This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This review is going to be separated into two parts, the first being my own personal opinion to the game and the second part my reaction and thoughts to what people have been saying about the game.
I am far from completing this game hence why i have given it an 8. So far impressed is not even the word i would use to describe this game, it exceeded graphical expectations that i did not know could be maintained on a console of this generation and its character development was fantastic with how quickly I fell in love with new characters such as Jesse and even more with old characters such as Maria in the short amount of time i saw her. Managing to avoid the leaks Joel’s death was a complete shock to the system that made me feel the same amount of anger that Ellie did, after spending the whole of the first game becoming the character that you play, as well as Dina’s pregnancy reveal throwing a whole other obstacle into the revenge story. Going into the game i had high hopes, however as time drew closer to the release i became concerned that we would have a repeat layout of the first game being, we have a story that surrounds Ellie’s immunity to the fungal virus and we have to go on a country wide quest to find someone who can help, or something along those lines. Although, I was pleasantly surprised that instead of forcing me though a few states that were full of clickers, runners and bloaters we went straight to Seattle and the game takes place here for it’s majority. When it comes to runners and clickers the new types of “zombies” were very refreshing and added a whole other layer of strategy to the game, similarly had felt the same excitement for areas where you’re opposition was both living and “dead”. So overall, this game has been a fantastic experience so far and it’s inclusion of LGBT expression from Dina and Ellie, to a pride filled book store in the first day of Seattle has been especially refreshing as it is not shoving it down your throat it is making them seem like a real couple no matter the gender they act as anyone else would, as well as discrete mentions of religion and other less talked about topics in video games.
A key issue that i have had with the negative reviews of this game is people who have put a review out on the day that they received this game saying they hated it from beginning to end, this game, if played through with proper exploration and is not rushed through is around 30 hours of gameplay, that tells me that the people who have written reviews for this game on the day of release have not taken time to appreciate this game and have missed heartwarming parts of the story that develop the characters a little more, such as Ellie’s cover of Take On Me in the music shop and Ellie and Dina’s conversation of growing old and living life to the fullest in a farmhouse with pets. A game like this is not to be rushed otherwise key points that helped to develop these so called ‘bland’ characters will be missed and will cause you to think this. Also many people seem to have an issue of its portrayal of a lesbian couple and well if you are so disgusted at the sight of two women who are in love kissing on camera then you are growing up in the wrong era because this kind of development in gaming should have happened long before now. Thirdly, many people disliked the game before even properly starting it after 3 hours in and Joel’s death happens people were furious with ‘trashy writing’ and a ‘rushed narrative’ however you have to looked at what Naughty Dog wanted for this game. They wanted a revenge story that the player could relate to so killing off Dina would feel underwhelming and you would not be able to sympathise with Ellie as well as copying the recipe from the first one that worked so well which was killing off Sarah I the first 20-30 minutes, or alternatively if they would have killed Joel off say 10 hours into the game it would have felt dragged out for me. Something i have noticed a lot of people mention is how it is uncharacteristic of Joel to trust someone as quickly as he did with Abby however, look at what we know, he as lived in a perfectly secure and welcoming civilisation wth Maria and Tommy, over those 4 years he has had to worry about outside threats less and less and has begun to see the good in people, therefore he is likely to have gone very soft over these many years, another way to look at it is that he had no other options at the time, they were being chased by a horde and was told of a secure location that according to his response to it, he knew and had likely been to before, so considering his options his judgement was possibly clouded. Overall, I think there is unnecessary backlash, however this has allowed me to appreciate the game even more and look at it from different perspectives

A few improvements and functions were implemented into the game, while others were discarded or downgraded (maybe).

The mechanics in comparison with the first game was a good improvement plus the ambient, locations, global illumination, graphics, sounds, etc.

And since a game is not only composed by the story but also by many aspects, I will be honest. Considering this game tell us a concept about a post-apocalyptic world, I was expecting that the story would not do that well at part II.

For this reason I remove 2 whole points. The story is neither bad nor good, it is as dark and heavy as a horror story (even worse). It describes the reality of human beings living in a post-apocalyptic world and learning with their mistakes, and paying for their acts (or sins).

The characters were also very "reworked" (Joel becomes sensitive and inattentive in comparison with the first game, and other new characters comes from nowhere, maybe not precisely seen on the first game).

It's clear that this game tells us a concept of a world in critical situations, but this was not related in exact at the first game, which made me feel very sad for the Part II (considering part I was also sad from the start to the end).

I was aware of all these points and can understand the bad reviews about the story (which is not a scripted story but a concept), but to be honest, the game is not just the story.

And even if it was because of the story that the game received positive reviews, people must know that this is a negative part of the game (in my case -2 points) and not the whole. The game did not innovate a lot in comparison with the first game, but it followed a good position.

I forgot to mention that from the -2 points of my review, one was considering the unclear launch and confusing organization of the game. The company needs to improve this, and I mean by a LOT, literally!

The first game is scored 10 for me and I recommend it. Now part II... if you like the "script" about Ellie and Joel, consider skipping this game and have fun with TL OU part I and its "DL Cs", because they are quite good.

Now if you don't care about the concept of this game, I would think twice, before playing, because this game has a very distorted and dark (even violent) story. And other than that, mechanics are not deep explored, just a few minorities were implemented.

This game has a very well treated message, revenge and what it entails. A little poorly structured, but the message is the same.
This game doesn't ruin the saga, it only has some errors in the script (deus ex machina). The characters are not taken to a destination that was not expected, only that for the next game they do not have these script errors.

The game has excess gore (violence), but a lot, and the end is an example of it.
I do not like romantic moments.
Abby is poorly introduced into the plot, as the viewer ends up hating her, before knowing how it is (which is the case with most, but not mine).

Having played the game, I’m very happy to say it is one of the best games I have ever played. Never before have I found myself to be as immersed in a fictional world as the one presented in The Last of Us part 2. The combat is engaging and tense and the environments are incredibly fleshed out scenes that always have their own story contained within. The story of the game itself is fantastic and a worthy successor to the first, despite what a bunch of reactionary toddlers on the Internet might say. While the narrative has some elements that hurt its overall impact, it’s rarely enough to pull you out of the story.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Great game. I would say from ALL aspects including Abby's sequences; it proved to be a risk well worth taking for naughty dog in my eyes from the shift of antagonist to protagonist. HOWEVER the story seemed unpolished at points and lost the sense of story telling to just getting a message across. I feel that this is partially seen in the ending. This is where Ellie leaves her perfectly happy life only to return to the path of vengeance which ultimately leads her to losing everything along with her fingers, therefore her ability to play the guitar and her last emotional tether to Joel. Not a pretty ending and most certaintly what hardcore fans wanted in the end and the game as a whole.

