    El juego no es tan malo, lo que ocurre en metacritic es que las personas estan muy enojadas y frustradas porque ya consideraban al juego una obra de arte desde que anunciaron el teaser, tenian expectativas muy altas, todo el marketing estuvo plagado de mentiras, y siendo sinceros unos cuantos haters también(una minima parte)claro que no esta a la altura de lo que fue el primero es mas queEl juego no es tan malo, lo que ocurre en metacritic es que las personas estan muy enojadas y frustradas porque ya consideraban al juego una obra de arte desde que anunciaron el teaser, tenian expectativas muy altas, todo el marketing estuvo plagado de mentiras, y siendo sinceros unos cuantos haters también(una minima parte)claro que no esta a la altura de lo que fue el primero es mas que obvio, los problemas principales estan al principio y al final, dudo que el final le llegue a gustar a una persona, pero si se procesa, minimo se puede llegar a comprender, el juego trata de que sientas empatía por un personaje al que vas a odiar desde el principio, lo pudieron haber logrado solo cambiando el orden de los hechos, lo que intentaron es que veas a este personaje como una asesina a sangre fría y despues te des cuenta que tiene razones y sentimientos, el querer hacer esto terminó explotandoles en la cara, yo en lo personal no sentí tan obvia ni tan forzada toda la inclusión mas que en una escena donde si te la escupen en la cara y no, no es la que tiene el contexto sexual… Expand

    I may not be a fan of all the narrative choices that naughty dog made in this title, but an ultimately dissatisfying ending while disappointing seems to fit the dystopian world of the last of us. Despite this, this game is a tour de force in terms of gameplay, graphics, immersion and storytelling. Rather than cry over spilled milk with respect to the plot choices I didn't agree with, II may not be a fan of all the narrative choices that naughty dog made in this title, but an ultimately dissatisfying ending while disappointing seems to fit the dystopian world of the last of us. Despite this, this game is a tour de force in terms of gameplay, graphics, immersion and storytelling. Rather than cry over spilled milk with respect to the plot choices I didn't agree with, I will simply state that this game is worth playing despite, perhaps even because of this. Anyone who's willing to commit the 25 to 30 hours it takes to complete this game will find themselves enjoying a very memorable experience that has been lovingly crafted. All my friends said that would never happen but I knew it would. The ending was deserved for both characters. Joel killed Abby her dad trying to save Ellie .. Ellie was never in the story for Abby she was just the girl Joel killed her dad over. Then Ellie kills her friends and its a stalemate... SPOILER !! Ellie sees this in the end its beautiful.… Expand

    After playing through the game, trying to understand my emotions, thinking about alternatives, watching pieces of several streamers playing it, reading reviews, and engaging in discussion, I'm ready to declare that this game is indeed flawed, but not bad. And what it does get right, it gets stunningly, remarkably right, on a level never paralleled before in video games, and that achievement dominates.

    This game takes you to an emotional place. It may not be a place you wanted to go. It's almost like going through a rough break-up. Yeah, it sucks, but on the plus side, you find listening to your favorite songs is moving you like it hasn't in years. Evoking that kind of emotion through a video game is...well, when's the last time anyone has pulled that off? Has it been done before EVER?

    There are flaws. The pacing in the middle feels off. The game is long, and it's mechanics get redundant. It doesn't at all feel neat and streamlined. On the story side, some things have all the subtlety of a sledgehammer, and other things require thought to make sense. It's arguable that one line of dialogue, or some different editing, could solve the puzzle to making this a smoother experience in some places.

    ...but there are no major 'plot holes'. Please don't let people tell you there are. Most everything people evoke as one, is either a character flaw, or them missing explanations that are there in the game. Plus, realize that if you want to dislike a piece of media, it's very easy to find reasons to do it. The original Star Wars movie has more weak writing, bad acting, and questionable elements than this game does, but people love it and buy into it because they like the fantasy world it sells them, and enjoy going along. This game, in parts, is deliberately telling you things you don't want to hear, and challenging you with them. Some people did not enjoy that, and even went so far as to reject the maker's intentions in doing so.

