    This game is a masterpiece. It's a shame all these right wing snowflakes are so triggered because someone in a video game is different than them.     For me this game is an absolute masterpiece, regardless what others say about it (cuz the most of them didn‘t even finished the game), after RDR2 i thought no game can ever could break me like this again but naughty dog did it. No game got me this emotional like TLOU2! Also everyone which say the story is bad, didn‘t even understood the whole point about the story.

    It’s important to realise that we went into the first game with no idea of what we wanted it to be. For this outing, expectations were high for a game which would appease fans of the first. By deciding to take the story to places which we thought it never could go, Naughty Dog has delivered a controversial game with polarising opinions. The game makes you experience a wide range of emotions, it makes you feel like a god walking through the streets of Santa Barbra whom kills everything in her path, sometimes you have to mourn the loss of one of the greatest father figures in gaming. Let’s get real for a minute. Everyone dies at some point in their life, someone who dislikes the game simply because of Joel’s death, playing as Abby, not killing Abby, or any other reason out there, is just stupid. Characters evolve, things change, and sometimes you find yourself loving a monster. Emmy winning writers, and people who review games for a living are praising this game, giving it 10s and calling it game of the year. One out of three average human beings are mentally challenged.     Just to make a little disclaimer, writing this test hurts me in my flesh. I wouldn’t be able to express the ways the first game, it’s world, it’s characters, it’s story and it’s music ( good lord, it’s music ) touched and influenced me.

    I feel like saying this is unnecessary but due to the controversy about bad faith downvotes this game gets I guess I have to do it.

    To establish this right away, from a technical point of view, this game is a MASTERPIECE. Regarding all the working methods controversy the development had, what the developers achieved here brings them to the top of the industry. Hats off to them.

    Now, WHY has this game failed to me?

    It would be tempting to say that the game actually “failed me”, that the game is simply not what I wanted, but I wouldn’t agree, and like to prove it in 2 points:

    * During these 7 years, I imagined everything that could possibly happen to our beloved characters, and mostly when Druckmann and Baker started warning us by saying “ This will be a divisive story “ or “ Don’t expect to relive the first game “, my body was ready. In fact, every key plot of the game was expected.

    1- Remember the first 2016 trailer? Everyone was guessing that the Joel asking if Ellie was “really gonna go through with this” was a reminiscent image coming to Ellie’s mind.

    2- When later on it was revealed that the game was gonna be about the cycle of hate and PERSPECTIVE, we pretty much foresaw that we would be brought to requestion our beliefs by putting ourselves in the shoes of Ellie’s wrongdoers.

    Now, HOW has the game failed to me?

    Actually, it concerns these exact two points.

    1- Joel’s death: Now, I won’t go to the extremes of thinking they meant to disrespect him with the crazy theories of the Druckmann looking guy spitting on him.

    I understand that this death HAD to be brutal in order to put us in a grieving storm to put us in a raging hate towards the killers, but how this death has been brought up simply ruins the effect and just keeps us wondering why it had to happen LIKE THAT rather than why did it have to happen to Joel?

    I can’t accept it. How the hell does this vicious and clever smuggler had to get ambushed surrounded by armed nobodies while he’s randomly in the middle of them scratching his ass? And please don’t tell me “ well, he got soft with these years of peace. “, this argument wouldn’t have any backup for that and even Druckmann hinted the opposite by saying that a place like Jackson needs “ killers like Joel”.

    2- Now once again I have to point out that to the really end of the game, I was all in for it. The totally absurd conditions of Joel death were thrown in the back of my head, and I kept going on.

    As said earlier, I knew that I was gonna be brought to live Abby’s side of the story, and knowing that the game was meant to blur the lines of who is the good and the bad of this story, the game had a critical duty to create the empathy necessary to bring us to that uncertain point of the final battle

    And unfortunately, although I had sympathy for Abby, I was nowhere near getting a dilemma at the end, since the characters didn't have much susbtance beside their function: One is a worried son, another is pregnant and hates Abby, Abby is a " garbage" although nothing comes backing this up ( unlike Joel who knew for the first game's ambush because .. ).

