    You either love it or hate it.

    At first i was mad, not because the game was bad or something. I was mad because it hurts me and made me feel things i never felt before... And yes i played it 2 times just to make sure that i was feeling that stuff.. and man this game is heavy and so powerful. I understand why some people hate it and that's happened because this game isn't it for    You either love it or hate it.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. You can never ever truly understand a story. If you weren’t completely physically or emotionally involved. So we do our best to judge the experience due to the amount of information we are given. TLOU 2 could not have been more Clear. It’s a Revenge story. TLOU pt1 was a story searching for an answer that we never got. “Is Ellie Truly the cure to mankind?” You are left questioning yourself if what you did as Joel was absolutely 100% all worth it. I guess we will never know now. TLOU 2, things we can all agree on. Mechanically the game works well nothing revolutionary but it works. The game looks good we expected that. I mean we are at the end of the PS4’s life line. Musically, sound, & audio etc....of course it sounds great as it should. Story...well...now here’s something that we disagree on. It all depends on your quest. 4yrs have gone by & that’s a long time. Lots have happened in the world since we last saw Joel & Ellie. In an instant the entire plot of TLOU pt1 goes down the drain because of a character seeking revenge. Immediately it leaves the player thinking WTF just happened?! If NaughtyDogs purpose was to create a part in a game. To go down as the most upsetting Scene to ever be written in video game history. They just won the award for that! Congratulations NaughtyDog! Put yourself in Abbys shoes for one second. I wonder how many Abbys exist in the world of TLOU. Maybe the world was filled with Abby’s since the very beginning. We didn’t see that because we were so concern on hoping that we would find a cure. If you play as Abby and you can relate & sympathize for this Character. In your quest this is who you are in the world of TLOU. I think most of us were seeking and still searching for answers. That’s the Quest that we were hoping for.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us 2 wasn’t the game everyone wanted, but to me it pushed boundaries by evoking so many hard to swallow aspects of The Last Of Us world. It’s a masterpiece.

    I loved how this story was constantly changing my perspective on things. It went from “what is going on with you Ellie? Give Joel a break” to “go **** them up Ellie” to “I really don’t want either of these characters to die”. By the end, I was struggling to mash the square button to kill Abby, wincing as the animations are playing out. Some parts were hard to watch, but that was the point.

    The level design was outstanding. The attention to detail in each environment was amazing and the set pieces were varied and interesting. The visuals were top notch and the animations were next level. All the intricate facial expressions to the little hand movements, again the attention to detail was insane. Can't wait to see how it runs on the PS5.

    This game is a perfect example of destroying a whole universe and your reputation. Let's cut to the chase.
    Joel's death, the way it happened. It's ok to kill a main character. But the way you do that and curcustances ARE important. That scene wasn't even horrible/shocking/whatever devs wanted to show us, it was pathetic. Why did you do that? Just to shock the audience? Well, killing a main character does not make you a great writer. To give Ellie motivation so story can go further? But the revenge didn't happen. So what's the point? Kick off the MAIN character at the very beginning like he is nothing. Like he is not even secondary character - devs represent him as tertiary character. Even secondary characters in video games (the first game, for example) have much more respect to them. I still can't believe this happened. The way you did that is such a disrespect to a character and story at all.
    Playing as Abby half of the game. Really? This game is ALL about Joel and Ellie, so why should player even play as her HALF of the time? No one even cares about her. Especially if this character beat a beloved character to death. And then, devs wanted us to sympathize her? It's pretty stupid.
    The ending. The ending is the worst I've ever seen in my life. Just imagine - Abby has beaten Joel to death. Ellie chased her down. To forgive her. Wow, how? What was the point? To prove revenge is bad? And now Ellie has nothing. I'm just speechless.
    Marketing. You showed the audience the scene with Joel in one of the trailers. And then you replace him with secondary character? Really? "Subvert expectations"?
    The hate about the game. Go to reddit/youtube/twitch if you want to know the real reason why all the people are upset about the game. The REAL reviews. Don't developers even see the REAL situation, the real failure? Such a spit to the original game. You wanted a strong woman? You had one in your own game - her name was Tess. Another one? Boom - Marlene. Now people hate feminism and anything related to it even more. Even LGBTQ+ community downvoted this game because of wrong representations. Everyone is losing with this game. Devs, players, LGBTQ+ community, females, males, black people, white - everyone.
    This game is called "The Last Of Us Part II", right? Then, it is supposed to be about the same characters, story, right? Because it has "Part II" it the title. But no. The only few things that have something in general with the first game are - title, flashbacks. That is all. It is not even close to the first one.
    The only reason why I don't put 0/10 is the graphics and the environment design. That is all. That is the only good thing that I can say about this game - "It just looks pretty". Anything else is just as bad as it could be and even worse. Oh, flashbacks are pretty good. I have never seen in my entire life such a disrespect, lazyness and luck of ideas. You must be either lazy or don't even care about your own game. Or both.
    I had been waiting for this game for 4 years. Someone had been waiting for even 7 years. And at the end we did get this. Can you even imagine?    … Expand

