It’s not better than the first one but this one is really good. The graphics are really good and the mechanics are good too. I hate Joel’s death not only because he died but the way he died and the fact that you play as a killer makes it worse but after completing the game I understand why she killed him. Although Joel was a really good character he wasn’t really a good guy which made him a target. The ending was bad but it made sense how Ellie saw that Abby was kind of like a Joel to Lev and so she decided not to kill her. Expand

Everyone who is giving it a 1 or a 10 is what’s wrong with the gaming community today. The game takes risks, some work some really don’t. But it will engross you like very few narratives before it will have. The gameplay is tense, fluid and frankly incredible. It isn’t a masterpiece by any means, but everyone who is giving it a 1 needs to seriously stop being a little biitch about everything

The 2 things I didn’t enjoy at all were Joel’s death and playing as Abby for 10 hours or something. Gameplay is top-notch Naughty Dog. I had so much fun as Ellie, skulking around doing stealth kills, scavenging & crafting, and shooting mofos both human & non. Environments are gorgeous, dread-inducing and fun to explore. What surprised me the most, though, was how much I enjoyed playing as Abby. Her whole persona & mechanics seem to be ND's darling of this game, and I can see how for some players this just added insult to injury.

I wanted to give this game a 9 or even a 10, but the big weakness is still too glaring. And that is this: this game, whether intentional or not, has utter contempt for the player. It forces you to do horrible things to people & animals in Ellie's petty revenge quest, and then it forces you to play as Abby, the story the whole time **** on you for doing what the game forced you to do as Ellie. It was so badly conceived. And yeah, literally spitting on Joel has garnered an appropriate backlash. I actually deleted the game from my console at one point; however, I was still drawn back in and had to take it to the finish line. I'm glad I did.

I wish so badly that Naughty Dog's next game takes the things that worked here, and creates their next game with the player in mind. We don't need to be taught a morality lesson in such a poorly-executed fashion. This could have been so great. Instead it's just good, despite the game's best efforts.

People saying its "showing down our throats SJW agenda" are people who havent played the first game either then, since the themes are very very visible in that as well, but because it wasnt advertised as such, they havent seen it.

The game is made well, it has a good story, the npcs are a bit wonky but one can work with that, the world is good looking, and the mechanics are improved a lot on the wonky movement from the first game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Talking in general, this game have revolutionary settings of accessibility, an amazing visual aspect and great work. BUT, the story is so frustrating, starting with Joel, the kill that it's so close to the very first star of the game, I didnt have thougths about Abby till she appear. How can we be motivated by the people that have killed HER "FATHER". i was only looking for some rougth moments but instead of that i had a very bad feeling in my heart that Joel has died by some **** girl that i didnt know. The script has been SO oppressed, the gameplay was so empty, same as TLOU1; the world does not move with ellie, and it could have been wonderful if he had died at the end of the game, introducing Ellie like the avenger of Joel in a search for perseverance in his girlfriend. Instead of a very gorgeous game we have some really good game, enjoyable, and very good looking. Appreciating all the work this game has, we can conclude that it could have been much better than it is, if it had not wanted to be a breakthrough without force, pretending to be better than its predecessor, highly recommended but it could have been much better. Like .05 percent of the population. No were not bots you idiots. You were told we didn't want this game yet you forced it on us.You should have delayed the release date and fixed it. Then apparently Abby is a trans but shes not but she is? Wtf are you doing with this game. You're lying trailer trying to fool people, your b.s censorship and your outright lies have come to collect. Not only is this game boring because your never playing it, cut scenes of crap you don't care about because who cares about Neil sleeping with Abby and fake gay ellie. Joel dies from the woman he saves and trust these random people? Did you all even play the first game? Joel doesn't trust people!! This game is full of an agenda and nothing more. The story is ellie goes and hunts down the people that killed joel, she doesn't kill them after killing a bunch of people to reach the people who killed joel. Umm what is point of even playing then? Graphics are good? it's the same damn engine!!! The game is cut scenes. The weapons are the same, the moments are the same. Oh boy i can lay down now!! Screw this game!! Screw naughty dog!! This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As someone who considers the first game very important and holds it dear to their heart, I had high expectations for this game and if I were to say that the game lived up to them I'd be lying. The Last Of Us 2 has consistent issues with a wishy-washy plot and beating over your head that violence is bad while forcing you to enact the violence. It makes little sense considering the ending of the game but I feel like truthfully the game is good. It has so much potential and improves heavily on the gameplay from the first. Arguably the most stunning game on the PS4, The Last of Us 2 could have had it all. The visuals, the sound design, the performances, everything about it is good with the exception of the wishy-washy plot (and the plot holes that follow) and before anyone goes off to assume I am getting shelled out cash to write nice things about the game let me get it out there that not only has that been debunked like a million times but I'm a broke college student who purchased the game with my own money. Neil Druckmann does not know I exist, nor does he care no one is shoving me in the direction to write position things about the game. It took me thirty hours to play and I played on light if anyone is curious not that it's incredibly important.

