I just finished this game and I can't even find words to talk about it. I didn't know what to expect going in. I avoided spoilers, but I knew it had very mixed reactions.

    This game is a profound meditation on the consequences of violence and revenge. By the end I was reconsidering my thoughts and feelings about all the main characters. The lines between good guys and bad guys blurred until it disappeared. I never started liking Abby or hating Ellie, but it did make me feel sorry for both of them. They were both put on a path towards revenge by someone else and it cost them both nearly everything and everyone they hold dear. I can't imagine a better image for that than to show Ellie coming home to the empty house.

    The Last of US was an amazing step forward for narrative in video games, but this one puts that to shame. This masterpiece may very well be the best storytelling in gaming, period.    … Expand

    This is an excellent game. Amazing soundtrack, great story, complex characters and it has some of the best visual effects I have ever seen in a game.
    Most people is just mad cause they wanted a "happy ending" this game feels like the real life. No one is special, not even your main characters.
    The game makes you feel many emotions.

    This game is a masterpiece! Probably the best story I ever played since GTA San Andreas. Don't believe in negative and closeminded reviews here. If you're not open minded and don't want to explore the different perspective of the story, and if you think you're stuck with the emotions when you played the Part 1, then this game is not for you.!

    For me is 12 out of 10! Amazing game, no doubt. Great story, directed in very interesting way. Loads of story twists and jaw dropping moments on the way! And to most precious thing in this game is climate, with perfectly chosen music.

    Far, far, far too long. It's like they included a DLC that you have to play between the end of the game and the epilogue (which should have been on the idyllic farm - Ellie should never have gone to Santa Barbara).

    There was also no good reason for Ellie to go through all 3 days. She barely escaped with her life from a few scenarios and she could have just turned round and gone home at any time, especially once she found Jesse & discovered Dina was pregnant. Tommy was fine on his own. The stakes were never high enough (unlike the first game where Ellie was going to be the source of a cure). I just spent most of my time thinking what's the point?

    I wouldn't have minded playing as Abby - I think it's a good idea to see both sides of a story - but the whole thing was just dragged out far too much. I was bored of playing as Ellie at the end of day 3 and thought I'd finished the game. Then I had to play as Abby for another 10+ hours (which I also got bored of, literally an hour or so into day 1). Some scenes were also very hard when playing on hard.

    There was absolutely no reason for Ellie to leave the farm and go after Abby again. It was just pointless. It also annoyed me again because I thought I'd finally finished the game and Ellie had found happiness, only to have her inexplicably throw it all away to go back to hunt for Abby, and again, why? She and Joel were survivors... I think she'd have been glad to have been in love and with Dina. She wouldn't have gone.

    In this game I also couldn't help wondering how zombies stay alive. I mean, Ellie goes into a building that's been deserted for 20 years and there are zombies walking around in there? I did think that in the first game but I let it go. In this game though, when she falls through a floor or something and there's a monster waiting for her it was just a farce. But it's a zombie game, so I almost let it go, but couldn't really this time.

    Literally, the best game ever made. Soundtrack, character development, brilliant script. The way this games plays with your emotions 2 TIMES is something really well constructed. Congrats Neil, you just made a perfect game. (I guess the reason people didn't like the game, is just because they don't accept
    homosexual relations, or they simply wasn't ready to play it ). Shame on you guys.

    Very dissapointing given the calibre of the first game. Game is fillled with unlikeable characters and is incredibly long which makes the gameplay feel tired and repetative. Pacing is horrendous with lots of flashbacks and backtracking

    Una GRAN (Mala) sorpresa:
    TLoU II era EL juego esperado, sobre todo si habías jugado al TLoU de PS3 o la remasterización en PS4.
    En mi opinión TLoU II cuenta con unos gráficos, jugabilidad y apartado sonoro muy buenos, que son (lamentablemente) sus mejores aspectos. Y porque lamentablemente? porque todo lo bueno de esos apartados se ven manchados por una pobre historia y personajes que    Una GRAN (Mala) sorpresa:
    TLoU II era EL juego esperado, sobre todo si habías jugado al TLoU de PS3 o la remasterización en PS4.
    En mi opinión TLoU II cuenta con unos gráficos, jugabilidad y apartado sonoro muy buenos, que son (lamentablemente) sus mejores aspectos. Y porque lamentablemente? porque todo lo bueno de esos apartados se ven manchados por una pobre historia y personajes que me decepcionaron totalmente.
    Los gráficos 9/10: Son hermosos, de lo mejor en PS4
    La jugabilidad 8/10: Movimientos suaves y precisos
    La música 8/10: Santaolalla se pasa otra vez, y no le pongo un 9 porque en TLoU me impacto mas.
    Historia 1/10: Totalmente decepcionante, no atrapa como en el primero. Hay partes que las jugué rápido solo para avanzar en la historia y que se terminara de una vez (es lo peor que te puede pasar).
    Personajes 1/10: Todo mal acá también! Joel se merecía mas, mucho mas. Ellie baja un par de puntos con respecto a la primera parte, se esfuerzan por hacerla quedar mal y casi lo logran. Abby... solo vas a querer que termine pronto, se esfuerzan por querer justificarla y solo crea mas rechazo al personaje.
    Conclusión: Un juego que tenia el potencial para ser LA joya del ocaso de PS4 y que solo será recordado por sus controversias y dividir a la opinión de los jugadores.
    Una ABSOLUTA DECEPCION, no se lo puedo recomendar a nadie.    … Expand

