    This game is dripping with atmosphere. The gameplay is the smoothest I've experienced in this generation and the soundtrack holds up to the first game.

    I enjoyed the story but is has its problems. Especially when compared to the first game. Even if the story isn´t the way we expected after watching the trailers or replaying the incredible first part, The Last of Us Part II is an amazing game. The graphics, details, facial expressions and just everything is very polished. Even if the gameplay is very similar to the first one, the improvements on the AI makes it a different and more interesting challenge. As I´ve seen, the story, the decision of making almost half of the game to be played as Abby and the ending are the most disliked parts by players. But I really don´t think those decisions are bad, they make you experience the game from a new perspective to show you that there is no villain or hero in this world, just people trying to survive and hoping their loved ones survive as well.
    My only "complaint" would be that I think Abby´s part sometimes felt a little dragged and some of the characters in her side of the story weren´t really memorable, but nothing too bad or excessive, I think the ending was justified and a good way to end this story, even if it clearly isn´t a happy ending or anything close to it, since Ellie´s ending is absolutely hearth-breaking.
    This game was truly an emotional rollercoaster, filled with amazing and emotional moments that will be in my mind for a long time, as this just became one of my favorite games of all time.

    Naughty dog really didn´t lie when they said that some players would love the game and other would hate it. I guess the best way to find out i trying it out for yourself ad making your own opinion about it.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I honestly am appalled by all these other reviews of 0-4. I played TLOU1 and LOVED it. I was emersed in the world of a post-apocalyptic fungal dystopia full of smugglers, fireflies, infected, Joel, and Ellie. It seems most of the people disappointed with the game are mad at the story of Abby and how to player is forced to play as her and to hunt down Ellie. I honestly dont know why more games do not use this format. A game that forces you to take on both sides to the point where there isn't really a defined protagonist vs antagonist, but instead two conflicting protagonists is unique and hard to accomplish. I heard there were spoilers and leaks before the game came out but I decided to avoid them like the plague. I scrolled social media and reddit with blinders and quickly clicked away from anything related to this game. Im so damn glad I did. I just went on an emotional rollercoaster that gave me a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach in all the right ways.… Expand

You don’t have to like the developing of the story to rate a 30 hours+ game full of great gameplay, incredible animations, and amazing acting. It is a masterpiece even if you don’t like the story. Just because the story isn’t what you expected and wanted, it doesn’t mean that it deserves hate or a 0, a 3 or a 4. How much of an obvious storyline would have been if it was just a new adventure showing all over again the relationship between Ellie and Joel? It is done to show you that, in a post-pandemic world where 3/4 of the population have been decimated, no one is safe, no matter how hard you try to survive. You have to be aware that everything you want to do or to share with your friends, your family or the people you love, you must do it as soon as you can, ‘cause every moment you spend with ‘em, could just be the last one.… Expand

    Im an old gamer. im playing games for 20 years now. I dont care for good graphics. When i was a kid i whould imagine the graphics to be good not bad. So that was not a problem. I play games for stories of them. I found last of us and the game was great so i bought the ps3 (i had a old pc). It was brand new with last of us. The game was great really good story good graphics. So i got hypedIm an old gamer. im playing games for 20 years now. I dont care for good graphics. When i was a kid i whould imagine the graphics to be good not bad. So that was not a problem. I play games for stories of them. I found last of us and the game was great so i bought the ps3 (i had a old pc). It was brand new with last of us. The game was great really good story good graphics. So i got hyped when the trailer for last of us 2 came out. i was amazed. i thought that the game whoud be great! But it wasnt the case. When the game was released i selled my ps 3 in hopes to buy ps 4 so i can play last of us 2 but before that in my recomended on youtube there was a video named Joels death scene. My favorite character was joel so i thought they were joking so i wathced the video and realised that the game had realistic graphics but as i said it is not soo important to ave nice graphics it is all about the story. so i didnt want to buy the game or install it even if it was free. The story is really fu*ked up and it is so weird to play as a main villian that killed the main character of the first game. i wathced a gameplay and saw that it is not good. these two points are just for the graphics the story is really bad. I wish they ended the sequal at the first game and just leave the Last of us and the last of us left behind. Those games are truly epic and the last of us part 2 just ruins it. It just ruins story adding a she-hulk kill joel in the most stupid way possible. it whould be ok if they make joels death a little bit better. They made him look stupid in the second. It is just cruel to make a beloved caracther just to be killed later on it is just stupid. And the end is just weird. I really wish that the sequal ended on last os us 1 .     Ellie is desconstructed as the character we loved and become the angry person blinded by revenge that fells shallow during the gameplay, you care about the old characters, like Joel and Tommy, but it just fails to create bonds with the new, and when its about to do it they kill everyone, they don't expand the lore at all, it fells like they needed make a sequel for the money despite don't having a story for it.

