    After playing "The Last of Us" I was eagerly waiting for this game. I was so love with the first game's characters and managed to avoid the spoiler leaks. But after playing the second game I can say it that this game is pure trash. They took everything I loved about the first game and removed it. Save your money people.

    Awful. Simply awful. The leaks were real. The plot is the worst they could possibly make, it's a good game, if you play it skipping the cutscenes and with the voices in Russian with no subtitles.

    TLDR: The game looks and sounds amazing. The gameplay is like the first but much more polished aside from some nasty difficulty spikes. The story is split into two halves. One half is good, the other is great. When the two halves are combined, they both suffer immensely.

    The game has incredible presentation as is par for Naughty Dog. Playing on PS4 pro, the game has phenomenal graphics,    TLDR: The game looks and sounds amazing. When the two halves are combined, they both suffer immensely.

    The game has incredible presentation as is par for Naughty Dog. Playing on PS4 pro, the game has phenomenal graphics, some of the best animations I've ever seen, absolutely glorious surfacing for things like water and asphalt, the voice acting is as great as ever. The gameplay as well stands out to me. I continually ran into issues with poor balancing (easy difficulties are way too easy, hard difficulties are way to hard) I think this is an issue of the gaming industry as a whole and it didn't prevent me from enjoying to gameplay save for a few very difficult encounters. The gameplay is pretty similar though largely improved from the first game. I played on the second hardest difficulty, Survivor, and my playthrough where I explored every optional path I could find took 40 hours. The average playtime is closer to 24-30 hours. Even with this 40 hour runtime I was never bored of the combat and the options it allowed me. The combat encounters, especially against the infected enemies, are almost puzzle like in ways. It rewards knowledge of enemy AI, proficiency with the game's weapons, and familiarity with the arenas where you fight these enemies, in a very satisfying way.

    And now.. to the story. Spoilers here of course.

    The first half of the game you play as Ellie from the first game, Ellie has some great gameplay sections, one oddly inserted and forgettable car chase, but an amazing open world section with lots to explore and goodies to find. Her story is fine if not a bit cliched.

    The second half of the game you play as Abby, who Ellie has been trying to kill the entire game. They force you into this character to be polarizing and shocking. You unfortunately have to actively force yourself to side with Abby, this isn't a fault of Abby's story, but rather Ellie's motivations, which linger after playing as her for 15 hours. If you can manage to distance yourself from Ellie, Abby is very entertaining and fun to play as. Her gameplay sequences clearly were a little less polished but were still greatly enjoyable. I think Ellie's story alone is pretty good. Abby's story alone is really great. When the game tries to merge the two together, it fails entirely.    … Expand

This game is absolutely brilliant. During the game I went from I love this game to I don't like this game to I really love this game! Personally I quite enjoyed this game and although I had some issues with the story and pacing, it still left a mark on me. It is however a very bleak game and at the end of it, I felt emotionally and mentally drained. I do not however regret getting this game at launch as my playthrough clocked in at about 25 hours but that probably doesn't include all the times I died.

    My biggest gripe with this game is that they destroyed Joel's character and to a lesser extent Tommy's. In the first game, it was established that Joel did not trust people (at the beginning of the outbreak, Joel did not stop the car for a family on the side of the road and told Tommy to keep driving; Joel ran over a man he knew was pretending to be injured because he had high suspicions that it was a trap). In this Tommy and Joel gave out their real names to a group of strangers and put themselves in a situation where they were easily ambushed. This felt like lazy writing to me and was just used as a plot device to move the story forward.

    Fanboys will say that Neil Druckmann addresses this by saying that Joel and Tommy became soft but this was not properly conveyed. They were still going out on regular patrols and if anything, Joel's experience would have led him to be more careful, not less. Druckmann says that Abby and her group were just regular people, not hunters. This is shown not to be the case as Abby and her group are worse; they've WLF (wolves) and they kill strangers on sight.