I think that the plot has too many plot holes, it also falters with Ellie's inability to let go and move on with her life even when others do. She does some things that don't ruin her character but are so frustrating to play. Narratively it made sense for Joel to die, I'm sorry to say it because I love Joel but it did. It also makes some sense that his death is sudden and misplaced because we're made to feel Ellie's anger, the restlessness and the need for revenge. How are we supposed to justify her huge revenge rampage if we aren't angry too? Though, I can't say I wouldn't have liked to see a Logan style story for the two of them. The main issue for me with the story is the whole ending and Abby. She's not a terrible character but the issue with her is that she's so incredibly unlikeable because a handful of minutes into knowing her she brutally murders a character we love. She is also a reflection of Joel whether anyone likes it or not, it becomes pretty clear with Lev's storyline with hers but I did not like her until Lev and Yara were shoved into her part of the story. I also think that the game was so heavily misleading in marketing that it comes across as lying to the audience which isn't a great look.

However, that being said I found the game fast paced and so enjoyable despite the brutal violence and not wanting to play as Abby initially. A few parts of the first game really drag for me, mostly Boston and the first chunk of Pittsburg but there were very few bits of part two where I lacked interest to keep playing. And I need to give the game credit because I did not know where it was going a lot of the time, only to watch the plot unravel as you go through the days in the weird non-linear way they structure it. I wanted to play as Ellie more, only wanted to play as Ellie actually but I came to really enjoy Abby's parts of the game. Especially considering how horror driven it got and had far more infected enemies than human. The Seraphites were also pretty frightening and jarring. I jumped when Ellie got shot with an arrow the first time. There's just so much about this game that's good and the plot holes just weigh it down which sucks so bad because the potential is right there.

A lot of people though are just taking a piss on the game because Joel dies, Abby has big arms and Ellie is gay which will never cease to be clown behavior to me but that's none of my business I suppose. This is my review and I enjoyed the game, thought it lacked for valid reasons. Keeping the messy plot in mind though I still can't give it a super low rating because there was no part of the game where I thought, I'm miserable and never want to play this again or that I regretted purchasing it because I didn't. The game is sad, it's brutal and becomes a little too much at times. It is not the sequel that Ellie or Joel deserved and I hope they take note that while you don't always have to do what the audience wants, it isn't an excuse for the messy writing. So much of this game was a pleasant surprise, I liked it much more than I thought I would knowing the leaks ahead of release but there is plenty I also don't like. The game isn't simply good or bad, but it also isn't a garbage fire like everyone is making it out to be.

If you're going to review the game so badly because of an "agenda", either watch a playthrough or play it. The supposed "woke agenda" lot of people are going off about is in no way harmful or being shoved down your damn throat. This is nothing new, Left Behind came out forever ago. Please grow up and go play something else.

Also Ashley Johnson acted the **** out of this game and I hope she gets some kind of nomination or reward for it because god damn