    The gameplay its good and the graphics are good also, but the E3 2018 looked better.

    Played at PS4 Pro, only runs at 1440p30fps, fans are really loud (console cleaned inside 1 month ago) look as good as GOW but runs at half of the resolution and GOW had a 1080p high Fps mode so i don't know what happened

    Play if you want a good post apocalyptic game, if you want a sequel to TLoU 1, its very disapointing

    The base foundation of the game is pretty good.
    What has been built on this foundation not so much. The writing, characters and storyline fail to sum up to something worth being released under the name of this brand. This game has left me nothing but depression. No excitement but question.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It’s been a very long time since a game has made me contemplate the choices of the protagonists to this level. The writing is very good and the combat is reminiscent of the first game but undoubtedly improved. This story took an immense toll on me emotionally for a couple days, i couldn’t get specific moments, scenes and decisions out of my head. I beat it relatively quickly and had to take a break from heavier dark material for a few days. There are warm moments of friendship and love, as well as devistating and disturbing moments of gut wrenching violence and loss. Jury’s still out as to whether or not i like Abby personally, i do very much see what ND was going for and respect it, even if i would have rather had a full Ellie Adventure. I would give the game a 8.5 but i can only do 8 or 9, so i’m rounding up because the GRAPHICS are pretty phenomenal, even on my base PS4. PS4 Pro is even better. I’ll end by letting you know that all the bad hype this game is getting, is undeserved. People want something to hate rn so it’s getting review bombed. I usually don’t agree with the critics but i sorta do this time. I do thing the first game is superior, because it was a tighter, more concisely weaved structure and story, but this game (if you can handle the gore) is absolutely worth playing. 9/10.… Expand

    What a mess!

    I never thought a game would disappoint me so much that I would come and leave a detailed review. I spent 30 hours playing The Last of Us Par 2 and I did not enjoy them.

    Following an amazing game that was The Last of Us, this game falls short. To start off the players are not given a multiplayer mode which would have not changed the review but it would have been better than to just leave us with the bitter taste that ending was. This game takes a story approach that I have not seen any game/movie done successful in a long time. Joel, the main protagonist of the first game was no saint and some can argue he saw it coming, but how many parents did he and Ellie killed while in their quest? Even now in the second game, Ellie becomes a mythical beast just killing anyone in her sight. Joel deserved a better death. As a player what really bothered me was killing Joel and making me play as the killer for half of the game. Why ? On top of that the director of this game thinks that while we play as her we will forgive her. This game even makes Ellie look like a villain. I lost count on how many times I let Ellie put a bullet in Abby's head to get some type of satisfaction out of the whole encounter. This game had no identity and did not know what to do with its characters. The game also introduces idiotic side characters that you only want to avoid. I have no issue with Ellie being lesbian or Abby being built like a wrestler. I actually liked they did not have the generic type of character. I did have an issue as to why the game had to force a love triangle with the two characters it had. Funny enough they all end dead except Dina which was my least favorite side character.

    I would have loved if this game would have let me the player make choices and my choices had consequences in the story. The developers had plenty of time to develop this game. The graphics show the true potential of the PlayStation 4. I played it with the basic edition and still ran amazing. The gameplay was almost the same as the first one except they added some small mechanics that changed the formula a bit.

    Overall, I feel disappointed. The game is not as bad as most people make it look like here, however, the game is not a masterpiece either.    … Expand

    Amazing gameplay , graphics and storyline. I saw the leaks and was scared... But they show you everybody perspective and motivations. Tlou 2 and RDR 2 are the best games of the generation in my opinion.

    I will start with the easy stuff and advance through the harder and the more controversial stuff.

    Technical quality is top of the industry both in graphics and audio, it isn't a surprise but this achievement is even more impressive that the game is on the Playstation 4 console that is almost 7 years old at this point. But the more impressive part is the attention to details that makes this game so immersive.

