The game is not a masterpiece but a very good game. Gameplay mechanics in comparison with the first part seems more "alive". Well-written characters, interesting fights, large locations, as well as wonderful graphics give a storm of emotions. I recommend everyone to get acquainted with this game (of course, after passing the first part).

First off I loved the first game so most of the complaints I get as far as the story goes. So if you’re looking to recapture the feelings of the first game you will be disappointed. I completely understand the anger for this game. But giving this game a 0 is doing your fellow gamers an injustice. So is saying it’s a 10 to counter all the zeros. I played this game to the end and took a day or so to digest this so I can give this game an honest review. Ok so the story does little to no justice to the characters of the first game. The very beginning is a nice tie in to the first game I thought it gave a nice follow up to the end of the other game ( before the major event that has everyone upset). The flashback scenes scattered throughout the game at points I felt also worked well with the first game’s story. The rest however was hard to wrap my head around. I chose to look at the bulk of the game as a dream sequence or an alternate universe lol. (It worked for me that way) Playing that way or not having an attachment to the first game and it’s characters It’s actually a good game. The story on its own I thought was well done overall and wouldn’t get the hate I feel if this wasn’t part 2 of a beloved game. Won’t spoil anything but the second half is a complete shift. So if you look at it as they are intending it’s quite interesting and makes you think. Which is something I can honestly appreciate. Graphics are amazing everyone seems to agree there. You can see the amount of work that was put into this game for sure. Found myself admiring the littlest things. Gameplay is good very familiar if you played the first game (with improvements). Definitely a violent game but I don’t feel it’s brutal just to be brutal. It works with the concept of the story they are trying to tell. Gotta say overall I did enjoy this game just for different reasons and not to the extent of the first game. I can recommend playing it IF you can look at it the way I did or don’t have a major attachment to the characters. It’s just really hard for a lot of fans of the original to get past that one scene early on and understandably so. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Just beat the game today. I feel so sad. I feel so depressed. I feel miserable. I feel like there’s a whole in my chest. Rely on the reviews played by actual people who’s played the game. I’ve been thinking about this game for the past couple days playing it. I’m still processing the game. There’s a difference between a bad game and a game you don’t like. It’s not a bad game. It’s a game I don’t like (not like terrible) but because it’s so miserable. It was meant to be like that. It was meant to made you feel. I feel like I was on a roller coaster of feels while playing this game. No game has ever made me feel like that. It’s not perfect. It’s a game you aren’t meant to like. I’m still processing the ending. I feel very incomplete. I’ve seen a lot of people say the ending isn’t what they wanted and I totally understand that. There’s a loop of getting revenge, losing things, going back out and getting revenge and losing more. There was a cycle and Ellie finally broke the cycle. But at what cost? I want to be happy for her because she grew as a character but I can’t because she lost everything. Lost everything to get to where she was.
Abby’s part of things: I never liked her. Ellie’s part of things at the beginning was perfect. A perfect 10/10 but when we played as Abby I lost interest. I didn’t like her. The tie in was kinda cool. The fact that you shot someone random in the first game turned out to have such a HUGE part in the next was cool. At the same time I didn’t care about her. They introduced her so early in the game killing our favorite character. I don’t know why they thought we’d like her or even care about her. I couldn’t sympathize with her. I understood her but I didn’t care. It was too long with her. You built such a strong connect with Joel and Ellie in the first and with Ellie in the second. You kill Joel at the start and play as Ellie for only a half of the game, I didn’t like that. I feel like a separate game with Abby would’ve been cool but don’t throw her into this game.
With Joel it was tough. I understand a lot of people were mad with him dying so early, me included, the way he died. We didn’t get time to explore his and Ellie’s relationship and figure things out. It didn’t give Ellie time to mourn, to really understand what had happened. I would’ve liked to have seen that explored a lot more. His death could’ve been so much more. He was the hero of the last game and we lost him immediately.
This was a sad, gloomy, miserable game. It scared me and depressed me. It was hard to play it for an extended period of time because it was so depressing. It was a great game. It was supposed to be a game you didn’t like. I would knock off a couple points for the Abby crap and killing Joel so early I’d give it a 7 or 7.5. But it’s the last of us so 8/10. Don’t listen to reviews. Play it on your own. Play it on your own time.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Before I begin, I would like to specify that I have played through this game twice now, once on survivor and once again on survivor+, meaning I have a total of around 46 hours with the game. I would also like to clarify that I did love the first game, but I have never considered myself a Last of Us fanboy by any means. To open, I really, really enjoyed this game, for about 80% of my TOTAL time playing it. Hence the 8/10. To get the obvious out of the way, the game is gorgeous, the soundtrack is impeccable, the acting is great, and the gameplay was a HUGE step up from the first game for me (although I know many disagree). I also think that a lot of the story on Ellies side was executed well, although the writing itself definitely falters in depth and meaning. The fact that I was able to like Jessie and Dina AT ALL with how little we know about them and how shallowly they are written really goes to show how top-tier ND's performances are. The other 20% was unfortunately spoiled by the controversial, yet understandable structural decision to play as Abby, (who is both the primary antagonist and the secondary protagonist), for almost HALF of the games runtime. I understand why ND did this, as on paper it sounds like a very good way to add meat to an otherwise empty revenge plot, but it obviously did not work out as intended. I believe this is for a few reasons, and I would like to talk about most of them briefly. First of all, we have no connection to Abby prior to her golfing session with the old man. The primary character we have all been in love with for 7 years is taken out, and we're excepted to then sympathize with his murderer. Once again, I believe that this choice seems good on paper, but due to other faults with Abby, it fell far from the mark. This story would have had to have been executed perfectly in ever single way for it to have had a chance of landing with the audience. To elaborate more, the characters on Abby's side are utter garbage. It wouldn't be so bad, but before we even begin the Abby storyline we have the knowledge that Ellie kills literally all of them. This doesn't work, we already know they're dead. We have no reason to connect, and even if we did they are so shallow in their intentions and have one or two "values" that they spit in our face the whole game. Mel is passive, and hates Abby for both her brutalism and her past with Owen. Owen is a go with the flow kinda guy, who isn't passionate enough about his cause to continue on anymore. These are literally their primary personality traits. I think this is the games primary problem. By the time I got to the bulk of Abby's story, I wanted to stop playing. I didn't care about the characters, the gameplay was starting to get repetitive, and all I wanted was to see how the conflict in the theatre played out. HOWEVER, this completely changed on the 2nd playthrough. On the second time through, I had grown close enough to Abby through her final chapters in the 1st that I didn't mind her sections at all, in fact I think they are objectively better from a level design and gameplay perspective. Anyway this reviews kinda long already, but my point is that this game is like movies that you don't understand the first time. Give it a second go, and do so with an open mind. Overall great game, I was only being so critical because it's a direct follow-up to arguably the best narrative driven experience of all time. Expand