    STORY
The story could have been told far better by perhaps staging sequences in a different order. So instead of playing as Ellie for 12 hours (Seattle day 1,2,3,e.c.t) then as Abby for 12 hours, they should have bounced between the two perspectives... Ellie day 1 to Abby day 1 and so on. This would give a deeper connection and more care for all Characters in the game especially Abby and others from her perspective. An example of this is Joels murder but before Abby finishes him you play the first abby flash back and then onto the Joel kills Jerry (Abby's dad) sequence. This would have given us the full scope of things rather than this built hatred toward Abby's character, which game later makes makes you play this 12 hour segment as this hated character with NO CONTEXT by which point I felt like putting the controller down and walking away. The only thing that kept me playing was the need to see what happened a the peak of the story which just lost its momentum switching to Abby at the beginning of the entire story; Its like watching a movie to just before the end and then have to go back to the start so your friend can be up to speed with what's happening. If they just played the sequences in order using both characters perspectives, the pacing of the game wouldn't of collapsed and players would have understood what was trying to be achieved rather than killing our beloved Joel unjustifiably.
The ending could have been satisfactory if it ended with the first appearance of the Farm with Ellies family along with tying up the lose ends. however kick starting the whole revenge thing wasn't for me which yet again was more about getting the message across rather than story telling. The way things ended up for Ellie was bleak and unnecessary for the story to extend its self to that extent.

    GAMEPLAY AND GRAPHICS
Gameplay overall was almost exactly the same as the first only with a few adjustments that I found more than substantial.to list a few
    -Dodge mechanic
    -freedom to explore
-Enemy dogs (morally they could have made it optional to take them out/kill them)
    -Ellies knife instead of shivs
    -New gadgets/weaponry
    -New infected
Graphically the game is astonishing and despite all the blow back this is the subject everyone can agree is one or the best on the market for this console generation partially on the PS4 pro accompanied with 4k HDR TV/Monitor. For me this already felt like a "next gen" game just because of the way this game looks.

To summarise this game is deffiently worth the cost, just be prepared for it to cover on some touchy subjects and can tax you as the player mentally. I for one found this game very dark and lingered with me for a couple of days after completing which just shows the effects of some what a good story... just poorly executed.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The last of us Part 2 is far from the masterpiece of storytelling the original was, however I would argue that almost all other aspects of the game are improved and are objectively made better, which makes the game still a very enjoyable road.

Unlike many people, I was not bothered by Joel’s death, at least initially. Once the credits rolled I came to hate the games method of storytelling through overuse of flashbacks, personally, I believe the game would have been much better had you spent the first portion of the game focusing on Joel and Ellie rebuilding there relationship before finally having Abby come in a do her thing.

Of course to me, the most glaring problem in the game is Abby. Despite giving the game such a high score I still absolutely hate Abby. Lev on the other hand is probably my favourite character introduced in the game and I thought had the most interesting story to tell.

The gameplay and specifically the combat is what made this game for me, I probably would have scored the game a 6 had it not been for the gameplay which massively improves over the last game. There’s something about the immersiveness of the game that makes the combat so satisfying. One thing I didn’t like about the gameplay is the fact that clickers are much less intimidating and can often be defeated with ease.

Overall I enjoyed the last of us part 2, but the storytelling decisions are very strange at times and the pacing is ruined by the flashbacks, which though great do a lot to ruin the tension of some scenes.

The game has me worried for a possible part 3, however if the gameplay continues to improve I’d imagine it’ll still be an incredibly fun game to play, provided you enjoy this type of gameplay.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

There’s also lots of new characters and also a new main character called Abby. I do like Abby as a character but felt like I played too much game time as her. I think Abbys story should have been a seperate game. I also think there’s still a lot of unanswered questions about Ellie’s immunity. But overall I thought this was a great game, I feel like some people are too emotionally involved with the characters and that’s why this game hasn’t had the rating it deserves. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Though I can understand why this is a unpopular opinion, I think most of this game were amazing and well developed. Yes I do believe Abby's story was drawn out and input some pointless details and the while time we were still angry because she killed our protagonist from the first game. However her story shows that she may not have been a bad person or at least no better than any other human trying to survive. And then theres how Joel died, I know some thought it did not do him any justice, but in a real apocalyptic scenario, it's unlikely he would go out a hero, or guns blazing or in some way that made players ls happy. And then there was the end of the game itself, I know personally I was broken, I was sad, and there was no happy ending, Abby lived, Joel was dead, Tommy was injured and begrudging toward Ellie, and Dina and JJ were gone, the last image we see is Ellie walking into the distance not knowing was happening next. Now I thought this ending (though it hurt) was genuine and realistic, Ellie lost more than what she started with, it would be impossible for her to have come out on top, and we see that, we see the price of revenge. And more importantly we see there are not always happy ending. The whole game is a beautiful, sad, and dark masterpiece of storytelling, and an insight into the price of revenge. Though I saw it was highly unlikely I believe that this ending sets up another sequel where we may see, l the ending we want. But until that is announced we must deal with the what we got and understand/ process this unique and realistic form of storytelling. *THIS IS AN OPINION* Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So after half a week of reflection and thought process from finishing this, what I would consider, a pretty dang good game. I do not like Part 2 more than Part 1, but to give this game the same/similar score to Ride to hell: Retribution, is just absolutely asinine. I found that at the start, the game is just way too easy. Even on Hard. After Seattle Day 1 as Ellie I discovered that I could create a custom difficulty, and once I cranked everything to Survivor, except keeping my allies at moderate, I had an absolute blast. Everything became much more intense, each encounter went from the same sneaky-sneak or blast my way through with ease, to being unique and different. The enemy became much more aware, items and ammo was much more stressful to find and use. It forced me to rely on all my resources and assets in creative and "on my toes" kind of ways/thinking. It made me feel like I was fighting for my life in a very realistic way. So I think it was meant to be played on Survivor. The combat and gameplay was never the highlight of the first game, so I didn't expect much in terms of improvement, and just the added fluidity and polish to it was more than enough for me. It's a Part 2, not a complete redesign.

