    An absolute amazing game. You thought one was good, well two is even better! The graphics are insane, the story telling is beautiful. Honestly 10/10 game!

    I still feel that the first game is better, narrative-wise, but gameplay was improved throughout.

    From animations to gunplay and especially the semi-open world areas. The narrative, although a simple revenge story, does confront the player with quite a horrific question. Is revenge justifiable?

    Un gioco che nelle cose che fa le fa al meglio, una trama matura e scritta alla perfezione dall’inizio alla fine, 30 ore di gioco curate nel minimo dettaglio, ti fa provare emozioni incredibili dall’inizio alla fine, migliore al primo in tutti gli aspetti. Chi lo critica semplicemente non è abbastanza maturo da affrontare un’esperienza così profonda.

    It's a gritty revenge story and it does a lot of the things you expect from a revenge story, but it does this better than any game I've ever played and takes a lot of risks which 100% pay off. The tone and visual style are perfect, the gameplay is gripping and very deep. The narritive of the game sucked me in completely, I was totally invested. And the game took that and turned it on itsIt's a gritty revenge story and it does a lot of the things you expect from a revenge story, but it does this better than any game I've ever played and takes a lot of risks which 100% pay off. The tone and visual style are perfect, the gameplay is gripping and very deep. The narritive of the game sucked me in completely, I was totally invested. And the game took that and turned it on its head in a way that only a video game could.
    On a technical level the game is phenominal. The sound design is the best in any game I've played. It is breathtakingly beautiful at points and oppresively bleak at others and uses this combined with the sound design for excellent narritive effect. The gameplay is awesome too: combat feel excellent, exploring is exciting, crafting and survival mechanics are satisfying but with a level of tension to them, because the everpresent scarcity in your resources, and theres even a few enjoyable puzzles in it.
    The emotional impact the story had on me was really surprising as I don't usually feel affected by games, films etc. I'm a huge fan of the first game and love the characters but throughout the 25 hours I played it for, I felt genuine excitement, joy, fear and even shed actual tears. This is because the characters are fantastically well rounded and empathetic, even as they make bad decisions I understood their motivations and their complex and flawed personalities. In addition to that the game has probably the best representation of women, minorities and queer people in any big budget game that I know of and I respect Naughty Dog so much for doing that.    … Expand

    I want to love this game. I want to tell you that it is the perfect followup to the lives of the characters we love so much. The game starts and at first you are blown away by the exquisite details of the world, the graphics make the first game look almost basic in caparison. As the game progresses, a few less than enjoyable moments take place and the main theme of the game is revealed.I want to love this game. The next 10 or so hours, the gameplay and story actual becomes very exciting and engaging, the pace climbs to what feels like the climax and then.. you are brought back and all that building fizzles away. For the next 10 hours of the game you are forced to push yourself through one of the most tedious character arks of any game i have ever played. All combat had zero anxiety or stress as there is no incentive to want to survive. By the end of it you are forced to destroy everything you cherished from the first game. After all that you have to experience the longest finales of any game (seriously think lord of the rings extended edition level of ending) only to be left with zero closure, zero replay value and a sad feeling of waste as the game managed to prove multiple times that it could have been great. I dont know if it was laziness or an attempt to be extra hipster but all i do know is after waiting 7 years for this, i wont be waiting a second for TLOU3… Expand

    People are idiots and just following a trend, its a fantastic game with an incredible story with gorgeous environments and incredible gameplay. It might not be your cup of tea if you don't enjoy games with a good narrative or espionage kind of gameplay at times but if you genuinely enjoyed the 1st game youll enjoy this one just as much or maybe more.

I have to wonder, in a world where characters can shrug off being shot, crawl & run for hours without tiring and can build gun modifications from scraps, why is it only the depression that needs to be realistic?
    Either way, I returned my copy and put the money towards something else.
    If this is the quality of their products going forward then there will be no more Naughty Dog for me.    … Expand

    And let's move on the the problem. The story is a complete mess. There's a lot of it that doesn't convey what ND wanted to convey, it does not work at all.
    There's a lot of plot contrivances that ask a monumental amount of suspension of disbelief from the player.
    There's also the fact that the ending is the most nonsensical and ridiculous thing I've ever seen, it has no believability whatsoever and leaves the game as a crushing and unsatisfying experience that I will never want to replay and would trade in immediately if I hadn't got it digitally -_-.

