    Excellent continuation of the first game, highly recommend! While I wish a couple segments of the story went differently, I was still very impressed with it overall. The message and themes of the game were very thought provoking. Would highly recommend!

    This game is awesome, don't let the negativity of others ruin what is an amazing work of art. Naughty Dog outdid themselves on this one. The attention to detail and story telling are second to none.

    A game with a generic concept (a zombie apocalipse) and a generic gameplay (pretty much borrowed from Uncharted) cannot kill what made it outstanding, which was the relationship between Ellie and Joel.

    What a banger! Plot instantly got me, getting revenge was priority for me after the first 2 hours. Graphics is insane, even on normal PS4. Love it!

    If you think that the first two hours are sad......you will literally remove the disk and break it after looking at the ending....the characters didn't deserve this at all.

    6 hours into this trash of a story. Already feeling disgusted. The game looks amazing and gameplay is brilliant. Giving 1 star for that. Else what they have done to the story is despicable. People like Neil should not be allowed so much power to destroy amazing characters like this. What a shame.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wasn't planning on writing a review for this game but 10/10 reviews are so dishonest that I had to write one.
    This game is not as awful as many people say but that's only due to the action scenes, the story is absolute crap and they basically took a huge dump on the first one (which I loved).
    Firstly, what's good in the game?
    - Action scenes: They are numerous and awesome (most of them are at least, I am not a big fan of the infected scenes)
    - Attention to detail: This is obvious, they really did pay a lot of attention to the details, love the guns, love the bows, love how the glass cracks when you step on it...etc.
    - Songs/Music: The guitar stuff is awesome, I liked playing the guitar in the game
    So what's wrong with it?
    - Characters: Ellie is an awesome character and so is Joel but that's not because of this game but the previous one. The other characters are trash, I am sorry to say. Ellie's gf is a non-character, I'm not sure what Ellie likes about her. She's not funny, not interesting, not cool. Almost the same goes for Jesse. However, the worst is Abby. Why am I forced to play almost half the game as Abby when my first encounter with her is when Joel and Tommy save her and she kills Joel. I don't really care about him being killed, it's a part of stories, the mentor character usually dies to give the chance for the mentored the chance to grow and deal with stuff alone, that's fine. I did not feel any connection to Abby at all, the gameplay was exciting but that's it, I kinda wanted her to die all along. I get the story, I get that Joel killed her father but and that this was a revenge mission for her but why force the player to play with her without giving enough playtime where the player can connect to the character? All the other characters are absolute trash and not even worth the time to write about them.
    - Conversations: Sometimes they seem to be forced, they really tried to make them sound "genuine" but in some places they just fail: the Sherlock joke, the craving it part stand out to me as too forced.
    Overall: Don't buy it now, only when it's cheaper. The gameplay is fun but the story is trash, definitely not one of the greatest ever.    … Expand

    This game leaves a pain in the heart, especially when it is said and done. It never goes the way that you want it to go or you would think it would go. Every character in the game has his own motives, drives and also demons that fights inside. The game does a great job puting you in the shoes of these characters and somehow justify their actions as brutal as they may seem. It really closed very well a cycle of revenge and also actions that had no turning back, to the point that makes you wonder how did we come to this and was this vengeance really worth it after all? ЛГБТ есть и его стало сильно больше по сравнению с первой частью и если раньше это не мешало и выглядело органично, то сейчас это вставляют просто чтобы было. Геи, лесбиянки, феминистки, трансгендеры и тому подобный цирк на колесах будет сопровождать вас всю игру. Напарники могли бы вообще не добавляться в игру, смотрятся совершенно не к месту, никакого интереса к ним вы не будете испытывать, когда Элли начинает ходить одна, вы вздыхаете с облегчением.… Expand

    Bought game, played for 2 hours, watched the rest of the game on youtube in hope that somehow they will cleanup this mess from the beginning.

    It's such huge dissapointment and disaster. The story feels unnatural as same way as the last season of Game of Thrones. Why ? Why didn't you publish it with different title.