And this game is about ellie and her story ,should not be about abby if so why make the ellie edition and the playstation with her tattoo and Advertise Ellie so much and make us play abby half the game I would have been fine with maybe 2 hours to explain her reason why and some context of why she did it that's fine. But this should have been just about ellie and her journy.the graphics are beautiful the game play is pretty fun but the story did not cut it they should have made a happy ending not such a bad ending where you do kill abby and ellie gets to have a happy and peaceful life with dina and the baby that would have mad every one happier but they **** up that's it. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A fair honest review from my opinion. Played on survival mode. Took 27hrs to finish. Took my time looking for everything the game had to offer.

Literally made this account to give the game some good press. I really dont see the problem people are having it's a really good game. Yes Joel dies and its rough to accept but to be honest it's nearly expected. Least they weren't afraid to kill off a main character. Even better that it was early cause I thought it fueled revenge mission even better. Was not expecting the twist at all were you would play as Abby for the second half of the game. You get a completely different perspective on the story. In her shoes I dont blame her and for what she done, just wasnt expecting a full side of the game based on her. Overall I thought her story was enjoyable and basically giving the chance to play as the villain while the stuff was happening that you did in the first half. Even though you start to like the character by the end of the story I still wanted Ellie to finish the job. The game should have give a choice to kill or let go like the previous game. There could have been a few instances were choices could have affected the story. Gameplay itself is excellent. The gun combat and stealth system is top notch. Can really feel every bullet, club, knife and explosion hit home. Some of the kill scenes are brutally violent I love it. The zombies are horrific as usual and fun to deal with. The introduction of dogs made human combat more interesting and definitely forced a full on gun fight on some occasions. The upgrade system was decent even for a story based game like this. Could have done with a few more open areas like they introduced early in the game. Most of the game is pretty linear but there are multiple ways to get the job done. Some of the areas are big enough and I really enjoyed the looting aspect and finding supplies. I played the game on survival mode but overall didnt have to much hassle for supplies. Always seemed to have enough of everything. By the end I had nearly all the guns upgraded and both characters nearly fully upgraded perk wise. I would play stealthy but there was a good few instances of straight up gun fights which were a nice change of pace. Really needs that grounded difficulty which hopefully comes out at some stage. Graphics are some of the best I've seen this generation. Just everything looks amazing. Sound and music design too absolutely top notch. Few scenes with headphones on were brilliant with the surround sound really gave a full fear factor in some scenes. Hospital comes to mind with Abby.