    I could go into more detail about all of this, and probably should, but I really think spoilers should never be part of any kind of review. Let's just say, that when all is said and done, it completely negates any enjoyment all the good parts bring, and I cannot imagine who ever thought this was anything but bad and ham-fisted writing.    … Expand

    Utterly amazing. I was managed to stay away from the leaks and not read any reviews or posts about this prior to playing thankfully. Played the first one and the dlc for the 5th time through then started II up.

    If you like the first game and you want to pick up where that one left off then this game isn't for you. It's absolute trash compared to the first game. One of the main characters from the first game is so blatantly disrespected I feel like I was watching the Last Jedi all over again where they ruined the Skywalkers.

    Joel die in a stupid way, then when you use Ellie to revenge, next second, Bang, you need to control Abby for 10 hours and bit up Ellie.
    Finally, can you kill Abby? NO, Ellie decide to forget Abby. So, Ellie end up losing 2 fingers, go back to an empty house, cant even play the guitar which Joel gave her.
    So that mean, Abby revenge is Okay, Ellie revenge is Bad?

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The last of us part II truly changed the way I look at games. This was not only a game but a cinematic masterpiece. I loved the gameplay so much but I was extremely excited to get to the next cutscene. Ellie’s journey through Seattle really tested me. I began to see Ellie not as the sweet yet brutal little girl she was in the first game. This game really shines the light on her brutal side excluding some light moments with Dina. When the game switched over to abby I was a little frustrated. I don’t want to play through the her whole side of the story. But as it went along, I began to enjoy it more and more. The introduction of uses and lev really put the cherry on top for abbys side. At the end of the game I was heartbroken for Ellie. I wanted the best for her and to see what happened to her really hurt me. But as I digested the story I understood that Ellie really deserved what happened. I understood that Ellie, Abby, and Joel all did things that were awful. I still like Ellie more than abby but I was able to understand Abby more than I ever thought I would. The last of us part II is truly a masterpiece. A huge congratulations to Neil and the whole team at naughty dog. You have accomplished something no other game has ever done for me. I have never felt more emotion in a game then I did in this one. Bravo naughty dog, bravo.… Expand

I expected this game to be a great thriller which focuses on zombies and cure...But what the fck u guys have done is not acceptable ...I never in my life reviewed or commented on a bad game.But last of US is soo close to my heart and I can’t be withoutI started my ps4 life with last of us .I loved the game for the way you guys made me feel...Now u want to kill it using a humanoid robot ? The combat interactions are so realistic, you sometimes feel a sense of stress whenHands down one of the most emotional and gut wrenching game I ha e ever played. What made them so special was the relationship between Joel and Ellie. I didn’t like the pacing, the story, or delivery of this game. I hate that Joel died so early so every flashback was me just wishing he didn’t die. Ellie became an almost unlikeable character for me. The revenge plot just didn’t flow good. Abby feels like she was added for the wrong reasons. Idk. Loved the first game. I hope naughty dog learns from this game.… Expand

    This game has the best graphics to date, the combat is slightly above the original game but the story is awful. Naughty dog missed the heart and soul of the original game, the pacing is off, combat is repetitive and this sequel should not exist because the original was wrapped up pretty well. Am disappointed with the developers.

The story was great, not as great as the original in my opinion but still great. Maybe because it was much more complicated, the original was much simpler compared to this sequel. No one actually "wins". This story is much darker. Also, the jump scares were a lot of fun and stressful at the same time. Some of the combat encounters were incredibly intense, especially if your playstyle is stealth. This game is one of the best games I have ever played and I'm 47. I've played games all my life and this one easily makes top 5, possibly top 3.… Expand

Seriously, are you going to judge LGBT people now? My God, this is so low. It's 2020, damn it, when the peak of tolerance in the world should be raised at times. BUT    All that I have written is purely my opinion.

