Is this game a masterpiece? No.
Is this game as bad as the user scores? Hell no.
Going into part 2 being pretty well exposed to all the leaks except for the cutscenes, I wanted to be able to form my own opinion. This game is definitely a tough pill to swallow, but I am glad I stuck with it for its entirety as this is without a doubt one of the most confronting & relentless video games

This game is definitely a tough pill to swallow, but I am glad I stuck with it for its entirety as this is without a doubt one of the most confronting & relentless video games I have ever experienced. Perhaps a little too heavy with the social commentary at times as well as some moments that will have questioning if it was included only to shock (not to mention I personally thought it could have had a little bit more optimistic moments like part 1 instead of being all “doom and gloom” for the majority), it is a technical achievement to behold with a story that will have you go through a whole spectrum of emotions. By the end of it i was satisfied with my 31 hours I spent playing and it’s going to be an experience I won’t be forgetting any time soon.

In the worst parts of Last of Us 2, it is a 6/10. In its best parts, few as they are, it is a full 10.

So what drops the impression of this game? The new characters are weak and unmemorable, compared to the first game. The cast is too big to handle and too big to get invested in. Some of them feel like they're right out from "Until Dawn".

The second big con is the pacing. For large stretches of the game you are in a "Princess is in another castle" situation, with nothing worthwhile to reward your trek to your destination. You return to home base, then go out on another two-hour long exploration stretch to find - nothing. Back to base. Much of the main quest feels like a side quest.

Very small con: Why is there no Uncharted-style blindfire? That would be absolutely perfect for this game. At times, I found myself trying to blindfire, just to realize that this feature is not in the game. Patch some blindfire in there, ND.

Overall, a great game that will eventually recover its reputation. A must-play if you have a Ps4.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

The game has incredible presentation as is par for Naughty Dog. Playing on PS4 pro, the game has phenomenal graphics, some of the best animations I've ever seen, absolutely glorious surfacing for things like water and asphalt, the voice acting is as great as ever. The gameplay as well stands out to me. I continually ran into issues with poor balancing (easy difficulties are way too easy, hard difficulties are way to hard) I think this is an issue of the gaming industry as a whole and it didn't prevent me from enjoying to gameplay save for a few very difficult encounters. The gameplay is pretty similar though largely improved from the first game. I played on the second hardest difficulty, Survivor, and my playthrough where I explored every optional path I could find took 40 hours. The average playtime is closer to 24-30 hours. Even with this 40 hour runtime I was never bored of the combat and the options it allowed me. The combat encounters, especially against the infected enemies, are almost puzzle like in ways. It rewards knowledge of enemy AI, proficiency with the game's weapons, and familiarity with the arenas where you fight these enemies, in a very satisfying way.

And now.. to the story. Spoilers here of course.
    ----------

The first half of the game you play as Ellie from the first game, Ellie has some great gameplay sections, one oddly inserted and forgettable car chase, but an amazing open world section with lots to explore and goodies to find. Her story is fine if not a bit cliched.

The second half of the game you play as Abby, who Ellie has been trying to kill the entire game. They force you into this character to be polarizing and shocking. You unfortunately have to actively force yourself to side with Abby, this isn't a fault of Abby's story, but rather Ellie's motivations, which linger after playing as her for 15 hours. If you can manage to distance yourself from Ellie, Abby is very entertaining and fun to play as. Her gameplay sequences clearly were a little less polished but were still greatly enjoyable. I think Ellie's story alone is pretty good. Abby's story alone is really great. When the game tries to merge the two together, it fails entirely.

I believe the negative reviews are largely driven by two things.
1 The lgbt characters. This was never really made much of a thing to be honest. They just happened to be lgbt. If the exact same story was made with a heterosexual cast there would be much fewer negative reviews.
2 expectations were too high. A lot of people hold up the last of us as 1 of the greatest games of all time. Sequels never satisfy in these instances. If the game was not a sequel, a lot of these 0 scores would probably be 5-7.

To summarise, the game is a great game definitely better than 90 percent of other games on the market. It is lacking in innovation as the gameplay hasn't moved on much since the 1st game, hence it doesn't quite deserve a 10 but any score lower than a 5 is a spite rating

It's visuals are gorgeous, the gameplay is super tight and Naughty dog has made some very nice improvements to the formula. The animation work is masterclass.