Overall for me I really enjoyed the game. The gameplay and graphics are some of the best of this generation. Naughty Dog definitely took some risks story wise that I would say almost payed off. I would have like to have more choices in the decisions of the story. Other than that I think the twists are great and I got a few shocks regarding some of stuff that happens. There could have been more backstory to the likes of Abby and more interactions with Joel and Ellie. I see a lot user reviews bombing the games story but I think they were expecting something different were everyone survived. Naughty Dog made a good game here. But it could have been a great game. For me the story is the only let down but I'm still rating this story at a fair score.100% will play the game again when it more than likely comes out for PS5 with hopefully a grounded difficulty.
    Graphics/Sound 10
    Gameplay 9
    Story 7

Overall a fair 8. Super game with brilliant gameplay and graphics with a pretty loose story compared to the first game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game really isn't that bad. I was a fan of the first game, played it 14 times. I actually played and finished this game, currently going back through for the Platinum. The graphics, gameplay, sound, and music were all wonderful and there are certainly impressive improvements from the first game. If the leaks and reactions didn't come out before the game I'm sure reactions and reviews would be so much different now. I will be thinking about the ending for a long time though because it falls short for me in that we don't know what's next for Ellie. I think it would be a cool feature if we could have made a choice as to how the ending played out, whether Ellie would go back after Abby. Some of the gore and shock value things (showing dead Joel multiple times, killing dogs, the killing a pregnant woman trope) were a little cheap. One of my favorite aspects of the game was how much it mirrors the first game (the scene in the museum vs. the scene with the giraffes, Abby & Lev vs. Joel & Ellie, Joel trusting Abby and her group vs. Joel trusting Sam & Henry, Tommy & Jackson, Marlene & the Fireflies).

What I'm stuck on: The story leaves me disliking both Ellie and Abby. They both have awful coping skills. Of course I don't like the way Abby killed Joel. I don't like how Ellie handled his death and willingly gave up everything because she couldn't find a way to mourn that didn't risk other people's lives. I think that things would have been better for her if she just learned to express her grief in healthy ways to Dina and Tommy instead of straight up acting on her feelings. Abby has a similar way with Owen. I think in some ways only showing happy/positive flashbacks between these characters kind of counteracted building empathy for where they are at that point in real time in the game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Combat is much improved version over the first game, but plays in a similar way that really shines at higher difficulty levels.. Visuals are amazing, even on a launch PS4. Puzzles are less boring than they were in the first game. The main thing holding it back is the ambitious but messy narrative that is hit-or-miss. It's a shame people are review bombing this and not playing the game before reviewing.

To anyone salty about Joel. Joel was a bad person. He was obviously going to get what was coming to him after all the bad he had done. I don't understand why this is surprising to anyone. The execution wasn't perfect but it definitely made sense for the story.

Abby is a well-developed character. Her story arc is similar to Joel's in the first game. Bad, hardened person and redemption by taking care of a child. Her rescue of Lev at the end where she just killed everyone on both sides is also similar to Joel's actions to save Elly. By the end of the game I liked her a whole lot more than I liked Ellie. In fact, I think the way Ellie was handled is one of the weaker aspects of the game. While Abby's friends were interesting and made sense, the game failed to really give Dina and Jesse time to shine in Ellie's story. Tommy's turn at the end also doesn't quite feel earned. Dina abandoning the farm didn't make much sense for me either. Actually, the whole ending felt a bit rushed and could have been a whole game itself.

I think many of the players forgot that neil druckman said that this game is more about hate and the post apocalyptic world. If you wanted a the last of us 1- esque game here you were completely wrong in the first place. Like dont get me wrong, the game really has his problems for example joels death comes way to early and the ending is just not satisfying even tho the ending makes sense. I totally get the idea behind TLOU2 but the pacing just was a bit of. My biggest problem with this game was the parts with joel, they were way to short and i would loved to play with ellie and joel together. We only get that here in the flashbacks (which are great btw). Secondly the parts with abby were nice if you look at it frome the gameplay perspective, but they felt just too long.
We are left here with a good the last of us post apocalyptic world experience and some very nice emotional touches and smooth gun and fight gameplay. it does not come close to the original the last of us but its still a great game. Hence why I give it a 8/10. Try to look at this game from a deeper perspective and you will get the beauty of it!

Story the game had a lot to live up too, and fell at a couple hurdles. If you don't like dark and violent stuff give it a miss because those are turned to 11. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It seems the vast majority of people who dislike this game were simply after fan service Joel and Ellie adventures. This game tells a story which creates such a vividly rich image of the world it’s set in.