    There is zero creditability now for Naughty Dog.

On the technical site the game really shines, everything looks amazing, the acting, the emotions, voiceacting everything is brilliant. 10/10 for me. I got to say it kinda felt like Uncharted 4 with TLoU skin, gameplay wise, which in my opinion is not a bad thing as I loved Uncharted 4.

    Storywise and this is only my personal opinion and I'm happy for everyone who got what they wanted out of the game and the story. We knew the second game will be really dark and I looked forward to this.

    We even knew that Joel would probably not make it and that he would go out one way or the other.. For me personally Joel was my character, I really loved him in the first game and while he may not always made the right decisions, I as a player could still stand behind him because we knew why he did what he did. In the second part we now get to see that some decisions have really harsh consequences.

    I generally like revenge plots in games and in movies but I really did not like the way they tried to play it out in this game. Maybe if we would have gotten more time with Joel & Ellie together, how they developed in the years we haven't seen them and then get to know Abby, her struggles, her story of revenge etc. before she gets her chance to complete her revenge it would have resonated better with me.

    Playing as Abby after she killed Joel made it hard for me to continue and the end didn't do it for me. I think with a better order of events the same game could have been much more enjoyable. I really tried to feel bad for Abby but in the end she was still the one who killed the character I cared the most about. The story had great moments and I don't want to spoil to much but I think this game is still worth a playthrough. Maybe with knowing what I know now I wouldn't pay full release price but it is what it is.

    Ending the game left me feeling empty and unsatisfied, maybe that is what they wanted to archive but honestly I'm not looking forward for a third part.

    I would love to give this game a 10/10 but I just can't. I love ND and I see where they wanted to go with this but it just isn't for me, and that is Ok. I think for anyone that is not as invested with Joels Character as I am the game will be amazing. That's why I give it a 6/10 but remember for you this game could be a 10/10 so play it, in the end it's just a game and it is not on us to decide which directions the creators want to go.

    On a side note, I really have to disagree with people saying that they pushed some kind of agenda in this game. It didn't feel forced and I think it fits the way the game is designed. Sex scenes are normal in 18+ series/movies and shows a side that is often dismissed in storydriven games.    … Expand

    Awesome graphics and story! The gameplay is so brutal, you've never seen Ellie hits the enemies this heavy! Except the gameplay the story is completely mind blowing and so deep that teach you a lot of things. Incredible dualism that will effect the narrative impact in many and incredible ways, thank you naugthy dog.

    The truth is that the killer behind this part is the pure disdain it had to the original. It completely trashes the original character building. If you want a game that ruins all of the progress between Joel and Ellie this is for you. I was so so excited to play this game, Joel and Ellie built up they’re relationship in the first game and that was partly what was so good about it. The only reason it gets a 1 is because it had some nice graphics. We liked the last of us part one because of Joel and Ellie, who on earth thought it was a good idea to not have any dialogue between Joel and Ellie and then just kill him off in front of her, TO PRETTY MUCH START THE GAME?? it’s unbelievable that people thought this was the way to go about it.     I have played through probably more then half the game (about 20 hours), and I hate to say it, but the negative reviews are at least a little true. The sequel has little in common with the first.     I have been left seriously disappointed by The Last of Us 2. Story is lacking and not very good, characters have something missing, and the gameplay seems unnecessarily drawn out and repetitive. Absolutely gutted.

The game, its story and most importantly its characters feel absolutely inorganic, fabricated to represent a forced diversity, while ignoring and neglecting its own plot and setting. The cure plot line, the big objective in this setting, is simply abandoned like a puppy in the middle of the road, the revenge plot gets old fast, playing as the antagonist is one of the worst decisions of the whole game (said antagonist's character is terrible), the way they killed off Joel is laughable, the over-the-top torturing of the main character is simply painful to watch and the ending is pure **** because it feels like everything you've strived for and accomplished in TLOU 1 and 2 was for nothing.     Its like the developer really doesn't understand what made the first game great and so compelling. What made the first game great is the relationship with Joel and Ellie, that all gets thrown out the window in part 2. Just go play the first game and you'll have a much better experience.