The story is also very powerful, please try to go into it with an open mind. Naughty Dog is not trying to push an agenda, there is nothing wrong with having a main character be gay. If we do not allow games to explore real world topics and issues, then how can we expect the medium to ever be seen as something more than a childish past-time?

No, the story is not bad. No, the characters are not poorly written. Most people who've reviewed this game did not even play it, for god's sakes.

Gameplay is good because it is tremendously similar to the first game, in this aspect, the innovation has been quite poor, there are some new mechanics like that of crawling on the ground, but the confrontations are still quite repetitive. There are very few new enemies except the new acid zombies that are basically the same as in the first game but with another name and the enemies with dogs. Crafting materials are the same and, again, the items you make are the same as in part one (except for a small innovation such as the silencers for the 9mm), you even keep taking the same bricks and bottles to make noise.
Let's go with the plot, one of the most important parts of the naughty dogs games. in my opinion this revenge story is pretty lazy. They wanted history to face a lot of problems in today's society such as homosexuality or sexism, but it does it very badly and messing it up with a shoehorn. Not because the 2 protagonists of the game are women, one of them a lesbian and the other a supergirl, but because they do not naturalize it, they make stupid references to it, all very forced. ignoring these sections, the story does not improve, in the end, it gives you the feeling that everything you've been through has been for nothing. I do not intend to make spoilers but it is not necessary, everything is very predictable. personally I would have opted for a new adventure of joel, tommy and ellie and I would not have incorporated these bad guys who in the end are not so bad.
There are specific situations that I still don't understand, such as why Abby decides to betray her faction, which she owes a lot for helping two people she doesn't know about. again, the game tries to show you that abby isn't really that bad, but really? helping 2 strangers to the point of risking your life? Is this how you decide to show it to me?
without a doubt the worst part of the game is the final, it doesn't even seem like it was planned. It seems that they introduced it to extend the game. seriously, the game could have ended in the theater with an epic final fight.
Regarding the technical section, without a doubt, the best of the game, it is impressive, it really is incredible that it looks like this on a ps4. Probably the best game graphically speaking of the console generation.

Just finished the game and thought I'd share my opinion, the score is just my thoughts on how much I enjoyed the game, CHARACTERS were okay however some choices were really bad, playin as Abby was really bad in my opinion. The STORY was fine but the ending made me feel bad to Ellie and the reason she left Abby live was really weird. VIsuals and Gameplay were amazing, the new improvements in the combat and stealth were top-notch. The reason for the score is cuz stories in videogames for me is really not that important as gameplay and graphics, so there you have it.

Now the backlash from the fans were expected but people should try to be less biased when playin their games so their opinions stay honest, balance is good, give it a 0 or a 10 as long as you stay unbiased then it's fine, thanks for your time.

Gameplay innovations and improvements, and also new things in general were practically non-existent; which kind of justifies the "part ii" of the title, since it was not a sequel, just a continuation of the first game.

The gameplay was refined but I'm still not the biggest fan somehow. The cycle of human enemies, exploration, zombie enemies, action sequence and emotional flashback are varied but felt formulaic overall, maybe because of the linear nature of the game.

The story was good for a videogame story, lots of progression, but I did not like all the timejumps. Also some things were not that believable to me and it is in conflict with the gameplay. And in the end it felt kind of pointless, even though many differnt things happened.

But overall it is a very refined game with lots of varied settings.

I loved the first game and its characters as much as everyone and knew it was a game that was going to stick with me for a long time, if not for life. But I get why Naughty Dog went the direction they did with this game. In my opinion, the story of TLOU2 perfectly captures the tragedy and brutality of the post-apocalypse world they created. That there are repercussions for the decisions made in the first game and this game. Not many games (besides Telltale games) do that, show the perspectives of those who are hurt by the main character’s actions. Many people will disagree, but I kind of respect Naughty Dog for making these major story decisions and they probably knew it piss off the fanbase of this franchise. I’m not saying that the story is perfect, there is definitely that “political correctedness” that other people despise, I don’t mind some of it but there is a little bit too much here and it threw me off in terms of “jeez, okay we are in pretentious territory here”. Also, some characters make really weird decisions that can be out of character and don’t make sense disregarding the build-up of some tragic events. I can say that this game can get depressing and there is so many emotional moments with joyful moments so far few in between. Which might turn some people off. Despite these downfalls, this story was great enough to keep me going and keep me immersed. Again, like the first, it is a story that will stick with me. I think people should give this game’s story a chance.