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you are expecting a fun, happy, relaxing game, The Last of Us Part II is not for you.
Without comparing it to its predecessor, Part II handles itself very nicely. The graphics, environment and music in this game are, without a doubt, some of the best in the history of games. However, the game struggles in following a single plot, and it could arguably divide itself into two games: one with Ellie's story and one with Abby's story.
Ellie's story is, with the exception of the way Joel is executed and her relationship development with Dina, what we were expecting from Naughty Dog. A violent, crude, brutal story of vengeance. The relationship with Dina is not appealing enough. This is caused by the inclusion of Abby's story into the game. The developers didn't focus enough in a single character, causing a lack of character development that ends up bringing the game's story down with it.
Abby's story, on the other hand, is going to receive endless backlash. For us (players) to be able to play as a character as Abby, who tortures and cold-blooded murders Joel, Naughty Dog had to give us more reasons, backstory or empathy. That for only 15-20 minutes of gameplay as her. They didn't accomplish this. This also got us to miss a great part of Ellie's story.
They accomplished something valuable. We get to completely hate Abby, and make us want to get justice for our beloved Joel. However, the ending goes against everything we worked for. Ellie breaks the revenge cycle by sparing Abby, but loses everything for doing so. Before this, Tommy separates from Maria and loses mobility on one of his legs. Meaning all of the characters from the first game get a depressing ending to their stories. Not only that, but it feels incomplete and empty.
The only one who gets a "happy" ending is the character we grew to hate: Abby.
It answers some of our questions from the first game, but with the worst possible outcomes. Ellie knew Joel was lying to her, and she doesn't quite forgive Joel for it. They get close to fixing their problems and become an ideal father-daughter relationship, but never accomplish this because of that big lie.
Objectively speaking, Abby's actions are as justifiable as Joel's, but we get our hearts broken by them. From a player's perspective, they ruin everything we built in the first game in the most gruesome way possible.
Comparing this game to the original:
    Gameplay: 2>1
    Soundtrack: Questionable, but 1>2
    Graphics: 2>1
    Environment: 2>1
    Character development: 1>2
Story: 1>2, because of the plot holes.
    Suspense: 2>1
We all knew Naughty Dog wasn't good with endings, but this was utterly ridiculous.

One of the problem was Ellie and Dina's baby which sounds like fanfick. Gameplay and how the world building amazing and technival sub-area was amazing. If the end had invested city it could be better because it would have see and look more like The Last of Us. Now it feels detached in terms of the whole. I'm fine with the ending but I'm not fine how long game was and how the videogame mission's where build. It felt bad for Abby and i didn't like it. Best part of the game was Jackson things and Dina. Rest of it was bad. Expand

The place where the game shines is in the gameplay and graphics department, with some beautifully realised post apocalyptic cityscapes that have been reclaimed by nature plus many encounters can be passed depending on your playstyle, go in guns blazing or sneak around quietly.
But I did notice the occasional pop-in, with one time being deadly when wires to a bomb trap did't show until the last second, but upon replaying the section were highly visible.
So for me it was a fun pretty romp just let down by poor story pacing and a few small graphical bugs.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of all, if you want to make a game that "is about revenge", WHY THE HELL IS THERE NO REVENGE ?! Ellie should have killed Abby.

To continue, the entire part of Abby is boring and I swear by everything that when I controlled Ellie (if only for a short time since she was in the end) I cried that I could stop controlling Abby. It seems good to me that they wanted to put her as a playable persona to empathize with her (I don't know if I'm the only one who has never done it), but we are half or even more of the game controlling her.

And the last thing I wanted to emphasize for the bad part, Joel in the first game was someone smart, cautious ... But in this game it is like: "Oh ok, I'm going to go to this place that I don't meet with people who I don't know who They are and when I arrive I will not stop stressing that I am Joel, JOEL JOEL JOEL" It seems good to me that they want to kill the character, but more importantly. I know that their intention was to make the game more crude and such, but the only thing they achieve is that you stay with an idiot face looking at the screen. The problem is that we have been sold the game for what it is not.

For the playable part nothing to comment except that it is very good, for a 9/10. The problem with this game is its suspenseful story, and in The Last of us the MOST IMPORTANT thing is the story.

