This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A great story with deep characters and moral conflicts.

The first half I was definitely on Joel's and Elly's side, but this all changes after discovering the past of Abby and her family and friends. "There are two sides of a coin" never felt so apt.

The only thing I don't enjoy was, that the game often felt long, it took too much time for the essential story.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have seen a lot of reviews for this game, that either praise it as a 10/10 game or outright slate it, accusing it or betraying peoples trust, or saying it is badly written. Neither of these cases ring true to me.
First off (here is the spoiler bit) If you did not see Joel's death coming a mile off, then you haven't been paying attention to storytelling. Joel possibly doomed humanity at the end of the last game. Now while he did this for Ellie, he would have to pay the ultimate price for this action, that may well see humanity go extinct. While it is a bitter pill to swallow, as Joel was an excellent character, i do believe it does not hamper the game. Ellie is a character that we get to see come in to her own, as she sets off after the Wolves. Her progression, her anger and her determination are all palpable, and believable. Abby also gets some decent treatment in that department. She goes from being someone you hate for what she has done, to someone you can understand, she even has her redemption ark, something that is also a traditional story trope. While i can understand why some people are unhappy with the story, you can not say that it is poorly written, while still claiming to be a fan of the original, as the methodology and quality of both games are very similar. The inclusion of a trans character is something that i think has people screaming about "woke" culture, which is quite literally a ridiculous reason to be bitter.
The ending has also caused some issues for people, again i can understand some disappointment for some players, but i think they made the right call. Ellie is after all, supposed to be the hero, and must find a way back from that precipice, otherwise they run the risk of turning her into another Rick Grimes.
My biggest issue with the story telling would be that i felt there were too many flashback chapters, or that they went on too long. While i think the development of each character was important, those chapters felt longer than i wanted them too, and i would find myself thinking "oh not another flashback" but other than that i don't feel a need to complain

Now for the game play aspect. Some of the niggles from the original have been rectified, others still haven't. Gone is the need to craft lots of shivs (mostly) which annoyed me in the last game. However, movement still feels awkward at times. I missed the traversal puzzles that were present more in the first game, and while they have a few bits like that here, i feel there were not enough. While i am not offended by boss battles, there is definitely a rather annoying one later in the game, where the enemy is more the environment, rather than the giant infected that lurches towards you. There are occasions where i feel like my character was in cover, but was easily spotted, despite the same level of cover being sufficient five minutes ago. My next gripe is one of an aesthetic quality, film grain annoys me in games, even more so when the photo mode allows me to take shots without it. i really wanted an option to turn that film grain off for the whole game, which is otherwise remarkable for a PS4 Pro. its visually one of the best games of a generation and will be showcased for years as a good example of what the PS4 was capable of.

All in all, This is a high quality game, that makes some unpopular choices. but overall, it is a quality title, worthy of praise and not derision. It isn't perfect, but it is excellent.

It’s a minor fault but for me it slowed the game down just when it was gaining speed. A couple of inexplicable decisions by characters marred the story but not enough to derail it. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. For these past few weeks, I've been giving up sleeping hours to use whatever "free time" I have during the night to indulge myself and experience what I believe is a landmark in interactive storytelling - the Last of Us: Part 2.

Many people think modern video games are just glorified Pacman, electronic reflex spazzers with no essence or soul - far removed from literature, cinema or TV series. This cannot be further from the truth, and this game is a shining example of this fact. The Last of Us: Part 2 is one of the best story-driven epics any modern medium has to offer, and ranks among the the most memorable of any series, movies and literature that I have experienced in the past decade.

Set in a post-apocalyptic United States suffering through a cataclysmic plague, the Last of Us: Part 1 was the story of two survivors - Joel, a man tasked with escorting a young girl, Ellie, across the United States - and the incredible hardships they face on their journey to a safe haven where a light at the end of tunnel might possibly be found, brought upon them by the effect of a deadly infection that has decimated the world. Infected humans litter the streets, having succumbed to a fungus that turns them into rabid monsters, while all civilization has broken down. While this is the backdrop, the Last of Us: Part 1 was a story of loss, a story of fatherhood, a story of acceptance and of hard choices, and ultimately - of hope.

The Last of Us: Part 2 continues the story of these characters in this terrible world, but focuses on a different theme. As the game begins and the characters you love so much go through something unfathomable, you can't help but feel the blood running cold in your veins, as if your soul has left your body, as you just lust for a violent revenge and terrible retribution, but as Nietschze's famous quote goes:
"He who fights with monsters should be careful lest he thereby become a monster. And if thou gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will also gaze into thee."