It provides a unique take on storytelling that deviates from the main characters and shows the new perspectives of all characters involved, and after the initial frustrations of not wanting to play asr the bad guy because they’re ‘bad’ you begin to empathise with their motives are eventually see that they’re life runs as a parallel to that of Ellie’s. They’re just two individuals caught up in a cruel world where life is so painfully cheap.

There is no plot armour, characters are just people in all their complex glory.

This game is a must buy if you enjoyed the first one, the story is gorgeously pulled off once you understand it breaks the tradition of standard storytelling. And of course, the gameplay is scaled up tenfold from the first instalment, every moment feels satisfying and visceral. And holy **** does it look and feel amazing, the atmosphere and immersion in this game is like no other.

Don’t listen to the review-bombers who hate any notion of LGBT in their games (which by the way feels incredibly natural in this game and not forced at all). Play the game yourself and form your own opinion, I loved this game for doing something different whilst still staying so brutally ‘The Last of Us’.

Really sucks that Joel had to die, but the story couldn't have its impact if he was either in a coma or captured Also, in my opinion, the parts with Abby went on a tad bit longer than I expected. Nevertheless a pretty solid sequel in my opinion

That being said, the story somewhat lags throughout the middle, and can keep the player feeling bored and unmotivated to continue due to the pacing. I think a chronology shift would have made the story significantly more enjoyable to play through and experience. The gameplay is an improvement from the first game, but nothing groundbreaking. The graphics are fantastic, and the facial animations often look extremely real.

Overall, I'd say this is really worth a play, or at least to watch an LP on Youtube to experience the story. It is worth the outcome, no matter how it seems from afar.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The short version is that I really enjoyed this game despite its flaws. It's not perfect, but I don't think it deserves the ire that it's receiving.

    Let's start with the bad.

    Inconsistent gameplay:
    - I came across a few bugs, the worst one being an animation glitch where Abby kept trying to draw her weapon and ended up looking like she was having a seizure. There were also a few times where Ellie teleported across a door to open it or got stuck in an animation while opening a drawer or cupboard.
    - The platforming is pretty bad. Considering Naughty Dog's experience with Nathan Drake, I expected better. The jumping feels slow and unresponsive, and many of the platforming puzzles require you to sprint and take off at the end of a ledge.
    - Stealth mechanics could have used a bit more polish. There were a couple of times where I was crouched behind a wall, completely out of view, but then suddenly the combat indicator went off without warning. Thankfully these issues weren't super common, but the couple of times they popped up came as a nasty surprise.

    Storyline:
    - It's a long game, the middle portions really drag on, and pacing feels all over the place at times. This is most apparent when you switch to Abby after 10+ hours of playing, and the game feels the need to reeducate you on how to craft items and toggle your flashlight. Also, I'm not a big fan of flashbacks within flashbacks. It just feels like sloppy storytelling to either retcon something or to make the player empathize with the character without earning it.
    - Too many characters and not enough development made me wonder, "Who cares?" Abby's crew consists of Owen, Mel, Nora, and Manny. Owen gets a decent backstory and Manny brings a few moments of levity that add some personality to his story, but the rest of them feel like cardboard cutouts. I actually forgot who Nora was when I got to Abby's storyline because she was such a minor character.
    - Kill hundreds, spare one. Similar to the Uncharted series, The Last of Us Part II struggles with the moral gray zone of its protagonists mindlessly mowing down hundreds of people and balking at the idea of killing one more person. With Lev watching Abby, it made sense, but Ellie giving up on her revenge mission after sacrificing her family, her friends, and even herself (or at least her fingers) felt a little weak to me. I get that not all endings should be satisfying, especially for bad people who do bad things, but it did feel like they were setting Ellie up for some kind of redemption arc only to let her return "home" to an empty farm.

Alright, so now let's talk about the good.

    Graphics:
    - It's genuinely one of the most beautiful games I've ever played. The setpieces are incredible, and the water effects both while swimming and in the rain are breathtaking. Artistically it sets a new bar for games.

    New Mechanics:
    - Ellie and Abby's new agility made for some genuinely tense and exciting gunfights. I typically favor stealthy builds, but this game forced me to play more aggressively with less predictable enemy routes, dogs that can sniff you out, and far more limited resources. Many of the arenas also had a lot of verticality, so I found myself constantly finding angles or flanking enemies. The gunplay feels familiar but polished, and the cat-and-mouse evasion routes didn't get old for me even after 25+ hours.
    - The rope physics are really cool! It's not a very prevalent element of the puzzles, but the "Aha!" moments of using wires to climb something felt super satisfying.