I have not put something lower than five because I think it is good that there is diversity (not like other people) and because except for resounding history, it is a good game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. When it comes to The Last of Us 2, there is so much I like. The music of course is just as good as the first, the gameplay has improved significantly with some of the best enemy AI I've seen, perfectly crafted for the hide-and-seek arena-style combat the game sets you up in. The graphics are genuinely perfect for me and I can think of a single game that looks nearly as good as this game. The story starts off great and really gets you into the mindset of revenge and then, by the end, it just fell short in a lot of ways. The character swap from Ellie to Abby might've been good for a sequel or side story but you spend almost half the entire game playing as Abby, focusing on a completely different story that doesn't correlate with the first half of the game in the slightest. It is like we were watching a movie and halfway through someone got up, turned it off, and put on another film. It is jarring and I never really got over the switch, always thinking in the back of my head 'when am I getting back to Ellie'. It was really frustrating. Along with that, it hurt the gameplay because it cutout almost an entire enemy faction from the game for the rest of it. The differences between the Seraphites and the WLFs were the WLFs had better weapons and were more coordinated and loud, whereas the Seraphites were slow and methodical, hiding in the shadows from you to strike when you weren't looking. Now you just fought the cult. Additionally, it didn't even take advantage much being with a group as you really were cutoff from the rest of the WLF for a majority of it. I think this was a huge mistake and the biggest annoyance for me. Additionally, I think the ending not being a choice really was a true and honest mistake, and I almost feel like they didn't let you choose because they wanted to sequel bait. When it comes to the level design it is fantastic, but dear god in comparison to the first game a lot didn't make sense. In the first game, you spent so much time traveling places, and it showed how difficult it would be to travel. In this game everyone can magically teleport halfway across the country with ease and never have any issues on the way, and it ends up making you hate the Seattle location because you keep on seeing the same stuff over and over and over. Which is a shame, because there are so many interesting areas and they are surprisingly large to let you explore, but like, you go to the aquarium in this game six or seven times. It is simply too much. I would've wanted more of Jackson, or maybe a city/town on the way, or just some other location like how the first game had. The best aspect of the game though was the combat. I don't understand people who say it was exactly the same. It is the same base because, well, this is a sequel. It is like getting mad at Mario for still mainly being about jumping. But the differences were the changes to your toolset. Enemies are much smarter which lets you be smarter in baiting them out and planning your attacks, while also finding their patterns. The game letting you get back into stealth means that you can constantly jump out, attack, and plan your escape to hide and jump out again. If this game had the first game's story and location variety, I wouldn't need another game ever again because of how fun and creative you could be with the game's combat. But, sadly, that isn't the case, and I hope if they return to The Last of Us they take the best aspects from this game and the last one to create a truly wonderful experience. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I know many people will say you're an idiot, You're not a real gamer whatever, but I think that people just hate the game because of the Death of Joel and The Final Part and just because of that they said it is a waste of money. So let's recap what happens in the game:
Abby wants to kill Joel because he killed her dad when Joel saved Ellie in the final part of the past game, so Ellie goes after her for revenge, but in the end, Ellie forgives her and let her go.
    The Main Problem: Joel's Death
I'm really sure that many people didn't even play the game, they just saw the death of Joel and threw the disk like a frisbee. a lot of people say: "why the hell does Joel would go inside the cabin and said his name, a very strong detail that many of you didn't notice was that Joel Changed, he is not the same person he was after Sarah's death, and you can really notice this at the beginning of the game, Joel says to Ellie a joke and sings to her, the mercenary Joel would never say a joke and less sing.
Ellie really changed Joel. and maybe it was just me or maybe there were a few people that thought that Joel Would die in this game, I thought that and i agree with you he deserved a better death but what characters in The Last of Us had a glorious death, none.
Another valuable point than again many people didn't even care was the fact that the relationship between Ellie and Joel changed after Joel said to Ellie the truth about he did their relationship broke and you may say Ellie it is so ungrateful. but when Ellie saw how the guys that left Jackson ended she maybe thought that if the fireflies made the cure this wouldn't happen, that she could change that, and when Joel said to her the truth she broke.
    and now the Finale.
Like the director said this game was about to empathize that's why you control Abby in the game. If you think this through, Joel would do the same if Ellie or Tommy were the ones that are dead in the game. Joel would Hunt that person and kill him just like Abby did to Joel Hunt Him and Kill him, and when I was playing the final Part I didn't want to kill Abby.
So to Resume because I still don't know how to explain this in the way I want. The Last of Us Part II
It is a good game, of course, it has their mistakes and script holes but you have to consider ALL THE GAME TO MAKE A FINAL DECISION not just play until the part where they kill Joel and cut the disk

Overall, I think the user Metacritic score is too harsh and the professional critic scores are too high.