    Well, let's get started. Many people are currently negative about several things: LGBT propaganda, Joel's death, and Abby's muscular girlfriend. Let's start in order.
    1. LGBT. Seriously, are you going to judge LGBT people now? My God, this is so low. It's 2020, damn it, when the peak of tolerance in the world should be raised at times. BUT ARE YOU SERIOUS?! Accuse the game of some kind of PROPAGANDA? This is very stupid. No one is telling you to become lesbian, gay, asexual, TRANS, or anything else. A story is being told, and this is one aspect. Attachment, emotions, feelings, Yes, there is such a range of emotions... And then they got hung up on it... A great society of people who can't even put aside those moments and delve into the very essence, the very plot and agenda.
    2. Joel and his death. It all, sooner or later, overtakes. How do people die? As the heroes? All die in different ways. Have you ever wondered how many people Ellie killed? In front of friends, family, and friends. And they all had similar emotions. Joel died as fate would have it. And this does not turn back, the game clearly and clearly shows us that sooner or later a person dies, no matter what: from old age or from a bullet in the forehead, or having been hit by a club on the head. This was a turning point for the plot and its further movement, a motive for revenge. Yes, there was no revenge, but we will talk about this later.
    3. And the most interesting, perhaps, muscular girl. Excuse me, what? Did you decide to blame her for her muscles? People, apparently, only the beautiful ladies and have seen. What about female bodybuilders? Maybe you should see some images of them both on the Internet and in reality? Well, as far as looks are concerned. And now all about this girl. Yes, the players have a right to hate it, that's the whole point. And if she was much more exposed as a character, then you would understand her. Why did she kill Joel? Revenge. For your father. Wouldn't you do the same? You come and see your loved one dead on the ground. And you know who did it. I don't know why. I will continue to honor it. She's the same person, Wake up. She makes mistakes, just like the rest of us. Just think how much she had to go through in the damn Apocalypse. No less than Ellie, one hundred percent.

    The ending... Oh, this is also a very controversial moment for all the people who shouted simply: WHY didn't SHE KILL HER?! SHE KILLED JOEL! BURN HER AT THE STAKE! Either people only watched the final and didn't pass the game, or they just weren't paying attention. Ellie saw Lev and Abby. As soon as the boy was put down, they started a fight, where Ellie almost won. But she remembered Joel. And just think... Ellie killed Abby. Escaped. And soon the lion wakes up, seeing Abby's corpse. What will he do? Revenge. And so the chain will continue. Ellie realized this at the very end. Why these liters of spilled blood, what good is it? Such were the thoughts that passed through her mind. She had destroyed her happiness, and she could have continued to live in peace, forgetting about it after a while.

    Finally, I want to say that the players ' assessments are not objective. From the word completely. And the critics have brains that understood everything and took it all in their stride. Stop this land, I'll get off.    … Expand

Gameplay is alright, nothing very innovating and new compared to the first which isn't terrible because I didn't love the first one cause of the gameplay. I loved it because of the story and the emotional connection to the characters that the game gave me. The Last of Us Part 2 lost all sight of that. Killing Joel wouldn't be the worst thing for the story if he were to go out in a way that represented the amazing character that he was. But to kill him off in such the bland way that they did really took me out of the game. And for it to happen so early in the game was really disappointing not just because I liked Joel as a character, but because he added to the sorry in such vast ways. That's why they had to have in the rest of the game in flashbacks because they know he adds to the sorry. And some of the flashbacks were the best parts of the game because of this. And then to follow this with having to play as Abby. **** that, I'm getting mad just thinking about it again. The rest of the sorry is just a story of typical revenge and rage which I got through just so I could kill the terrible character that is Abby. And get this, after all that, you can't even kill her. You're forced to just let her go. What a crock of **** A videogame is supposed to be enjoyable at the end of the day. And the story for this game really ruined any enjoyability that I could possibly have with The Last of Us Part 2.… Expand

    Lo que más recuerdo de este juego son las caminatas y las peleas era el mismo proceso una y otra vez.
    Y a pesar de que Gustavo Santaolalla ha hecho la parte musical como en el juego anterior, en éste se sintió muy sutil y no recuerdo una pieza musical de esta obra artística.

    Tal vez esperaba mucho de este juego gracias b al anterior, pero no fue así, ya que rejugandolo, pude percibir los mismos errores o se percibió el cambio de la era de los juegos.

    i played the first game and didnt actually liked the gameplay, but the story is what makes that game still rumble in my mind to date. After reading the leaks, and watching the outrage when the game came out, i decided to watch some cutscenes on YT and i am happy i didnt preordered TLOU2. the only thing that made me love this franchise is now ruined.