Makes for weird gameplay, you are happy to lose. It sucks. The ridiculous added characters and groups. I could of come up with such a better story line naughty dog. I mean come on. The fact this gameplay is no where near as smooth and flawless as the first. They changed they way you craft and changed the ability to hear enemies, it’s not as good. Overall an honest score is a 2. I’m actually replaying the first after being so disgusted by the second and I’m relearning everything I LOVE about the original. Such a good honest story about compassion and love. The second is an agenda based load of crap. They try to create feelings in the game and you cannot do that.     Joel the main character in the first game, is a person that hardly trusts anyone in the first game but in the second game he trusts the character that ends up killing him so easily, completely out of character.
    Not only that but you are forced to play this character right after she kills Joel and with objective to kill the other main character from first game and to make things worse the game tries to make you like her by implying she is not really a bad person which totally does not work.
    The game also has many plot holes as a result of such terrible writing and feels so rushed.
    Well done naughty dog for ruining the franchise and your fans trust.    … Expand

    E não me arrependo hora nenhuma, lógico, teve coisas que não me agradou, mas de resto foi uma experiência incrível!!.
    Se dese pra dar nota 100 era na hora kkkk... Enfim, vale a pena jogar esse game, ou amei.

    Well, people should understand that life can be pretty **** and all the characters have a story. What if someone important dies quickly and in bad way ? In this game you should understand the reasons, to be able to watch from different perspectives. It is about what hate and anger do to people and how far can the characters go, to achieve what they want.
    1. I enjoyed the gameplay much more than in the first one. It is better, it has more crazy creatures, more open (ex: in Seattle with Ellie, with the map), the combat is more interesting, enemies are not that dumb as in other games like this

The flashbacks were awesome, too. Even though the ending made me sad, about Dina and Ellie, I didn't feel to do with Ellie the thing that she wanted to do from the beginning, I wasn't feling like I want to revenge anymore, moreover I just wanted to remain with Dina in that house. Poeple should not forget what Abby did at the theater, they could have been dead. The story could be different but we should really not cry like babies to the developers. This is a masterpiece in its own way, even if you like it or not, a 7-years-work which gives us what no other game give, something really different, something not all the people can understand.    … Expand

It was such a beatiful game... little details and all, so gorgeous it was insane, I get what you tried to do Neil, but Im afraid I didnt get nearly the same feeling I did from the first, I waited awhile for this game and gave you guys the benefit of the doubt when all this stuff was coming out on youtube, but it just didnt do it, it was tear jerking at the end because of everything that was going on but it left me with a confused mind, I just didnt see the same energy that the first one had, I may be trippin or somethin. Neil it was a great game, I see the direction you tried to go with but it was just the writers, too many moments I had where I didnt give a fk about the other side of characters and felt it was just there so you would feel bad about what the future holds for a certain individual, but you have to understand nobody actually sees this reality because you're only one person, nobody knows what someone else went through to get them into the position they are in at the moment, so the whole guilt trip thing doesnt feel right especially "near" the ending. La verdad pienso que es un gran juego, vale la pena jugarlo, en aspecto de gráficos, banda sonora, jugabilidad son una delicia, en general todo el juego, se que hubo mucha gente que no le gusto el juego por la historia y que les pasa pareció forzado el guion, pero a mi en lo personal me encantó el juego, la historían no me la esperaba con la muerte de joel y que él fue el responsable de la muerte del papá de abby, le duela a quien me duela Joel tenía que pagar, a mi incluso me dolió ya que me encariñe demasiado con el, pero acabando el juego lo entendí todo, el debía morir, abby mas que nada quería vengar la muerte de su padre, a mucha gente también no les pareció el final, ya que ellie le perdona la vida a abby, pero fue lo correcto ya que ellie demostró ser mejor y no seguir en ese círculo vicioso llamado venganza, así que todo debió pasar tal cual, the last of us parte 2 me dejo con una sensación rara pero a la vez buena, un juego que me hizo sentir muchas emociones, sinceramente el juego me encanto, tal vez the last of us 2 no es para todos ya que contiene un gran significado y enseñanzas.… Expand