I had bit of a long section for the story part of the game because it is narrative-driven, but I should also speak about the gameplay and graphics. Combat and stealth sections are tension-filled and can be really challenging, which I appreciate. Naughty Dog improved in terms of adding realism to the combat sequences as you can get knocked down or flinch when you get shot, completely throwing your aim off. I played on the regular difficulty and I got my ass kicked a lot. Enemy human AI is pretty smart and will try to flank you, especially dudes with melee weapons. Moreover, the infected sections are still creepy and tense as always with some new enemy types to keep it challenging. I plan to play on the hardest difficulty to make resources scarcer, as I felt on the regular difficulty resources was never really that scarce despite what gameplay videos have said. They even added a feature where you make your own custom difficulty which is pretty cool.

Lastly, the graphics are amazing, as expected of recent Naughty Dog titles, so good that your PS4 will sound like a motorcycle (IDK if that’s a good thing). The facial animations are on point in combat and in cutscenes, in particular the combat, the facial animations add so much realism if you can pay attention and adding to the brutality of it. The post-apocalyptic scenery can be really beautiful in most parts of the game.

Thank you to those who read this whole review, I know it’s long, but I really wanted to get all of my honest opinion out on this game. I do understand all the negative reviews and why people can’t stomach the story. But if you’re looking to buy the game but are a bit sceptical, I’d say give it a shot. I really think its important to understand the context of the story decisions Naughty Dog has made in TLOU2.

Now story is a little hard to explain without any spoilers.
The game is split into two segments, one were you play as Ellie and the other where you play as a girl called Abby,. Why? That's a pretty heavy spoiler but this game takes the approach of "You're the villain in someones story." That's all I can say The story is weaker than LOU1 but a good story none the less. Story 7/10

The graphics were great and i would give them a 9/10. The story was maybe a 7/10 experience for me, the start and the middle of the game were fine, but the ending i didn’t really like. (now there will be spoilers) The ending would have been way better if the game just ended on Dina and Ellie living happy lives but the part of the story where Ellie went to hunt Abby down was in my opinion very unnecessary. The fact that Ellie didn’t even kill Abby made it even more pointless, and in my opinion that part of the story could have been completely left out. The ending was unnecessarily bad when we could have had, like i said before a happy ending with Ellie and Dina living happy lives. Expand

¿Propaganda? De ningún modo.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part 2 is an near perfect game that captures what life would be like in a post apocalyptic Seattle. The Gameplay feels grounded and realistic and is much improved from 2013s TLOU. The story is also, despite the leaks, very immersive and makes you feel for both playable characters, Abby and Ellie.

Close to the start of the game, Abby and her group, the WLF (often referred to as the "wolves") move near to a settlement called Jackson in the hope of finding joel, the former main protagonist and kill him for essentially murdering her father. She does this right in front of Ellie which inturn sends Ellie on a path for revenge. You go through most of the game tracking down Abby as Ellie throughout seattle and then eventually the story gets to a point where you switch to abby's point of view and her backstory. The story here could've gone 1 or 2 ways. It could have made Abby seem to be a deranged psychopath who killed joel for no reason or it could have given her a backstory and a motive for why she did what she did and thankfully it went with the 2nd option. Abby before now was extremely unlikeable having brutally murdered a fan favourite character but now that she has a motive the player begins to sympathize and understand. Abby and Ellie eventually cross paths yet again and have a massive fight at the end.

