This game was simply underestimated, but I agree that Abby is really a boring character, and we play too much for her, but still I have never been so influenced by the game, I was even sad about the ending for about a week

worse than the first part of course, but overall a good game.
The plot could be made better, the characters need to be revealed more. Very similar to the AMC series The Walking Dead
My rating is 8 out of 10. I hope in the third part the developers will take into account the wishes of the players and draw the right conclusions!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The biggest theme in TLOUII isn’t revenge. It’s not hatred. It’s not loss, or grief, or anger, or any of things it looks to be at first glance. These things still obviously play a huge part in the story; they contribute to the characters’ actions and decisions, and they’re the things that drive the narrative. But they’re not the most important themes for the player.

The most important theme in this game, that I have seen no other game explore in this detail, is perspective. And players who are open-minded and don’t allow themselves to be blinded by their own outlook, will appreciate the game for what it is.

Without perspective, the game is over 2 hours in. You know from the point of Joel’s death where the rest of the story is going, and you know how it ends. You’ll guide Ellie through her revenge mission, and you’ll make Abby pay. Because it’s a video game and that’s how video games work. But TLOUII isn’t any other video game.

You’re proven wrong, time and time again, thinking you’re reaching the end, only to first be given the unexpected second half of the game to play, and then another additional 2 hours on top of that the second time it appears to be coming to a close.

That middle point, where the perspective changes and we start to see things through Abby’s eyes, is uncomfortable. As a player, it was easy to recognise Naughty Dog’s intentions to paint the “villain” in a different light. The goal was to have us eventually empathise with a character who, not 2 hours into the game, had killed a protagonist that we’ve known and loved for seven years. And as a player, I was sceptical it was going to work.

As I did indeed grow to care for Abby, I felt a conflict within myself as I wrestled with what it meant. What did it mean that I was starting to like a character who had done such a horrific thing? It meant that Naughty Dog had accomplished what I can assume was what they intended to do: force me, as a player, to recognise how important perspective is and understand things from both sides.

Was Abby killing Joel any more horrific that Joel killing Jerry? And not to mention, Jerry was killed in the process of Joel committing arguably the most horrific action of The Last Of Us’ story: depriving humanity of a cure. And I like Joel just fine.

To Abby, Joel was the “bad guy” and her reasoning for believing so is the exact same reasoning that Ellie’s perspective brands Abby the “bad guy”. Neither character is “right” while the other is “wrong” and Naughty Dog did an absolutely phenomenal job of blurring that line, leading to my use of quotation marks; who’s “good” and who’s “bad” all depends on perspective.

It was a risky move to place the player in control of someone they’re conditioned to hate from the near outset, and to expect them to come to understand her reasoning and empathise with her, and I can assume that this is the main reason a lot of players have found issue in the game, because for them it didn’t work. But for me personally, it was a powerful experience and I knew that the conflict I felt within myself as Abby grew to become my favourite character in the whole game, was intentional on Naughty Dog’s end.

As far as the ending goes, I’ve seen a lot of people claim that the whole game was “for nothing”, but I think that these are the players who refused to budge on their own perspectives. They’d branded Abby the “villain” from the start and so she was supposed to die. They didn’t get their closure. But Ellie did. Abby did.

That last flashback we get that covers Ellie and Joel’s last conversation is what prompts Ellie to let Abby go. Joel tells her that given the chance to deny humanity a cure again, he’d make the same choice. Ellie remarks that in her sacrifice, her life would’ve had meaning, and that she can’t ever forgive Joel for taking that from her. But that she’d like to try. This opportunity, to grow and find it within herself to forgive Joel, was taken from her when Abby took his life. But if Ellie wants to find it in herself to forgive Joel for doing arguably the worst thing a human being could’ve possibly done, maybe she can find it in herself to forgive the woman who killed him.