    There are some people that will never be happy with the choices this game makes, or what it wants to be instead of what they wanted it to be. Fan service it is NOT. But so many people have not been able to get this game out of their heads. It's inspired more discussion, fascination, and dwelling in its space than the first game did, and maybe more than any game ever has. It's something pretty much never tried before in a AAA video game. I'm happy it exists, and I'm happy I experienced it. If you want a more generic third-person shoot-em-up, you have 1000 other titles to choose from. This is something else, and possibly something landmark and special. Time will tell.    … Expand

    Ok so I have been waiting to share my thoughts on this game for about a day now. I have been looking forward to this game since it was announced back in 2016. The Last of US is my favorite game of all time and I was excited for part II. Luckily I was able to avoid the leaks so I was able to go into the game with an open mind.
    Let's talk about the biggest positives: The gameplay is really fun, the new additions like prone, gun customization and the jump button are nice additions and improvement from part one. The graphics are amazing and all the scenes are Wonderfully acted. I also want to acknowledge Seattle as a whole. It was great. each day/are felt unique and I loved exploring the more open-is area.

    Now for the story. Naughty Dog took a couple risks with the game and I have mixed thoughts on them. So Joel dying in the first hour was really upsetting. It didn't feel real especially since the game was marketed to have Joel more involved in the story. the death was a really good catalyst for me wanting to kill all the wolves. I enjoyed most of Ellies first section. The environmental puzzles slow things down a little too much, however they give you time to get to know Dina and Jesse so there's a tradeoff.
    When we got to the abby section I was extremely angry I signed up to play as Ellie not as some random chick I was introduced to and hour into the game. For the first 3-5 hours as playing as her I really just wanted to go back to Ellie. but as I understood her more and more as a character I began to at least respect her. Once she met lev and started formulating the relationship with she started growing on me. I will say I really didn't care much for any of Abby's friends when they died, obviously they had
    once I got to the first abby Ellie fight I was torn apart of course I loved Ellie and didn't want her to die but I understood abby(the villain) and also didn't want her to die. This strategy of putting you in the villains shoes was a huge risk and I think can only work if you detach (or at least to attempt to) detach your feelings from the characters of part 1. if you understand where abby is coming from I think the story is strong and a bruilty honest look to two sides of a dark world.
    I also want to acknowledge that I liked the difference I combat between Ellie and Abby, they both felt different and unique and the difference in weapons and combat styles.

    The ending I was not a fan off I felt unsatisfied to be honest. I guess the end was supposed to be Ellie forgetting Joel and leaving her ptsd behind. Even though I appreciated the two sided story of Ellie and abby both ended pretty unfulfilled.

    Also people want to complain about the writing and how Joel and Tommy were supposed to be smarter not to trust people. However it is acknowledged later there are tons of traders coming in and out of Jackson. I additon the fact that they were near death and being chased by infected lead to them trusting a stranger.

    Overall I enjoyed the game for what it was. Its not perfect, I was angry at first and confused. But as the game went on I enjoyed it for what it was. If you as a player can get over your feelings about Joel dying and appreciate and understand the two sides of the story it's really a quite unique, creative dark and brutal story that is worth playing. there were some pacing issues and I wish the ending was better but I feel like it leaves room for a sequel    … Expand

Ovearly the game is good, storyline is good but I didn't like that Abby got to live at the end because I can't understand how seeing Joel in her flashback prevents her from killing her. Also Ellie should get more happy ending because of what she was through over this 2 games… Expand

Unfortunately the main attraction of the last of us is a story driven narrative, the last of us 2 lacks the ambition and passion of the first game in the series with the main cast acting out of character and the meaningless and shameful death of a beloved protagonist, nd tried to introduce a stong female character but doesn't understand strong doesn't mean physically powerfull and built like a brick **** unlike ellie who is strong based on her struggles and character.

    Couldn't rate this lower because meta critic is blocking negative reviews

    In my opinion I really like the last of us part II the graphics were amazing, including the game play, the voice acting was realistic and the story which most people did not I did really enjoy but I believe it doesn't beat the first one (don't think anything can beat the first one).     Despite a fairly large number of minuses, the game turned out to be very good, especially if it is not biased towards it, although many people have done the opposite. Yes, there is propaganda in the game, but there are relatively few of them. In general, in my opinion the game is cool, and the average rating from users is undeserved.