In terms of story, I feel it was pretty solid. Not as focused as the first game, but we weren't even supposed to get a second. It is not the most realistic thing to expect a follow up that wasn't supposed to exist to out do a story that was supposed to be a "one and done". So to come from a story about love, and change it to hate... I feel the story does just fine at making me feel that. People don't like that Part 2 doesn't make them feel good... it was never supposed to, and maybe then the post pandemic survivor games and stories aren't for you if you don't want to feel bad. In the world of TloU, there are not clear good and bad guys, only people desperate to survive another day. Joel was never a "good" person. He has done things to hurt innocent people, he was never a "hero". He doomed humanity for its chance of a total comeback for selfish reasons. And that's just it, the game is about the characters, not the player. A lot of people are mad at the wrong things. Most are mad that Joel dies. His death was unfair, but not because YOU the player like Joel, but because the world that Joel is a part of is unfair. People are mad because you don't kill Abby in the end, while I wish I got to cut her throat, the story is not about what I want. It is about Ellie. Her choices, and her consequences of those choices. And just like she decided to try and start forgiving Joel for taking away what should have been her choice to save the world, she in the last second sees that killing Abby is not who she is, and not who she wants to become. This entire journey takes a HUGE toll on her, and she loses everything because of it. Just because someone is a main character of a story does not mean they deserve a happy ending. Just because the player likes the character doe not mean killing or treating them unfairly is a bad thing. Given the context of this whole TloU Universe, it completely within reason that it ends the way it does. The world does not cater to anyone. Especially the world of TloU. A character named Jesse did not 'deserve" to get shot in the face, but he did. Because we are playing a game in a world that is unfair and all about surviving. In the end the game is not a story about revenge, it is a story about forgiveness. Both Abby and Ellie suffer so much from the choices they make. Abby kills Joel and all the people she cares about die. Ellie goes on a blind mission of revenge and loses everything, she's left with no one. she loses more than Abby because Abby gains something in her story, she gains possibly more than Joel ever did in the first game.

My biggest issue with the story isn't because of anything that happened, to me it all makes sense. There are some "for shock value" moments that felt a bit too manufactured to get a rise out of the player/me. But the biggest problem I have is the way it's told. You play through 3 days in Seattle as Ellie, then you jump all the way back and play through those same 3 days as Abby and see her perspective. I feel the narrative would have been much more impactful if they ran parallel to each other. It would have made every death and every interaction more impactful. Seeing characters that Ellie kills hours after she kills them made me just not care enough about them to get invested in who they are, because I knew they would die.

There may be some heavy handed things in this game, but it is not about us the players, it is about the characters. When Ellie gets attacked by a dog and almost dies, Ellie is going to kill the dog. You do not get to spare the dog because Ellie wouldn't spare the dog. All linear games force you to make the choices of the character you play as, why attack TloU Part 2 for not being and any different in that regard?

Graphics, quality, sound, etc, amazing. The story is completely fine, nothing wrong.I would like to explain why.A beloved character from the first game gets tortured to death by ABBY.This part made people mad and I understand cause I was pissed to,but as I got deeper in I really felt the urge of getting revenge and everyone knows what they were getting there selves into since this was a revenge story;moreover, playing as Joel's killer also made people mad, which I understand, but isn't it interesting to see Abby's part of the story and see why she did what she did.Overall I enjoyed the game and would recommend playing it.Let me know your thoughts on my review.

The gameplay is very finely tuned in my opinion, but my biggest critique would be the amount of time the player has to spend collecting items. This aspect of the game is repetitive and can get old quickly. If you were okay with it in the first game, you’ll be okay with it in this one. Graphically, the game is absolutely gorgeous and I have no complaints. I encountered almost no glitches or bugs, which was very nice. Now, onto the story. The story is what brought this game down to an 8 rather than a 9 for me. Overall, I enjoyed it. I liked what the developers were trying to do, and I was able to look past the “ludonarrative dissonance” of it all. My issues were mostly with the pacing and progression of the story. Sometimes one quest would drag on for a ridiculously long time, just to give no character insights or narrative progression. There were essentially three chunks of the game, and the first two could have been cut down considerably. Unfortunately there were also times that something would happen too quickly and receive far too little time to leave an emotional impact. I understand that in some situations this is to provide realism, but sometimes it seemed strange given the drawn out nature of some aspects of the story. Contrary to popular opinion, I enjoyed the ending. I think it perfectly illustrated the theme of forgiveness. The problem with this is the amount of time we were forced to play a game about revenge. If this game was closer to 15-20 hours, I absolutely think it would be easier to understand that this game isn’t about revenge, it’s about forgiveness. I also have other problems with the narrative, but I think they’re mostly subjective, and if you go into the game unbiased, there’s an chance you will like them and a chance you will dislike them. Overall, I think this game is getting a bad rap from people who have never played it. If you play it and dislike it, I respect your opinion and want to hear where you’re coming from. I liked it, so try to go into it unbiased, and you might too! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It was genuinely one of the best games I've ever played. The storytelling, if done in a different order, I believe would have made the dynamic between the player and Abby more interesting. However, because Joel died almost immediately, and we knew who did it, making us play as Abby for 6+ hours felt forced. I found myself rushing because I was kind of uninterested in Abby; I felt betrayed by her, so why would I want to play her? They should have humanized her BEFORE she killed Joel.

Otherwise, the game was a massive 10/10 for me. I love the graphics, the attention to detail, and the ending was honestly perfect to end Ellie's character arch.

Joel's death is necesary to the plot of the game, its something that makes you feel the same as Ellie, the death could be better but his death is represented by the feeling of Abby, if you think Ellie wants the same thing that Abby (revenge).

The history could be better in so many moments and the characters could be best represented, like Jesse, he was dina ex-boyfriend and the father of the baby and dies in a stupid way, other character like that was Dina, she was so good on the first part of the game but when you discover that shes pregnant she becomes useless but Abby's character makes you hate her so shes a good villian and that makes her the best character of the game, you plays as her and you see other side of Abby, she feels and she is a human not a total b1tch amazing

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part II est un jeu compliqué et j'ai dû beaucoup y réfléchir pour me faire un avis définitif. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I finished The Last of Us two last night. I thought it was good for the most part. Some of the criticism the game is receiving is pretty fair, some of it not so much, but also I think according to the developers plan. That would be my main criticism of the game, I think they went out of their way to court just about every type of controversy available to exploit and then dressed that exploitation up as a philosophical statement. They aren’t the same thing, they never have been. I found the gameplay fun and tense, the story was.... really over the top. I think the majority of players are going to have trouble pulling the emotional shifts the game writers are asking them to pull and so instead of feeling empathy for all sides, which was probably the intent, may just get tired and feel nothing for any of them at the end aside from a bit of relief that it’s finally over. Which is about where I ended when the credits finally rolled. I probably reacted a little differently than a lot of people will because I personally find it very irritating when someone or something is blatantly trying to manipulate my point of view or feelings, even more so when they don’t make any attempt to cover up that manipulation. So I was mostly checked out on the character investment by the time much of the second half of the game started pulling its punches. Still, I kept playing, and I did genuinely want to know how it would end but I found myself not really caring which of the main characters was going to be alive when it ended and that seems like an indication of a kind of failure to deliver to me.
The first game was almost perfect, this one was still pretty good but it’s gone for an easier more low brow kind of impact and I think for that reason plenty of players are going to find themselves a little disappointed when those credits roll.
I personally don’t have a problem with shock rock and that’s really what this game amounts too. It’s the Alice Cooper and Marilyn Manson of video games. You can make good shock rock, and you can thoroughly enjoy shock rock, but for me shock rock can’t be a high work of art. It exists in a space that exploits a certain type of teenage rebellion and while it does that well, those 16-25 year olds grow up some day. The Last of Us was a definitive closing argument in the video games as art debate. The Last of Us part two well, that’s just shaking your fist.