In Ellie’s eyes, Joel’s death is given meaning in her decision to be better than him. Joel may make the same decision over and over given the chance, depriving Ellie the opportunity to have her life harbour meaning, but Ellie won’t. She has one chance, and she won’t make the same choice he did. She won’t remove the meaning from Joel’s death, the way Joel removed the meaning from her life.

The whole sequence, the fight, the flashback, and Ellie’s decision to let Abby go was another phenomenal choice that Naughty Dog made in subverting expectations. We’ve all played video games before and we know how they go. but, like I said, TLOUII isn’t any other video game.

The graphics, visual are amazing and the game play is good. The story is a bit all over the place with Abby story after Ellie. I think it would of worked better if they worked along side each other, building up to the fight in the aquarium, but that's just my opinion. I would of also liked Joel in the game more with flash backs or to spend more time with him.

The only reason I give this game any sort of rating is because I can see the effort put into the gameplay side of things. But nothing can make this game good because of how bad the story and characters are. Don't even start me on the Joel situation.
Whoever thought let's kill Joel with a female bodybuilder and play as her for half of the game is beyond me. Did you actually think we would bond with this person? The whole time I played as Abby all I could think was I can't wait to see Elle kill you. And did it happen... did it f***. And in the end it was all for nothing..... Well done

The story is perfectly driven, regardless if you like it or dislike it or don't like how it ends and is also by far, the most immersive of any actual game.

But in the case you're not ok with the story, you must be a complete troll or hater to give this game a score below 7, because there's no possible discussion this game is absolutely astonishing in all the other areas.

So just applying common sense, if you have a game with a 10 in 3 of 4 areas, even if the story for you score zero, the average will be 7,5.

Having say that, people given this game scores from zeros to fours are complete nonsense.

But you would have to pay me to play this game again, and that would be a maybe. What they did with the story and how they just bent their knee to the SJWs is just absolutely pitiful. Along with the false advertising, making it seem like Joel was going to be in it more mainly, you just offed him, literary spat on his body, and made us play as his killer. I do not care about Abby, I didn't want to play as them at all after that. You tried to make them look pathetic but you utterly failed at it. And then the ending, I don't think I have to even bring that up because I want to just forget this game. Waste of my money and time. While there are shining moments, that usual Last Of Us quality, the overall story and the arc will quickly drop you off, never to pick you up again. It gives you just enough to keep playing, only to result in a journey you wish you never took. Naughty Dog finally dropped the ball. Despite being very solid game in its technology-side, the story should've been the biggest catch especially after Part 1. This game is getting hate in the wrong way like people are homophobic or transphobic and also people just hate the game because a main character is dead that is for some a reason a "hero" even though joel isn't a hero he's just a character that is very well developed that makes us like him but as for his selfish choices he saved ellie but then killed a lot of other people that have done a virus so that doesn't make him hero, now for the gameplay and the story ok so for the gameplay the stealth has really improved and sound effects and the graphics have improved and i'm very happy about that that means they have works a lot obn this game also sthe combat areas make you feel that you are in a city and not in a combat just made to be there and also the combat in there is even scarier than in uncharted 4 the gameplay srsly improved from uncharted 4 it is even bettter than uncharted 4 ok now lets talk about the story so we have ellie, dina, jesse, abby, etc...

Ever since before the end credits, The Last Of Us already become my favorite videogame ever. Never I loved a game so much, never felt so close to such intimate characters, trapped by its atmosphere. I wanted to love Part II even more, (and I did with absolute passion) and struggled to keep that feeling until it was impossible.

I have been maturing my opinion on the game for days and like many others I have never decided to write a review on this website until now.

I don't write this to give myself credibility but because apparently nowdays the only authority to opine on a videogame is held by videogame websites, whose only reason to exist is to help selling videogames. According to those media, opinion of real players is pure review-bombing without any value, as they have been unanimously sentencing for weeks all over the internet.

I would like to write in detail about my impressions of the game, but I feel disappointed and emotionally dejected to do that tour again even in my memory.

