some kind of resolution that would be satisfying enough. But the story goes on, whether you want it to or not. And boy does naughty dog deliver.

I don't want to spoil anything so i'll try my best to be vague, but the journey you go on with Ellie and her nemesis breaks you. Like, it seriously messes you up. The supporting cast is brilliant, each serving as not just a means to further the plot, but to also change and help develop the main characters' psyches in a way that doesn't feel forced or superfluous. And I appreciated the diversity. I'm not straight, or white, and it was nice to see some representation. I NEED to stress, however, that I never felt like it was heavy handed, or put in the game just to appease the SJW's or whatever. They served a purpose, supporting the main characters growth, allowing them to see that the world isn't black and white (no racial pun intended).

Both of the main characters are instinctive, their decisions often rash and fueled by revenge, and it takes time for them to realize that the path they tread on may not lead them to where they want to go. They make mistakes, they falter, but you root for them - both of them - because you genuinely care for them. You mourn with them when they suffer loss, and you cheer for them when they overcome the most dangerous obstacles. These characters are not coins with only two sides. They're multifaceted, complex characters that yank you from both arms and don't let go until you're emotionally exhausted. Eventually, the lines blur. Who is really in the wrong here? Is there even a "right"?

This is where I throw my hands up in praise for naughty dog. They shove you into a long, painful, beautiful, traumatic, heartstring-pulling journey, and just when you think there can't be any more to it, they shank you and then quickly patch you up for some more. This game was an emotional journey, one I couldn't stop thinking of for weeks after I had finished it. I'm almost ready for a replay, maybe in a few weeks.

Finally, a few words on the cinematography and gameplay: gorgeous and fluid. That's all. Play this game. Keep an open mind. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.

The graphics where absolutely stunning Played this later than most people had too swerve every spoiler. While trying to read how people felt about it, it was emotional thought Joel's death was the most heartbreaking as I did not expect it to be so brutal, hating abby for what she did and theoretically killing Joel myself with how I controlled abby into meeting up with joel.
But thought I felt Ellie in her journey and when I thought it was over it was abbys turn to show me her side of the story wow id never fought id understand what she had gone through. Even to the point where I was like " Ellie don't leave your family to get her just settle down now its what joel would of wanted" The story on the whole was no where near the same as the first TLOU but thats because they both had two different emotions behind them. Id love to replay this game but joels death was to heartbreaking maybe one day when I can let it sink in,really was an emotional ride I felt for each character and there journeys.

You should definitely give it a try because it's worth a shot, even if don't like the story a lot (if you are too carried away), you will definitely like the Gameplay, the graphics, the sound effects and every other aspect of the game and yeah the accessibility of the game is fab you can customise almost every bit of the game, from the shape of the retical to the health and intelligence of the enemies. And also the weapon upgrade scenes are very fascinating. Do consider this review. Thank you for your time for reading. HAPPY GAMING!! Expand

If you want the story to be like the first game, than go to play the first game! If you only want a developer that goes all "fan service" than it's not the right game for you; just go play some game with a simple storyline like GoT, got it?

If you love Joel and Ellie from the first game, youre shocked when you play this game because they lose literally everything. All i wanted was a continuation of their relationship based off the ending of the first, but its barely touched upon. Meanwhile the other half of the game is playing as a new character and trying to get you to grow and like this character, but shes boring along with the characters they introduced with her story. I loved all the characters, even the ones that we didn't get to know too much about before they left the narrative, or died. This game has done everything in reverse. They may have created a beautiful game with more enemies and characters and mechanics, but the story is ridiculous and contradictory, and not in any intelligent or progressive way; the characters are bland and I cant find myself caring about any of them, as there is no reason to, especially since they die and no one cares, including myself. I could go on and on about how they butchered Joel, Ellie, Tommy, and the idea of overarching villains, but there isn't really any reason at this point in time due to the attention that the game has received in correspondence with the horrible choices the creators made. I bought the game to see for myself whether the game was as bad as people were claiming cause I had faith that Naughty Dog was better than all the other game companies like Blizzard, Ubisoft, etc, but I was wrong, and altough I know now for sure for myself I also can justify the 60$ I spent on this game at all. I preferred the mess of the Left Behind dlc to this cause at least I actually liked Riley and her relationship with Ellie. All I can say for Dina is that she is pretty, her personality is nonexistent and her "chemistry" with Ellie is presumed by the creators as if that's how friendships/romances work. Side note: The guitar scene with dina and Take Me On went on for way too long, and I feel that it sums the game up perfectly. The dev's try to force emotions onto the player but it comes off fake, awkward, and empty. Also, Abby. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I created an account just for this game because it needs some love. The Last Of Us Part 2 is one of the most ambitious games of all time. It’s uncomfortable to play in all the best ways. It's a tale about wrath, forgiveness, hate and how emotions can cause people to lash out in anger. Ironic considering the backlash this game has garnered. The plot focuses on Ellie as she seeks vengeance against a girl named Abby after witnessing someone close to her murdered. We witness her go through everyone responsible. Then, after an altercation with Abby, developer Naughty Dog, throws a massive curveball. You now have to play as her! We discover Abby’s reasons for what she did and play through her attempts to regain some humanity. Right off the bat let’s address the big, massive, humongous elephant in the room. Playing as Abby after killing a beloved character is difficult. You want nothing more than for Ellie to put a bullet between her eyes. Yet Naughty Dog managed to get me to Empathise with her. Showing that a heroic act for someone can be a villainous act for another. For instance there’s this mission with a sniper. If you’ve played any third person shooter you know the deal. You can’t fire back, all you can do is get closer to them. They attract infected and make you take a ton of damage. You instinctively start to despise this sniper. However when you confront them. You realise it’s actually a character you like. It’s details like this that make The Last Of Us Part 2 special. Expand