    Gameplay is much improved over it's predecessor and level design is simply amazing with some influence from Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy. it's nothing revolutionary but it's a natural evolution of a everything that was in The Last of Us. New types of enemies added to the game and older enemies are refined and feel more unique than before, with a well done AI that made my experience more challenging with the higher difficulty like I wanted.
    I also like the slight change in gameplay throughout the game, although at the start it felt like a startover, it quickly picked up and was refreshing.

    All the extra options and accessibility in the game is simply amazing, I haven't used them but the amount of stuff you can modify in the game from a custom difficulty and changes to HUD all the way to modifications that change the experience drastically that can be count as cheats for some people that have no need for those modifications. This is an amazing addition and I hope more singleplayer game will take note and implement stuff like that, I love when we get more options to choose how we want to experience a game to suit us.

    I personally liked the story and think that it truthful for the first game, but I do understand why this is so controversial and understand why some people are upset with the story itself and not necessarily the level of writing. Story about the cycle of violence is nothing new, like most other things unfortunately, so the execution is what matters here and in my opinion I think it was well done although a bit flawed. Naughty Dog used the fact this is a game and not a movie or something else to enhance the story by dragging the player to do things he doesn't necessarily want to do. I can't recall when I experienced that in a game before, I might have but usually I feel rewarded by story in games and that what makes this game standout for me.

    side note: I remember that the first game was planed to be a single game and after it was release Naughty Dog said they will make another game only if they got a story that they want to tell. Well that was that story they wanted to tell and I respect that a lot because they took huge risk here and all the controversies show it, I hope people will accept it and move on instead of try to bully the developers to give them what they want. I do think it was a bit blown out of proportion as a result from the leak.

    to conclude, I do recommend this game a lot, it's brilliant in all the technical stuff and the gameplay is very good. you might not like the story itself or certain parts of it, but give it a chance even when it's hard especially if you liked the first game. This is something you got to experience for yourself if you are a fan of the first game or those kind of games.    … Expand

It respects the true narrative of Ellie's story, as she's not the sweet girl from before the final act of the first game. A lot has gone through her mind in those years after the hospital massacre.. she feels guilty about those lives taken by Joel, but she also wants to forgive him, and that's brilliantly shown in the flashbacks. Of course, the narrative could've been different, and that's my issue, but that's art. The concept of art is not giving us what we want, but to give us something from the point of view of the artist. I've become very found of Abby, as I learned her story. She's a victim of Joel's rampage to save Ellie and that's one of the reasons I think she spared Abby in the end. Joel loved Ellie, but he was traumatized by what happened to Sarah and his wife, in that he couldn't bare to lose the last person he really cared about (of course there's Tommy, but you know what I mean). The things he did culminated on his death, and the narrative does not have flaws right here.
    The gameplay and graphics are incredible. I grew tired of the same stealth kill animations after sometime, and that's my main issue. It's a stealth game, they should've invested more on this.
    The story is not for everyone. If you're someone who sees same sex relationships with prejudice and disrespect, you should not play this game.. actually you should stick to games with muscular men and things like that (every homophobic has a fragile masculinity). Other than that, the story is painful. Heavy. And you need to pay attention to everything so you don't become an internet troll, throwing in the trash the effort of the people involved in this amazing project.