    The game would've have been better if:
    1. They established Joel and Ellie's relationship a bit more. They should've had you playing as both characters for maybe 1/4 of the game and then kill Joel off. This would've been more impactful and would've given players what they wanted from the first game.
    2. They should've started off with Abby's arc and established her character if they wanted you to sympathise with her. Abby is actually one of the worse people in the game. She tortures Joel, kills god knows how many people and has no remorse or PTSD about any of it. She's a straight up psychopath. She did however grow on me but I generally forgive relatively easy when I'm playing something I enjoy.

    Now for the good parts. The game is astoundingly beautiful, everything from the characters to the environment are breathtaking. It'll probably be the prettiest game on the PS4. The mo-cap and the voice acting are top notch. The gameplay is excellent and much more refined than the first. The rope mechanics are pretty impressive. I can definitely say I had a lot of fun playing it.

    I also applaud Naughty Dog for trying something different however I wished they executed it better and responded better to criticism. I do not like the fact that they went to great lengths to deceive the fans by modifying the trailers to give the impression that Joel will have a bigger presence than he did. Plenty of people don't/won't enjoy it and that's fair. It's a very divisive game.    … Expand

Let me make it clear that I have no issue playing as Ellie or any other woman in any video game but in this game Ellie is rather stale compared to her in the first game. I could go into more detail but long story short I found myself not caring about the majority of characters in this simply because they didn't appeal to me because I found them to be boring.     biggest dissapointment of 2020, this is textbook tutorial on how to destroy your frainchaise with plotholes and character assassinations. story wise was a bit confusing with the constant flashback and flashback between flashback overall the gameplay is solid but not innovative.
    basically this game was a 7 year wait for a dissapoinment

So he and Tommy putting themselves in that position is unlikely. But I get it, we all get it that Joel was destined to die in this game but it could be a different way.     Despite, there are some illogical moments with your companions' detection. They can not be detected by enemies at all. They are like ghosts before the fight starts. The musical accompaniment is on another level.    To be honest, this game is truly a masterpiece if we talk about graphics. I enjoyed the gameplay so much, i can't describe it; you can literally feel every characters' move.

    The musical accompaniment is on another level. It is very atmospheric. You can actually feel Ellie's feelings when she starts singing.

    Finally, the storyline. It is not that bad as many people say, but I wasn't satisfied by the ending of the game. I mean, it is a perfect ending at once, but on the other hand it has no sense. There are many cliches in the game as well. Of course it is my opinion.

