    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. wonderful gameplay seriously is really beautiful and the soundtrack too but imagine being in a post-pandemic world and your priority is that the world knows that you are "like this", we all expected Joel to die and possibly Ellie too but not in such a stupid way as they have done it, in just 4 years enormous progress has been shown when in the first one barely saw any salvageable things from the modern world totally meaningless. A total example that most of the sequels are rubbish… Expand

    Very simple: it's like a game of decisions that could take you to a gameover screen. Except that you DON'T make the decisions, the writers took all the gameover decisions for you, and it's never gameover.

    I'm giving it a 4 because I feel sad for the developers. Neil Druckman, however, should never ever make another game.

    The most important part of a game is the history, is the one that invite you to complete a long game and enjoy the process, but in this case the story si so bad from the beginnig, that it ruined the whole experience, such a disappointment, when i heard the leak of the game i though "there is no way they would ruin the game like that! must be a mistake" i was mistaken

    two hours in and I don’t want to keep playing. I had such high hopes going in, avoided every spoiler and leak I could... but it wasn’t enough. They should have left the story as it was and ended it with the first game. It’s a shame. Everything is so unbelievably forced and I feel like the story really doesn’t go anywhere. Only reason I give it a 1 rather than a zero is because thetwo hours in and I don’t want to keep playing.     It is ridiculous to call people who leave low marks in this game just 'Haters'. This is a well-made game, if the evaluation criteria are how much it gives player a bad feeling. The game is deliberately giving players a negative experience.
    If someone really played this game and left a positive review, they either didn't play the previous one, or they forgot all the content.

    I wish that the inclusion of a **** of modern politics issues and related things that make absolutely no sense forced into a ficticious world was my biggest problem. The game arguably has incredible graphics and gameplay mechanics, but for a storytelling oriented game, its story was a far cry from the masterpiece the first one established.     You turn on the TV and there is someone talking about politics, you conect to facebook and there is someone posting about politics. Politics everywhere. The last thing I want in a videogame is to come home after working hard to have politics and Ideologies inside a game.

    Terrible written story. Disregards the story of part 1 which was a complete masterpiece. So many plot holes. No character progression or depth. Nothing enjoyable from start to finish. Not a "10/10" game. Absolutely disappointed and devastated how this game turned out. Would never recommend to buy to play.

    Red dead 1 and 2 were great because in the end, you would get revenge. If Abby were to kill someone i loved and i had the opportunity to kill Abby, i would have finished it all and made sure she was rid of the world.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Graphics were incredible, beautiful scenery, animations, etc and really good gameplay. But, those aspects alone can't make a good game. The story was lacking, a big hit to a story-based game. The character development was somewhere on a scale of bland to nonexistent. The only new character I somewhat enjoyed was Dina although even she didn't have much of a personality aside from existing to be Ellie's relief. I wish they had given the side characters as much thought and development as Tess or Bill. Abby's motives were understandable but her story seemed forced and left no real room for empathy. (Her story would have been better executed if we played as her for the entire game and actually built a relationship with her and her father, even if it led up to Joel's death, or a choice to kill him at the end - anything would have been better than the story they gave us.) After the entire story played out, we were met with an unfulfilling ending. If Joel's death and him being spit on wasn't enough, Ellie lost her fingers and overall ability to carry on his legacy. I can only assume this was Naughty Dog's way of saying "That's it. The game you loved is now dead. Hope you enjoyed. Thanks for the 60 bucks." It just felt like the story was written by a person who hated the first game, I'm not even sure if it was written by the same people because it's so one-dimensional. Overall, 3 out of 10 because again, the graphics and gameplay are nothing compared to the story. If a game was made with stick figures but had an amazing story, it would get a 10/10 from me, this game has no excuse.… Expand

It used to be a story about finding happiness in a post-apocalyptic setting, and now it's just your run-of-the-mill, poorly written revenge story. Every single event (apart from Joel-Ellie related flashbacks) felt unsatisfying, especially the 2nd part of the game where you're forced to play as one of the new characters, Abby, just to make her seem somewhat lovable. Her story and interactions are so awful it only made me hate her more. How can you be that bad at character development...

    The game culminated in one of the worst, poorly written, least satisfying endings I've ever gotten to see. This game is a hard pass for any fan of TLOU1, or well, anyone for that matter.    … Expand

Naughty Dog purposefully put "old Joel" in the trailers talking w Ellie, but in the game it's all flashbacks and he's younger. Pure trash and they should be fined. They destroyed what could've been an awesome sequel for political agendas. This is what you get snowflakes and liberals, enjoy your handiwork

The first was a fan favorite due to the story's writing and the relationship dynamic between Ellie and Joel. It was perfect, or as close as it could be, especially with it's ending. I will always remember having to choose between sacrificing Ellie for the betterment of humanity, or saving her to let her life her life. The ending played on your morals and your sense of duty, it was perfect.