The game's story is interestingly inspired by the head writer's experiences growing up in Israel. He recalls watching footage of the 2000 Ramallah lynching, where a Palestinian crowd killed and mutilated the bodies of two Israel Defense Forces reservists, and how, after hearing the cheering crowds, his mind turned to violent thoughts about bringing the perpetrators to justice. I am certain many Israelis have had the same thoughts. However, later comes the realization of the reality of the wishes we hope for and the choices we make, and the vicious cycle that is revenge.

Keeping this in mind, the game dares and uses rhetorical devices and literary tools that would be complex for any author or director to utilize. As the narrative progresses, it causes you to question who you are and what you believe. The script is flipped on you, and you go through an emotional journey that is difficult but enlightening, in the end. This game is a bold and monumental undertaking, and is filled to the brim with a passion for pushing the boundaries of what is possible in storytelling. In my opinion, only interactive media can even attempt to create an experience quite like this.

In the end, the Last of Us: Part 2 is a harrowing, meaningful, challenging and tragically exquisite story, and is a testament to the efficacy of video games as artistic expression.

however, there are some things that do bug me, like when you change character and you start playing as abby, you go on missions who are not really central to the plot. like you barely see the carnage that ellie is leaving behind her, and that was a real bummer. and the fact that this game has 2 endings, like, it ends, and then it ends again, the second one was a little forced, a little weird, but it is still damn good, give it a try, ****

There were moments I remember clearly where I was struggling to stay alive in the game, and yelling on my couch because it got so intense. It's the same feeling from Resident Evil 4 where fear comes from scary enemies and overwhelming odds. Survival, especially in the stealth sections, require a lot of creativity. It's very rewarding when games require you to think and make it clear that there are a lot of options. I played on moderate, and found it pretty difficult. There was incentive to avoid being seen and remain in stealth, because enemies easily overwhelmed you and drained your supplies otherwise. I never got bored even with this long campaign, which is impressive.

Alright, the story. It bugged me, but I think that was the point. Part 2 continued Part 1's theme of characters doing what the characters would do. In other words, the events are realistic when you consider the game world and the character's experiences. The writers did not try to make a story that would make fans happy. While it's admirable, it causes inevitable discomfort. That's why I can't give this game a 10. But I don't think the story ruined the game.

A few other notes. The start of the quest is a little slow. This game is very large and provides a lot of opportunity for searching for additional lot and even upgrades. Sometimes it rewards, sometimes it punishes. Again, that's realistic. It also can be really boring at times however.
Graphics are beautiful and motion capture and faces are crazy realistic.

The graphics are second to none and wouldn't look out of place on the PS5, so I applause the art designers for that one. Gustavo Santaolalla has given us another masterpiece with the beautifully elegant soundtrack for the game. The gameplay was amazing, the animations were so realistic and the stealth mechanics are some of the best I've experienced.

If I could change a few things they would be:
    - Play the game earlier in the timeline, making the game maybe 10 hours longer. This would allow us to experience the amazing flashbacks as actual parts linearly. This would add to the emotional trip Ellie experiences throughout her story. (Also giving us more Joel aha)
    - Let us play the whole of Ellie's story and post finishing the game, say now you can play Abby's story and see what she was doing the whole time. I get this ultimately defeats their aim with Abby, however, I believe playing as Abby disrupts the flow of Ellie's revenge-fueled emotional voyage.

And for that, I leave the review with a solid 9/10

First things first; is it as good as the first game? Absolutely not. Even the people praising this game will admit that, in terms of the story it has to tell, it doesn't quite live up to that of the original TLOU. It was, however, most likely the best sequel that we could hope for. Everybody will agree that this game excels in most regards. The graphics are breathtaking and arguably the best on the market right now, the music is masterful, the gameplay offers everything that the first game did and then some, and the actors involved put on an outstanding performance and really brought the characters to life. Nobody gripes about those (and nobody gives the game credit for them, either, unfortunately.) The real problem most people have is with the story.