    I believe that, The Last of Us 2 was not the sequel we wanted, nevertheless it was an extremely "real" sequel. It's a fact that everyone's time in an apocalyptic afterworld is ticking, in this instance Joel was next in line. But here is what I think of Joel's death. 7 years ago, we were introduced to one of the most iconic video game protagonists in the history of gaming. A father figure, we came to cherish and love with our hearts. 7 years passed, some of us relived The Last of Us both on PS3 and PS4, and our love for Joel deepened on account of the game aging so well, much like wine.
    But here's the sitch, by now, we as gamers are used to the hero winning, him coming out on top or having a hero's death, but that is not "real". What is real is that much like everyone, Joel's time too was ticking, 24 years of surviving was a mixture of experience and luck, luck which ultimately ran out and experience that was futile against Abby and her crew. The story whether we like it or not told a "real" tale of hopelessness. In truth we wanted a Joel and Ellie team up game where they kicked ass and reminded us of our times back 7 years ago, we wanted the bonding moments to make us feel that Joel and Ellie were not just fictional characters in a game but people we know, feel for and want to succeed in life. Ellie was meant to be written well but the reason why we probably didn't like her as much was because we could not get over the fact that she grew up and distanced herself from Joel because of his surgery secret coming out. In the end, Ellie gets not just the life but the ending that we the players did not want to see. Again, counting on this being "real" phenomenon really bugged me, games are supposed to make me feel like things are going to be ok, make me know that the characters i spend time with are going to come out on top or at least be respected when they pass away. Although it is hard for me, I still somewhat respect the way Naughty Dog went on with the game, it is hard to dislike a company many of us grew up with just for one game. I know, TLOU is not a game serious any of us wanted to see go down this path but it did, thats it. its out there, and people either like it or hate it.
    I believe that the gay scenes could have been directed better, trying to do something as new as this, simply came off as if they were trying too hard to send a message. And that's where the controversies laid their eggs I think. In the end, at times it feels like even Naughty Dog was uncomfortable and was forcibly sprinkling homosexual innuendoes into the game. I believe the romance Between Ellie and Dina could have been far more beautiful IF IT STRETCHED THROUGHOUT THE GAME AND MADE ME FEEL FOR DINA AND WHAT SHE MEANS TO ELLIE. Thats why I loved Joel, we spent the most of the entire game as him, we know his story and we know his pain. TLOU 2 was supposed to be a revenge story but it gave me little to want revenge. I'm just going to say it, forgive me brothers and sisters, but i kinda did like Abby, if thats what devs wanted then they succeeded. I did not view this game as a political statement, rather as a blueprint of what mistakes one should avoid in storytelling. Abby's story showed me that, literally everyone has a story, TLOU just turned out to be a story about a man and a little girl, a story which could have been even about a mother surviving with her newborn baby (A Quiet Place style). Abby was not a bad character, yes I strongly disliked her for killing Joel, but I honestly feel like her character development was better that that of Ellie in this game. Unpopular opinion I know. Don't judge me but my favourite character in Game of Thrones was Ramsey, so yeah, I like to see new character developments.
    Anyway, I firmly believe that this game should have been third one in the series, and if the devs were adamant on killing off Joel then I'm willing to make sacrifices, just please, PLEASE, if they killed Joel they could have given us a Gandalf falls with the Balrog in LOTR kind of vibe. And someone has to say this, this game needed more Gustavo Santaolalla and the original score in my honest opinion.
    Bottom line is, it looks like many disliked Abby and still didn't care for her backstory. I think trying to evade her as she hunts Joel for the entire game would've been more interesting. In the end Joel and Ellie fail and Abby kills Joel. Joel dies in Ellie's hands while the TLOU music plays and Ellie quietly whispers DON'T DO THIS TO ME (like Joel and Sarah in the first Game).

    Many people criticize this product because it is part of some political propaganda, but the truth is that the game itself does not deserve a score of 10 points as most of the press has given it. It doesn't even deserve a 6, to be honest.

    Waited awhile to post this but I was highly disappointed with this sequel, the whole revenge plot that the director wanted to do for this game was poorly implemented and considering Last of Us Part 2 is a story driven game the plot was all over the place & didn't make any sense. While I enjoyed playing as Ellie & Abby but both Characters Overall Plot Was executed very messy & confusing andWaited awhile to post this but I was highly disappointed with this sequel, the whole revenge plot that the director wanted to do for this game was poorly implemented and considering Last of Us Part 2 is a story driven game the plot was all over the place & didn't make any sense. While I enjoyed playing as Ellie & Abby but both Characters Overall Plot Was executed very messy & confusing and left me feeling very dissatisfied. I commend all the hard work put in to making this game from the Art & graphics even including the gameplay but I cannot complement the story aspects. I now understand why the previous Head team at Naughty Dog Development on the first Last Of Us didn't want to Do a Revenge plot on the first game. Why the New Head director choose to do the same for the sequel is beyond me. Unfortunately I cannot in good conscience recommend this game to anyone considering all the crunch culture the employees at Naughty Dog had to go through leading to people leaving the studio, even including all the people who were effected by the DMCA stike takedown & the threat of loosing their Channel on YouTube just for having a opinion on this game. While I hate to say it but I am making a hard choice and will not be looking forward to anything else coming from Naughty Dog Studio anymore, not untill the Studio takes a long look at what they need to do moving forward in order to make a good game.… Expand

Flashbacks inside of flashbacks. If they reordered the story it might have been an 8. I saw it through to the end but it was tough.     This game is more complex that part I in every way possible. It elevates the medium to a whole new level. One game of a kind, masterpiece.

