This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. At first when people were complaining about the story, I thought they're just sad that Joel died. Then, I finished the game. It was pretty bad. It was exhausting. The entire Abby part I just want it to be over. They dragged the story for too long, and they put small annoying things that it came out horrible.

    1. Making you kill dogs

    2. Playing Abby right after killing the only likeable character, Jesse.

    3. Irresponsible pregnant women jumping and running around

    4. That sex scene

    5. Making you play as Abby in the theater

    6. Lev going back for his mom?? (Who cares??)

It's a shame such good gameplay was accompanied by this nonsensical drama

Hard to believe it's the same company. What the hell is this trend to intentionally disapoint fans. This is on pair with Game of Thrones season 8. And I bought PS4 to play this game I was so hyped. Please buy it second hand if you want to play it.Let's not make them believe they actually made a good game. Sales are driven by the success of TLOU1 that's all.

The story was illogical at times, bland in others, and almost the entire time it was rarely engaging. Often a story can make up for mechanical shortcomings but most of the time I just daydreamed about better games.

The combat, if it can be called that, is like the first Hitman game pre-alpha. It felt like a chore almost every time. It might be me, but I got bored of the really linear

It might be me, but I got bored of the really linear format almost immediately. Both in story and combat. I know the first one was similar but it just felt...off. Like I was just moving my joystick through a movie script or scene. It's not so much playing a game as it is one of those choose your own adventure novels. Except there's only one choice. And the adventure itself sucks. I wish there was some form of choice, even if it was small. But everything felt forced to another level. All in all I appreciated the graphics and the cutscenes, at first, but the flashbacks, combat, and lack of any semblance of free will just turned it into a slog very early on. The "puzzle" portions of the various stages were insulting, at best. Something like Resident Evil, generally, requires at least one brain cell. Every stage is built for an intelligent bird in this one. Rolling platform? High access point. Door locked? Break window. It was just very superficial and repetitive. Add in something engaging. Make me think. Even if a little bit. Otherwise all the "puzzles" are just things to waste my time. Imagine if every building in Skyrim had its doors locked and a window up on a platform open. Eventually what's the point of the locked doors? They're just there to be locked. But when locked door equals another automatic access point the meaning is lost. Just goes back to the overtly linear format. The reason this has a 1 star review instead of a 0 is entirely because of the guitar. I spent more time playing songs on the guitar than enjoying the entire rest of the game. If this was Last of Us: Guitar Hero I'd give it 9 stars. Honestly, if I keep the game, it will just be for the guitar. Overall I wouldn't recommend the game to anyone. Unless you have insomnia. Or like playing the guitar.

Potentially the best game ever made. It wasn't just a game, it felt like an experience. The moments where you hate and despise a character one moment, to completely understanding their motivations the next.

The motivations of the characters and their 'I am right' attitude and their aims for revenge is like nothing else I've ever experienced in a game, in places the game feels like more than just a game, it feels like a combination of everything that is good about movies, or how books can delve into characters back stories in much more depth, plus the things you can only do in a video game to make something really important that raises the bar (just like they did with the first game) to make a completely unforgettable experience.

It's a shame that user reviews are so low due to people being unable to accept the incredible and extremely ambitious story Naughty Dog set out to tell and seemingly can't accept that the fate of certain characters was destined to end the way they did.

    -Fantastic Graphic
-Gameplay barely different to the first game, which was ok, but wasn't the biggest fan of it already then, exspected a bigger change and improvement
-Characters: in my opinion ruined the characters from the first game (Ellie & Joel) and added a new main character (Abby) nobody cares about
-Story: tries to force you onto Abby's story and changes your opinion of Ellie in a negative way; has so many unnecessary scenes especially in Abby's part, which will just lengthen the game; horrible pacing of the story overall and the switch between abby's and ellis's story could have been done in so many way better; a lot of loopholes and things that don't make sense
-ending: probably one of the worst i've seen in a long time

Overall it's a fantastic looking game with ok-ish gameplay, which will ruin your favourite characters from the first part through horrible pacing and interducing you a new main character nobody cares about. 25 hours of wasted time.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first game is my favourite game of all time. Not for the graphics, crafting, enemy AI, shooting mechanics as they were all somewhat flawed, the reason is for the characters and story.