    OMG....I had such high hopes for this game, I ignored the leaks and was just excited to play the sequel to my fave game... but this is honestly 100% trash. The story went in a way that spits in the face of true fans. If you loved the first game don’t bother playing this, you will be broken. Naughty dog messed up

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I knew about the leaks but knew as a fan of the first game I had to buy it and play it without my opinion being pushed by other reviews. After playing this I had a moment of happiness because I thought I saw everything come full circle and saw a beautiful story. It was only then I realized I was in denial.
    I knew Joel was gonna die, I think most fans knew it was coming and how it was gonna happen, but not so quickly in the game. After looking back at the trailers I noticed that I was lied to. We saw videos of Joel and Ellie 4 years older only to find out that they were changed in the game as flash backs, and they did this to look like we were gonna play another adventure game with Joel and Ellie. Basically, we fans were tricked by Neil Drunkman, cause he knew if fans knew what was actually gonna happen in the game’s story narrative then no one would buy it.
    Instead we got a game that has our favorite character killed off in the first 2 hours, and then play as Ellie for the next 12 hours. But Naughty Dog did something risky and did not realize that it was gonna ruin the game (somehow). You play as Joel’s killer for over 10-11 hours!
    Neil Drunkman thought it was a good idea to play as Abby, the person that tortured and brutally killed the most beloved character in Naught dog history. Why?
    I have never played a game just to watch my character die in multiple ways to feels satisfied. Abby makes me never want to finish this game ever again. She had a very good reason to kill Joel, we all know that Joel has done horrible things and knew one day it was gonna kill him one day. But we care about Joel just like Ellie.
    Like Ellie we love and care about Joel and watching Abby kill him makes me sick, and like Ellie I can’t forgive Abby, I can understand, but I can never forgive. No matter how many times we watch Abby save people, or show how well liked she is by others in her community, she still killed someone we loved and she will always be hated for that. You can give me the best graphics in video game history, you can give me gameplay mechanics that are performed perfectly, but none of that matters when you give a story that I never want to finish ever again. We fans were lied to, and I don’t know about other Naughty Dog fans, but I have lost all trust in this company, they got my money for the last time. I will no longer support a company that lies to fans with false gameplay advertised throughout the past 2 years.
    Don’t give these lying **** any more money. They need to understand that they **** up and need to get their **** straight, and never have Neil Drunkman write or direct another game. There’s lot of other things (story wise) I can complain about but Abby is the #1 thing wrong with this game.    … Expand

    What I can grab from the story is revenge after revenge, a never ending cycle, Joels actions shaped the entire West Coast, making people split. What's so hard to understand?
    We see communites and people trying to rebuild the world, everyone cries about the story not being Apocalyptic, but if the game was only zombies they'd cry about that too.
    Most of these bad ratings are people who bandwagonned on the hate train or just hate the fact that ellie is gay and Abby is more masculine and fit than them.

Graphics are impeccable, soundtrack is beautiful. And the history and characters, they're amazing. This game made me feel something different about the LGBTQ community, It's like I have so much more empathy for them now, as if the game hadIt's just amazing. Neil Druckman few years back said that The Last of us will not be about anything else but Joel and Ellie because they're the main characters and they wouldn't have it any other way, that was a lie. In the trailers they put Joel in cutsene and then replaced him with Jesse, so we think Ellie is on some kind of revenge path and Joel is helping her with it, that was a lie. Again in trailers they replaced Joel and ellie models to mislead us so that we think what we saw was their new adventures and in fact those were only flashbacks, so it was a lie. Despite all of that they kill Joel in the most horrible way just to introduce another character that this game is indeed all about. From the start I had hard times bringing myself to play it becaouse of the poorly writing but after they forced us to play as Abby this piece of **** charactar who killed our beloved Joel I totally lost it. I was waiting for this part to be over and go back to playing as Ellie but that didn't happen. Even more, you had to play as Abby to kill Ellie ?????? Imagine in Dark Souls you fight against a final boss and the game places you in the body of the boss and you have to kill your player character to finish the game, could you come up with something dumber that that ? I don't think so. It's clear for me that somewhere along the way of writing a script for this game something terrible happened, they totally abandoned their original ideas and tried to write something so WOKE and teach us something trough this game but unforunetaly they completely failed to do that. I say the first game gave us better live lessons and made us think more about some objects. The second didn't have the same effect because the times when i could spent thinking about some problems that this game portrays I spent on thinking when will this **** end. Dissapointed, will never trust this Company ever again and will definetly not buy their games in the future… Expand