Needless to say I really wanted to play this game, I never preorder games. So rewind to when game previews came out. They're saying "it's bleak and not a fun game but it's not suppose to be. Yada yada all that jazz."I watched a few of those but one preview made a really good observation without really spoiling the game for me. I think it was IGN, I'm not sure, but the preview said you, as Ellie, and your crew are not the good guys in this game. As a matter of fact, I will take a step further and say there are no good guys in this game. Just people doing bad things that are not as bad as the other people doing bad things. Everyone does everything they do to survive so can you really say there's a lot of room for morality in a video game with a the backdrop of revenge like this? Every decision has a consequence and that comes tenfold in this game. Anyway that little tidbit alone got me personally excited to play this game. Now I'm not a hypercritical person so I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the game. I'm not saying there aren't plot holes and bugs and AI incompetence. Those things exist. I am saying it wasn't enough to draw me out of the game and stopped me from wanting to see it to the end. By the end of the game I was as exhausted as the characters and I felt like we both just wanted to see an end. And when that end came I wanted more so I hopped on the remastered and booted up Factions. Can't wait for that to drop or any DLC for TLOU2. I recommend you to play it and let your opinions be the ones that guide you. If you liked the first one you owe it to yourself to give this one a shot. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game was to me exactly what I was expecting, a sequel on an existing story, staying true to the original lure and deviating enough to be new. I actually liked the story, it made me contemplate the cycle of vengeance and it's futility. I thought it was daring to depict the story from both sides, blurring the line between "good guys" and "bad guy". By the end of the game the fight between Ellie and Abby was a representation of the conflict within myself. And I love that. I thought it was daring to include a same sex relationship and go even beyond that (where funny enough nobody is talking about). I believed in the love story and that rare in videogames, usually I cringe. Not so in the Last of Us II.

I liked the characters, yes also the new ones. I didn’t mind playing as the new character. I would even go so far as saying that without the switch in playable character it would not have felt as special as it does now. But I must admit that besides the handful of main characters, the others will fade from my memory soon enough. But a handful is enough for me.

The gameplay has not changed which is a shame. And dont get me started about aiming; I could not for the life of me find a sensitivity setting which I could comfortly work with.

The length of the game was no issue for me. Usually if I like a game I will spend hundreds (if not thousands) of hours playing it. So 25-30 hours, it will always seem to short to me.

For me the Last of Us II gets a solid 8/10

Gameplay and visuals are the best they have ever been for this generation of gamers. There are a few shortcomings in the story, namely related to the pacing and development of a few key characters, however it is still a brilliant story about vengeance and redemption. Does the game deserve a 10/10? No, it certainly could have been altered in minor ways to improve the storyline but these are only minor and any person who is able to suspend even an ounce of their belief in reality and immerse themselves in the story will find them negligible at best. Players who do not fully immerse themselves in the game's setting and story will find that there is a political agenda being presented to the players, namely related to feminism and SJW, however that does not affect the gameplay or story.

Unfortunately, veterans of Part 1 have taken to the boards and bombed the reviews due to their frustration over key events and characters that represent the fictitious history of the Last of Us and feel as though Part 2 is not representative of the world described in Part 1.

Having not played the first game I’m aware my opinion is a lot more objective to this game than what many fans of the original would have expected this game to be. I’m currently playing through the first Last of Us and having already connected with Elli and Joel’s growing bond, I can absolutely see why this game would at the very least confuse people and also leave people disappointed and annoyed by the fact that you need to play as Abby for the majority of the second half of the game. Firstly, I think the one aspect of the game that many people can agree with is the amazing visuals. The game looks incredible, it’s some serious Red Dead scenery sometimes and it’s able to capture the many set pieces of a dying and overgrown world (but that’s supposed to be the Cheesecake Factory!). The visuals also allow for some of the best and most realistic performances from the mocap actors. Another aspect of the game is the combat. Oh lord, there are moments where of course I’m elated at sweeping a room full of stupid whistling idiots but then when I shoot someone and they start screaming for their life I don’t feel as good. The combat really drains you, I’ve never wanted cut scenes to appear more in my life just so I could take a break. The areas where you need to fight are really wide open and can sometimes be really daunting. It really makes you consider all your options and my god is it tense. BUT! The story. From my point of view having not been previously immersed into this world and with no expectation from previous experiences with the first game I thought the story was pretty good. It’s nothing masterful and there’s some bad pacing issues in the first half of the game, however, overall I think there’s a key message that is effectively communicated as the game goes on. I was engaged by the characters, I was sucked into the chemistry between Elli and Dina and as for Abby, well don’t tell anyone I said this okay, but I think she’s a really well done character and the game really picks up when you play as her. I’ve seen this with Pewdiepie and some other people I’ve either talked to or watched saying that they would have really enjoyed Abby if they played as her first. That makes sense and it would eliminate the disdain people had towards her, but I’m not sure the story is as effective if that’s the case. There’s a spoilercast episode where Neil Druckman (the guy who people seem to forget made Uncharted 1-4 and TLOU1) talks about how when the plot leaked and the big moment of the story was revealed all of a sudden it was seen by the audience with no context. It was interesting to hear him say that all of a sudden instead of it being a decision for the story it was just a decision and people had made their minds up before even playing it. Having said that many people who didn’t see any of the leaks shared the same opinion of being annoyed and disappointed. So overall, I really enjoyed The Last of Us Part 2. I was immersed in the story and it kept me on edge. There’s some great cinematic moments that look amazing with the visuals and I think even though it’s caused such an upset, I think that’s somewhat the point. I don’t think there’d be many games out today that would make the bold choices this game does, and I really respect that. For me it pays off. The game probably lives somewhere in between all the hysteria it’s created. It’s not some pandering LGBT marketing ploy and it’s not a masterpiece, but it’s a game that caused discussion and kept me thinking about it well after playing it. There’s a lot more good than bad and I think it’s really worth playing. Expand