At this point, the story would have to go off the rails or level design fall apart in the later part of the game for being rushed for me to have a different view.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game has a bad history of hate before it was released. So let's talk about what the haters don't like.

Plot: There are no holes or forced paths. This game talks about psychological trauma and how if not resolved can destroy someone. We watch the evolution of the same trauma, the murder of a father, in both Abby and Ellie, and see how they resolve the demons that torment them. The theme of this game is not only the futility of revenge but a commentary on how psychological trauma can reshape us if not treated. The last 2 hours of the plot are pure Shakespearean drama in videogame form, the only way someone can disparage the plot of this game is because they never opened a book in their life (or read too many mangas...)

Sex: Sex in this videogame does 2 things, first it's not a pure show of flesh (that's why Sony didn't censor it unlike in other games), second it serves the purpose with Ellie to create a progression in her relationship with Dina, in Abby instead ND wants to depict something that happens in real life when you don't resolve your feelings for an ex. I can understand that all the incels out there have no idea of what I'm talking but please start reading something other than mangas, it' not that hard.

Gameplay: Similar to the first game, I expected more improvement but in the end, we cannot have ND employees slaved for our entertainment (more than they are already). The game is playable and fun with some well-placed jump scares.

Politics: What politics? the only themes that you may think are political are: Ellie and Dina's relationship, really? In 2020 you think living free your sexuality it's political, please **** go kiss your waifu. Abby is practically mister muscle, this one even I don't' know where the **** it's political, she's a soldier... being in shape is a sin for the right?
Lev is trans, oh my, if even the SCOTUS with a majority of conservatives ruled that you can't be fired if you're LGBT+ can we all agree that in 2020 finally, we are all nearly equal under the law? And that trans people deserve to live their life how the **** they want and not by your expectations? After the tirade... First GOOD representation of a trans character in a videogame...
The cult, ok children let me tell you what happens with religious fanatism, something like all the **** since 2001? And please, don't try to sell my the lie that one religion is better than the other, fanatics are all the same.

So, why people hate this game? Because it's not a game for children or pubescent teenagers, it's a game for people that have lived a little outside mommy house and have experienced life hardships and that can recognize them. It's not a game for everyone, yes, but in the end, it is a masterpiece, like the first game it can talk to your soul if you don't have the emotional range of an amoeba.
Oh and it's a game for people with a brain... (ND there is were you went wrong...)

So let see if ND learned to not overwork people for the next game.

Oh yes, since I already smell the stench of unwashed, never left home, waifu lover-boy, trying to paint me as a lefty, I'm not, I'm a very proud capitalist who loves that welfare exists to bring equality to all (I'm a centrist, **** I forgot your mental abilities). Think a little about that, or not please, your minds scare me.

