I wanted to come in and enjoy my time with Ellie and Joel, I wanted to experience the world after Joel doomed the human race by killing the surgeon and saving Ellie, making the hard choice that his own personal needs and desires were more important to him than the survival of humanity. I really wanted to experience that aftermath, to live in that moment and feel guilt for my actions in Part One.
    I didn't get to. I got to experience Joel act completely out of character and die because suddenly, out of nowhere, our hardened father figure is naive. I was forced to watch as the life drained from this monster of a man, and then go on a journey of revenge. At least I'd get my revenge.
    Nope, I murder my way through the liberation front for a chance to kill Abby, the woman who killed Joel, only to suddenly be forced to watch her walk away, because suddenly, and without any narrative reason, Ellie decided that killing was bad.

    The Bad: ruined the franchise, forces you to do real messed up stuff, then preaches how bad you are... this is 2020 enough problems in RL as it is no need to make our gaming world even worse...

    I feel bad for the crew that worked on this game. It must be terrible working on a thing for 7 years only for the writers to ruin everything with their horrible writing.
    Everybody did amazing, the acting, the music, the graphics of this game are spectacular, but It's all for nothing when Halley Gross and Neil Druckmann (especially him with his disgusting self-insert spitting on Joel) had    I feel bad for the crew that worked on this game.     Ive finished the game. The gameplay is largely the same, nothing special but thats not what were here for. The game has little to no soundtrack, and what little there is is just the same 3 notes ringing out for some weak attempt at intensity, creating an empty atmosphere.     This is game of thrones season 8 level trash writing. The first half of the game is largely a walking simulator with nonstop relationship drama. After some questionable story decisions It devolves into flashback inception, forcing you to play a new, boring character. With no spoilers, this character did something controversial, and then the game makes you play 8-10 hours of flashbacks within flashbacks AS them to try to make you like the character. There is no liking this person. It was ultimately just a side quest with more characters you dont care about. The game could have finished 3 hours in and the conclusion, the state of all the characters you care about, would be the same.

    A sad state for this franchise and even sadder for the critics. Honestly who **** knows how reviewers managed to give this above a 5, let alone Game of The Year scores...    … Expand

Terrible ending with no choice (this insane Ellie, which is driven by random flashbacks in her head). Zero meaning (casual - revenge is bad? seriously?), horribly story line, default trash gameplay, half of the game as Abby, which we don't give a **** about. Pointless and boring background characters. 0/10. The tech quality of the game is ok (graphics/animation - nice, but the same mega boring gameplay (WALKING, usual stealth and horrible fights), but it is overwhelmed by other things.

I strongly believe most of the positive reviews here and literally employees of the studio trying to stop this game from bombing. This game’s story **** on all the characters you know and attempts to make you care about new ones in a very forced way. As far as revenge stories go, this is definitely one of the worst.     Last of Us 1 is one of the greatest games I have ever played. Last of Us 2 is what Last Jedi is to Star Wars... a complete destruction of what came before it. I am disgusted to see such little regard for Naughty Dog’s fan base. I am confused by the waste of such potential. I am ashamed as of a fan of the industry.

    False advertising, they showed Joel in one scene in the trailer, making you think that he would come with Ellie on her journey. But in the actual game, it was another person who said the same line. Unnecessary violence just for shock value. TLOU2 is one of the most disgusting video game in history. Just save your money guys. Stay away.

They can be so ignorant and arrogant because of their previous successes, what exactly the players expected. But they were betrayed.

    But why is that a so successful studio receives only 3.4 user rating? It cannot be just because of some lesbian action, it is because they destroyed everything.

    Ask yourself the question: do you want to play this game because of Last Of Us or because you want to play the character Abby who destroyed everything you found dear in the Last Of Us?    … Expand