Eu entendo as críticas negativas, mas não consigo concordar com quem diz que esse jogo não tem nenhum valor. Só pela gameplay excelente e gráficos lindos de morrer ele já vale no mínimo 5. Além disso, a trama, quer você goste ou não, é envolvente, isso não tem como negar. Quanto à qualidade da história, essa é a parte onde as coisas ficam realmente subjetivas. Fiquei um dia sem tirar esse jogo da cabeça depois que eu terminei, e não por um motivo ruim, mas porque ele me fez sentir coisas que eu nunca tinha sentido (ou pelo menos não nessa intensidade) e que até agora eu ainda acho difícil explicar. Não é o jogo que eu queria. Definitivamente não. Mas é o jogo que eu precisava. É o jogo que o mundo precisa entender nesse momento que estamos vivendo. E é um jogo que está escancarando quem nós somos por dentro, e isso às vezes não é bonito de se ver. Talvez por isso muita gente não esteja gostando, não sei. Talvez por isso eu tenha relutado de início. É quase um experimento social. Ele te força a desenvolver empatia e aceitar que você não é o centro do universo, e que ações ruins têm consequências ruins. Para todo mundo. Mas as pessoas são egoístas, eu incluso, então claro que muitos não iriam gostar. A meu ver, a Naughty Dog sabia disso, e mesmo assim se arriscou para passar a mensagem incrível que eles queriam passar com esse jogo. Para mim, a pior parte do jogo está sendo ver como algumas das pessoas que estão reagindo negativamente simplesmente não querem entender essa mensagem. Essa é a lição que eu tiro do jogo, no fim das contas: a humanidade é podre porque se recusa a entender que o outro é você e você é o outro, assim como todas as consequências dessa afirmação.
    Se o primeiro é 10, esse é 9 só por um motivo. Joel merecia ter tido mais tempo de tela (e de gameplay) e ter sido mais respeitado. Não tenho nada contra a forma como ele morreu nem com ele ter morrido no início do jogo, mas a cena da morte dele ainda é muito estranha de assistir. Realmente foi mal roteirizada, ele parece outro personagem. Ah, sem contar a propaganda enganosa da Naughty Dog, mas aí já não diz respeito ao jogo em si.     Part II is not a perfect game, it excels in almost every major way compared to Part I, expect for the structure and pacing of the game. There's no hero/s or villains in this story. There's humans that have flaws, and make bad decisions due to selfishness, anger and hatred. By the end of the game, it's clear that the game isn't about revenge, it's about forgiveness.… Expand

    If you wonder if the game really is that bad to be deserving a 0/10 (if you can even call it that, really tries to be more of a movie / walking simulator / interactive storytelling experience) - yeah, it is. The story is abysmal and illogical holy schmokes. Gameplay has been simplified compared to part 1, and there is less action of that simplified gameplay, too.

    This is simply an awful, awful game. I thoroughly enjoyed the previous TLOU game, but they managed to both ruin the gameplay sections of the game as well as the story elements of the game with some terrible writing, especially towards the end.

    I will give credit to good accessibility options. That's it.

I do not need to be taught these baby lessons, especially not from a game that I held dear to my heart. Games are meant to get us away from the world and take us to a nice, bad-ass, and just a simple great place... not to be my parent or mentor and try to kill off dear to heart characters to prove a point/message. SECONDLY, do not hide behind this message and use this as a scapegoat to say that IF YOU THINK ITS BAD, YOU DONT UNDERSTAND THE MESSAGE AND YOUR BAD AND YOU JUST HATE WOMEN AND BLAH BLAH BLAH.. I cannot believe a game that has been waited for 7 years and played for 20+ hours, has glitches, wonky game mechanics, and SAME GAMEPLAY FROM FIRST ONE AND ALSO 7 YEARS TO TEACH ME A LESSON ABOUT REVENGE ?!?!?!?!??!?! Joel took Ellie as a daughter, a daughter that Joel lost in the first game, and that first one you guys beautifully put together...And in the ending of the first game any father if put in that situation would've saved his daughters life.. and killing one doctor that if he just let her go and NOT POINTED A KNIFE AT HIM SO HAPPENED TO BE THE DAUGHTER OF THIS RANDOM WOMAN.. If you wanna talk a message then 2 wrongs don't make a right and her coming to kill Joel was WRONG if you wanna talk messages and you could've made it any other way if you wanted to introduce this character 'Abby' by making her come for Joel and not being able to do it (Kill Joel) and forgive him and understand what the circumstances might've been and JOEL WE ALL KNOW WOULDVE APOLOGIZED AND BEEN KIND.. This story was just a wannabe hard hitting emotional wreck that doesnt need to be there. Imagine if in Modern Warfare 2 chasing General Shepard for killing Ghost and Roach and being in the moment of killing him and STOPPING BECAUSE "REVENGE NO GOOD" we're not 3 years old. That game (CoD Modern Warfare 2) would've been a disaster if they didn't kill General Shepard, and I don't care if you guys killed Joel but in the way that you did as if he deserved such a horrible gruesome scene ?? If he died in an honorable way and towards the end to make it more satisfactory for the players than fine.. this is a GAME not a Life Lesson and you destroyed the game trying to act as if this wasn't a game and a life lesson.. Wow and such a pathetic scapegoat to make Joel and Tommy look stupid like babies too who don't know the rules of survival, to be wary of who you trust ? The world design is also a step up, it really feels like a living environment. The graphics (as you'd expect) are also fantastic, probably one of the best looking games this console generation will see.
    But the story...I so wanted to like it but after finishing it, I just don't feel happy or satisfied at all. I understand the shock and awe approach to Joel's death and what they wanted that to do but it just feels wrong. Troy Baker's portrayal of him is sublime and he needed way more screen time. I was going okay up to the end of Ellie's section and then to find out that the next half (literally half the game) was to be played as Abby, this new character who I couldn't have been less interested in, was such a put off.
    Again I got that they wanted to show a different perspective of the entire story and blur the lines of morality but it just didn't work in my opinion.
    I also felt the roster of side characters wasn't as strong. The likes of Bill and Trish, Sam and Henry, were all what made the first game so special when combined with Joel and Ellie. But with this game it was all missing.
    I so wanted to love this game but I just don't, I really feel that they missed the mark with what mattered most in a sequel to part 1.
    I don't think there's any chance of a part 3 from here and I don't think I'd want it now anyway    … Expand