    Plot:
    - Alright, let's talk about the plot. Abby murders Joel in front of Ellie's eyes. It's a visceral, gruesome moment. Since I avoided spoilers, it came as a huge shock to me, but it didn't feel cheap or shoehorned in. It felt like the culmination of all the people he killed to get to his happy ending in Jackson. I believe after 4 years of living a comfortable life and watching Ellie grow up, he got a little soft and even learned to trust people. You're talking about a guy who cleared out a whole museum wing just so Ellie could sit in a capsule and listen to an audio recording of a shuttle taking off. He changed a lot.
    - To anyone complaining about roping in political, SJW plotlines, remember that Ellie "came out" during the Left Behind DLC. If you're a true fan of the series, you'd know that. And the bits about Lev - His character shows the most development besides Abby and Ellie, and it feels earned. If they wanted a superficial trans character added to their game, they would have made it Nora or Danny or some other random person, and they certainly wouldn't have given them an entire chapter of the game.

All this is to say that I enjoyed my time with the game. Do I love the direction they chose for all the characters? Not necessarily, but I respect their decision, and I think the story is impactful and powerful. If you really believe it deserves a 0/10, you must not play many games.

It pains me because the game is getting so much backlash for the sole reason of Abby's flashbacks being poorly timed, THATS THE ONLY REASON IT HAS HATE. I loved the story, and especially the end fight in the water, I think that the meaning and messages are being overlooked, and that's why people dont like it. It obviously can't be better than the first game, sequels never are, but the 8/10 would've been a 9.6/10 but the placement of Abby's flashbacks just wasn't timed well. Thanks Neil for this masterpiece. I really do think this, it isn't some petty scam, it's my honest opinion. That's all I had, but a solid 8 Expand

The hate surrounding this game is idiotic. The story and characters are superbly written, music is great, and the have been some improvements to combat. If the game was a bit shorter, had more new combat elements, and had less bugs it'd be perfect. It is arguably as good or better than its predecessor.

For the most part, I am enjoying The Last of Us: Part II but it is sadly not my Game of the Year for 2020.

To begin with, Naughty Dog pushes the PS4's hardware to the limit as the game looks absolutely amazing (played on PS4 Pro) with beautiful, realistic environments, fantastic lighting and life-like characters. The inclusion of a photo mode is a great addition.

The game play has improved, with new abilities such as jumping, climbing and going prone to crawl. These additions are not ground breaking or unique and we have seen them in other games before, but their inclusion does improve the overall experience, especially stealth. The combat and stealth mechanics work well and I had a lot of fun with the stealth segments.

I also appreciate that pills, or supplements, used to buy new skills and upgrade abilities, becomes more common to find, especially considering that now, you have access to multiple skill-trees. The environments are also quite large, offering multiple paths and optional areas to explore. The music is also a delight, a mix between calm and beautiful, to eerily uncomfortable.

The characters are all performed well by their respective actors, and while the overall story is competent, it is not nearly as strong as the previous Last of Us, released in 2013. I find that, despite some of the performances, I just did not care at all about some of the characters.

My biggest problem with The Last of Us: Part II was that the A.I. partners would frequently get in my way, disallowing me the ability to move where I needed to go. This was especially frustrating in hostile environments, such as trying to hide from an enemy about to spot me (one of my A.I partners would be blocking the path), or when I tried to seek cover, an A.I partner may unintentionally block me from cover, resulting in me being seen, getting shot etc. This wouldn't normally be that annoying, or maybe I'm just unlucky, but it happened in almost every combat encounter I experienced, when I had an A.I partner with me.

The game is quite lengthy, averaging anywhere from 20 - 30 hours to complete, depending on your chosen difficulty, how good you are at the game, and if you're using guides or not. This is kind of a good and kind of a bad thing. Some people may appreciate the longer time, giving them more of a story they might enjoy, while some might feel that the game can overstay its welcome at times and become repetitive, which is what I found. I like long games, but with formula of The Last of Us: Part II, it might be a little too long for my taste. It's also a massively sized game, a physical copy of the title comes on two discs, a data disc and a play disc, and the install for on a PS4 is 95GB, so you better free up some space r get yourself an external hard drive.

There is also a New Game Plus mode, which allows you to replay the game with all of your acquired weapons, weapon-upgrades and skills, albeit the difficulty will be slightly increased higher to accommodate for your advantage.