    Massively disappointing after such a long wait and so many promises. All the beautiful rendering, excellent voice acting and epic size of the game counts for nothing as the writing has created a revolting small minded and incompetent description of what people are. Naughty Dog appear to have got what they wanted, the game is no fun at all.

    I created an account just for this. What in the absolute hell did they think they were doing? Just trying to be edgy? I dont care but it was terrible in every way, especially the last couple chapters of the story. I will give it a 1 for great graphics and gameplay. Honestly though just wish I wouldn't have ever played it.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Честно, игра не 10/10 , но уж точно и никак не 0/10. В ней есть проблемы в плане затянутого геймплея , непонятных сюжетных ходов и другово. Но в целом игра замечательная. Но основной хейт к игре ( но не весь. Конечно, в игре есть и обьективные проблемы ) связан с двумя сюжетными ходами: смертью Джоэла в начале и с тем, что в середине игры мы начинаем играть за Эбби. Но если кому-то захотелось поиграть в игру, где мы снова за Джоэла и Элли в команде проходим сложные жизненные препятсвия, можете переиграть в первую часть. Это же новая игра, с абсолютно другой историей. На счет игры за Эбби, это же было сделано как раз для того, чтобы обьяснить мотивацию персонажа и , понятное дело, заставить нам ему сопереживать. Ясное дело, что как только нам дают управление за нее, мы относимся к ней крайне негативно и думаем что ни в коем случае не будем ей переживать. И по-моему многие кто говорят про то, что их разочаровало, что игроку дают управление за Эбби, просто не прошли игру до конца. Конечно можно не начать ей сопереживать, но уж хотя бы перестать ее ненавидеть, отчего концовка уже и не кажется такой нелогичной.
    И может бы и стоило добавить в конце возможность выбора, но тогда бы потерялась сама суть самой игры: last of us это как фильм, где мы проживаем моменты жизни вместе с героями и налаживаем с ними тесную эмоциональную связь, наблюдая за всеми их действиями и принимая их.
    Мне же игра вполне понравилась, хотя там и есть понятные проблемы, ввиде затянутости геймплея , слишком невнятных смертях , которые ты толком не успеваешь осознать и в других вещах. Но так же в ней есть и множество хороших вещей. Игра явно запомнится мне на долгое время, оставив после себя определенные эмоции и мысли, на счет которых начинаешь задумываться.    … Expand

    My favorite game ever, this will be the game of the decade if a top contender, the story is very well plotted, to get the feeling of playing as abby who i once hated because of what she did to Joel, they made her reasons justified. And the story of ellie is heartbreaking and makes what this story great. 10/10 would recommend anybody play

    First 1/3rd was amazing. Couldn't leave the game because I was so wrapped up in the storyline. 2nd third became slightly monotonous but was important for character development. Third third of the game was edge of the seat storyline again. Couldn't wait to see how it finished and wrapped it all off.