    The Last of US 2 is not a sequel, it may have the same characters, name, and setting etc, but it's not the same game. It's a **** show. The contrast in reviews between critics and users is laughable. It's abundantly clear that the critics were paid for their 10/10 reviews, because anyone playing this would immediately know it's garbage.

    Sure the graphics were amazing. And it's improved it's crafting system, a few other things when compared to the first. But the storyline is nonexistent. Killing Joel was definitely a downer, but this wouldn't have been the first game that's killed off an important beloved character. When done right, it can truly improve the storyline and promote character growth with the remaining cast. That wasn't the case here. Killing Joel off was bad enough, but doing it in the way you did, making a show of it, was just disgusting. Worse yet you made us play as "Abby" the one who literally beat Joel to death. It's obvious that you intended for us to grow attached to her throughout her storyline. How we'd learn her motivations in killing Joel, and eventually grow to care for the character. That obviously failed.

    Making us hate the character we are about to play as was truly one of the worst things you've could have done. If that wasn't bad enough, the ending was truly pathetic and pointless. Ellie's storyline throughout the game is one of revenge. It was written poorly, but it was definitely a motivating goal for most of us playing. Ellie killed hundreds of people throughout the game for her revenge, but in the end choose to spare Joel's killer, like what the **** was that? You even made her lose some fingers in the fight, yet she still choose to let them go?

    A better ending wouldn't have made this any better, but it sure would have been more tolerable. A better ending would have been to choose between Killing Abby yourself, or letting her die off slowly while on the cross. That would been so much better the **** we ended up getting. What a disappointment, you ruined Joel's character by killing him off in the way you did, and completely ruined Ellies as well.    … Expand

    Graphics are good as expected from a Naughty Dog game, game play is similar to the first one but my god the characters are bad and make stupid decisions.
    Also god awful story and destroys everything the first game built. Apparently it's a Must play game - what a joke it's a waste of money and precious time. I will definitely be returning this game and get my money's worth.

    Graphics are amazing, the game is really immersive. The background designs are top notch and stunningly beautiful.They really made use of the PS4's capabilities. The small details they added in are cool like adding steam to a coffee cup. The character models are fantastic and the hair looks super good on all of them.

    That being said:

    The story tried to "subvert expectations" and failed miserably.

    Let's talk about the elephant in the room: Abby. The game spends more time on her than Ellie herself. The entire time I spent playing her was me begging to go back to playing Ellie's story. Ellie actually seems to be a secondary character in this game, with Abby being the main character. The developers tried to make us feel bad for Abby even though she killed Joel, who killed her dad in the first game (one of the surgeons trying to cut Ellie open).

    Joel's death was a gruesome and unnecessarily violent scene to the point I wished I hadn't seen it. What made the scene even worse was Ellie in the background begging Abby to stop while being forced to watch with nothing she could do about it. (Ellie later develops PTSD from this scene).

    The storyline was confusing, and at times, downright boring. Honestly? I don't care about any of the other groups in the game. I don't care about Abby or anyone she loves getting killed. Good. I want to see her suffer. The idea to have Abby kill Joel at the beginning of the game was a stupid decision and the person who decided that needs to get fired. That should've been placed at the end of the game so the drive to find Abby would've been stronger, and so we would care more about her before she killed Joel.

    The flashbacks are so bad. I couldn't tell whether or not I was in a flashback, or in a flashback of a flashback. I couldn't remember whether or not I was in the present time anymore. Like I said previously, most of the game is spent on Abby, Joel's killer. If you despise her for what she did then don't play this game. Most of the flashbacks are about her and her friends or lovers. We don't care about Abby or anything about her.

    I can't even remember any of the new characters in her story besides Abby herself and Lev (who is her lover?? Who knows). I can't remember the other groups and what they do like the "Scars" who are bad apparently. I guess I was so bored I forgot what made them bad. There were a couple other ones like the one Abby was a part of but I don't remember it at all and I don't care to.

    On the other hand:

    Ellie's story was really sweet and intense and I wished I could play more of it. She goes on an absolute rampage across country to hunt down Abby, killing everyone in her way. There's not much else I can say about it because of how little she appears in the game. She shouldn't even be on the cover, honestly. What I can remember is her relationships with her friends and how cool it was. There were flashbacks of Joel and Ellie that I couldn't get enough of.

    Here's the part that will forever make me mad. Warning: rant time.

    Ellie doesn't kill Abby. I can't wrap my head around it. Why? We all hate her. Ellie hates her. Just do it.

    That and the fact that Abby bit her fingers off and then was able to escape with Lev scot-free. Abby STILL got the last word, so what was even the point of chasing after her?

    What made me cry a little is the realization that no one cares about Ellie anymore. She has no friends since they're all dead now, her girlfriend left with their child when Ellie made the decision to chase after Abby. Tommy doesn't seem to care since he left thinking Ellie wouldn't go get revenge. There's literally no one left alive that cares about her anymore. Her only comfort is the memories she has of Joel and that empty house that her and her girlfriend stayed in.