    The worst part is that they even made Ellie so distant and bleak that at the ending battle, I wasn't wondering on which side I was, but I just knew that I hated Ellie AND Abby.

    We are left with nothing in the end. A dark game so badly written that it seems that it's just for the sake of being dark.

    Wasn't a fan of the way joel was killed but all around enjoyed the game definitely a story of revenge that is ment to make u angry and to try to get u to sympathize with both sides and to show that revenge is an unending cycle and if u continue on that path u could lose everything great gameplay and beautiful graphics

    Game looks and plays amazing. Any fan of the first game is in for an emotional onslaught. Also paints a vivid picture for the "human condition" and makes you question your own morality and think of who the actual "good guys" are in a scenario. I'm beyond impressed. Can't wait to see the multiplayer when it drops.

    3.IT’S A FREAKING TREND TO HATE TLOU2 - I don't know why but that’s true. Some people are rating 0 on metacritic only because of leaks, they didn’t even played it.

    What we love most about first part? Joel’s and Ellie’s relationship. It would be awesome to see that in second part, but we didn’t wait 7 years for that. We were waiting for a game with best graphics, gameplay, story and we did get that! Plus we got a small, fantastic episode of good old Joel and Ellie.
    Why can’t you just put aside emotional luggage from the first part and just play?
    This game doesn’t deserve fu**in deserve 4.4...Naughty dog doesn’t deserve this hate...    … Expand

Don’t judge this off of review bombs by people that didn’t play the game. Metacritic should require you to post a picture of your physical/digital copy of this game in order to review it. Watching a spoiler montage completely out of context or watching a blabbing YouTuber or Twitch streamer pandering to an audience of gamers that want to hate the game isn’t gonna cut it. You have to experience this thing in its entirety yourself. This is truly a masterclass in story and game design.… Expand

    I finished it now. Man, what an experience. Truly. A roller coaster of emotions. I'm so glad i didn't spoil myself with the leaks. If i did knew them i probably would have been mad too. But without knowing them i experienced something like never before and it was amazing. It makes me a little bit sad that so many are thinking differently. But i can understand them a little bit. For meI finished it now. Man, what an experience. Truly. A roller coaster of emotions. I'm so glad i didn't spoil myself with the leaks. If i did knew them i probably would have been mad too.     I've been a big fan of TLOU, i was so excited for the sequel, and all the hype, until the leaks came out by one person and the internet was, y'know, rage. But I've managed to escape all spoilers i can, after i beat the game. I feel nothing, so i gave it a another try, and then something inside me changed, and i finally understand the story, because i went open-minded this time. And then iI've been a big fan of TLOU, i was so excited for the sequel, and all the hype, until the leaks came out by one person and the internet was, y'know, rage. But I've managed to escape all spoilers i can, after i beat the game. I feel nothing, so i gave it a another try, and then something inside me changed, and i finally understand the story, because i went open-minded this time. And then i played it again the third time, and then something strikes at me, i was feeling, so, emotionally, never, not a single game made me physically emotionally and it changed me so much, I'm more social now around my family members, and i love talking about the game with them, cause it changed my life, like forever. I just wanna say, thank you Naughty Dog for a masterpiece once again and thank you for changed me into a better person. Thank you.… Expand

    Never before have i experienced something like this. ND really knows what they're doing and how to trigger the emotions that they want to trigger. Amazing how a game teaches you a few lessons along the way and forces you to look in the mirror having to admit to yourself that you might have been wrong before. An experience i'll never forget.