    One of the best games of the outgoing generation. A very strong and touching story, the ending of which does not “let go” you a few days after passing. Great study and great picture. Many thanks to the Naughty Dog team for the work done.

Yes, Ellie didn't kill Abby, you may think she lost everything, but eventually, by saving Abby's life she breaks the cycle of violence and gets humanity.… Expand

    This game broke my heart more than once, but what makes me even more heartbroken is that the game, naughty dog and especially neil druckmann receive so much undeserved hate from "fans". You don't have to like the games story or how it ends (I did neither), but still have to recognize this masterpiece and what it does to you...

    Absolutely garbage. I could literally rant all day about it. Like literally 24 hours worth of salt. If you liked the first game at all and felt any meaningful connection to the characters you’ll hate this game. If you hate good story telling and love to suffer though, this is the game for you.

    This is the best game experience i've ever had (in 23 years of gaming), TLOU2 is really almost perfect, the story and the characters, the mimics, the graphics in total, the sound, the atmosphere. The controls feel far better than in part 1, the characters are more responsive, the enemies are way smarter. And i have never felt so curious about what happens next. I love this game for switching perspectives, for feeling into other characters and into 'enemies', for all this deep emotions, for not once again a perfect superhero like Tomb Raider, for not once again showing faceless and mindless enemies without emotions and stories, for Ellie seeking revenge and showing us how wrong this is, for Abby, the main enemy, being more empathic and sympathic than Ellie. And i love this game for Ellie and Dinas fantastic love story. This is the first game of a new era. And it will always be the standard to meet with. Yes, this game is often brutal and violent and depressingly emotional, the story often hurts so bad you almost can't stand it. However, while playing this game you can feel that this game is 'good' to the core. TLOU 2 is next level in so many ways. If you do not have a PS4 yet, this game is reason enough to get one. Best game ever played!

I do not think that if Joel and Ellie were together, as in the first part of the game, that it would be tired - no. On the contrary, it would remind my soul of even more warm emotions. The developers wanted to fill people with emotions, they did it, but these are not the emotions that I want. it was possible to write a plot without the death of the main characters.     Once again Naughty Dog have made the defining game to bring to a close the current generation of consoles.

    The story is exceptional, the acting incredible and the game beautiful.

    I've loved every moment playing this game. I cannot understand all the day 1 negative reviews. Just a lot of butthurt homophobes and misogynistic muppets.

    我觉得还可以，没有那么差。
    最后艾比还是挺惨的，那么期待可以找到火萤，但是最后被欺骗了，连自己的伙伴都保护不了，至少当时乔尔还是保护到了艾力，自己活着也有意义了。艾比不但没有保护到，还坑了自己的同伴，那受到了应该有惩罚，我觉得这个比死还要痛苦。

I hated how they killed Joel so early and I didn’t get a chance to play as him at all. I also really hated how I was forced to play Abby. But as the game went on I got the story and it was compelling. The Abby parts were actually fun because she had awesome weapons. In the end I was actually hoping the two could some how reconcile. But I commend naughty dog for being able to show both sides of a story and genuinely make you care for both sides. For what it’s worth I think those who complain about the story on how they forced you to like Abby are the type of people who always complain without providing any alternatives. Naughty dog had a story it wanted to tell and it required us to like the bad guy. Not only like the bad guy but like the bad guy who killed a beloved character we spent the majority of the previous game playing as. It’s a mountain for them to climb and I don’t know how else they could have achieved this. I still don’t really like Abby. But I get her side. People are rarely the villain in their own story.… Expand