The Last of Us Part 2 has improved its mechanics certainly but the story and treatment of beloved characters is like some sort of parody. I suppose I'm glad Joel was killed of early as he was spared the character destruction Ellie received. Once the funny smart mouthed glimmer of hope in this world, shes become frankly a resentful angry and selfish husk of her former self. Jessie and Lev were the only decent new characters for me.

I don't understand the logic of Abby's decisions at all. Her father wanted to kill Ellie without giving her a choice. Later in the game she cares deeply for 2 people who saved her life, turning on her own to help them. However when Joel saves her she doesn't just kill him, she brutally tortures him, and we are suppose to empathise with this person.

Waited a long time for this game, now I just don't care, but wonder.......................... is this how Naughty Dog wanted people to feel?

This is simply an awful, awful game. I thoroughly enjoyed the previous TLOU game, but they managed to both ruin the gameplay sections of the game as well as the story elements of the game with some terrible writing, especially towards the end.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The only reason this game is getting higher than a zero is because it looks good for 1 point and Ellie for the other point. Not only did thus game push social political agendas into almost every character trait in a zombie game, but the story is trying so hard to be different that it just feels disconnected from the actuaL universe it’s in. Taking what we loved about the first game. Which was the bond between Joel and Ellie, and then smashing it with a golf club from this random new character. THEN making me play as the character that i hate that you attempt to force me to like because her dad was killed, which didn’t work btw i felt nothing for Abby right after she killed Jessie. Another character i like. Then you make me play as her for 10+ HOURS to get me to think she’s interesting. She’s not. Lev is just a plot device used to extend the story. It’s a joke of a story. The revenge plot is kinda dull. But since it’s Ellie and even I’m here wanting to kill these people for killing the main character of the first game right off the bat. I could let the revenge motive slide. The ending was terrible. Never in my life have i seen a more unsatisfying ending. 25+ hours of story just for Ellie to change her mind. Your game is trash. The only reason these critics have this game such a good rating was because they are media. And if you include all these elements that people can side with. (Lesbian couples, trash gender children) they’re gonna want to give it a high score so they aren’t bombed on by the groups that associate with them. I don’t have Abby cause she’s buff or a woman i don’t have lev because he’s trans. I hate them because they are incredibly problematic and the things that they choose to do. I don’t feel anything for either of them. Dina and Jesse were good auditions to the cast. But wait Abby killed him out of nowhere. Thus game builds these relationships then rips them away for the sake of the plot out of nowhere. I enjoyed playing as Ellie. However like half this game is Abby so. Not only will i never play this again because of its terrible story and characters, I’ve already returned it and got my refund cause i felt robbed by the whole experience. Please never buy this game. You will be disappointed Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’m such a big fan of this franchise, I finished the first game for like 6 times already. Such a great game indeed. But this.. The Last of Us Part II is totally a different game story-wise. It did lack character development to the new characters, I haven’t felt any anger or sadness to their deaths except for Lara. The graphics and the gameplay I’ll give it a solid 10/10. The story? It really made the game worst. Full of plot holes, unnecessary flashbacks from Abby & Owen relationship, and of course killing Joel and that disappointing ending. Could’ve been more great if they ended it at the farm. Anyways I’ll give it a 2/10. Props to the team. Expand