Furthermore, there is little that has not already been said about the impeccable and unparaleled tecnical work and inmersion feeling Naughty Dog has achieved in this game.

Sadly there is a point when a studio forgets for whom they make videogames and start to be more interested in doing something paradigmatic for the critics, something that nobody dared before, rather than making an actual good videogame for the players. They abandoned the philosophy that made them great, poisoned with ambition.

"This is for the players" says Sony. Well, it looks like this is more for themselves, for Naugty Dog to become industry-revolutionary at any cost. It's impossible that most of the players enjoyed this game.

Is the result of a Neil Druckmann drunk with success from the masterpiece he created 7 years ago. His ego now out of any prudence that contained it, and allowed him to make a game with his audience in mind. His glory became more important than his characters who are mistreated in a cruel, unfair and cheap way to achieve no effect on the player other than depression and hate. A hatred feeling he immediately makes sure of making you feel guilty about. That intention is very obvious to the spectator from the very first moment due to the very obvious, easy and little elaborated narrative resources usted to that end.

Nor did George Martín, whom Neil seems to aspire to compare, dared to go that far with his main characters.

The team will indeed be remembered in videogame history for breaking the fourth wall in an innovative way. But that at the cost of emotionally harming the players, miserably mistreating perfect and beloved characters and destroying a masterpiece out of pure ambition.

I do not think it's dishonest to score so low even when the game is inpeccable in many tecnical aspects, in the same way that in an exam a single critical unacceptable error can invalidate many right answers. This way, my score is solely due to the sensations I experienced playing this game, a depression and disappointment which last even today and that no game ever caused me.

Whats expected from a seven year hiatus:

    -Character introductions/reintroduction 7.5/10 (It's a SEQUEL)
-Character development 9/10 (Its the novelty of the Last Of Us)
-Plot 10/10 (Its a SEQUEL in a supposed trilogy ["hoping for more than 3"])
-Story-telling 10/10 (People will say that some sequences were too long, I have an idea of where subsequent installments might be going, so the drudgery of these long sequences need to and had to establish motif)
-Game mechanics 100/100 The narration of the story dictates the mechanics i.e. the pacing, level design, enemy lay out (they even have Encounters Mode), difficulty controls (how the hell did that get a 4.3/10), interface/character skills and progression is bare, sub-par (Last Of Us novelty, beautiful), all around immersion. Audiences would express an indifference in the narration, especially the flash back and memory sequences, as it may seem like its disconnected and fractured, but it portrays what the characters are going through, to drive their motivations. It's the same portrayal that fan-fare demands in resemblance in video gaming services that might have, in fact, directed the production of this game. But the Last Of Us Part II establishes its own motives that even Naughty Dog won't/can't claim as a motif, as reception of this story driven piece was naturally going to cause a rift in the narratives that would accompany game scores.
-Cult tropes 5/10 (I get it, whatever)
-Trailers 3/10 (But I get the whole fiasco of it)
    -Spoiler culture 1/10
    -"Golf" scene 0/10
    -Conclusion (of a SEQUEL) 10/10
----Character choices 8/10 (tropes in functionality)

After playing Last Of Us Part II 100/100 (For a SEQUEL, its the best made)
But as much as I love video games, I'm more a casual gamer:

Despite all the hate and negative feedback that the game has received, I actually think The Last of Us Part 2 has a strong story. Not necessarily narrated in a way I wanted it to be, but nonetheless a strong story. I would have hoped for a happier ending or at least one less sad, but honestly it fits the overall dark context.
I also get the idea behind the being Abbey part but I believe
Despite all the hate and negative feedback that the game has received, I actually think The Last of Us Part 2 has a strong story. Not necessarily narrated in a way I wanted it to be, but nonetheless a strong story. I would have hoped for a happier ending or at least one less sad, but honestly it fits the overall dark context.
I also get the idea behind the being Abbey part but I believe this could have been better scripted; possibly by putting her story at the beginning of the game. It took me actually quite a while to accept her character emotionally after what she had done to Joel. The part I liked the least were the Ellie flashbacks particularly the one in the dinosaur museum. These were just boring and really interrupted the flow of the game negatively. Also the scavenger hunting was a bit too much for my taste.