    I am someone who enjoyed this game. The combat was great. With the 2 harder difficulties, the only thing I didnt like about it was it was hard to get ammo from enemy's. It was they never ran out of ammo shooting at me but they got off ever last bullet before they dead. The story was good. I enjoy something different when it comes to story. And that was delivered. I didn't give this game aI am someone who enjoyed this game. The combat was great. With the 2 harder difficulties, the only thing I didnt like about it was it was hard to get ammo from enemy's. But regardless it goes without saying that the graphics and level design of this game is truly astonishing, there are quite a few memorable action set pieces.     Most people who rate the game are people who saw the leaks and never played the game. Although I did see the leaks and still enjoyed the game. Its story is not as good but Im mostly someone who just plays games for the gameplay cuz that's what you do in video games play them not just sit there and watch 3 hours of cutscenes that you cant play only watch the story play it

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I completed the game on hard mode, in about 25 hours. Here's some insight to my experience.
    Pros:
    -This game was gorgeous. Everything had stunning detail, the animations and visuals were beautiful. Some is the best of this generation.
    - The gameplay was very similar to the first game, yet added some new variations of weapons, upgrading and gameplay style. Whether if you played stealthily or as a brawler. I particularly enjoyed the segments of fighting the infected. It was challenging , yet enjoyable. I thought the shambler enemy was annoying, but the bloaters were terrifying and extremely fun fight against. The rat king was EXTREMELY fun to fight. An infected since day 1? Gets the mind going, like how did that many infected fuse together? It's crazy.
    -The best part of the story that made me happy were the moments that were shared with Joel and Ellie. When Joel sang for Ellie that melted my heart. After he was gone, she played that song which brought out sadness, knowing that he is gone. It was sad to see how Ellie grew to have disdain for Joel after their time together . Bringing saves out of me. Bringing emotion in a game is a plus.

    Cons:
    Joels death was cheap. I hated how he was killed. There was no context in his death . Then forcing the player to play as the killer. Abby's segment was backwards, the flashback of her father's death should've been first, then we would've known that Joel killed him in the hospital. Knowing that Joel might die by Abby's hand. The story could've been so much better.

    Conclusion:
    This is a good game. I just believe Naughty Dog told the story backwards. We saw struggle, and grief with both Ellie and Abby. If Abby was portrayed in a better light, then maybe her segment wouldn't have been so tedious. Overall, with everything together, I believe it's a good game. Definitely a game that will divide the fandom. I will continue to play it and platinum it. Though, many people won't enjoy it. ND could've done better by Joel, and Abby's story. Overall it's a good game, not Great.    … Expand

    The gameplay is amazing and the graphics are even better.
    I personally liked the story and how it was told. I felt a lot, and i think that's important.
    My only complain is that, as the previous game, the writers of this story have once again treated the Non-White characters awfully. There's an underlying racism that makes the experience quite less enjoyable. Also, the use of the slur against lesbians and the constant use of the Deadname of the trans character was just... meaningless. I understand is a game about cruelty and violence, but these things, as a LGBTQ person, are really out of place. You can address these things without triggering people.
    Nothing else to say, i don't think people are complaining about the right stuff.    … Expand

In my opinion the game was quite good with no noticeable bugs while I played through it. The game looks amazing and sounds amazing. The story did not live up to the last of us part 1 but I wouldn’t expect it to. At first when I had to play as Abby I really hated it and I hated her but after awhile you notice that she and Ellie have the same intercepting story of revenge. I did not however like the boss fight where you have to fight Ellie as Abby. The new characters that were introduced I found that I didn’t really care about most of them other than lev who I thought was a interesting character. Overall I would say that the last of us part 2 was an enjoyable game that does not deserve the hate it is getting.… Expand

    Absolutely loved the game with the gameplay being my only gripe. The first game's gameplay wasn't spectacular neither so this is why I docked two points. Thought the second one was better than the first. People's opinions on this game are very divisive. You either love it or hate it. I'm of the former. Play the game with an open mind and form your own opinion.