I would first like to clarify that it is not, by any means, a bad story. I will accept the argument that it is painfully underwhelming, because it doesn't compare to the first game's story, but it's not BAD per se. I went into this game with low expectations after hearing what everyone online was claiming, but I was pleasantly surprised. I ended up thoroughly enjoying the game. It's a bit slow to start, but the gameplay immediately roped me in. Even if you're the type of person who is disappointed by the plot and thinks that it's painfully mediocre or even bad, I would still say that the game is worth playing solely for the other things it has to offer (music, gameplay, visuals, etc). The story is definitely very different from The Last of Us 1, but during my play through, I was still engaged for all of it. Demanding that the quality of the sequel's story is on par with or exceeds that of the original game is asking too much, but the story this game presents is more than serviceable. The dual-narrative experience brings more to the table than your traditional, run-of-the-mill revenge story. and it forces you to empathize with characters who you would ordinarily vilify and allows you to see the events of the game through a completely different perspective. Across both narratives, the pieces of the plot gradually fall into place over the course of this slow-burning game, and in typical TLOU fashion, everything finally clicks together in a gritty conclusion that actually feels faithful to the cruel and unforgiving world that the game has constructed.

At the end of the day, the game still seems to be a hit-or-miss. It still feels like The Last of Us, but some are disappointed with the plot. I would say that it's most likely due to how different it is from the first. All I can give is my personal experience, which was much more positive than many of my friends' experiences who also played through the game. If you enjoyed the gameplay of the first game, you will certainly enjoy the gameplay of TLOU2. The music fits the environment eerily well, and if nothing else, is at least worth a listen to on YouTube. The visuals are still stunning. If you end up enjoying the story like I did, you'll have a wonderful time with the game. If the story disappoints you, you'll most likely have an underwhelming and mediocre experience. I can only speculate, but I'd reckon that the reason people are so upset by this game is because it is not quite on the same level as they've come to expect by something with "The Last of Us" in the title. The story is more complex, and the characters aren't as fleshed out as they were in the first. The game takes some bold liberties with the plot, and if you're not eager to open your mind up to a little bit to change in how the series conveys its message differently than it did in the first, then this game may not be for you. The main thing dragging it down in most people's minds is likely the fact that it's a game related to TLOU. If this were a standalone game and its own IP, people would likely be much more fond of it, but some are not fans of the changes that were made.

I would like to reiterate that I personally enjoyed the game very much, and don’t think it was detrimental to the franchise. I'm giving it a 9/10. It was definitely a game worth playing, but how well it lands is largely dependent on the player and how open they are to the risky developments that Naughty Dog has taken with the franchise. Either way, I would recommend playing it. It's not The Last of Us 1 by any means, but it's still a good game that I will likely play again at some point in time.

The story... It's rare for a game to make you feel something... But just like the first game, this story makes you feel a lot of things, and due to the alternate perspective element of this story you end up feeling even more. I will be playing this game again soon.

(Why only 9/10?) I feel that the story could have given me more in terms of answers. Anyone who has played the first game will know about Ellie's arm, this was mentioned/referenced maybe 3 times throughout. This story is not about a cure at all, this story is about living in this new world and deciding what you want to fight for and when you decide to fight for it or let it go. But this story never really climaxed, rather it just kept building up to not much and then hanging back a bit before building up again and then taking its foot off the gas. Don't get me wrong, there were a lot of emotional scenes, but despite the fact it is made like a fantastic film, this is still a game and we do need a story which gives us satisfaction through that gameplay (I.e pulling the trigger that finally kills the protagonist, or making the final decision to do the thing you were trying to do the whole game, or even choosing to walk away). Most of the important moments were just a cutscene, then we went back to the same (fantastic) gameplay.

I would not want anything from the story to be removed, rather I'd want some of that story to be gameplay rather than a cut scene and some additional character development/backstory added for the unanswered questions.

The gameplay, graphics and sound are a big improvement from the first game which is to be expected but it really is one of the best looking and sounding games out there regardless of opinion on the games plot. The sense of brutality and emotion in the last of us 2 never really drops off from stealth kill to gun fight to cutscence it will have you questioning you're morals and emotions from beginning to end. All in all a solid game with a narrative that is very rarely seen from a video game or movie so I rate it highly for pushing the boundaries of narrative driven singleplayer games, graphics and audio.