Is it a great game? Technically definitely a masterpiece with a strong but extremely grim story that leaves you with a sad feeling at the end of the game. While this is not necessarily what I look for in a computer game, I (artistically) accept it as it is. Where the game fell short for me was the storytelling as it could have been much better executed. I also would have preferred more combat and less scavenger hunts.
But overall still one of the best games I have played and I definitely do not regret buying or playing it. Let's hope that some of the loose ends will be picked up in Part 3.

    What I liked:
Graphics: For me visually the best PS4 game so far. Whether it is the environment, the characters, or the cut scenes, everything looks just breathtaking. I have never seen such an amount of detail in a PS4 game. Everything moves and looks so realistically. (10 out of 10)

Audio: The sound of the game is spectacular and the voice acting top notch. I think Naughty Dog could have used a bit more background music, but definitely some of the best audio in a video game (9 out of 10)

Performance: I have never seen a game that looks and sounds so great and yet has zero performance issues. In my 30+ hours of play-through I cannot remember a single moment where the game was stuck, had a visual frame rate drop, or other performance issues. For the level of detail and motion in the environment as well as characters an absolutely outstanding achievement. (10 out of 10)

Controls: More or less the same controls as the original Last of Us which are very intuitive, easy to master and fun. Nothing to complain about here (10 out of 10)

    What I did not like:
Gameplay: Nearly the same gameplay as the original Last Of Us with some slight improvements which I liked. But in comparison to its predecessor there was less combat and more scavenger hunting which became often quite boring. While i focused for the most part of the first half of the game on finding all secrets, I stopped half-way through and just focused on finishing the story. (5 out of 10)

Replayability: I am currently not inclined to play it a second time but may eventually do so to get the Platinum trophy. I like the fact that the game offers the possibility to restart with all your achieved skills and collected weapons from the first play-through. (6 out of 10)

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

Expand

I’ve never actually felt the need or ever wanted to write a review for a game before.. but after finishing the last of us part II last night I felt a sad sense of relief and emptiness. I want to start off by saying everyone has there own opinions and rightfully so. Love the game or hate the game it’s just nice to have passion about something.

I started this game off already seeing very many leaks that I did not really try to avoid because I’m weak! I had a very negative mind set after see the leaks and was praying what I saw wasn’t real. Going into the game I tried to prepare myself hoping I can find some enjoyment, then it happened... the part everyone is so broken up about! I was pissed and felt betrayed by the company I have grown to love so much. But I trudged on hoping for some sort of real meaningful reason for this decision. I had many highs and lows playing as Ellie, from the many gorgeous sceneries of Seattle to some of the scarier parts like dealing with the scars. The game is beautiful and a lot of passion was put into its world. The soundtrack pulled everything together wonderfully and Ashley had some amazing moments singing and playing the guitar. Everything lead up to a moment where I thought I’d finally come around and it would all makes sense in the end. But it didn’t.. very quickly you are thrown in and force to try and side with Abby (which I really was not about in the beginning). Her story is one of many I’m sure in the world of the last of us that have very bad things happen, I mean it is a post apocalyptic world and nothing is ever going to go as we want it. It was interesting and at times fun and very scary to see the way her story played out. But there was one thing that really stuck in my mind as my time went on with Abby. It was that this game didn’t feel like the last of us anymore. It felt so much like a stand alone game like uncharted lost legacy. It was nice but I bought the last of us to play the last of us.. through all my time I was really just trying to get back to the moment we were all waiting for. I did come around to Abby eventually more so just kind of understanding that she just like everyone else has there reasons for doing things. But I wanted to get back to playing the game I bought. Finally I get back to the moment I was waiting for hoping for a meaningful and satisfying conclusion to what both of these character have been working towards for 20+ hours. But that did not happen, instead we got a very out of character and misleading End. So we thought..