The gameplay, although maybe not the big step up in game design we expected is still near as dammit flawless. It's tense and heart racing! The only issue is the story! I don't think anyone here wanted to play as Abby. It's that simple. It ruins the tension of the story and if that content was cut for maybe a DLC the game could have focussed more on the ending which was lacklustre. The people crying over their being lesbians are stupid as Ellie had been a lesbian since the first game ffs, and the controversy with deadnaminf of the trans character is blown way out of proportion!… Expand

Что касается самой игры, это шедевр, в плане графики, анимации и даже сценария. Даже факт убийства Джоела оправдан тем, что его смерть стала сильным мотиватором мести Элли. И посыл игры в том, что месть приводит человека к тому, что он своими руками рушит не только свою жизнь, но и жизни близких, которые так же пошли на поводу мести. Месть это лавина, которая к концу сметает все на своем пути. Но все же, не Элли начала это, и даже не Эбби, целиком вина лежит на Джоэле, который убил отца Эбби. Но разработчики не предоставили вариант что с ним делать, линейность обеих частей кстати и есть еще одна проблема всей истории в целом, но это не так существенно.     I genuinely believe this is a great game in The Last of Us universe. Although tweaks in the gameplay were minor, like going prone and jumping over gaps, I really like the mix between infected and human vs human combat. The balance between going stealthy and blasting in the front door is totally up to the player; you can go either way in almost all situations. Graphics are awesome and really show the capabilities of today's technology. Especially the transition between cutscene and gameplay and vice versa is just barely noticable in some cases, and is the best in any other game I played on the PS4. Furthermore, there are many small details put in the game that will be missed by a lot of players on the first playthrough, and I applaud the game developers at Naughty Dog for putting in the effort to do so!

    My praise for this game goes far but this is however not a 10/10 game, which is mostly due to the story. Decisions in the narrative and storyline seem random and I think the story could have more impact if the order of events was changed. I found an analogy somewhere that describes how I feel about the storyline: "Naughty Dog put each event in the game on a playing card, put them in a deck of cards, shuffled the deck a few times, and then went with whatever order the events ended up in". Other choices in especially the ending of the game, makes a lot of the story so far feel pointless.

    Even though I think Part 2 could have been a lot better, I still think there is a lot more to tell in another Part 3. Especially in Ellie's world, I feel there is a lot more to tell. I didn't feel for the other characters as much as I did in the first game. However, it is still an 8 out of 10 or me.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Tras 6 años de espera desde que jugué por primera vez The Last Of Us Remastered por fin salió la parte 2. Hablo como un verdadero fan del primero y he de decir que este no ha estado a la altura. Posiblemente mi opinión del juego se base en la muerte de Joel y en la gestión del mismo. También creo que pase un par de semanas y habiendo aceptado el impacto de los ****s que se narran, este juego podrá gustarme más. Empezaré hablando sobre todo lo bueno que tiene este juego, que es el 90%. Unos gráficos y arte que supera a mayoría de los juegos de la generación, con el perdón de juegos como Red Dead Redeption 2 o God Of War. La jugabilidad indudablemente ha mejorado muchísimo con respecto al primero, muy divertida a mi parecer. La banda sonora, aunque considero que no ha estado a la altura de la primera parte, es excelente, muy buena. Este juego técnicamente es brutal. Pero vayamos a la parte en la que todos estamos decepcionados: la historia. Objetivamente, no se puede decir que la historia es mala, pero si es mala para ser Naughty Dog y sobretodo para continuar después del primero. La muerte de Joel, el personaje que le dio éxito a The Last Of Us, me parece un poco forzada y demasiado pronto. Esto me lleva a que la historia está mal estructurada, debería llevar otro orden. El personaje de Abby me parece demasiado forzado y sobretodo un error haberla **** jugable durante tanto tiempo. Entiendo que querían que empatizáramos con ella con mecánicas como las de Joel en la primera parte y armas OP, después de que ni medios ni trailers nos avisaran de que Abby iba a tener semejante importancia. Hablando de trailers, me parece una falta de respeto que nos engañaran así en estos, haciendonos creer que tendríamos la aventura con Joel, siendo flashbacks y habiendo cambiado los modelos de los personajes. Mal gestionado por Naughty Dog. En cuanto al final, Ellie se queda sin venganza y sin Dina. Todo el recorrido y todas las personas que hemos matado probablemente sin merecerlo ha sido en vano, pues la persona a la que juramos venganza salió libre. Al final, el miedo de Ellie de quedarse sola acabo siendo real para nada. Dejando a un lado todos los errores de la historia y si nos gusta más o menos me parece un juego de 10, no a la altura de la primera parte pero sin duda un "Must Play".… Expand