I think The Last of Us: Part II is a good game and I don't believe it deserves all the hate it's receiving, but I also don't agree with fans claiming that it's the perfect game. It's pretty good, but it's sadly not mind blowing. I thought the first game was incredible and it was certainly my favourite game of 2013, so perhaps my expectations for this game were a little too high.

If you're a fan of The Last of Us, and/or if you enjoy action games with stealth, then you'll probably like this.

My score: 8 out of 10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is visually interesting at is says. The game play mechanic is superb compared to the previous chapter, it has definitely evolved. However, the story is pure SJW propaganda and I don't understand why they have to implement this belief into an apocalyptic theme. I paid 90 AUD just to witness a man I adored since the previous game, die in an unnecessary death caused by an unknown stranger. The Last of Us franchise is a story about the progression between Ellie and Joel, and that was the reason why I was a die-hard for the Last of Us series. The flashbacks were the only good scene where I wholeheartedly enjoyed. Regarding back to the spoilers, I never saw the leaks nor I heard about it. I blindly played through the first 2 hours and see that one of my beloved character has died. That made me become frustrated for the entire sequence. If we paid attention to the details, Joel would never ever show his real name to anyone. He lived throughout his life for 20 years not trusting anyone before he could meet Ellie. The story about Abby felt forced, killing Joel so early in the game was extremely lazy directing. It would make no difference as during the last chapter of the first game, Fireflies has announced that there are several immune people and none of them were been able to create a cure. Killing Ellie might not able to find a cure, and Joel literally has one thing to live for, the existence of Ellie after losing Sarah in the first game. The world took everything from Joel, so he took everything from the world. One of the key things of paying so much attention in the previous game is that, you will notice so many major flaws that the director just ignored. It is like, after 7 years of waiting, they have entirely forgotten about the entire story of the first game. I finished playing the Last of Us 2 and I have to say, Neil Duckman literally just massacred the franchise.

The reason why this rating is 10/10 is because I would like to send a message for the people who blindly rated Tlou2 as a good review. After reading numerous reviews regarding about the game-plays, not one has spoken about how the story was written. It makes me believe that they haven't even played the first game yet, and none of them has recognize the father and daughter relationship that made the game a masterpiece in the first place. If only Joel died protecting his only child in the end, then again I might like this game. But no, they went the opposite way. As a supporter of the LGBT community, how the story was written out is unnecessary, and in fact. I would rate this game 3/10 for stunning visual appearance.

I see why people might not like this game as much as the first game, as they were expecting a game with the same quality story as the first last of us, and they might be disappointed when they play the game and figure out that the game is going in a different direction all together. However what people do not realize is that this game isn’t trying to tell as complex of a story as the first game, and what it is really about is the message it is trying to share, it shows you a vicious cycle of violence and death and how your actions can hurt you later on, the message it is trying to share is a great one, and it comes off very strong and does that in a very good way. My downsides to the game would have to be the pacing and the structure, Joel is killed so early that it cements the idea of abby being the villain very early, it would have been nice for us to play as her for more time and really build a connection with this character and realize all that she has lost and gone through and what she has done to get where she is, but it’s hard to empathize with her after our first impression of her is so awful. Im not mad at Joels death but it could have definitely been dealt with better and later on in the game. The story also started to drag after we play half the game as Ellie, go through her struggles and emotions and also collect upgrades, new guns, training manuals ...etc, but then forced to be a character we are supposed to hate, and have to restart from the beginning collecting new materials and guns, upgrading your health and more. Playing as abby wasn’t bad, some of the coolest parts of the game were played as her, but it didn’t feel the same, and you don’t like her, and you don’t sympathize with her when her friends die, because you don’t like them either. All in all, this game could’ve been a bit better if only they structured in better and let us like abby more before making us hate her. But the game has stunning graphics, imagery and scenes, the gameplay is awesome and combat is great. This game doesn’t deserve all the hate because people aren’t truly looking to see what the game is about, and the deeper meaning into the characters lives and how they intersect and weave together to form something bigger. But I cannot stop being conflicted about the gameplay section with Abby, at first my immersion into Ellie was broken because I had to play as the character that did the most atrocious thing in the world of tlou and its first hours of gameplay were the most boring in the gameplay, but then it picks up the action you get more shocking scenes and interesting combat but I still didn’t grow to love or hate Abby, I was just in the middle after we finished playing with her. The begging and the ending of the game are one of the most impactful pieces of media I have experienced in my life, the ending makes you feel at peace, conflicted, accomplished and empty it is truly amazing. The gameplay is 10/10 graphics 10/10 environment 10/10 but the story is a 7/10 if you didn’t play as Abby that long at best it would have been a 9 because it has some pacing issues. I get where ND was coming from as to humanize the enemy but I just feel that her character from her appearance to her actions should have been more humanized like make her more attractive not this John cena type of girl with braids and make her actions not that brutal as to sympathize with her because why would we care for Joel’s killer. If Abby wouldn’t have been playable for that long the story would have been a masterpiece FOR ME, but still that’s why I give it an 8/10 because the story is beautiful but Abby could have been approached differently. Снимается бал за звуковое сопровождение, оно слабое как по мне.
Красота заросщего города - безумие которое меня захватило и никак не возможно судить столь низко эту игру. Она не шедевр, но можно попыться уделить ей хоть капельку своего внимания. However, the story doesn’t make pretty much sense and the character development of Abby it’s not strong enough to make a bond with the player, so it only makes you want to finish playing her “point of view” because the bond of the player is with Joel and Ellie. Also, it’s okay the message the developers wants to teach you about violence and vengeance is wrong and it’s only going to give you tragic and sadness, but it’s kind of... it’s doesn’t feels natural it’s more like an obligation than a cool message.

