I think it's good that you can play both sides so it gives more depth. However, it would be nice to learn more about the side characters. For example, from Tommy how is his story from leaving the Fireflys to his in-game position. In all, the last of us part II is really successful and is a worthy successor to part I. Expand

The Last of Us Part II es un juego arriesgado y diferente. The Last of Us Part II es un juego arriesgado y diferente.

I finished it about 2 days ago, and it has not left my mind since. Graphics and sound hit the mark. Combat is fun and sprawling. Story is ambitious and well told. Doesn’t always hit the mark and is somewhat bleak, but the ending and overall story left me more than satisfied, with lots to think about, which will have me wanting to replay it very soon. Expand

Masterpiece. The ending was so evocative and compelling which made me to get deep into the story and think about all the aspects of the plot from every character in the game. we can take the ending as a metaphor for the pandemic that happened in world of the gam. the disease caused this people to all turn into sinners; they all have made big mistakes and at the end, Ellie tries to put all that behind herself and carry on with a new life. On brand for The Last Of Us series, it presents a dark, morally grey glimpse into a horrifying world. Violence is necessary, but also emotionally punished. Loss is commonplace and often leads to cycles of revenge. The nuanced thematics separate this game from others of the genre. It is incredibly effective at making the player connect with these characters who struggle so profoundly. The one issue I had with the game thematically was its anti-violence was achieved through gratuitous violence throughout. That said, it is difficult to achieve such a strong effect without this contradiction. The gameplay is fun, but there is a reason it has a reputation for questionable stealth mechanics and “idiotic” AI. Often predictable and occasionally baffling, the AI typically has a great deal of difficulty finding the player whilst in plain view. The gunplay can feel clunky as well, though feels very satisfying when making impressive shots. At times, the clunky gun mechanics feels immersive. I’m sure I would have trouble switching between various weapons in any situation, including an apocalyptic wasteland teeming with deadly zombies and deadlier tribes of violent humans. Most of the time, the gun mechanics would be frustrating, though not game ruining. The visuals fluctuate between beautiful at worst and stunning at best. The imagining of urban environments in the process of being retaken by nature is wondrous and haunting. A great deal of time was spent during my play through just taking in all the intricate details of the scenery. A game earns high marks for visual storytelling when one often stumbles upon scenes and can tell what happened before the player arrived with no words needed. The Last Of Us Part 2 is a force of imagination, thematics, visual storytelling, and excitement. It falls into familiar pitfalls other stealth based games struggle to overcome, but ultimately provides and incredibly compelling 20-30 hours of gameplay and leaves the player with a great deal to contemplate upon completion. Game does a really great job of making you feel for the characters, even at times you don’t really want to. While I wouldn’t say this is the type of story you enjoy it was successful in conveying the complexity of the world and endless tragedy brought by a desire for revenge. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part II is one of the most endearing and thoughtful games I ever experienced. It made me laugh, it made me cry and it made me feel terrible inside.

    1. Gamplay:

The gameplay is a step up from the first game, stealth, weapons and looting feel more natural. The difficulty is nicely adjustable, I like to challenge myself, but also don't want a game to feel like a chore. In certain sections however I got frustated with the looting / crafting system, since I had everything fully stocked and couldn't pick up more which didn't satisfied my inner horder and also got me frustated when I actually DID use my ammo / crafted items and after such instances missing them for about three stages after. Moving in the game either by foot aka prone, crouched, upright or even sprinting, felt great and often times created exciting momentum when in combat situation.
PLUS! The swimming / diving sections didn't make me want to scratch out my eyes or throw the controller away, so that's an improvement.

The vehicle mechanic sometimes felt lackluster other times exponantially good. The boot section in Seatle Day 3 with Ellie felt tedious at times, the exploration on horseback Day 1 however incredible.

    2. Level Design:

Overall the level design was well structured and the different set piece impressed me. Manueviring through Seatle either as Ellie or Abby never got boring, although from time to time I caught myself thinking: "OK, where's the hole in the upper wall I have to climb to progress this section?"

The levels ranged from small, one way streets to open fields, full of potential gameplay / gameplay style options. I have to admit, at one point I even got lost on bigger stages and ran around aimlessly until I finally looked up or the game's assistent actually told me where to go.