This game is the most emotional invested game I’ve ever played. The way Joel died made me want to **** beat the **** out of Abby. The game wanted me to feel that way, you have to think about how the game is trying to make you feel and understand the feel and keep on playing. That’s why the user score is so bad because of Joel’s death. This is one of if my top games of all time. If you don’t like the game, just play through it again and understand the emotional investment it puts you through. Understand the hate it will give you towards Abby. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is one that really comes for you and it comes for you hard. Let me first start off with the great. Visuals, soundtrack, lore, tactics and the ever changing mission and level even though must of the game is set in the same place are all on point and above expectations.

I knock off a half point because of some minor technical issues with the initial release that seem to have been corrected upon a few patches. Nothing major just some slight shifts in lighting that briefly pull you out of the experience and some random hit box type issue with the environment.

But let's be honest here. We're all here for the story of this game. This game loses a half point here for me due to unfortunate circumstances that this game is not only incredibly bleak but it comes as one of the bleakest times in the world around me and in my own life. I found myself struggling emotionally and had to step away from the game after a couple hours to just decompress.

I love the dual narrative aspect of the game, re-living the same points in time from two different perspectives. I love how the two main protagonists share that same duality in their respective missions and how we get a different taste of the first game.

Now, I think a lot of people dislike this store for reasons that well are silly and therefore shouldn't be taken seriously. However there are valid criticisms of the story. I do see this as a logical step for the characters but I don't know that it's necessary, again due to the bleak times. We see Ellie loose everything and then some. We see beloved characters killed for no good reason. We see people broken by revenge and how it takes everything from them.

What we're left with is an engaging, hard hitting story involving north of two dozen lives and are confronted with what happens when we don't let things go that we should. When we have everything we want out of life, except that one thing, and we give up the rest of our world for it.

I think this game is a great commentary on loss, revenge, found family, friendship and ultimately sacrifice. If only serenity could be granted to some, all would have been better off for it.

The game is AMAZING, graphics are mind-blowing, and the gameplay improved a lot. The only bad thing about this game is that it lasts too much. After playing 20 hours it gets a little boring because you do exactly the same things in the same way, and it gets repetitive.

I think many of the decisions Naughty Dog made were made with the intention of affecting the player, not the characters. At times that meant betraying the nature of the universe they built since the first game. It is definitely an upgradeable product but we can’t deny the technical and artistic achievements of this game. Once again Naughty Dog evolves throughout the industry.

The game plot deconstructs the plot and the main idea of the fisrt part. The fisrt part declares "You must get, what you want to. Price doesn't matter" And the second part asks "Does the price really not matter? And how big price can you pay?". Ellie's falling into the dark, when she started to kill everybody, killed the pregnant woman and became so cruel, and Abby's rising, when she saved Yara and Lev, swap them. Ellie started to seem like a villain, and Abby started to seem like a hero. So, when the end is coming, you can not understand: who you want to save. And it's great

I, personally, like this game – the story and the way that it's told – much better than Part I, which itself was told in a very simplistic and linear fashion. The characters in Part II were much more developed, and felt much more like part of the story. By contrast, in Part I, the only characters that were truly developed were Joel and Ellie; while every other character felt like a random encounter.

My only major issue with the game was the looting mechanic, which I felt was too monotonous, and a little detrimental to how otherwise immersive this game is.

There's also one particular segment that I thought felt unintentionally ambiguous. Without having to spoil anything, I can just say that it had to do with reporting an address in Santa Barbara over the radio. Luckily, this was just one small misstep in otherwise perfect storytelling.

I highly recommend that everyone who has any interest in this game play it through till the end. It will send you on an emotional roller coaster ride, so make sure you take brakes to recover, but it will be worth it in the end.

I think, and this is my take, that the gamers (whatever that means to you) community should grow up a little cuz this is so embarrassing, watching some grown up guy or lady screaming and screeching himself/herself on youtube over a virtual dog who's got killed because (surprise) the dog attacked the protagonist. Oh God!!! Never thought I'd come out and write on a metacritic cuz a videogame is being harassed and misunderstood. Anyway, this is it. The game rocks and the story is one of a kind and good like to you all, there's so much happening in the world requiring us to get mad at than a video game.

This game is nearly perfect. It´s really polished and looks fantastic. It run´s smooth ah on the pro. The changeover from PC back to console is preatty easy with this game.