The only good thing about this game is it's gameplay and graphics, but it feels like a schizophrenic monkey wrote the story to this game, the pacing was awkward, the deaths were so out of place and random, nobody even learned anything from the deaths that occurred. Joels death seemed too early, I would be fine with them dying, but the way he died and the way it went was so heart crushing and painful to watch, the whole game felt painful to play, only a few scenes were nice. I am unhappy with the fact I had to play as abby for 10 hours, I barely could manage to keep playing, I was ok with small scenes to switch the story up, but 10 hours of the person who completely destroyed the heart of the entire franchise abruptly? I'm sorry, it does not work. They tried so hard to make me sympathize with abby, but it is literally impossible on how forced it is. Same with going after abby AGAIN, it was so unneeded, and weird. I'd understand if you were going as tommy to get abby the second time, cause they have a full motive to do it. Ellie is living a happy life, and just throws it away? Come on. They legit just threw Jesses life away for nothing. Not even Dina learned anything from that. They had so much potential, but threw it to the ground. The Dina and Ellie moments were nice, same with the Joel flashbacks. Thats it though. Good gameplay, graphics, sadly that is all I can say.… Expand

    absolute worst ending to any game Ive ever seen, they really fumbled this one trying too hard for that shock value then trying to switch up the revenge story at the end and all of a sudden ellie has a change of heart? thats the most unrealistic **** and it physically made me mad how dog**** that ending was.

    ... It really is a magnificent tale of revenge, gameplay has gone a long way since the first episode and even after 16hrs of gameplay, I still find details I hadn't paid attention to in the beginning.

The characters are interesting and I like that they show the other side and the story of Abby. We are in the world of a deadly pandemic, there are no right ir wrong anymore. Neil Druckmann said this game will be different with a different message. Obviously we can argue about losing a beloved character, there is no right way for that.

    TLOU Part II story is stronger and more complex than the first part. It is a great sequel and give a beautiful closure for Ellie. She went through hell in Last of Us Part 2 she struggles with hate, revenge, love and mercy. She pays the ultimate price for her revenge. She doesnt make the right choices in number of occasions but at the end she did a right thing to let Abby go. Brilliant game with a great message. It is not for everyone and you do can see that in the user scores. (However this is still result of hate campaigh of some clickbait youtubers based on the leaks and false information).

    Also I would like to add that the previous part story line was predictable but still exceptional, however, part two has strong turns and twist from the very start till the end. It pushes everyone to look a bit in themselves and ask what would I do? would I have the strength to do this? This level of complexity in story and characters is externally rare in videogames but even in filmmaking. I also fund it genius on how involved the players become from begin. Neil Druckmann and his team created a truly misunderstood masterpiece.

    It is great just like the first part and please give it a true chance and if you really loved the first part than don’t listen to all the hate and misinformation! Make up your own mind and opinion!

    TLOU fans loved the bond between Joel and Ellie and that's what many expected to see more in part 2 but instead Naughty Dog (ND) decided to kill the main character brutally. Within the first hour, the story lost its purpose and we play the rest of the game heartbroken to explore the crap. It took me a day to get back to the game and finish it.

    On one side ND injects anger against Abby, the person who killed Joel with no mercy, and later we play as her. I hated every single moment playing as Abby as she doesn't deserve the screen play. She popped into the game like a random ad.

    We played the whole game to take the revenge and after all the hassle we let Abby go. Why?! Where is Ellie's big mouth which always disrespected Joel and argued? ND completely ruined the story and I wish there was no part 2 for The Last of Us. The trailers were completely a bait to encourage everybody to buy the game and get themselves disappointed.

    **ROMANCE**
    Comming to the back and forth scenes. There was no point of Romantic scenes while the players are eager to kill Abby! I wasn't able to explore the environment, kill enemies and infected with the same energy when I played the first part. **GLITCHES AND BUGS**
    The AI, Diana and other followers, tend to block my path and sometimes kicks us out of cover. Moreover, my character glitched at a point when getting on the boat. I streamed it for 3 minutes on YouTube for the record (Riz_Mub).