    3. The game's look:

The Last of Us Part II is gorgeous to look at. It definitely looks pretty at it's worst and stunning at it's best. From beautiful fields to gritty dungeon like buildings in Seatle. My only complain would be that I kind of got tired of Seatle's look after Day I Ellie until Abby's Day II. Everything was just masses bleak, gray buildings overgrown with green grass. However in terms of storytelling it does makes sense. I wish we could've played more different set piece than Seatle and then like 4 hours of Santa Barbara. I thoroughly enjoyed the beginning parts in Jackson as Ellie and Dina on Patrol and also the farm around the end of the game in term of enviromental design and change of setting.

And now onto the big, controversial point.

    4. The story:

I loved it and I am still processing everything that happened even after weeks of finishing the game.
Let me tell you, I knew that Joel was going to die and I accepted it. Truth be told, I was never a fan of Joel as a character per sé. I loved him in Part I not because of his personality alone but because of his interactions and his care for Ellie. Although, I have to admit, I loved Ellie from the her first appearance and in my opinion Ellie always had been the protagonist of the games since the start, Joel, even though I played as him in Part I, felt more like a side character next to Ellie. Her story, her experience in the TLOU universe was the point of view I cared about.

And oh boy, Ellie's journey in Part II broke my heart over and over again, leaving me a crying mess at the end of the game. I felt like Joel seeing "my baby girl" being torn apart by her actions and her grief made me suffer and hate everything that happened to her. I empathized with her, a fictional character, to understand how she could just go on and on even though she was clearly hurting herself and everyone around her the whole time. At the end of the game I got the feeling Ellie after Joel's death sought revenge on Abby only to punish herself for not forgiving herself and Joel for their own actions.

Abby as a stark contrast I actually didn't like that much from the beginning until the end. I didn't care much about her friends, her life or her struggles, however I cared about the people she wanted to protect. She changed over the course of the game and in the end I wanted her to succeed in her plans of finding the fireflies not for her sake, but for her companion's - Lev.

I like that the bait and switch from Ellie to Abby after being confronted by her in the theater on Day 3. I actually looked forward to see her experience losing her friends one after the other I got to kill as Ellie.

At the end of the game I didn't want either of those women to die. Just rest and be happy again for god's sake.

The only thing about I really disliked was the last chapter in Santa Barbara. It felt tagged on and rushed and I didn't get enough info on a new section "The rattlers" to satisfy my need for world building.

Overall I recommend this game and advice to empathize with it's characters struggles and inner thoughts

This game does not deserve the negative review bomb it received. The gameplay is still as solid as it was in the first game. And although not much has changed and some people argue that there is not much innovation to detect: why fix something that isn’t broken?

The stealth aspect of the game and the A.I. of the enemies remain still very well implemented. This leads to some very interesting battles and epic fights. Most of the times intelligent and tactical planning is what’s required, sometimes you just need blazing guns and every resource you can find to survive. Item crafting possibilities have been expanded to some degree. Some new enemy types have been introduced.

While playing the game, I did experience doubt and aversion at times about the directions the story pushed me in as a player. That being said, in the end it all made sense. At the end of my first playthrough, I understood what the writers were pointing out to and what insights they meant to provide me. Taking such bold moves and choices in the storyline to implicitely deliver the messages (eg. revenge will get you nowhere) deserves credit. Especially since the game’s story works as a mirror to you as a player. It challenges your own feelings and dispositions. I therefore think the storywriting is actually quite solid. Just like the first game the story delivers an emotional experience and at times really pulls you into it. In comparison to the first game, the story arch is a bit less straightforward and deliberately split up into two distinctive parts and timelines. Therefore it can be a bit more confusing than the first game.

Graphics are simply stunning and pushing the ps4 to its limits. Sound design is brilliant. Especially when playing using a headphone, new levels of sound details can be found.

Finally the designers have put lots of effort in accessibility of the game for people with visual- or other physical impairments.

Of course the games also has some flaws: some of the fights can become a bit tedious and repetetive, especially towards the end. Also, I think the game could have been a bit shorter. Yes I mean that, 20-25 hours max would have been just as fine. On some occasions there were some dialogues that were either unnecessary or took a strange turn. At some points characters popped up or left quite suddenly with no good or believable explanation.