Fantastic sound design, thrilling gameplay at times (not too innovative but they refined what worked in the first game), great soundtrack, wonderful graphics and animations. Also big props to the programmers and game designers for creating these many different approach options in enemy encounters. BUT The Last Of Us is a story-driven game and therefore the focus of this review should be on story too. The new title also claims to be a sequel to the well beloved first installment, but I have to disagree. This is not a sequel. This is a big fat middlefinger to the first game and everyone who loved it. Where the first game was about overcoming grief as a father and finally finding someone to love and care for again, therefore ultimately the relationship between Joel and Ellie, the second one takes all these wonderful things and completely throws them out the window to tell a tale we've all heard a hundred times if not more. Whoever these characters are supposed to be, they're not the protagonists of the former game. Not the characters we were all so excited to meet again after waiting 7 years for it. These are just empty vessels, puppets pulled by Neil Druckmann, who completely ran this game into the wall blinded by his "incredible revenge story "vision. I had to force myself to play through I'd say 60% of the sequences in this game. There were some slivers of greatness but they were drowned out by the overall dulling down of the character's senses (people who were rather smart both logically and emotionally before, act like highschool teenagers in classic 80s horror movies now), the absolutely confusing derivation of the many many timelines, the reasoning behind the writer's decision making is very hard to follow. My understanding is the wanted to tell a very profound revenge story. But they way they went at this, I would not call this a story at all and certainly not a worthy successor to the first Last Of Us. I had high hopes for this, I ignored the leaks and ducked the spoilers thinking "Only douchebags would leak and spoil like that.." and now after having to force myself to play through the epilogue I realized, someone wanted to warn us of this absolute pile of garbage that is being marketed as a masterpiece. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A middle of the road score for a middle of the road movie masquerading itself as a game. I swear that after a battle between Ellie and the main antagonist, there was a 20+ minute cinematic of Ellie in her new life with only little bits of walking around to "herd the goats" or, having killed a rabbit (in the scene) walking back to the farm where she lives. That was the only control you had.

The graphics and music score are amazing and if the game play lived up to them, it would easily be a 10/10. But they don't. And it isn't.

I care about Ellie and Joel. I spent 15+ hours with them in the first game and wanted to see how things progressed with them again and Naughty Dog had a great opportunity to do so. The story could so easily have been Ellie finding out what Joel did at the end of the first game, running off and Joel chasing after her to bring her home. Cutting between the two characters alternately for varied game play.

There became no chance of anything of the sort when Joel was killed but at that moment, I really, honestly and truthfully and wanted revenge against Abby, his murderer.

I don't care about Abby at all and, midway through the game, you are forced to play as her. I found myself deliberately throwing her off of high places or leaving her to the infected just to see her die. I also found myself playing JUST to finish the game and get my 100GB of hard disk space back.

All of the other characters are unmemorable and mostly unlikable as well. So I didn't. When they died (always scripted, no matter what you did) it meant nothing to me.

The thing that really got me was exactly how linear the game is. There is a point where Ellie is chasing one of the gang who killed Joel into some spores. This girl is dead either way. Either Ellie kills her or the spores get her and she turns. The problem is, you don't get that choice. All you can do is continually press a button to cave her skull in. I don't expect Mass Effect like choices in a Naughty Dog game but I'd hope to have some choice along the way.