When the game was released i selled my ps 3 in hopes to buy ps 4 so i can play last of us 2 but before that in my recomended on youtube there was a video named Joels death scene. My favorite character was joel so i thought they were joking so i wathced the video and realised that the game had realistic graphics but as i said it is not soo important to ave nice graphics it is all about the story. so i didnt want to buy the game or install it even if it was free. The story is really fu*ked up and it is so weird to play as a main villian that killed the main character of the first game. i wathced a gameplay and saw that it is not good. these two points are just for the graphics the story is really bad. I wish they ended the sequal at the first game and just leave the Last of us and the last of us left behind. Those games are truly epic and the last of us part 2 just ruins it. It just ruins story adding a she-hulk kill joel in the most stupid way possible. it whould be ok if they make joels death a little bit better. They made him look stupid in the second. It is just cruel to make a beloved caracther just to be killed later on it is just stupid. And the end is just weird. I really wish that the sequal ended on last os us 1 . It ruins the fact that the last of us was my favorite game and i loved joel as a character. Sorry for my bad english im not from England or Us so im sorry Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game fells nextgen when you play but it never answers the questions it made in the end of the first game.

Ellie is desconstructed as the character we loved and become the angry person blinded by revenge that fells shallow during the gameplay, you care about the old characters, like Joel and Tommy, but it just fails to create bonds with the new, and when its about to do it they kill everyone, they don't expand the lore at all, it fells like they needed make a sequel for the money despite don't having a story for it.

The gameplay its good and the graphics are good also, but the E3 2018 looked better.

Played at PS4 Pro, only runs at 1440p30fps, fans are really loud (console cleaned inside 1 month ago) look as good as GOW but runs at half of the resolution and GOW had a 1080p high Fps mode so i don't know what happened

Play if you want a good post apocalyptic game, if you want a sequel to TLoU 1, its very disapointing

I didn’t feel anything for the characters I hardly paid attention because I was in a rush to continue Ellie’s story and was forced to play as a wwe super star for 10 hours!!! That part really put it in the grave for me it was almost unbearable but I somehow did it, I already have some friends that deleted the game after finding that out.

But in the case you're not ok with the story, you must be a complete troll or hater to give this game a score below 7, because there's no possible discussion this game is absolutely astonishing in all the other areas.

So just applying common sense, if you have a game with a 10 in 3 of 4 areas, even if the story for you score zero, the average will be 7,5.

Ever since before the end credits, The Last Of Us already become my favorite videogame ever. Never I loved a game so much, never felt so close to such intimate characters, trapped by its atmosphere. I wanted to love Part II even more, (and I did with absolute passion) and struggled to keep that feeling until it was impossible.

I have been maturing my opinion on the game for days and like many others I have never decided to write a review on this website until now.

I don't write this to give myself credibility but because apparently nowdays the only authority to opine on a videogame is held by videogame websites, whose only reason to exist is to help selling videogames. According to those media, opinion of real players is pure review-bombing without any value, as they have been unanimously sentencing for weeks all over the internet.

I would like to write in detail about my impressions of the game, but I feel disappointed and emotionally dejected to do that tour again even in my memory.

Furthermore, there is little that has not already been said about the impeccable and unparaleled tecnical work and inmersion feeling Naughty Dog has achieved in this game.

Sadly there is a point when a studio forgets for whom they make videogames and start to be more interested in doing something paradigmatic for the critics, something that nobody dared before, rather than making an actual good videogame for the players. They abandoned the philosophy that made them great, poisoned with ambition.

"This is for the players" says Sony. Well, it looks like this is more for themselves, for Naugty Dog to become industry-revolutionary at any cost. It's impossible that most of the players enjoyed this game.

Is the result of a Neil Druckmann drunk with success from the masterpiece he created 7 years ago. His ego now out of any prudence that contained it, and allowed him to make a game with his audience in mind. His glory became more important than his characters who are mistreated in a cruel, unfair and cheap way to achieve no effect on the player other than depression and hate. A hatred feeling he immediately makes sure of making you feel guilty about. That intention is very obvious to the spectator from the very first moment due to the very obvious, easy and little elaborated narrative resources usted to that end.