    Todo o ódio que esse jogo está recebendo é totalmente injusto. Seus gráficos são os mais reias que existem, jogabilidade incrível, cenários de tirar o fôlego, é uma obra prima. A história não é nada do que se esperava, talvez seja por isso que eu amei, e muitos odiaram, porque não é nada clichê! Pra mim não tinha como ser diferente, mas o ódio é desnecessário, muitos não foram justos comTodo o ódio que esse jogo está recebendo é totalmente injusto. Puedo decir que no está ni cerca de lo que esperaba.     Great gameplay, terrible history. Regardless of the death of one of the best characters in the game, the ending leaves a lot to be desired. I would not recommend the plot, it seems that it was written by a person who hates the original game, very bad development of Ellie's character. On the other hand the character of Abby very "chetado" seems a superhero instead of a human.

Naughtdog forgot the Tlou 1? And how Joel is? You guys destroy the caracter for us fans, simply destroy like a peace of garbage, changing the way he are, a man strong and who doesn't trust anyone, thats we will NEVER forgive. And another thing that destroyed the game is force the players to like a caracter like Abby, with have no carism at all, a cold person, that kill her friends of group in the end of the game like its a easy thing to do.     The gameplay is good but not a big enough change to make it stand out. Graphics are great with a big jump from TLOU1. But the bad review from this comes down to the decisions made with the story. The decisions made destroyed what made the first game amazing and I believe the decisions made were not the right ones.

I felt so many emotions while playing and loved the relationships shown between Ellie/Dina and Ellie/Joel and how they developed. The gameplay was polished and fun, with cool animations and satisfying sound design. The settings were also diverse and you can really optimize what kind of challenge you want when playing. The story was suspenseful and bittersweet. However, if I’m going to nitpick the story did have some holes. Off the top of my head I can think of a few, such as why weren’t Joel and Tommy more cautious around Abby and her friends? They’ve lived a long time in a post-apocalyptic world and have wronged many, so I don’t think they’d be so open to share personal info. Also, I can understand how Tommy would turn spiteful in the end of the game, but if felt sudden and out of nowhere. It felt out of character to be that harsh towards Ellie. Maybe if we saw more development with Tommy and his anger towards Joel’s death it wouldn’t be surprising. Overall though I have very few gripes with the game and consider it a work of art. Just because the story didn’t always go the way I wanted to doesn’t make it a bad game. Although I still feel resentment towards Abby and will defend Joel for his actions, I was relieved that Ellie spared Abby in the end. Not for Abby’s sake, but for Ellie’s. She found her peace with Joel and realized she didn’t have to kill Abby to do it. The fight at the end showed how exhausting holding on to the pain and anger was, when neither of them truly wanted to continue. Ok that’s my rambling for today. Great game. Highly recommend.… Expand

    - Total disrespect with one of the two protagonist: the way Joel died (I could just stop here because it was ridiculous). Totally ambiguous about the way his personality was in the first game and now - the precautions he would take. Being rejected by Ellie for years after telling her the truth.

    - Major disrespect with the other of the two protagonists: killing a lot of people, losing two fingers and being unable to play guitar properly (it being Joel's legacy to her); getting a friend shot in the head in front of her; having her loved and pregnant girlfriend being threatened in front of her eyes and unable to do nothing to stop it; getting her 'uncle' shot and physically debilitated also in front of her; and goes without saying, watching Joel get massacred in front of her eyes also being unable to do anything.

    I'll try to make it in actual short points because these negative things are just so ridiculous that, as you can see, I got driven by them.

    - They screwed the relation between Ellie and Joel, which was what the fans loved. I mean, it there, but like I said, it's just a slice and it's completely shadowed by the rest of the trash writing.
    - Players forced to play as Abby, forced to see her as a 'not too bad person that tried to redeem herself and didn't deserve to die' at the end. I mean, all I wanted was to kill her at some point. And you tell me that this is about realism? It's a game, the point of it is exactly to do things as far as our fantasy and the game can lead us. But this one don't let you go too far about this because of some sort of 'Joel wouldn't want me to do this' ethics. Joel literally just murdered hundreds to save Ellie, and certainly would go way more far than Tommy torturing some guys to revenge Ellie if it was the opposite.

    - Have I said that Ellie just lose two fingers?
    - I cant do this anymore. What a way to do a disgrace in comparison with the masterpiece first game.