Gameplay wise the game feels smooth and fun to play. Runners are as easy as ever to kill, stalkers are the creepiest out of the bunch as they just lurk in the shadows and wait to pounce, flickers are relatively easy to kill - all that is needed is one gun shot to destroy its armored head and another to kill it or if you want to take the stealthy approach Ellie always Carrie's a pocket knife so you can kill a clicker with one attempt each time however for abby you will, much like the first game have to craft a shiv as she doesn't carry anything with her. Bloaters are the hardest out of the bunch to kill however fire is the best option- one molotov and then keep dodging while shooting a few bullets should do the trick. Shamblers are the newest form of infected that are covered in spores and emit a corrosive gas that is often deadly. They're easy enough to kill However as 2 or 3 rifle bullets to the head should be enough. Watch out though as they emit one final gas cloud as they die.

So in conclusion I've given this game an 8/10 as both the Gameplay and story are very well worked however joel dying in the manor that he did is s bit suspect but regardless of the way he was killed, abby did have a motive so he wasn't killed for nothing.

This has only happened to me twice, with RDR2 and now this. It should go away in a week or so, but the point is, you must let this game settle for a bit before reviewing it. And I can’t stress this enough, you need to play this game, or at least watch all 10 hours of cutscenes before you even have the right to judge it.

    Gameplay:
Utterly revolutionary and ground breaking. A true game changer for future games to uphold or let alone compete with. A new bar has been set, this is just one of the next steps towards a new generation of games.

The Last of Us Part 2 is a game about consequences, trauma, revenge, redemption, emotions and love. And all of this is very well portrayed by the almost impeccable direction. Which makes sense as more than two thousand people worked on the last of us 2, but for that many people working on a game, personally it ended up becoming disappointing.

Gameplay against humans is more difficult mainly thanks to dogs, but to balance you have silenced weapons. And against zombies easier thanks to new weapons, plenty of resources and Ellie's pocket knife. The addition of a Boss fight was interesting. The skill tree is much more complex than that of the first game, but most of the improvements are totally superfluous. The real problems are the fact that it is basically the same gameplay as 7 years ago and it ends up becoming quite repetitive and tedious towards the end of the Abby part, because you need to explore "all over again", the combat gets repetitive, your equipment and improvements are basically reset. Melee combat has improved, now it's more skill and less luck (except against dogs).

The level design remains great. Ellie's diary is a really bad addition, I never thought a diary would add so much depth to a character. The game is very linear 99% of the time but still has a lot of focus on exploration, there are those who like it and some who don't, personally I liked it.

The narrative again is very simple, but the feelings generated, the consequences of these simple actions on people and their emotions are very complex. And unfortunately the story focuses a lot on the development and personal drama of certain characters and there is very little development in the relationships between them (which was the focus of the first game), it hurt the game too much. This script is much better than that of the first game, much more directions and unpredictable events (in the first game there were exactly 2 that surprised me). But even with more events, these events end up being small and do not change the course of history much. The story of the first game is more 'solid' than that of this one, the general coverage was greater, it is easier for people to like it. For example: in the story of this one if you don't like Abby, half the game becomes horrible (for me it even worked). So it ends up being very personal if you think this game is better than the first, mainly because its strengths are different.

The problem with the way they "folded" the story was that the predictability of it would compromise on the other half, since the story was bound to happen in a certain way. In addition to the huge problem generated by you being totally immersed in Ellie's story and what will happen next, only you need to "reject" the same story to continue where you left off and when you get there you are no longer filled with hatred , grudge, thirst for revenge and full of the urgency of what will happen next. What could be a problem for many was the fact that the game humanized characters only after you killed them, so their deaths had no weight. Personally I didn't think it was so bad because I don't think they needed to have a narrative weight, the goal was to kill the characters out of anger at what happened to Joel, the problem was that their humanization for me was relatively useless, it wasn't bad or tedious, just unnecessary. You can argue that it served you to see the other side of the story and regret it, and it's all right. I also thought that Abby saving and caring so much about Lev and Yara was forced and the script knew it and ****

I found it very interesting how certain characters simply die with a shot to the head and thanks, you have to keep surviving and fighting. But the problem with this is that the script seems to have completely forgotten that they existed after their deaths, there is no more mention of them. And there is the fact that the dead characters are very superficial and have a tiny focus during the story. Another problem was that the first half of the game is far superior to the second and it bothers you during the game. And for some reason the writer appeals to pregnant women too much to make you care about the characters.