I think Ellie got her wake up call a little too late. Killing Abby wouldn’t bring back Joel. Also killing Joel wouldn’t bring back any of the fireflies. The game was brutal, it really slapped me in the face numerous times. Both Abby and Ellie lost the light, they were driven by revenge and anger that got the best of them. Ellie’s biggest fear became true. Being all alone, left by the people who she loves the most. The very end when she dropped the guitar was really poetic- I felt like it was her way of saying goodbye to Joel and the revenge path that she had chosen.I hope she gets back at Jackson and stays with the good memories she created with him. I overall enjoyed the game, I liked the flashbacks, the new combat system, the freedom of exploring buildings ,the new upgrading system. The graphics are just amazing. The soundtrack is great.I appreciate everyone that put their soul into making this game. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was kind of conflicted at first on how to feel about this game but rethinking it and letting it sit for a while helped me better understand the game. I will probably never play this game all the way through again but instead revisit some of my favorite parts from the game. I thought the ending with the Joel flashback was very touching and moving and honestly brought me to tears. The gameplay was even better than the first one due to new mechanics and puzzle solving segments that made the game feel fresh and the side missions were a nice add on to the game For an example I loved the music shop scene where Ellie sings take on me I thought that was a very good scene and very moving. This game was meant to be sad, Emotional and moving. I think this game told a good story but however lacked certain things like good pacing, a mediocre timeline with way too many flashbacks and Upon other things. The best moment in the game was when Joel said “I would do it all over again” referring to saving Ellie which was the right thing to do that’s just my perspective however and it’s a big however I didn’t like Ellie ending up alone and the third one not being planned could leave so many possibilities open and could potentially ruin it however I hope not. One of the last things I wanted to touch on was the beautiful soundtrack from Gustavo just like the first one was very badass and definitely help set certain tones for this game. Things that need to be done though are-

1.drop the Abby storyline for the next sequel
2.PLEASE let Ellie have a happy ending in the next game and let her move on but still remember Joel
3.continue the story in Jackson with Ellie returning.
4.Last and certainty not least continue the story with Ellie and continue her relationship with Dina and allow Tommy and Ellie to bond more in the third one.

Ok I was piss off when they killed Joel but the more you play the game the more you realise there's no good or bad people among them... Just a bunch of people trying to survive in a apocalyptic world motivated by vengence. I did not really like the ending but at the same time how did you guys expect it to be? Pretty sure nobody would prefer some kind of cheap happy ending where Ellie live on her ranch with her girlfriend and her baby like if everything was fine. Expand

This is not the same chemistry in the relationship of Joel and Ellie. Yes. There are too many female characters and pregnant women. Yes. Neil from the first two hours of the game twists your eggs, putting them on a golf club. You go through all the stages of accepting the inevitable. You do not believe what is happening and you think that everything will work out, now Ellie will wake up by that very girl, and this is all a dream. But ... no ... Anger takes possession of you and you hate everyone who does not allow you to go further in the story. Then you start arguing that it would be better if Ally returned with her friend back to Jackson and healed happily, but the ghost of Joel will not let us go. This is shown in the game itself, but closer to the end. After you are forced to fight with Ellie herself, you fall into a real depression from what is happening, because you understand that this will lead you to sad consequences for the beloved heroine. But then ... After 30 hours of gameplay .. And re-passing, you understand that yes, there are a lot of mistakes and strange decisions, but hell ... what a cool ADULT it was an adventure. Thanks for playing the entire Naughty Dog team. Neil, don’t do this anymore with the players)) And thanks to Google Translate for the translation. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There's a saying that goes 'Quality over Quantity'. After finishing the game, I largely felt Naughty Dog tried to ride the line between quality and quantity with this game. I felt completely satisfied with the gameplay. It provides a good mixture of challenge, engagement, fluidity, and fun. The graphical achievements of this game are very impressive, with only a few things here and there that could have used more polishing. Dumb things to care about like the waves at the main screen after you finish the game could be a little better. The story is what everyone cares about when it comes to TLOU. This one was very frustrating to accept at times. I loved the game right up until the point at which you play the Seattle timeline as Abby. I just felt resistant to it. By the end of Abby's Seattle timeline, I understood and accepted the need for her story. It still felt a little hard to buy in that she'd go back for the kids or abandon her respected WLF position. Abby's story is where I felt they rode a little more on the quantity side instead of focusing on quality. No matter how you see it, the story is balanced with hatred and mercy on both ends. It's well-done, and the fact that a lot of people hate it means that ND has done a great job making players care for their characters. If someone dislikes the game because Joel dies, they just can't see the bigger picture. Actions have consequences, karma, etc. Expand

I was angry for a whole year, but now I understand the game. Is good. Super good. But I like the first one better. I don't have to say nothing more since everyone already did. The pacing is the worst thing the game have I think, but nothing more. You need to understand the characters.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Instead of just looking at all the negative responses to this game I've played through it at my own pace. Their are a few things I liked and others i did not. Heard about other people quitting playthroughs at about the 3 hour mark in this game, as most of you are aware a new character is introduced and happens to kill off a fan favourite from the first. At this point I've not even reached half way through this game so wanted to give it a chance. Anyway the Character in question is Abby and my only criticism of her character is the way her backstory is presented. It should of been introducing her character at the start of the game whilst swapping between her story up until the point Joel kills her dad, and Ellie & Joel's Story after the events of the first. We are forced to see Ellie find out the truth though flashback scenes, although great I would of rather find that out whilst exploring with Ellie & Joel and that would of added further ramifications into this game.

The same applies to Abbys story. I feel like even though they may not of done enough in her backstory i would of felt more for Abby if I understood the relationship she had with her dad and why she did what she did earlier in the game but you don't find this out until you've done Ellie's half of the story, thats 12 Bloody Hours. Come On Naughty Dog. Abbys own story then goes on for 12 hrs before a showdown and although I learn a lot about her charcter 12 hrs solely focusing on her im not only bored im genuinely uninterested in her character and the rest of her communities characters

Whatever Naughty Dog wanted me to feel ive not felt. I do not care that Joel Killed Abby's Dad and im supposed to feel something for this character. I really think if this happened later in the game and you understood what Abby did earlier and why I'd still hate the Character for killing a fan favourite but I'd understand her character more and why she did it. Instead you find out from the start and don't understand why until about 12-14hrs into the game. They Pitch this character as a second playable one, why would I care for her story when the first thing she does is kill a fan favourite.

Another issue happens to be Joel, Lets get thing straight Naughty Dog if the apocalypse was real then everyone knows full well that you wouldn't freely go back to her community without question youd take her back to your camp and question her, find out her intentions, not freely follow to then end up dead. Joel is a smart guy in the first game and it's seems like the guy completely forgot the one rule that he lives by in the first never trust anyone but he chooses to trust Abby because of a storm? Really, I mean Really? Come on Man!