Nor did George Martín, whom Neil seems to aspire to compare, dared to go that far with his main characters.

The team will indeed be remembered in videogame history for breaking the fourth wall in an innovative way. But that at the cost of emotionally harming the players, miserably mistreating perfect and beloved characters and destroying a masterpiece out of pure ambition.

I do not think it's dishonest to score so low even when the game is inpeccable in many tecnical aspects, in the same way that in an exam a single critical unacceptable error can invalidate many right answers. This way, my score is solely due to the sensations I experienced playing this game, a depression and disappointment which last even today and that no game ever caused me.

Occasione persa

It doesn't feel like last of us, I don't like the story at ail. Ellie is too brave in my opinion which is not real at all. People have too little to no background information. Graphic and music are nice but nothing else. Should be better than this.

Confesso que não me emocionei e nem me prendi muito na história do jogo depois que eu joguei, isso devido de vários spoilers que eu peguei, porém mesmo assim conseguir compreender a proposta da história do jogo, mostrando como o mundo após apocalíptico funciona no The Last of Us, sendo um mundo violento onde as pessoas lutam pra sobreviverem, assim tendo uma boa história.
O game me surpreendeu em tudo. Recomendo muito.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly, i was the biggest fan of the last of us series. When waiting 7 Years for this game I was highly disappointed with what I received. The game was absolutely beautiful, Scenes and graphic were on point and we got to play as Ellie so I thought. This game could of been so much better, Storyline was very badly executed. I remember in the teaser trailer of TLOU2 we saw Ellie and Joel in the overgrown town and myself I was very excited thinking it would be a switch from TLOU1 and we play as Ellie with Joel besides us. Naughty dog milked us into thinking Joel would be with us in the story but into the game they killed him off. I was highly displeased with the trailers as they were just for revenue and sales for this game + the Leaks and all the controversy with this game really let it down.

    2. Abby, Like seriously how many people has Joel killed and you don't see some buff women seeking revenge 2 hours in TLOU2. They dedicated too much time for her in this game as she really did not need to be played by the consumers of this game. It would have been better if we had known she was seeking revenge but no game time should of been put into her. The big issue with this game is they were trying to keep up with modern society and the LGBTQ movement. Though I don't have an issue with Ellie and her Sexuality it was a big let down knowing they had 7 years and the s*x scenes were just horrible and uncalled for + with the whole Abby S*x scene it was the worst thing I've ever seen, Far cry had better scenes. The killing of Joel by Abby could of been a very good Plot for the game. It would give Ellie an excuse to seek revenge for everyone that "wronged her" yeah well the Main person that "wronged you" got a jail free card at the end because you felt bad that Joel would not want you to do this but you have killed 200+ people to get where you are.