Joel's scene is very good but it happened too soon, it lost much of its impact. And this scene needed to be much more impactful, one way that I saw many talking about would be to put the flashbacks before his death would solve this. Maybe it would solve more I liked how all the flashbacks were embedded in the story (with the exception of the party flashback that Ellie kisses Dina, this one was too late for no reason and could have helped in the initial immersion of the game). I think they needed to have given more focus to Joel before he died, before the sequence of his death he doesn't even appear, if they had created some current everyday scenes of Ellie and Joel it would have been a lot better, but it looked like they wanted to rush right to it.

instead you basically chase after her through Seattle then get beat you leave home you end up chasing her again and you find her hanged up just waiting to die which would've happened if Ellie never went after her again Abby would've died with lev but nope Ellie follows her tracks all the there to cut her down almost kill her and then just let her go, she left her newborn baby and girlfriend behind to go save the main person who killed Joel just a waste of time and a whole bunch of buildup making you believe you would kill her but then you just free her and let her go.

Then you return home and Dina is gone and now you cant play guitar. The trailers were really misinforming i don't mean it as in trailers should tell you the story but as in the first trailer she says she will kill every last one of them but in the game every one dies except for the one who fully tortured and killed Joel right in front of her face i just don't really get it came in with really high expectations because of how good the first game was and ended feeling confused just a whole lot of mixed feelings i really hope they learn from this and improve the next game if there even is going to be one. i give it a 4 out of 10 because of the simple fact that the graphics were amazing and the mechanics were really good and easy to learn. EDIT: I've changed my rating to 8 out of 10 for the fact that they at least tried something new it might've not worked but they tried it.

Ellie forgiving Abby doesn’t make sense because of Abby she lost her dad figured, Dina and JJ basically her life just to get revenge but then all of a sudden she just spares her? She killed every friend of Abby and hundreds of people but all off a sudden ReVeNge Bad??? Yeah that ruined the whole game from me. And the other thing that is bad is how they treated Joel he deserved way better. But the overall story is not that bad, gameplay and graphics are a 10/10 Expand

Like you, I have spent many years waiting for a sequel and replayed the original multiple times to relive the game in all its glory. To me, the original had something that was unique to Joel and Ellie. A story only they could tell and no one else can.

Sadly, with the sequel, that uniques fades quickly. In my mind, the story could have taken a completely different direction form the moment Joel saved Abby or the flashbacks that indicated Ellie's itch to learn the truth and the friction Joel and Ellie had. Instead of chasing those story lines which would actually be a continuation of that uniqueness established in part 1, we are thrown into a revenge story that came from a retconned character in a very obvious and forced way. Now don't get me wrong, revenge stories are very compelling but the story ND told with Part 2 is no longer unique to Joel and Ellie. It is a story that could have easily had some other characters entirely and it would have had the same effect.

Where the game particularly shines is in the world the tale is told in. My favourite parts of the game come from encounters in the semi-open world and the tension of encountering infected and other enemy factions. The gameplay is similar to the first one with a few refinements and additions which definitely make the experience better but nothing ground breaking.

Abby's story felt like a different game to me that completely derailed the momentum Ellie's storyline was picking up.

Overall, the game to me felt like a victim of the team's decision making bias which sent them on a journey of no return with a story we didn't want, need or deserved. At the same time, I will say this, you should play it and uncover the story for yourself. I think the game deserves your attention.

    Thanks for reading!

A disappointment when looking back at the first one, but still a good game. The pacing of the story was really bad for the first couple of hours, but once you actually get into Seattle and the game starts throwing more enemies at you the game becomes incredibly fun and hard to put down. The enemy AI can be really **** sometimes though