Jumping in a more realistic way to navigate and explore environments feels amazing. Yes, more games have jumping but it just feels natural in the last of us part 2 and more believable then the jumping in drakes uncharted. We can prone and be more stealthy through grass which gives the game a way better vibe for us stealth players because we all know that you should stealth kill as many people as possible before you spray your bullets away. The A.I is much better than in the first game and everything gets a lot more realistic and believable once you ramp up that difficulty. MY favorite part is you do not need to head shot every enemy even though that is much more effective because of the one-hit kill. You can shoot them in the stomach and the NPC’s react as if that hurts and stuns them giving you time to run up and kick their ass face to face with Ellies knife. The open areas are bigger than in the uncharted los legacy. You can easily find the hidden areas by reading letters you find. Posters on the wall. Even just finding them yourself. You can find a key with the name of the store on it and go to that store to get nice little details getting you to know the characters and how Ellie has developed as a person over the years and her relationships with the people around her. (I can explain more but spoilers would happen.) The little details shine here also because if you look at Ellie's face as she is impaling a human’s neck with her knife she looks as if she is cringing at what she is doing. She does not seem to enjoy it because she is used to killing for survival not for revenge. She is not this angry person killing indiscriminately, she is going after this one group and this group was known terrorists. The military, when they were in power claimed them to be terrorists just like the fireflies that were in Boston. We learned from the first game that these groups are fighting for the right reasons but are going about it the wrong way, killing innocent people along the way thinking it justifies their actions because they got back at the people that are trying to control them, keeping peace. Obviously the military are not the good guys either because they have had to sacrifice people by removing them from the colony in Seattle for petty little crimes like “stealing bread” (random example) because they were running low on supplies and were finding any excuse to boot them out. Which in turned fueled the WLF and aided them in taking over Seattle’s QZ. I could go on for days about the story but again I am not spoiling anything. Character development, story, execution, and pacing are done well here. Clearly naughty dog has learned from there other games and it clearly shows. Also for replay value you can ignore the exploration zones and complete an objective and just progress the story which is nice if you want to complete the harder difficulties with more of a challenge because you have less supplies and certain upgrades that make life easier. In combat we ask if something is not broken why fix it, just expand on the mechanics and that is what they do in this game. The gun upgrades and skill upgrades are more impactful and make your character even more bad ass even though it can just be from less weapon sway or even a six times scope on your rifle. The shotgun is brutal and shreds your enemies with ease. Melee weapons feel like they hurt and have you cringing when you hear that pipe connect to a WLF’s head. Honestly, the game has you feel bad for some of these people when you see their human side and has you hate them again when you see how brutal and hateful, they can be. (I use human side because that is spoiler free way of saying they are only normal people surviving). You are constantly at a struggle to see who the real bad guys are in this game and that theme is a huge roll in the story. Which is true in real life because to me there is no good or bad just perspective and they nail it here. I could say more but you must play this game and you will enjoy it. If I say more then it will spoil key moments and game play features that you will love and enjoy more as you find them out for yourself. Its way better than the first like it should be and plays how you want it to if you are a fan of the last of us. Better mechanics, smoother shooting, smoother movement, better execution. Buy it and you will not regret it. I gave it a 8 because the game play is amazing and I love every aspect of the game but no risks were taken trying to change up the formula. Instead they made the formula better by improving upon it but that isn't a bad thing either. Expand

Gameplay improved massively from #1, beautiful game, loved the story. Drags a bit in the middle but picks up pace again towards the end.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In general, TLOU Part 2 is a good game. I don't know if it is a worthy sequel to The Last of Us 1, but it is good.

The Story was not as bad as most reviews are telling you.

Yes, Joel dies. Okay, he dies in a shameful way, can't deny this. But the story builds on that fact, that Joel was killed with a golf club.

The more you play, the more the game is an emotional roller coaster. Sometimes I really hated TLOU2, sometimes I absolutely loved it. In the end, the Game is worth the AAA-Price of 60$.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. That was one emotional rollercoaster. I knew this game was going to be rough but that really hit me hard in the feels.
I really enjoyed it and before the end I thought I'd immediately replay it, but I think I need to give it some time before I put myself through that again.
As a fan of the first game I had very high hopes for Part 2 and it did not disappoint.

I really enjoyed the first half of the game.
I think the gameplay has been improved upon drastically. The first game always felt a bit clunky, and while Part 2 isn't perfect, it was so much smoother.
It was heartbreaking to see this darker and far more serious Ellie (it makes sense, but gone is the little pun-loving girl from Part 1) and every time I'd sneakily kill someone and she'd slit their throat my heart ached a little bit looking at the pain and hatred on her face. That's another thing that was superbly done: the facial animations! Bravo Naughty Dog!
I thought the introduction of Dina was a great move! I found her very likeable and I'm glad she was with Ellie. Their conversations when you're travelling together are wonderful.

Now, I enjoyed the second half of the game also, when you play as Abby, BUT I just couldn't care for Abby. I wanted to! I really wanted to like her, but just as I'd start to warm to her she'd do or say something that took me back to disliking her again. I totally get her reasons for killing Joel (Joel wasn't perfect either and killed so many people, same with Ellie) but I just couldn't get on board with her. When playing as Ellie I would hate seeing her die (and man, I died A LOT in this game) but when playing as Abby when she died I just didn't care. I did enjoy the second half of the game though but I did catch myself at one point wishing for Abby's story to be over so I could get back to playing as Ellie, and let me tell you that never happened in the first game or when playing as Ellie in Part 2. I also found Abby's quest dragged for a bit too long. I know we had to stay with her for that amount of time in order to sympathise with her and appreciate she has some redeeming qualities, but I just couldn't get on side. She annoyed me to be quite honest. I will say I don't think Abby was a bad person all in all, she let Ellie and Tommy go TWICE, she saved Yara and Lev and turned on her own people to protect them, so she wasn't an outright dick... but I didn't like her. I wanted to but I just didn't.