All the hype, the time spent waiting for this hot garbage!!! I played through the first game, an absolute masterpiece, no less than 10 times. This game, I couldn’t get it over fast enough. It was brutal playing as the enemy for far too long. Killing Joel? Ruining everything you built in the first game? I don't xare about abby, or mel, or owen or anybody. I understand the message of revenge being bad but the execution was just awful. Red dead 2 has a better "Revenge is bad" story that was executed perfectly. The ending of the game left me vastly disappointed. How ellie throughout the course of the game murders and butchers through so many people and even kills dogs in brutal ways AND tortures a girl to death but as soon as she's about to kill the one person that caused her to lose so much she just suddenly can't. And people are trying to say that she regains her "humanity". Sorry no that's **** SHE KILLED SO MANY PEOPLE IN CRUEL AND BRUTAL WAYS. She lost all sense of humanity. Some sections of story drag on and the game just feels way longer than it needs to be. Joel's death should have been built up better. Maybe start the game playing as Abby and showing the whole thing with her dad being the surgeon Joel killed and she swears revenge. Let us spend enought time with her and her squad to get attached and sympathize with her. While I personally always thought Joel would die or have to suffer the consequences for his actions at the end of the first game. I think the sequence of events leading up was poorly done. I did not hate Abby and enjoyed her quite a bit as a character.

    Id of much preferred NaughtyDog to have focused on new characters in this universe instead. But I think most of the "controversy" and accusations of "pandering" is just dumb and baseless.

    If you take the time to think critically instead of your heart, you'd find the game alot more deep and enjoyable. The games message is deeper than 'violence bad'. It's a story about revenge, grief, acceptance and forgiveness. It's meant to make you uncomfortable and question your own beliefs. I still think this is a great game overall. But compared to all of NaughtyDog's previous games I've played its rough.    … Expand

    Realmente me conmoví y disfruté la trama del juego, y aunque algunos de mis personajes favoritos murieron, en ningún momento deje de disfrutar el juego.

    - Easily the most beautiful soundtrack, environments, world-building and graphics of any PS4 game.
    - Complex characters making flawed, human decisions makes for a gripping story.
    - The perspective flip to Abby took me by surprise, and nailed home the message that these people you're killing are the heroes of their own story, and that Abby and Ellie are two sides of the same coin.
    - There are a lot of lovingly crafted cutscenes, which enable character development which makes the pain raw and heavy when those characters are unceremoniously killed off.
    - Seattle is well realised - I spotted several buildings I'd been to! It's a shame they clearly weren't allowed to use the Starbucks name!
    - Holy **** every time I had to kill a dog or an enemies mates called out his name....christ. It's a bleak and violent world our protagonists live in.

    Overall, having completed one playthrough, I find it to exceed the emotional weight of the first game, improve on nearly every aspect of it, and truly made me agonise and empathise with the characters.

    I am a naughty dog fanboy, and this release only cements that further. I can't wait to see where they go next, but I feel like Ellie's story is done.    … Expand

Begging from the first trailers in 2016, where old joel was replaced with jessie in the game and old joel being replaced with a younger joel in some of the flashbacks that were meant to be in game present time.     I went into this game blind, with only having beaten the first game and avoiding all trailers and reviews. I think the story and character development are amazing, if very intense. I loved Abby's character, and by the time the credits rolled, I identified and empathized with her more than I did Joel or Ellie. I couldn't believe the risks that Naughty Dog took with this game.

    Be warned however, as this is the most violent game that I have ever played and makes the first game look pretty tame by comparison. The level of violence coupled with the intense emotion and trauma makes this game NOT for the faint of heart. I'm being serious.

    I am docking a point from my rating for one reason: Santa Barbara. That's all I'm going to say. If that chapter was removed, this game would be a 10/10 to me.

    I'll be honest, I'm not 100% done with the game but so far it's incredibly well-paced, looks great, plays great, and has a gripping plot. IDK what the haters are all about, but the Metascore is definitely more accurate than the User Score in this case.

The storytelling is compelling. Most of the negative reviews seem to be based on a dislike of how the story unfolded for the main characters. I certainly felt conflicted about the overall plot. But the way the developers force you to grapple with your own moral matrix and sense of right/wrong.     Excelentes gráficos, ambientación y muy estricto detalle tanto a rostros como todo el juego, un juego que debes jugar, lamentablemente la dirección del juego no fue aceptada por el público debido a que no fue un producto fanmade, pero siendo objetivos es arte este juego.

    Directing: B+ (Druckmann isn't Ozu, but it's still industry-leading. Cameras, pacing, scenewriting are all good in my opinion. Not perfect, but good. Epilogue detracts from this, as do some abrupt transitions and overuse of flashbacks.)

    Characters: B (ND took a huge risk in Abby. If you hate her then you'll probably hate a lot of this game. I personally think she is a great character. Other highlights: Dina, Owen, Joel. Weak points abound for Jesse, Manny, Tommy, Yara and Ellie. The last one being another thorn in people's sides. I understand why. Flawed but still industry-leading: Maria, Lev. I care more about all of these characters than just about any character in any other video game.)

    Story: B (I split this in two: 1 = narrative cohesion and plot is quite poor overall. I don't take much issue with the cohesion of the main game's events - they're wrapped up into a tiny 3-day package so that makes sense - but the epilogue is a painful addition. 2 = Narrative power. The narrative makes for extremely compelling gameplay and moves things along like a nuke has gone off. Extremely effective narrative in this sense).

    Gameplay: A+ (Game engine is robust and satisfying. Gunplay is awesome. AI is second to none. Difficulty is too forgiving at higher difficulties - you don't take that much damage. Large gap between survivor+ stealth sections, which are hard, and survivor+ gunfights, which are easy. Shows overreliance on super-vigilant AI to emulate difficulty    … Expand