As this point in the game I’m frustrated and confused but still trying to understand where there going with the game. We see things left off on a higher note with Ellie and Dina on a beautiful farm. But it was very short lived.. out of character and misleading again.. we are yet again sent on our mission to continue what we started this journey to do. Somewhat saddened that we left what would have been a good ending and a “somewhat” satisfying conclusion to this story, I set off to finish what was intended of this game. Finally coming to a conclusion after 25 hours of play time we were mislead once again in thinking we might have some sort of relief.. but once nothing happened and you’re left with the question of why?? Why did I did all of this? What was the point of it? I’ve been trying to figure out what the point of it all was but still feel that there was no rewarding aspect. No actual conclusion. The last scene of the game left me saddened. I don’t feel that there was any care or respect put towards these characters.. I felt cheated and felt that naughty dog through Ellie and Joel in the mud. FOR WHAT?? I don’t believe that every game needs a sequel and I feel this is proof of that.. This next part is going to sound really stupid and I’m sure I’ll get a lot of **** for it.. this may not make sense but the game is a disastrous master piece.. it’s very beautiful and made me feel a lot of things most games don’t make you feel. It will definitely stay in my mind for a long time But it issues are so huge that it hurts it. In other words the best parts of the game are so amazing there masterful but the worst part feel so so low..

Why xxxx Abby free Ellie but killed her friends especially Jesse?

Why xxxx Abby betrayed her friends and whole organization?

Why xxxx Abby can forgive Ellie and fight for the kids in opposite org but killed Joel?

Why xxxx Ellie can forgive Abby in the middle of a death of life dogfight?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’m not even going to lie, after finishing this game I absolutely hated it. I hated how they killed Joel, Jesse, and even let Abby escape. But after sitting on the ending for about a week, I started to understand more about some of the decisions. However, it would be foolish to say that everyone is going to love this game. Even people who loved the first game like me might despise this game. I’m going to go through some initial thoughts about major story beats, both of how I felt as it happened and after thought.

First, I want to go through my initial thoughts of two things. The death of beloved Joel. At first I was in major disbelief of how they had done it, angered to the point where I didn’t play it for the rest of the day. And with the ending, I was so confused of how it went. Abby... got away? Why? Why did she let her just go after seeing Joel? Wouldn’t that anger her even more?

After I finished the game, I thought about it for about a week. And the more I thought about it, the more I loved it. First, Joel’s death. Through playing as Abby, I was able to understand her humanity, saving Lev and restoring her humanity through him. Like Joel, she learns to love Lev like a brother and cares for him. She even seemed like Ellie in many parts, with her humor and overall attitude. And the ending. I’m not completely clear on it, but here’s what I believe. I think that Ellie saw the huge mistake of killing Joel. But, she sees the vision of Joel on the porch, where she told him that she wants to try to forgive him. Perhaps she wanted to forgive Abby for what she had done like she was going to do with Joel. She was able to see a good side of Abby through Lev, and decided to let her go. And maybe she knew that is she were to kill Abby, Lev would get into the same situation as Ellie was in with Joel. So she decided to end the cycle of violence and take the pain. And by leaving Joel’s guitar and her paintings, she’s deciding to leave what she knows to become a better person for Dina and JJ.

But even disregarding that, the gameplay of this game is masterclass. I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s so smooth that it almost seems real. The acting is even better, with performances from Ashley Johnson and Shannon Woodward. Both heartbreaking and heartwarming at times, both are some of the best I’ve seen in a long time.