I think the decision to switch to Abby halfway was a very ballsy and interesting move. It definitely made me think about the violence that everyone in this world inflicts on each other. There are no "good guys" or "bad guys", just people trying to survive. When you have to fight Ellie as Abby it made me realise that to some people (Abby etc) Ellie isn't a good guy in the same way as Abby isn't a good guy to some (Ellie etc).
I think too many fans are expecting a black and white story, where you have the "goodies" and the "baddies" but that isn't the world of The Last of Us. Naughty Dog have created a complex world with complex characters and it pays off.

I consider myself decent at video games and played this on Moderate and died A LOT! So either I'm not as good as I thought or ND have improved the AI so much that even Moderate is difficult.
I loved fighting enemies in this game! They're so much smarter than the first - I'm mainly talking about the human enemies. The way they communicate with each other and will flank you I thought was excellently done. I also found when being shot it really knocked me back so much that I'd have to scramble to try and get back up before they'd pump another bullet in me. I like that you can't just charge enemies if they're firing at you because you will, most likely, die. It made me really think about how I would take them on. The way enemies will actively look for you, looking under and over objects, was very well done. I couldn't stay still for long and it constantly kept me on my toes.
I also liked that there are waves of enemies. In TLOU once you cleared enemies, that was it. But as TLOU2's map is so much bigger it allows for a constant flow of enemies which was great!
Hitting someone with a weapon was very satisfying and felt "real" (not that I find hitting people in real life satisfying... but you get the jist).

I've read some of the user reviews on Metacritic giving this game a 0/10 yet will praise the gameplay and graphics. How can you score something 0 when there are parts of it you rate? It doesn't make sense. I think too many people are hurt that Joel was killed and then they scored the game low without even finishing the story or trying to understand the message this game is giving us.
Overall, I'd give The Last of Us Part II a 7.5 (verging on 8) out of 10. Not perfect by any means, but one I shall be replaying for years to come.

Visually stunning and the music is great.
Unfortunately, the Storytelling and was bad.
The slow pacing makes this game boring.
Maybe if the timeline was linear it would have been more entertaining.
My biggest issues with the game are the traversal and in-game sound design.
However, the AI is the best AI in any third person shooter game.

The last of us Part2 is a Narrative driven, stealth-action game that introduces and delivers on heavy thematic messages. Such as when is ok to antiquate vengeance with justice, how far do we fall till we become our enemies or something worst, and what truly separates the "them from the "us".

When it comes to sound design and score, a already unsettling game because down right unnerving.

When it comes to sound design and score, a already unsettling game because down right unnerving. And truly aims to emerse the player, into feelings of love, innocence, hate, sorrow, terror, and despair when required. As far as as visuals go The Last of Us Part 2 is beautiful, I played the game on a PS4 pro.
Graphics and Frame rates were steady, smooth, and crisp, environments sought to emulate that of the real world and when violence is introduced the game becomes hyper real to an extent in the way way blood splatters and the visceral natures of the kills became hyper real. Although I did experience a glitch that distorted the face of a character halfway in the game, but I just had to restart my PS4 and haven't experienced any more probelms since.

Gameplay can be challenging but nothing that is to difficult to over come, one thing the game has going for it, is that unlike in most games of this genre the A.I here (both enemy and allies) make smart decisions. Though sometime it does feel like enemies can spot the player even when not possible depending on the difficulty. Gun play and overall action is emersive and has kick and weight to it when you either shooting or stabbing.

As for the story, it is not perfect and not everyone will enjoy it. I myself was not a fan until 5-6 Horus in I was able to realize the narrative and themes to be set forth (as mentioned above) It truly requires the player to use perspective in the matter, and to view the characters not as characters but as people, that are not to be simply classified as good or evil. Their choices will never be stagnant require thought to see into.

Overall I spent 32 hours playing The last of us Part2, it was not a perfect experience nor truly great but very enjoyable non the less if the player is truly willing to put the work in, and not see the story from one particular view point but to use perspective. For me the game is on verge of a soft 8 and a hard 7, but ultimately lands on a 8, truly a game that blurs the line between a movie experience and a gaming experience.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