Overall my final thought on the game is that its a great fantastic sequel with tension and the story of Ellie wanting revenge but coming out with nothing, no one is their, she's a broken character at the end and that hurts but it's her vengeance that tears everyone away from her and you feel that. A great overall game and story where you feel all the ramifications of your choices as Ellie.

The woman who brutally murders Joel two hours into the game. Naughty Dog tried to make us connect with her but it just didn’t work. Plus the ending wasn’t satisfying whatsoever. I really hope they make a third game. The fans definitely deserve something better than the way this turned out. Make the fans happy like you did with Uncharted 4. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Greetings to those who passed the game. Finally, we released part 2 of the game that changed the entire gaming industry in 2013, implemented an excellent production and roughly speaking, everything of that kind. What I will say about part 2... These were unforgettable emotions... The game immediately engages and pulls us into this native atmosphere. The work with light/shadow is beautiful, the music accompaniment, my homage to Gustavo is on top, as always. The game's mechanics have become varied and refined. You can crawl and climb into cars, break Windows, throw ropes, and put up ladders. The game has become very diverse, there is no sense of straight linearity. The world is beautiful, and every building you enter makes sense to find something useful in it. But now I'm going to talk about the sickest part of this game. Plot and direction. Yes, I liked the technique of telling the story from different sides (characters). Playing for Ellie, I realized that this is not a 14 - year-old defenseless sweet girl, but a fierce, cruel 19-year-old girl who will not put herself under the barrel. Playing for her was more fun than playing for Abby. Joel's death was in vain in the first hours of the game, it feels like Neil Drakman spat at him. I, like Ellie, have learned that I need to take revenge on this **** despite her story (I didn't like it)! And for what? To let her go? Ellie, like Abby, had lost almost everyone she cared about, and what was it, for nothing? I feel sorry for Joel when he listened to all the **** Ellie said and died from a high-powered woman's stick... Very sad ending, I was crying, but over the failed ending of this story. Unfortunately, I can't say more, or they'll ban me. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Я прошёл The Last of Us 2!
Мне кажется у первой The Last of Us не должно быть продолжения, это законченная история.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I absolutely loved the game it’s a ground breaking game in terms of realism and realistic believable characters . The acting in this game and mocap is incredible . This game deeply disturbed me at times it was so real . As for the story it’s a great story. It sucks joel dies truely it does but it didn’t ruin the game the journey is incredible and one hell of an experience I feel like I actually experienced this journey . The only thing I would change is ya it be nice if it was another joel and Ellie adventure but last of us 2 is proof you can kill off a main character and the game is still just as amazing game reminds me a lot of the walking dead how no character is safe not even the main character . It gives a sense of realism. It’s very heart breaking and may piss people off but it most def works . And the game is far from being a bad game it May be a darker theme but it works the games incredible . I wish playing as Abby wasn’t so long I feel like she over stayed her welcome . The only good side is you get to see Abby isn’t 100% the worst person yeah she’s def a **** person but she betrayed her own people just to save a kid which is kind of what joel did when he saved Ellie. Last of us 2 is also proof that you can get a attached to a complete different duo of characters not just joel and Ellie. So I hope they make a last of us 3 . The ending however people hate the fact Ellie didn’t kill Abby but in all fairness she tried her ass off to do so the first time and the second time . I was kind of upset that Ellie still wanted to kill Abby even after finding her half dead malnourished on a beach it’s like you still wanna kill her after seeing her like this you are obsessed this isn’t healthy just let it go . Ellie was so obsessed with her quest of revenge that she was willing to ruin everything around her . And the reason she gave up on killing Abby after one hell of a brutal violent battle is because she realized it was kind of like she was fighting her self for never forgiving joel she saw the good in Abby the fact that she was also helping a child survive and escape . It Reminded Ellie of her and joel and when joel flashed into her head which caused her to break down and cry and let Abby go . It was like that was a sign of hey Ellie just let her go killing her won’t bring me back and if you kill her you will just be like her no remorse no mercy. Through out the game you realize killing people had taken its mental toll on you where as for Abby she didn’t care . Ellie realized she was a good person ya she went down a dark path to find that out but she eventually realized I’m better then this all this has done is cause you to suffer and everyone around you , you are suffering mentally you are unhappy just let go it’s ok. Let her go move on and have a normal life . People tend not to like this because all they feel is hate for Abby trust me I hated Abby but she was on a quest for revenge like Ellie where she succeeded Ellie didn’t because ellie realized she would be a better person if she just let go she let go of joel she forgave her self for never forgiving joel which are her up inside and she forgave Abby . Moral of the story revenge never solves anything you become obsessed and it hurts you and everyone around you and if you don’t break that cycle someone else will then come after to kill you. Ellie did the right thing by ending the cycle. But I think it also would have been the right thing to kill Abby as well lol I would have liked either endings . This ending was just. Taking the high road and there is nothing wrong with that . 8/10 because you killed joel and because you play as Abby for to long . Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ok, here it goes. First the good points:
    - Memories chapters. Specially the one in the museum, my favourite moment of the game by far.
    - Music: Again, Gustavo Santaolalla and hiw crew made an amazing job. And if you ever played, have or simply likes guitars, you will enjoy each moment in which they play them.
    - Graphics: For me, along RDR2 and Uncharted 4, this game has probably the best graphics I've seen in PS4. The lights, the atmosphere, practically everything in Seattle...I have more a dozen of captures.
-Gameplay: Okay, this is a tough one. I know that there's a lot of people who didn't like how the stealth works, many that got annoyed by the cranky shooting system and that's not realistic, in a game where everything feels VERY raw and real, how the IA patrols. 'Bout the first two I will say just one thing: Didn't you play the first game? Stealth got actually much tougher, the clickers now can detect you even if you're not moving on the ground. And while in the first game I just cleared out every room and building from enemies, in here, specially in the last chapters, I went through huge areas just killing two or three guys as much so I wouldn't engage a fight that would consume everything I've. No complains about the guns: Just put pills into the right skill tree and your parts in the stability or precision stuff. Will get much, much better...Oh, and the skill to hold your breath.
Just to finish with the Gameplay: Melee combat was brutal, dogs are actually a big threat, not by themselves, but..well if you play, you probably noticed by now. The only "bad" points I'll give to gameplay goes directly as a comparison to the previous game. I miss the nail bomb and the Molotov's Cocktail got nerfed. They're much weak. Which I understand, because in TLOU were awesome, but there's a lack of consistence that doesn't make too much sense to me.
Stuff I would've wanted in TLOU Part II: Having both holsters from the begining. Didn't make sense at all to don't have them, for both characters. One lives in a place where for sure can make them for her, and the other has military supplies.
Having the bow from the beginning. Having to go such a big part of the game without the bow is annoying and stupid.
A gun with silencer: Dude, when I got it finally in Santa Barbara I was so happy. For people who doesn't know, guns with silencers use different ammunition: subsonic one. It's heavier and, despite what games often shows, has more punch that regular ammo. It makes a lot of sense to have this weapons if you're fighting creatures with natural armor and that can hear a nail falling from a table. Maybe not Ellie, but Abby definitely should have had one of these.
    Bad thing(s):
It can be summarize in one word: Abby. After +30 hours -as you probably guessed I stealth a lot so my playthrough consumed a lot of hours- chasing her, everywhere, after all she has done to almost every character we liked from the first game and the friends that we've made in the second, not finishing the job is disappointing. I get it Naught Dog. It's a grey ending where Ellie let's her go to end the violence cycle, however, I DO NOT like the feeling that they forced the player a story in which, her, the clear antagonist, has a redemption story!
For gods sake no, hell no. As Stannis Baratheon said in Clash of Swords: “A good act does not wash out the bad, nor a bad act the good. Each should have its own reward.” I'm not saying she didn't deserve her own revenge, but saying that if you get into revenge, you must face consequences. And she did not. The same goes for his "friends".
She chased Joel for years. She forced her "friends" to go with her and to torture Joel. And then just because she's, at last, caring about someone, I'm suppoused to care about her? No, I do not. I'm sorry for Lev, because from the Abby's chapters is by far the best characcter, but she deserved to die. This is, in the end, a fictional story and is setted in a raw place. She should've died or at least, we should have get the choice to spare her, or not.
In this regard, even if I understand why Naughty Dog wanted us to play as she and for me, this was quite original, it was disgusting actually to play as her. She killed our Joel. As I've read from some people, it would've made more sense to have her chapters before Jackson events. You're already making time shifts/jumps, why not doing this one? I do not see it that difficult and by this, you actually empathize with her and try to see it from both point of view everything that happened...But not like this.
Here goes a DLC suggestion A New Game + + in which you don't play as Abby and, of course and overall, that adds the choice of killing Abby at the end.
Amazing game, but the story wasn't guided that well...And it's such a same.