Ce que j'ai à dire à propos de ce jeu m'empêche de vouloir l'acheter, et y jouer : Comme la raison qui pousse Abby à tuer Joel est qu'il a tué son père qui était un des 3 chirurgiens qui avaient opérée Ellie, et essayé de la tuer avec le vaccin chez les Lucioles, je trouve qu'il faudrait améliorer ce jeu en ajoutant 2 alliés d'Abby de plus : 2 ados du nom de Franky et Mark.

    Franky aurait 1 ou 2 ans de plus que Mark, et il soutiendrait Manny comme Mel, Jordan, Nora, Whitney, Leah, et Nick quand il veut tuer Ellie et Tommy après qu'Abby ait tué Joel en disant à Owen « Si on les laisse partir, tu te doutes bien qu'ils vont revenir se venger ! » après que lui, ait dit que si lui et les autres les tuaient, ils ne vaudraient pas mieux que Joel.

    Par contre, Mark aurait à peu près l'âge d'Ellie, et il l'aiderait à trouver Abby contrairement aux autres (à part Mel) qu'on choisisse de tuer ou d'épargner Kari, la chirurgienne qui aide les 2 autres à opérer Ellie, et qui serait la mère de Mark dans le premier The Last of Us. Même si on la tue, Mark comprendrait pourquoi Joel a fait ça puisque ce serait pour sauver Ellie, et il essaierait donc dans The Last of Us 2, à Jackson de convaincre Abby d'épargner Joel en lui disant que le tuer ne ramènerait son père, et qu'elle pourrait l'emprisonner. Et elle, lui demanderait s'il penserait comme ça si Joel avait tuée sa mère (si on l'épargne dans le premier The Last of Us). Mais si on la tue, elle lui demanderait s'il a oublié ce qui lui ait arrivé, et s'il ne veut plus la venger, et lui, répondrait « Ouais, mais pas comme ça ! » Quoi qu'on choisisse de faire avec sa mère, il défendrait Joel car comme il reconnaitrait Ellie en la voyant, il saurait que c'était pour la sauver. Ensuite, il défendrait Ellie et Tommy comme Owen le fait.

    Ensuite, plus tard, dans la partie où on contrôle Ellie, après qu'elle ait tué Jordan, Whitney et Nora, Franky et Mark discuteraient seuls de ce qu'Abby a fait à Joel, et qu'elle s'entiche de Yara et Lev, et ils se prendraient la tête avec ça, et surtout, que Mark n'aurait plus aucune confiance en elle, et qu'il trouve que c'est une ordure comme Mel le lui dit à elle, et donc, Mark déciderait de partir avec Mel, Yara et Lev à Santa Barbara. Et Franky s'en foutrait, et le laisserait faire en lui disant qu'il n'a pas besoin de lui. Et au moment où il irait les rejoindre, Ellie interviendrait pour les interroger, lui et Franky, et elle leur demanderait où est Abby. Et Mark se montrerait coopératif comme Mel, mais Franky essaierait de l'en empêcher, et de protéger Abby (comme Nora et Owen le font), et comme Mark essaierait de le dire à Ellie, Franky lui dirait de la fermer (comme Marlon le dit à Brody dans l'épisode 1 de The Walking Dead : L'ultime saison), et comme il continuerait, Franky essaierait de le tuer, mais Ellie le tuerait à tant avec son flingue pour qu'il puisse continuer. Et après ça, quand elle lui dirait de ne pas essayer de s'enfuir, de jeter son arme, et de lui dire où est Abby, il lui répondrait en étant terrifié, et en lui promettant de ne pas lui mentir, de s'enfuir, de l'attaquer, et de la conduire à elle en lui disant de se calmer, et en la suppliant de l'épargner comme Kari en supplie Joel (si dans le premier The Last of Us, on tue le deuxième chirurgien, ou qu'on lui tire dans la jambe chez les Lucioles).

Et elle l'emmènerait avec elle en lui disant que si c'est une arnaque, elle lui ferait subir le même sort que Leah, Nick, Jordan, Whitney et surtout, que Nora.