If any of the positive reviewers have ever played the first game with any shred of attention or passion for it then i really don't understand where they are comming from calling it great and inronically calling the story a supposed "masterpiece" ... Whereas the first game is unforgettable due to the tone it set, combining bitter reality with a theme of hope, and well established characters that we all grew to know and love, the second game almost spits on all that was built up, and presents us a world that doesn't correspond with the theme astablished, and characters who are anything but a continuation of what they were and are. Joel was going to be killed eventually yes due to what he did at the end of the first game, but the way they did it in the second is just purely **** writing. When it happens, nobody knows who the **** Abby is, and after that we are expected to play as her to only then after 10 hours understand who she was and why (taking the fact that she is a super bland character with no real draw or motives out of the picture for a second). A proper execution would have been for us to first understand who she is, and where she is comming from and then have it lead up to the climax of confronting Joel. Combine that with the fact that Joel is established in the first game as a very mistrusting person, always seeing through traps, people's intentions and even not trustinnlg Ellie with a switchblade (out of fear she might hurt herself that is). Having him walk into a base with strangers, giving up their names with their guard fully down is the last thing he would ever do. The writer took him out of character for an opportunity to kill him off quick for shock value, and to even be able to insert his cgi self spitting on his corpse, this whole seen and that move can therefore be seen as a spit in the face of the fans by Druckman himself.

    Its also just plainly bad writing to make it seem like Joel saving her life didn't matter **** to her ... if the writers had actually bothered to put some depth into it they could have made it into a longer played out internal conflict that would have made for an actual good story.

    Now the story is just about 24 hours of constant revenge while simultaneously having a political agenda shoved down your throat. It doesn't belong in the world that was so cleverly thought out and brought to life in the first game. The zombies are so absent from the story now that they could just as well have been removed, so now the suspense they created in the first game is reduced to them feeling like some annoying npc part of a puzzle to get to the next cutscene

    Its just a whole game long where the player has to carry out one person's revenge fantasy after the other ... there is no depth to it, just a rinse and repeat viewed from different perspective played by characters that feel like husks compared to the complexity they had in the first game... Also there is no exiting goal anymore ... no outcome to work towards, just revenge upon revenge upon revenge plot

    Also the tone is nothing like what we got in the first game. The first game was already set in dark bitter reality so i don't buy the whole "but its more like reality now" argument, but the thing that kept you playing and made the game so good was the underlying tone of hope that carried the characters through, gave the story its gripping aspect and made everything feel like it mattered. At the end of the second game there is nothing you have really accomplished. No goal was reached that meant anything, we are left with some dead people, the villain walking away and being better off than the protagonist and no sense of satisfaction whatsoever. Its just 24 hours of "i kill u cuz i mad that u killed this person"

    So no, the story was just a prime case of lazy, bad writing anf showed no respect for artistical integrity. Joels death was done poorly and in total disregard for who we got to know in the first game, and so was the rest of the story. Badly written, shallow, it really added nothing of value to the timeline and on top of that tried to be way to political for the environment it takes place in. At the end of this game, there is no sense of accomplishment or satisfaction, we are left with an empty feeling, wishing we'd have never walked into this game and had just let the story end where the first game did. hence the story in all its aspects really just is a bunch of horse****, and a slap in the face for fans of the first game.    … Expand

A Naughty Dog game most important aspect is the story and this game’s story is so bad, it hurts my stomach just to think about it. Neil and ND lied to us saying this game was about Joel and Ellie, false marketing and fake trailer.