    One of the most controversial game, here’s my thoughts about the game after playing for almost 4 days before grab the last platinum trophy, cling!
    1. Graphic: Top notch, sometimes i even forgot to resume the gameplay and using the photo mode, more alike i abuse it to capture some moments. Clack click pic here and there, appreciate the view, the custscenes, enjoy the moment and environment, even the transition from custscene to gameplay never been this smooth, amazing.
    2. Gameplay & Mechanics: definitely more improvement than the first one. So intense, agile, smooth, fast pace yet so brutal, nuff said. The character control is perfectly balanced and have more ways to reach some hard terrain or area while still retaining the original mechanics from the first one. Sometimes a bit clunky but doesnt affect the gameplay that much.
    3. Story: at first time i gave it only 6/10, but when i finished my second playthru, searching every nook and cranny, reading all collectible from letters, Ellie’s journal, all the text thingy you named it, watching all cutscenes, flash backs, pay attention to details while trying to connect with the first game, man it was amazing, such a great storytelling. 6/10 turns into 9/10 for me. You can feel what the character feel and raw emotion. I feel sad, empty, angry, happy, grateful, regret, overwhelmed, sad, sad, exhausted, sad, sad (too much) but yeah, i never felt such emotion from a video game and kinda feeling mixed even after i finished it. Every goddamn scene with Joel and Ellie, it really hit me hard, very very hard. Joel find his redemption thru Ellie on the first game, Ellie find her redemption thru Joel on part 2. This shows how bonding they are each other with unconditionaly love

    Final thought: despite all the leaks are true, Neil said “nothing compares to it if you play the game from the start till the end”, and he nailed it (Neil Nail, OK!). This game is not only about revenge, anger and hate in my opinion. It’s about forgiveness and redemption. And like Troy Baker said, be open minded, life is not that easy and always happy as karma and butterfly effect does exist and the game shows this to me clearly. Everyone deserve a second chance and i see it thru the Ellie’s side and Abby’s point of view during their journey, it’s post apocalypse world where no one is right or wrong, you do what you have to do to survive.

    The most heartbreaking part is the ending where Joel actually saves his baby girl once again in a different way this time. He just want to be a good father and try his best effort to fill the role for Ellie, something that he cant get with Sarah. “If Lord give me a second chance, i will do it all over again”, Joel didnt want Ellie make the same mistakes as he did in the past, something that he cant fixed it, he helped her once again to regain her humanity and sanity. Killing wont solve anything, it only creates another cycle of vengeance and in the end, it will only consume your mind and body. Because of him, Ellie saved. What happen in the past, stays in the past. You cant undo as it already became a part of yourself but you can create a better future. Forgiving is one of the hardest aspect in life as well as regretting. Ellie’s biggest regret is she didnt have a proper final goodbye to Joel. **** happen and live must go on just like he said in the first ending, “no matter what you keep finding something to fight for”

Set pieces were amazing and some of the new characters were actually likable; Lev, Owen, and Dina come to mind. Old characters are just as badass as always, Tommy is a sharpshooting fiend and playing through flashbacks with Joel makes him even better. It’s a technical marvel, just beat my first playthrough in around 23 hours and plan on doing a survival playthrough. I think it is a really solid entry into the series just with not too great of a story. ND tried and failed to get the player to like Abby. No matter what happened I never cared for her. Up until the end when she was so malnourished that she shrunk to the size of Ellie. Do i think Abby should’ve been spared in the end? Hell no, the story is on revenge. That’s what everyone has been trying to get the entire game, then Ellie just lets Abby leave to join the fireflies. Then Ellie can’t even do what makes her think of Joel the most, which is playing guitar, and her wife left her. ND is really trying to vilify Ellie only for the reason of thinking it’ll make someone like Abby a little bit more.