All in all I honestly think this game deserve a very solid 8 at least. Pushing it to a 9 here to compensate somewhat for the unfair review bomb, mainly based on leaked footage and people

The ugly side of gamers turn their head once again. They can't handle a lesbian protagonist so they find every possible excuse the reviewbomb this awesome game. (Not saying all of you who gave this game a bad score did this because of this reason). I for one finished it and thought it was really good. Better than the first one? I'm not sure but certainly close.

However I can say without any doubt that this game MUST be played if you want to se how the feeling of revenge can bring human being to madness. I liked also how Naughty Dog created some scenes: I had a huge sense of anxiety when Abby had to face all those Clickers, Runners and Shamblers in the destroyed house with Lev and Yara. Recommended for everyone who likes emotional plots. Expand

Absolutely awesome game in all aspects.
Graphics are maybe the best I've seen ever, music and sounds made perfectly.
But the main aspect of The Last of Us Part II is a history.
This is one of the most Anti-militaristic histories I know, with different, interesting characters and beautiful, but scary, world.
I hope we'll see a worthy continue of the Last of Us world.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Beware the bandwagon haters on this one. Naughty Dog gave us a tremendous game here that emulates a lot of what we see now in The Walking Dead. The living, in a post-apocalyptic world, join the dead as being serious threats to our livelihood as they all pursue a better world. You take the reigns and feel the hope and helplessness of all of those characters, who have deep backstories that Naughty Dog allows us to explore. While we may thirst for just the senseless 1st person shooter (and there are elements of that here sure) what we get instead is a humanistic trial of survival and a game that questions your moral compass. Perhaps the only downside is that there are no real choices to make in the game...do you choose to kill or simply to wound in your battle? do you question who is innocent or guilty? are there characters who can choose to help or hurt you? The answer is no, and that is a beautifully missed opportunity in this game that begs for it at times. Still the gameplay, responsiveness, and AI is relatively flawless and TLOU2 is a game that is hard to put down. the choice of weaponry is strong and how you build your character is a reflection on the type of assassin you want to be (stealth vs. guns-a-blaze?). At times the story does get bogged down with cut scenes, and it sometimes gets clunky or off the rails is terms of strategy (the blob boss in the hospital is the perfect example), but otherwise the game is intense, bold, and scary as it is endearing and tender. I admit I was annoyed by the oaf-ish way Joel was portrayed in contrast to the original, how major characters were built up only to get shot in the head and all memory of them gone forever, and the Ellie-Dina love affair felt forced and I did find myself, at times, rooting for Abby. It made me question the game negatively until you realize, that's the point. It's supposed to leave you stunted and unsure how to feel, much like the characters in the game itself. The original LOU was perhaps the greatest game ever made and any sequel was going to leave some fans disappointed, but to give the game a 0 or 1 rating, is just flat-out stupid and can't be taken seriously. TLOU2 is truly a masterpiece in its own right, as a completionist is took me about 35 sitting hours to finish on hard and as soon as it was over I was ready for TLOU3. Expand

I know many people hated Abby. But we kinda need to be in Abby's shoes. Joel killed her father. Abby gets her revenge, and violence leads to more violence. Ended up,Ellie and Abby lost everything and everyone they once cared for. Hence,"Revenge isn't bad but obsession ruins everything." I'll give the story 9/10, but the gameplay is definitely 10/10. I have NO idea why other reviews are so low. My guess is they take ONE negative element from the game and score the ENTIRETY of the game so low, that it raises eyebrows to the people who have never played it. The negative element of the game is apparently the story. There are a few instances in the story that don’t appeal to hardcore fanboys and fangirls of the first game. However, that’sI have NO idea why other reviews are so low. My guess is they take ONE negative element from the game and score the ENTIRETY of the game so low, that it raises eyebrows to the people who have never played it. The negative element of the game is apparently the story. There are a few instances in the story that don’t appeal to hardcore fanboys and fangirls of the first game. However, that’s the way the story is told, and who are WE, the players, to decide what the story should be? In life itself, things don’t always go our way in our own story, so why should that be in a video game?