At the end of the day, the game was somewhat enjoyable the Ai were super realistic and communicative which I enjoyed + the WLF faction and the Seraphites where something I enjoyed being added. But I think there was more fighting in the factions more than Ellie seeking revenge for Abby killing Joel, therefore, me rating it 2/10 from someone that has played the game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In all sincere fairness, the Last of Us Part II has disappointed me beyond belief. I am so glad that a friend lent me his copy to review the game because I have saved myself $60. The game is extremely mired with Neil Druckmann's political beliefs and the WoRsT DiReCtIoN I have yet to see in a videogame.
For starters, the trailers were purposely misleading and that cannot be ignored because they were advertising a game that people did not receive. I was ready for Joel to die, but the terrible way his death was handled is a "spit in the face" to character everyone grew to care for and love in the original game. I mean this literally, as Druckmann created a character that looks just like him and spits on Joel's face after her gets murdered.
This has to be the Worst Writing In The History of Videogames! That is not an exaggeration. Joel gets murdered by this new character that is forced down your throat and you Do NoT care about at all.
Druckmann tries so hard to make you sympathize with what honestly seems like a Transvestic character, but he fails so hard at it, it is despicable and brutally hilarious at the same time.
In the name of RePrEsAnTaTiOn and his association with Anita Sarkeesian (a person who knows nothing about the videogame fanbase), Druckmann decided to pair you with a TranSexual Child that one also fails to sympathize with since his or her or they or whatever that can be called does not get sufficient screen time nor does it have much of a compelling story that most people playing Last of Us can relate to.
I thought that playing Ellie would be the redeeming quality of the game, but even that turns out terrible with the atrocious story plots involving her like the silliest love triangle, if you can even call it that, I've witnessed portrayed in entertainment.
Some levels are expansive, but become overly repetitive and downright boring after performing the same stealth takedown animation 300 times.
I will say this because others may not have the audacity to, but it needs to be said. The Abby 'Transvestic' and Owen sex scene that Sony and Naughty Dog have forced/coerced players to watch is dowrnight Disgusting, it is Gross, and Laughable. The irony is that Sony censored Trish's buttcrack in Devil May Cry 5, but they want you to see manly **** rubbing against another dude. Something is going terribly wrong at Sony Headquarters and Naughty Dog needs to get rid of Druckmann if they want to stay relevant because Last of Us Part II has sent them down the rabbit hole.
It is so crazy that I have to write this about a company and a developer that I admired for so long.
Something changed, and it has changed for the WoRsT!

Pros: the game has pretty graphics
Mixed: Somewhat-decent gameplay (not much evolution from original)
Cons: Worst story ever; Force-fed Druckmann politics; androgynous character faces; worst revenge plot; Joel dies; You play Ellie only half the game; You have to play with a Transvestic character and have a TranSexual child for a partner; Gross uncensored transvestic nudity.

You get the gist of this review. The Cons outweigh anything remotely positive by 9000.

Last of Us Part II is the stairway to doom for Sony and Naughty Dog.

Last of Us Part II turned out more like End of Us Part II.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Just finished The Last of Us part II and I’d give it a 9.5/10. If this game could be described as a quote it would be “An eye for eye ends up making the whole world blind.” This game beautifully captures the brutality of never ending violence In part II the story gives real consequences to each characters actions. People who hate the story simply don’t understand its message or are obnoxiously in love with a character and never want to see harm done to them (which is extremely childish). ‬

The Last of Us I & II are games where people die. It’s a violent, scary, and brutal world. Giving a character never ending luck not only discredits the story but is a slap in the face to fans. Joel and Ellie are NOT immortal. Get over it. ‬

Bringing back the theme of never ending violence (a cycle of violence). Joel and Ellie are beloved characters but they are by no means good people. They’ve both killed innocent people.‬

Did Joel deserve what happened to him? If you say no then let me ask you this did all those fireflies deserve to die? Did the world deserve to be robbed of their chance at curing the world? Millions of lives for Ellie’s life? Is that fair? That’s why this story is so good. ‬

This story is so good because if you put yourself in the shoes of any one of these characters you can find a way to justify their actions.‬

If you’re Joel: you lost Sarah and didn’t have the chance to save her. With Ellie you have a chance to save her and you love her like she’s your daughter. As Joel you can easily justify every action he made. ‬

If you’re Abby: your father was murdered by a man who killed most of the fireflies. You want justice to be served. As Abby you’re justified in your actions. ‬

If you’re Ellie: you’re father figure and a man you love dearly was beaten to death in front of you, BRUTALITY. You want revenge. You will kill anyone and do anything to get justice (sounds familiar? Abby was on the same mission). As Ellie you’re justified in your actions. ‬

The ending of the game and the reason Ellie didn’t go through with killing Abby is because if she did 1 it wouldn’t bring Joel back and 2 it would just continue the cycle of violence. Ellie understood why Abby was after Joel. Ellie could see herself in Abby. ‬

If we were to never start out as Joel and Ellie but as Abby we would view Ellie as the ‘bad guy’. They did an amazing job with this story. ‬

The game was great. It was not SJW trash. It didn’t push any sort of SJW narrative. Most of the Hate about the game is blown out of proportion. It’s a game you have to experience.