When it comes to graphics this game pushes it it is a beautiful game that in itself should already give this game of 3 out of 10 even a 4. As for game play it feels like a minor upgrade to the first game so I can't really promote that. and I honestly don't recall ever needing to use the jump button more then a few times so I don't know why that was being bragged about. just to get anything good I have to say about the game out of the way aside from the graphics I would have to say are some flashback scenes and that's it, the flashbacks were my favorite part of the whole game. the reason I hate this game and I'm going to try my best not to spoil even though people should know by now our characters just not themselves. I don't care if a character is lesbian trans blah blah all I care about is a good story and the message you're trying to deliver. Characters from the first game I feel like completely just forget what they stood for and how they acted, like some characters are super paranoid and cautious are just stupid and welcoming to anyone giving out their name and location it just seems out of character. Despite the trailers lying about certain things none of the new characters seem particularly interesting to me I honestly tried giving them a chance and I tried to see it from the other characters perspective and I just couldn't relate, I couldn't defend all the bad crap they were doing. giving me control to do bad things didn't make me feel good either. honestly the ending killed it for me as well the whole story is about getting something and not getting it basically what lesson is there to learn? I just feel like there wasn't much love put into this one as the last one and I was reading both negative and positive reviews and like I said yes both sides can bomb and exaggerated but I think all the people that genuinely truly loved the first game or enjoyed it would have a problem with this one. There is no defending it all the way this game has problems I could even go as far as to say it's a 6 out of 10 but anyone giving this game a 10 out of 10 and even a 9 out of 10 is out of their mind if you think this game holds a candle to the first game to God of war 4 and Zero Dawn and other great games there are other plenty better games than this one that deserve a 10 out of 10 and most likely don't have it. I wish we lived in a world where people were blinded by greed and stupidity and just admit things so that we can have a better experience for future things to come.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Getting this out of the way quickly: This game isn't as good as the first one. It's almost impossible to live up to the standard of the first one, simply because of one thing: expectations. The first game came out to almost no fanfare, mainly because it was a brand new IP in a genre that had started to wear out its welcome (zombie apocalypse survival), and became a smash hit, primarily because of the emotionally resonant story. This game had expectations on it as soon as it was revealed, so it was almost impossible to please everybody with this.

    That being said... here's what I liked and disliked about it:

    Pros:
    1) Gameplay is still solid
    - While most of the mechanics are the same as the first one (no complaints there), there are some new additions that keep things fresh and interesting, such as swimming, dodging, rope mechanics, dogs that can sniff out your position, new types of infected, crawling, silencers on pistols, and more.

    2) Visually stunning
    - This one is pretty obvious. Even the negative reviews of the game acknowledge this.

    3) Acting is top-notch
    - You won't find much better acting performances in any video game ever, especially the leads (Joel, Ellie, and Abby). Even the seemingly-minor characters are performed well.