This game pushes boundaries and tells a revenge tale we have never seen done this way before. There are two sides to every story. We experienced Joel's in part one and we understand and relate to this character, but have we forgotten that actions have consequences? Bad things happen to good people. This game makes you question what is moral and what is immoral, and it is done in such a brilliant way. Revenge is always bitter, always cold.. since when is it satisfying?     This is Naughty Dog's masterpiece. The story is dark and emotional, something i've never experienced like this in a game so far. The facial animaties are insane! Graphics are amazing, world building is great!

    I loved it (I actually played and completed the game instead of al the 0-reviewers out here) and its my favourite game this year, maybe even this generation.

    I have noticed that something went a bit off the rails soon after Left Behind. In the first game, Ellie talks about Ryley as someone she loved, her best friend, and while playing Left Behind we see the bond between the two, the friendship that evolves in pure love. Ellie wasn't Ellie anymore she was a lesbian, no more Ellie in love but a damn label, a banner to wave to make a statement... all the press praise was mostly not about the game, but about the political statement. At that moment Ellie died, she turned into a cliche, a flat portrait of what she was... ruining the development of this game.
    The whole game is permeated of this "we must make a statement" thing, and that damaged the characters a lot. The story doesn't flow naturally, it is so forced that it hurts - in the first game when we met Bill, his arc was already written, the fact that the actor W. Earl Brown decided that his partnership with Frank was romantic, it didn't change Bill behavior, the character just got deeper not only because he was gay, but because love was involved - Part II was au contraire built not around the characters, but around what they should represent, all about the label. Who cares if Joel since the beginning never trusted strangers and even decided to leave a family to die "someone will stop eventually". Who cares if every single time he trusted a stranger, someone he loved died; he trusts the soldier and Sarah dies, he trusts Marlene and Tess dies (and Ellie was about to die), he trusts Henry because of Sam (raiders don't hang out with kids) and as soon as he starts to like them, they die.
    ND throws away everything out of the window because they needed Abby to become the strong lead of the game. That was not possible if Joel was still Joel from the first game, we needed him to forget about his past and act unnaturally, we needed him to trust strangers. We needed Tommy that saluted newcomers with shotguns pointed to their heads to turn into Mr. "Welcome to my place". We needed Abby to leave Ellie alive knowing she will eventually track her down, just like she just did with Joel.     I wish that Ellie wasn't turned into an icon, I wish Neil Druckman might have had the chance to let the character and the story evolve naturally, without having to make a statement. ND already had a game with 2 female lead that did great, something to take inspiration from: "Uncharted The Lost Legacy", that game didn't have to make a statement and flowed just fine, being really progressive but somewhat "under the radar".

    Basically all you have loved about the believable people in the first game is gone... there's nothing for us here, just plain forced character and bad storytelling.    … Expand

    Finished the game yesterday.
    Currently replaying it on Survivor+.

    This is one of the best games I have played in my entire life.
    The range of emotions... I went from crying like a baby, to feeling rage, guilt.
    It is a roller coaster.

    Please do not be fooled by the enraged reviews out there.

    Naughty Dog has not let us down.

    TLOU 2 is far and away the most developed and intricate game I know aware of. The character development and storyline is on par with the best of cinema and the graphics are about as photo-real as todays technology can handle. The story, emotion, combat mechanics, world-building, physics, horror, characters/VO, graphics, music and sound all working flawlessly and in harmony makes the Last Of Us II feel like a next generation of video gaming. I felt like a character in a well-crafted movie.

    This game is what publishers will strive to be on par with for the next several years. Well done Naughty Dog. The developers and everyone involved should be incredibly proud of what they have created.

    Unfortunately people are narrow minded and have decided they don't like a game with homosexual characters, or the death of a beloved character, and are acting out like overgrown children to voice their hatred. Don't listen to them. They are the worst of us. They are scared of the importance of what you have achieved.

    I almost finished the game and I love it. It is a great sequel for the first part. Story and gameplay are one of the best I have ever seen. I would say, this game is a must play for everyone.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