The first last of us was always going to be a tough act to follow, but for me the last of us 2 really misses the mark. The story is an absolute mess, it is so jumbled up and out of place it barely makes sense. The way it chose to handle certain story decisions is baffling, the “revenge is bad” plot is generic at best. It lacks some serious execution at times. A lot of the game feels like a walking heavy breathing simulator with the odd zombie encounter and some boring puzzles. for a 20+ hour game there is a real lack of substance for nearly the entire first half, and most of the characters have no depth or development whatsoever, and are often discarded or killed with no further mention or care form the other characters. It is clear from this game how much the writing department is lacking after losing Amy Hennig, who probably deserves more credit for the first game than she received. All in all this feels like a real kick in the teeth to last of us fans who have waited and been excited for this game for 7 years.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Finished the game minutes ago. I truly enjoyed it, despite many who disliked the game trying to ruin the experience for me (shame on you). The gameplay is excellent with engaging combat, stealth and downtime. The acting is superb, Troy Baker, Ashley Jonson And Laura Bailey are fantastic in their roles. The levels and environments are wonderfully designed and visually fantastic. Some story details aren’t everyone’s cup of tea and are a little sloppy/ lazy, however I think they are explained well once the game is played through and finished. Overall I’d rate the last of us part 2 a strong 8.5-9. I only wish that bratty gamers hadn’t got up in arms about the inclusion of diverse and realistic people, such as a trans character, or a muscular woman. In my opinion, the game does not pander you SJW as many suggest, but includes realistic looking characters and themes which don’t just go away because of the threat of zombies. If you want to play this game, and can look past the seemingly unacceptable inclusion of minority characters, then I would highly recommend. Those who are easily offended by people who aren’t straight white men or unrealistically rendered woman with boobs bigger than their brains then avoid it and try not to spoil it for others. Expand

The SJW stuff that's in there didn't ruin the story for me, I was okay with it, However there was one scene where 2 people were on a boat doing the nasty. I don't understand what the developer was trying to convey but I felt like that could've been removed. This game is really beautiful, and you should give it a chance. Don't let others scare you away from this game, I'm sure you'll enjoy the fights and killing the infected.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Not as great as prequel, however...

The Last of Us 2 is in many ways like the first one. Great graphics, great acting, and in my opinion, great gameplay. However, where the game falls short compared to the first game, is its story and characters. (Spoiler alert)

This review will be put in chapters, where I can focus on the pros and cons of said areas of the game.

    GRAPHICS:
    ---
The graphics, just like the last game, has changed the standard for all other games in this era. Stunning details are seen everywhere, through the character models, nature, buildings, etc. The graphics are part of why I have given the game such a high rating, as there was never a place in the game that wasn't polished.

    ACTING AND CHARACTERS:
    ---
An important part of the story is the acting from the actors who played the different characters. Although I personally didn't find some of the new characters interesting, the returning characters did an amazing job. I especially loved Joel and Tommy. Although Joel didn't see as much action in the last game, which I will also mention later on, I absolutely loved the portrayal of Joel which Troy Baker delivered. Tommy, a character which we sadly didn't see so much of in this game, was in my opinion perfectly acted out. Ellie, the protagonist of the story, saw a different route than the last game. Although I enjoyed her portrayal, I certainly miss some of the Ellie we saw in the first game.

    STORY:
    ---
My main problem with The Last of Us 2 is the story. Overall, the story lacked what the first game had, and the early death of Joel ruined what I thought could have been something better. Although I personally understand the death of Joel as the main plotline in the story, his death should have happened sooner, if not at all. There could easily have been other ways to create the revenge story which this game focuses on. The game does have some gold pieces scattered around though; The flashback to Ellie and Joel in the dinosaur museum was in my opinion the best part of the story. It almost brought a tear to my eye to see the dad-daughter relationship which we saw in the first game.

    GAMEPLAY:
    ---
The gameplay in The Last of Us 2 is much like the first game, just better. The good things have been kept, and the bad has been fixed or partly removed. There is not much to say here, I did enjoy the gameplay. I understand that this is very mixed between people, but I very much like the style of gameplay that the Last of Us 2 brings to the table.

    CONCLUDING THOUGHTS:
    ---

The Last of Us 2 is a great game. Not close to perfect, but it was great. I remember the leaks on how the game would be a huge "LGBTQ+ propaganda scheme", but I personally don't think so. I, personally, see no reason to why there should be some form of representation. If people don't like it, then that is their opinion. I honestly felt that this game didn't shove said representation down the throats of the consumer, but that is where different opinions differ.