    You can have inclusion in games and movies, but it shouldnt be at the expense of the storytelling and already established characters. The atmosphere is honestly inconsistent in execution, things just seem to happen and you’re along for the subpar ride. Subpar ride because the writing is not good sometimes i would daresay rushed and unpolished to the point it broke immersion multiple times when characters do things that history shows they wouldn’t do thats a case of poor execution on a part of the developers. And the slow sections just seem to drag this game, length could’ve been chopped up and it wouldnt have ruined anything. The new and i say that loosely characters honestly dont really stand out and even with motives for some they are hard to empathize with or relate to and very much unlikeable. It is possible to relate but the writing is not strong enough to do it. Also DMCA-ing channels for having a different opinion or exercising their right as a fan to speak out is distasteful and doesnt help your purpose. Take some responsibility for you actions. This game gets a 4 from me because take away the story the gameplay is an 8 (the story is a 2). 8 divided by 2 is 4 it’s mediocre. Can it still be a success yes but lets not pretend there are already games coming up that will be better than this and less insulting/divisive how did this get such high ratings really gaming journalists have some standards and hold these studios accountable when they do slimey things. Shock value for the sake of shock value is lame and lazy, Game of Thrones tried it everyone loved it until they started killing off characters those same people who liked it cared about,plus the writing was inconsistent and all over as well lets be real. Funny enough though....The difference being what Daenerys did if you really think about it (take the angry sunglasses off) given the history and context (despite bad writing laced throughout the entire show) makes more sense than what Ellie does in the end, thats sad.     God that was awful. It just proves that graphics is not the only star in the production but the story have more weight to it especially if you pitch a game where the narrative and premise of the world is the anchor of your fandom. This was utterly disappointing and a waste of time.

This is the main reason why I give it this score, I was manipulated by being told by the developers that this game would be something that it is not. Here is the complete list of reasons why I gave it a score of 0:

    -> The game not being what ND marketed it as
    -> The story seems like a rushed out draft at best, not even making sense on some occasion
    -> There are many plot holes in the story
    -> Turning the characters we've become attached to in TLOU 1 into idiots
    -> The explicit intimate scenes (I don't want to watch sex while playing games, this was absolutely unnecessary)
    -> Unnecessary d r u g s use scenes
    -> The important amount of unnecessary swearing between Dina and Ellie (which takes Ellie's innocence away and make her lot less likable)
    -> The intense kissing scenes between Ellie and Dina (A game is not the place for that. And I would make the same argument if it was a man and a woman kissing, I just don't want to see that kind of stuff when I'm playing a game)
    -> The SJW Agenda

    I was so hyped for this game. For 7 years now I've been dreaming about the day this game would come out, I was so hyped and excited for it. ND and Neil Druckman have crushed this hype, and it seem to have been their objective all along, making us hate this game, hate this franchise and hate this company. Well done.

    TLOU1 was my favourite game ever. This "game" is an insult to the memory of the first game and is extremely poorly written. Decent enough gameplay but completely butchered by a shocking, nonsensical story riddled with plot holes. To say I was disappointed is a massive understatement.

    If you are a casual gamer that dont really care about TLOU franchise, you might like this game.

    If you are a fan of TLOU 1, you will absolutely hate this game. Just awful awful bad writing. Graphics and gameplay are good, but its all wasted. I feel so bad for spending money on this game. I am just going to pretend TLOU 2 never happened, and enjoy TLOU part 1 as a true masterpiece.

The last of us gradually developed a beautiful relationship between Joel and Ellie. Neither trusted quickly but eventually they completely relied on each other and Joel did everything to save Ellie.

    This game makes the first one meaningless. They never meet in "current time" before Joel dies and the revenge plot that the happens is petty and not even well written.

    Between Joel's death, Ellie not going through with killing Abbie and losing her fingers in the process (when Abbie bites them off), what is the point of this game. What is the message? You can't argue that the game's graphics are stunning, but all ND games are. It's expected. But graphics do not make a good game. On top of that, the game play hasn't progressed and felt old and clunky.

    Overall I was not impressed. maybe the game was hyped up too much and I expected more. Either way, I was left with a massive feeling of being let down.    … Expand

    ok so now i played it fully it has zero replay value and was a chore to play graphics were ok story was bad price was bad. i dont care if the char is lgbt i have played life is strange and loved it same for peoples origins the walking dead game loved that. all the hatred spewed out by sony and naughty dog towards gamers is horrific. maybe they should look at them selves and see whats wrong within!

    A terrible intro and ending that leaves a lot to be desired. No respect for beloved characters. Very little gameplay change. The game just tries to hard to make you feel a certain way and support characters that you don’t care about. Overall the message is revenge is bad, but apparently not for Abby, just the people we likes

What happens around the 2 hours mark ruined the meaning of the first game and made me lose all interest, if I didn't pay I would have just stopped there, The love triangle thing is not for me and I find the revenge theme not interesting, the ending means nothing to me, Ellie would have been better sacrificed for science. I still had hope, even after the leaks, given ND past work but it was way worse than I thought. Some of the dialogue sounds straight out of fan-fiction to me… Expand

    Bad writings is bad. despite how good the games look, and some new additions it has. I've kept an open mind for it, I do love the franchise, I've platinumed the first game twice in PS3 and PS4. Subverting expectations is quite common nowadays in almost everything. great writers does it by giving audiences something they didn't know they wanted/need. the game failed miserably on that part.