    4) Narrative risk-taking that paid off
    -This is where things might get controversial. Naughty Dog took some huge risks in this game, and the fallout from these risks is readily apparent (Joel dying early on, and playing as Joel's murderer for most of the second half of the game, is what most of the negative gripes on the game are). However, I personally think they worked: while playing as Abby was a little frustrating at first, you begin to realize that there is more than one perspective in this apocalyptic universe... everybody is the hero of their own story. Because we were only exposed to Joel and Ellie's point of view in the first game, it is easy to say that they're the good guys. However, looking at the first game's ending from an outsider's view (someone that isn't emotionally involved in Joel and Ellie's story), you see a man who took away the chance at a potentially life-changing cure because he wanted to save a little girl, killing everyone he ran into along the way. Once you see it that way, it's hard to think of Joel as a hero. Even Ellie seems to think Joel did the wrong thing. Playing as Abby basically forces the player to humanize with the "enemy," making us empathize with all of the people that we spent the first half of the game brutally murdering. Once you get into Abby's story a bit, things turn around, and honestly the game picks up quite a bit in terms of set pieces and exciting encounters. Games like this take the choice out of the player's hands and force them to live with the choices these players make, and if one can shun their hate for just a moment and try to relate to these characters, the result is pretty rewarding. Plus, most of the fun stuff (gameplay-wise) happens in Abby's story, if you can make it there.

    5) Story as a whole is resonant
    -I personally don't think the story is as bad as people say. Even though I was exposed to the leaks before playing, I tried not to let those things ruin it for me. I'll say this: context matters a lot in films and video games alike. Just reading out the plot points will make almost every story seem boring and poorly-written. In this case, the story unfolds naturally, and if you let it, it all makes sense and doesn't feel ham-fisted into the narrative in order to make something happen. While the brutal violence didn't make me question my actions like a lot of reviewers say, the idea that the cycle of revenge isn't good for anyone was a good lesson to end on.

    Cons:
    1) The ending
    -I didn't hate what the ending was going for... I just feel that the way they executed it was sloppy. I can kind of forgive Abby not killing Ellie and Dina in the theater (Lev was there and convinced her it not to do it, but it still feels wrong), it was a little harder to forgive Ellie not killing Abby at the end. At first, she seemed content with letting her go as they walked to the boats, then she suddenly wants to kill her, and then... she doesn't? I get that change of heart happens, but three times in the span of a couple minutes? They could have executed it a lot better.

    2) Game doesn't get truly exciting until the second half
    - I didn't hate the set pieces and the encounters in the first half as Ellie, but... it all felt the same as the first game. As much as I loved the first game, I want things to feel a LITTLE different... it got stale fast. Sadly, you have to get past the Abby vitriol in order for the game to get truly fresh and exciting.

    3) Some of the characters sucked
    -Although the main characters are great, some of the side characters are just... there. Characters like Jesse and Dina and don't really have visible personalities, they just exist, making it hard to really care about them.    … Expand

    Graphically, the game is one of the best things i've ever seen. Sound design is top notch. The voice acting and animation, top notch.

    Gameplay wise it was a vast improvement over the first one. movement was smoother, combat was visceral. It was fun to sneak around, or just start tossing everything when things got crazy. I loved finding the notes and listening to your companions which fleshed out the story and characters even more.

    I did have issues with the pacing at times but overall it kept me wanting to keep playing, just to see what happens next.

    I will say this, while I did play the Last of Us 1, i don't have the same attachment to the characters that i know some people, including my friends had. I had no "headcanon" of what I wanted out of the story for part 2 and was just excited to experience the story that the developers wanted to tell. I understand that this story, is not going to be popular with everyone, Some may even hate it, and that is fine. Everything I wrote is my personal opinion.    … Expand

    For me this game is something Special. It tried to pull a stunt not many games would be willing to pull.
    It took the heroes and beloved Characters and made them human, made them flawed. the story wasnt perfect and it wasnt bad it was just that a story that wanted to be told and it was told through amazing gameplay and mediocre to good cutscenes i enjoyed my time and will ahve a second go

    It’s not just the Joel death for me, I think most people expected him to die in the second game but I think they executed it poorly.

    I thought the newer characters were pretty eh, I kinda felt like Dina and Ellie's relationship was pretty cringy (nothing to do with them being a same-sex couple) I just didn't feel the connection between them, it kinda felt forced. I liked Jesse, I thought he had potential to grow as a character, but they killed him in the most crappy shock value way.

    But I think the biggest issue with this game is the sloppy organization of how you see events take place.