    Et comme il accompagnerait Ellie jusqu'à ce qu'elle tombe sur Alice, Owen et Mel, après qu'elle ait tué Owen, quand Mel essaierait de la poignarder avec son couteau, juste avant qu'Ellie ne riposte pour la tuer, Mark interviendrait, l'éloignerait d'elle, et lui pointerait un flingue qu'il aurait sur lui en lui disant de reculer. Et il supplierait Ellie de l'épargner car elle est enceinte. Et donc, comme Tommy et Jesse interviendraient, ils emmèneraient Mark et Mel avec eux pour les interroger à propos d'Abby, et aider Mel à donner naissance à son bébé en plus de celui de Dina.

    After 22 hours with this game, I can now give my honest opinion. It is not as bad as everyone originally said but that does not mean it is good. This game is a solid 6 or 7 no higher no lower. The combat was fun (the was is important later), the graphics are beautiful, the environments and level design is amazing, and the voice acting is impeccable. The AI is laughably bad, I'd argue its nearly as bad if not worse than assassin's creed AI. This brings the game automatically to an 8 or 9, but now its the story. I really don't want to go into detail with this simply because it would require a whole essay to describe all my problems with this game. The simple facts are the reason why this story is bad is due; 1) Abby, 2) Character inconsistencies from the last game (Joel and Tommy), 3) the revenge bad plotline, and 4) pretty much every new character actually.… Expand

    Es un muy buen juego, la historia es muy buena acompañada de unos excelentes gráficos y una jugabilidad estupenda, este juego nos deja ver una cruda realidad en un mundo post apocalíptico donde cualquier persona puede morir en cualquier momento, y no necesariamente como un héroe.

    I believe the truth about this game lies in the middle ground between paid critics and the user score. First of all, this game is an absolute gem and state-of-the-art in terms of technology. There is absolutely no way that, even if you hated the story, this game is a 0/10 or something of the likes. At the same time there is no way you could give this game more than 8/10 on a basis of game-design.

    The gameplay is almost identical to the first part and it can hardly be called an "action game" let alone video game. The first part got away with it, because the story is simply so brilliant and captivating. TLOU2, however, exposes the weaknesses this series always had, due to its poor storyline.

    The drastic changes from the first part seem not only out of proportion, but also unrealistic. Luxuries like transgenderism would never exist in an apocalypse setting. Apart from being focused on biological survival of the humans, there isnt even a society to define traditional gender roles. This is basically an analogy for the entire game, the occurences feel forced and unnatural. Every decision of the protagonists makes you hate them more. There is nothing wrong with transgenderism and homosexuality, but its like creating a sports game with only fat athletes. It just doesnt check out.

    Furthermore, throwing extreme brutality with no underlying meaning or message at the player didnt help either. I imagine the goal was to provoke a sophisticated reaction from the players, but it feels more like a trashy splatter movie than an artistic shocking message.

    Overall this game feels more like a statement. Its easily the most boring AAA game I have ever played. The points that kept me playing were the beautiful design & music (in most parts very atmospheric), the hope for a genius story twist and simple nostalgia for the first part.

    I think the game may appeal to a niche audience and it does have its moments, but personally I wish I hadnt wasted my time with it.    … Expand

    Even if the game had no real gameplay, I would have absolutely enjoyed my whole time with this game, only because of the fantastic graphics, the sound and the story it tells every minute of the game within cutscenes, environmental storytelling and superb written dialogues.
    But on top of that there is a very solid and realistic    I don't often write reviews, but this game needs a few words.
    Even if the game had no real gameplay, I would have absolutely enjoyed my whole time with this game, only because of the fantastic graphics, the sound and the story it tells every minute of the game within cutscenes, environmental storytelling and superb written dialogues.
    But on top of that there is a very solid and realistic stealth-gameplay, which created situations I will long remember.
    And the story, and what it did with me, is a pure masterpiece. The way I felt with characters, even some I didn't want to like in the beginning, was so intense, like the best movies not often manage to accomplish. I cried (some small :) tears of joy and tears of sorrow during this tour de force.