    Technical score: 9/10
    Writing/Story score: 2/10 (1 point, that slice of a beautiful scene between them and 1 point because I also liked the relation between Ellie and Dina, and also because how they did look Tommy at that sniping chasing scene, just showing how brutal he is - by the way, they just butchered these things too: 1) Dina couldn't stand Ellie leaving again and 2) they physically disabled Tommy and he lost his wife - I mean, at this point just looked like they where trying to put as much terrible things as possible to give any sense of drama? It ended up being ridiculous after all.

    Assuming that story has more 'score weigh' than technical score, I'd give this game a,

    We as Player, as Joel, have judged all of humankind to die under Zombies just so we can be happy with Ellie, why shut we start caring for our Enemies?
    The Carakte felt no loger the same. Joel was easely exekutet and Ellie no longef feld the same.
    Abby rund the game 10h of something i don't care about.
    Cons:
    1. in my eyes the trailer implied that Ellie's girlfriend will be killed and Jole and Ellie go to avenge here. I bought the game expecting Joel to die in the end ore give him a minigfull end, the chance to lay our live down for Ellie maybe.
    2. The start is good, i don't remember to mutch. What I do remember is that I hade a bead feeling withe Abby. From the first time, the saw the City that sadly never left. Even thou it was spouse to change in the 10 + hours game time. with only 3 likable side Characters, the Mel, Leve, Yara, whas it way to long and dragt out i skipt nearly all the cut scenes because i was so bord and wanted beck to the real story of ellie not knowing that Abby wut last 10h. (i realy dilikte playing as Abby whitch let to disinterest in the story).
    3. Joels death made me feel empty no faith no noting just butchered in front of Ellie. It felt random and lackluster, there was no will for vengeance, just disepeutment.
    4. Instead of Joel we go out whit Dina where we get some sweet romantic interactions, who in my eyes wher dullt, because Joel was supposed to go whit Ellie.
    5. The on of romance with Dina and Jesse was to mutch, it made me question (like Joel) the intentions of Dina and if they were genuine.
    6. Playing Abby against Ellie was *****, It felt forced and as Player you felt as if you were Playing out a bad dream. You only Play in hopes it will come to a and where you whin (Ellie wins) but that never happens. I have trite to Kill Abby but nothing changes.
    7. Tommy gets to live an Joel is dead.... Make Joel appear and then go to kill Abby then 8/10 game.
    8 The ending feels disgusting, the last of us made you feel something. 2 it is just sadness ore noting. Molstly confugen or noting the hole game trou. The end wher you just fell sad and emty is not a Game i what to play

    1 Ellies face looks so goofy in the flashbacks just jus the old model.
    2 I miss breaking looks, save feels repetitive mix it up with both.

    4 Whapans where not rewording and ammo where to scars at the end. Rushing the Hospital as Joel with an MP was fun. As Ellie, there was no ammo even thou you got an Mp what was in the fits game the sine to go hame on people. Felt to slow ant to repetitive. To many carts, they felt spammy.
    5. boss fits felt sometimes random and the big Zombies was not intuitive. I failt a lot bevor i randomly hotshotet on hade on the Zomby 2 sek after a new try it felt not rewording.

    7. Boss Zomby was to dark no way to mover felt frustrating and luck. The last of us 1 Sports hall was brigt and easier to understand.

The experience the character got in the first game was gone, vanish into thin air and all we got is stupid character. They really think it's a good think to play as the killer after they killed one of the favorite character? Talk about stupid writing. All fans want a good story, not a bad one, if you give bad syory you are ready to get bad reviews. "You can't get the ending you want" yeah? Then why are you complaining when us fans say bad thing about the game, if we don't get what we deserve(a good story writing) then this game is as good as dead. The way Ellie leave Abby for something called "revenge is bad" is sooooooo stupid, it was used many times now and was so generic. The puzzle phases are so much better than in the first game and more diverse with the ropes, the jumps, all the windows you can go through. The maps are much more open (at least during the first half of the game) with a lot of things you can easily miss if you go in a straight line (pretty much every weapon and upgrades can be missed). The ambient music works really well to raise the tension. The facial animations combined with the acting make every character look so real, you can read everything on their faces. The accessiblity options also are unrivaled. To sum it up, everything is really, really good and if you liked the first game I don't see how you can dislike this one based on everything I just mentioned.