Overall, the Last of Us 2 is a gritty, dark game, which focuses on the problematic nature of humanity. Emotions lead the game, and in the end, when Ellie lets Abby live didn't leave me completely unsatisfied. Yes, I was very confused with how Ellie, whose entire mission had been to get revenge and kill Abby, in the end lets her live, but after a deep thought, I felt a sense of satisfaction. The ending goes to show that Ellie, despite her unhuman actions throughout the game, is still a good person at heart, and the girl all players came to love in the first game. That is why I give this game 8/10, and why I do not regret my time with the game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Graphics, physics, animations: 10/10 best in the business. So many objects are movable and breakable. Bloaters crash through walls. Character animations are above anything in video games to date and interact with the environment. Great rope physics.

Gameplay, level design, sequences: 9/10 poorly paced gameplay segments. Amazing accessibility options. great scavenge, upgrade, combat gameplay loop. Hidden areas to explore to upgrade faster. Open world hubs towards beginning of game. Some simple neat puzzles. Some of the best 3rd person shooter combat of all time. Amazing AI. Last of us combat features no hip fire, some stun when you get hit, heavy weapon sway, low fire rate, slightly slow aiming down sights all to make it feel more grounded. So it may not be for everyone. It's not extremely innovative from the first game rather mostly fixed and more challenging on higher difficultues. You also play as another character half way through which makes you have to restart the upgrading. A few memerable sequences including some chases, escapes, skyscrapers, and boss fights.

Story: 5/10 poorly paced by adding flashbacks and skipping time. Characters motivated by petty revenge which is very hard to sympathize with. A lot of choices ellie and abby make or the way they act seem very inconsistent. With the way they all of a sudden feel remorse or let eachother live. Main character from the first game dies. That alone ruins the story for many people and was completely unnessacary.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. IMHO the game is incredible. Graphics, gameplay, environment research, fightings etc. I liked almost every minute of it including Abby's part and the ending.
    However there are 3 things I didn't like, that;s why only 8/10:

    (Spoilers)
    - Very long and unnecesarry Abby's part. At least 5 hours of playing could have been cut
    - The scene of figting with Ellie. WHAT? I hated this part, I cried and screamed that I didn't wanna kill her. It was horrible decision and I don't understand the purpose of it. I still was not attached to Abby enough to be motivated to do it.
    - The design of the main infected boss. I didn't get why it looked like that with other infected inside. What had happened to it?

All other scenes were awesome or at least okay)
Regarding Joel's death and the ending - I consider them logical. Joel's decision in the first game couldn't have gone unmentioned. The final battle between Abby and Ellie - I understood Ellie, I think she thought that there were enough suffering for her, she was almost dead after hanging on a pillar.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part 2 isn't a sequel for everyone but I happen to enjoy the game. This game is one of those games that not everyone will like and that's due to people having their opinions and that's great! A lot of people started to lose faith in this game due to the leaks coming out and as someone who saw those spoilers and was upset I can say that I didn't hate this game. The first game was about love and I love the story between Joel and Ellie. But this game is about hate and talks about the cycle of violence and revenge. I think people are at war with this The Last of Us Part 2 not because the addition of LGBTQ+ characters (even though some people are butt hurt about it), but because it's not a game that we see often. Naughty Dog knew that this game was not going to be received well by some people and made it anyway. I genuinely enjoyed this game and the story, even though people think it's garbage. Even with the leaks out I didn't let myself be swayed and stayed hyped and it turned out to be a great game. The downfall to this game and the reason I gave it an 8 out of 10? Abby. Not what she does or her reasoning but that we had to play as her. I'm not mad that they made us play as Joel's killer I only found it less enjoyable to play as a character that we barely knew for half the game. Her parts of the game were pretty bland and I found myself going on to only see Ellie again. They tried to show the story from the "villains" perspective and in all honesty it was just plain boring. It was cool to see someone's life besides Ellie and Joel but playing as her for half the game? A major part of the experience went out the window when I played as her. The story arc with Lev is about the only engaging experience when we play as Abby and even then I just wanted to see Ellie again. Making us play as Abby for her flashbacks with her dad was nice and they pulled it all together in the end with Ellie having those same PTSD like flashbacks with running down the stairs to get to Joel. The ending also wasn't bad at all, ending by an open window gave me vibes of the first game and showing the guitar leaning against the window to rot is a visual to show Ellie is leaving behind everything she knows and is continuing her story. She won't forget but she leaves the thought of revenge behind and goes on to hopefully live and find purpose. Will she see Tommy again? Will she make up with Dina and see Potato (JJ). The game gave an interesting view on dealing with death and PTSD while having some bad ass infected as an added challenge. I think there is room for a Part 3 and I would definitely play it as long as we get to stay with Ellie (Maybe because I love her more than I should but who can blame me?) . Anyway I give this game an 8 out of 10 and I just love my funky little lesbian!! Expand