In conclusion, this game is one that isn’t just going to seem fun all the time or just be surface fun like the Uncharted games (not saying there’s anything wrong with that, I love the Uncharted series) but it’s a game that might disgust you, even anger you at times. But after thinking about a lot of things, it feels like one of the most unforgettable experiences you’ll go through. It’s my GOTY.

I understand why people didn't like this game. This is not the story I wanted, this is horrible and painful, but so is life, and i'm grateful because I am being treated as a human being and not as a consumist who gets everything what they want. Naughty dog wanted to tell a story, the did it and I lived it. Not the story I wanted, but the story I got, and it's brilliant.

Me arrepiento de haber comprado el juego porque no tiene una historia consistente, un desarrollo muy pobre de los personajes y un final desepcionante

Truly a step forward for gaming. The story might annoy some people but mechanically it surpasses the original in every way.

The pinnacle of storytelling through gaming. The attention to detail is the un matched . The game wonderfully balances action set pieces with calm characters building moments. Great gameplay. A sample of next gen graphics, on a current gen system. Only flaw is the pacing of the story could have been better, it does drag at some moments with excellent set pieces scattered throughout.

I've been waiting for this game for a good while, like most fans of the series, but after seeing all these negative user reviews, I have to wonder how many "fans" actually played the first game. Did they not understand the gravity of the story and how it ended?

I remember feeling an insane weight from the impact of the original game, and after my first few hours of playing the long-awaited sequel, I was torn apart emotionally. Every beat in the story, right from the get-go, is rather painful from an empathetic point of view. I felt every emotion, every action that carried echoes of past trauma... I just can't understand why people who claimed to enjoy the heart-wrenching storyline of the first game suddenly expected the sequel to be a light-hearted romp that held their hand with easy to process views like "good guys good, bad guys bad, zombies scary but it's all gonna be ok."

Even the harshest reviewers seem to give credit where it's obviously due, so I'll start with the easy part: The graphics are truly amazing and the atmosphere and environments are riveting. The world is so large, and the cinematic cohesion between gameplay and cutscene takes you out of the feeling of playing a game and puts you in the mindset of losing yourself inside another world. The thing is, it's a scary world, and the most terrifying thing about it is the realism. The constant hunt for ammo and supplies keeps you on your toes, making every fight feel like life or death, as it should. The sound design is spectacular and disgusting. Every wail and click from the undead sounds like the most pained and godless noise a human body could make, while the meaty crunches of humans being shot, exploded, or maimed to death really hit you with the impact of a life being ended violently. The bits of lore spread throughout the environment in the form of handwritten letters, graffiti, and NPC dialogue really draws you in, and you start to realize... this world is so believable because it's barren hellscape is so familiar to our own.

Disease, prejudice, hatred, revenge, forgiveness, justice... all the themes imbedded in this game mirror our current reality in a way that is frightening, and may be too much for some players looking for an escape into fantasy, but I found it's ability to challenge the player's viewpoints of right and wrong were incredibly bold and aren't utilized in storytelling too frequently because of the risk of upsetting people.

I decided to write a spoiler-free review, because I feel like most of the people who are being turned away from this game are being mislead. It's not an easy story to process, but the fact that so many people disagree with the choices made makes it feel like a real story, instead of a fan-fiction made to sell copies.

My biggest praise towards the game is the way the story develops characters to the point where they truly feel like real people. In reality, people make drastic choices when acting on emotions. In the first game, we see a man get a second chance at raising a daughter, slowly opening his apocalypse-stained heart back up to be able to feel unconditional love in a way he hasn't since his family was torn away from him. In the end, he has to make the choice to sacrifice her to save mankind... and he can't do it. He instead chooses to sacrifice mankind. He's strong enough to take on the whole world, but not strong enough to sacrifice the one who has become his whole world. This game immediately starts to show you the consequences of that choice.