Of course it’s not a 95-96 like the first part, but forme, it’s more like a 85-88 (thanks to the story telling).

I don't like a few parts of the game, but i understand them. The graphics are good, gameplay mechanics are pratically the same as TLoU1 but with more detailism and brutality. The game is full of shock- and Wow-Moments and has incredibly good written, played and speaked characters, the animations are top notch. I advise everyone who ended this game, let this story sink before making a decision and try to see it from different perspectives. This game is stunning to look at, just like the first. The graphics are so incredible that it almost feels like you are watching real people during the cutscenes. The voice acting is also 10/10.
Gameplay is very similar to the first and so the only real change obviously is the story.
There were a couple of things I disliked about the games story which is why I give it an 8/10 instead of 10.
A fantastically beautiful game but not quite as good as the first. I would definitely like to see a Part 3. Well done Naughty Dog.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us is my favorite game, so I'm not completely impartial, but I think that I'm more impartial than other people that is rating the game with 0 or 10, so here is my oppinion about the game:

The gameplay is a lot better than the first ones, this is nothing surprising considering is a game that was released 7 years ago, but it's a fact that the gameplay of this game its not a bad gameply in fact i relly ejoied it , it brings up new possibilities in the shooting and in the sneak.
The history of this game is what made the people mad, I really think the history isn't as bad as some people say it is, like I've said i quite enjoi the game, I wouldn't complain if in the end you kill Abby, but you dont and I neigther complain in this case, this game has a message, it has a meaning that gives sense to the joels death and too the Abby 10 hour gameplay, in this game the want you to be aware about the consequence of your acts, they want you to know that anyone you are killing isn't just a "bad guy" is a person whit family and friends, when you kill someone in the game their partners will shout their name in pain. the are not just some tarjets for you to shoot theya feel like you and they have lost people like you. Abby kill Joel because Joel killed hers father, and Ellie wants Abby dead because her killed her adoptive father, and the end show us that if you can forgive Joel for sentecing the whole humanity by saving Ellie, the you could forgive some girl taking revenge for hers father. In my oppinion and in my own experience this is a game that deserves a 8 or maybe a 9.

The start was heart-breaking and probably put a lot of players off but on the grand scale on things the game is very human. Not everything pans out like we want it too. The game-play is new and exciting but at times, get repetitive. The story is dark and depressing but very gripping. The graphics are incredible and nothing like I’ve seen before. The only thing missing is Ellie’s happiness in the end, does she go back to Dina? But I suppose that opens possibilities to a potential DLC. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I personally enjoyed the gameplay a lot, and felt it was a very good experience through the way Ellie must adapt to survive. I thought the dynamic between Dina and Ellie was awesome, I enjoyed the way the bonded together and all the exploring. The first half of the game was very good in my opinion, apart from what happened in the lodge and especially the way they did it (I felt the fans deserved better, I knew it was going to happen but not that early and in that matter) but other than that I throughly enjoyed the first half of the game. However, the second half was a bit of a disappointment, why would I want to play as her! Especially for that long - 3 chapters! Tbf, the story for her was alright but the fact that it was her made it less enjoyable, it felt like the developers wanted you to like her even though she has done what she has done. My biggest flaw with the game has to be the ‘boss’ battle, why the **** did they kill that character like it was nothing and especially why did they make you fight Ellie as her! A total joke in my opinion, I want to kill her not try and kill Ellie, I did not enjoy that battle whatsoever. The epilogue was a bit redeeming, with a nice revenge story, but I think Ellie should’ve finished the job, as I don’t want a Last of Us 3 to be about her, she’s a character that maybe is supposed to symbolise Joel and Ellie, but for what she did i think she should’ve have been killed.