    All set pieces were great, world building was incredible, technical and AI feats, realistic talking and moving AI, responding to names and such, Story was very lackluster, and new characters being very boring are the only 2 downfalls.    … Expand

    However - I get it. I'm not cool with having to play as Abby for half of the game, that part really grinded my gears. But I hugely enjoyed playing this game over all. I love the game mechanics, I love the huge maps where enemies just are around every corner. I loved the additional difficulity of evading the dogs.
    I can actually not praise the graphics enough, the drowned and overwhelmed by nature cityscapes, the modern buildings and technology being taken over by primal forces.
    It's not a perfect game. The constant change of companions wasn't suitable to how I like to play the game, Jessie's death was very unnecessary, Tommy was given more importance than I would have liked him to have given that him and Joel did not seem to be as close as this game makes it seem.
    However, given all the issues I had storywise, I still enjoyed this game a lot. Even if I would have prefered a straight-to-the-point revenge plot.    … Expand

Первая проблема это сюжет, он намного слабее первой части и он построен на мести, что начинает заебывать где-то в середине игры, но в принципе критичных моментов в сюжете я не заметил.
    Вторая проблема данной игры это персонажи, они прописаны очень плохо, практически на каждого персонажа в этой игре мне было плевать, даже когда некоторых персонажей убивали мне было просто безразлично.
    Третья проблема так это, то что игра слишком сильно затянута, ее можно бвло бы сделать немного короче, но возможно для кого-нибудь это будет плюсом.
    А насчет ЛГБТ повестки могу сказать, что ее в игре практически нету, все что есть лесбийские отношения элли и ее подруги дины(что в принуипе нормально и я не вижу в этом никакую рропоганду, тем более это было еще в первой части) ,и один трансгендер, и его проблеме в игре уделили отсилы пару минут и это не критично(но мне кажется, что это быдо неуместно, так как в постапокалипсисе и во время войны с другой группировкой ей должно быть не до этого), поэтому могу сказать, что лгбт повестки в этой игре практически нет.
    В остальном игра просто отличная и я ставлю этой игре 8 баллов из 10, минус балл за сюжет, так как он слабоват и минус балл за недоработанных персонажей и затянутость. Эту игру хейтят незаслуженно и да библейских отсылок тут достаточно    … Expand

You don’t even get revenge on the character who violently and brutally ejects Joel from the series for good and on top of that you're forced to play as that character for 10 hours. Dog S*** idea. Also for Ellie to suddenly have a change of heart and let Abby live after everything she goes through, everything she loses, and everyone she's killed to get to that point was such a stupid and unsatisfying "conclusion".     When I first opened last of us part 2 I expected the game to be a masterpiece. I expected it to continue Joel and Ellie's story and to have an emotional ride.
    After 2 hours of playing the game I realized that what I was expecting is not gonna happen.
    At first, I felt betrayed. I stopped playing the game and thought to myself that I cant keep playing after what they did to Joel, but after a while I continued.
    Even that I wanted the story to be different I had a lot of fun playing the game. The gameplay is great, the graphics are awesome and the soundtrack is just amazing.
    The only issues that I had with the game is the pacing and the order of events that they decided to go with.
    When the second half of the game began I didn't want to play as Abby but I knew the reason for it. The reason was that they showed Abby killing Joel before they showed her backstory so the only thing that I had in mind is just to speedrun her section of the game. If they have changed some of the scenes order I think I would have cared a bit.
    About the ending I was pissed
    But after my second playthrough I understood the meaning behind it and I think that was the right decision to go with.
    8/10- bit disappointed because I expected a masterpiece but overall great game.    … Expand