Last of us 2 как раз из таких. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Auténtica obra maestra. 10/10 Historia: 10/10

I found myself jumping off of cliffs as Abby because I just hate her. On top of that, it makes me cringe at how hard they are trying to get you to like Abby and hate Ellie. The story, plot, and character development in this game is backwards and confusing. Other elements such as audio and gameplay are great, and this game has the best visuals I have ever seen. First of all i would like to start by saying that i have never done a review (of any game) in my life. I am not biased towards saying the same as any other group out there, I just feel like I need to give my own opinion.
When the game was firstly announced i was thrilled and could not wait a second more to get my hands on it. The first game was a masterpiece storywise, despite having clunky controls and mechanics. Until the last of us part 2 was launched i managed to steer clear of any story leaks because i wanted to enjoy the game at its full potential. Unlike other reviews out there, i fully completed the game so i consider my review to be relevant.
The last of us part 2 is a disappointment in the only area that mattered - STORY. After playing the first installment you will realize how smoothly and realistic the relationship between Ellie and Joel becomes throughout the game. Every character in the first game is well written and even if he has little time screen, he is still well drawn. In the sequel, all the chemistry is lost. I reckon that by now everyone has either played or watched someone play the last of us part 2 so people know that Joel dies in the worst way possible. I think that Neil Druckmann does not understand the fury of the fans: its not that they killed Joel, but his death felt like the work of someone who got bored of writing and just wanted to be done with it. The moment is sudden, does not fit with what gamers expected and it absolutely does not fit with how we know Joel would act in that instance.
I know that Neil called his fans bigots because he thinks that the whole population is against lesbianism; most of us allready knew from the "Left Behind" DLC that Ellie had different views and we had no problem with that, mostly because the way it was presented made sense and did not feel forced. In TLOU2 you are forced to play with Dina as a sidekick because the producer wanted to show us the difficulty of being a same sex couple in a world that never exists in real life. There were hundreds of different ways to send this message without feeling force fed to us. As a matter of fact, i didn't even like Dina that much because it always felt like her dramas were everyone's dramas.
There are not all negatives of course: the game mechanics are an improvement from the first game, graphics are top notch and the overall feeling of the surrounding world and how you interact with it is great. Unfortunately this is all the positives i have to say about this game. The game was too long and considering that this is not a Rockstar production then i don't see a point in making a 20-30 hour long story. Abby's story was not nearly as bad as people critic it but I think playing as her is unnecessary. What they tried to do in her side of the story is connect her with another character the same way as Joel and Ellie connected. I would call this a dualism as both stories flow the same way (main protagonist finds a sidekick that he/she cares about, they go on an adventure riddled with obstacles and so on). i would also call this laziness in writing but I acknowledge the fact that I might be wrong.
The ending is where the biggest difference is made. Had it not been for it, the game would have been a 7, or even an 8, but how the story finishes is just awful. It again feels as if they were taking too long to finish the game and just wanted to be over with. The developers wanted to make us understand that violence gets us nowhere and they are right, but not in a video-game. If i play something i want to do stuff that i wouldn't in the real world. So to put me in the middle of a fight and then stop because Ellie's conscious kicked in is just stupid and anti-climactic.
Last but not least I despise how Ellie is depicted - it feels totally out of place; from the girl that had funny remarks when faced with death, she turned into a regretting, sobbing character that feels as if she gave up. The most annoying part is near the end, where she has been drawn to resemble a hillbilly. She looks as if she drinks during the day and smokes near children. Yikes. Honestly she looks as if she gave up on life just to raise a child. Furthermore she dresses like she is about to go to a country festival in a beat up town.
To conclude, i think that there is still room to recover from this huge blow. What needs to be done is to fire that smug faced Druckmann, and go and beg Bruce Straley to come back and direct. If NaughtyDog wants to be the game-studio of choice for the consumers, then it should do as the consumer directs and not think about being politically correct. Even though there are many more to say ( like miss-directing the customer through advertising or how they said you don't have to kill a dog but you still have to) I think that this game is a total let-down. If the first game's story was all about "It can't be all for nothing" The Last of Us 2 story's is "it is all for nothing". Overall the game deserves a 6 out of 10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. While not *quite* as tight in its storytelling as the first game (both Abby and Ellie’s individual sections drag a little) the ambition of this sequel is incredible and something that I haven’t seen in a story-driven game to this level before. Naughty Dog took risks in their storytelling that ultimately paid off in their intention to make an entire player-ship question their motives and morals throughout. For all of the complaints about this being a game that ‘disrespects’ Joel, ultimately this wound up being a love-letter to Joel, while somehow simultaneously understanding how his actions could drive somebody to revenge, allowing us to understand their motives at the same time. Gameplay is much improved from the first, with general encounters being considerably more engaging, and set-pieces, especially the Scar Island Escape allowing for the gameplay to be leagues ahead of the first game. It’s also beautiful enough to almost qualify as next-hen, and ultimately will be remembered as *the* game of this generation of PlayStation games. Masterpiece. Expand