With that being said, the only real part of the story I will have to discredit is the ending. It feels empty and leaves a lot more to be desired. In fact, if they could chop off about two hours of gameplay from the end, I would have happily given the game a score of 10 out of 10. The graphics are immensely gorgeous, and very convincing. Shooting enemies and blowing chunks of gore off the bodies are incredibly satisfying. The infected, with a lot of the same types of infected, are just as frightening or more frightening as the previous game.

The expressions and emotions that the characters convey are absolutely realistic.

This game does not deserve the score that it’s been getting from other critics.

So I will give it a solid 9 out of 10. If you are unsure about buying this game, just buy it! You will not be doing yourself any form of disservice.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I finished the game a few days ago, and it has taken me a minute to process everything that happened. I think that it was a powerful and grounded game. It delves into consequences of actions, and sometimes the smallest decision can have the worst consequence. This is a world with no laws or rules to hold people accountable. Justice can be sought out by anyone, but justice also varies based on the perspective. And that is what this game shows.
I loved getting to see how Abby and Ellie's paths affected each other. I thought it was heartbreaking when I knew Abby was seeing one of her friends for the last time, and that really made me think about how willing I was to hit the square button while playing as Ellie. When I began playing as Abby, I didn't like her, I didn't like what she did, and they make really you take over at a very tense moment. But the longer I played as her, the more I felt bad for her. Although, I still didn't enjoy fighting Ellie as Abby, and it was a hard fight too (proud of Ellie for that).
The attention to detail in this game was absolutely amazing. You can really see the time and effort that was put into it. The gameplay was fun, and using stealth and the tools on hand to take out large groups of enemies was a rush. The dodge button and the jump button were so useful as there were countless times I found myself using them even when it wasn't necessary because they were such a great addition to the gameplay.
While I still don't know how I feel about the ending, I have to admit, this was a beautifully done game with a powerful story.

I thought ND gave a themselves a unique challenge of trying to humanize what seemed to us to be a monster. Thereby, making the gamer feel conflicted about his or her own feelings in regards to which of the characters are justified.. Unfortunately, they didn't execute that flawlessly, so you ended up with half baked empathy for Abby (and most people still being team Ellie). All in all, I respect a good tragedy. Throughout my play through of LoU Part 2, I genuinely couldn't understand why it had such a low user score - the game plays like a dream, visually stunning, technically amazing and the story is incredible if not horribly bleak at times.

So with these points in mind... here's what I demised.

    First Point, Gameplay.
Not straying far (if at all) from what made the first game so great to play, all the mechanics from the predecessor are back. Crafting, pill supplements, fluid stealth or gunfights depending on your play style, listen mode... all the familiar traits are back which if anything have been tightened up for an even smoother ride. There aren't too many new elements that have been introduced and resources are once again pretty scarce, so exploration and using your findings sparingly is key, but having played the first one, you'll soon get back into the scavenger mindset.

Speaking of exploration; this is more of a big deal in Part 2. Whilst it's not an open world game, the sections are HUGE. You will need multiple play throughs to see everything, and having gone over every section as finely as I possibly could, I still found myself missing treasures, artefacts and who knows what else.

Combat and general gameplay is once again airtight. There are no loading screens, lag or drops in frame rate making the whole campaign very fluid. There a couple of bugs that have worked their way in, but these are few and far between which don't generally interfere with the experience too much, but there were a couple of moments where it killed the illusion for me slightly because when they do happen... they are noticeable.
There are also many great cinematic chase sequences along with seriously intense fights - my heart was racing on numerous occasions from pure adrenaline.

Seriously though... the fights are something else.
The first game had its fair share of balls to the wall conflicts, but Part 2 expands on this hugely. Every NPC has a name, making it all the more guilt ridden when you hear one of their friends crying out in despair after you mindlessly pop a bullet through their head, or worst yet end up killing a dog when it's them or you. At the start I thought this was a nice touch and would maybe make you think a little bit more about mindless violence.
However, it's later in the story when you truly see the consequences of your violent actions that make you question yourself and everything you have been through up until this point in the game. More on this further down.