The Gameplay is preatty straight forward and in my opinion the stealth mechanic is rly fun and better than in the first game.
The story is the Elephant in the room here. The decision from ND in this game with the death of Joel and the revenge story with Elly is in my opinion really good. It shows the futility to revenge violence with more violence. It touched my heart at some points tho. I played a lot of Games in my life. Take Billions of virtual lifes and never regret anything but here it was hard for me and I needed some breaks from the game. It demands a much from you, you can´t choose the path Ellie is going, it´s just like in a movie, you need to see ANYTHING.
That the devs let you play Abby in the second half is good too. It shows you that the Fulfilment of revenge doesn´t change anything in her life. It shows you that Abby isn´t just an antagonist. Joel took everything from her so she took everything from Ellie. The revenge limbo is insane and I think it´s hard to describe this feeling of the game in an review.

I recommend to anyone of you reading this to play this masterpiece to form your own opinion.

My only critic at this game is that the part from Abby is partially too long. The Game could easily cut by 10 hours play time to maintain the tension of the playthrough.

In the end I think the game just needs some time to get in the place where it belongs. Maybe in 10 years we all look back at this event.

The Last of Us Part II is an impressive, deeply moving experience. It is not an easy shot at a sequel, it is not a repeat of the first game, it is not fan service and for that, it deserves praise. It's bold and doesn't take the easy route. It takes elements from the first game, and builds upon them, having the first one's events directly impact the second one's. That's good story telling. It shows consistency, as well as being realistic about characters having grown after an ellipse of four years. As a player, it makes you feel about your actions in a way I just haven't seen before.
Aside from the story, it's gorgeous, the score is incredible and the acting is mind blowing, as well as having really good and diverse gameplay. Even if you don't like the story, it's a great game that deserves a lot more than a 0, and all these reviews only prove that people are rating it with their emotions. Scoring it 0, even while acknowledging the undeniable beauty of it, is being completely biased. Only real critic from me is the pacing, it's a bit long and puts on the breaks a bit too hard in the middle, but i'd say it's still worth it in the end.
Also, I am very glad for the representation of minorities and well-written women in this game, not just as support characters but as the main character.
I'll just conclude by saying that at the very least, it validates video games as an art form, capable of compelling story telling, really beautiful visuals and insanely good acting. Whether you like the story or not is an opinion, not a reflection of whether the game is good or bad.

Created an account to write this. I genuinely empathize with people that hated this game. Waiting patiently for this game to come out, only to be let down sucks. I know because I finished this game devastated. The difference is that I can appreciate the experience and the people that hate the game seemingly cannot. Waiting patiently for this game to come out, only to be let down sucks. I know because I finished this game devastated. The difference is that I can appreciate the experience and the people that hate the game seemingly cannot. And that's not a criticism--I think it's fine to not like where the story goes or what they game makes them do. But I think the disconnect here is that people had an expectation--whether they were mislead by ND or not, honestly I don't care; I don't understand the urge to know anything about this game before playing. I only found out how divisive it was upon finishing it because of how much I insisted on not having anything spoiled--and are upset about not getting what they expected. I've now read the holes poked in the story, the criticism of characters, all of it. But people are trying too hard to find faults in it because they didn't like the direction the studio took. Because the game I played was heartbreaking, emotionally draining, beautiful, thoughtful, conflicting, and engrossing.

I could never tell someone that played the first that they will enjoy this game but I will recommend it as emphatically as I can. It is an experience. My rating is somewhat conflicted because in my book, TLOU is a 10/10, full stop. One of, if not my all time favorite game. I give this a 9 because side by side I can't say TLOU2 is *better* than the first; but the experience and what the game put me through matched, if not exceeded the original. I appreciate this game because it *didn't* give me what I expected. It delivered an incredible, emotional experience and while I would have preferred the story go a different way, I appreciate the thought put into the way it went. I would have to go back to Super Mario Bros. 3 to recall a game I immediately started over as soon as finishing it, but I'm doing it with TLOU2. This is a great game, but it won't be for everyone.

The game is one of the best I have played. The story broke my heart and it could be different. But it isn't, so they wanted to show us a story, a really hard story. But it is the story and it's Okey. I can live with it. Maybe I was going to enjoy with other story. Perhaps I would prefer playing with Ellie all the game or that Joel can be alive and we can see him taking care Ellie. At least a few hours or a chapter. Because, we waited 7 years to can see him. And it's hard to support a game without our main character, the best character I played. But it's what they wanted to show us. So we have to play it and live with it because it's only a game. The most important game, in my opinion. But I can live with it. Again, in my opinion, all the people who made the game deserve we accept their job and we have to say thank them

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First off, the gameplay is identical to the first instalment - scavenging, gun battles, modding weapons and creating explosives. It's all there. The dialogue is great and well acted and the graphics are beautiful. Some of the best you'll see on the PS4.
The enemy AI is amazing, which makes the gun battles and stealth kills all the more enjoyable and satisfying. In short - if you loved the first game, you will love this game too, purely from a gameplay perspective.