Overall, I think the game is a solid 8/10, the scenery and gameplay is top notch and some character bonding is nice to see, but the story at parts lets the game down, especially the ending.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Shocking reading through some of the comments on here. The story makes an incredibly BOLD call in killing Joel so early in the story but if you stick with is and actually invest in the 25 hours of gameplay the story is incredibly rewarding.

We're so used to seeing playable characters as the good guys but this is a beautifully balanced game where Ellie and Abby's story arcs transcends one another. Ellie's morality declines as Abby's rises. Abby and the WLF crew are incredibly detailed with strong, well thought out back stories. When I first switched play to Abby after Day 3 Seattle I switched my PS4 off in annoyance but got so involved with her arc that she is an incredibly likable and selfless character in the end.

Graphics are amazing, the game play feels the same as the first (which does feel repetitive at times) and there are some genuinely horrifying moments (this is a survival-horror after all).

Where the impossible task of coming close to such a fantastic original game TLOU2 does a pretty darn good job and is certainly worth a play through.

A DLC to see where Ellie/Dina are in the aftermath would be very welcomed.

Don't believe the outrage. Play the game first, then make up your own mind.

If you don't rage quit half way through it, the game will eventually win most players back with great gameplay and great writing and storytelling within each chapter of the story.

It's one of the most beautiful and fluid games available on the PS4 in everything from the graphics, environments, sound design, etc. The gameplay is just polished and fun, if a little repetitive.

I think the original did a better job of breaking up the basic gameplay with exploration, puzzles and "mini games" like shooting while hanging upside down or being a sniper with unlimited ammo. While those elements are all present in part II they are not distributed as well throughout the game. The main gameplay is still a lot of fun here though, and definitely better than in the first game.

In the end I was torn between giving this a 7 or an 8. It's definitely an experience playing this game and I do recommend buying it but there's also disappointment because I know this game could have been so much better.

With the release of the Last of Us Part 2, Naughtydog's willingness to take risk has been admirable. The game starts strong, displaying the beautiful relationship that Ellie and Joel shares and soon takes a turn as Ellie's quest for vengeance starts. The game builds itself on the shock factor and showcasing there is no good or evil, just 2 sides of a coin. Speaking of the graphics, it's astounding to see how a 7 year old console can still run such fine graphics with a stable smooth framerate. Naughtydog's, The last of Us Part 2 can be easily categorized as a technical marvel and one of the best looking games of this generation. From the movement of the grass as wind blows to the splashing of water waves, this game does it all. The sound design can easily make one feel they are part of the world. The Last of Us Part 2 is a game that should be enjoyed with a proper headset. Danger lurks around every corner and even if you anticipate a jump scare, the game will make sure to startle you. The Story which the game provides can be some what polarizing and it's ending can make anyone feel dissatisfied. It gives a possibility that there may be a third game in the series. Unlike the first game, Part 2 excessively calls out for a sequel. Whereas Part 1 was a beautifully crafted and self contained game. But what The Last of Us Part 2 lacks in Story, it covers it up in gameplay. Hand to hand melee combat is refreshing and with the addition of dogs there is a much needed change in stealth gameplay. Gone are the days where you could easily hide in tall grass with the enemy standing next to you. The game shines in higher difficulty where the AI is much more responsive and you will have to think twice before taking a path to your next destination. Overall I would rate the game a 8/10. The game is no where close to perfect but still everyone should give it a shot if they are into linear story driven games.

Playing as the main character Ellie on a revenge mission was a little cliche but worked well. The problem however was naughty dog brought in a new character with no real background and this wasn’t explained too well similar to a lot of new characters in the sequel. No background and no real attachment to these new characters showed how focused the company have been on different elements. My big problem with this game was the idea of playing with a character who Ellie is trying to gain revenge on. This character is detestable after her acts early in the game and for whatever reason we have to play roughly 10 hours with this character with naughty dog trying to force it down our throats this character isn’t too bad really. That unfortunately was not going to work which made the story quite bad unfortunately. The parts as Ellie were perfect and fine if the game followed along that path then the story would have been fine. An 8 out of 10 seems fair all things considered. Expand

People are crazy, they give marks without completing the game, supposedly there is LGBT in this game, I understand if Joel was gay, but Ally was a lesbian in the first part. Personally, I do not see LGBT in this game. As for Abby: In the prologue (where her father is alive) they show a non-pumped woman, it follows that she pumped up, because she was obsessed with revenge. Another fact: If the developers wanted to do LGBT, then they would not have made a love arch with Owen. And Dina is bisexual since she has a baby.