    Second point, Visuals.
Not much to say here aside from the LoU's game engine really gives it everything it's got to deliver a visually breathtaking world.
Starting off in the beautiful sunset overlooking Jackson, painting everything in luminous golds and oranges, all the way through blinding snow storms, rainy and flooded cities to fires raging through a settlement - all the environments are painted with glistening detail. Two of the most impressive elements are the shadows realistically given off by your flashlight, and the effects of water that convincingly soaks as well as darkens everything it touches.
They also didn't spare any detail on the grimmer side of the LoU world either just to note - if you shoot someone through the head even with the "weakest" gun in your inventory, it's going to leave a realistic chunky mess accompanied by convincing audio to keep you battling your lunch down.

    Now, the story...
Now, from what I have seen in other reviews, this is what seems to upset so many people. I'll try to avoid too many spoilers!
The story in a couple of words is incredibly intense, and at times very bleak. The story truly expands on Ellie as a character and we see a whole new form of her - blinded by pure rage and the promise of revenge, you see her inflicting acts of violence on a whole new level to what we have previously seen.
The genius of this game though lies in the consequences of these actions. Unlike any other game I have seen, you truly see the impact of what bloodlust and revenge leads to - pain and torment. When the game switches in the second half to Abby, you end up understanding her and her companions more, getting attached and then maybe even siding with her despite the awful introduction.
No other video game has put you in the shoes of the "antagonist" in this way, and I can only say it truly is very important that a game has finally done something like this - we are saturated with violence in video games, and in a way it can make us desensitised to it. Last Of Us Part 2 flips this round and makes you get attaches to these people you are set out to kill, and in the end makes you feel genuinely uncomfortable for having to carry out Ellie's actions.
Basically, this is a game that really makes you think. It is depressing at times, but this is pretty real depiction of what would happen were the world to fall to ruin like this.

Геймплей не сильно изменился и это хорошо
    Графика 10/10
Сюжет может не всем понравится,но мне кажется что его надо просто понять

One of those “wish I could forget it so I could play fresh again” games. Tragic, gritty, and consuming, The Last Of Us Part 2 leaves little to the imagination when it comes to the brutal nature of revenge for revenge’s sake, and it skillfully explores and unpacks themes like cultism, loyalty, and forgiveness. This game is a cinematic wonder, and although games with less meaningful messages can be just as fun, I can see this genre of story-centered gaming continuing with strength. Thanks Naughty Dog! GRAPHICS: about the graphics it really nice, all are built very well and awesome, Not only does it work well in large contexts and smaller details that are closer to the player have been built meticulously. I do not remember going through 2 similar locations in the game each place that brings a very honest and unique alert, If we go into the details, we can look at the surface of the water, which is measured as the graphical power of the game and they are really hard to criticize. Despite saying that, I do not believe that TLOU2 is the most beautiful product on ps4 in the present time, but the names that surpass it are few.
MUSIC: Sound again is the plus point of every game sound effects of the game,Besides the combat effects effects and environmental sounds are also carefully cared as the wind whistled in the snowstorms, the sound of fresh water in the storm, and many more. The whole thing shows players the heat of a post-apocalyptic America, The whole thing helps players feel the difference of a post-apocalyptic America, Of course, it would be a big mistake if not to mention the soundtrack of the game, which was previously considered a strong point, naughty dogs know how to control the emotions of the player with music, sometimes climaxing in fast-paced action scenes, sometimes deep, thinking with the versions. joel and ellie guitars, and sometimes there's a bit of a splash, However for TLOU2's soundtrack is not 10/10, the music has done its job well, but it has not been able to reach the level of perfection like the sound effects.
GAMEPLAY: TLOU1 has been praised in many different angles, but some will agree that gameplay is not among them, TLOU2 retains most of the features of its predecessor and improves them, melee in the game is now like a game. pull in and push when you need to dodge when the enemy takes a hit and then counterattack, not just press a button like in the first part, As for the long-range weapons, there is not much change in the number of guns that you can use in the game, if you want to have many guns to kill enemies in the game, I'm afraid that part 2 does not meet the requirements that, You can upgrade weapons in certain locations in the game like the first part and the upgrade chambers do not have too many changes, The most obvious improvement is now building ellies in the direction they want through learning life skills, there are relatively different survival skills you can learn, STORY: i don't know what to says about this 8,5/10

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