I don't even consider this a game, it's just a political statement, not to mention how they tricked us into thinking we'd be playing as joel and ellie with the trailers (yeah, those two, if they didn't notice that's what made the first game the last of us).

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let's start with a good one. Great sound, musical accompaniment, one of the best atmospheres of the overgrown green zombie post-Apocalypse. Great graphics, gorgeous locations, with wildly beautiful and good detail. Everything is alive and beautiful, the weather is great. Models of weapons, animations, characters, infected and textures are photorealistic. Perfect color scheme. It is very interesting to explore the map. And everything except the plot, double morals and other things related to the narrative of the plot, the plot itself, and cheap techniques of playing on the imposed feelings is good. I don't even want to talk about the plot, it's just awful. Joel was made a villain, even though he saved his daughter from death in the first part, though not his own. Because the chance was less than 20 % and the cicadas still wanted to get the vaccine. And given the atrocities they committed, they would have used it for their own purposes. Joel is not a fool, decided to save Ellie. And now the writers are trying to make him look like a monster, making an angel out of (spoiler), even though she's a pure rat. There is also a bunch of moronic plot twists that just killed the plot in the game. So for me, it's just a single-player game with no plot, running for 30 hours.… Expand

    1/10 from me, Great graphics do not make a great game. Some of my all time best games had awful graphics but you could fill in the blanks. This is what I'd call a TURD GAME, it's like a shiny box looks and feels great but it's a box with no purpose. 3hrs done and dusted, uninstalled absolutely no desire to replay. Critics did we play the same game?

Most of the access media have knelt down for their corporate overlords by giving this a game a 10/10. If they can shill out and influence the sales of TLOU2 by giving it a ten, then us logical, rational and level headed customers are well within our rights to give it a 0. The only people "review bombing" this game are the ones that are supposed to have the interest of the common man at hand.

    Neil Druckmann and Anita Sarkeesian have ruined TLOU2. The story is awful and a chore to finish. Gone are the days of writing moving and inspiring stories. It was a clear disappointment overall and I felt like I was watching an 80's b flick made into playable form. The story was a simple revenge story with no revenge resulting in an unfulfilled journey without a payoff. After killing hundreds of infected and human to just turn around and not finish the journey off because to not repeat the cycle doesn't make sense in this apocalyptic world. The theme doesn't match with the theme of the world. A shoehorned idea just to milk out money.
    Graphically it's great. Controller and the game play is redundant from it's first iteration.
    It's appreciative to show inclusion with an asian kid, lbgqt and what not. But not allowing us to kill off the antagonist because of the so called inclusion didn't do anything to make it progressive, more like. since it's an inclusion. It's got plot armor.
    In the end, not something to spend your money on right now, but later when it's nearly free to buy.    … Expand

I hope you all will understand what I mean, and why I gave this game such a low rating. English isn`t even my native language, but after seeing how this game turned out, I can`t be silent.

    This game made me so angry by killing of Joel in such a dumb manner. He was an experienced survivor, with over 20 years of experience. I loved the previous game for how they portrayed the characters, seeing them have fun, living together, and surviving together. This game misses the important part too why (at least for me) the previous game had such good storytelling. When i started to play this game I was hoping for another Joel and Ellie game, were you would change between playing as them, and possibly other side characters like Tommy, but what I got was 10 hours of gameplay were i was forced to play as a character that i hated because of her actions. I sat patiently, and inn excitement to finally after all these years to play as Joel, but only 2 hours into the game he dies, and I feel no sympathy for the antagonist for killing him, even after hearing her reason to doing so. Inn my mind this was purely done for "shock factor" and not for any other reason then this. I myself didn`t see, or read any spoilers of this game, and my heart broke seeing Joel die such an unsatisfying death, only leaving a sour taste inn my mouth.

    On another note. The gameplay/game mechanics has gotten a huge upgrade since part 1, and the visuals also look astonishing. I hope that future games will also look as pretty as this game.

    The only reason I don`t give this game a 0, or 1 is because of the gameplay, and the visuals.

    1/ Scenario is obnoxious and force you to do dishonoring things
    2/ it is repetitive
    3/It disrespect the characters
    4/It has a political Agenda which if you support this game may change the industry in a day you won't like, so please get more informed

    I had high hopes until I heard that 70% of Naughty Dogs team left during or after production of last of us 2. I dreamed of working for them and this game was a nail in the coffin. The characters I loved were treated with disrespect and the characters I hated got way more screen time then I wanted. This game was torture porn.