I will play it again, but it will take some time before I do it..

PS: A second DLC with more Ellie and Joel interaction would also be superb, but I'm aware that's fanservice.

Gameplay - Part 2 expands on the gameplay of its predecessor with new weponds, new craftable items and many in game mechanics to have other games shaking at their knees (such as the ropes). The way the player is brought into the stressful environment is amazing with the soundtrack and many features to make players feel on the edge of their seats. Many of the new features expand on the world and make environments more interesting with puzzles and different ways to get to certain areas. Story - I know everyone’s problem is with the story. Personally I enjoyed the story and it brought out the emotions in me that the developers wanted us to feel. We have to mention the actors’ performances (especially Ashley Johnson’s) before anything. The cast were absolutely astounding and so talented. The story requires a lot of thinking about which I like but it may not be for everyone. I feel as though some people are drawn towards games to cheer themselves up greatly and I must warn you the Part 2 may not do this. Despite having happy moments in the game it is dark, depressing and at most distressing. I would say it’s the abstract art to the art world rather than a form of realism art with the answers right in front of you. My one criticism is the pacing in this game. It seems as though half way through the game it becomes a bit of a drag. Maybe because you enter an extremely stressful situation to a stripped back and calm one which essentially leaves the player on a cliff hanger for about 10 hours. I feel like this game falls short with the run time and it could have been made a little shorter. However, I can see why the writers did this. The ending has good meaning and symbolism and is not to be looked over as there are no straight laced answers to this game much like the last. Overall I’ve given the game 8/10 I wish I could give it a 10/10 just like I gave the last one but some bits fall short for me. Other than that I feel like this game is a masterpiece and a step in a great direction for the gaming industry. The question is now is wether that ballsy decision to go in this direction pays off for naughty dog which it looks like it is due to the sales! I really recommend giving this game a try. Playing it yourself is an experience on its own. Watching it or reading plot lines do not add up to playing the game. Expand

And to finish this review I'd like to say that story wise it could've gone better. We all know Halley and Neil's potentials (TLOU1 and Westworld speaks for themselves), and at the end we feel that our journey through TLOU2 didn't worth the long wait, that is missing something to really achieve the "Perfect Game" status with 100 score or near that.

The Last of Us Part 2 was missing some key things in the story, which in my opinion was the misleading advertising. Shouldn’t have been done. But I still recommend the game 100%, long and intense, much more scary and action filled, making my skin shiver in excitement for what is to come of the future of the franchise. Still my favourite franchise. Recommend to play! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Understanding TLOU 2 has an important factor in being open to the story the developers wanted to tell you. This game was done a massive injustice before it even launched, with people deciding they didn't like it based on leaks, some of which turned out to not even be true. The game had a user score of 3.5 within the first few hours of being released despite a 25 hour~ average completion time. It was review bombed.

Today as I review there is definitely bad faith reviewers on both sides. Some people are so angry at people liking the game, they review it a low score to keep it low. Some people are so angry at people hating the game, they review it 10/10 just to try combat the low score. Neither are worth listening to and are pretty easy to identify.

The truth, really, is that the game has some flaws, and it has a lot of pro's in my opinion that made it an 8/10 game for me. The game isn't a revenge story like people imply and instead a story about revenge not being the closure it seems. It was a beautiful story the whole way through and while a certain gameplay aspect about half way through made me *really* mad at first, I came around pretty heavily by the end. All I hope is that anyone reading this decides for themselves on the game, instead of hopping on the bandwagon of hate it has generated even before release.

By the end though when the credits rolled, I felt completely different then I did half way through the game. Is it perfect? No. What it is though is a sequel that I am glad we got. I think it does a great job by the end, giving us the closure we needed for this story. For anyone who hates on this game, I see it as one of two things. Either they read the leaks and didn't bother to finish the game, or they just really didn't like it. Once the third act of the game gets going, it was hard to put the controller down. From gameplay to story moments it truly kept me into it right to the end. At first I thought this was a typically revenge story. It's so much more. By the end i started to grow attached to all the characters including Abby. At first I didn't care that much about Abby and her friends. By the end though when Abby ad Ellie's stories finally reconnect with each other, I felt for both characters. The ending I'll admit could have been a bit better but I am still very pleased with how it was handled. Overall I did end up liking my experience with this game. Expand

Among the best graphics and sound on the PS4. The AI might be worse than the last game. I don't know how many times I would be spotted and just duck into some weeds and the human enemy would give up pursuit (on hard difficulty). The theme of "violence begets violence" is far to preachy from a game and developer that gice you no choice but to kill hardea of enemies on the way to the endgame

I'm a major fan of the first Last of Us game and Factions, and I went into this game with an open mind. I completed the game on Hard mode recently, and I thought about it for a couple of days.