Now, having completed the game a few days ago, I'm still thinking about it and it even compelled me to come here and leave a review.
This game is all about an emotive narrative - it will anger you, it will make you sad and it will also have you questioning what a protagonist really is and what an antagonist really is.
As in life, we all have our stories and we can all justify our actions. Put that in a post apocalyptic setting, where the only rule is survival, the ways things 'played' out in the game isn't too overly far fetched.
Okay, there are some weak points: Why would Joel and Tommy volunteer who they are and where they live to strangers? Why was Ellie spared multiple times throughout the game?
But how many times do you watch a movie or a TV series (that you love) where you find yourself asking these things, and who's to say these won't be addressed and answered in the next Last of Us game (there has to be one, surely?).

However, the driving force here is how emotive it is.

The overall feeling from this game is loss; it's a tragic story and yes, devastating things happen to characters we love. But it's a cruel world and bad things happen everyday, so imagine what it's like in their world? This has to be taken into account - there are no protagonists or antagonists in this world, just survivors.
Joel did some horrific things in the build up to meeting Ellie and it's even said by Ellie during the gameplay (when scavenging with Dina).
People's actions have consequences and despite all the loss and brutality, Abby and Ellie show flashes of compassion towards one another, as they're also struggling with what's 'right' and what's 'wrong'.

You might not like how the story plays out, but that's how it goes sometimes - it doesn't mean it's a bad game or even a bad story. Far from it.

The truth is that the last of us 2, whether you like it or not, is one of the best games available in 2020, of course, not all of this is based on the story of the same game, it could have disappointed many, since they expected something great to will beat the first par thing that from the beginning is almost impossible to do, since the first game is literally part of the culture of the gaming world, the story itself would give an 8.7, this teaches you how cruel people are and that not always they do what you want, example of how ellie does not kill abby, many would simply say that she should have killed her the person who played the game doesn't really know how Ellie really feels, and how her life changed to have to make that decision, but let's say the story was terrible, horrible and not worth it, I think that if this will happen, the game of anyway it would have a rating above 8, the team that was in charge of making this jewel of virtual realism are geniuses, very rarely do we see a game that makes you feel that you are in it,This game by itself without the story shines, and this shows, the bad reviews that this game has are only from people who hate history, a game is not only based on this, the gameplay is amazing, the setting is incredible and its realism is scary, I feel that people get carried away by the reviews of the streamers who barely touch the game, if at least they tried it for a moment they would know that it is a great game which was overshadowed by the first tlou Expand

first lets adress the presentation: this game is 90% in one city, seattle, nevertheless this is not a limiying factor for the devs, there is a lot in this game, from beatiful eyecatching to oh pease i want to go out of here, in production values the acting the animations the flow of everithing that is in screen its outstanding a 10/10 with out a doubt
Now gameplay: if ypu like the gameplay in TLOU part one you will like this one, it's mostly the same with some variants and new weapons and options, the exploration for resourses and upgrades it's untouched . new enemies as well that you will need to lean how to dealt with an 8/10
the story the most cotrovertial parto of all the game, i like it, but its not for everyone, you need to throw your expectations of what you want to see, and go to live what it is. The themes of moral grays and bad desitions are one of the main focuses, the mirror that is abby to Ellie and viceversa. how hate, anger, vengaence just leads to nothing and destruction. how someone can throw love, stability, family and everything they have in live just for anger. It leaves you thinking what was the point of all. and thats a bitter sweet conclution to a bitter sweet wolrd, my only problem besides some chessy dialogle its that at some points the pasing of the story feel aticlimactic, that i would have been presented the same events but in a differet order. but besides that its a compeling stoty with struggling chracters that you will learn to love, hate, cringe and lots of things. 9/10

It might be a really messy situation when you get to know that you have to play as Abby and you view Abby as a villian.