The environment is great, I love the open world aspect and being able to enter random buildings, all the new game mechanics are great too, the story is also amazing. I'm not disapointed at all, all the people who are eating the game bad before even playing it or just eating it bad because Joel died shouldn't be playing video games. ND, you created a trans character in a massive AAA title... but you have done nothing but make people hate and resent her, doing great disservice to the trans community. You could have redeemed this character... but you've only stereotyped a large swath of the LBGTQ+ community. This character could have been a great ambassador to gamers all around... but you've fostered nothing but anger towards queer people by being pointlessly provocative.

Joel’s dead, he paid for his actions by slaughtering not only many soldiers in the fireflies but their leader AND a surgeon and his team who are just trying to better the world. I understand he did it because he was helpless when it came to his daughter in TLOUs beginning. With that said, retribution was coming swift for Joel since that incident, it was just a matter of when. If people who enjoyed the first game understand one thing, happy endings aren’t always what happens. ND did a great job with characters in this game, development of mechanics and fleshing out of the world and exploration that grasped us in Uncharted 3-4 mostly. Ellie’s story, and Abbys takes us on a ride where we have no clue what’s going to happen, seriously, almost every character that mattered and was introduced died in brutal, quick fashion. This is not the life of the apocalypse or after every sense of normality is gone, but a tale of how revenge brings nothing but misery and pain to everyone around that person. Joel, Jesse, Mel, Owen and the rest of the Abbys friends all died because of the revenge they both sought. What impacted me was the cutscenes and when Joel had told Ellie, “you have to stop letting people get you so riled up.” And he was right. The ending is what struck me speechless, the fighting, Ellie’s missing fingers, and letting Abby leave after a quick flashback memory to Joel being in his element on the porch with coffee and his guitar. Ellie let go her rage at the end, and started taking his advice, in a way, forgiving him for what he did and hopes that she could be decent in some way. When Ellie returns home, it’s empty. This puts it and nails home the whole point of this game. Like it or not, it’s well written, composed beautifully from the character development, storytelling aspects, gameplay mechanics, graphically beautiful and most importantly a really good lesson hidden in plain sight, revenge is a fools game, and playing it hurts more then it helps. Play it for yourself, let everyone stay mad as small aspects of the game and the “plot holes” (which I found none), and form your own opinion.… Expand

Killing the main character after an hour of play, why ???? Ellie is a lesbian, bro. Sex scene, why, and in the end you leave this whore alive, her father died, what does it matter and Ellie has no parents, so what, now she has to kill the whole world even though she has already done it. Joel did it and Abby the whore knew, she came for revenge, if she killed all hers. The story sucks, a lot of looking back… Expand

    La verdad tengo una sensación de tristeza profunda con este juego, su apartado técnico está bien, es acorde a las exigencias de final de generación, para ser honesto no veo muchos cambios profundos respecto a primero, no es un God of War o un Red Dead que sí son magistrales pero no está mal, el punto va por su historia, por este toque político y esa inclusión forzada; en el primero sabíamos todo lo de Ellie y la verdad no importaba, era natural, Rilley era todo lo que ella conocía y era normal que la amara, aquí me dicen que la hija de un personaje x se hace trans, sí trans en un mundo en el que se sufre para comer una persona se cambia casi de sexo rompiendo con toda la lógica del mundo planteado, el problema es y no es ese personaje, no tengo nada en contra de esa comunidad, pero si me molesta cuando se usan como una propaganda de lo PC, la verdad el juego desafía su lógica, mata al personaje que queríamos ver; el TLOU era la historia de un padre al que el mundo le quita todo y que el después le roba algo al mundo, luego sabe que su decisión lo condena a perder después de todo, pero no, aquí tiremos un argumento sin sentido diciéndole a quienes esperamos esto por años, miren, ustedes no nos importan, es mejor tener felices a ciertos grupos que ni van a comprar el titulo pero así nos vemos mejores; es por esto que va mi 0, porque el juego no me da nada, solo unas nauseas tremendas. Cuando God of War sali´´o tenía miedo de ver qué habían hecho con Kratos, la paternidad no era para él, ahora veo que crecí con el, lastima que TLOU P2 no creció con nosotros, solo quiso complacer a quienes ni son su publico, lamentable...    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