    After waiting for 7 years, The Last Of Us fans were stabbed in the back and their emotions were completely ignored. Naughty Dog ruined the story. I regret pre-ordering my game and a special thanks to Anita Sarkaseen for ruining the game.    … Expand

    Cheers from Russia. This game is amazing. Graphics, gameplay is awesome (especially at max/survival difficulties). I love the atmosphere and new locations as well. Yes, as a TLOU fan i was shocked and frustrated with SOME SCENARIO MOVES, but, at the end, i got it. Yes. This is game is almost a masterpiece, i would give it 9/10. Minus point for some agenda and some story desicions.

    structurally, the story takes a near 10 hour detour introducing you to new characters and storylines that are completely ancillary to the main plot,

Which is actually surprising as Naughty Dog is usually the developer with best stories. They created a wonderful story in the Part I. They developed Joel and Ellie characters bit by bit. And what did they do in the Part II? They immediately killed one of the beloved characters, they force you to play for the killer of that character - Abby. We forced to play as Abby without any knowledge about her and, honestly, her character development is by any means weak. In the end I left with the feeling that they wanted to end the story with Ellie and Dina "happily ever after", but understood that they have f**ked it up and made a kind of continuation in Santa Barbara. So all in all I'm very disappointed in the story. I expected much better from Naughty Dog studio.… Expand

    A great game, awesome revenge cycle story. Fun diverse game play. Awesome cast. Heart wrenching scenes and nail biting finale in which I had to pause multiple times before I could handle it ending. Which was a bit surprising and when I thought it would end another scene started.

    Completely recommend, but play part 1 first.

TLOU2 tries so hard to be deep and thought-provoking, that it not only makes it a bad game, but also ruins much of the sentiment built after the first one. The gameplay has barely evolved since the first game, making it average but still ok. Graphics are stunning, but scenery is not as varied as in the first game, although this is mainly just due to the time scale. Maybe this would be a 5 as a standalone title, but it does need to be held up against its 7 year old predecessor and is one of the largest disappointments in recent gaming history.… Expand

    The last of Us part 2 being the biggest challenge naughty dog has had it is definitly a must play for the people who enjoyed the first game.
    Besides the Breathtaking gameplay and graphics that look stuning the story is the main foval point and the better.
    All do i can see why people would not enjoy this game no one can deny That the story is inovative and is amazing!

How do you mess up a story this much to the point you don’t even understand what’s going on? The story is horrible, its starts off by killing Joel and you play as the killer for majority of the game while Ellie plots her revenge in the background. It’s literally the equivalent of in your favorite show if mid-way through the season if some random person comes in and kills off the main character and replaces him/her. So much stuff just randomly happens that doesn’t make sense or is ever explained. Like many times through the game you get into these big moments and you think something is going to happen for it to just randomly stop or be interrupted without explaining anything! Why did you guys stop fighting? Why are we here now? Where is this? It’s so choppy you don’t even get to process what is happening. They went from this great story telling to just figure it out yourself. Graphics, game play, voice acting are amazing but the story is what needs to carry the game and it just wasn’t there.… Expand

I knew he was going to die (after everything he did in the first one YES he deserved it) But once i got into it DAMN the story was good. Make no mistake there are NO heroes in this game. This is a BLEAK story but if your able to get passed your personal bias and understand no one is the good guy in this game. You will enjoy it, the combat exploration, enemy AI and the expression of everyone face while they fought is just such a massive improvement over the first one. Give this game a fair chance knowing everyone is the villain in someones story and its great.

    Ill say i think the story would have been a bit better if it was not done in flash backs. Seeing Elie grow and her anger at Joel would have made his death less of a surprise for those coming into this game thinking Joel was the hero. I hope for some story DLC but i will say Just like the first game after you beat it once there is no real need to go back in.    … Expand