The same with the transsexual character, they do not tell us directly and nothing happens if he is a trans person. Even with my massively high hopes and expectations, I had a great experience with this sequel. ND had a lot to live up to, and they certainly took some risks with the bold plot decisions and ambitious writing. What I will say is - I avoided almost everything about this game before it was released. Hardly paid attention to so much as a trailer amongst the chaos of the leaks etc. By doing so, I had no pre-existing views on this game whatsoever, and allowed myself to experience it on a completely blank slate with an open mind as I'd intended. There are so many fantastic things to take away from this game that people are completely overlooking because of the things they dont like. I personally love the gameplay, as its familiar with regard to the first game and doesn't stray away from what we know and grew to love, however it's still been healthily adjusted in ways to be smoother and very enjoyable with a few new touches to it. I played it through on Survivor difficulty for my first go at the game, which was a refreshing challenge. You really have to be conscious of your resource consumption, and have to make the effort to explore the areas you come across to get the most out of your travels. I think the stealth side of the encounters is very thorough and enjoyable, while being very tough at times. The same goes for a more aggressive, gun-based approach none the less. NPC behaviour is much less predictable and you have to be very patient. I'd recommend playing this game on a harder difficulty to get the most out of it honestly. If you are one of the more veteran fans of ND games, there're are a few nice Easter Eggs to be enjoyed through the game if you take some time to look around. On that note, the treasure-hunting side of it is quite comparable to that of Uncharted, yet the lore within the many artefacts you will discover is incredibly detailed and adds a whole new layer of depth to what's already going on through the game. The artwork is amazingly detailed as I'd expect, and the scenery/settings just look fantastic wherever you are. I am also massively fond of the composer of this series. As a musician myself, I found I really appreciated how great the compositions are, and felt they were executed incredibly well through the game. These are some elements that particularly stood out for me. Now to confront the negative responses to this game... I believe a vast amount of the players aren't even attempting to enjoy or understand some of the elements of the game that make it a great experience... I dont necessarily think it is absolutely flawless, and I can appreciate genuine criticism that is put forward reasonably of course. There were decisions in the story that didn't just sit right with me at first, and I'd have to let them sink in over the course of the game. I eventually came to understand the parts that I initially met with scepticism. I wouldn't expect everyone to have the same views as myself on it and that's fine. But I am seeing a ton of very shallow, limited criticisms that are presented very bitterly, and just seem completely sheepish as far as I'm concerned. Not only that, but I have seen some takes on certain things that are just so dim-witted that I can't even take them seriously, since the people putting such judgements forward obviously lack the compacity to think over a story on a deeper level and are completely misundersting aspects of the plot in the game. Furthermore, last time I checked, not even half the owners of this game had actually completed it themselves. Funny how there's an overwhelming amount of loud negativity towards the title when you consider this right? Play it with an open mind and form your own opinion. I wish people's approaches weren't so narrow-minded and that they thought for themselves for a change... Anyway, that's how I see it. I don't mean to rant on this, but some of you will understand where I'm coming from, others will write off the game and everything I'm saying because they are blinded by resentment and pre-existing opinions already. It is what it is. I hope some of you can take the positives from this game amongst anything you may not like as much, and form a genuine, balanced opinion on it once you have finished it. How one can score this game as low as 0 is absurd to me. It isn't as if no effort has been put into making it, but you would think so based on some of the irrational, compulsive reviews people throw around online on very limited grounds.

I hope anyone who hasn't already experienced TLOU Part II can take my review on board and approach the game with an open mind like I did myself, and you may just find you are able to throughly appreciate what this title has to offer. If you have read this far, thank you for putting the time in to do so.

But everything he promised, he fulfills with wisdom and still being better than expected, such as: Beautiful graphics and full of details, as well as the effect of blood, animations, footprints in the mud, water, facial expressions, in the setting (giving the impression that this has really been abandoned for years). His story, which is actually very good, is also courageous, giving a great twist at the end, giving several life lessons and also approaching the point of view of some characters since in the game we control more than one character. It also brings striking scenes and emotions with very impactful deaths. Another thing I liked was that the game got bloodier and more realistic, addressing heavy topics (such as pregnancy, revenge, grief, loss and insanity). Speaking of gameplay, it is not very different from the first one and as I said up there "it is not revolutionary", but it still has some small improvements. Another positive point is that the places were more open, with stores with intensity that can help you. Containing parallel stories that even connect with events. The only thing that took some of my immersion out of the game was the artificial intelligence that is still kind of stupid compared to the first but that's it Besides, the game is incredible and it was one of the best experiences I've ever had in the gaming world.