    Also the ending felt extremely dragged on, I felt like the game had plenty of time to show that Ellie learned that revenge is bad, and they could have just ended it with her and Dina living on the farm, but they really wanted to drive home the point that revenge is bad, so Ellie has to go try to kill Abby. Which if you're gonna go with that then you really need to go through with it. Have Ellie kill Abby, and lose everyone in the process, but instead she lets her live, and loses everyone in the process anyways. Otherwise, if they wanted to keep Abby alive, they could have ended the game on the farm with Ellie realizing that revenge isn't a good path.

    Overall I’d rate The Last of Us 2 a 4 out of 10 but I definitely think it had the potential to be an 8 out of 10.    … Expand

    Utterly incredible, a rare masterpiece to round off the generation. The story is gritty, neatly paced and gut wrenching. Every step of the journey is tense and uncertain. Each combat scenario can be approached in a dozen ways, while the graphics and controls have been refined to perfection. The PS4 has not seen such a cinematic experience since God of War.

TLDR: Gameplay is fun, it's the last of us but better, story is hot garbage, nihilistic, full of cliches and "how convenient" moments. 4/10, gave it a 0 because of the positive review bombing it's getting. Game is not a 10, but that's all of the positive reviews. if you want a longer more thought out explanation of my thoughts, watch upper echelon gamings review on this, matches me pretty well, can't link apparently.

    For hardcore fans of the first game, do yourself a favor and give this a pass. I played through the first "the last of us" 4 or 5 times over the years and have no intention of going back to this one. I'll make a list of pros and cons but in short, gameplay is fun as ever, expanded stealth mechanics and melee made the game much more engaging and fun. That being said, the plot was some of the most contrived cliche horse dung I've had the displeasure of playing, and that's saying something considering the first game had it's fair share of unbelievable moments. And this isn't me griping about X or Y character died, or didn't die etc, I actually wound up liking the ending more than I thought I was going to half way through the game, but the story was just tiring by the end of it, and i just wanted it to be over. Literally I took a two day break from playing and forced myself to finish it, just so I got to experience how it ended rather than read it. They GoT season 8'd this one.

    Pros:
    Stealth is much more engaging, being able to go prone and hide in grass, crawl under obstacles was a welcome change.

    Some added mechanics made gun fights and running from enemies more entertaining like squeezing through cracks in the walls. (though some seem like they could have just been cut. The removing the arrow thing they showed off in trailers? I actually had to do this a whopping 3 times the whole game) Some weapons get new ammo types, you can make a suppressor for your pistol etc.

    The game is gorgeous as expected, creeping through dark infested areas were as tense as ever, and getting a good view of an area is awesome.

    Added some new enemies, good and bad, stealth infected, heavy melee wielding humans, and they all feel mostly organic ( i like that they call out a name if someone dies or they find a body, but how many Amir's and Skylar's can there really be?)

    Cons:
    (first off spoilers) Story is the big one here. Characters do things that just do not make sense, even for naughty dog touting that they want to make characters act like people and not characters( maybe it wasn't naughty dog that said this but still) People just happen to be the perfect place, some fights make no sense at all, when abby has to fight ellie, the fact she doesn't get obliterated by the girl who still has all her weapons on her, and is known for traps and stealth is astounding. Truly. Tommy is shot in the head but alive?? Looks like they were going for "oh it went out his eye" Yeah and Jesse got blasted in the eye and he's toasted. Nonsense.

    End Spoilers

    Enemies: while some of the new ones are refreshing, some of them just get tiring, the big heavy melee guys I mentioned, should not be able to take multiple shots to the chest from a hunting rifle, just because they're big. You've got a punctured lung, shot in the gut, a bullet lodged in your sternum, plus a few more holes that missed vitals, but that's still a lot of blood. You're not infected, so you're not superman, just go down my man.

    Marketing, which I can only describe as deceitful, I'll try to avoid spoilers, and this kind of ties back to the story. A big character is dead, early on, but they released trailers, one in particular where they are clearly alive, and with ellie after she sets off. But, when you get to that moment, they just swapped them for a different character. I get trying to avoid reveals in trailers, but that's nothing but trying to deceive and build hype for the game. Additionally, I had no idea there would be a character swap in this game, never had I seen any indication of this. And besides that, it's like they went out of their way to make this other character dislikable, but still force you to see their part implying "see? They have struggles too, they have people they love too, they're the same!" Or some **** and to that I say F**k off. The first scenes of the game make it clear how that character will behave, and we're supposed to feel sorry for them or something? Give me a break. This isn't game of thrones, and even if it was, did anyone feel sorry for Cersei?