    Ellie came back to an empty house, injured, depressed, with PTSD, no closure for Joel, and abandoned by everyone she loves. Ellie didn't deserve this. Joel didn't deserve this.

    3-4 years down from here, when you find this game on sale for $5, that’s when you should play it.
    Also, if you just play games for the sake of playing and aren’t serious about it, then also you can play this. But if you are one who tends to connect with the story and aim for an immersive experience, this is definitely not the game. The gunplay is still a sub standard mess, just an awful and dated experience. Not to mention the agenda they've shoehorned into the story, perhaps the only redeeming quality of this franchise for me. I will never be giving Naughty Dog my money again

    The graphics are good but the entire game suffers from a monotone atmosphere. The game simply feels like one long morbid snuff film from which you can't get away. The game has nothing to offer other than smooth animation and CGI. It basically bases it's entire existence on animation quality and shock value.

    It’s SO bad! Silly story that resembled the worst parts of Westworld. I don’t know why some reviews are political. Most are negative bc people are upset they wasted $ on this game. If the creators had integrity they would offer refunds. I genuinely feel I deserve a refund due to the false advertising.

    Wow. How did this game receive 10 out of 10 from so many reviewers. I have never been so disappointed in in my life. Do these critics get paid by Naughty Dog or something? I felt like I was watching a bad movie more than playing a game that had some interesting bugs in it.

How can you just kill the best person to play as at the start of the game then do a **** side quest half the game, just for the whole game game to be for nothing in the end what a joke. Last of us part 1 is one of my all time favorites and probably the best engaging story I've ever played. Felt Iike I had to make this account just how bad this game really is completely butchered the story, the whole reason anyone's even playing your **** game.     awkward moment when the gameplay is interesting, the graphics seem to be also beautiful, but the plot built around the stupidest twist, for the sake of a twist, as in games of thrones, destroys everything at the root. Last of us is officially dead for me. The biggest disappointment of the year 2020.

    As a whole it is a classic game is pretty well done but I find the repetitive gameplay and the story not credible to finish I am not homophobic but I do not tolerate the propaganda of "LGBT" and other bad intentions.

    I just finished the game. All I can say, game is bad overall. When you talk games like TLOU generally, you talk about a "story" not "gameplay". While gameplay plays a big part, story plays a bigger one.
    Straight forward, ND destroyed the game. They forced agendas upon their players knowing TLOU had a lot of fans, and the game grew so much in those seven years gap.
    What they did to get their money was false marketing the *STORY*. Check the latest "reveal date" trailer from them. They painted the game as if you'll play with Ellie now she's grown up, while having Joel alongside later in the game, and that never happened.
    Last of "Us" always meant to me as two characters: Ellie and Joel. Now I don't disagree with killing Joel, but he deserved much **** better. We fell in love with his character, and you killing him off just to push some agenda in the first 2 hours is what I call killing off the **** game.

    I was one of those who defended the game before playing it, but now that I did and finished it, all I can say I'm sorry for doubting the haters, because I'm one, too.

    AND that aside, fans expected lots answers: Why is Ellie immune? What happened to the world? The cure? They left a lot of **** just to push some agenda, which I'm okay with, but completely **** unnecessary, especially in a video game like this.

    But hey I learnt a lesson here which is never preorder a game, especially from PS dog**** store. I wasted $60, and I will regret paying ND this **** much for this ****ty game.

    Now, I want a dev or a storyteller who was part of TLOU 2 making to actually make a video explaining the meta behind the writing of this **** story. How can you even come up with this trash? Were there ever QA involved here? DID ANYBODY IN THIS COMPANY TEST THIS GAME AND THOUGHT "OH WE SHOULDN'T DO THAT." ?!

Many dialogues can be missed if you haven't played the first like when Ellie tells that they once met a guy called Bill who used to plant bombs all over his town or when she was captured by people who used to eat their victims. Great acting and the story isn't obvious, never felt to know how it would go on. The game makes you feel many emotions and makes you even stop playing it because you don't want carry on, you don't agree with what is happening but this is the beauty of this game, within hours or minutes it makes you feel opposite emotions and makes you hate yourself for hating certain characters only because you didn't agree with them because of the lack of understanding and knowledge of their background and motivations. I loved the story but what I loved most was that this game brought up so many emotions, not all positives but also negatives, that i can't say many games are able to do so. Part 2 goes deeper in the story and gets better gameplay to the point that the first TLOU looks like a demo, just a taste of what ND wanted to tell and show with this games.… Expand

    Tenemos buena jugabilidad, si eres amante de la primera parte la segunda seguro que te encanta, sensación de realismo, increíble sonido ambiental, BSO, etc, gráficos de ensueño, animaciones de película y todo único e impresionante, necesitamos más juegos así.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