Я не испытывал не каких эмоций. может так было задуманно?? Типо после всего этого пути жажда мести угасла?? после того что сделала Эбби. как можно было пощадить этого человека? это очень эмоциональная игра, и я понимаю что этот финал будут разбирать годами. но я думаю в финале нужно было сделать выбор убить или пощадить Эбби. Каждый бы сам решил что делать с этим персонажем. эх... да я понимаю что Джоэл и Элли тоже не самые лучшие люди. Они (убивали,пытали и т.д). Джоэл убил отца Эбби. Элли убила друзей Эбби. вообщем эта игра очень играет с нашими эмоциями и всю эту кашу переварить за пару дней не возможно. Но такие игры выходят не каждый год. The gameplay itself is also very simple (hide and shoot), but never gets dull, and at times will have your palms sweating profusely with fear. My roommates pretty much watched me play the entire game, and there were parts where all 5 of us were anxiously screaming while i was running for my life. The narrative is excellent. Sure, some things didn't happen the way I would have wanted them to, but for me that doesn't take away the quality of the story being told. The characters are fleshed out more so than a lot of our favorite movies and TV shows, and their decisions are justified through their past experiences and reactions to said experiences. The game changes the way you look at certain characters, both in good ways and in bad ways. I was in awe at my own emotional development towards them, both gaining and losing trust as the game went on. No other game has done that for me, and I tip my cap to Naughty Dog for such an achievement.
    And lastly, the soundtrack is amazing. No surprise there.
    I could go on and on, but I feel like a lot of it is just repeating what the other people who enjoyed Part II are saying. I will never understand the hate that this game got, but everyone is entitled to feel how they do.
    With that, I say thank you, Naughty Dog. It was truly an experience like no other.    … Expand

The protagonist of the first installment died, at the hands of the "daughter" of the NPC, in a ridiculous way in the early part of the game making it clear that the story was going to take place around Ellie and her Unbridled revenge of death, leaving traces of blood everywhere until from one moment to the next, on the verge of realizing it, he repents and lets the alleged antagonist go in peace.

    This game is visually appealing and the gameplay is very similar to The Last of Us 1, one of the best video games of the past 10 years. So this should be good, right? Unfortunately, it's not due to the horrible story of this game, throwing away the magic of the first game in favor of some shock and awe approach that never ends up paying off. Save yourself $60 and don't buy this game.

    The music is great

    The first few hours of gameplay are fun, but the other 3/4 of the game gets repetitive and boring (also the ia of the enemies is not so good)

    Characters (almost all of them) are plain, with stupid motivations ,have no development and you do not get to empathize with them (spoiler: the second half of the game you play as abby, a character taken out of the ass with a **** backstory that almost at the beginning of the game kills one of the most beloved characters in the franchise, Joel. I don't understand how the hell the creators of this game expect us to empathize with this character)

    And the most important thing in the game, the Plot ... is pure bull****, that plot that made the first game so good is totally screwed up with a cliche story of revenge, it has lazy writing, it's full of plotholes , the events happen for no apparent reason (spoiler, at the end of the game ellie is about to kill abby but out of nowhere she has a change of heart and decides not to kill her, despite the fact that throughout the game she has killed hundreds of people she decides not to kill the murderer of her father figure) and the outcome is ****

    Everything else is good which is unfortunate because the story is what made TLOU great in the first place. Out of all the things they could have screwed up it had to be the one most important aspect of the game. A total disaster and a total disappointment for the more hardcore fans of the franchise.

It is actually such a excellent game, worthy of being a sequel to the first. The characters, the story, the visuals, the music, the mood, all of it is just perfect. The story is really about revenge, one person wants to get revenge against Joel, the other wants to get revenge for Joel. In the end, this game is a fantastic symbol for how violence drives the human mind. All of this culminates into an ending that is driven by heart, passion, and Ellie’s love and respect for Joel.… Expand

I’ve honestly never been this disappointed in a story being continued to the point I wish this game never was ultimately made. The writers ruined what could have been a gem of a franchise. What an absolute waste. I’ll forever love TLOU, but I’ll try my best to forget this sequel ever came to be. Disappointed doesn’t begin to explain how I feel after playing this game. FML.    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