    Now, for the controversial aspect, the story. It is incredible. However, the game does not go easy on you. At all. Prepare to be upset several times. That said, the hard parts are there for a reason and not for shock value. They make sense. And they make more and more sense the further you go in the story, and take into account every character's motivations. The story in itself is simple but emotionally complicated, a lot more than the first game's that is very straightforward. If you haven't read any spoiler, the better because ouf of context any story can look bad, hell the first game's story can hold on a post-it note. Around mid-game, something happens. If you can get over it and just enjoy the ride, you will love this game. The second half of the game probably is my favorite part because of the weapons you have and the environments you go through as well as the dialogs.

    I am sorry to say it, but I think that a lof of hateful reviews are left by people that are either not emotionally mature (the game is supposed to be 18+ remember ?) ,or mad that this game's story is not what they wanted, or they just decided that they hated the game before they even played it. La trama es buena, pero quizá yo hubiera acortado algo el juego, ya que al final se hace algo tedioso y estás deseando que acabe. Los gráficos son espectaculares y la movilidad es bastante continuista respecto al primero, pero con toques más impredecibles. Las batallas son más tensas ya que la IA ha mejorado bastante. A parte de que los enemigos interaccionan más y eso le da mucha vida y tensión.

    Tras acabarlo, me queda un sentimiento de vacío emocional por las decisiones que toman las protagonistas. Siento que el ciclo de venganza ha terminado y que cada una ha sufrido las consecuencias de sus actos. No es el final que esperaba (feliz), pero no me desagrada. A día de hoy, sigo digiriendo las decisiones finales de Ellie y el final de esta historia.

It's shocking and surprising and I feel like it's a good continuation to the previous game (some people were expecting a fairy tale for real? :p)

    They killed everything that made the first game good. Replaced it with some underdeveloped characters such as Dina Jesse... They lied promoting the game. Such an awful hypocritical stunt to be pulled off. This game actually deserves -10 because of the lies Naughty Dog told to us .

    I’m glad I didn’t buy it for what I saw and see the leaks for this game Is absolutely trash none of the mess in the game didn’t match the story from the last one all they did was say in sugar coated way home is revenge is bad

    This game is a masterpiece. Gorgeous storytelling, gorgeous graphics, gorgeous gameplay. I've been trying to understend the people who are disappointed, but theyìir arguments always make no sense to me. The sound like crybabies, or rather racist, homofobic, toxic people, who know nothing about storytelling pretending they do. Do yourself a favor, and play this game if you played the first one

    Started playing at the time of release. Reached the end in 2 days. This is the best work in the last 7 years. Thank. I am still impressed. I registered here for the first time due to the fact that I see injustice.

    It is nothing short of being a masterpiece, as it is incredibly brave with it’s storytelling. The greatest part is that it offers perspective like no other game has done before.
    Cancel Culture can’t and won’t ruin this game as it is an epic emotional journey like no other.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. And nothing the circle closes .... finished the last of us part 2 .... Naughty Dog, LLC never banal.
    Undisputed masterpiece playful video of all time (for me of course), soundtrack hit the spot, full of feeling hate and pain, it seemed to see a movie where you empathized with every single character you knew going forward with the story.
    they connected very well the end of the first chapter with the second, I twisted my nose a bit with the introduction of the second main character at the beginning but then I understood the reason for this addition (abbey)
    -final (spoiler alert)
    ellie cannot kill abbey because she can empathize with her even when she has killed her "father". she sees joel in her, abbey saves lev and ellie remembers that figure as if she were joel ... fantastic!
    Well what to say I'm sorry I finished it ...
    I hope to see other titles like that on your part

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