So after all the hype, the misleading trailers and pre-purchase excitement, I can only give this "game" 5/10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Part II was a beautiful game, and well done. The graphics were definitely impressive, and the imagination that went into the development of the scenery and the world building was top-notch. Gameplay improved from the first one (Part 1 was a 10 for me, although it's gameplay mechanics could be repetitive at times), but I dropped this sequel down two points simply for the story. It wasn't horrible, by any means, like so many of the leaks and distressed "fans" of Naughty Dog have been saying. It still sucked me into the world, and I cared about the characters, some of which met terrible ends (and rightfully so, in a cruel world, zombie apocalypse story). But the new game, while impressive and absolutely incredible in some ways, missed out on some of the originality, and the human connection between Joel and Ellie (and other characters), that made it hard to live up to the first. For me personally, I hold story over gameplay, so while this one improved in those areas, it got a slightly lower rating because the story wasn't QUITE as magical as the first. But I wasn't expecting it to be. That's a hard ask of any sequel of a 10 star masterpiece. But they were close, and improved in many ways, and continued to invest their heart into the making of this game, like they had in the first. Bravo, Naughty Dog. I ignored all the negative hype, and truly enjoyed the game. It even tug at my heartstrings a few times.

Additionally, and not that I care much, but it's worth mentioning for those considering to play: the zero (0) through five (5) review scores seem ridiculous to me, considering the work and execution of this game. I could see emotions dropping the scores quite a bit, maybe as low as 6 or 7 if your feelings were really hurt, or it just didn't "do it" for you. This game is no 3. But to each their own. If you haven't played it yet, I suggest you do. It's certainly not the first game, but it is outstanding none-the-less in it's own right. The few friends I have who also played couldn't even talk about it for a few days after we finished the game. That sort of impact and shock is hard to obtain in a video game, and Naughty Dog did it. Afterward, we talked about how immersive it was, and how shocking some of the moments were, even with some of the "leaks" and spoilers that had tried to ruin it for us. Ignore the negative hype and give it a shot. Or don't. But if you skip this one, you're missing out.

Expand

This is the best Last of Us game ever! But I will say that this game is a little worse then the first game.

This game is a cinematic, thematic masterpiece. Following on four years from the initial Last of Us story, we get to see the fallout of Joel's decision to murder an entire hospital full of fireflies to save a girl who reminded him of his daughter. We are introduced to Abby, a strong woman suffering from nightmares due to the death of her father, the only doctor in the world who could (apparently) create a cure for the infected. Only a girl when he died, Abby was fueled with the desire for revenge. This story, in its entirety, is incredible. We are shown a cutscene of Joel singing to Ellie, "If I ever lose you, I surely would loss myself..." as they return to Jackson after the events of the previous game. In the present, it seems that Joel and Ellis are estranged but we don't get a reason why. We are introduced to Abby in the forest and then for half the game we know her as the person who tortured and murdered Joel. We don't know anything about who she is or how she came to be this cold, malicious person we see before us.

Throughout the first half of the game we watch Ellie, Dina & then Jessie travel through Seattle to find Tommy, and Abby. We watch Ellie process her grief and learn why she and Joel were on bad terms: she had gone back to find out the truth of what happened in the hospital, and hated him for it. I cried real tears as she sung Joel's song in the theatre. We also go through Seattle as Ellie, picking off the Wolves one by one until we reach the aquarium, where she does something equally as unforgivable as Abby by killing a pregnant woman (unknown to Ellie at the time). Tommy finished that scene with "they deserved it." In the second half of the game, you play as Abby, learning about the Wolves and their setup, meeting Manny, playing with the dogs that you kill as Ellie (only part of the game I hated, genuinely made me feel sick to kill a dog). We meet Abby's other friends and learn about their normal lives as a doctor and a soldier just doing their jobs. We see that Mel is a kind, compassionate woman, Manny is a funny playboy who loves the ladies and Owen is still in love with Abby after they broke up when they were younger. We learn that Abby is afraid of heights, has a kind heart and cares for Lev, the little boy she saves. We see both sides of the story, two sides of humanity, and all the grey that comes with true humanity. I cried at the end when we are shown the cutscene of the night before Joel died and the fight that is fuelling Ellie's regret.

This story plays like a novel. You don't need to like everything that happens, just like in a book. The characters are real and fleshed out and raw with genuine reactions and emotions. They are not "good" or "evil". Both Abby and Ellie showed their humanity and their dark sides in this game. Alongside this, the graphics were exquisite. The guitar playing was so real, and the facial expressions had me feeling their fear, sadness, love and hope.

I found this world to be breathtaking, the plot full of wonderful examples of what it means to be human. I truly felt this story in my heart, which is what a good game should be able to achieve. If you don't have emotional range and don't want to be introduced to a wider story of this post-apocalyptic world, then this isn't the game for you.

10/10. Up there with Horizon Zero Dawn for story. Well done Naughty Dog on another great game.

Really not liking this sequel, it's not to me or my partners taste at all. The game is boring and too short, nothing like the original game IMO.

Utter trash, hour six and had enough. I loved one so much and feel kind of betrayed with the story, I did loose a bit of cash trading it in but I don't care, felt guilty that some other poor soul may purchase it after I traded it in.

As clichéd as it may sound, Naughty Dog has reached a new, seemingly unreachable level of narrative design. The Last of Us Part II will hurt you in ways that no game has ever done before. The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