If you are a lgbtq+ you will love the fornication (or if you are a psychopath, the killstreak LOL), if anything else, probably the multiplayer will make it count.
I gave this high score because i think there´s no limit for escapism in entertaiment, and if you want to experiment how is to be a quite violent person, that´s where this game really shines. So let me start by talking about all the negative reviews. I'm sorry there are things in the story that people either don't understand or don't agree with. I'm sorry that these people believe it has political connotations, even though both the original and remake of ff7 is full of political and environmental issues and no one batted an eyelid. I'm sorry that Ellie isn't straight and this makes the homophobic sick to their stomach (just wait till they find out that master chief is bi, lol). I'm sorry that it isn't all sunshine and rainbows but that is life. I'm sorry that many of these negative reviews are by people who need some maths tutoring as they cannot seem to grasp that if you give any part of the game more than 0, then the outcome of its parts has to be more than 0. I'm also sorry that many of these people either haven't played or barely played the game. I'm also sorry for the 94 critics who have averaged the game at 95 and being used as a way to say critics are out of touch. And finally I'm sorry xbox fans that you don't get exclusives but if your going out of your way to review bomb it, grow up as the console war died last generation.

Now to what I actually thought about the game. Graphically it is a beautiful game and does great job at fleshing out the world. The story does contain some plot holes but it doesn't take too much away from the game. Combat is enjoyable and I never saw the game as SJW. Crafting is the same as the last game essentially but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Overall I give it a 8/10 as it isn't as good as the first game but that was a steep mountain to climb.

Drop the political arguments and enjoy the game. God damn. Almost every game nowadays gets a bad wrap. Half of these people didn’t even play the game and they are forming a opinion kids nowadays. Also Xbox fans making FB groups to coordinate a review bomb that’s honestly really sad going out of your way to spread rumors to ruin others experiences good or bad is just pathetic. The Last Of Us Part II is not a game for everyone, many who played the first one will probably feel uncomfortable with the direction the story took in relation to the characters we love so much.
Gameplay and artificial intelligence have improved in many ways, making our experience much more immersive in the world proposed by the game.
The sound effects are almost perfect. The soundtrack

The sound effects are almost perfect.
The soundtrack fits perfectly in every moment of the game, making players really feel each scene.
But even if it has graphics, a soundtrack, gameplay and a lot of things improved from the first game, The Last Of Us Part II will possibly be much more divisive in relation to the direction the story takes. Leaving most fans of this franchise disappointed with the ending of their favorite characters.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 9/10 Graphics - Some very beautiful cut-scenes and the characters all look pretty good.
7/10 Story - The story takes a turn for the worst, but overall it's a pretty decent story its nothing special as its been done before loads of times.

7/10 Characters - If you can get over the fact that many if not all of your favourite characters will die a horrible death then they are good, Favourite characters get killed as if they meant nothing!

7/10 Game play - Again nothing new, its just the same as it was in the last of us part 1, all that's been added is a few new moves, a way to counter incoming blows and updated visuals. Game for me ran smoothly and encountered no bugs.

Overall i'd say the game is a solid 8.5/10 some parts i did not agree with but overall i enjoyed the experience and i did not find Abby to be as bad as people said she was.

I don’t think this game deserves all the hate, I really enjoyed it and I think that everybody should at least experience the game. The graphics and sound are insane, the graphics can rival some of the best looking pc games out there and the sound is just phenomenal it sounds so real and atmospheric. The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