The themes of this game really hit you with the fact that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. But, when feelings of love, vengeance, anger, and a self-righteous sense of justice are involved, a hundred reactions feel justified by one done against you. There are a handful of different factions in the game, and all of them believe they are fighting for what is right, and inside those factions are individuals with confused loyalties. When it's all broken down, you see that each character builds their own family, and will go against everything they know to protect them or avenge them.

If you play this game, at every twist and turn you will be faced with the crushing reality that every single person has incredible potential for good and evil, and it's all subjective. Everyone is on their own righteous quest, and is the hero of their own narrative.
All love will eventually be lost.
    All life will eventually die.
All morality will eventually be tested.
The Last Of Us explores not only the idea of what might happen to the last of mankind, but what might happen to the last of our humanity.

But it made me cry, so 0/10, me me want shoot bad guys

An incredibly bad part 2 which has nothing to do with the sexuality of characters etc. but just the storytelling in itself. Simply disappointing after a 7 year wait. It makes me angry that I was looking forward to it :(

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. With this game being Part 2 of the Last of Us franchise, it has truly brought the story to a beautiful end. The game is designed to make you think and feel emotions on both sides of the story. The game wants you to know that your actions have consequences. It truly does make you wander if revenge and the actions needed to exact it are truly worth the costs involved. Both Abby and Ellie were completely justified in what they did and this is often the most difficult idea to come to terms with because we ourselves want revenge for the loss of Joel but begin to realise that if the first game was from Abby's perspective, we would have felt the exact same way for her and the loss of her father by Joel's hands. This is top notch storytelling. There is also so much to explore and discover and be absolutely amazed by in this game. The world is immaculately designed and takes what we have loved from the first game and expands on it in ways that allow us to appreciate the world we have been thrown into and the work that went behind everything we get to experience. This includes the smooth combat mechanics and even something as simple as the collectibles layered throughout the game and weapon crafting. Altogether, the game offers a brilliantly constructed story that achieves what the developers set out to do and gameplay that revolutionises the idea of what you can do within a game. The game and the developers do not deserve the controversy they received, but rather deserve absolute praise for what they have achieved. Expand

The game is with very bad story. It forces you to play with character that you hate for the half of the game. Also I don't cared about almost every new character and played from start to final.Nothing make sense in the story and it's make only for gay and trans people not for the last of us 1 fans and it's made bad. They could make it good for all people but they made it bad for everyone

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The most I can give this game is a 4/10. The gameplay and graphics are phenomenal, possibly one of the best of all time (in my opinion), but the story in this game is very lacking and is what makes this game so unfavorable. A story game such as Telltales: The Walking Dead without a good story is like playing an FPS game without the actual "shooter" aspect. In my opinion, it would have been better if there just wasn't a part 2 at all. The main reason people love The Last Of Us so much is because of the relationship between Joel and Ellie. When everyone saw the trailers to The Last Of Us 2 we expected to be going on another journey with Joel and Ellie. Instead the game was ruined by killing Joel in the worst way possible by some new character named Abby and expected us to feel sympathy for her. Not to mention the game wants us to play as Abby for more than half of the game.
There are other problems with the game such as false marketing lies such as replacing Joel's character model in-game with Jesse's character model to trick us to think we would be playing with Joel in-game. There is also a problem such as the altering of Joel's character. Joel has 20 years of survival experience and that's what kept him alive. Then suddenly he just walks into a locked room with 10+ armed people he doesn't know and gets beat to death. Conclusion, the game to me was a disappointment and waiting 7 years for this was not worth it.

(now hopefully I'm not going to get dislike botted by people working for naughty dog or game journos.)

This game is absolutely a [bad game]. Don’t listen to all the [fanboys] jumping on the bandwagon that are [loving] it to just [love] it. Now that reads exactly like the other negative reviews, but apparently such reviews are by bots and worthy of Metacritic deleting them. However, the initial positive review is allegedly legitimate, honest, and thought out. You decide what you think is accurate, but note the obvious slant in the game's coverage.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