Now the story.. well , it was emotional , I felt pain of 2 main characters. I can't figure out which one was the antagonist or both were protagonist. Joel's death hit me hard. The path of revenge well that was surely painfull . Abby's story did make me a little angry at times .. specially at the end at the theatre. But later on I guess seeing her at the true end .. I kind of understand why Ellie didn't do it. Their was many endings to be honest. The true end was a little unsettling but kinda saw it coming.     And all main probrems is located in the Abby's storyline: her gameplay is nothing but Joel's from the original game with a few small changes, which makes it boring half of the time. I mean - I played original TLoU from the beginning to the end 5 times(including the highest possible difficulty) and looking at the same gameplay after 3 year from my last TLoU playthrough - is kinda disappointing The same about the Abby's storyline - sometimes it's boring, but I have to admit - it has a good and memorable moments.
    My opinion is that game deserves better than a total resentment for LGBT agenda. This game has a good story(with problems, but still), a good gameplay, a plenty of details and awesome graphics and animations.

They improved the combat, the weapon options were more varied, added a couple new enemy types, and this should go without saying, but the graphics are stunning, I do not understand why being upset about the story legitimizes giving it such low scores as 3 or 0. This is by far not a bad game in any right, but yes I agree the story is poorly conceived and could have been taken back to the drawing boards. The way they killed Joel was poorly executed, especially if someone skipped the first game and just jumped into Part 2. I also think having the player switch off to Abby was a poor choice. My entire motivation through Ellie's initial journey to Seattle was to hunt down the people who killed Joel and get revenge. It takes that motivation and spits in your face when it turns over to controlling Abby. With this being said Abby somehow grew on me and I think gameplay wise she is a lot more fun. Her weapons are more badass, the hunting pistol was so fun for me to play with. I think my favorite thing they did was they improved the trophies for the game, the originals trophies were bad so seeing an improvement made me really happy. Adding the stalkers as an enemy type was genius. The first time meting them as Ellie was so tense. It delved straight into a survival horror feel so quick. Overall I really enjoyed the experience and if the story really affected you that bad I guess wait till its on sale if you haven't already purchased, but I think it well earned it's $60 price tag. There is tons of replay value, trophies to earn, and fun collectibles that are easy to miss. I rate it an 8.5, but I settled with 8 because the story was weak and Metacritic doesn't have decimals :/… Expand

But it was a depressing addition and a solid addition to the Naughty Dog family. Naughty Dog recreated the lore so well. The graphics are just a taste of what Ghost of Tsushima will look like. The story did, however, felt a bit disjointing at points and a bit more editing and tweaking would have helped the story a little bit more. But in the end, it's a great game and when it's all over, you'll find yourself feeling depressed after beating it.

The gameplay also got dull because of how long the game was, but the experience I had playing this game was a ride of emotions and truly a game to play. Don’t let the negative critics ruin the chance of playing this game.

    Graphics: 10/10 - Easily one of the best, if
    not the best looking game out there.

    Environment: 10/10 - The attention to detail was unreal, and the ability to recreate Seattle with extreme precision was remarkable. The subtle, “you have to pay attention to see it” details were the cherry on top of the sundae with this.

    A.I.: 7/10 - Still kind of clumsy. The zombies were still too easy to kill, even with the slightly more difficult combat system. I liked the different factions of enemies, rather than in the first game, where everyone was almost identical.

    Story: 5/10 - Nobody wanted Joel to go out like that. (or in my case, at all.) Having seen spoilers before the game released, I knew it was coming and came to terms with it beforehand. I think they dropped the ball having him die so early, and so quickly. Although it made sense, in terms of where they wanted to go with the story. Playing as abby for 10 hours of the game.... hated it. I figured “hey if I’m not gonna play as Joel, at least I can play as Ellie” but it didn’t happen. It left a bad taste in my mouth. Which wasn’t because I had to play as Abby, but because I wanted to play as Ellie, the character I had an emotional attachment with, not some random forced on me. I also might be in the minority about not killing Abby as well. I think (in terms of the story already laid out) that killing Abby wouldn’t of made as much sense as letting her live. I was upset as first about the ending, because first game Ellie would’ve killed her, just like first game Joel wouldn’t never been in the situation where he died. I gave it a couple days, and I’ve come to terms with those decisions.    … Expand

There is a complete absence of a “feel good” conclusion; one could argue that there is no resolution of the primary conflict, at all. All of this is very unorthodox compared to typical fiction storytelling, and that is going to be distasteful — or even completely unacceptable — for a big percentage of this game’s potential consumers.