    Flashbacks: Oh my lord, not much to say here other than please, for the love of god, stop with the flashbacks. I would have enjoyed this game a lot more, if they had just told the story in order. And that would have reframed a lot of the conflict of the game rather than just be told later "oh see this? They were a kid too!" No **** naughty dog.

    The last of us 2 is the combination of love, thriller and violence. The game does it works to make you connect to the game at any part of it. Visual and environment are really good make you feel a apocalyptic world, it brings the best out of the game. Gameplay is quite so not satisfying as many and myself was having difficult to adapt the movement of Elie. Firstly the death of joel discouraged many players as we have been very connected to joel from last of us part 1 and really wanted to see the joel's fatherhood towards Elie. After the death of joel the game just remain as quest of Elie killing everyone involved in Joel's murder one and another. Secondly the switch to Abby’s perspective doesn’t just grind the narrative to a halt, it also dampens the gameplay experience. So our ratings to visual and gamplay is 9/10, whereas the story only gets 7/10.

I think the first The Last of Us is the best game of all time and this screwed everything up! The director should be ashamed of making such a bad story. It does not make sense at all. You have to play with the person who killed your hero and have to defeat the game's protagonist. It does not even let you choose. I let Abby die for Ellie, because there is no sense defeating the protagonist, but the game just did not allowed! Besides that, Ellie just take wrong decisions and let the map saying exactly where they are. And after Ellie killed everyone Abby loved, she just say "Do not come after me anymore".
    I am so frustrated and disappointed with the poor story and I would not play a The Last of Us III.    … Expand

    Its a bit too long and that's its major flaw. It looks spectacular, in my opinion the motion capture and acting are the best in the business and level design is goddamn good. The gunplay is very satisfying and feels great.
    The story i don't agree with but i respect the balls to do it. I really do. I feel so bad for Joel and i cried my ass out at the last scene in the game. It hit me right in the feels and will always be in my memory as one of the saddest games i have played.
    Overall, not perfect but its different and good. And to all the people giving it a 0/10 because there are gay characters or whatever, grow tf up.    … Expand

I went into this game thinking it was not gonna be good because of what people were saying during pre-release and after the first week of release but I still decided to give it a chance...I felt that after what they did in the first one they deserved at least that much. And let me tell you I was not disappointed, sure I was sad watching my favorite character from the original game die right at the beginning but the story that followed even though not as good as the first one was still a very entertaining although brutal experience. And the whole experience playing as Abby worked for me, even though I wanted her and all of her group dead because of what they did I couldn't help but start to like her and Owen by the end of her side of the story. And when it came down to the final fight all the motivation I had to kill her was gone, after what they had gone through I just felt that there was nothing to gain but still a lot to lose from any of them dying. I don't think it's a bad story but it sure as hell is a sad one especially for Ellie and Tommy who basically are left alone and "broken" in the end. But like I said it is not a bad story at all if you are willing to think about everything that happens and not just what happens in THAT cutscene. In terms of gameplay it improved from the first game even though the shooting still isn't my favorite. I won't say that the people who didn't like the story are wrong because everybody has different tastes but saying it's complete garbage after playing like an hour of it is just wrong and unfair for the people that worked on this game for years. For me this is a must buy just like the first and I hope they make a third.… Expand

Temos várias armas brancas e cada uma tem execuções brutais que podem até assustar de vez em quando. Temos cenas que parecem improvisações que acontecem em filmes, como quando você toma dano, e cai, mas mesmo assim consegue atirar, quando os caras te puxam embaixo do carro, te jogam longe e tals.
    História: inicialmente parece uma coisa clichê e simples, mas o desenrolar dela é muito bem feito e todos os personagens são complexos. Tenho que admitir que depois de muito tempo jogando seguido eu parei de achar as coisas tensas, mas quando dei uma pausa e voltei depois, comecei a sentir o quão tenso é a história de novo, e no final fiquei até tremendo.

    As lutas contra os infectados continuam boas e tem uns 3 novos tipos deles, e como no primeiro jogo, o level design das fases são muito bem escritos pra te fuder o máximo possível.    … Expand

    For the courage to tell the story this way, my hat is off... There is really nothing more to say, you can either hate or love it. I feel people who hate on the game are hating it for the wrong reasons... I may not agree with some story choices but that does not discredit all the levels Naughty Dog pushed with this game.