The parts of the game where it truly shines are gameplay, graphics, music, and voice acting. While the story was engaging, there is some room for improvement.

I found the gameplay to be fun and tense with very limited resources, and more thrilling as the game progressed. The dodge mechanic is one of the best additions to movement. Infected are much more aggressive and dangerous, and the human enemies are much smarter at spotting and flanking you (at least on the harder difficulties). Stealth feels very rewarding as a result. Exploration feels more organic as the environments are much larger than the first game. A standalone Factions mode using these gameplay mechanics has a lot of potential, as I rarely grew bored of it.

Graphics are phenomenal. This is hands-down one of the best looking games on PS4. It's sometimes hard to look at some of the kills in this game because the brutality is on full display with these graphics.

The music is mainly used in the background to build tension, and it perfectly matches the dark tone of the game.

Voice acting is top-notch as to be expected with every Naughty Dog game.

While I thought the story was good in world building and asking difficult questions when it comes to the themes of vengeance, the game could have been better crafted with regard to the pacing. I found it difficult to feel the type of emotion the first game was able to pull from me due to the weird structure or order of the story (you'll know what I mean if you've played it). At one point, I felt that I had to force myself to finish the game early just to see how earlier scenes play out. This was a little frustrating.

Another aspect that will turn some players (not all players) off is the SJW politics present in the game. While the story does pass over these moments quickly and they do not really draw away from the character development, it sometimes take me out of the moment (mainly some cringe a little in the early game).

Overall, the game has fun gameplay with a story that, while does not live up to the story of the first game, is above average and worth playing for yourself.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I think this was a decent game. Personally way too long. Every time I thought I had finished it kept going.

People complaining about Joel being killed early I feel have a reason to but also not to.
In the beginning, my only goal was to kill Abby and make her feel the pain that a lot of us would have had.
I think the second half of the game does put Abby's revenge in perspective but I don't know if it needed to be literally another game. If it was potentially dabbled in here or there or even the opening cutscene started with younger Abby talking to her father who you learn is the doctor in Ellie's operation room. That would have set the story up a bit differently.

I want to know more about Scars. Lev and Yara were great characters. I really grew to like Lev and his struggles and his inability to comprehend anything outside of the cult/religion that he has grown up in.

Ending was good, it's not a happy ending for anyone involved.
Tommy think's Ellie is a little **** for not wanting to go find Abby - and he's potentially splitting up with Maria.
Abby and Lev were almost killed by that group of harvesters? And pretty much **** even before Ellie tried to kill her.
Dina has lost her partner to revenge and has packed up and left. And .... as far as I'm aware not even left a note for Ellie.
And Ellie is alone again in the world. Joel's gone. Jesse's gone. Dina's Gone. Tommy's gone.

I think that's good. Not every game has to be a happy ending. I don't think that is what The Last of Us needs to be. So I did enjoy that.

If anything, the game could have been tightened up. Even by 5% or something, I believe that would have really helped with the pacing.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Okay here's my honest review of the game from start to finish:

The story... I figured that's why all you are here negatively reviewing about. Here's my take from the story. The theme of TLOU has always been survival horror game and joel's actions at the end of part 1 led to the beginning of part 2. The central theme of this game was based on revenge since Joel did in fact get murdered by Abby and Ellie wanted revenge. But as the game progressed you begin to realize its a SURVIVAL game and there is no clear line between good and bad people in this setting. Abby did what she did because that's what she felt was right and that's okay. Ellie choosing to let get go was done because that's what she felt was right and that also is okay. I believe the moral intention of this game was compassion. Abby initially was ruthless killer but as the game progressed she began feeling compassion when Yara and Lev joined her. Her desire to keep them alive allowed for her to feel this emotion she never had for so long. Ellie on the other hand felt this when she was with Joel, and upon his death she never got to reconcile with Joel leaving lots of emotions misplaced into anger. She then at the end regains this compassion based on her flashbacks of Joel. Two people meeting the same emotions but at different times. Thats why she didn't kill her, and that's why abby refused to fight. Their both now at least contempt (For now) TLOU pt.3?

The Negatives of the Story - ND should have been more blatant that there were 2 main characters in this story instead of telling us its an epic story about Ellie's quest for revenge. If fans were shown this at the beginning then there many have not been a big backlash of main character as they lashed out. Also, killing joel at the beginning with no reason as to why until you play as Abby almost 20 hours later seems to cause some (not me) people confusion. I believe if they portrayed the story in a different chronological order it could have caused for a different outcome of how the story was understood. The viewer could have understood Abby's decision and built character development at the same time to fully justify her actions leading to what transpires in Seattle. If her origin was portrayed in epilogue, and ND marketed the game as "revenge" not saying as to who's revenge it was, it would have led to a greater understanding with more clarity.

All in all I enjoyed the game. The visuals, soundtrack and overall gameplay were heavily improved from the first. I really like how there were encounters of enemies and infected in one setting as that led to new ways of playing which the previous hasn't done. I hope they continue Part 3 as Dina's disappearance from the homestead leads us to lots of questions. The same with Abby and Lev as they drove off into the ocean meeting old fireflies?

I believe the section where v play as Abby could have been flushed out a little better.. Her motivation to go back and help LEV and YARA was poorly executed.. I guess they should have bonded a little more and then Abby could have justified her actions of going back and saving them. Rest of the story with Ellie is amazing, her motivation and ultimately her action of sparing Abby is well presented although in the end she losses everything.
Gameplay wise is almost as the first game but a little tweaks here and there..and well executed.
A well made game and a must play but I still believe the story with Abby's part could have been well written.

This game is an emotional journey that will challenge you to reconsider your thoughts and feelings throughout the game. The story is on par with part 1 with some interesting twists. Graphically, this game is amazing. The environment and all the details are breathtaking. It's actually kind of a bummer this game wasn't created with the PS5 in mind, as I would've loved to have seen how that would look.

Gameplay-wise, it's solid. If you liked the gameplay in part 1, you'll like the gameplay in part 2. The same mechanics are there, with some extras. It's smooth, but I did find myself searching for the right buttons when I was shooting several people and my gun was empty, for example. Might just be me, but I'd have preferred to switch to the next gun automatically. Also, some parts of the game were stretched a bit and made me think "not again please" (I had the same with part 1 and basically all Uncharted games).