I'm sorry, but I can say only one thing about this game. This is a fkn piece of sh*t. I used to be a fan of Naughty Dog, very big fan. Ofc I was very huge lover of TLOU, but second part is really such a sh*t, that I threw my PS 4 Pro in garbage container and that isn't joke. I bought it only because of TLOU 2 and they destroyed my favourite game... Thank you, don't buy this piece of crap...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Finished the game. Having been developing indie video games for almost 9 years, I can confirm that although the graphics, sound design, gameplay mechanics, and the soundtrack is 10/10, the way that the story is implemented is not good at all. If you're planning to kill a legendary character(you don't actually have to), kill it in a legendary way. Joel is a character that everyone loves and cares about. People who have waited for 7 years for this game are disappointed and the game is not worth a dime from their perspective. This game is a storytelling game and without a proper story, even though all the aspects are perfect, it doesn't appeal to us. We should not be forced to play as a character that we don't like either. This game could've been at least a tiny bit better if it gave us choices at the critical points along with the story so that we could either save Joel or lose him because of making a mistake. There are many games out there that implemented the butterfly effect. No doubt that Naughty Dog could've done it as well. I guess it's all the director's fault. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I never thought I would ever say in my life that I hate The Last of us. They took everything that made the first one a masterpiece and just threw it in the trashcan. This is a failure in storytelling a disrespectful to the OG one and to us the players. Nothing makes sense. The whole game just tries to introduce us to a new character without giving it any dimension while the game tries super hard to just trash Elie for no reason. If at least they tried to give Abby dimension, character development instead of just making her a zebra savior and dog person. I can't believe they managed to ruin this game. I was defending the game until half when I saw that instead of choosing the path of good writing they chose the path of trying to manipulate the players. This is one of the most poorly written game I have ever played and the biggest game disappointment ever. I'm mad I threw my money away for that crappy game. I will never buy an ND game ever again. What they did is just so disrespectful to all the players who waited sooo long for this second part to happen. It's just a big slap in the face. Expand

The gameplay was fun at times (around 1/8th of the game), the AI were smarter than in the last game, and it is visually pleasing. So, I will rate it a 3 just for that alone. but... the story and the golf club just ruined it all. If I were to rate it on the story alone, it would get an honest 0. It wasn't the politics or social commentary that was in the game that ruined it for me. I just wish Joel was around a LOT more, and if we just had to play as Abby, play her in the beginning so you can actually get to sympathize with her instead of having her almost immediately murder a beloved character in her introduction. Did a child mess with the storyboard? Expand

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