    If your primary reason for gaming is the narrative, then unless you have a very open mind, you’re unlikely to enjoy TLOU2. That’s a shame only because the rest of TLOU2 is fantastic.

    It is a technical masterpiece with incredible detail incorporated into all of the environments and encounters. The graphical design and execution is nearly flawless throughout. The physics feel tight and genuine — but not too unforgiving — in melee, ranged, and stealth combat. The lighting is a technical marvel, the sound effects are pristine, and the voice acting is top notch.

    In addition, there are vast number of accessibility, custom controller mapping, and gameplay options; they’re all surprisingly easy to adjust and use. These options have a wide variety of effects on lighting, color, UI, subtitles, and much more — far beyond anything I’ve seen from previous AAA games on PS4. These things enhance the game in a multitude of ways that most gamers won’t utilize, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t worth noting or praising.

    In summary, this is a game with exquisite technical qualities and functionality that honestly deserves high praise despite its flaws in storytelling. If this story was a novel, it would not be a good book. However, as a video game, it’s great. Don’t buy it if you’re not willing to deal with a twisted, sometimes illogical plot. Otherwise, I think you’ll regret not playing TLOU2 at some point this year.    … Expand

    I love this game! It makes you realise that everyone around you is a person who has his own feelings and experience. Another wise thought - violence creates more violence.
    Nevertheless, the gameplay seemed to me too easy. Also, the music wasn't so exciting.

    Just finished the story. The Last Of Us didn’t need a sequel is how I feel. Solid game though, how can you not play it when there’s so many emotional ties connected to the first game.

    I honestly like it better than the first one.
    Next gen visuals on current gen platform. Improved gameplay. Good story that cleverly juxtaposes one character's constant obsession and descent into madness with the others search for good and humanity in a destroyed world. Some supporting characters are not as interesting as they were in the first one.

    I just dont know what to say...the game has its flaws in story and characters. But for the rest it was an amazing ride from beginning to end. Offcourse the game can be better but after i finished it this afternoon im just sitting here like wow. This was amazing. Plus al the bad reviews can kiss my ass!

    Despite the largely negative reception this game has gathered I was very impressed. While it may not be as fantastic as its predecessor it certainly is a great way to cap the ps4. From what I was able to gather many of the negative reviews stem from peoples distate for some of the more controversial elements of the game. But as a whole I enjoyed the hell out of tlou2

And I’d absolutely hate it if the game did this. But I just don’t see any indication of that. Game is great. However, at the midway point about 10-11 hours in, it started to lose me. There’s a cliffhanger and then you’re playing Abby’s side of the story for the next 8-10 hours which slowly began to kill it for me. 2 hours was okay, but then the story began to revolve around new characters you had to help for some reason, which annoyed me as at that point I just wanted the game to reach it’s end. I’d give the game 8/10, as it was still great, but for me around 8-10 hours to long which drags score down.… Expand

The game is supreme in details,gameplay was amazing, I love play with Ellie, the gore scenes, using weapons and its improvements was nice, the cruelty of that world is amazing, the zone of infected humans are scary and awesome, I don't like play with Abby but I admit that scenes and zones was gorgeous and powerful, kill bosses with flamethrower was funny.

    The IA need better perfomance, I played in the hard difficulty, tons of enemies are ALWAYS behind of you, and is easy kill they, is so easy, needs improve better perfomance,

    The history have some incongruousness but the message is powerful, the revenge destroys you, Neil Druckmann catch the scene and the essence , but play with Abby was horrible and nice at the same time.

    The Last of Us Part 2 is a very divisive game. You either hate it for all the pain and anguish it causes you especially at the beginning of the game, or you love it for the experience and the rollercoaster of emotions that this game puts you through.     I must say that I do not feel its a 9 or a 10 for a couple of reasons:
    - Some of the characters needed to be more fleshed out in my opinion
    - At times I was almost going to stop playing because of specific paths the story and gameplay took, but my resilience did pay off, and the message at the end did get through, and I am grateful for it.    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
